Thoughts on/Rating the S9 images that will probably be wrong in 3 months LETS GO -

Tecna is the best. Hands down, 10/10. I don’t care if they threw it together at the last minute to avoid backlash, give whoever designed her a goddamn raise. The bob with purple streaks, the vinyl skirt, it’s so perfect I can’t handle it. Me to Reboot Tecna:

Please let that be real. Please let the metal arm stay, Straffi.

My girl Musa is an official SHORT QUEEN, a popular headcannon that’s been going for years. I’m thrilled someone finally listened. Her iconic pigtails are also back, which is a bonus is my book (do they kinda look like Marinette’s from Miraculous? Yes, because Rainbow’s gotta steal one thing per season for Winx). The outfit isn’t my favorite, but better than others I’ve seen her in. A very respectable 8.5/10.

Rainbow’s art department raised enough money for brown paint, which is great news for Aisha! No more whitewashing! Her braids are stellar, her look is sporty, just very cute in general. The color scheme is very different from her original look, but I like it. Give Aisha bright colors. Let her be happy. And now tallest girl? 9/10

Flora’s look is the most similar to the OG series. Really the only difference is that weird ass green jacket - thing looks like it came off a one-day Project Runway challenge. It seems waaaay too structured compared to the rest of the outfit. That’s legit my only note. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it, I guess. 7.5/10

Bloom’s look says 2 things; “I’m Bella Thorne from Shake It Up!,” and Certified Horse Girl™️. I do not vibe with either. Bloom is not either. Why is she in pink again? Why is her belt so big - Bloom is so impatient and always in a rush, do you think she has time to put a belt on every day? I get the skirt is paying homage to the S3 one, but the rest is…a choice. This would be lower if Bloom wasn’t my favorite character. But she is, and it’s not the worst look. 6/10.

No, no, the worst look here is your favorite Solarian princess and mine, Stella. I get Rainbow was trying for a new look, but it doesn’t land for me. I don’t like the sunglasses, I don’t like that her dress is pink because that’s never really been Stella’s primary color - it’s more Flora and Tecna’s (and now Bloom’s I guess because UGH). She’s also wearing sleeves, which Stella rarely wore in the series because she is the fairy of the sun and I always thought that was a cool wardrobe detail. The only times she’s worn long sleeves (as a primary outfit in the season) were in S6 with her Alfea uniform, and Season 8, which barely counts. Just…make it orange. Or yellow, or even blue. It would fix so much. 5/10 for doing this ray of sunshine so dirty.

Also, if we can afford new civilian and transformation outfits for the girls, we can do the same for Ogron and the Black Circle. C’mon guys. Also! Why does Ogron have a dark dragon? What the fuck does that mean? Please do not pull a S8 Valtor on the Wizards. They don’t deserve it. And probably get Duman in there before the fans come after you.

a few things actually:

- i hate chloe’s makeup. so much. like yeah honestly a 14yo would pick it but i hate it dkgfkdhd so yeah definitely switched that shit

- protective friend Chloe!! asked for NO pickles Chloe!!

- her hair also kinda bothers me?? instead of chopping it off i decided on letting the whole ‘growth’ thing come literally in her hair

- same with ‘letting loose’ like her hair being less uptight

- doesn’t mean she doesn’t uphold her own standards for herself tho

- this is if Chloe went to therapy haha (WHICH COULDVE BEEN ACHIEVED-)

- i love the idea of her giving pollen little accessories so they could match- like matching sunglasses and rings n stuff,

- “my queen, who did you commission to get these teeny glasses?” “i dont want to answer that right now, just put them on!” (she paid marinette lmao)

i also want to add, for a queen, there really isn’t much.. regality to her suit??? no fancy accents that suggest wealth or royalty so like. obviously i looked at cat walker’s design and went GIMME!! guys she wears designer shit, why wouldn’t it show up in her QUEEN bee form like?? shiny jewellery! queen shit idk!

this Chloe is redeemable, well written and is also a nice bitch :)

i write this with the thought of her being overtly giving to her friends, like

“DADDY!!” “it’s an invite-only party, darling, we can’t just-” “I WANT THEM INVITED! AND BRING THEM BETTER OUTFITS, trust me, daddy they need it,”

in front of her mother she does act like a spoiled brat but does apologise as soon as she’s gone,, definitely working on that. also whenever she witnesses marinette and her mom having nice moments shes definitely more likely to get akumatised BUT the charm and her mindfulness does get her out of it

…. we really were robbed of redemption arc Chloe huh. so much potential wasted

and fuck it if zoe suddenly exists they have a better relationship because i like sisterhood and chloe needs people to understand her (Zoe’s probably the first to and get closer anyway)

I always wonder what will happen to Nathalie if she takes sides with Ladybug instead of Hawkmoth... if there is a prompt to make this..

