Sejak jadi badminton enthusiast paska Asian Games 2018, aku mulai belajar seluk beluk olahraga tapok bulu ini. Dari peraturan permainan, level turnamen sampai perhitungan peringkat dunia. Pun istilah-istilah populer di kalangan badminton lovers (BL, re: sebutan untuk pecinta badminton di Indonesia).

Kalau di catur ada istilah sekakmat sebagai salah satu tanda untuk memenangkan pertandingan, di badminton pertandingan dinyatakan selesai jika wasit telah mengucapkan "match won by..." atau dalam bahasa Indonesia "pertandingan dimenangkan oleh...". Selama kalimat itu belum terlontar dari mulut wasit, berapapun jarak poinnya, segala sesuatu bisa terjadi di lapangan.

"Investasi bodong" adalah istilah yang digunakan ketika pemain sudah leading jauh bahkan sudah game/match point, kemudian tertikung oleh lawan dan akhirnya kalah. Agen (atlet) investasi bodong yang paling terkenal dari Indonesia adalah Jonatan Christie (Jojo) karena tertikung 7 poin di babak perempat final BWF World Championship tahun 2022 ketika melawan Chou Tien Chen (CTC) dari Taiwan. Di gim ketiga, Jojo sudah memimpin 20-15 namun gagal mengkonversi 5 match point sampai CTC menyamakan kedudukan kemudian berhasil menang deuce. Meskipun hampir setahun berlalu, poin 20-15 ini masih sering disebut oleh BL sebagai contoh dari investasi bodong.

Kasus investasi bodong lainnya terjadi di Piala Sudirman 2023. Di babak semifinal antara Jepang dan Cina, Jepang sudah memimpin 2-1 dan hanya perlu 1 kemenangan lagi untuk lolos ke babak final dan mencetak sejarah menjadi tim pertama yang mengandaskan Cina di kandang sendiri. Partai penentu dimainkan oleh pasangan ganda putra Hoki/Kobayashi (Jepang) melawan Liu/Ou (Cina). Di gim ketiga, Hoki/Kobayashi sudah memimpin 20-16 dan hanya perlu satu poin lagi untuk menang. Namun, Liu/Ou tetap tenang dan mengubah strategi permainan hingga akhirnya berhasil menikung 20-22. Kedudukan berubah menjadi 2-2 untuk Cina. Cina pun berhasil melaju ke babak final setelah memenangkan partai terakhir, yaitu ganda putri. And the rest is history.

Begitulah yang terjadi di dunia tepak bulu. Sebelum match won by terucap, segala sesuatu masih bisa terjadi.

Feeling Sappy

Hi, hello, yes. Not really sure what this post is about completely, but I’m in a sappy mood and wanna just give some of my thanks to the amazing friends I’ve made here on Tumblr.

So, a little preface, when I first arrived back on Tumblr, I was in a weird limbo with a few other friend groups of mine where I felt kinda out of place or out of the loop, kinda just feeling disconnected in general. I had already written a few one shots and posted them on AO3, and decided to move to Tumblr to do most of my posting since there were so many amazing writers on here for me to follow. I just kinda wanted to start posting my stuff on here as well. Let me tell you, I did not expect to end up with 300 followers and climbing.

The first friend I made was Jess ( @parkerpuffwrites ). Literally, our friendship started with me bringing up that we were both Hufflepuffs 😂. We just continued talking after that, then, like, weirdly, we were both from the same state, and even weirder, like 20 minutes from each other from where I used to live 😱. Let’s just say, when I went to visit home for a month and help take care of my grandmother, we got lunch and talked and it was amazing. She gives amazing hugs and she’s just so amazing and I love her so much 😭🥺. Babe, I cannot wait for when I visit again so we can hang out more. I am so grateful that you replied to my awkward, weird ass and that we became friends. I love you so freaking much!!!! 💕💕💕

Next came the wonderful and amazing Carrie ( @spidey-waffles11 ). Literally my interwebs sister, the Dean to my Sam. I don’t even remember how we started talking. I think I was awkward and said hi after you had followed me, but, like, we connected so quickly. I remember sitting in my doctor’s office talking about broken bones and sprains and other health related stuff. I also remember the amount of fangirling we did over Tom and Haz within the first, like, week of us talking. A lot of yelling and hand claps lolz 😂. I also remember you flipping out when you discovered we live in the same state, and I am SO excited for when I finally get to give you a hug and hang out. I love our gaming days and I’m also grateful you replied to my awkward, weird ass too. I love you so freaking much and thank you for betaing for me when you do and you’re so amazing and I just love you so much, ok 😭🥺!!! 💕💕💕

