#Marinette finally comes clean

Note
On a serious note, why do you not like Derision? I mean, I can guess why, but I’m genuinely curious to hear your thoughts (if you want to).
What have they done to my boy?!
I guess we'll start with the whole "trauma" thing since that's how the episode starts - with Marinette going on a date with Adrien at the pool but constantly getting heart palpitations at the very idea of it. And not good lovey-dovey crush ones like Sabine thinks. The Actual Panic Attack kind.
This just feels unnecessary AND too late. Unnecessary because there are plenty of pre-established reasons why Marinette could be hesitant to go all in with Adrien (Being Ladybug, the 354th other times going for Adrien has failed or left her humiliated, Being Ladybug). So I don't know why they invented a trauma for her in the final hour and didn't think it was worth talking about before now?
They really came up with this whole scheme to explain why Marinette does Marinette things, like learning Adrien's schedule, planning out everything before she tries to make a move, needing to know everything about him, as if the show hasn't been mocking her for these exact traits and allowing them to blow up in her face over and over again. But NOW it's due to her TRAUMA. So...retroactively when her friends laughed at her or slapped their foreheads in frustration or the show framed her failures as a joke...we know it's actually from a tragic place and can't laugh anymore.
I mean, I was never laughing, but you get what I mean. They framed it like it was part of the comedy and now they're pulling the rug out from under themselves. How are you supposed to laugh when Adrien brings Marinette constipation medicine, or when her pictures of him are blasted all over Paris Television, or the *ugh* Statue Scene plays out and now you know that this is just adding to her pre-existing trauma? They have shot the show's rewatch value.
I never thought Marinette needed a "reason" act the way she was because those were always just kinda The Things Teenage Girls Do when they have a crush. I've admitted in the past to learning my crush's class schedule just to orchestrate running into each other in the hallways more often, and if their crush had public interviews and magazine pictures, I'm pretty sure most kids would also cut out their pictures to keep and would read and remember the interviews. I never really saw her behavior as that weird for a girl her age with a crush and recognize some cartoon exaggeration.
...Stealing his phone was a little weird, though, I'll give them that though Alya is the one who suggested it first...
SO, we enter a long flashback to One Year Ago (with Marinette now on her third Almost-Akumatization, good lord) and learn what life was like for Marinette pre-Origins, and oh boy. It's hell. She's making up illnesses to avoid school, avoiding all contact with anyone in the courtyard, having cockroaches put in her locker, having the Principal catch her "late" for class (after she had to clean herself up from a water prank), gets yelled at by the teacher for being late, sits in paint, mocked in class and then yelled at again by the teacher for pointing out the person mocking her probably planted it, and gets Saturday detention. All in one day. And when anyone tries to talk to her or even glares at the person responsible, they get threatened too.
The main reason this is hell is because Marinette is being let down by every single adult in her life. Sabine just laughs and tells Marinette that she only has a few weeks left with Chloe and it's not like she'll be in the same class as her next year.🙃 Well, why don't you make SURE she doesn't?! Maybe this is just an American vs French school thing, but where I come from, it's totally within your rights to request that your child not be put in the same class as someone else, they could at least put in a throw away line about her parents TRYING to move her, but Chloe's not allowing it JUST to keep Marinette close to her. And maybe take this a little more seriously, Sabine- your daughter is faking illness to avoid One. Girl. That should be concerning, not "lol my daughter is so silly for trying to get out of class."
Damocles finds Marinette and yells at her for being "constantly late" and praising the "anonymous notes" (signed by Chloe -_-) for always alerting him when she's behind, and then later gives her Saturday detention for...someone clearly planting paint on her desk chair? He sees a victim of bullying and punishes her for it. At the end of the episode he even suspends Socqueline for something that happened outside of school, yet in "Jubilation" she's pumping him up as The Best Principal?! Does this show thinks we're stupid or something?!
Mendeleiev also yells at Marinette for being late. She allows Chloe to make fun of Marinette for looking depressed when she comes in and allows Chloe to mock Marinette for sitting in paint, but when Marinette doesn't even stand up for herself but just accuses Chloe of putting the paint there, THEN Mendeleiev has something to say, and it's to Marinette? For "groundlessly" accusing the only person in the room laughing at Marinette, the one who was just making fun of her, the one who kept her eyes on Marinette so she could watch her sit in the paint?
Marinette tells Socqueline that all the adults are scared of Chloe, but that's not what I saw. Sure, at the end of the episode Damocles is afraid when Chloe pulls a "Lady Wifi" to force him to punish Socqueline for smashing Sabrina's phone, but the sequence of events played out more like the adults participating in the bullying. It wasn't like Damocles was sympathetic to Marinette and then Chloe cleared her throat, so he straightened up nervously and started berating Marinette. It wasn't like Marinette accused Chloe and then Chloe glared at Mendeleiev, forcing her to finally intervene. All the adults see what's going on and are either completely oblivious or don't care.
Also, Chloe totally unprompted says this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GET A LIFE, what is your PROBLEM?! Like, why have a flashback episode and not have it explain what Chloe's fixation on Marinette even is?! It doesn't have to be big or anything! Like, have Marinette trip and spill something on Chloe in art class! Just do something!
And like, I totally get that irl bullies just choose their targets for no real reason and this is just another example of that, but to this level?! Just...get a hobby!
And then there's the big thing they did in this stupid episode. The unforgivable. The reprehensible.
Tumblr media
This fucking guy.
It's been so long since we've seen Bully Kim that I was pretty sure he was left behind entirely on the draft floor. Sure, Kim is still capable of being insensitive or not thinking long-term, but he was a good kid. He roots for his friends and wants everyone to have a good time.
Hell, I could even buy that Kim was dumb enough to believe Chloe when she claims what he did was a funny practical joke that they'd all laugh about later...until Socqueline came up and yelled at him that he should be ashamed of himself.
And Ondine yelled at him in the present that he should be ashamed of himself.
And it's a year later and he should have realized by now that he should be ashamed of himself.
Kim is dumb, that's just a fact, but the way he doubles down and is so sure of himself that NO it's everyone ELSE who has a problem because they can't take a JOKE? Like...why?! Why did they co-sign on this character assassination?!
Just make him become akumatized because he's A S H A M E D of what he did now that he's finally sitting down and thinking about it a year later! He can keep the same look and motif, just have Monarch stroke the part of him that doesn't want him to be the jerk, the old Kim! It's totally normal, especially for a kid, to want to believe that they're not the bad guy even with all the evidence pointing to it, so I could even see the akuma being exactly the same.
But naur, it's KIM who talks like a right-wing podcast douche bag, complaining that you can't just speak your mind these days and everyone needs to get a sense of humor, they just don't GET it man, this is just how he IS brah, take it or leave it! His akuma's even named "Dark Humor", like edgy losers on reddit who make racist/sexist jokes and then get mad when he's downvoted and boo'd out of a forum. God, we just CAN'T TAKE A JOKE I guess.
I'm glad this is resolved by Ladybug gluing a toilet to his head.
Tumblr media
I just...I feel like this could've worked in Season 1, or Season 2. Like...put it before Dark Cupid or before Syren or something. That way, Kim being a total douche is the starting point of his character arc, not the Season 5 Post-Hero Run point, ugh.
It'd also make this stupid line make more sense:
Tumblr media
I'm sorry, the girl who got you akumatized after she humiliated you in nearly the same way you humiliated Marinette? I guess that was "just a prank bro" too, right?
Establish Marinette's problems with romance early, so she can overcome them or at least give them the proper context. It'd at least make the show look better if they hadn't made fun of her for 4 Seasons only to drop this bombshell on us at the end. You know...the thing that they just did.
This episode just isn't fun. I hated "Illusion" because all you get to see is the bad guys winning and outsmarting the heroes, but "Derision" is a marathon of seeing the absolute misery Marinette was put through, just to jump forward to the present to destroy a character that I really liked.
Would a kid even like this episode?