After watching scenes of Nathalie doing her work as an assistant and a villain with Hawkmoth *cough* aka. Gabriel *cough* who had no sense of fashion in a monstrosity akuma outfits that he send out to people who feels negative emotions.

And seeing her getting her redemption telling Ladybug aka. Marinette about Gabriel's plans after she had gotten very ill.

What if Nathalie decided to quit the minute she heard what Lila say about Marinette who was a sweet girl with her lies about her being a bad influence to Adrien. When it is Lila who is a bad influence towards Adrien then Marinette when she had witness it herself unlike Gabriel who is under wraps with Lila at the moment. As Nathalie expose the plans between Lila and Gabriel to Marinette who came out as Ladybug when encountering her with Chat Noir who was in shock hearing that his own father is a villain and the liar who had the audacity to work with his father to get Marinette akumatized it changed his side of view. As Ladybug did guess it right that his father was Hawkmoth while he was denial at first. And what Nathalie explain to them turns out the ring that his mother wears was an object to his senti-beings. Nathalie did found out that Adrien, Felix, Kagami, and Chloe are senti-beings but told any Marinette aka. Ladybug anyway. Leaving Marinette in shock but she is willing to help Nathalie.

Nathalie deserves a better job then being with Gabriel after what is happening in the shows in season 5. I really did not like how Gabriel attack Nathalie like that on the part where he got both Black Cat and Ladybug Miraculous and made his wish. :(

Miraculous maybe a heavily flawed show, but it has character. Marinette is pretty distinct, not just a cookie cutter female protagonist. While yes she’s unhealthily obsessed with Adrien, it’s a version of Paris with supervillain, evil teenagers, and an established heroes day. You can’t expect normal behavior from a cartoon.

I don’t get why everyone is complaining about the outfits being the same everyday. Or being outdated. Fashion is completely subjective and fluid, if someone wants to wear hideous clothes, that’s their right.

People only like the pv as a concept. They’d have criticized pv Felix even more than adrien, but since he doesn’t really exist except in their heads, they can make him whatever they please.

As for Chloe, she might be a product of her circumstances, but that only explain her behavior and she still needs to be held accountable. She doesn’t need everyone catering to her whims. She is consistently shown to be cruel and is only nice to get something she wants, whether it be adrien’s forgiveness or being a superhero. She doesn’t even do that well.

People ask for a flawed protagonist and when they get one, all they do is bash her. Marinette consistently makes mistakes, and pays for them heavily. But she tries to do better. She actually apologizes

And of course Adrien. Adrien isn’t at fault for never standing up to his father. Or for Kagami breaking up with him or ‘friend zoning marinette.’ He had every right to be mad in syren. He was useless, so there was no difference in giving up the ring. Ladybug was prioritizing keeping secrets from him over saving Paris. It was not a tantrum, but it was kinda suicidal, which is more worrying. Plus, If you’re risking your life for something, you deserve to know the details of that situation. He was at fault for the way he acted in glaciator and frozen but he worked on that.

So, after my discussions with Lila... Please don't ask... Let's get back to the future shall we? Good on Marinette for standing up to her idol. And especially for doing designs for her grandparents. Still waiting for the world to end but hey, maybe we will avoid that scenario this time around.

So, big heartful speech from Marinette that I'm not going to do the disservice of cutting pieces out of, and we get outfits/pieces for all her friends. One, how incredibly sweet is that? And two, she's making earrings and necklaces. She's doing the jewelry as well people, I feel that should get a lot more attention than it does. And of course Gabriel is one to talk about playing dress up with dolls... Which is a sentence I'll leave there because Adrien deserves better. Do wonder if my hoodie is in there somewhere though.

Well, he said it. Not me. Not a pleasant picture you're painting about the fashion industry Gabriel. Makes me wonder if he even cares about it anymore or if he does it just for the financial resources and keeping up appearances? Never took him for the type to consider being 'out of fashion' as bad as Chloe makes it out to be.

He does it for the control, gotcha. Again there was a whole speech about it but it just makes me want to punch him more and Adrien wouldn't like that. But to imply that Marinette has fallen under the spell Gabriel crafted around Adrien? Like EVERY. OTHER. GIRL. he lets be around his son? Oh that pissed me right off. What do I mean? Chloe. childhood friends but only because her parents are as important as his. Not her fault but still part of Gabriel's world. Lila. The only reason she hangs with Adrien is for power and the only reason Gabriel allows her is to keep his son in line. Kagami. Was literally crafted to be a part of said world! Man I hate this guy. Next scene.

*sighs* second verse, same as the first. I'm going to kill him. What else is there to say at this point except the guy has gone nuts? He's so obsessed about controlling everything, creating this perfect world that nobody but him can achieve, surely he must have been sane at some point right?

