Cassette Beasts?
Tumblr media
Cassette Beasts is a creature-collecting game by Bytten Studio! Record monsters on tapes, become a Ranger, and find the way off of New Wirral in this amazing adventure!
Spoilers below the cut!!
So I had a plan to write this review before I even finished the game. It was just that good. But! I managed to hold off until I at least finished the main game. Next goal: 100% and DLC! And also buying the OST when I have the chance.
Now, I'm not putting this off until the middle of the review: every musical track in this game is a certified banger. I absolutely loved the music of the game. As one person put it (while I was looking for the OST), I just didn't get tired of the music. And that's a pretty big win for a game where you have so, so many encounters and only a handful of tracks to play.
youtube
youtube
The way they implement the music is also impressive because it's narratively important. The lyrics work their way in when a fusion happens and during big story battles. The town theme's music plays when you're indoors. Plus the lyrics just feel right with its tones and atmosphere. Also the difference between the few main battle themes is just enough for one to feel more tense/exciting than the others. Just an overall great thing they have going on with the audio.
Okay with that out of the way!
Tumblr media
Cassette Beasts is a solid game, actually pretty high tier.
Mechanically, I've seen people compare it to Pokemon. I feel like it's like a mix of Pokemon and Persona. You can record the monsters, remaster (evolve) them at five stars, with some having having special evolution requirements. Monsters can show up as bootlegs, where they're a type other than its base type, which is just like shiny hunting but more (cause there's like 12 types). And I've already killed a plastic bootleg by accident...
Tumblr media
The moves (stickers) are mix and match, mostly according to typing. I'm pretty into it cause I love giving my party members all sorts of type coverage. I haven't particularly gone into finding weird strategies yet other than AP Refund, but I can see some cool ones thanks to needing to battle all 12 Ranger Captains.
And then you can fuse! Which I thought was interesting, and it adds an ace to go to when you're in a pinch. But you fusing means that wild monsters (and other rangers) can fuse too. Those provide some fun challenges and opportunities to find bootlegs, plus progression in post-game.
Did I mention that this game is also like a Metroidvania? Capturing certain monsters gives up to 6 overworld movement abilities and I think that's pretty neat. All of them have their uses and none of them are niche, which is a win.
The story was pretty interesting! Dropping in onto a mysterious island and trying to find a way back home is nice and simple and all the detail added around it make it engaging. The Archangels are wildly uncomfortable which I didn't expect and I loved it. Despite loving it, it still did come out of nowhere but greatly forgiven because it was right at the start (and not some random turn in the middle).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pacing was a bit off for me though because I got like 5 out of 8 song pieces before I even defeated 4 captains or even met all the partner characters. I also don't know how relationship progress works other than fight things and rest. Thinking about it now, there's probably a reason why there a speedrun timer in that you don't have to play through all the content (8/9 archangels, no captains?), I guess.
I liked the references to all sorts of topics throughout the story and I think it's pretty interesting for the characters to be from different timelines. It makes it easy to explain weird inconsistencies.
Funny thing I did by accident for end game's story: I switched out Meredith's Regensea with an Aeroboros cause I wanted her starter in my party. And boy did that choice bite back later lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Graphics are also solid. The 3D world with 2D sprites reminds me of Octopath Traveller. I appreciate the non-pixel portrait art for the characters, but I would've liked it either way. The designs of the monsters and the characters are all great! Honestly, I should take some notes from them since even if there's 15+ characters, they still all have very specific designs and personalities to match.
The detail in the world is great too, like the light reflecting off the puddle or the fog that rolls in and the rain. So like weather in general.
Also, as a note just for me, I liked the fonts and font effects that they used. Very cool.
Cassette Beasts is a quality creature-collecting game! If you need another Pokemon/Digimon/Persona, here's a game for you. Or if you just want a cool turn-based RPG with cool music, that's cool too.
As always,
Enjoy gaming!

Could I request some headcannons of the ScarVi boys with an agender s/o who struggles a lot with dissociation and stuff? Like maybe how they’d comfort them. Preferably it/its and nym/nyms pronouns please. I personally don’t like being seen as super human due to how often I dissociate if that gives any ideas for writing.
Hello~ so sorry for how long this took. Life has been. A lot. I don't know how much use of pronouns I'll have since I generally write in the second person but I'll do my best! I also have issues with dissociation, but not a lot, so I hope I represent things as best as I can for you. I know everyone's dissocciation manifests differently as well as what helps, some folks need to be put into a lot of activity while others need isolation for a bit, at least from my experience, so I just want to represent all I can. :)
Also if I left anyone out you were looking for please let me know! There's a lotta guys so I left out a few, you said "boys" so I went with the academy guys.
ScarVio Boys x Agender S/O Who Dissocciates!
Tumblr media
Arven
🥪 - Arven is definitely a little confused when you first dissocciate around him. First he's worried it's something he did. Then he's worried you're sick or something. So he doesn't handle it super well the first time it happens. But once he realizes what's going on he falls into a rhythm.
🥪 - He's always incredibly communicative but tries to keep himself from grilling you with questions. He handles things with a fair bit of caution as he gradually gets a feel of what dissocciating looks like for you and what you need.
🥪 - Arven always has your back when it comes to your needs. He makes sure you're well-fed and hydrated. If you can't bring yourself to cook for yourself, of course he's going to be doing it for you. (And speaking from personal experience god wouldn't that be the best)
🥪 - Mabosstiff is always hanging out with you too. Sometimes Arven will help guide your hands through the Pokemon's long, coarse fur as a grounding device. Or if you need a lot of sensory input to help, he can also totally just let Mabosstiff jump on you and lick you half to death.
🥪 - He gets restless when there's not something he can do for you at all times and he needs to take time to learn sometimes the best thing he can do to help is just sit with you in silence. Though, occasionally, he'll ask if you'd feel better if he talks. He'd talk for hours if it meant helping bring you down to Earth.
Tumblr media
Giacomo
🔈 - Music is one of the best grounding tools and you can bet your ass Giacomo is using every last bit of his musical knowledge and gear to help you.
🔈 - He gets you your own pair of custom headphones, whatever kind you want, one of those types that have noise cancelling you can switch on and off if you're dissocciating for reasons of being overwhelmed.
🔈 - He puts together all the very playlists of all your favorite songs, organized by vibe ofc.
🔈 - And if you need it he'd be happy to share an earbud with you if you need the one-on-one connection of listening to music together.
🔈 - If you're in a public space he's also very swift and on the spot with getting you somewhere calm to decompress.
🔈 - He doesn't really have many words for you, but he'll squeeze your hand and remind you with gentle touches that you're here, and so is he.
Tumblr media
Atticus
🧵 - If talking helps guide you through dissocciation, he's probably the one for you. You ask, and he'll just sit next to you and wax poetry for hours. It can help if you're someone who just needs words or conversation, it doesn't matter what the content is.
🧵 - If what you need is a quiet place to come back down to earth he'll whisk you to the very best right away. He has some good spots he finds ideal for meditation that he finds would be ideal.
🧵 - Atticus has lots of little one-on-one activities he offers to do with you. He'll paint your nails, let you try things on or model for him, even just hold up a sleeve of one of his current projects for him to stitch.
🧵 - Or if you need him to just sit next to you in silence, he can do that too. Or if you need him completely gone he'll leave you alone for as long as you need. I think Atticus understands better than most what you might need and to be patient with you, and he never takes your distance personally if it needs to happen.
🧵 - He can also put together some kind of garment like a sweater or hoodie that's sensory-friendly and he will take every last one in your preferences into account. Colors, weight, length, especially material, if you ever make a request expect it to be followed to a T.
🧵 - No matter what it is, if there's one thing you can be sure of it's that Atticus will be patient.

LU Pokemon AU
Tumblr media
Looking for pokemon with multiple concinesses to build four’s team was very fun ngl, tough it did get op quickly what with the empahise on steel types for his team. Anyhoot enjoy the hc’s :))))
(lord forgive me for the horrible names i’ve given some of these poor mons. I promise to give them proper names in the futures…)
Time Sky Warriors Twilight Wild Legend Hyrule 🧩Four Wind
Team descriptions under the cut 👋👀
🧩Minccino: Smol. Mousey. Adorable - a sweet minish native. I originally wanted to make mincinno Four’s main mon but that felt a little underwhelming (no hate minny babes sobs).
Mincinno has an easygoing personality, letting the wind take them where it wants, enjoying all the opportunities that comes its way. They are able to find the small joys in the mundane that most others may misinterpret as childish naivety. They insist on keeping junk they find, puzzling over items trying to figure out how to recycle what it finds.
🧩Mawile: (so i know the pokedex strongly insists mawiles jaw is just a set of horns, but we’re gonna ignore all that and say its a second head. Okay cool sweet nice)
Their two consciousness are at odds with one another most times, often with the jaw snapping in odd directions trying to tug mawile away from whatever they’re doing. It can be annoying relying on someone else to get everything done but Maws trusts Smiles to listen to them. But eh, its not so bad being in the passenger seat, much simpler in fact not having to worry about much.
🧩Magnezone: Its endearing seeing someone as large and bulky as Magnezone hovering over a flower its curious over. Similar to Four they’re housing multiple personalities that they will swap between.
1: shy careful   2: easily distracted clumsy   3: bold insistent Each on of their personality will let their curiosity drag them away
🧩Leavanny: Infinite patience - This is a team with 13 consciousness - They will pull on their motherly instincts to wangle each and every present mind into line. You bet when they blow a gasket everyone suffers.
🧩Aegislash: (similar to mawile we’re gonna tweak actual cannon to suit my needs, in my case the blade and shield are separate entities and have a symbiotic relationship.)
Sword (gods i promise i’ll give them proper names, mercy i cri) is a timid creature unsure of their own strength. They get overwhelmed easily and constantly beg to hide behind Sheild. This frustrates Sheild to no end, adding to its complex over its passive form.
They hate seeing Sword belittle themselves, that they can’t understand their own strength, and their potential to be a powerful duo. Though they don’t know how to show Sword this and their attempts at ‘encouragement’ often come across as bullying.
🧩Hydreigon: Iirc dink is a big part of four’s story so we’re gonna try and squeeze him in here.
I really have no idea what im doing here so gonna leave it be and work on it later when i learn more about fours dink.
---
Notes: I reeeeeeeeally wanted to include metagross in four’s team with each cores’ colour matching his spirits’. Tho the 1-2-3 pattern had to stay with four tying it all together nicely.
Honorable mention to spida tho. I thought of a them having a chameleon like affect with their spot arrangement switching whenever a different persona took the wheel.
I actually havent played that many zelda games, and surprisingly of the few i did play four swords and minish were some of them. But that was forever ago when they literally first released, so i remember next to nothing about those games.
---
🔴 Partner Pokemon: Mawile ⚪ Smaller team: Minccino, Mawile, Magnezone