part time soulmate, full time problem
a soulmates-adjacent au where a morally questionable technology does the matching but happens to be right anyway, written for the 2023 @mlbigbang, rated T
thanks to @miabrown007, @chocoluckchipz, and @wackus-bonkus-maximus for betaing and @thewanderersminuet for the beautiful art! check out chapter 1's art here.
summary:
On paper, Marinette Dupain-Cheng has been terminally single her entire life. If anyone asked her, she’d say she was happy that way. After all, she can’t tell them the real reason she’s never signed up for Alliance in hopes of finding her soulmate—she’s already found him. Her and Chat Noir didn’t need an algorithm to know they were meant for each other. Until one day, Chat Noir changed his mind, and decided he’d prefer the algorithm after all. After several weeks worth of moping and cursing Alliance’s name, Marinette remembers the age-old mantra: if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. So she finally gives in and signs up for the app in the hopes of moving on—a task made much easier when her match happens to be the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen.
chapter 1: she walked in the place
“Mademoiselle Dupain-Cheng.” A stern-looking, dark-haired woman holding a Gabriel branded tablet interrupted her train of thought. She had dark circles under her eyes and what looked like braces on her legs—though, like everything else in the building, they were far more sleek and modern than any brace Marinette had seen before. She hadn’t noticed the doors opening; but the woman must have come from the building. “I hope you weren’t thinking of leaving.” “Oh, um… no?”  The woman raised a brow. “I mean, no!” A nervous giggle escaped Marinette’s lips. “I was just… quagmiring the gilding!” Her voice was too loud. The woman just stared. “Er, that is, admiring the building—it’s so, um… Clean?” Marinette offered, waving her hands at the (truly) spotless entrance from which she had been carefully backing away. “I’ll pass on your compliments to our janitorial staff.”

Unexpected Angel (Finale)
Previous
On Monday, Carrie smiled and made her way to Marinette's desk, but she wasn't there. She looked around, but no one else seemed to be concerned. Carrie saw one of the girls that Marinette usually spoke to her and made her way over.
"Felicia, where's Marinette? I haven't seen her yet." Carrie whispered, "Was she fired or something?"
Felicia giggled, "Marinette? Didn't you know; she's the lead designer for the Wayne collection. She was moved to a secure room to start working."
'What? That litle high schooler was a designer? How did she get to work on the new collection?'
"Isn't she a little too young?" Carrie questioned.
Felicia looked at the secretary confused.
"No. I'm pretty sure Bruce and Tim had to pay a pretty penny to get her to come here from Gabriel and Paris." Felicia stated, "She's had her own clientele since she was thirteen; all big names, too. I heard Tim was such a fan of her work and that's why he wanted her to work here. I mean, he would have access to her and could ask her to make a set of his own clothes, too."
Carrie smiled and quickly walked away. She couldn't believe that her new go to had been taken away. She knew no one there would listen to her. She would have to do all her work on her own. She hated it.
Carrie smiled as she was called up to the top Wayne offices.
'This could be it! A promotion!'
Carrie smiled as she was brought in front of Bruce, Timothy and Damian Wayne.
"Carolyn Briggs, you are fired." Damian declared.
'What?'
"E-Excuse me?" she stuttered out, "Is there layoffs? Have I done something wrong?"
Tim smiled and asked her to look at the monitors. Curiously, Carrie turned to the screen on the wall. She watched in horror as she watched herself force Marinette do her work for the last month. They even had the audio of her calling their designer: useless, waste of space, irresponsible, and doubting how she was hired. The next thing she knew, she was slapping Marinette in the face.
"Security saw it happening on their monitors and brought it to our attention a few weeks ago." Bruce spoke up.
"We thought Marinete would come forward, on her own." Damian declared.
"When you assaulted her, we had to take action." Tim explained, "Marinette Dupain-Cheng is a huge asset to this company."
"This obviously isn't the first time you have pulled this sort of stunt." Bruce continued.
Again, Carolyn watched in horror as her 'relaxation period' came up. They had video eveidence of her sitting around and doing nothing. She sat at her desk filing and painting her nails. They showed her proof of her going back to her old department and flirting with her old supervisors. She shrunk in on herself as her screen came into view and they saw her purchasing things online, on company time. It was even more humiliating to watch her run to the printer and try to copy the papers that needed to be done. Finally, the Waynes showed her crying in an empty room. Carolyn had mascara running down her face, as she blamed Marinette for getting yelled at.
"It shouldn't take five years for someone to figure out how to work a printer." Tim stated, "Most people get the hang of it after one month. We have every right to take you to court and sue you. You would have to pay us back all the money you earned over the last five years."
'There's no way I can pay all of that back.'
"Or" Damian spoke up, "you can take being fired and leave without a word."
Carolyn stood up from her seat and walked out of the office. She grabbed a box from the fashion department, where her boss said nothing. Likely, the Waynes had told him already. Carrie cleaned out her desk, quietly. No one stopped her to ask her what was going on. They were too busy running around, pulling fabrics, or sewing.
Carrie took a step off the elevator. There was Marinette talking to one of the tailors. Before she could utter a word, she spotted Damian Wayne walking over to Marinette. The tailor quickly left, as Damian handed Marinette a coffee cup.
"Oh, thank you for the coffee. I really needed it." she smiled, " I didn't know you worked here. Thank you for the advise. I got all my work done and I didn't stress out. Even my boss said I was doing better. I don't have to force myself to eat anymore."
"And your sleep?" he asked.
"I've been sleeping later, but feeling more refreshed. I'm also getting so much done." Mari answered, "So, will I get to know you name this time?"
"Another time." he stated.
Marinette smiled, "Maybe another cup of coffe? It would be nice to have a friend in Gotham."
"Perhaps." the young Wayne replied.
Satisfied with his answer, Mari walked towards the elevators on the other side of the room. Damian turned towards Carolyn and glared at her. She quickly rushed out the doors of Wayne Enterprise.
'They were protecting her. If those rumors really were true, I would have been found out eventually.'