Okay, saving the most important thing for last. Suck it Gabriel, you go Marinette and aww how sweet. Now, need I point out that he was still standing at the door? That entire conversation he's been either trying to leave, or waiting for permission to return to Marinette's side. How on earth must that feel for him? To know what you want to do but have something unseen keep you from doing it? (For me it's just called motivation. Ayo!)

Now... Is it just be or do both of them seem slightly scared of Marinette here? Sure it may just be surprise or uncertainty but I'm just going to believe that these two grown men are terrified of a 15 year old girl. Why? Because it's hilarious.

Oh yeah, he's stunned. Also she's dissing the pancakes she didn't even eat, she's that good a baker. You tell him Marinette. I wonder how long it will take before I lose this giant grin on my face?

If there is something that Marinette Dupain-Cheng is, that is accepting and understanding (specially thanks to the wonderful and loving teachings from her parents)

Even then, she found herself surprised when she realized that just about anyone could get her heart racing, all the blushing and giddiness being completely blind to gender and presentation.

However, when Marinette met you officially in a direct message? Her world turned upside down. The connection was so strong, and the conversations so long and pleasant and fun and… for once her mad research skills were put to god use /lh ;being a klutz when it comes to people she likes, at first she did all she could to research on her own, learn all she could online and in books and from her friends- but soon enough she was met with the reality that gender, specially those that don’t fit or stick to a binary, are deeply personal and unique experiences.

So that is when she got herself together and started chatting with you every afternoon after school. She would make casual conversation, albeit quite flustered and rather messily; though coming from her, it was hard to not find it endearing, SPECIALLY if you got to call or even video call.

This last thing ended up happening very often, seeing as she is always neck deep in things to do and it’s easier to speak out loud as she stumbles around her room.

The more she got to know you, she learnt your pronouns, if and when you rather stick to other pronouns if you use more than one, and even was so.. fearless and direct about people misgendering you in any way- and without ever causing drama at that!- that people around her, and even online, either learnt quick how to refer to you properly and respectfully, OR joined the protection squad.

It is with you that Marinette was able to expand her horizons in fashion. Don’t get it wrong, she already was a firm believer that clothes and accessories are for anyone to wear! But being able to understand the importance of size ranges in all departments, and just how deeply unnecessary “male “ and “female” labels are for fashion all first hand from online shopping with you on call and browsing through her inspiration boards together simply ignited a new level to her passion for fashion- sometimes she even is about to slip and say out loud that you are her muse! (that is too personal still, those drawings of you wont see the light any time soon)

Marinette being Marinette, it took all your friends arranging a matching outfits, multiple couples online date so she’d get that you like her back; the poor thing was red as a beet when she realized the implications of “couples are in a date, couples match outfits, [name] is matching with Marinette”

But hey! She got it! (And once that embarrassment is gone, she would shut up EVEN LESS about you with her friends. She adores you!)

Being far away is hard, and many nights Marinette wishes she could just power her way through France and the world to get to you (and in all honesty, Tikki has wiped her tears many nights about it)

But it all feels better for you both when you get to videocall, and even have quiet little dates online! From watching movies, to playing games, and even ordering the same food and lighting candles in your respective rooms.

Now and then, she has to very suddenly leave her room, even during dates… she says it’s deliveries she has to do for the boulangerie, or her parents asking for help and not budging down… but she is so apologetic before it, after it, and always apologize and makes up for it somehow, that you can’t even really be mad at her! Wether she’s lying or not, you trust her, and she always seems to be incredibly upset about having to leave you behind for responsibilities.

If you are ever able to visit, that time is mostly spent at the boulangerie after your dates, where you love helping out while Marinette becomes a mess from how loving and caring her papa gets with you, talking about you already being a Dupain-Cheng pretty much; he never let’s you pay when he sends you home with an obscene amount of pastries at the end of your visits, leaving your transport smelling like fresh bread and sugar the whole trip.

Testing The Waters

Sabrina stared at her bedroom ceiling, going over yesterday again in her head.

Most days, she would already be on her feet, bouncing around her room to make completely sure she had finished all of her and Chloe's homework, found a good outfit, and was ready to spend an hour running errands.

But not today.

It felt really weird to have downtime.

Sabrina's phone had been going off incessantly all night, and was picking up steam to do so it again, but she hadn't picked it up. She wanted to edit her schedule, wanted to check on whether or not she could actually eat lunch with Marinette - Sabrina was still riding the high from having made such a good friend yesterday - but she knew that if she picked it up, she would get pulled back into Chloe's clutches.

It was how she lost last time.

And so she continued to stare at the ceiling, trying to quell her racing thoughts. Had Marinette gotten out okay last night? Would Nino hold a grudge? What was Chloe going to do when they saw each other? Sat by each other? And the traitorous thoughts wondering if Marinette had changed her mind overnight.

Chloe was probably still angry at Sabrina. And she would stay that way. Because Sabrina wasn’t going to grovel for forgiveness this time. She deserved better than to be treated as a servant.

Didn’t she?