Giving Yugioh Characters Pokemon that i KNOW they’d have Pt. 1
AKA LAVS YUGIOMON AU
Ty @baddyzarc for most of the yugioh sprites I used to make this post literally using your account when ever I need sprites for these guys 🙏
If grammars ass I know, pls don’t @ me
Tumblr media
Spectre-
If you’re friends with me then you should already know he is gonna be on the list first, and if you watched Vrains and if you know Spectres character then you can already guess the type of Pokemon his team would mostly consist of.
The Trevenant is his first member of his team and his oldest member that’s been with him since he was an infant. When little spectre was left alone to his mother tree he just so happened to be left within the forest Trevenant resides in and looks over. Shocked to see the infant left by itself by the roots of one of his oldest trees, Trevenant had practically assimilated himself into a grandfather like role for Spectre. (Specter’s mother tree is a single mother she deserves someone to help her 😤lol)
Torterra is the second member, he had known Spectre when he was little and he was a small Turtwig. Would play with him whenever he would come and visit from the orphanage. During the lost incident he had evolved into a Grotle and attempted to keep Trevenant calm while Spectre was missing despite missing him too
When ryoken finds him I can imagine Trevenant and Grotle following the two to where they live and Faust/Aso will give him pokeballs so they can be with Spectre properly! (but also because Kyoko is just done being jumpscared by Trevenant 24/7… He just wants to help her look after his boy :>)
Next up is Appletun, I Could imagine a younger Spectre and Ryoken playing with Grotle eventually evolved Torterra on his back. In Torterras Official Pokédex entry “Small Pokémon occasionally gather on its unmoving back to begin building their nests.” So a scenario i can imagine is the two of them finding small Pokemon on Torterras back and even Two small Applins that the two of them caught and looked after together.
The Appletun is a very gentle sweetheart and is quite the sloth that prefers to nap in nice sunny spots. I’m just imagining Spectre just crouching down with Appletuns food in hand and just patiently waiting for the little guy to come to him imagine appletuns little slow but soft pitter patter footsteps 🥺 (I mean look at Appletuns speed stat, lil guy slow 😭)
At first I Felt Gardevoir would be more fitting for Spectre since the two of them are similar in terms of Devotion and Loyalty and Have Gallade go to Ryoken but I decided to switch it around (I’ll go into more detail on Ryokens part)
I like to think Spectre keeps an extremely close eye on his Pokemons health (Especially Trevanants…) And I like the idea of Spectre trying to Dote on his Gallades health and exercise and for his Gallade to get a little shy and embarrassed because of it, Hehe. Also Gallade would love Spectres Sunvine Thrasher, it’s just a fact. Gets upset if he sees it destroyed in a duel. It’s adorable ^^~ he summons it to the duel and all of a sudden Gallades not in his pokeball
The Seedot and The Shiny Phantump would be his most recent Pokemon
I could imagine as he got older and would visit the tree stump of his mother tree he one day found the little seedot there. Either the small seedot would shyly follow Spectre while also staying hidden, or Spectre would befriend the little guy, either option is adorable and correct
I could also Imagine something similar for the Shiny Phantump (The reason I specifically see Spectre having a Shiny Phantump, I mean cmon it should be obvious I don’t think I need to explain it, it’s literally perfect)
Trevenant is very Emotional attached to the tiny Phantump, Grandpa tree gets flashbacks to baby Spectre and is having 🌟Sentimental Feelings🌟
The little Phantump is very shy and gets scared easily and is almost always floating next to his shoulders, likes to just hide/snuggle there while he duels. If Spectres not dueling Phantump would just like to rest in one spot and just hold the cards and either stare at the art or just hold them. It’s like watching a kid hold their favorite stuffy, said stuffy being a card but—
A little seedot on one side of Spectres shoulder and a little Phantump hiding behind the other omg Brb gonna cry-
Tumblr media
Ryoken-
What do ya’know! It’s mostly Dragons, who would’ve guessed?! Ok but on a serious note Despite his team looking like something a seven year old would make, just let mama cook mk?
Ok I had to have Ryoken come after Spectre so I can talk about the Gallade and Gardevoir thing, His Gardevoir is his first ever Pokemon. He had her when she was just a small Ralts long before the lost incident as a gift from his Dad. He would carry the small Ralts everywhere, where ever you found a small Ryoken you were gonna find a small Ralts there too. She’d evolve into a Kirlia when he’s 8.
Remeber during the lost incident Ryoken literally HEARD the kids his father took and experimented with? The scene we get of 8 year old Ryoken curled up and covering his ears? Go to Ralts , Kirilia, and Gardevoirs Official Pokédex Entry these Pokemon are known as the Feeling Pokemon, The Emotion Pokemon, and the Embrace Pokemon. Imagine seeing the chipper and sweet adventurous boy you were with go through the things Ryoken went through and the man that brought you to said boy is the reason behind it? That’s Kirlia’s POV , Yeah? Imagine little baby Ryoken curled up with his kirlia, now you’re crying with me.
A Pokemon like the Gardevoir evolution line would be a fitting Pokemon wanting to stay by Ryokens side and would be Ironic in a way Considering Fairy type Pokemon are the ultimate weapon against Dragon type Pokemon.
I could see her evolving into Gardevoir some time after Ryoken makes the call to end it all. She’s determined to stay by his side and care for him and try her best to help Ryoken the best the Pokemon could do like a doting older sister after everything that’s happened
Also his Ability to summon Data Storms by hand reminds me of the fact Gardevoir will make a small black hole to protect their trainers, and his vrains Avatar reminded me of Gardevoirs design from the colors, the flowy skirt-like cape, to the headset covering his face. I’m not a big fan of of it but I like to think for this AU I’ll only like it cause I’m gonna make an excuse that he wanted to match with his first ever Pokemon partner
The reason Spectre has a Gallade could be because it was a gift for Spectre as he made him his right hand man during the beginning of his whole knight of Hanoi thing. Since I’d sometimes see Gallade portrayed as Gardevoirs knight amongst the fans and the media. Fitting, no?
Now for the second Pokemon it’s gonna be the Flapple and the Garchomp. Back to what I said with Spectres Part, Both him and Ryoken had an Applin but his evolved into a Flapple due to the apple being tart, and the Flapple is a little shit that’s constantly causing fights.
I like to imagine when Ryoken was maybe around 10-13 he and the others had to go and look for Flapple cause it was out causing mischief, turns out Flapple had spit his Acidic Liquid inside a lil gibles hole in the ground and are now fighting. Flapple, the little shit that he is, saw it as a fun game while the poor little Gible was practically crying while throwing attacks at the flapple cause look! The poor little guys head hurts 😞
So with Ryoken being Flapples trainer and taking responsibility for what his little shit of a Pokemon did they take the Gible to Kyoko to fix up the little guys burn scars (Not without bite marks on their arms and fingers though)
After the treatment and befriending Ryoken you will never not see the two fighting and bickering, even after Gible eventually evolves into Garchomp, Flapple is still gonna pick fights with him and pretty much spit acid into his eyes to get him to fight. The fights usually end with Garchomp running to Ryoken crying about Flapple being a meanie. (While said Flapple cuddles up to Spectres Appletun acting as the worlds most innocent little thing 😇)
Is it bird? Is it a plane? NO! It’s Ryoken on the back of his Salamence! You’ve heard of dueling on motorcycles AND you’ve heard of dueling on Duel Boards but get ready for…Dueling on Pokemon! Y’know that scene where Yusaku watches him ride on the back of his monster during his whole link sense scene in season 1? Yeah that scene but he’s on his Salamence. The knights of Hanoi use Genesects, Ryokens using a DRAGON
I placed Dragapult and Salamence in his team solely because of Borrel Load Dragon if I’m being honest. They could be Given to him by his father when he goes after the Ignis. You already KNOW the dreepys are nipping and pulling at his bangs and his little hair tuft that’s on the top of his head that reminds me of a happiny
Maybe post Canon I could see him racing Dragapult while riding Salamence just to see them have fun
Now the last little gremlin, Hydreigon, I felt was fitting due to the Pokédex entry stating. “It’s said that Hydreigon grew ferocious because people in times long past loathed it, considering it to be evil incarnate and attacking it relentlessly.” Ryokens dueling and strategies are Brutal to a T we all know that
Hydreigon to me seems like a very fitting Pokemon he would use when hunting for the ignis. Get to the Duel between him and windy: “GET YO F***ING DOG BIH” “She don’ bite” literally everyone watching- “YES SHE DO!!!”
Also I’d just like to make note his Hydreigon is a She and her name is Heidi and she’s a special spoiled little princess 👍
Tumblr media
Yuzu-
Yuzu’s here to sing! Cause Dueltaining and Pokemon Showcases are her thing! I can Totally see her being a Pokemon Performer and Coordinator while also being a Dueltainer! She’s multitasking and multitalented!
When she was born I could imagine her dad Gifting her Pokemon as a surprise for her, and he would take into great care and consideration for each one he would search for. He took such good care of finding her perfect Pokemon partners that some of them are just a bunch of Mini Yuzus mimicking bits of her personality and a few of her mannerisms!
Her Dad got her an Audino as a way to help him make sure she’s healthy and happy. She usually stays at home to tend for the chores and the food. No one makes sweets as good as Yuzus Audino, and that fact is Sora tested and approved!
Very nurturing and motherly to Yuzu but only for Yuzu! Y’know how Yuzu would wack Yuya with her feather fan? Yeah picture that but with yuzus dad and Audino. Nagging her father is probably her second favorite thing to do, her first? Styling Yuzus hair of course! Loves to wear matching accessories together with her, if Yuzu were to keep a hairstyle Audino did for her while dueltaining? She’ll be bouncing all over the place in excitement and happiness!
Her Vivillon Loves to flutter around and dance with Yuzu during duels whenever her melodius monsters take center stage! Hates being in her pokeball and prefers playing pretend as a bow on the back of Yuzus head while she’s at school or dueltaining, has she gotten in trouble for it? Sometimes yeah, but Vivillon doesn’t bother anyone so the teachers will allow it. (Though they do try to get her into her pokeball during exams. Keyword, try.)
Be careful on avoiding Vivillons bad side if you don’t want her to blast you in the face with a Bug Buzz (*ahem*sylvio*ahem*) This Lovely Bug DOES NOT like him one bit, if he’s not getting harassed one way or another by Vivillon? Straight to the hoptal because something’s not right ☝️ I mean I’m not gonna sugarcoat it, all of Yuzus Pokemon hates Sylvio they leave it to Vivillon though cause she just downright despises him
Her Altaria is quite the gentleman though and very easy going, and is the the only male Pokemon in Yuzus team. He will always be humming and singing a tune for anyone and everyone who will listen especially for Yuzu, when ever Soprano the melodious Diva takes center stage in a duel Altaria will make his appearance, ready for a duet! He loves performing, this bird was MADE for the spotlight and he’s never shying from it!
Yuzu takes extra attention over his coat, it’s fluffier and shinier then a Wooloos and he takes great pride and joy with it! Loves it when yuzu would use his coat as a makeshift pillow, anyone else were to try (or god forbid get candy in it *Ahem* *ahem*) you’ll get blasted with Dragons Breath that’s for sure
Lurantis is Yuzus most spoiled and Sassy Pokemon, she’s had her ever since she was a little Formantis who would throw the most hectic tantrums if not left alone to sunbathe in her little pot.
Lurantis is not the best with other people and is quick to cut them down a few pegs if they were to say or look at yuzu and her other Pokemon funny. Loves to show off during performances and battles as she takes great pride in her appearance and strength, but will slice your hand off if you try to touch her and aren’t yuzu! You can look but no touching! Or you’ll lose the ability to touch!
But she seems to really like yuya? How Strange, she’s constantly trying to cuddle up to him (somebody help him he doesn’t wanna get sliced up)
Skitty is another stay at home Pokemon who Yuzu found alone and abandoned in a box! She isn’t exactly the brightest one in her team, but this silly derpy kitty is adored by Yuzu and her other Pokemon so does it matter? After all out of all the Pokemon the little skitty is probably the most adored Pokemon in Yusho Duel school and all she Does is nap and chase around her own tail!
Has any work gotten done whenever skitty came over to visit? No. Has everyone kinda just duel eachother to see who gets to spend the most time with her? Yes. Did they get assaulted by the Yuzu Fan afterwards? Also yes. Was skitty napping during it all? Indeed she was, indeed she was…
Now the Flabebe wasn’t hers originally she was a gift from Masumi/Julia. Yuzu takes great care over Flabebe and will panic and freak out if the smallest thing were to happen to her. Her and Masumi/Julia will get teased by there friends saying that Flabebe is like there kid, those same said friends gets punched in the face and wacked in the head later but still-
Flabebe is so shy and meek and poor thing will just get scared over anything tends to stick by close to Yuzu, Audino, and Lurantis the most. It’s an important rule in Yusho that Flabebe is NEVER allowed to be alone when out of her pokeball!!
Wants to be able to perform with yuzu and the others but is just to scared to go on stage, maybe one day she’ll find the strength?
Tumblr media
Leo and Luna-
The twins were very simple and easy to decide for! They obviously had to have matching Pokemon while also having their own unique Pokemon. Now you might be wondering, Why the hell is Entei and Suicune here?! Let’s work our way up first!~
Plusle And Minun are Pokemon I could see being with the twins since infancy! Their designs and color schemes are practically matching like they were made to be there Pokemon!
Leo and Luna are always cheering for each other whenever they need one another and are always cheering for the people they care about and you already know Plusle and Minun are joining in on the cheer!
I could totally see Leo and Luna on their Duel Boards with Plusle and Minun sitting on the board with them with their own tiny little matching helmets
Speaking of matching, The Twins Meowstic Duo are not to be taken lightly. they were given to the twins to act as a sort of caretakers/Babysitters. They are both protective of the two despite not actually being the twins Pokemon. The male Meowstic is constantly on the worry over the Twins safety to the point it’ll overthink even the tiniest scenarios
The female Meowstic is the level-headed one and keeps the male Meowstics head from exploding with his over thinking, she’s constantly throwing people out windows with her psychic ability if she deems that person as a threat. Or if she’s just bored and deems the person annoying- It happeneds so often that if they go through a week without someone being tossed out a window at least once? They Rush straight to whatever Pokemon center there is nearby in a panic.
The only person she won’t ever throw out a window though? Yusei. Is the male Meowstic jealous? Big Time
Leo and Lunas Scorbunny and Pichu were actually the first Pokemon they caught on their own.
Leo had caught Scorbunny when he was with Jack, Crow, Bruno, and Yusei. The wild rabbit Pokemon was actually giving the group trouble when they were trying to fix up one of their duel runners outside.
It would steal tools they needed and would make them all chase him around. Pokemon and trainers were running around and crashing into eachother like headless chickens trying to catch that rabbit!
It was like something out of a looney tunes episode or a Tom and Jerry episode. Leo, Annoyed by the Scorbunny at first, soon was able to befriend him later on since the two of them were pretty similar in terms of personality. Scorbunny and Leo are very competitive with eachother, they’ll turn anything into a competition with one another.
Their longest and still running competition is who can Annoy Luna the most.~
Luna and her Pichu actually met under different circumstances, she was out with Akiza when the two of them found the little Pichu knocked out sick and injured and on her own. Akiza and Luna were both understandably worried for the Small mouse Pokemon as they rushed to get her to the nearest Pokemon center. Nervous for the little Pokemon, Luna had wanted to visit Pichu constantly while it was at the Pokemon center and would constantly call them for updates on her health.
Luna made the entire 5Ds team sign a get well soon card for the little Pichu as well as some of her other friends (Do you think Yusei went to Kalin/kiryu to sign it as well yes or no?) When the little Pichu is healthy again everyone in 5Ds encouraged Luna to take Pichu as her own Pokemon since this Pichu doesn’t have anyone else that cares for her like Luna Does, when Luna had asked, the Pichu had happily agreed!
Luna is always carrying her around, was so excited when she got her she even showed off to ancient fairy Dragon! I like to think for this AU crossover Pokemon can see Duel spirits since their another form of monsters in this world.
Now that I’ve brought that up let’s get onto Entei and Suicune shall we? Now Leo and Luna don’t actually have them in their team but they are friends with the two. Entei is pretty much the Reagulus of this AU my idea for this is based off a Pokemon movie I loved when I was little back in the 2000’s “Pokemon 3 the Movie: Spell of the Unown” where Entei took one look at an orphan girl who’s parent’s were abducted and went “Is anyone gonna parent that?” And did not wait for a response (I know it wasn’t the real Entei but shhhh it was a sweet movie and is my favorite pokemon movie so let me be delulu over Dad-tei)
Anyways, Entei and Ancient Fairy Dragon are friends who are in the middle of a custody battle over Luna!!! I feel Like Suicune would come to Leo during the illiaster arc, but it could be a funny scenario if after Entei just yoinks Luna as his he tells Suicune “Dude HOLY SHIT get a kid these guys ROCK!” From legendary to legendary-single-dad pipeline with Pokemon and kids is real ya’ll and it’s SUPER EFFECTIVE!!! TO ANY AND ALL TYPES!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️🦅🦅🦅
Originally I was gonna give Leo Raikou since he’s Loud and Boisterous like thunder but then I took a moment too look at the Pokédex entries for the three.
Entei is fitting for Luna in terms of color scheme and his Pokédex entry states “Entei embodies the passion of magma.” Luna is passionate over her friends and family and they mean the absolute world to her, she’s only a child but made a promise to a powerful dragon to help save another world. Luna is a remarkable and passionate kid for her age so her and Entei would be a formidable duo
Suicune is fitting for Leo as well in terms of his color scheme and his Pokédex states “Suicune embodies the compassion of a pure spring of water.” Leo’s a compassionate kid without a doubt he’s there for his sister when she needs him at the most important moments and he cares greatly for others just as much as his sister does. Suicune would have high respects for Leo and it would consider him as a reliable ally
Now Raikou’s Entry states “Raikou embodies the speed of lightning.”
Hmm I wonder who’d be good for Raikou? Perhaps…The Master of Faster himself? It would make The duel between Aporia and three of them interesting 😉 maybe I’ll add more in Pt.2 hehe