Then came the wonderful Brit, Katie ( @unholyhaz ). Again, I don’t remember how we started talking, but I remember being so excited when you had followed me and we did start talking. So, in the middle of typing this, I went back in our Tumblr DMs, and I literally just thanked you for following me and that’s how we started talking. We had really started talking once I had gone to visit and help with my grandmother and I specifically remember asking for help when my mother forced me to watch The Lake House cause I’d seen, like, zero Keanu Reeves movies at that point. I also won you over by sending a Stitch gif once my dumb self introduced myself 😂. I can’t wait until you finally visit the states so I can give you the biggest hug ever and we can go to New York and see all the broadway shows together. I love you and your britishness so freaking much and I want you to come visit the States so freaking bad and you’re amazing as well and aaaaaaaah!!!! 💕💕💕

I love the three above with all my damn heart and they are the greatest friends a girl could ask for 😭🥺. The visit and stuff with my grandma was one of the hardest months I’ve had in a long time, and these three were here for me during all of it, listening to me rant about my mother or freak out over taking care of an elderly woman suffering from dementia. They put a smile on my face while I felt I was suffocating under the weight of my anxiety and depression. They are all so damn gorgeous as well, like, oh my god. I would love to know how I got lucky enough for these three to want to be friends with my socially awkward ass. I will take a bullet for these three because I love them so freaking much.

Moving forward, next came the wonderful Jade ( @louistwinslover ). God, I definitely don’t remember how we got started talking, but I know I enjoy talking with you so much. We talked about all sorts of things, and when you approached me about the whole deaf!reader idea you had, I absolutely fell in love with it. I am and always will be one of your biggest supporters hun, and I am always here for you and love you so freaking much! Thank you for being there during that rough month as well! You helped put a smile on my face just as much as the rest of my friends. I’m so glad we got to talking. Not to mention you are drop dead gorgeous. Yes, Imma say it here because you are and I love you so freaking much and hope that maybe one day I’ll get to hug you in person!!! 💕💕💕

The next few, I can’t exactly remember the order we started talking, but you are all just as important to me.

Even though it technically translates into an incomplete sentence fragment, I don't think Melone exclaiming "Di Molto!" is that stupid or even weird.

I see it akin to recent cutesy youth slang or old southern lingo, like "I can't even!" or "Well, I never!"

I think it's incomplete on purpose, meaning to express how overwhelmed with surprise or excitement one is. You say it when you're too in awe to finish your sentence.

Knowing that "Di Molto" translates to "a lot" or "very much", hearing Melone say it makes me think of how Veronica Sawyer replied to Jason Dean's survey answer with "How Very" in Heathers, which was supposed to be a cooler way of admitting delighted surprise.

I feel like that little vocal quirk helps to humanize Melone as a character. It definitely reveals something about his personality in a way. He's likely in his early to mid 20s and although he's a skilled hitman, he's still a person who partakes in the ever-shifting cultures around him when he's not preying on assigned targets. He's probably a pretty hip individual amongst his friends and associates, maybe even a bit preppy and giddy. I find "Di Molto" very cool actually.

Wip: GoGo LoLo!

New WIP idea (OC fanfic): Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: GoGo LoLo!

A story about Louise Lovestar (born J***** Joestar), a trans woman who grew up in a sports family, with her mom being a famous soccer player. Louise always resented sports growing up, not wanting to take up her parents interest but still being put in a soccer team as a child and being seen as a “soccer prodigy”. At the same time facing struggles with expectations of boyhood that was not in line with her identity.

Now 25 years old, Louise is an adult woman that have taken a distance to her parents and left sports behind her. That is, until her mom is suddenly kidnapped, with no ransom but a message for Louise to be at a certain place at a certain time. Louise herself gets kidnapped and wakes up in an underground fight club - but not an ordinary fight club; a fight club where the fights are through sports with no rules except getting the ball in the net.

Here Louise gets paired up with a rag tag team of four others who have had someone or something taken from them, having to put their lives on the line to save what is precious. It doesn’t take long until Louise awakens the power of her soul; the Stand “Yellowcard”, with the ability to banish someone into a yellow card for several minutes. But Louise soon realizes that she is not the only one with special powers..

Team VS Team. Stands VS Stands. One for all and all for one. A tale of teamwork, love, friendship and finding your own path. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: GoGo LoLo!, (not) soon in a duwang near you!