She briefly entertained the idea of picking up her phone and blocking Chloe’s contracts on all medias, but that would take between fifteen minutes and half an hour, and there was no guarantee that she wouldn’t read something Chloe sent in the process.

Maybe she could ask her dad too. But then he might look into Chloe for harassment, and while Sabrina was still upset at Chloe and firm in her decision to sever ties, she didn’t want to go that far. Not to mention the Mayor might try to fire Dad if he tried to get Chloe in trouble.

Which nixed that option.

Speaking of Dad…. “Hey Deputy, when are you meeting up with your friend today?”

Oh. And there was that. He had worked late last night, so she hadn’t been able to tell him about the change. Well, there was her activity for the morning!

“Around lunchtime,” Sabrina replied, the joy in her voice only partially forced as she twisted to look at Roger. “Can we have breakfast together?”

“Of course! I’ll start an extra helping.” he ducked back out of her doorway, presumably headed to the kitchen.

Sabrina sat up at last, compartmentalizing her thoughts so that she could enjoy some time with her dad. Their schedules didn’t often overlap like this, she should make the best of it. Especially since her schedule was so much more relaxed than a normal relaxed schedule thismorning.

She walked over to her dresser, near silently, to pick out today’s accessory; she hovered over her usual white headband, before switching it out for a flower she had gotten from Marinette as a birthday present years ago. She’d never managed to give it away, even as she built a rift between herself and the other classmates at Chloe’s side.

She was really, really lucky Marinette had decided to become her friend. That was a lot of distance to bridge. And she would put in the needed work. They both deserved at least that.

Sabrina clipped it into her hair and headed out to enjoy breakfast with her Dad. A rare occurrence that might not be quite so rare anymore. It was a possibility that made her smile.

‘I’m planning on having Sabrina over for lunch too, is that okay with you?’ The message had gone out to three different numbers, all of which replied with some version of yes. Alya had been skeptical but proud of her for trying, Nino said he’d try it, and Adrien thought it was a good idea.

Which were the reactions Marinette had expected, mostly. She hadn’t expected Adrien to be quite this happy about it, but she would take it.

Hopefully the stutter wouldn’t be too bad today She needed to focus on bridging the gap between Sabrina and Nino. And Alya, but Alya hadn’t met nearly as much of the attacks from Chloe and Sabrina as Nino and Marinette had.

Sabrina got to school earlier than usual. She didn’t want to coincide with Chloe’s time of arrival, but Marinette didn’t have a set time to get to school, so Sabrina couldn’t plan for that. She just had to get there early and wait.

Which brought up where she would be waiting.

Logically, she knew that she had picked her seat earlier in the year, and should stick to it. But dread pooled in her stomach at the thought of sitting beside Chloe for hours every day now that they were no longer friends.

The main question was if Mme. Bustier would allow her to move, and if anyone would want her sitting beside them.

With Marinette as her only friend, and Alya sitting by Marinette, it was unlikely she would be greeted warmly. Although Ivan or Nathaniel might let her sit beside them and ignore her, which would be leagues better than having to still sit by Chloe. Plus, Marinette was right in front of them!

Yes, she would try that.

Sabrina skipped up the staircase, turning at the banister, almost colliding with someone.

“Morning Sabrina!”

She blinked at Nino, unsure of his sudden warmth towards her. “Morning?”

“Marinette said you’re joining us for lunch, any requests?”

“Not really.” Sabrina shook her head, still unsure. This was new. And it happened fast.

“Alright, see you then!” Nino waved and continued on his way, as though that was completely ordinary. It was.. nice, to not be treated like a demon or a bomb.

Were- were people really going to be that forgiving already? Sabrina tightened her grip on her bag in excitement.

Mme. Bustier was already seated at her desk when Sabrina entered the Classroom, so she got straight to arguing her case. She didn’t have Chloe to make the teacher bend to their will anymore, so she had to actually use her intellect. “Mme. Bustier, I’d like to switch seats. I know that it’s not time for the midsemester switch, and that you rarely do the midsemester switch anyways, but I would feel much better if I was sitting in the middle right row instead of up front where I was.”

Mme. Butsier looked towards the seats in question, where only Ivan was at the moment. “I don’t see a problem with you moving, but we will have to check with Ivan first, alright?”

“Alright!” Sabrina nodded, surprised at how easily Mme. Bustier had caved. She didn’t have to use most of her arguments! Which was good, all things considered. It would be obvious soon, but she needed a little while to mentally prepare before plainly announcing to everyone else that she was done being friends with Chloe.

They made their way up to Ivan’s desk, where Mme. Bustier asked his opinion on the switch. Ivan grunted noncommittally, but nodded. Sabrina sighed quietly. Two hurdles passed. “Thank you!” She slid onto the bench, pulling her bag up in front of her too.

Ivan grunted again, and this time Sabrina could almost make out words at the low volume.