Gongenzaka-
“Hey lav, why does Gong only have 4 Pokemon?” You think the heavy strong style needs to over fill your team to the max limit? Fool!! Gong doesn’t need six Pokemon! His four Pokemon was trained to be the absolute best and can beat your team of six any time any day!!! 💪
Real talk though I couldn’t get myself to figure out what a team of six would look like for Gong for a variety of reasons. I know there could be a bunch of fighting type Pokemon I could slap in and call it a day but I want the Pokémon I chose to be fitting for the characters I assign them with when you take a first look. Not only that but for some I want their Pokémon to share similarities to the cards and monsters they use in duels
I’m taking this whole thing way to seriously buts that’s what I do babygirl, for me I can see Gong being the type who’d focus on a handful of Pokemon he’d bring their greatest strength out of.
Yuzu is a Pokemon performer/coordinator and Gong is definitely a gym trainer from a fighting Type gym his family owns, the Heavystrong style not only applies to dueling but battling as well! He isn’t the gym leader yet but he’s working hard to become a strong one trainers can look up to with respect.
His Hariyama has been with Gong since he was little and Hariyama was just a small Makuhita, they would train together non-stop while Gong was growing up. Since they were kids if Yuya would get bullied Gong would chase them off and you’d see Makuhita with Yuya.
Similar to Gong, Hariyama is a gentle giant. you’ll almost always see him looking after the small Pokemon and the kids, they either hang on his shoulders or he’d carry them carefully in his hands. Out of all the Pokemon in the Arc v squad Hariyama is the calmest
Emboar is also a Pokemon that’s been with Gong when he was little, but as a Pignite in his family’s Gym. he was stubborn and not a single Gym Trainer was able to gain Pignites respect, if you’ve watched the Pokemon series and know about Ash Ketchums Charizard that was Pignite with the trainers.
During battles he wouldn’t listen to a single command, to the more unsavory trainers- he’d set them on fire. The trainers in the Gym practically dreaded working with Pignite, Gongs Dad aka the leader of the Gym did not want to see this continue further so he assigned Pignite to Gong in hopes it’ll be a good lesson for him
And a lesson it was, for the both of them! Of course Pignite acted the same with gong at first, but along the line they’ve grown to develop a strong respect for one another and have come to rely on each other, especially after he evolved into Emboar. Although they respect each other Emboar is still a tease and a bit of a bully to Gong sometimes the others. Despite being Gongs Pokemon, Emboar enjoys playing around with Sora.
You can probably catch the two of them roasting marshmallows and eating s’mores together as if they’ve known each other all their lives. The Duo is understandably known as “Gongs Headache” …at least Hariyama is there to help out. They could need all the help they can get though-
Throh and Sawk are Pokemon that are mandatory to have if you were to be a trainer in Gongs Family Gym. Not much could be said about Throh, in terms of personality he’s similar to Hariyama- to an extent. In fact Throh has a slight “anger management problem” he’s quick to anger and is easy to piss off. Say hello to Emboars favorite victim everybody, if you ever see a giant fire pig flying through the air Being chased by the students of Yusho, you’ll know who was in a bad mood that day. Oh wait— there goes Sora…
The only people Throh tolerates is Gong, his Dad, and…Yuzu? Apparently? Likes giving her head pats and teaching her Judo moves.
Meditite is his most recent Pokemon and was the only pokemon who had nothing to do with Gongs Gym. Meditite was a wild Pokemon that watched Gong Duel, He was impressed by Gong thinking he was the coolest! Would follow him around quietly and just watch him. I feel like Gong would find Meditite observing his cards one day that’s how he’d find out about the small meditation Pokemon.
Since then Meditite will always be Meditating on Gongs shoulder during Duels and his dueltaining performances. You’ll always see Meditite on Gongs shoulder, Gong’ll sometimes meditate with Meditite when The days been extra hectic, Maybe Hariyama will join in too! Not Emboar though…Throh tossed him into the ceiling…

Aoi/Skye Zaizen-
As soon as I had the idea to make this AU, these Pokemon for Aoi/Skye came to me like a prophetic vision. When I think of my sweet lonely girl Aoi as a Pokemon trainer I don’t think of the Competitive trainers or the Trainers who wish to perform despite being a Celebrity duelist herself.
I’m talking about those cozy trainers that show Pokemon of what they also are, Companions. Trainers who will relax all cozy and comfy at home with their Pokemon cuddling close to them, Cooking and baking and enjoying tasty treats and foods with them, playing with pokemon, just simple wholesome companionship and comfort within one another
When I played both Sword and Shield I always had my entire party on Max Friendship with me so during battles when they do something like: “Sora the inteleon Toughed it up so you wouldn’t feel sad!” Or “Palm Palm the venasaur remebers the first time it met you” AND ID BALL MY EYES OUT EVERYTIME, That’s Aoi to me as a Pokemon Trainer.
She wants companions, friends who are their to let her know she’s not alone, so her Pokemon would be EVERYTHING to her. She’d probably prefer to leave them in her home out of their Pokeballs so they can be free to play but also remain in a safe location without harm.
Her Mimikyu has been with her the longest. I was mainly inspired by the doll I’d see Little Aoi carry around during her childhood flashbacks with her and Akira. How I see it happening, a little Mimikyu alone and by itself with no friends to call it’s own stumbles upon a little girl with no parents and the only person she has is her brother with no friends to call her own either. An unexpected yet perfect companionship
Akira is constantly trying to shoo the Mimikyu away knowing what’ll happen to his sister if she accidentally looks underneath the cloth of the Ghost type Pokemon, his sister is the only thing keeping him going he’s not gonna let a ghost type come near his sister and he definitely not gonna let this ghost type taker her away from him! (Spectre and Ghost gal: 👀..)
But the little Mimikyu will not listen, Aoi wants to be friends with Mimikyu and Mimikyu wants to be friends with her too! Older brothers rules be Damned! (Platonic Romeo and Juliet FR FR) Mimikyu will constantly follow the Zaizens around in the shadows, probably making funny shapes in the shadow for Aoi to laugh at. Technically, because of Akira, Mimikyu won’t be Aois officially until AFTER season 1 when he finally gets her a Pokeball for Mimikyu and he doesn’t need to hide from Akira anymore
Did Mimikyu hug Akira so dangerously tight that day? Yes, yes he did. Did Akira break a rib? Hehe… atleast the Zaizens are rich right?…
I also like to make note Mimikyu is known as the “Disguise” Pokemon who disguises himself as a Pokemon thats loved by all and Aoi disguises herself through an avatar of a character that’s loved by all.
Case closed, Next question
Ah, the Ralts, Adorable, sweet, precious little Ralts. I just had to give Aoi a ralts or I wouldn’t forgive myself if I didn’t. The rest of some of these pokemon are gonna be gifts from Akira and little Ralts is the SHYEST Little guy you will ever meet.
Poor thing is always hiding behind someone he trusts. If he wasn’t hiding behind Aoi he’s hiding behind Akira. Don’t tease him, even if it’s the affectionate kind, he’ll cry. When Emma met Ralts she kept saying things like “Who is this little cutie?” And just trying to get him to like her. Ralts cried and climbed up Akiras legs so fast and clinged to him like his life depended on it
Emma’s feelings were hurt immensely that day.
Speaking of clingy, Ralts needs to be holding at least one hand of the other pokemon Aoi or Akira has. OR- he needs to cling and be carried by either Zaizen. There is no debate on this. It’s is a mandatory universal law.
One of the Pokemon Ralts is always clinging to is Aois Cleffa and Marill! The two are bubbly, fun and always filled with energy! Aoi doesnt need an alarm clock cause Cleffa is always up and early running to wake her up and jump on her belly! Hurry up Aoi get up so she can play! Marill is a sweetheart who’ll help Aoi get ready for the day, She needs her tooth brush? Marills got it! Can’t find a missing sock? Marills found it! Gonna play video games? Marills bringing the snacks!
The two of them are very much the equivalent of a hyper active toddler if I’m going to be honest, they love to play and they can’t sit still at all! Something I could see commonly happen is Aoi sitting on the floor bouncing a ball around with Cleffa and Marill going to catch the ball and bring it back to her to toss again while Ralts and Mimikyu sits in her lap, happy to just watch.
Another Pokemon who’s gonna be sitting with miss Aoi? Why her Sobble of course! Sobble is a Pokemon Aoi found herself and took in, though it did take a while for her too do so. How I see it happening is she finds the Sobble hiding on her schools campus during a rainy day. The small Sobble is scared of her at first, cause well.. it’s a Sobble it’s gonna be scared ^^”.. but over time I can see Aoi bringing treats and snacks for the little Sobble and in a couple of weeks the little Sobble begins to look forward to Aoi visiting.
I feel like Sobble gets his own Pokeball and becomes an official member of Aois “Team” on the same day Akira gets her a pokeball to keep Mimikyu. If you thought Ralts was clingy, Sobble is worse he only clings to Aoi and will sit on her head or shoulder when ever he can. Needs to sleep in the same bed as her, and to be fair all of her small Pokemon sneak in the same bed as her to sleep together so it’s not just him. They all have their own brand of clingy, it’s adorable!
Now you might be wondering, “Hey, Lav what’s up with the Primarina?” Well wonder no more! As I will now explain Aois Primarina!……..She doesn’t belong to Aoi! Tadaaaa! 🎉
Ok but real talk though, the Primarina is a friend of Aoi and Miyu. When Aoi met Miyu she also met the small Popplio that would follow Miyu everywhere, Miyus mother doesn’t like Pokemon so she wasn’t allowed too keep Popplio but would play with her in secret when she would play with Aoi as well. Mimikyu would join the girls and the four of them would play together. During the ring incident and When Miyu is taken by the Hanoi for the Lost incident Popplio had searched for Aoi hoping at least she was ok and stuck by her side in worry over Aoi after losing Miyu.
Akira offered to get a Pokeball for Popplio but Aoi refused, she wanted to care for her yes- But she firmly believes she’s meant to be Miyus Pokemon and stuck to taking care of her even when she evolved into a strong and healthy Primarina a part of them both believed that they’ll find Miyu again and she can be her Pokemon Properly, until then Aoi will care for her.

