I love me Star Wars time travel shenangians and I am absolutely giggling at the idea of Din going back in time and being, like, an expert in Yoda behavior and antics.
He’s spent so much time with Grogu, he picked up on things that seem to be natural for the species that perfectly align with Yoda.
He knows that they’re a carnivorous, and while they have sharp teeth to cut into meat, they typically swallow their food whole. He knows they like small prey, something usually slimy as it’s easier to swallow, and that food is important to them (as their species burn a lot of energy despite being small - my personal headcanon is that it’s because they’re so naturally in-tune with the force and use it more to often for basic living, thus it takes a lot to replenish that energy); offering food is like showing them off that they’ll be safe and well-fed with you, so when Din offers Yoda a raw, slimy eel as an offering of good-intent, everyone is absolutely baffled, disgusted, and enthralled when Yoda just swallows that mucus-covered atrocity whole and pats his legs, and they’re basically besties now
Din knows that they’re incredibly perceptive to sound due to their large ears, and thus speaks soft and quiet (or, you know, his natural way of speaking 😂) when talking with Yoda. He also knows that it’s easy for them to get ear infections, especially if they get a lot of water or wax-build-up in their ears, so any time after a mission in the rain, or in water, Din offers Yoda space-ear-wax cleaner and Yoda is like knows how to treat a person, this bitch does
And he just ends up getting along so well with Yoda and does things no one even considered to be Yoda thing (because Yoda is a maniac and likes to watch people bask in the confusion of his antics) that it’s just baffling. They don’t know what to do. How the fuck. What the fuck. They’re absolutely baffled, bamboozled, and bewilderment
To summarize, Din is Yoda’s homie and they have brunch every Friday and Din is more than comfortable with Yoda perching on his shoulder because their species likes having the higher ground

Star Trek but instead of the five year mission it's a FIFTY year mission and instead of a ship it's a remote planet to be studied, and everyone who is sent there has committed some sort of crime and that's their rehabilitation. If you arrive on the planet, it's because you've done something big and they want to punish you by putting you in a situation which could kill you. No one knows what the others are in for, unless they explicitly say it, leading to so many rumours. So, so, so many rumours.
Take Spock. Cold, calm Spock. Came with the main group onto the planet. Knows way too much. Quiet. Won't interact, just watches people. Trusts absolutely no one. Completely and ruthlessly logical. The rumours go wild. People are terrified of him. They can't work out what crime could he have done. The main rumour is that he was either a government agent who was a traitor, or an assassin. Everyone believes that at first. Then eventually he tells the people who forced him to befriend them that his only crime was finally saying "no" to his overbearing father. That was it. He didn't want to take the path his father wanted, and after years of taking it he finally had the courage to defy his father- and ended up being thrown away to a distant planet to live or die.
Jim Kirk? He's their leader- he won the fight at the start when they arrived and everyone agreed upon this man leading him. Besides, he's a former army Captain so he's tough. But people see how he gets when truly furious. That dangerous air he carries when confronting someone. Everyone knows this is a man who has killed. They don't know who, or how, or when, they just know that James Kirk has killed before and could do so again- especially if one of his party, his family, is in danger. And the truth? He has killed. He killed a man, not because this was the brother of the man his wife of not even two years left him for, but because this man happened to touch the little girl that Jim and his ex-wife had where he shouldn't have, and Jim lost his mind. Especially because this man, as it turned out, had a track record of doing atrocities like this. It also turned out that this man was also in the elites of the world, and as such his ex-wife's husband had Jim sent to the planet Enterprise for the fifty year mission in revenge. Jim's daughter was only a year old, and Jim will never heal from the fact that he might never even see his daughter, forget being there while she grows up.
Bones? He's there because he helped Jim hide the body. (And also he was causing a stir in the medical community because he was undercharging patients and calling out every single misconduct he saw. Despite the way his attitude would have the people of the planet Enterprise believe, he isn't there for mistreating patients- but rather the opposite)
And so on. Once they arrive at the planet Enterprise, they're there for fifty years with no escape and only two choices: co-operate and build a community or die.

hiii what's good guys : ) i got the absolute pleasure and a privilege of joining @starstrider's 5e planescape campaign as a pallid elf druid (circle of stars) named Idhesur Velalu and so far it's been an incredible blast! Idhesur is a reused character from a one-shot i took part in back in 2022 and since then i've had a hankering to revisit them because i got really attached to the concept. they were due for a slight redesign and so they got one along with an impromptu reference sheet (that doesn't even cover all of the details but thats a problem for the future me). the third image is their original one-shot token that i've attached for fun (and which is also due for a remake...)
Idhesur is old, kinda mean and will sell your grandma's ashes if that means their survival and or if said ashes are worth a damn in the first place. they also use any pronouns! diversity win. they've lost their way in life somewhat but don't let that get to them lest the horrors (decades old suppressed trauma) catch up to them. the usual!