True Ending
While Chat Noir protects Paris from the akuma, Ladybug convinces Gabriel to do the right thing. After the powers of the ladybug miraculous cures Gabriel from the effects of the cataclysm and fixes the other miraculous, Su-Han puts a spell on Gabriel that bars him from ever using a miraculous ever again. If he does, the spell will stop his heart and he'll die. Gabriel accepts his punishment and focuses on rebulding his family and fixing the bonds he ruined. Meanwhile, Lila, now in possession of the butterfly miraculous, is out to take revenge on Ladybug, Gabriel and Marinette. Gabriel offers Marinette an official apprentiship, which angers Lila even more and pushes her to seek out Tomoe Tsurugi. Lila offers her a chance to make Gabriel pay for breaking the engagement between Adrien and Kagami. Tomoe accepts. It's revealed Tomoe had hoped to kill Gabriel and replace him with a senti under her control, but her plan derailed when Gabriel gave the peacock to Félix. Fortunately for her, Gabriel was hit with the cataclysm and she had then hoped he'd die from that. Once again, Gabriel (with Ladybug's help) managed to ruin her plans. This alliance will give Lila the means to fund her plans and will grant her access to new powerful technology she can utilize to her advantage. As season 6 progresses, Ladybug finds herself confiding in Gabriel and Nathalie about her struggles as a hero (as Alya has her own issues to deal with and Su-Han is busy with temple business). The two adults encourage Marinette to be honest with Adrien and reveal her identity to him, but before she can, Crysalis appears and starts terrorizing Paris. Faced once again with a threat to the city, Marinette postpones her talk with Adrien, but everything goes awry when the boy discovers his father was Hawkmoth. Feeling betrayed he runs to Marinette, who has to come clean about knowing about it. Adrien asks her how, and she reveals the truth. She's Ladybug. Heartbroken, Adrien runs away. Marinette calls Gabriel and Nathalie, and together they search for Adrien. Gabriel finds him and notices an akuma flying towards him. He jumps between and gets hit by the akuma to protect Adrien. As he fights Crysalis's influence and, as he's about to transform, he tells Adrien to run, that he loves him and that he's sorry. The finale for s6 is Ladybug and Chat Noir fighting and rescuing Gabriel. Back at the mansion, the former villains and two heroes have a talk and, while Adrien can't completely forgive them for lying to him, he understands their motivations. He tells them he'll need time to process everything. Gabriel, Nathalie and Marinette understand and tell him they'll be patient. From that moment on, Gabriel and Nathalie become the confidants for the two teens, and subsequently join and become patrons of the temple in the fight against Crysalis.

Adrien asks Marinette if she ever thought about what she’d name her kids, and, after a lot of prodding, she finally comes clean about Emma, Hugo, and Louis. Adrien is momentarily flabbergasted, stammering, “Wait, that’s what we… named… our… kids,” trailing off as he starts to realize who, exactly, he shared his Jubilation fantasy with

So I have been seeing interesting discussion on the endings of Gabriel. The miraculous movie vs The season 5 finale ending.
-And the criticisms for the movie ending are valid, Marinette/Ladybug’s conflict is a lot less personal (cause time constraints)
-Gabriel technically defeated himself
-There wasn’t enough build up for the climax to feel satisfying unless you knew the show.
-Marinette’s personal involvement felt minimal to nonexistent. (She never met Gabriel)
-The powers are inconsistent
The wrap up was too quick
And these are legitimate criticism, especially because we never have Marinette interact with Gabriel once. Something that should have happened.
I can understand how that ending could feel unsatisfying.
Then we have the season 5 finale, which has the opposite problem
-It involves Marinette so much that Adrien is completely sidelined as a response.
-Gabriel ‘Wins’ but according to the writers he lost. (I saw the commentary. I vehemently disagree with there interpretation)
-Adrien never finds out about any of this
-Lila feels shoehorned in as the season 6 badguy
So I thought about both sides more, rewatched the S5 finale and the ending with these new perspectives and… I still prefer the movie ending more than the finale.
But why is that? Objectively speaking The movie is much more flawed and has very littler personal investment of Ladybug vs Hawkmoth. Something that movies don’t often do.
While The show has built up this personal conflict between Gabriel/monarch and Marinette/ladybug
By all logic I Should prefer the show ending.
But I don’t, and it’s precisely BECAUSE of the reasons I listed.
Movie! Marinette’s lack of personal connection to fighting Gabriel allowed me to focus on Gabriel’s motive and his interaction with his son. His genuine care of his son being his downfall MADE sense. Marinette was focused on saving her partner than fighting a villain, which the movie showed to be more of the core of the movie. Even foreshadowing the “Save one Life, save the world” line. And it even fits the fairy tale theme ML tries to go for.
Meanwhile the Show’s ending had a really good fight at the core with Marinette and Gabriel clashing. The fight between Monarch and Bug noire is one of the best in the series… BUT it’s because of this conflict that the ending feels so GUT WRENCHINGLY awful. Because it’s just another case of Marinette failing to stop Gabriel from doing what he wanted. Gabriel may have changed his initial wish, but he still basically did what he always did, cease power and leave Marinette to clean up the mess.
Even taking Adrien out of the equation doesn’t help fix the ending. Because Gabriel still did what he wanted. Gabriel gets a statue, he gets to die seen as a hero that he never was. He is seen as a good man. And it leaves Marinette having to let Paris think that. We don’t see Marinette doubting this, we don’t see opposition or even a question on it. It’s Marinette once again doing what she always does, taking on the burden.
Ah but the difference is that ML still has more seasons. This could all be subject to change. People could find out the truth. The wish has consequences.
And that is correct. There are consequences. And do you know who will face those consequences? Marinette. Because she always does. That’s what the show Always does.
The movie ending also has a potential sequel, but at least there, Marinette and Adrien don’t have secrets, Fu is still there, and the weight of reality doesn’t hang on Movie Marinette’s shoulders only.
And I think that’s what it comes down to.
It’s because I love Marinette that I hate how she has to fail after all her efforts and would rather have an ending that has less personal stakes for her if it means she can be better off as opposed to this drama bomb that basically left her back as the one with the weight of reality on her shoulders.