Takeru/Teddy-Boy-
Gee I wonder what type of Pokémon he’d have??? Hmmmm… Maybe water type Pokemon? For his avatars blue hair, yeah 😌
ANYWAYS- I just liked to make note 4 out of 7 of these Pokemon aren’t his, can you guess which of the four it is before reading the rest of this part?
Now then, he’s another boy whose family owns a Gym in this AU, his grandfather is the owner of a Fire type Gym (to no one’s surprise) from where he lives the gym is very old but still very popular by the locals. After the lost incident and having to live with his grandparents he becomes a favorite amongst all the people in the gym, Pokémon included
The Pokemon in the Gym want to be around him 24/7, sometimes 4 of his grandfathers Pokemon would sneak off and follow Takeru wherever he goes, doesn’t Matter where he is or how far away he is they’ll follow him.
His first Pokemon that’s actually his is his Arcanine, his dad got him a Growlithe as a birthday present when he was little and these two were attached to eachother by the hip.
You’ll always see the two racing and playing with eachother!they’re always gonna be outside, if the suns out they’re out! If the sky’s awake they’re awake so their gonna play! They only time they have ever been separated was during the lost incident, and it was agony for both of them.
During the months Takeru parents were out looking for him Growlithe would be searching with them along with his Parents Pokemon, they tried to get Growlithe to stay with his grandparents since he was just a puppy but he just couldn’t
He has to find Takeru, Takeru needs him so he’s not gonna stop searching until Takeru is safe with his family again. When Takerus Parents pass away during their search Growlithe is just in utter mourning.
Growlithe was in an absolutely pitiful state, even when Takerus grandparents and the Pokemon of Takerus Parents tried to tell Growlithe that they weren’t gonna find him he didn’t listen.
During his Mournful search I can see Growlithe evolving into Arcanine, his Desperation turned aggression.
After the lost incident, Arcanine is terrifyingly protective over Takeru and his family, constantly growling and snarling at anyone and everyone who he isn’t familiar with If they got to close to Takeru. Has bitten so many people who tried to go near him you have no idea.
Flat out REFUSES to be in his pokeball at all he left Takerus side for one day and almost lost him for good. He’s not making that mistake again thank you. Will be following him in link vrains everywhere it doesn’t matter what he’s doing.
Now the Pokemon Takerus Parents Had was the Ponyta and the Pyroar, the Ponyta was his Mothers and the Pyroar was his Father. They are very caring to Takeru and will listen to anything he may ask of them no matter what it may be.
Ponyta was always trying to play with Takeru in hopes to cheer him up, she misses his mother too but she doesn’t want her trainers son to be hurt the way that he is. She may not have been with his mother long but she cared deeply for her so she will care for her son in her place.
His Fathers Pyroar is quiet and a bit melancholic after the incident, he follows him around quietly wherever he goes in quiet unease. Pyroar had great respect for his father as he’s been with him since he was a small Litleo so Takeru feels like his son as well.
Sleeps by him or in the same bed as Takeru if he gets any bad Nightmares. Slightly overprotective when it comes to his health but it comes from an understandable and caring mindset.
The Houndour, Flareon, Cyndaquil, and Chikorita are Pokemon that are new memebers of his grandfathers Gym. They’re competitive with his attention and get in trouble all the time whenever they sneak off to follow him. It’s like watching a group of little brothers trying to impress their older brother.
If he’s out on a run these four are running after him, if he’s in a fight they want to join in and fight with him, if they can’t then they cheer loud and proud for him! During season Two when Takeru leaves to go help playmaker the four of them devised a plan to follow Takeru behind Kikus back! Road-trip! When they finally find Takeru again they practically Ambush Kolters Hot dog truck. Not a single hot diggitty-Dog was spared from the flames that day 😞
RIP The Hot dog truck, Went down in stunning flames 😞😭
Also someone save Ai and flame they are being treated as chew toys—

Go Onizuka-
Say hello to Go Onizuka celebrity Duelist and fighting type gym leader! Yup we got another Gym bro babygirls- this time it’s a Gym Leader! A little thing about the gore in this AU is that the team you see right here? Yeah it’s not a permanent team for Mr. Gore here y’all!
Of course they won’t be gone-gone The Gore love his pokemon all the same! They’ll just be in his gym helping the beginner trainers! You already know most of these trainers ar orphans he took in
This is his Season one team. His team is gonna change throughout the Seasons Except one, one Pokemon is staying by Gores side the entirety of it all! Can you guess who it is? Here’s a hint: The little guy is staring right at you along with Gore!
Figured it out?
That’s Right it’s his Kubfu!
Kubfu holds high respect for Gore and works hard to become an even Stronger Pokemon for him! Kubfu is always training and trying to perfect his martial prowess, though the little guy is pretty Naive and easy too fool..a Popular favorite with the kids Gore visits and looks after, even though Kubfu is scared of them 😅
You’ll see him be chased around in circles by the kids who want to play with him pretty often. Gore has a photo of Kubfu in messy glittery pink makeup and a frilly pink tutu being made to play princess tea party by the girls and he adores it. Kubfu is constantly trying to snatch his phone to delete it..Maybe someday little guy haha XD.
Machamp and Pangoro love teasing Kubfu, these two are like insufferable older brothers who like to pick on the younger ones but are absolute idiots.
Pangoro is pretty lazy whilst Machamps a bit of a showboat, but one thing they have in common is their idiocy and their constant need to get into petty fights with each other, They both get the hots for a pretty girl Pokemon? Fight. They both want the last poke puff? Fight. They want to show off to the fans to show them their cooler then the other? Fight.
The Only moments they agreed not to fight eachother In is during Battles with other Pokemon and when playing with the kids. Surprisingly they work extremely well together during team matches and follow Gores orders respectfully and easily.
Machamp and Pangoro have been with Gore the longest since the three of them were little. So following Gores orders is no problem for them. They Respect him greatly and treat each-other as if they were brothers despite being three separate species. Mess with one of them you mess with all of them type of dynamic! Their not gonna hesitate beating someone up for the other. No way sir!
A Pokemon that doesn’t listen to Gores orders? Mankey, he just wants to fight and doesn’t care who he has to fight and how he fights, strategy’s be damned. Mankey will throw attacks left and right so he’s pretty much the last Pokemon he let’s out during battles, luckily most battles end without him having too let him out. Although, to Gores surprise and gratefulness, Mankey is very quiet and calm around kids.
He doesn’t move or react much when they pick him up and play with him, in fact he seems to enjoy when the kids do. If the kids ask him to do something he’s gonna do it, doesn’t matter what it is. Though Gore and the others Wish he did cause now their are holes in the walls Mankey wtf—
Because of this Mankey is a popular favorite with the kids who like playing sports! They’ll argue and fight who gets to keep Mankey in their team to the point Gore has to make the teams for them.
Even though Gore loves his Pokemon and he loves the kids at the orphanage he just can’t let two of his Pokemon visit the kids. Grapploct himself doesn’t want much to do with those kids, he thinks they are loud and annoying and hates it when they grab at his suckers. Especially does not like the smaller ones and the grubby little cheese puff covered finger, get away from him kid.
Now, Hawlucha doesn’t hate the kids like Grapploct he just prefers the quiet when he’s not in battle and children are not quiet whatsoever.
He doesn’t think they’re annoying but he doesn’t have the Patience to deal with children. he doesn’t mind watching his trainer and companions play with the Pokemon, infact he enjoys watching them play together!
But he swear If one of these kids get candies in his feathers
Tumblr media
Yusaku-
Once again 4 out of 6 of these Pokemon aren’t even his, they just like him. Bro passed the vibe check they were captivated by his autistic swa— you get the idea…
From my view point if Pokemon existed in the Yugioh world, Yusaku would love to be a trainer..i don’t mean the Yusaku in main storyline though, I’m talking about Pre-Lost incident/Hanoi project test subject Yusaku..
Yeah that sweet little kid with the cutest smile? Yeah…now you’re crying with me again
Overthink about this with me for a second, as of now when I make this post there is about 1,000 Pokemon. There should be dozens of Pokemon that would have found the lost incident kids instantly if you think about it, whether they were wild Pokemon or Pokemon that work with the police even a Pokemon that’s kept as a spoiled house pet would figure it out
If you were to ask me to list Pokemon off the top of my head that would find the lost incident kids in like a week or less I could probably give you like a handful of Pokemon that could with out having to do much research.
I could also list Pokemon off the top of my head that could prevent others from finding out.
So not only would little Yusaku lose his love for dueling but I feel like he’d develop a fear of Pokemon as well since they assisted the people who were harming him and it took them so long to find him. Aren’t Pokémon strong and capable of incredible things? Why did it take them so long to find him? Why did they help hurt him?
Now like the previous kids I mentioned I decided to give Yusaku Pokemon thats been with him before the lost incident so h wouldn’t be as afraid of them as other Pokemon after the incident.
His Lucario has been with Yusaku since he was a Riolu. They had a very wholesome brother like bond with one another, though Riolu was a bit of a bully.
He’d snatch things from Yusaku and have him chase him around to get it back, Yusaku never could catch him but Riolu would still give whatever he took back! Yes, he likes to tease him but he’s still gonna be nice to him!
Before the Lost incident Yusaku had problems keeping Riolu out of trouble since he was always causing fights with others. When Yusaku was taken away during the lost incident they had taken Riolu as well and held it hostage while Yusaku was kept in his separate room.
The only thing Riolu had in the dark room was the “Nutritional” food he was provided and Yusakus Aura, Riolu held its focus on Yusakus Aura like it was his lifeline. His heart was practically breaking when he felt the change in the boys Aura who he loved so much.
When it finally ended, Riolu had evolved into Lucario afterwards when it’s health improved. He was determined to act as Yusakus bodyguard and never continued his teasing.
He focuses on Yusakus Aura 24/7 if he ever felt it weaken slightly? He’s panicking and attacking anyone and everyone who keeps him from getting to Yusaku or whoever is getting too close to Yusaku.
Another Pokemon Thats been with him Pre-incident is Ceruledge, a wild ceruledge that had a soft spot for the kid and didn’t mind following around. He met Yusaku when he came across Riolu looking for a fight with him.
During the Lost Incident Ceruledge was very confused, where has the small child who would visit him gone to? Had he left with out telling him goodbye? After the incident and when he finds him again and learns of what happend to Yusaku Joins in Lucario on acting as a body guard for Yusaku.
Ceruledge is not showing any mercy to the knights of Hanoi Thats for sure.
Now remeber how I mentioned how the Knights of Hanoi Use Genesects? Like in Team Plasma? Well before meeting Kolter and when Yusaku was on his Revenge spree he had attacked a group of Hanoi Memebers outside of Vrains with Lucario and Ceruledge.
One of the Genesects the Hanoi memebers used hated their guts and thought Yusaku was interesting so this Genesect will be seen through out Pre-season 1 and season 1 just following him around
Yusaku: I told you to get lost already….
Genesect: 👁️👁️
Yusaku:…
The other three Pokemon were after he meets Kolter and Ai.
A Porygon had found the duo and took an interest in their codes. The porygon has decided to hide in their Database and played with their line of code, evolving it into Porygon2
Thinking they were attacked by the Hanoi Yusaku had did some digging and found the virtual Pokémon in his computer and it hasn’t left them alone since.
The next Pokemon who wasn’t gonna leave Yusaku Alone was Munchlax. The Hotdogs have Allured him and now will never leave the duo alone, Munchlax has been spotted following Yusaku to school hoping to steal his lunches. Shima has had the other students believe that the Munchlax is Yusakus, much to his displeasure.
The third one is Hatenna who finds his quiet disposition calming, Kolter and Ai tease him saying that the small little Hattena has a crush on him cause she’ll attack anyone but him. (She does XD)
Munchlax constantly wants to play with Hatenna, Hattena hates him. You will always see the two chasing each other around the hot dog truck with Munchlax thinking they’re playing and Hattena trying to kill him.
After Season one when Ai leaves and he gets his closure, He’s decides to buy three Pokeballs..wonder who it might be for?~

earlier i posted about getting the gold print in the soulsilver battle tower with a furret team and i'm finally getting around to explaining the team some cause i think it's really neat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is the team in some more detail! for reference, i use the PC markings to designate which IVs are perfect in HP/ATK/DEF/SPA/SPD/SPE order. this was really helpful while doing the breeding process... all three of these guys were bred manually in gen 4 without the use of RNG manipulation. i mention this because it's a known fact about me that i love RNG manip but i did it the long way this time. oh and trick on furret, nasty plot on mismagius, and curse on umbreon are all egg moves. as you can imagine this took forever because gen 4's breeding mechanics are wack. getting anything more than 3 perfect IVs is pretty much a lottery crapshoot, the fourth perfect IV on mismagius was insanely lucky. but ANYWAY
i made this team because i really like furret but it's known to be a pretty weak pokemon. it has the normal type curse of a wide movepool but not enough stats to support it, and it doesn't even have a particularly useful ability or anything. i thought it would be really funny if i made it work despite that, and i saw the way: furret gets trick!!
trick swaps the user's held item with the opponent's, so in this case furret gives the opponent a choice scarf and it receives whatever the opponent is holding. "trick scarf" strategies have been used in pokemon for a long time, since it locks the opponent into using the same move over and over unless they switch - and that's the important part. "unless they switch". see gen 4's AI has a weird quirk - the opponent will never switch out if they have a choice scarf tricked onto them, it just doesn't seem to register what's happening. this issue with the battle logic was fixed in gen 5, and choice scarf doesn't exist in gen 3. (choice band DOES exist in gen 3, but giving your opponent a choice band is a lot more dangerous. also, choice scarf has the added benefit of letting your trick user more easily outspeed the opponent to use trick first, locking them into whatever they pressed that turn)
TLDR; gen 4 is pretty much the sole place furret would ever be able to fill this trick scarf role effectively, and i wanted to capitalize on it. because it would be funny. it's main other two moves are substitute and baton pass because the hope is that the scarf locks the opponent into a status afflicting move, a stat boosting move, etc, pretty much anything that doesn't deal damage, causing furret to be able to set up substitute completely for free and then baton pass that substitute over to the next pokemon. knock off is to give furret a little more utility (coming back in later in the battle to knock off an item can be useful) and also just a damage option - like what if the opponent is on their last pokemon and it's on 1 HP from a focus sash and all i have left is furret, lmao. that sort of thing.
while breeding furret i made sure that its HP, one of its defensive stats (ended up being special defense), and speed were perfect. more HP = more substitute health for the incoming pokemon it's baton passed to, more bulk = furret can last a little longer even if the opponent is locked into a damaging move, and speed...
well the fastest pokemon in the battle tower that isn't already holding a choice item is a specific electrode set - it reaches a speed stat of 211. i did calculations and determined that with a perfect speed IV and jolly nature, furret would only need exactly 156 speed EVs to outspeed that electrode with choice scarf, effectively letting it trick scarf everything in the tower without fail, barring opponents getting lucky with quick claw/brightpowder/lax incense. that gave me a lot more room to dump a bunch of EVs into HP and defense, rounding off the furret well. she has 244 HP EVs instead of the max 252 because having an odd HP value (191 in this case) allows furret to use substitute four times from max HP, while 252 would push her HP stat to 192, only allowing the use of substitute three times. the rest of the EVs are dumped into defense for a bit of extra bulk (108 defense EVs to be precise)
the other two pokemon are more straightforward. i needed pokemon that could take advantage of the trick scarf strategy and mismagius and umbreon ended up being really appealing options. first off, they can both stack stats behind a substitute if the opponent is locked into a status move - mismagius can freely spam nasty plot three times to max out its special attack and umbreon can freely spam curse to max out its attack/defense and minimize its speed.
as for specifics, mismagius is pretty frail so the rest of his movepool is oriented around type coverage, and both his special attack and speed are maxed for maximum fast damage. life orb is added for even more damage, and to let mismagius still get off a powerful hit if in a situation where he can't use nasty plot. (it's worth mentioning i put the extra 4 EV points into special defense and not HP to once again keep the HP an odd number, allowing for one more hypothetical use of life orb.) mismagius also has a whopping three immunities - normal, fighting, and ground moves (because of levitate) all don't affect mismagius, which means if furret locks the opponent into any of those three move types, mismagius can STILL set up for free, although maybe not behind a substitute. (furret even baits fighting moves because it's a normal type! lmao)
umbreon on the other hand is incredibly bulky in the EV department and has the ability to toxic stall with protect and its defense boosts from curse + leftovers recovery - i needed a bulky pokemon to round out the team because furret and mismagius are both frail. i wanted to toss more EVs into special defense, but physical defense before curse boosting just ended up being too important of a consideration due to extremely powerful threats like choice band aerodactyl running around, so he has 244 HP EVs, 220 defense EVs, and 44 special defense EVs, with an impish nature. payback was the chosen damaging option because it doubles from 50 base power to 100 base power when umbreon goes last, and uh... well with all those curse boosts umbreon is pretty much always going to underspeed lol. similar to mismagius he also has a pretty nice immunity to take advantage of, psychic!
oh and on top of all of that, mismagius is weak to dark and ghost moves, both of which umbreon resist... and umbreon is weak to bug and fighting moves, which mismagius resists and is immune to respectively! so they really complement each other.
anyway this team isn't perfect but that's kind of not the point, you can only do so much with furret lol. the main issue is when the opponent leads with an extremely strong attacker, such as a muscle band or wise glasses pokemon with a lot of coverage - this team really relies on being gifted time to set up to work, and since i lead with furret there are occasional games where furret can't do a whole lot before going down, and then it's like a 2v3. umbreon's bulk is handy for these situations but it can still result in some close calls.
but yeah i just wanted to write this out because i put a lot of thought into this team and it would pain me if no one knew how much i thought about it LOL. hope someone got something out of reading this SDFKFSDK
you can view the pokepaste of the team here!!