Mme. Bustier had reached her desk again when Nino returned, headphones pulled up and an argument in the form of Kim and Alix following him. Sabrina scanned the classroom to pass time, seeing who else was there. Rose, Juleka, and Max, were already in their seats, and Mylene was at the edge of Rose and Juleka’s desk, happily chattering about a music show.

Sabrina hoped Marinette could get here soon. She wanted to talk like that, although she didn’t know what Marinette might want to talk about. Maybe fashion? Or flowers! Marinette liked those, right? And Sabrina knew plenty about flowers, Chloe had liked them too.

She crossed her arms, leaning her chin on them as she watched and waited for her best friend to come through the door. It would probably be a little while, Marinette lived really close, but almost always got to school second to last. Probably taking advantage of her proximity to the school to spend more time at home.

Sabrina should do that too. Time her trek to school so that she arrived just a little bit before Marinette did, and they could go in together like Sabrina and Chloe used to!

A hand slammed onto her desk, shaking her out of her thoughts. Sabrina focused on it, recognizing it as Chloe’s. She must have really zoned out, if she missed Chloe walking in.

“There you are! Did Dupain-Cheng steal your phone yesterday or something? I’ve been calling you for ages! That horrid Akuma attacked me again, and Ladybug and Chat Noir just destroyed my room! The only good thing that came of it was me featuring on Cesaire’s blog. I’m going to need so much retail therapy for this, and you have to come with me.”

Sabrina took a deep breath, and then looked straight at Chloe. This would be so much easier with Marinette to back her up, but she still had a backbone of her own and she would use it. “Take Jean-Claude with you. We’re not friends anymore, remember?”

Chloe scoffed. “Come on, you’re still on that? Dupain-Cheng was just upset about the work portioning. She’s so quarrelsome!”

“Marinette is super nice! She’s been a much better friend in the eighteen hours since she became my friend than you were all year.” Sabrina didn't mention the Akuma, but only barely. Her job wasn't to spy and reveal secrets anymore.

“You’re just being ridiculous, Sabrina!”

Sabrina opened her mouth to retort, tell her that No, she wasn’t being ridiculous, and Yes, she was actually done being Chloe’s friend now, but Ivan replied before she could.

“Chloe, she said no. Go sit down.”

Chloe huffed, “Fine. Sabrina, we’ll talk at lunch.” she spun around and stomped back down to their normal seats. Their old seats. Chloe’s seat, now.

Sabrina watched Chloe go, and once she was seated turned to Ivan. “Thank you.”

He nodded. “You’re welcome.”

Sabrina smiled, turning back to her bag, and then looking at the door again too. Perfect timing, just as Marinette and Adrien walked in and took their seats. Alya must have slipped in while Sabrina was zoning out too, as she was there to greet Marinette with a fist-bump.

“Hey Sabrina!” Marinette whispered, turning and smiling at her.

“Hi Marinette!” Sabrina waved back, her smile widening. “Everything went well last night?”

Marinette leaned to the side, tilting her head as she did so. “There was a minor hiccup,-” she shrugged, moving back to a normal sitting position. She was so expressive! “-but it all worked out, and Nath came out okay. He might be taking the day off school though.”

“Who wouldn’t?” Alya asked, twisting to join the conversation. “Even if I wasn’t suspended at the time of mine, I would have taken a day off.”

“Yeah.” Sabrina agreed. “It makes sense for Akumatization to be mentally and emotionally taxing, I don’t think anyone will fault him for it.” Except maybe Chloe. And yesterday, Sabrina herself. Like they had with Ivan. Oohhh. She might want to apologize for that.

But what if it was too late? Or her bringing it up just made him mad? They only sat by each other, maybe she should just leave it.

She definitely would apologize to Nathaniel. And maybe Marinette. Her being rude along with Chloe caused it, and that then put her friend in danger.

“They better not,” Alya rolled her eyes.

“If anyone is going to be faulted it will be Hawkmoth. He's the only one who's actually at fault.” Marinette’s eyes hardened as she said it. Sabrina couldn’t blame her. Ever since Hawkmoth had made himself known, Ladybug had been working with the police to make sure Akuma victims were always protected from backlash and victim blaming. It didn't always work.

“Yeah.”

The bell rung then, effectively ending the conversation. Alya and Marinette turned back to the front, and Mylene scurried down to her seat.

“Alright class, settle down!” Mme. Bustier clapped, standing up and walking around to the front of her desk.

Sabrina flipped her bag open and pulled out her tablet, powering it on to see a screen full of notifications. She glanced over at the back of Chloe’s head, then to Marinette’s, right in front of her. Smiling sadly to herself, she tapped ‘Clear all’ and opened her notebook app and study guide. She would be okay. She had Marinette, and Chloe wouldn’t pull her back.

[Rant] Ladybug's Suit

WARNING: This post contains profanity and a brutally honest opinion.