Spark joy
Hi! I wrote a new short fic. It's the one I shared for this past Six Sentence Sunday.
Enjoy?
Summary:
When Alya and Sabine scold Marinette, she finally cleans up and tidies her room.
…and her heart.
AO3
_____________________________
It all started with her best friend's comment:
"Girl, I have no idea how you plan to find anything in this mess! No wonder you lose and forget everything!"
…Which her mother's scolding seconded:
"Marinette, what's with this mess!? I know it’s summer vacation but you should tidy up your room. C'mon! Clean it up!"
"But-" the girl tried to protest, but was interrupted.
"If you don't, then I'll do it myself. And I'll throw away whatever I feel like. Don't come crying to me if you miss something!"
Marinette knew from the hands on her hips, the annoyed brows and the threatening tone, that she was being serious.
"No, please! Don't throw anything away! I'll do it!"
"Tomorrow is Sunday. I want to see everything clean and tidy by the end of the day!"
"Okay…"
___
They were both right: her room was untidy.
A total mess.
But how was she supposed to tidy up her room? All cupboards, drawers and boxes were already stuffed. Where was she supposed to put all her new staff in these conditions?
A visit to Mylene's house that Saturday afternoon gave her a completely new impression.
Minimalistic. Green. Tidy.
Pretty.
"Wow, Mylene. Your room is so clean and tidy!" Marinette admired it, looking around. "How do you always keep it so nice?"
"Have you ever heard of 'the life-changing magic of tidying up'? Or Marie Kondo?"
Mylene opened her eyes with a new vision of the world.
___
The main idea of Mylene's advice to tidy up her room was easy:
You ask yourself a question about a certain item: "does it spark joy to you?"
If the answer is "yes," it stays, if the answer is "no," it goes away.
Moreover, it is important to take notice of how your body reacts to the object.
Tidying up with this method consists of repeating this process until only items that spark joy remain.
Simple.
Even Marinette should be able to do it.
She decided to try it out.
Back at home, she started with the items on her desk.
The sewing machine, the fabrics, the accessories, the glitter, the buttons, the measuring tape, the scissors… all the sewing tools and supplies- they all sparked joy. They were clearly staying.
Her school books and homework… they didn't spark joy. But those were obligations- responsibilities-, just like her earrings. She couldn't throw them away (even if she secretly wished to sometimes).
Her drawing tools and crafting materials; stickers, washi tapes, patterned paper and sketchbooks… They were all surely staying. So much joy in drawing and designing!
She continued looking around when her little friend approached.
"What about this, Marinette?" Tikki asked, carrying a dusty exotic mask around. "I don't think you need this…"
"No! Don't throw it away, Tikki!" She quickly grabbed it. "I got this from one of grandma Ginna's trips! I have to keep it!"
"Does it spark joy, then?"
"It does! Well, not exactly, but we had a welcome party for her that day, and papa baked a cake that day. It brings back good memories!" She fondly recalled. "The mask stays. And so do all of granny Ginna's souvenirs!"
"What about Ginna's candy…?"
"Oh- Ugh… I thought I had gotten rid of all of them…" she made a disgusted expression. "Definitely doesn't spark joy. We're throwing them. It's not a secret anymore that I don't like them so…"
"That's true," Tikki nodded, throwing the candy inside the trash bin.
Marinette moved to her cupboard next.
"All my clothes obviously stay!"
"Aren't these too small for you, Marinette?" Tikki asked at the sight of child sized outfits.
"They are, but I plan to reuse them for creating new pieces of clothing- giving them a second life. There's that '3R: recycling, reuse and reduce' event that Mylene promotes coming soon. We gotta do what we can to save the planet!"
Tikki nodded with a grin, and proceeded to imitate Marinette's arms in a cross shape pose, ready to say a tv program's motto in unison:
"Little changes are powerful!"
They laughed together as they continued tidying up.
___
"My bed!" Marinette jumped, wiggling her legs. "The cat plushie is obviously staying!" She hummed happily. "And the books and the night light too!" She collected and put them back on the shelf.
"Comfy" Tikki muffled snuggling the long cushion.
Marinette giggled at her cuteness.
“Should I throw my alarm clock away…?” she asked, cheekily. “Marinette, don’t!”
“I’m joking, Tikki!” She laughed at the kwami’s protest.
"Okay, next is-"
Her heart skipped a beat, and suddenly, her mood dropped- body tense and mouth turning into a flat line.
"What's wrong, Marinette?" Tikki asked. But then she looked where Marinette was staring at and she understood.
The cork board… and the photos.
"Oh…"
Adrien's photos had been there for a long time. Since that rainy day when he gave her his umbrella and that thunder struck some months ago- and when she (and her friends, including Tikki) had convinced herself that it had been love at first sight, just because of a nice one-time gesture.
Since then, she had done some crazy things to get Adrien's attention- some on her own and some others encouraged by others- all of them with the same result: a fiasco. Only embarrassment and humiliation from her part.
It was tiring.
Plus the model boy had never paid special attention to her anyway…
Well, except-
The lucky charm Adrien gave her for her birthday.
Right- she hadn't cleaned up that drawer yet…
He did put effort into it, since it was handmade.
For a "friend," he had said.
It was so obvious he didn't feel anything more for her.
The current question was: "Do these photos spark joy?"
She went into deep thought.
"Marinette? What are you thinking?"
"Tikki, I think… I think Adrien's photos do not spark joy"
"What?"
"I can't recall what's good about Adrien anymore, Tikki. All the girls' plans to get closer to him always fail and I get humiliated or embarrassed in front of him and everyone else as a result. People think I’m crazy… Geez- I can't even articulate a single word or talk to him like a normal person at all!" She sighed. "And after the failure with the statue at the wax museum…" that was probably the last straw. Too much. A turning point.
Tikki looked at her in concern.
"I don't know, Tikki. I think loving Adrien doesn't spark joy to me anymore. At all"
"But, Marinette-!" The kwami gasped.
"You've just seen it, Tikki! Whenever I look at these photos, my mood darkens and I get sadder, anxious, uncomfortable-" she took a deep breath. "Yes, both these photos and going after Adrien do not spark joy" she looked at Tikki. "I'm getting rid of the photos"
"Are you sure…?"
"I'm sure"
"What about the lucky charm? Are you going to throw it away, too?"
"I don't know… I think I'll keep it. At least for now? I hate throwing presents and gifts away, honestly. I even keep all of Manon's ugly drawings and stones or sticks she picked up at the park because I'd feel bad for throwing them away! So I'll keep the lucky charm hidden in a drawer as a birthday present from a classmate, nothing more"
"You know what, Marinette?"
"Hm?"
"I think this might be one reason why you're so untidy! You can't throw away the presents you've been given!"
"Tikki!" Marinette pouted at the kwami's laugh before joining her. "I think you're right…" she added, remembering a messy little pottery figure Kim gave her many years ago lying somewhere deep inside a drawer. Was it a dolphin? A snake? A monkey? Perhaps a pigeon…? Why did she even keep it if she had no idea what it was supposed to be?
Yes, Tikki was absolutely right about her incapacity to keep her room tidy…
"Let's get rid of these photos first. I think it's time to tidy my heart as well"
Tikki didn't question her- she could tell that the girl had set her resolve. Supportively, she helped her remove and throw them away.
___
With Adrien's photos gone (except the one with the whole class), Marinette could finally smile while looking at her corkboard.
Photos of her with her best friend, Alya, the girls, her friends and classmates, her family, and-
It took her few seconds to realize the extra spark a certain photo caused her:
Luka
This amazing, patient boy who was always there for her, who had been nothing but respectful and nice towards her and sometimes it even felt like their minds and hearts were completely in sync. A boy who was sweet, caring, that made her laugh and, more importantly, a true friend. Maybe a bit more than that since he… he had confessed his feelings for her some time ago- with the most beautiful words she had ever heard. She blushed at the memory, her heart beating faster.
That alluring revelation had made her happy.
Very happy.
And so, looking at Luka's photo felt like-
Joy.
A great amount of joy.
Fireworks.
He never failed to bring a smile to her face (and redness to her cheeks, too).
"I guess this certain photo does spark joy, then?" Tikki teased her human friend.
"Tikki!" She flustered.
"I guess it stays?"
"Yes, it stays. He absolutely stays" Marinette smiled warmly at his image.
That's right, he had been busy lately and barely met up or talked. She didn't want to interrupt his summer music course but…
She missed him.
Maybe- she could try to give him a call…? Or send him a message?
Yes, that would be nice.
A warm smile spread on her face as she typed.
'Hi Luka'
'I know you're busy with your music course and I hope I'm not disturbing you but I was wondering if you had time to talk…?'
'I mean-!'
'It doesn't have to be now! Just whenever you find the time? If you feel like it?'
Was this okay? What if she'd just disturbed him? She didn't have time to overthink it since a new message arrived on her phone.
'Hello, Marinette'
'You're not disturbing me'
'And for you, I can always make the time'
'What's up? :)'
Gosh- she loved that about him… And his eyes… and his smile..
Wait- don’t get distracted!
Focus, Marinette!
‘I wanted to tell you something,’ she texted.
Luka: ‘Sure. What is it?’
Marinette: ‘You spark joy’
Luka: ‘???’
Luka: ‘I spark joy?’
Marinette: ‘Yes!’
Marinette: ‘A lot of joy!’
Luka: ‘???’
Luka: ‘What’s this about?’
Luka: ‘What am I missing…?’
Luka: ‘I can almost hear you giggling on the other side of the phone’
He wasn't wrong. She was giggling.
This boy lived on the Liberty, a houseboat that was a hundred times untidier and messier than her own room. She didn't expect him to know much about tidying up- even though she knew he and his sister Juleka secretly cleaned when Anarka was out.
Besides, Marinette really couldn't picture the Captain asking herself if all that junk she had around sparked joy- the image alone was very funny in her head.
Luka: ‘So you're really not going to tell me? I'm curious now’
Marinette: ‘Fine, I'll tell you’
Marinette: ‘But only if you agree to go out with me the next day you’re free!’
Gosh-! She did it! She asked him out!
Luka: ‘Sure. I'd love to’
Luka: ‘I'm free on Wednesday’
Marinette: ‘Wednesday it is!’
Luka: ‘Cool :)’
Marinette: ‘It's a date ;) ’
There was a long pause.
Did she break him (hopefully)? Was he squealing like she had just briefly done after sending the message? Kicking his feet as she did too, a moment ago? Or maybe he was more the type to yell at the pillow…?
She didn't scare him, did she…?
Her heart was beating fast with anticipation.
And his reply arrived.
It was a short audio with some happy guitar notes.
Luka: ‘Great!’
Luka: ‘I’m looking forward to it! :D ’
She giggled happily as Tikki hugged her.
Marinette: ‘I'll bring macarons!’
Luka: ‘Awesome!’
He sent another audio, this time longer, filled with more happy guitar tunes.
Both of their silly smiles didn’t leave their faces for the rest of the day.
By the evening, her room was clean and tidy to Sabine's surprise and delight.
What Marinette’s mother didn’t know yet was that her heart was also clean and tidy, probably even more than her room. At some point, she should really throw away all these useless presents she still collected… Sooner rather than later, probably.
It still amazed her how, with just the removal of a few photos, her heart felt much happier and lighter, filled with a great amount of joy towards a wonderful blue-haired boy as she excitedly awaited their date on Wednesday.
Little changes were powerful, indeed.