A couple months ago now I was fortunate enough to buy a used switch lite from my friend, and even luckier to obtain a copy of Pokemon Scarlet at the local pawn shop at a very reduced price (plus a couple other things but that's not the point rn). So, we go right from the earliest generation of pokemon to the newest back to back, with possibly just as many bugs and glitches, to my gen 9 team!
Team stats and general gameplay info under the cut:
"Nila", Meowscarada, ♀, U-Turn - Play Rough - Flower Trick - Night Slash
"Quaord", Clodsire, ♂, Poison Jab - Earthquake - Liquidation - Megahorn
"Guache", Grafaiai, ♂, Slash - Knock Off - Poison Jab - U-Turn
"Stella", Luxray☆, ♀, Volt Switch - Spark - Crunch - Ice Fang
"Étoile", Pyroar☆, ♀, Flamethrower - Hyper Voice - Swift - Crunch
"Pharle", Farigiraf, ♂, Crunch - Shadow Ball - Twin Beam - Tera Blast
General Playthrough Notes:
Okay look I need to level with you all right off the bat, I don't like the vast majority of the pokemon introduced in gen 9. They feel like such first drafts to me. I normally go into these games with a team plan but this time I literally had two slots missing going in, I just could not think of what to put in there. And I already planned on using two poison-types and two normal-types! Normally I avoid doubling up on types as much as possible! After a bit I used the codes to get a bug-tera mew and a cetitan and was just thinking "I guess they'll be mainstays??"... then I immediately ran into a shiny shinx. Then a shiny litleo. They happened to slot right into the team and I've never been fortunate enough to use shinies in a playthrough (except my soulsilver randomized apocalocke but shhhhh we aren't there yet), so I put them on. But if they hadn't shown up and essentially saved my ass I would have been hard pressed to fill up a team of six (look I literally just used a mew I'm not in a hurry to use it again, at least it's been a couple years since I used luxray in a playthrough).
Anyways, despite all that, I had fun! I knew going in it wouldn't be too difficult and would have its lion's share of glitches, so I was just along for the ride. I like the friend group you form in this game! I like vibing with koraidon as an honorary team member! It's just a pleasant time.
Back to shinies for a moment, overworld shinies without any sound effects to indicate them is evil. I spent so much time staring at groups of pokemon trying to tell if one of them was off-palette. Thankfully, I never ran into any shinies other than the ones I caught.
The raids are neat, though since I don't have Nintendo Online and no frequent enough local players it isn't super interesting with just the npcs. Caught a few neat fellas though, including a steel-tera breloom and a fighting-tera azumarill.
Speaking of, when I first started playing those mewtwo raids were going on and I wanted to participate in them so bad. I barely missed my window, though from what I've heard I wouldn't have stood much of a chance anyway, haha.
I wish there was more post-game other than the raids. I've redone the tournament like half a dozen times now; I wish there was a battle frontier or something. To be fair, I haven't caught all those ruin legends yet; though the one I have caught I managed to get in the first ball, lol.
Do I have the dlc yet? No! I can't just throw around that kind of money willy-nilly. Maybe someday though.
Picnics are really cute though I wish I could pet my pokemon instead of just wash them. Also why can't I sit down on the chairs that are set up around the picnic table??? Still don't really get the sandwich hype, I might mess around with it a bit though, I want to give it a fair shot.
"Hey Nel, why haven't you talked about the Elite Four? You usually start these notes with them?" The E4 is very unremarkable, sorry. I won't bore you by being the billionth person to rag on how Geeta is objectively the worst champion. Also when I rematched all the gym leaders I didn't have to terastilize or heal my pokemon. They were a bit more impressive the first time around tbh. The gym puzzles were neat though!! Except for Tulip's. Fuck her.
Oh yeah, terastilizing is a thing. Mega evolution is still better.
I wanna hang out with my friiiieeeennnds more, both my irl friends and Nemona, Penny, and Arven. It would be so fun to do raids with them or something like that.
Cold take but the uniforms suck I wanna customize my outfit like Nemona, Penny, Arven and Team Star do
(Normally this is where I'd show a screenshot of me finishing the game, but I'm one of the few weirdos who can't use captchas and haven't found another way to transfer files from my switch to other devices. Have a picture of my cat instead; his name is Prince.)

Hunter x Hunter + Pokemon, let's go!
Like I mentioned earlier, this is the brainchild of my friend, @doodle-storm, who has completed only the Hunter Exam and Zoldyck Family arcs but knows a lot about Pokemon, with me, who knows all of HxH but barely anything of Pokemon, giving occasional suggestions. Enjoy!
We decided to do three Pokemon for the main five and only one for each of the more minor characters. I'll break it up into parts. My friend's thoughts are in green, and mine in purple.
Gon:
Togepi - "Because he's a cute egg boy! And he's filled with joy and happiness and they share it with kind people." "Aww. The spikes look like his hair too!" "Oh yeah! Also they tend to start to act like their trainers, so I can see them kind of jumping into things together."
Ursaluna - I told her a bit about Kon, who was sadly not in the beginning as he was in the manga. "He's a foxbear." "Ooh. Well, there aren't any foxbears, but there are bears..." "Maybe one that looks intimidating? Just because that's funny, and also Kon wasn't supposed to be... befriendable." "Right. Then there's Ursaring, but there's also this one, which looks more intimidating."
Wooper - "I feel like he needs a water type, you know, because of his fishing pole?" She was debating on Wooper and a few others for a bit. "...it looks holdable." "...you're right, it does. Okay, that's cute."
Killua:
Absol - "He needs dark types, I think..." She catches me looking at Absol. "Oh, right, Absol's your favourite, isn't it?" "Yeah." "I think that works. Absol shows up when there's a disaster, but it's to warn people. It's kind of misunderstood."
Sneasel - It was Lucario for a time, but she switched it at the end. "It's got the claws... also it can ride on his skateboard with him."
Alolan Raichu - "It is very important that his pokemon be able to ride on his skateboard with him. ...or!!! It could surf right next to him!"
Kurapika:
Gallade - "Oh, that looks right." "Right? It even has the red eyes, and it's a fighting type."
Cubone - "Hey, wasn't there a pokemon that... lost its family or something?" "...Cubone???" "That's it." "...yeah it wears its mother's skull." "...sorry."
Corviknight - "It also has red eyes." "He seems like he'd have a bird too." "Yeah. Also, you could give the Phantom Troupe a Tinkaton." "..." "...they attack Corviknights with rocks and hammers." "...why?" "Just for fun, I think." "...you're kind of evil for this."
Leorio:
Audino - "There aren't that many medic pokemon and they're all kind of too adorable I think?" "Oh but that would be kind of funny if he hid it behind his back or something." "That's true!"
Gimmighoul - "He needs his money. It's a little ghost!" "...oh. That's kind of sad actually." "?" "He only started really wanting money after he couldn't save his friend so... having the money pokemon be a ghost type is kind of..." We both became sad.
Stoutland - "It warms up to people really quickly and is loyal. And it has a moustache to improve its social standing!" "Hey, Leorio's always wearing a suit probably for similar reasons." (Also I insisted after seeing it was called the Big-Hearted pokemon, though I couldn't elaborate on why to my friend.)
Hisoka:
Hypno - "It led a child into the woods. Canonically. A small child." "Ah." "Like there is no doubt that was a child." "...checks out."
Meowscarada - "I want to give him the evolved weed cat. Something about its smug face." "...'looks like this man's arms have turned into flower petals'..." "Also, since it's a grass type, it'd be strong against Gon's team." "You want our boy to be weak to Hisoka???" "Well, at first! Then it's more satisfying when he beats him!"
Gengar - "Look at that face. That grin." She said nothing more. It had already been decided.

Streamer! and Gamer!Reader who gets the RoR characters involved with her stream by playing group horror game or game that needed teamwork like Pico Park?
I’m not much of a gamer myself, except for games like Pokemon, Stardew Valley, and Assassins Creed, so I’ll try my best with this one! I’m going to use Friday the 13th, even though I can’t stand horror, I love watching other gamers play and get scared while playing scary games like this.
-Your family never had to worry about you being out late at night, as you preferred to be inside playing video games, either on your consoles, handhelds like your switch, or your computer.
-You were an indoor type of kid, but you didn’t mind. You loved gaming and you found joy in streaming while you play, as people found you entertaining, especially when you played scary games.
-You were a big baby with scary games, always screaming, and you’ve gotten yelled at for being up so late playing multiple times and for scaring them, which you did apologize for.
-A few of your family members expressed interest on what game you had been playing that had been making you scream so much, and you were pleased to announce that you were going to live stream with those family members.
-Buddha- Was an instant hit, the thirst posts that came over were almost instant, which did make him grin while you rolled your eyes at him before you provided him with his own cat ear headphones and a controller to play with you. At first, things started off okay, you were both campers and Buddha was a little nervous, hearing the music change to something darker. He got jumped by Jason and jumped, biting down and crushing his lollipop and you shouted, “Every coward for themselves!!” he playfully shoved you, trying to get away, “Come save me!!” you went back and forth, bantering and the chat loved it, sending so many likes and comments as well as a few donations as well. By the end of your stream, you had died seven times over the course of the games, and Buddha died six times, as the seventh time he was the killer and went after you first, which was cold. He grinned at your camera as you signed off, waving with you. Once you were done, you both went out to a bakery to binge on sweets, using the money he helped you earn.
-Loki- Was cocky with this idea, thinking it wasn’t that scary, teasing you and he grinned at the chat comments, giving them peace signs and was a total ham. However, once you started to play, Loki was very quick to shut up, playing a teenager alongside you, sticking to you. Jason jumped out and Loki let out a comical shriek, jumping and actually fell back, takin the chair and controller with him. The chat exploded with laughter while you were running away from Jason, “Women and chickens first!!” The last round you played you were the killer and Loki thought he had gotten away from you but you killed him last and the chat loved how he immediately went to your bed, flopping down on it and cuddling your stuffed animals, lamenting your cold nature against him. You signed off and thanked your fans before you turned to him with a grin, “We earned about three hundred bucks, want to do this again next week?” his eyes instantly lit up, agreeing with you.
-Adam- He wasn’t pleased to be wearing clothes, but to make you happy, he would, just for a bit. The chat was alive with thirst and you scowled as you both read them, announcing to the camera, “C’mon guys, that’s my dad!” this made things worse and you started to regret doing this. Adam was okay, making it almost halfway through the round before he saw Jason killing your character and he gasped, “My baby!” he tried to rush Jason, and succeeded in punching him twice, before being gutting himself. He stared at the screen with a blank stare before he vowed revenge and the chat was here for it, finding it hilarious. He didn’t get jumped scared like the others, he would flinch when you screamed and he did flinch when he got attacked by Jason once or twice, but he was the calmest of the three who streamed with you. You were surprised when Adam asked if he could do this again with you, not every time, but once in a while and you beamed up at him, welcoming the idea of it.