As a fan of magical girl series, I'm disappointed in Ladybug's bodysuit. Why?! The bodysuit is an awful outfit! For a couple of reasons. One, it's [bleep] hideous! I hate it so much! I want to rip it off her! Like, why does she have to wear THAT atrocious onesie?! It's all red with black spots all over. It's an eyesore! A [bleep] eyesore! For real, it's an eyesore because there is very little black to break up the red. Have the character designers and animato

When Marinette transforms into Ladybug, she wears the worst ever bodysuit among the teen-aged heroes, it made me change my mind on two particular outfits. My opinion on what Yumi and Aelita had in season 4 of Code Lyoko shifted from a negative one to a more positive one. I no longer look at their virtual spandex as bad outfits, as it made sense for them to have tighter fitting attire. Though, I also like their initial virtual attire too. Their bodysuits from season 4 of Code Lyoko had more effort put into them! At least those bodysuits look good! Not gonna lie, Yumi actually looks hot and sexy in her spandex. Meanwhile, Ladybug does not!

This!

This is what I'm talking about! Ladybug's bodysuit in the image above is so bland! It makes for a childish superhero outfit and an even WORSE magical girl outfit!! Considering Sailor Moon was one of the many magical girl series that influenced Miraculous, you'd think Ladybug would wear a practical suit to fight evilized villains with. By practical, I mean a super suit with padding and armor. But, alas, she does not! Heck, girl doesn't wear boots either. Yes, Ladybug doesn't wear a [bleeping] pair of boots. Sailor Moon at least had protective padding in both her base and Super forms plus boots.

For this reason, I drew redesigns of her outfit so she wouldn't wear a literal onesie! And isn't it Marinette's dream job is to be a fashion designer?! So surely, she'd have her sketchbook filled out with alternate outfits for her heroic alter ego.

Furthermore, Miraculous also does a terrible job with how Marinette has her keep the same hairstyle after transforming into Ladybug. Her hair is just a brighter and deeper shade of blue. It feels like Sailor Moon all over again.

The grade I'd her bodysuit is a D-. As a superhero outfit, it gets a C-. As a magical girl outfit, it gets a big, fat, F---!

SHE DESERVES A MUCH BETTER COSTUME!!!

People are allowed to dislike Alya if they want, stop trying to control people’s opinions and get over it man.

It's not so much just "people disliking Alya". People are allowed to just not really like a fictional character.

It's more the absolutely rampant belief and depictions of Alya as being stupid and cruel, with her being made into Lila's minion who will start hitting, pinching, insulting, or destroying Marinette's things on Lila's slightest say-so, which is demonstrably not something she'd do - even when the evidence was stacked against her in "Ladybug", Alya believed that Marinette wouldn't do what she was accused of, and investigated to try and clear her. She was unsuccessful, but she did try.

And then you've got stuff like the Chloe-Alya personality switch, where Chloe's relationship with Sabrina, with Sabrina waiting on Chloe, helping to put together anything she asks for, doing everything for her, etc, is transposed onto Alya's relationship with Marinette, with Alya being made out to take advantage of Marinette, to push and bully her into babysit for her all the time without pay or her parent's permission (which there's little evidence for, and the only character who has demonstrably gotten someone else to babysit for them without parental permission is Marinette anyway, in Prime Queen and probably Simple Man), or even more ludicrous stuff like Alya coercing Marinette into make endless outfits or general stuff for her without pay, which is, again, baseless. And then making Chloe into Marinette's new best friend (ignoring how she treated her canonical best friend, since that relationship has been transposed onto Alya instead), so that together they can hurt Alya in retaliation.

Those cases are especially telling, because it shows that the actual personalities or actions of the characters don't matter for the depictions here. If they did, then Chloe wouldn't be Marinette's stalwart defender and one of her only friends, who treats her with respect.

Instead, it seems like the person writing or arguing for those just doesn't want someone who looks like Alya to be Marinette's friend, and wants someone who looks like Chloe to be Marinette's friend instead - and will perform any number of personality surgeries on the two of them to make that happen.

(Side note: I'm fine with people liking Chloe, fics that make Chloe friends with Marinette, etc. I read quite a few of those. Just don't try to tell me that she's a better person than Alya. She's not.)

I've seen how people can treat characters they just don't particularly like. My corner of the fandom is very Lovesquare-heavy, and isn't particularly enthused about Luka. But even so, I only see some commentary criticising his actions in the week or so after an episode with him airs, and the rest of the time people just joke about him occasionally. Stuff like making him out to be an abusive boyfriend, with stories where like, Marinette gets to hurt Luka back and Adrien comes to her rescue? Those are rare, and generally don't get much traction on the extremely few occasions when they do appear. Mostly people who don't like him just leave him out of their stories and conversations.