who does adrien love more, ladybug or marinette?
HELLO ANON. i honestly love that u sent this. hard hitting potentially controversial questions are fun to me. i love analyzing and breaking down my writing and characters. also this is about tvl adrichat to anyone who’s seeing this <- im assuming so bc u sent it after I posted ch7
anyway, based on ch1-7, but also how tvl adrichat is in general, id say in simple terms, He Doesn’t Love One More Than The Other
in general, he thinks he shouldn’t be in love with either of them. ladybug, he sees as a door that’s been closed since jubilation. he turns that doorknob open, takes a peek every now and then, heart tightens at the sights he steals. but he’s been under the impression that they are Just Friends. he set that very boundary on his own, on multiple occasions, not to reject her—because ladybug never Properly came clean about being in love with him—but to remind himself that they weren’t a line he should cross. that is, until she revealed her plans and repressed desires to sleep with him. and then black and white swirled together to burn and blare flashing red sirens
and then as of right now in tvl, he’s falling into her arms but still sort of wary about everything he gets to enjoy. he’s afraid it’s too much and that she’ll realize that soon enough, can barely believe it’s still happening/has happened in the first place, and the indefinite nature of the situation is read as Temporary to him. it’s why he acts/acts out in bizarre ways, and tvl ladybug winds up accommodating him in ways she THINKS is sexual, but for him is usually deeply emotional
a part of him in still in denial. his plan from the get go was to not fall in love with ladybug again. he’s admitted several times to the readers that he thinks he’s doomed. but he hasn’t exactly crossed that final line, seen his tragedy for what it was -> he’s been in love with her from the start, and it’s only getting worse, the worst it’s ever been
SO. that brings me to tvl marinette. how does tvl adrichat’s love for her compare? as it has been alluded to/straight up mentioned on occasion across the chapters, tvl marinette broke up with tvl adrien years ago, but never properly explained to him why. they also remained friends, however awkward that was, best friends you could say, enduring high school and university and now they are even navigating working life together!! by literally having their jobs be intertwined. in ch7, it is implied that tvl adrichat hates his job. he mentions wanting to quit for more time with her on several occasions. undoubtedly though, he was also not being too serious, because actually going through with it would mean leaving marinette jobless
no, tvl adrichat isn’t over marinette. he doesn’t really think he is, especially before the events of tvl, and those first few years of their breakup. because he never received an explanation, the uncertainty of the whole situation, and the lack of space or boundaries they didn’t bother to establish in their friendship, a part of him just HOPED she’d change her mind, come around, and take him back. especially since all those years had her dating No One, and he followed suit because he wanted to be with her (and more importantly he just wasn’t interested in anyone else. his life oscillates between Bug Lady and Clumsy Girl)
random tidbit. in ch1 tvl adrichat mentions that he forgets everything that happens when he’s drunk, and this is why he was confused that tvl ladybug Remembered what happened to her when she was absolutely hammered. I’ll let u all make of that however u will
with tvl marinette, as seen in ch4, through adrien’s perspective GETS JEALOUS and appears somewhat into him still -> which is absolutely torturous and difficult because he’s well aware most of her confusing signals ARENT synonymous with wanting to date him again. she has this power and ability to turn his world topsy turvy that she isn’t fully aware of, and what she IS aware of makes her severely guilty
if his situation w ladybug is a closed door that creaks open from time to time, marinette is a house they’re still in together, but every time he sees her in a room, she walks into a different one. so, in conclusion, they both devastate him, and any time he’s with either of them, things aren’t easy on his heart in any sense at all
WHOOPS! poor guy!!

You Let Me Do This In Sweatpants???
Rating: General
Fandom: Miraculous
Pairing: Lukanette
Gifted to: @rierse
Summary:
Sometimes it took some convincing to get Marinette to put her work down long enough to eat. Luka is always willing to put in the effort though.