Finally finished playing Legends: Arceus-- the main storyline, at least, I have not completed the full Dex, but I did everything else. Some thoughts below.
Tumblr media
So, there's a lot this game has going for it. There are lots of lovely natural environments to run around in and explore, and the pokemon really do feel integrated into a complete world, full of personality and ways of interacting with them you just don't get in other games. The controls feel good, the mounts are very fun to use, the aesthetic is on point, and the story's pretty fun. Crafting is a neat addition to the game, there's plenty of side-quests, and there's some interesting new battle mechanics. Overall, they switch things up from the mainline games and try a lot of new things, which I do commend them for.
But, um. Here's the thing. I really hate the gameplay, for the most part. Which is why I bought the game and really, really wanted to enjoy it, and I tried several times to play through, but each time I got so intensely bored I just couldn't go through with it. Don't get me wrong, catching pokemon and using berries and stun items and other stuff feels good, and it feels fun. For like, the first hour. But you have to keep doing it.
Over and over and over.
I just don't enjoy catching a billion pokemon and grinding out other research tasks, like beating up on wild pokemon in various ways, using a specific move a certain number of times, etc. It's so mindless and dull and grindy and boring. You know how PokemonGo is mostly just . . . catching pokemon? Yeah. That gets old, I hate that. I can see how it's just chill and relaxing for some people, but it just isn't for me. I did my damned best to get into it, I promise, but I never did. It was a slog the whole way.
I tried to make it more interesting to me by doing a "bug only challenge." I was only allowed to catch and use bug types, the whole game. (The exceptions are plot-required catches: namely, the Tutorial pokemon and a Dusknoir at some point in the main storyline) And it . . . was sorta nice, I guess? But it didn't do much to make it more fun to me. In some ways it made it even more of a slog since it's harder to earn Star Ranks when you're severely limiting the species you catch. Still, I'm kinda proud I was able to do it, I guess?
Trainer battles in the game are frustrating, too, due to their rarity. You do have battles in the game, and new battle mechanics to try out, too, which gives you a desire to have battles-- especially since it can break up the monotonous research tasks. However, battles are so incredibly rare, and typically incredibly, incredibly easy and are over in almost an instant. You never get to really use the pokemon you've trained. And I get it, the emphasis of the game is research, not battling, since battling is still in its infancy in this era. It still feels frustrating though. I craved battles.
I didn't get to ever feel attached to my team, either. Since most of the game involves research tasks, a lot of those tasks involve battling against wild pokemon. If I used my main team for all that, they'd get way overlevelled in a hurry. So I was always using different individuals. I hardly ever saw my main team, so I did not get the chance to bond with them emotionally-- especially since we rarely had trainer battles anyway.
I didn't feel attached to most of the characters in the game either, to be frank. This isn't any fault of the writing, I actually think the writing was very strong in this game, this is more of just a personal preference. The Pokemon Professor is fine enough, but I never got over the disgusting pube-hair look he has going on his face (I am allowed to dislike characters for shallow reasons, okay). Rei was okay, but I certainly didn't feel fond over him. The leaders of the Pearl and Diamond clans were okay I guess, but the 'arguments' about time and space were so fucking stupid and took up most their screen time, so it kind of ruins them. I just, I dunno, I didn't feel strongly about any of them.
Except for Volo. I always liked him. (The moment I saw him I hoped he was a butch lesbian and got all excited. When I found out he was a dude I was a bit disappointed but oh well, he's still pretty) He was friendly and charismatic and I appreciated his curiosity and his wanderer's spirit.
It's a shame I didn't play and finish the game when I first bought it, because then I might not have been spoiled to Volo's little twist at the end. But, finding out Volo's heavy involvement in the game and the twist at the end was what motivated me to bother finishing the game, so. There's that. I really don't think anything else would have motivated me, because the gameplay was just such a slog for me.
I am glad I bothered to finish the main story, though. It was interesting. I do love the premise of people being very wary and frightened of pokemon and exploring that kind of world. Portraying pokemon in a scarier role was a bold move for the franchise and I love them exploring that side. I LOVE pokemon chasing after you and attacking you directly and the 'alpha' pokemon mechanic and the spookiness of it all. And the story is honestly a neat one. The idea of MC being displaced in time and space and having to work for their room and board has a cozy-survival feel to it, and the deep mistrust of everyone and slowly earning their respect was interesting. Although I did feel actively annoyed that no matter how much work I did, and how many requests I fulfilled, people still often treated me with mistrust. But I think that was the point, to be honest!
When you quell the final Noble and the sky goes boom, that's when things get truly fun, though. I love that Kamado turns on you, which was not too surprising since he'd been one of the ones who really banged on and on about mistrusting you the most. I LOVE the short scene of showing you being walked out of the village as you're banned. I LOVED the feeling of being suddenly on your own, and I LOVE that both Pearl and Diamond clans turned their backs on you so that they wouldn't risk war with Galaxy. And who is there when you have no one else to turn to, alone in the wilderness, when you need a friend the most?
Volo.
He brings you to Cogita, where she fulfills the heavy burden of Exposition Lady. The years of bearing that burden of Exposition have turned her tired and a little snippy, apparently (in truth she's only snippy with Volo, and I think it's because she senses a bad aura, but from an innocent standpoint it seems needlessly snippy, since Volo's Mask is a genuinely nice guy and he's given a nearly flawless performance). I don't know if Cogita was even needed for the story, since Volo's specialty is myth research and he could have easily given us that exposition and also given us a neutral ground to shelter at while the other clans turned their backs on us. But whatever, they wanted a Cynthia ancestor, I can understand that. Dang her house was pretty to look at, and the music there was great. They really put effort into that part.
And then you go and forge the red chain and climb the mountain and . . . potato guy? Why are you here? Oh, he's randomly a ninja. Actually, that part was hilarious and I loved it, I had a grudge against Beni the ENTIRE game because he didn't want to serve me his stupid mochi, so I was so excited to kick his ass. And the extra lore was nice, not to mention the extremely rare chance to have a battle. Anyway, after that, you battle the boss and then take care of the scary Legendary pokemon and all that jazz, and the story . . . ends. Rather abruptly, to be honest. It felt a bit sudden, as if Act 2 was cut a little short. I think it's because the post-game is still what you'd call the main story. Post-game content normally is extra, bonus stuff, but man, if you skip the post-game plot in Arceus, you'll be missing a whole chunk of actual story. Tbh I think they shouldn't have rolled credits 'til the end of the Volo battle, but that's nitpicking. Besides, it amuses me to think some people stopped after the credits and never learned the truth about Volo, which is just a hilarious thought.
Act 3 takes place after a festival celebrating the fact MC saved the world and the Diamond and Pearl clans no longer need to fight (sadly, we don't get to see the festival though!! other than a tiny photo in the credits!) It's pretty short and mostly running around doing errands involving facing off against legendaries and mythicals; the most satisfying errand was a rematch with Kamado because it was a trainer battle aaaaaa!! So few of those. And then we climb the mountain again because Volo, um, really wants to meet the creator's 'unwanted child' for some reason . . . sounds like a good idea right??
The battle with him was fun. Having Cynthia's banger theme was hype, didn't expect it. I was doing the bug challenge run, my team was levels ~60-65, and I beat him on my first go, down to my last pokemon, Heracross on full health.
And then he brings out Giratina without letting me heal. Ahaha, uhhm.
Thankfully I had a lot of Max Revives stuffed in my bag which I FINALLY had a use for. The second phase for Giratina was not expected, so that was a fun surprise, but I scraped by on a few more max revives and careful juggling, and we won. (I dunno what happens once you meet Arceus itself, because I think I need to 100% the Dex for that to happen, but presumably our character can finally return home.)
Was it a good game? Yes, objectively speaking, definitely. I think Legends: Arceus was a very strong game. The writing was very good, and that's a precious rarity in Pokemon games. The world itself was carefully designed, polished, pretty, and felt like truly exploring nature and encountering pokemon, in a unique and refreshing way. The gameplay tried something very new and it generally implemented its intentions very well-- it felt fun to control the character, to throw pokeballs, to craft and collect items, to use mounts, and go up against the Nobles. The story and the universe cast pokemon in an exciting new perspective.
It's just a shame that a million grindy research tasks are so utterly boring to carry out, because the main thrust of the game and what you spend the most time on just plain sucked for me to do. So much so, that I did not enjoy most of my experience playing this game. But oh well, what can you do?

I have decided to jump onto the Twst x Pokemon train, so have my picks for Heartslabyul pkmn teams! (Yes, some of them have been stolen ideas, but man, people are correct)
Tumblr media
There is definitely a Theme I chose for Cater. Due to the rose aspect of the dorm. I wanted all the Heartslabyul members to have at least one grass type, so I thought that Fomantis would work well! Dedenne is there for Cater’s connection to the internet and stuff, plus it’s a cute pikaclone, so it’s a good parallel to Mimikyu (Who he secretly likes the most, yet is one of the Pokemon he uses the least) Sylveon is there for funsies :)
Tumblr media
Another clear theme here of food. For his token grass type I chose Eldegoss, simply cause I thought it fit him. Smeargle is there for his “Paint The Roses”/“Doodle Suit” and Alcremie would have the clovers instead of the strawberries, but the site I was using didn’t have that option, so oh well
Tumblr media
First off, Inteleon is there bc I wanted to have Ace, Deuce & Yuu have a starter trio, and I thought it’d make sense for Ace to choose the one that’s effective against Yuu’s, and Deuce would have the one weak against Yuu’s, and since I wanted to give Ace Cinderace, that means that Deuce gets Inteleon. + color coding fun. Why those three? ADeuce is from Twst Britain. Galar is basically pkmn Britain. Or wtvr. I’m American, I don’t know these things lol. Scraggy is an obvious choice, and his token grass type would have to be Breloom for the fighting type aspect :) Bagon makes sense to me as both are aiming to be something greater. Don’t worry buddy, you’ll learn to fly one day. Patrat feels like a good fit, since I wanted to give him a route one pkmn, and Patrat fit him best to me. Flamigo is another fighting type, and more importantly represents the Heartslabyul flamingos
Tumblr media
Cinderace has already been explained, but Vespiquen is for ME and ME alone. But uh, roses=flowers=bees. Vespiquen 👍 Nicket just felt like an Ace pkmn, and Pidgy is the most Normal pkmn out there, so Ace, being the most normal person in NRC, it makes sense. Plus Ace’s wind magic. Shaymin, while yes, is a mythical, but shh, it’s the closest thing that pkmn has to hedgehogs (I’m pretty sure at least) and it’s sky form just fit Ace a lot to me. And again, wind magic. Corvisquire was just for the vibes honestly. If you’d like, you can switch out Vespiquen for idk, Rattata or Raticate and Corvisquire for a different rt. 1 pkmn in your head 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
Roserade is obvious, and again, Shaymin for the hedgehogs. Rapidash is for the equestrian club, plus the fire aspect of Riddle. I wanted Riddle to have a feminine pkmn for the queen aspect, but a lot of them I could see Vil with too, and I didn’t want to repeat pkmn too much (at all if possible, but that might be a bit easier said than done, and I’m not that far in planning this yet to know) plus I wanted another fire type, so Delphox fit. I had already given Sinistea to Trey, so Sinistcha is now Riddle’s. For Comfey, I wanted to give him a pkmn that represented his mom, and since his parents are medical mages, I wanted to give Riddle a “medical” pkmn too. (His dad would have a Blissey and his mom would have Audino, methinks) So add the “medical” aspect plus the “rose(/flowers)” aspect, and you get Comfey
And as a bonus!
Tumblr media
(Pls Twst, Chenya/RSA cards WHEN?)
I didn’t want to give him a full team, so Spinda feels obvious to me, Skitty bc cat and Meowstic bc I wanted him to have a psychic pkmn + cat (side note, I honestly really wanted to give Riddle an espurr, but I couldn’t justify it enough to myself to actually give him one, so oh well)

You know what, let's talk about palworld. I dont have anything else going on until 9:40.
One of the biggest talking points I see brought up with this game is the unoriginality. And uh... yeah. I'm yet to see a pal that doesn't have a DIRECT analogue to one or two pokemon. That said that is without playing the game, but still.
Now, I don't actually give a fuck about the integrity of pokemon's copyright. And you know what, I don't think most people who are bringing this up do either. People aren't "white-knighting" for the billion-dollar company, I think they're mostly just pointing out that it's pretty lame for a pokemon clone to have such unoriginal designs. (I think. I haven't personally seen every individual tweet about palworld.)
I mean, even ROBOPON had original designs. (Even if that meant that one of them had to be a toilet.)
Tumblr media
Same goes for heavy-hitting pokemon-likes like Yo-Kai Watch, and the ones that are borderline fan-games like Coromon. A lot of the fun comes from the original creature designs. Everything I see of Palworld looks like they wanted to have the real pokemon, but had to do some legally distinct homework-copying. It reminds me of Watchmen, where Alan Moore wanted to use DC comics characters, but had to use "analogues" of them instead.
There's also a lot of unoriginality from what I've seen of the gameplay. The world looks very "generic open world," and a lot of the Juice of this game seems to be a bunch of other popular games kinda... conflated. That said, it's a little ironic to be complaining about unoriginality when everyone else has already pointed out that it's unoriginal... or is it fitting? who knows.
Also one of them is yellow totoro. How Wacky.
A lot of people also seem to take issue with the, uh... edge, of this game. Now while "Pokemon with GUNS" absolutely sounds like something an insecure teenager would come up with after being told by their schoolfriends that pokemon is for babies, I welcome it honestly. First-Person-Shooter gameplay is a pretty cool addition to make to this genre. That said, some other elements kinda seem like they were implimented by someone trying to look cool in front of a 14-year-old. But uh, I can't really comment on that, since the internet can't be trusted, and I haven't played the game. Can you actually sell peoples' body parts in this game? I don't know if I trust that random article I saw.
Part 29: THE POKEMON KILLER??????
no.
Do you guys remember Yo-Kai Watch? remember when that was a big deal? How many of you even knew that the series had a 3rd and 4th game? Probably a statistically unlikely number of you, because this is a website full of cool nerds. That said, it's pretty clear to see that most people do NOT remember the LAST big pokemon killer.
Also, nintendo isn't gonna sue. The developers aren't formally marketing it as "pokemon with guns," no aspect of the gameplay was patented by gamefreak, and while derivative, the pals are juuuust barely distinct enough to not infringe any copyrights. I think. I'm no copyright lawyer, this is just how I see it. The pokemon company hasn't ever, to my knowledge, gone after anything that was derivative of pokemon unless it was something like a fangame that was directly using their IP. (Ironically, the type of game that impacts their profits the LEAST.... sigh...)
And you know what, while Palworld isn't gonna kill pokemon... I think nothing but good can come from letting the pokemon company think that it WILL. Because let's be real here, if ANY series needs some competition, it's pokemon. SOMEBODY has to force them to get their shit together.
And yeah, as dubious as I am about palworld... I can't lie. It looks SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER than pokemon violet. (Both graphically, and just, uh, in general.) And you know what, I would still say that even WITHOUT gen 9's crazy technical issues.
"Nintendo will NEVERRR ALLOW THIS ON SWITCH LOL!!!!"
Have you seen the shit they WILL allow on switch? Go on the eshop right now. Scroll past enough hentai games, and you'll probably also see at least one legally-distinct pokemon fangame like nexomon, coromon or temtem. Why would nintendo not allow such a hotly-selling game on their platform. If the game is going to make bank either way, why would they NOT choose the option that means THEY GET A CUT OF THE PROFITS? Something that, by this logic, they would think that they're owed to begin with? I get that nintendo and the pokemon company tend to be counter-intuitive and stubborn, but I think we can trust them to do the thing that makes them More Money.
Overall: Palworld is... interesting. A lot of aspects of it are VERY uninspired, but I can't see it doing anything but good. Even if you hate it on principle (the old "Digimon Sucks!" Syndrome), at the very least it can serve as a lesson to actual pokemon.
Okay so pokemon probably won't implement GUNS, but hopefully a wildly successful clone like this might give them the idea that they might actually have to TRY to make money in future. Or maybe they'll get it into their heads that they could make even MORE money if their pokemon games were also fresh, interesting, and... good.
Well all-in-all, while I probably won't be playing palworld anytime soon (and who knows if my curiosity will still be itching by the time it comes to a platform I actually own) I think its presence is more likely than not a net positive.
It's worth mentioning that I don't have, like, credibility... this is just my take on things. Why was it necessary to give my take? Because I'm so much cooler and more important than everyone else, obviously. But that doesn't mean that I know shit.