It's like some of the stuff I've heard about Reylo in the Star Wars fandom: if Reylo shippers just don't like Finn all that much, that's fine! But making him out to try and sexually assault Rey so that Kylo Ren can beat him up, arguing that that's what should happen, or that it's deserved? Yeah, that ain't okay.

no because i've been thinking a lot about how i would rewrite mlb even though i'm NOT a writer lol so here's a list of things i can think of right now:

chloe redemption!! they did her so dirty she deserves so much better and there's so much wasted potential :( i would go more in detail about her family issues and how they affect her. with zoe i think it would make sense for chloe to see her as a sort of rival, as in wanting to be the favourite child and being scared that with zoe being there, her mom will spend even less time with her

we all know that marinette's crush on adrien is very obsessive and that the show portrays her creepy behaviour as normal. so. none of that. i think in the beginning she would put him on a pedestal and act accordingly but she would soon realize that he's. just a dude. and acknowledge that her way of thinking was wrong. this would also lead to her being a bit less nervous and stutter-y around him lol and to them actually being able to build a closer friendship

a similar thing with adrien and ladybug! to me it feels like in the show chat noir is a lot more of a sidekick so maybe in the beginning he also had a pretty glorified view of ladybug which caused him to rely a bit too much on her? if that makes sense?? so when he eventually starts to realize that under the mask she's also just a person he would take a much more active role you know?

alternatively i think it could also tie into underlying self-esteem issues, like "ladybug is so great and amazing, there's no way i could do more than just follow her lead, i'd just get in the way"

less irresponsible adults

they are 14. they need help. su han actually had a point when he said that they were just kids. so he would definitely take on more of a mentor role. maybe him and marinette would compromise that, for now, she would renounce her role as guardian and let him take over. in exchange, he would start training her so she's ready to take on the role when she is an adult and can handle it better.

su han would also train marinette and adrien when it comes to fighting and understanding their powers because it's just so unrealistic that they learned how to fight perfectly on the fly lmaoo so i think while they have come a long way on their own, they still need a lot more guidance

obviously he would know both their identities and you know. be an actually responsible adult. so he would deffo be a support system for them (especially for adrien because jesus that boy has no trusted adult figure in his life </3 he would probably pose as an ordinary tutor or something to by-pass gabriel)

su han would also do a lot more of the background hero work. so researching the miraculous', looking into potential temporary holders that AREN'T all children and from the same social circle as marinette, and especially going after clues to find out who shadowmoth is

moving on

i really hated how lukanette ended up being portrayed on the show

so personally, i find it much better for them to be friends until eventually marinette gets over adrien. she realizes that if she doesn't confess to him, nothing would change. lukanette wouldn't happen until marinette is over her feelings for adrien

design changes. so many of them. i especially hate rose's outfit i'm sorry it's hideous lol i might actually draw some redesigns and post them on my art blog :)

Is the younger sister, her older sister by two years is Brigette

Her father works at a bakery/pastry shop that he owns, his father (grandfather) works with him, even if he wishes he would rest. Her mother is a Lawyer.

Mari feels as though she’s been cursed or is just simply unlucky. Often getting herself in embarrassing situations or scenarios. Or breaking things, tripping over nothing, and if it's raining her umbrella will mysteriously not open and she will always get splashed on by passing cars.

Her favorite animal is a hamster because they're so cute and tiny, but another is a ladybug. This is all because when she was six Mari tripped and fell down the stairs of course getting injured Brigette trying to make her sister feel better gave her a ladybug charm bracelet of hers and told her that ladybugs are said to bring good luck and good fortune. Plus in Chinese culture red is said to be a lucky color. After that Mari was obsessed with ladybugs not so much for the color red but pink which is technically a shade of red so it counts ( not really).

She still wears the charmed bracelet to this day. And now it’s possessed by a magical Ladybug creature that turns her into the hero ladybug.

She has a childhood best friend her name is Alya

Mari has a dream of being a renowned fashion designer with her own brand, but for now she makes her own outfits that she doesn't really wear. Except for a jean jacket she customized and a pink pair of shorts. (only because she promised Alya). She’s trying to learn to be more confident. Baby steps are key.

She’s not really allowed in the kitchen of the bakery due to her being “accident prone” so instead she runs deliveries for her dad. Something akin to “Kiki’s Delivery Service” that’s just the vibe I get probably due to how Mari's dad is built so dramatically which reminds me of the husband from that movie. It also might be because they both bake. She travels on a moped to do her deliveries.

When she turned 12 her parents made a promise that the girls could have their own rooms. Both girls wanted the “best room” , the attic space which was a huge space with a balcony. It was the ultimate room, but since they both wanted it they basically had a mini war over it, going to the great length of even creating a PowerPoint presentation over why either of them deserve the room. Their parents, tired of their constant bickering, decided to pick Mari in the end due to her needing space for her fashion projects. Either way they both finally get their own rooms and the parents are happy that things are going back to normal, except for in the morning when they can hear Mari screaming at Brigette for hogging the shower.