Prompt: Convincing them to eat
Luka ran cold water into the cullender, shuffling the leaves with his hand cleaning them. He shook it out and set it on the side, continuing putting the ingredients into the lasagna. When he was done, he popped it in the oven and washed his hands, hanging up the tea towel on the oven handle and headed to check in the room next door.
He stuck his head in the room, scanning it until his eyes landed on the person he was looking for. He smiled gently as he saw Marinette crouched at the bottom of a gown, embroidering the bottom with elegant golden flowers on top of the white fabric it already was. He tapped on the skirting board with the heel of his foot, grabbing her attention to where he was leaning against the doorframe.
“Luka! Hi! Sorry, were you talking to me?” Marinette ran her hand through her hair, pushing it up out of her eyes and back.
Luka tilted his head slightly as his smile grew soft, “No, I just came to tell you dinner was in the oven.”
“Oh ok.”
Luka looked around the room. It was kind of a mess. There was fabrics everywhere, bits and pieces spread across every available surface whether for comparison or colour matching or left over bits and bobs discarded. There was lace here and there and needles pinned into random places, one even stuck into the wall.
He shook his head fondly as Marinette went back to her work. He wandered around the room, picking up pieces here and there and making the room a little bit more organized. Enough to be safe at least. Once he was done, he left her to continue in peace, heading back to the kitchen and pulled out pie crust, chocolate pudding mix, and a medium sized pot. He set the pudding on the stove and went about making a chocolate cream pie. He put it in the freezer, knowing that they’d have to eat it a bit after dinner if they wanted it to be cold enough, and checked on dinner. He smiled and pulled out the lasagna, going about setting the table up for two.
Once he thought it was sufficient enough, he returned to Mari’s work room. He made sure his steps were heavier and knocked on the door frame so she wouldn’t be startled. As much at least. She still jumped and looked up at him which made him smile. She had pulled her hair up into a bun which reminded him vaguely of her hero form with the mouse miraculous. Multimouse certainly rated high on Luka’s “Marinette’s cutest looks” list. The space buns were absolutely precious.
“Dinner’s ready,” he spoke gently as he walked over, admiring the work she’d gotten done.
“I’m almost done,” Marinette turned back to her work even though Luka was right next to her, and she knew that he could see she was only just halfway through this.
“It’ll get cold.”
“I can nuke it.”
“Microwaved food isn’t as good as just out of the oven.”
“I’m almost done though,” She finally looked up at him, giving the blue haired boy the best pout she could muster.
“We both know that’s not true.”
Marinette’s shoulders dropped as she ducked her head.
Luka knelt down, bringing a hand to her chin gently pushing it up so their eyes met. He leaned forward until their lips pressed together in a soft kiss. He lingered for a moment before moving up to press one to her nose then her forehead then took her hands in his and brought them to her face and gave each back a kiss.
“Come. Take a break. For me?”
“You don’t play fair,” Marinette whispered, as if speaking louder would shatter the moment like glass.
“If it convinces you to care for yourself,” Luka matched her volume as he released one of her hands to tuck a stray hair behind her ear and pressing his palm to her cheek which she leant into, “I’d cheat every time.”
“That’s not very heroic of you.”
“I never claimed to be a hero.”
She pressed her lips to his once more, pulling away and looking intently into his eyes, “you didn’t have to. You prove it every day.”
Luka’s heart pattered harshly in his chest in a way that spread warmth from his cheeks to the tips of his fingers, a tingly feeling lighting him up and infecting his face and his head was fuzzy in what could only be described as love.
As cliche as it was, he fell in love with her more every day and he hoped- no… he knew he would never lose that feeling.
“Come,” a simple demand as he stood, pulling her up with him.
There was no protest this time, much to his delight as he led her out of the room, she had holed herself into all day long. And when she emerged, he grinned widely as her breath caught in her throat, a gasp exhaled past her lips.
“Luka…”
The dining table had candles set up lighting the room in a dim, homely light. The lasagna was presented on their best plates with a glass of white wine to pair with it, the bottle sitting in the middle of the table with the extra food. Red rose petals were spread across the floor and a vase also sat in the middle of the table with full ones. Nine roses in full bloom, a royal purple.
“There’s dessert in the freezer too. Your favorite,” Luka whispered into her ear as he pressed her into his side, arms wrapping behind her and situating themselves on her waist.
“Luka…” Marinette breathed, looking up at him. Tears had gathered at the corners of her eyes.
“Yes, my Melody?”
“It’s perfect.”
“Just like you,” he pressed a kiss to her head.
He was surprised when she suddenly pulled away, eyes wide and hands waving around frantically, “I can’t be here!”
“Why not?” the blue haired boy asked calmly. He was knowledgeable enough of her freak outs to know that she was not freaking out due to something he did wrong, but something she thinks is wrong with her.
“Look at me! I’m a mess!”
He shook his head in fond exasperation as he looked at her. She continued ranting, arms waving wildly, eyes wide, body swaying with her freak out. The way her hair stuck up in odd places, the way her eyes reflected the candlelight so beautifully, the way she was so worried about how she looked because she couldn’t see how perfect she was in his eyes.
“Marinette.”
“And don’t even get me started on…”
“Marinette,” he called again.
Marinette finally stopped, looking towards him. He kept up his smile as he slowly approached. He bent down, getting down on one knee and watching as her eyes lit up frantic for a completely different reason.
“My Melody, will you marry me?”
————————————————————
Extra:
"I cannot believe you proposed to me while I was in sweatpants."
"I can."
Marinette scoffed, "Why? Because I'm beautiful no matter what?"
"Precisely."
Marinette ducked her head as she tried to repress her smile, "Sap."
"For you? Always."

Note
Marinette a cruel person tbh. Even a psychopath or hell maybe im raising the bar a little too high but a stranger would be able comfort ChatNoir seeing his situation. The New York special and him spiraling made me despise her because someone fucking died to make this partnership work.... this isn't even inconsistent characterization from past seasons this is very consistent she's always been like this. Girl ain't willing to even see what underneath the mask eh? or believe he has other things to do besides fucking risking his life as a teenager im surprised their dynamic lasted as long as they did because she comes off very cold when it comes to her partner compared to Alya. Why she like that hell if I know had it been me i'd cuss her out or at least tell her off. How the hell you don't comfort a human being when they show their insecurities I don't know especially someone you've worked along with that saves paris numerous times.
I gotta ask if Chat Noir was more vocal and angry and actually lost it on her would it finally stick it in her damn head that he isn't someone who pops into existence defeating akumas but a very real boy underneath? You know I have know fucking clue personally what is so hard for her about that being a respectful partner and understanding that Chat is human. I remembered in origins he took more of a leading approach I think sorry my memory is dogcrap these days and yet he encouraged her and gave her confidence what so hard returning the favor back?
I mean, comparing her to Chloe? That's like choosing between a rock and a hard place. Chloe's got that villainess aura, sure, but at least she's upfront about it what expectation is there to be had for a cannon fodder villain like Chloe with a creator who hater her to the point even in-universe she still the story punching bag . Now Marinette, oh please, she's got this pristine "heroine white lotus" thing going on. It's like she can do no wrong, and the world just eats it up.
And don't get me started on Ephemeral. Talk about a masterclass in betrayal! She pulls a stunt that would make Judas proud, corrupts herself with power, and what? No consequences, no rules, just a free pass to wreak havoc. Must be nice living in Marinette's world where the rules only apply to us mere mortals.
And let's not forget her emotional boy toys, Luka and Adrien, just waiting there like loyal lapdogs, ready to clean up the mess she leaves behind. It's the Marinette show, and everyone else is just playing supporting roles in her drama.
But hey, who needs nuance when you've got that heroine Marinette halo shining so bright? It's the perfect excuse for her to mess up royally, and everyone will still be there, cheering her on with no accountability taken . The world's her playground, and we're just living in it.
I'm sorry for ranting it's just im done with her sorry if I made it negative for you.
Calling her a psychopath is too harsh ngl. I disagree with you on that. I don't think we should be throwing around words like that lightly.
But I do agree with your overall point. Very harsh, but pretty close to the mark. I also personally wouldn't compare her to Chloe, but then again, that all went out of the window after the Season 5 finale. I wouldn't call her cruel or evil, but she does benefit from the protagonist centered morality the show adopted in Season 4. Chat Noir shouldn't expect anything from her, and he should apologize for her mistakes because she can do no wrong. It sucks.
Thank you for your ask!

Professeure (of your love)
For @xhanisai based on her Teacher AU posts<;3 here
SUMMARY: After ages of letting Paris believe their beloved superheroes are married and in love, Marinette's superhero partner turned fellow teacher wants to apply the same logic to their civilian lives and put on a fake wedding for their students. Only problem is, for Marinette, the being in love part is very much not an act.
Read on Ao3
“Knock knock.”
Marinette looked up from where she was clearing away various paintbrushes and pencils scattered around the room to her classroom door. Adrien leaned against the frame, grinning at her. Grinning at her almost  too  wide.
“Hi, Chaton, just come in,” Marinette said with a laugh, turning back to her cleaning. “School’s out. No students.”
“Did you happen to look at your student-teacher evaluations yet?” he asked, excitement palpable in his voice.
She glanced back over her shoulder, watching as he seemed to nearly vibrate in place, now standing at the front of her room by the desk. “No… Are they in?”
Adrien nodded up and down. “Yes, and you should look. Right now. At yours.”
Marinette raised an eyebrow at him, but didn’t say anything more. Finally having collected all the art materials in the room and deposited them into a jar for safe keeping, she brushed her hands off on the skirt of her dress as she made her way towards the front of the classroom. As she got closer, Adrien leaned down to drop a kiss on her cheek in belated greeting. She did the same.
“Why are you so excited for me to check  my  evaluations?” she asked as she sat down at her desk. “What did you do?”
“I didn’t do anything at all, my Lady,” he said innocently, though his still-too-wide grin left her suspicious.
She opened up her laptop, quickly navigating to her email where, sure enough, there was a link to view student-teacher evaluations for the current year. A warm smile grew on her face as she read the first one, seeing positive notes and her higher than expected rating. She had hoped and felt that her students enjoyed her class, but it was another thing altogether to actually see it in writing. However, her heart stuttered in her chest when she got to the last section. The (completely optional, by the way) suggestion box.
[  Madame Dupain-Cheng should MARRY Monsieur Agreste. Preferably by graduation :)  ]