me and my friend got into a discussion about ingo and cynthia
not in like a shipping manner bc the submas twins are aroace icons but in like a 'who would win' manner.
we've come to the conclusion that in a 1 on 1, if ingo had a bit of prep (i.e. giving haxorus trailblaze to counter gastrodon and then a haban berry (to halve the first dragon-type hit from garchomp)) ingo would probably win. not easily, mind you, but he'd probably get by by the threads on his hat
i have a much deeper dive below the cut so if for some reason you want to read my unhinged thoughts 1 by 1, yknow what to do
i want to mention that the calculations i do later on are made using this calculator made by smogon.
now i want it to be clear that this is all assuming that each trainer doesnt switch out their pokemon to try and counter one another
cynthia: spiritomb - roserade - gastrodon - lucario - milotic - garchomp
ingo: crustle - klinklang - garbodor - excadrill - haxorus - chandelure
spiritomb may not have a direct counter, as none of ingos pokemon can learn fairy-type moves, but he can stall it out with toxic and venoshock on garbodor if he can tank a couple psychics from spiritomb
roserade can be taken out by excadrill's aerial ace (ingo, real talk, why do you have that?), poison jab, chandelure's overheat or garbodor's psychic
gastrodon doesnt have a direct counter either, but as i mentioned above i think that if ingo had haxorus learn trailblaze, then he'd be golden - but as it stands, base moves, no change, i think he'd just have to brute force it
lucario folds as soon as haxorus, crustle or excadrill use earthquake. he gets hit hard by chandelure's overheat, AND garbodor's focus blast (if it hits)
milotic also doesnt have a direct counter, unless you count klinklang's volt switch, which he could probably cheese with garbodor + toxic / volt switch from klinklang back and forth
now garchomp ... this is honestly what started the discussion. i wholeheartedly believe that if ingo gave haxorus a haban berry, then he would beat garchomp. garchomp's strongest dragon type move is only dragon rush, while haxorus has dragon claw.
if garchomp uses dragon rush, haban will halve the damage. there's still a 6.3% chance for it to OHKO, (Lvl 66 0 Atk Garchomp Dragon Rush vs. Lvl 50 0 HP / 0 Def Haban Berry Haxorus: 129-153 (85.4 - 101.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO) but unless ingo gets really unlucky (or gets my luck) he'll be able to tank the hit with at least a LITTLE bit of health left.
+1 Lvl 50 252 Atk Mold Breaker Haxorus Dragon Claw vs. Lvl 66 0 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 180-212 (75.3 - 88.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
now youre probably asking 'but garchomp would just outspeed haxorus for the first time, not allowing for the 2hko opportunity!!!!' youre wrong, actually. in terms of EVs, even in pokemon platinum cynthia's team didn't have EV training at all, and based on my research her garchomp has a neutral nature. this means that haxorus, who has jolly, outspeeds garchomp by THREE POINTS.
haxorus has 163 speed - garchomp has 160.
ingo is beating cynthia.

oh my god i never told you guys abt my disaster twins competitive pkmn players concept. one sec ill put it under a cut for you bc this might get long lmao
so basically. gen 9 came out, and the boys, in their recent-switch glory, were like omg hell yes. game time. donnie and leo both get violet and mikey and raph both get scarlet (theyve got their own games bc they would tear each other apart if they had to share physical copies trust me) and generally trade around exclusives and chill etc etc. also while im on this leo picks quaxly, mikey is a toss up between fuecoco and quaxly, raph picks fuecoco obvs, and donnie picks sprigatito, as does april when she gets her own copy of violet later (which she honestly only chose for the loyalty points lmao she likes karaidon better)
anyways i was saying. donnie is one of those nerds who like perfectly iv trains his normal ass in-game team and builds perfect compositions around typings and looks up the gyms types n stuff and he was SO excited when he learned abt tera types and how they impacted team comps
leo on the other hand has the messiest type crossover and team comp EVER but still manages to thrash his opponents bc he uses really good movesets and strategies
the twins get into watching competitive videos while they play violet in silence together (hashtag parallel play) until donnie eventually starts commenting on weird stat spreads and leo eventually bursts out about shitty move choices and weird sets, or leo starts showing donnie videos abt odd pkmn getting high in latters, and then they start watching showdown battles...
and they lightbulb.
donnie loves building teams more than anything else, loves making them efficient as humanly possible.
leo loves showing the potential of odd pokemon and would kill for a good strategic challenge after all this time (hes been protecting against nemona and using electroweb against gym leaders, poor guy).
and, well, its not like you need anything special to get on the ladder in violet...
they start out simple, donnie building a basic team and leo reviewing it before going at the basic gen 9 ladders.
they kind of wreck house.
they just start going at the ladders with that team in their free time, then a different one when they get bored, then one with a few oddballs when donnie decides to ask leo what pokemon he wants to use, then they get kind of bored of just paldean pokemon so donnie gets to work understanding showdown...
but while its fun, they dont have anyone to brag to, because their brothers have no fucking clue what theyre talking about.
donnie has experience with youtube, right?
so they set up a little joint thing; a channel called disasterx2, no webcam, just videos about ladder battles. they end up specializing both in unique teams and movesets and in just vids about breaking down walls in ladders with a normal team. what makes both nifty is that donnie explains the whole team comp in a separate video to the battles, and the aesthetic quality is improved by donnies sensibilities and mikeys input (he was absolutely excited when they asked him to help with it. leo was no help. so much offense, actually, i have a feeling his fashion sense is good but the moment you try to make him make something look good visually on its own hes screwed.), and leos strategies are batshit, and ofc the boys are the boys, they go on tangents sometimes when they do real-time audio during battles and sometimes they just. dont cut them out. raph and mikey make guest appearances sometimes, april cheers them on on occasion, her and raph are very relieved bc its finally something non destructive they can spend their time on, its all great.
leo very often picks pokemon and movesets out and then donnie provides the pokemon (through breeding and stat spread tweaking, because god knows hed love that nerd shit). donnie likes it because 1. how leo uses those outlier pokemon is very interesting and 2. it gives him an opportunity to think about how to apply the right stats, natures, etc to apply to the pokemon and moves leo chose.
one of my favorite ever headcanons is that leo gets quiet when he focuses. like, dead quiet, and terrifyingly quiet. hes well known in their fandom for being very chatty over voiceover and then pretty quiet whenever hes playing challenging battles. donnie doesnt understand the strategies all that well so when leo gets too focused he just talks a lot abt the stat spreads and they add extra text to the video lmao. sometimes they utilize their clueless family members to have them ask questions they wouldnt have considered due to their knowledge in videos, sometimes donnie snags mikey while leos too quiet when theyre doing real-time audio, etc the fam knows theyre just glad theyre having fun
looks around flips through my mental notebook. nods twice. thats it i think! basically i think itd be fun if the twins played competitive but donnie built the teams and leo played hehe. i thought of it one day and it just stuck with me. anyways thanks for sticking w me through this long post that i need to end before my phone glitches out oops