Tikki is with Mari at all times until she transforms. Tikki hides as a stuffed doll if Mari’s family or friends find her. Tikki doesn’t really talk. She is the size of a kitten.

Marinette always tries to see the bright side of things and always carries a go getter attitude. Even if she thinks she's riddled with bad luck she tries to stay optimistic about things. Even if she trips for the hundredth time she will always get back up, clean herself off and have a smile on her face as if to say nothing wrong. But that’s not all true, she wishes that for once in her life she could do anything without embarrassing herself, hurting herself or others, and to not be known as the clumsy or accident prone girl that she is. She wishes for once she could have good luck, like the ladybug she so admired for that sole purpose. Good luck. To be confident and unashamed to be herself like Alya, never second guessing herself and being firm in what she wants and believes in like her sister. To not be bogged down by one's emotions and to truly be herself without the fear that she’s going to ruin things or break something. She wants to feel proud of her works instead of doubting her own capabilities. Something like her father. She just wished that luck was on her side and she could become her best self.

All of her desires seem to come true one day when a fairy-like creature emerges from her bracelet. And seemingly granting her wish by turning her into a ladybug bug themed hero. Who can seamlessly conjure up good luck but also turn her into a dreamed version of herself. Something she thought was a simple fantasy is now reality. She can walk and not trip on her feet, she doesn’t stammer in her speech, she feels like she’s on top of the world and more confident than ever. She feels like a whole new person and someone she doesn't ever want to separate from. Even if she can only be that way for a couple of minutes. She wants to stay or at least keep ladybug for as long as possible, but how long could that last for before things get complicated and before people get hurt due to the action of her selfish desire?

Mari also has a small crush on her sister's friend Luka, but he tends to treat her as he treats his little sister.

Her favorite pastry that her father makes for her when she leaves for school is a Chocolate Croissant/ Pain au Chocolat.

Concept art for what I’m calling the Double Bug AU! In essence, in this AU Marinette has a twin sister named Brigitte and the pair trade off Ladybug duties based on availability. Misc notes under cut

I’m working on how to distinct Marinette and Brigitte in terms of design and personality. For the moment, Marinette gets to keep her canon blue-black hair and bright blue eyes, while Brigitte’s hair is a brown-black of otherwise about the same hue and her eyes are a darker blue. Might wind up giving them both brown eyes though since they deserve it 😊

Since the extended universe of ML makes it clear that superheroes are a known quantity in canon, I figured that some of the kids would have the silhouettes of their superhero outfits in mind, although likely with different color schemes/powers in mind lol. Most notably, Marinette and Brigitte designed each other’s outfits, since they figured that if one of them became a superhero, having the other’s design sense would help obfuscate that to their associates.

Despite this, Brigitte is not generally a fashion designer. She’s still an artist, but she doesn’t set out to draw outfits like Marinette does. She also focuses more on comfort than how she looks at school most days, although she’ll dress up when she feels like it.

When not wearing the Ladybug Miraculous, Marinette or Brigitte will usually wear another pair of earrings that looks pretty similar to the Miraculous’ disguise form on them, to keep people from noticing anything fishy about their jewelry choices.

I like this outfit as a concept for the Cat Miraculous, but I don’t know if I want to keep it for this AU (or for Adrien in general, as it seems a bit more prim than his general fair). I’ll keep thinking on it.

Adrien is not a love interest for either Cheng in this AU, so his story arc (should I write it instead of just vibing about it) would be learning to see things a slightly more realistic light-- he has a tendency to view the world through anime tinted glasses and at the start it causes him to simply expect that one of the girls will eventually fall in love with him as they work together. This mindset isn’t healthy for anyone involved but he gets better

Felix Sphinx (PV!Felix) exists in this AU and is Marinette’s endgame romance because I say so. It’s my AU and I do what I want and what I want is for Felix to be a guy from one of the other classes who Marinette likes and thinks is cool. He’s a little snippy and incredibly blunt and at several points he wields the Bee Miraculous when applicable.

(Alya and Nino still exist and wield their canon Miraculouses but I didn’t feel the need to overhaul them in any way here)

Sabrina and Nathaniel are Brigitte’s endgame romances. She has two hands and a type lmao. Nathaniel’s already her friend at the start of the year (art buddies) but Sabrina probably has an arc about having an identity outside of Chloe first.

Sabrina getting the Mouse for the first time would probably be the midpoint of her arc-- she’s independant enough that she won’t go running to Chloe to spill the beans/hand over the Miraculous, but she doesn’t have the internal feeling of power to stand on her own without her. Spending some time as a hero on the occasion... doesn’t fix that on it’s own, but it helps.

Mouse keeps its canon powers but Tiger gets invisibility instead of wimpy cataclysm.

I don’t know what anyone’s hero names are yet. I’ll work on it.