Daminette December 2022: 11-Art (PART 2)
PART 2 OF AMBUSH
Damian had been holed up in his painting room for the last 2 weeks. He went to school, but returned back to the room once he got back. Alfred had taken to bringing tea and snacks to the room.
Bruce knocked on the door.
"A classmate is here, Damian." Bruce announced.
Damian sighed.
'Father is going to make me act civil and go downstairs. This is going to be bothersome and a waste of my time. I would prefer to stay in here and paint.'
"Alfred has her in the kitchen." Bruce called out.
'Her? What annoyance decided to act like she knew me, this time?'
"Who?" Damian sighed.
"Marinette?" Bruce answered.
Damian thought of how she helped him get away from the harpies in the library. Marinette was quick and smart. She made him appear to be in a relationship, without placing herself in the line of fire. He recalled how she lit up when she talked about art and fashion. She didn't brag about her own accomplishments or tried to show off to him. She kept her focus on the assignment, the whole time, and barely looked at him. It had been simple to talk with her. It had been, as if, she completely forgot that she had been close enough for him to smell the mint off her breath, the jasmine scent wafting off her clothes, and the shine on her lips.
"Very well." he spoke.
Damian washed off his paintbrushes and made sure to grab his key. He walked out and immediatley saw the disapproval on his father's face. He looked down. Damian saw he was in black sweats a muscle shirt, revealing his scars. He looked at paint on himself and his clothes, but he locked the door, anyways.
"You should clean up." Bruce insisted.
"It's fine." he commented and made his way down.
Marinette easily spotted Damian walking towards her, with paint on his face and clothes.
"Oh my god." she gasped, "I'm so sorry! Am I distracting you from your painting?"
"I'll return to it later." Damian replied.
"No! I can come back tomorrow!" Marinette declared, grabbing her things, "I know I get lost when I design. I barely come out of my room. People have to remind me to eat and sleep."
Damian chuckled in response. Bruce thought Damian hadn't cared about his appearance because he was going to refuse them, but that didin't seem to be the case here. Bruce was shocked by the moment; He had never seen Damian act this way. Damian actually seemed to have a familiar sense with this girl and she didn't seem to mind his attitude.
"You....Your words inspired me, last time." the Wayne heir admitted.
"Oh?" Mari spoke.
"I was painting my mother." he stated.
'Talia?'
"Then, that is definetly more important than a class assignment that isn't due for two more weeks." Marinette declared.
"No." Damian replied, "This may help with the memories. As you stated, I must spend time away to refocus. We'll go to my room."
"I'm sure you don't want me to see it. I know I like my stuff private until I decide to share." Mari responded.
Damian smirked, "It's in different room."
Marinette smiled, "If we ever go to my place, we're staying in the living room. We might sit on a pin or needle in mine. I keep losing my pins and end up finding them later."
As they walked away, Bruce turned to Alfred.
"The boys can never meet her, unless he proposes." Bruce declared.
Alfred just smiled. It seemed the young Wayne was finally growing up.
A couple months later was Valentine's Day. Everyone in Gotham Academy was excited. Many of them had chocolates and cards to give to their friends or loved ones. For some of them, it was 'Confession Day'. Many students were shocked to see Damian Wayne hand Marinette Dupain-Cheng a box.
"Why is he giving her chocolate?"
"How long have they been dating?"
"They're dating?"
"Are you sure?"
"Some girls were crying last year about him making out in the library."
"Did they see Marinette?"
"I don't know?"
"I thought she was single!"
"Yeah, I asked her about her plans for today. She said she had none."
"Is Damian Wayne confessing to her?"
Marinette smiled as she took the box.
"May I open it?" she asked.
Damian nodded. Once she had gotten the wrapping off, she laughed and hugged him.
"These are so cute!" Mari chimed, "I've never seen these before."
"I made them." Damian admitted.
"He made her chocolate?"
"I thought he couldn't cook."
Marinette pulled out what looked like a giant round ball.
"That's not chocolate."
"What is that?"
"It looks like a hacky sack."
"Maybe he really can't cook."
"You made these pin cushions for me?" she questioned, looking at the hand made assortment of macarons, chocolates, and a giant loaf of bread.
"It seemed fitting." he answered, "You informed me you grew up in a bakery and that you kept losing your pins and sewing needles."
"I love them. This is better than any chocolate or card I could have gotten." Mari smiled, before kissing his cheek, "I-I do have some macarons for you."
Marinette pulled a small box out of her bag.
"You told me that you weren't fond of sweets so these are tea flavored. I have chai, matcha, salted caramel, and earl grey." she stated.
"I will try them at lunch today." Damian spoke, "Perhaps, with you?"
"I'd love to." Marinette smiled.
Word quickly spread throughout the school that the Ice Prince was after the Fashion Princess.

BDBWM Day 7 | Take Your Kid to Work
original prompt | complete masterlist
Set at the time Marinette is living with the Waynes
Inari jolts when she hears that Batman will be coming over for a JL meeting—pieces of popcorn fall from her bucket and she desperately tries to clean it all up. She’s been hanging around the HQ whenever she wants a break from the chaotic manor, occasionally giving her opinions on matters whenever the other members ask for her advice.
“Auntie Di! You didn’t say he was coming!” She whines, picking the popcorn that wedged into the couch.
“It’s a meeting for all members, dear. Of course he’s coming.”
“Gah, I wouldn’t have come if I knew!” One of her fox ears twitches.
“We’re still up for that round of UMS later, right Mars?”
“Yeah, sure Uncle Bars.”
“Are you going to stay here?” Wonder Woman asks.
“I might as well stay.” She flicks away stray kernels. “It’s like ‘take your kid to work’ day but he doesn’t know it.”
Inari casts her invisibility, bolts off to a corner near the meeting table and hides just in time Batman enters the room.
Inari stands and listens to the meeting patiently, afraid that if she makes a move or a sound, she can get caught. Of course, she trusts the JL to keep the secret from her Dad and family, but she feels like she has to keep an eye on them this time.
“About the Parisian heroes,” says Batman in the middle of their meeting, “I think we need to be more hands-on in dealing with the recovery of Paris and investigating the guardians.”
“What a stupid-ass decision,” Inari mumbles under her breath.
Superman suddenly chokes out a half-laugh. Inari pales at the same time, forgetting that her Uncle C can hear her.
“Are you alright?” Aquaman asks.
“Yes. Continue please.”
“I thought we already had an agreement with Ladybug not to interfere with the Miraculouses and Paris,” Wonder Woman says.
Damn right, Auntie Di. Inari nods.
Inari internally curses when she sees the message on her staff. Her Uncle Art just gave her an interesting offer and she can’t resist. Keeping her illusion on, she creeps towards the table, takes one of her Uncle Ollie’s arrows and sneaks up towards Batman’s seat.
She carefully pins the arrow on the floor, trapping the base of his cape to the floor.
Finally, as she inches away and records the whole thing, the JL concludes their meeting. Batman tries to stand up but gets pulled down because of the arrow. The others mask their snickers.
“Oliver!” He growls.
Green Arrow raises his arms up defensively. “I was here the whole time.”