The Great All Generation Nuzlocks Roundup - Part 2
A continuation of Part 1, this encompasses the remaining games.
BLACK 2 - I love you Unova I love you so much you're so fucking good. I know B/W1 like the back of my hand, they're like home to me. So I went with B/W2 for additional challenge and just because of the broader encounter variety. Little did I suspect, that fate would have something in store for me.
This game had by far the most tumultuous early game, and it is in fact the game I wiped most in! I wiped three times before the second badge, and two of those were at Cheren! However, soldiering on, we eventually broke through the early game and clean through to the opposite side of a run. For most of this run a core contributor was a Magneton which I gave Eviolite to. As expected, a Steel/Electric type with 1.5x defensive stats is incredible for in game purposes, however, I blundered them away late in the run. Despite being consistent and undeniably helpful, I wasn't all that torn up by the loss. It actually freed up my team to have less type weakness overlap! This is definitely one of the stronger teams overall we got, with Whimsicott in particular truly surprising me with the sheer number of enemies it could just sit on and whittle down at little to no risk. A true champion.
But most importantly of all, our friend returned to us! A 10% chance of encounter, in only one location, Chargestone Cave. I didn't even know Nosepass could appear there! I was ecstatic and broke naming convention for the return of our true friend, Cao Cao the Probopass. This run, which had overcome the trials of the early game, now held the Mandate of Heaven and was destined for success. But getting through wasn't enough. Our true quest was now getting Cao Cao through to the end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Unlike in Platinum, he had a +Sp. Attack nature this time and with Power Gem could dish out some serious damage! A very slow Volt Switch also allowed him to safely pivot us into our other team members to keep momentum up and enable a lot of powerful plays. Mienshao was a remarkable lategame encounter who truly did a lot to trivialize the late and endgame and paired well for a Volt/Turn core with Cao Cao. A very powerful team indeed, though Ampharos was mostly just There and saw no use in any major battle. She simply was late game, just-in-case backup filler after we lost Magneton on the Plasma Frigate.
In the end, not only did we succeed in getting our new friend through to the end of the game. He even dealt the finishing blow to Champion Iris. Fate blessed us with a second chance and we did not squander it!
In his well earned retirement, we've managed to move him all the way up to Paldea, thanks to his return in Kitakami. Any Region, Any Adventure, True Friends Always Stick Together!!
I love Unova and now I have another great memory thanks to it. Truly the GOAT region.
This game had a nickname theme - Food Biproducts, and Cao Cao
Total Wipes - 3 (Wild Magnemite Gym Leader Cheren Gym Leader Cheren)
Y - I hadn't played through Y except the once at launch, so I was honestly rather excited to give it another try. I did, however, challenge myself to not use any of the gift pokemon given to the player since you can make a whole team of them and I had a great time for it.
Gameplay wise, I quite like Kalos. It has great aesthetics and introduced pretty much nothing but great new designs. Unfortunately, however, it contains Writing and Characters and that part is basically all bad. I do think there's a seed of an interesting story with Lysandre and Team Flare but like, damn, they totally beefed it on this one, lmao.
Oh well, at least I had fun! And I don't have much else to say.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aerodactyl and Snorlax were our absolute GOATs this run, plowing through most of the game. We actually blundered away Oats on the literal last trainer in Victory Road by not playing around a crit and I REALLY didn't want to grind up another Pokemon, so I simply carried his fainted body through the Elite Four and Diantha, largely on the back of Garchomp. This run really did endear me more to Garchomp, whom I've never used before and never been the biggest fan of. Even with a -Attack nature in the Fairy Region she simply annihilated everything I set her upon. Great pokemon, makes any team dramatically better for having it, lol.
Overall Kalos was exactly as mediocre as I remembered. But a mediocre Pokemon game is still quite fun minute to minute, so it's not all bad and it really let me look forward to the next region, which does away with TMs and is generally excellent.
Garchomp Sweep.
Total Wipes - 1 Gym Leader Viola
SUN - I recently played through Ultra Sun for the first time and jeez that game is quite the letdown compared to the vanilla version. Almost every change made worsens the experience in some way, and in many cases outright erases core character's arcs. It's not totally without merit, but picking vanilla Sun was an easy choice.
Alola is just plain fun. I had a great time but also don't have much to say! This run overall went pretty smoothly with the only critical loss being our Decidueye at Aether Paradise super late in the game! As a result, Exeggutor was a super late filler who ended up doing almost nothing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Almost every member of this team impressed me though. I genuinely did not know Toucannon was so good! An incredible moveset and genuinely great stats for the early and mid game let him do a ton of work! Undeniably falls off late, but that's okay. Eviolite Charjabug is also shockingly great as a pivot and defensive stopgap for most of the game. It was almost better unevolved than fully evolved, lol. The real star of this team in the late game was Carracosta, what a beast. Shell Smash setups with sturdy and wide lens for high base power, perfectly accurate STAB just CRUSHED the elite four, champion, and final Hau fights.
Alola was fun, easy breezy, and a nice step up from Y, though I think it's the game that took by far the longest to clear. It does have a lot of cutscenes, but I like the charcaters and story so that's fine.
Total Wipes - 0
SHIELD - I'm a Galar appreciator. This region has issues but the core gameplay experience is not one of them. In fact, I think Galar has one of the strongest campaigns in the series for purposes like this, it's very Arcade-like. Brisk pacing, a well balanced difficulty curve, a shockingly tough final boss, and just a great and fun mechanic in dynamaxing. This game is a lot of fun to play through and I was pretty happy to get to return to it. I love cooking curry and playing with my funny guys in camp but I had to be careful not to do that so it wouldn't give me mechanical benefits, lol.
On the story side it's thin boned and that's fine, imo. After several generations of more serious or involved stories it's a nice palette cleanser for the franchise and further it helps serve the core experience of this game being 'you start the game and are in the wild area with access to 100+ species within 30-45 minutes'. There is truly no region better for, simply, playing through with a new set of 6 guys you've never used before. Even with that thin plot I still think Hop is the best rival in the franchise's history. He has a strong, easily identifiable character arc and uses the most different species of any trainer in the entire series besides N, who's whole thing is he uses completely different teams every time.
Hop struggles with inferiority to Leon and then to you and in the mid game dramatically changes his team around several times just to try and beat you! He even boxes his starter for one of them and NO other rival does that! In the postgame he realizes he's not necessarily in the top 1% of battling trainers, but pursues a career as a researcher which is great! I really like Hop, he's ace. I just wish his final team weren't so shit though. He uses so many different, cool, species and his final team has both Dubwool and Snorlax on it, for some reason? It's weird.
Anyway, I love playing through this region and this team rocked. I blundered away several encounters, including losing Badnik the Golisopod, at level 50, to Raihan because I didn't pay attention to the fact that his Duraludon has Rock Type coverage. Mantine was a very late filler pick, however, he actually accomplished a good bit and was a great teammate for what little time we had him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This team has the biggest gap in level between its top runner and 6th man, and that's largely because I saved every rare candy in the game to ensure Cinderace specifically was equal to Leon's Charizard before that fight. It's such a strong mon I wanted to maximize what it could do. This region does have extremely few encounters outside of the Wild Area so it had two modifications to normal encounter rules - 1) In areas with no Wild Encounters (the two Mines) the first pokemon I run into is my encounter. One was a Drillbur and the other was Badnik, both of which I lost :(
2) I'm allowed to have one encounter from the Wild Area each time the game directs me there, for a total of three. Once right at the start, once after clearing Kabu's Gym, and once after clearing Raihan's gym. For these, I still took Random Encounters from shaking grass, but I did allow myself the nicety of choosing which region I wanted them from.
Overall, the former had a moderately large impact on the run since Golisopod was a great encounter but the latter didn't end up mattering really at all.
The true star of this run was our Route 1 encounter, Greedent. He is Him. Payback is the first TM in the game, immediately giving him a 100BP Dark move to hit ghosts with. Body Slam for STAB, Cheek Pouch gives RIDICULOUS survival with sitrus berries (58% extra HP in every battle! Equal to basically 150 extra health in the mid and late game!) all game long, stockpile for defensive boosts, rest to net heal even while continuously attacked. He swept the ghost gym, he swept the fairy gym. He swept half of Leon's team, including Haxorus and Dragapult. HE IS HIM!!! Greedent is so fucking strong and is my friend, I love you Greedent.
This game is the first time since Crystal where our starter made it all the way through.
Total Wipes - 0
VIOLET -
RAAAAAAUUGGGHH THIS GAME RUNS LIKE DOGSHIT LMAO!!!! IT'S BEEN LIKE 6 MONTHS AND IT STILL RUNS AWFUL!!!!!!!
However, I do like Violet for what it is. It lacks so may QoL features and just generally basic niceties and polish and yet it's so much more than the sum of it's parts. I guess that's what happens when you get the author of Cowboy Bebop to help write your game's story. Like, imaging getting that guy and then rushing the game out after a ONE YEAR development cycle. Geez.
Paldea itself is a fairly forgettable region that is full to bursting with incredible Pokemon designs and characters. It's the small things that are memorable rather than the region itself and I truly wish to see a 'complete' version of this game someday. Hopefully, the game being rightfully lambasted and made a mockery for releasing blatantly unfinished and buggy as fuck will light a fire under The Pokemon Company's ass and force them into actually giving GameFreak time to produce their damn games! You know GF themselves want to put out better than this!
Still, it has its strengths. Again, the scenario design and gameplay are quite fun and they're what I would consider the only 'truly' nonlinear Pokemon games. Gens 1 and 2 have 'Fake Nonlinearity' since doing things in a nonlinear fashion is basically a waste of time and effort. Those games were still made with specific paths in mind, but Paldea wasn't (mostly). While the gyms, titans, and team star encounters each have set levels, you're still free to do them out of order and you actually get the breadth of the region to explore and run around basically immediately. If you master some basic movement tech you can get practically anywhere without any of Koraidon/Miraidon's upgrades, too! The one true downside to this is only Gym Badges increase Pokemon obey levels when it really should be any badges that do.
For encounters in this game I only got encounters via Tera Raid Dens (Besides the Starter and Poco Path, which can't have Raid Dens) since those are truly random! This region also has BY FAR the fewest possible encounters with this method, at only thirty-ish, which makes every last one count! Thankfully, with easy access to vitamins, EXP candies, and nature changing mints, maximizing your few encounters is easy and fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting a Steel Tera Type Applin as our very first random encounter set the stage for the whole run. Eviolite Dipplin was an unbreakable monster. Dragon/Grass coverage with Recover and Reflect made a mockery even of super effective hits and crits. This whole team is slow and bulky (besides Cetitan) but Dipplin was the slowest and bulkiest of all by a mile. All six members worked in great harmony and were able to overcome all challenges without any real risk or nail biter moments. They were just plain consistent and strong. Lumineon is a firmly Mediocre Pokemon, but thanks to aforementioned mints and vitamins, we were able to max out his HP and Physical Defense. With Leftovers, Aqua Ring, and the debuffing moves Chilling Water and Icy Wind, he could turn any physical threat into setup fodder for Skeledirge (Torch Song), Muk (Minimize), Dudunsparce (Coil), or Cetitan (Snowscape + Slush Rush). This team's playstyle was often slow and methodical but could explode into vicious sweeps very easily.
Cetitan in particular truly just bowled over the endgame. The Elite 4, Champion, Final Nemona and Final Boss all got swept mostly or entirely by Cetitan after a single turn of setup with Snowscape. Slush Rush with Ice/Ground STAB on Ice Spinner and Earthquake just annihilated everything. What a monster, I love my huge whale friend. This team was basically perfect and nothing could challenge their stability and strength. A truly excellent note to end on.
This team reached it's 'final' state earliest of all, solidifying after just the fifth gym, whose level cap is 36 while Muk's evolution is 37.
This game is the only one where I completed all endgame content, and still lost no major team members.
Total Wipes - 1 (Team Star Leader Atticus)
I love Pokemon. It's a fun and fantastic series. It's got its ups and downs and right now it's definitely far from what it could, or should, be. But it's just such an impossible to fuck up gameplay loop it's just FUN to raise and bond with new guys!
If you've read this far, thank you! I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into my experiences, and I'm willing to field questions!
My kingdom for Gen 10 to get a six year dev cycle.

If you're dissappointed at Pokemon ScaVio's performance and are in the mood for an indie monster catching game, allow me to shill for my favorite game in a while: Monster Sanctuary
Tumblr media
Monster Sanctuary is, like I said, an indie monster catching game made by moi rai games. It's on Steam (where it's currently having a 66% discount offer), XBOX, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. You play the silent protagonist role of a newly minted monster keeper, with access to one of four starters
Tumblr media
-There were 101 monsters, but the free DLC expansion added 10 more so the final game has 111 different monsters to catch and train
-The battle system is nothing like pokemon. While you still have a 6 monster party, the battles are all 3v3. The battle system is thus geared to making the most out of your team, with passives to help each other, and a combo system that makes the second and third move hit harder, so the order in which you attack becomes important
-There is no speed stat. You choose which monster goes first, second and third, then the enemy does the same. PVP has some extra rules to ensure fairer fights, but let's not worry about that now
-After each fight you get a star rating, depending on a bunch of in-battle factors. Each monster has a drop table of their own, and the better your star rating, the more loot you get from them
Tumblr media
-There are 4 elemental types: fire, water, wind and earth, plus melee, magic, neutral and debuff. Each monster in the game is weak and resistant to one of these, but they don't have a type of their own, so it's not like pokemon, where a water type is weak to grass and lightning. Luckily, the game outright tells you your and your enemy's weaknesses and resistances at the beginning of the battle, plus it also tells you when a move will be weak or strong so you don't have to learn everything
-Speaking of moves, each monster has their own unique skill tree, with active moves (offensive, heals, buffs, debuffs, etc), passives and stat increases
Tumblr media
while plenty of monsters share plenty of skills, the trees are made in such a way that no two monsters feel the same. Each time you level up, you gain one skill point, to be spent unlocking a new skill. Each monster only goes up to level 42, so you can't actually fully unlock the whole tree, but there's an item that resets the tree that's pretty easy to get, so you can experiment to your heart's content to see which build suits your playstyle better. You can also get multiple copies of each monster to try different builds, if that's what you like
-In addition to the skill trees, each monster can be equipped with 1 weapon item, up to 3 accessory items and up to 4 food items. These modify your stats and can give you passives, to add another layer of customization. Don't worry if it sounds overwhelming on paper, the game is really gentle and makes sure to ease you into all the systems slowly and carefully, so you won't be swamped by all the things you can do all at once
-By the way, there are no pokeballs here. You kill the monsters you encounter, and you get an egg drop from them, which you can instantly hatch into a copy of the monster you just killed. No breeding, no running around hatching eggs, just instantly getting what you wanted. The downside is, the eggs don't have a 100% drop rate. Good star ratings improve the chance of egg drops, and tbh I've never heard of anybody who couldn't get all the mons, so don't worry about it. You might have to grind a little, but it's genuinely not that bad
-There are no random encounters. The monsters walk on the overworld and will fight you if you make physical contact with them. You can jump over them (yes, you can jump) to avoid fights if you want, and later you gain access to several monsters with a skill that allows you to bypass fights entirely
Tumblr media
-Yes, monsters have exploration skills. This game has a metroidvania side to it, with each monster having a skill that allows you to sort obstacles. Better jumps, elemental strikes, breaking walls, swimming, etc. As you progress and explore more of the world you will get access to more skills that will unlock more rewards, your standard metroidvania formula. You can freely swap between companion monsters to use whichever skill you need at the moment. Your companion monster will walk or fly alongside you while you're not fighting, so if you've got a fave you can have them by your side the whole game
-You're not limited to 6 monsters. Your fighting party only allows 6, but you can keep every single monster you catch on reserve to swap in whenever you want. They won't get exp from battles unless they're on the main party, but you can use their exploration skills whenever you want. I finished the game and the DLC expansion and I have around 200 monsters total
-There are boss monsters and you can also fight other keepers, though you'll spend most of the game fighting regular monsters. Still, shit can get pretty challenging, so don't lower your guard
-There's New Game+ options, and three different challenge modes. You can stack all three challenges together if you're feeling daring. Oh yeah, and you can like a dozen different save files
So yeah, I love this game, I put over 90 hours in it just for the sheer joy of playing, and while it does have it's downsides (the character customization is shameful tbh, and the story is ok but nothing to write home about), it's damn fun and I wish it were more popular
So yeah, if you end up buying it DM me about it. There's also a discord where the devs hang out so you won't be lacking outside help

Team update. Not a lot changed but uh. This is also like several episodes from my last update so I switched teams a lot.
Elvis is still my starter and he's still rocking it. He's very much doing necromancy and one-shotting Pokemon left and right. He's a good necromancing fire boy.
Calc is also now my Magma Drift (lava surf equivalent) and Surf Pokemon. He can only really do two things and that's "Hit hard with electric type moves" and "Paralyze Pokemon" and honestly it works. Did you know they called him the Drift King back in the wild?
Friend is still cutting down foes and is also now very protective of everyone. They're laughing manically as they cut down their foes and all Dark and Psychic types. They are very much >:)
Zuzu is a Pokemon that Oz found in a cave after fist fighting a Crobat in the dark. They were a Zubat and soon they grew up to be a Crobat and they're a fast gal who can set up Tailwind when needed or just go and kill all Pokemon that are weak to Bug, Flying, and Poison types (Leech life getting buffed is the single most amazing thing to have happened for bug types)
Penn was previously a cafe working Rowlett before wanting to explore the world and now they're with me and he's doing well. Got a good diverse moveset and is decently defensive. They are going to hit everyone hard and he's a bit of a little shit at times.
Shiron is a traded Pokemon and he went and helped with the electric and grass gym. He naturally has Hail set up for him before Aurora Borealis the screens so that Pokemon don't hit as hard as they should. He's doing great as a team member and he goes and helps with the glaring ice type weakness that I now just realized my team has. Oh no.
I could give you a list of Pokemon in rotation but oh boy that will be another ask for another day. See ya.
kiwi I NEED a list of all your pokemon ij rotation, these asks are delightful