None of the characters in Honkai Star Rail have confirmed birthdays, except March if you want to count the day she was found as her birthday. This kind of makes sense in the game's context. Time doesn't work the same across all of space, and it's likely that every world uses a different calendar unless otherwise standardized by the IPC's Amber Eras (which aren't even consistent with each other to begin with), besides the moot point of a singular date being pretty insignificant to most of the universe in the grand scheme of existence.
However, I really like Genshin Impact's birthday mail sending you messages and gifts from the roster of playable characters. It's a shame HSR doesn't do that. The closest we've gotten to that is the mail where Silver Wolf "hacked" servers to send out 10 fuel to all players, but that was more so for shits and giggles as part of her promotional campaign during her banner.
What I'm trying to say is that I've now unofficially declared February 16th (or the 17th depending on your timezone) to be Yanqing's birthday. That's the day his Character Introduction was posted on Hoyolab, so that's kind of like the day he was "born" and introduced to us. And if that was the day he was found by the General Jing Yuan, that could make for a sad and joyful story too, what with being days after Yuanxiao/the Lantern Festival... I'm cooking, let me sit on this.

Redraw of this October 2022 concept art. I posted ‘what if there was other types of leos besides burning leo’ back when I first made this blog. Now I redo this concept, but with more lore! Below is a document detailing the biology and social/cultural habits of each of these leos.

Thought that is gnawing gently on my brain right now: there a star wars equivalent to the zone of death?
like. on the one hand, every planet seems to kind of have their own laws but also share laws with every other planet in their...whatever the fuck you call a conglomeration of planets that is mostly functionally akin to a county and/or group of nations at best, with every planet part of it as like, a state/member country. Coruscant and Alderaan seem to have differing laws in some ways, and they're both core republic planets - surely the difference in norms gets even wilder between like, Alderaan and Mon Cala.
So: there has to be a place where the planetary boundaries/whatever overlap weird, and sure you have to have a local judge to decide a trial under, say, republic law, but the judge has to be a valid judge as under local laws, and one system says judges can only be Judgement Droids and the other system says trials are invalid if a droid even so much as touches the evidence.
or like, there's a moon that orbits a planet, and six months of the year, the planet is within republic space -- and the moon falls under republic law -- and three months of the year it's in, say, wild space -- so it's just the planetary laws that apply -- and for two weeks at whatever time of the year the planetary orbit brings the moon -- but not the planet -- into like. hutt space. whatever, in which case..the planetary laws don't apply? hutt laws do?? hutt laws and the planetary laws (and by extension republic laws) apply???
On the other hand. Surely the zone of death is less an issue, given how much the gffa legal system seems to run on 'it's not illegal if you don't get caught' at like, a societal level.
On the third hand, gffa version of this song when??

as sad of a show as voyager is, what with this entire crew being stranded from everything they ever knew and loved for potentially the rest of their lives, with clinging to eachother for hope in a flying tin-can through space as the only thing they can really do, with the horrible, abysmal, lonely hopeless feeling the show invokes in it’s best episodes, it’s still so much less lonely than we real humans are i think!
cause these people arent *alone* in the delta quadrant, not really! there are so many planets brimming with life- post and pre-warp. how lucky they are to keep their passions alight with so many alien diplomatic struggles and technological innovations! i’ve always loved how star trek has this bottom line- sure, they’re lost in space and tired and alone, but they’re never *really* alone. Sure, they’re pushed to the edge more times than they can count, facing death more times than they thought possible, but they still have their spirit. they still have their respect for other living things, and the uniquely human skill of haphazardly shuffling things around until it all works out.
It’s nice to watch star trek and live in a universe where we aren’t trapped on our tiny planet, gnawing off our societal and economical limbs like a caged wild animal. To think that the smartest and most capable of us spend all their time shouting into the stars “Hello? Is anyone there?” is so sweet and sad it makes me cry. It must be a universal experience as humans to look up into sky and try to find the stars peeking through the light pollution and to wonder if there’s more.
Really, the thought that if we as a species were just a little bit smarter, a little bit kinder, and a little bit luckier, we could be romping through the stars with our curiosity unrestrained and our knack for making unlikely friends in full-force is just a kind enough thought that lets me sleep at night.