IMW Chapter 6
Tumblr media
She selected the draft email titled "school online" and received a response within a few minutes. While waiting for other responses, Marinette checked her private and work emails and accepted a few more quick commissions. Her change in status was accepted, and she was now enrolled in online schooling for her final year of college and lycee until further notice. She was relieved that she had submitted the paperwork for the switch months ago, as her teacher, Ms. Bustier, couldn't block what she didn't know. Marinette made a note of her school portal login and password and changed the standard password to something no one could guess ("Fuckofffuckers!"). She closed her laptop and proceeded to wake Tikki with a gentle shake.
"Time to wake up, sleepyhead," Marinette whispered softly.
Sitting up and stretching, Tikki replied, "Good morning, Marinette."
"Could you get the others and tell them breakfast is ready?" Marinette asked.
"Sure thing, Marinette," Tikki responded, phasing through the wall to gather the other kwamis.
Marinette plugged in her TB hard drive and began transferring her files. Once it was underway, she went back to the living room, grabbed her laptop and the master control remote, and took a seat on the large U-shaped couch. She placed her laptop on the table beside her plate, pressing a button to raise two hidden TV screens from the table, one facing each side of the couch. Marinette turned on Netflix on one screen and Disney Plus on the other, leaving the remotes beside them for the kwamis to decide what to watch. As she settled back into her seat, she sipped her tea.
"Morning, Marinette/guardian," the kwamis greeted as they took their seats.
Wayzz, Tikki, Pollen, and Longg joined Marinette to watch the news. Tik
ki had informed them that Marinette had finally begun the plans they had helped her come up with to escape her toxic household.
By 7:40, everyone had finished breakfast, but before Marinette could collect the plates, Longg said, "Don't worry, Marinette. We'll handle the clean-up." Longg, Barkk, Orikko, Trixx, Mullo, Sass, and Pollen flew the plates to the sink and started washing them. Longg handled the washing, Barkk and Mullo did the drying, Pollen and Orikko carried the plates, and Sass and Fluff put them away.
"So, what are you going to do today?" asked Kaalki. Marinette checked the time.
"Well, I should start on today's classes. It should only take 3-5 hours since I don't have to stop for interruptions. Then...," Marinette said, placing her finger on her chin, thinking. "A quick trip to the shops to restock on fresh ingredients, and then I was thinking of going over our Shadowmoth suspects list. After that, I have some sketching commissions until dinner, and then it's free time." The kwamis had insisted she have designated "free time" to relax and enjoy life, instead of constantly keeping herself busy. Marinette had even started taking hour-long herbal bubble baths with aromatherapy oils selected by Wayzz, with a kwami providing a massage afterward. These baths helped her relax and get better sleep.
"Just make sure you don't overwork yourself, Marinette," Daizzi cautioned. Marinette looked at the kwamis with affection because they genuinely cared for her.
"That reminds me, I have something to show everyone," Marinette said. The kwamis gathered around the open living room, and Marinette walked over to the wall joining her bedroom to the living room. Pointing the remote at the wall, she captured their attention.
"You see, when Uncle Jagged took the sketchbook with my dream studio to build this place, I had some very detailed plans. For example, I included one-way tinted windows, especially the large ones behind the TV. It reminds me a bit of Adrien's bedroom since that entire side of the studio has one-way reinforced glass. This way, no one can see you guys flying around. And I also had this," Marinette entered a specific combination into the remote, causing the entire wall to become transparent, revealing that it was made up of miniature rooms like those found in a dollhouse, complete with small beds and other furnishings.
"On the plans, I labeled this as a large hamster cage, and anyone who knows me knows I've always wanted one. This way, no one will ask questions. I made the furniture myself and even filled the rooms with some hats and clothes for each of you. Everyone has their own customized room and everything," Marinette explained. When she turned around, she was met with 16 surprised and shocked faces.
"Do you guys like it?" Marinette asked hesitantly. The kwamis quickly swarmed her, expressing their gratitude and amazement. The tickling sensation from the kwami hug made Marinette laugh.
"While I do my school work, you guys can explore your new rooms," Marinette suggested. She then pointed to the wall on the left side of the bedroom door and pressed another combination on the remote, causing the wall to descend into the floor. It revealed shelves with DS tablets and other electronics for the kwamis. There were 19 small rooms at the top of the wall, each labeled with a kwami's name, for them to play or read in private. In the middle, there were larger rooms with items like Nintendo Switch consoles and benches for the kwamis to play games together. At the bottom, there were even larger rooms with controllers made from the benches upstairs, allowing the kwamis to play dancing games. The studio's little details were a bit expensive, but Marinette had plenty of commission money and nothing else to spend it on. Her bank account already had a lot of zeros in it, thanks to Uncle Jagged, Cousin Clara, and the people they recommended who paid her fairly for her work. She even had an account that invested some of her money in stocks and other ventures.
"Then you can try out your new toys and gadgets," Marinette said. The kwamis were once again moved by Marinette's thoughtfulness. They had never before had a wielder or guardian who cared for them like this. Marinette had even given her old phone to them so they could watch movies and other things in the Miracle Box. Usually, they were given second-hand items, but Marinette had provided them with brand new things. Marinette found herself once again enveloped in a kwami hug, and they sat there hugging until Marinette's phone alarm went off, indicating that it was time to start her school work.
At 8:10, Marinette reluctantly got out of the hug and began her school work.
After 4 hours she got up started on her Shadowmoth files.
Gabriel Agreste: owner and head designer of the fashion brand Gabriel first came onto the suspect list because he had the Miraculous grimoire and then proceeded to become akumatized into the collector and then taken off the list because at the time it was believed that Hawkmoth couldn't akumatized himself. However he was placed back at the top of the suspect list after the appearance of his partner Mayura. Suspect for Mayura: Nathalie Sancoeur, his personal assistant, Who's health began to decline after the appearance of Mayura and would be in line with the suspect using a broken miraculous. Adrien Agreste once commented that she was showing the same symptoms as his mother did before her disappearance.
After the second scarlet moth incident. Lila Rossi is highly likely to be Hawkmoth's accomplices, with the amount of time between your expulsion and the appearance of the scarlet horde is too covenant unlike the first time where the illusion of an akumatisied Ladybug killing Chat Noir filled all of Paris's people with negative emotions and within 15 minutes the appearance of the scarlet horde.
After finalizing the files she took a look at the Ladyblog, well as much of a blog it was left after Alya started posting illegitimate claims (*cough* Lila *cough*). She was met with a huge headline of "What the HELL happened to Ladybug's suit???!!! She clicked on the video and saw herself sitting last night and with a soft glow, her costume started to change...
Well, that was strange.
Marinette- Tikki! What happened to my suit?
Tikki- well Marinette that was your magic awakening, it would seen that when you resolved yourself to emancipate yourself and put yourself first, your resolve along with the amount of emotion you were feeling awoken your magic causing your suit to change and match your new mental image of yourself and what you thought a hero/Ladybug would look like
Marinette- Wait so your saying my image of a hero was a skin tight barely leaving anything to the imagination, suit?
because that didn't sound right she had spent the first 8 years of her life in Gotham before her father, Batman, shipped her off to live with Tom and Sabine and signed over his rights to them, so her imagine of a hero should have been like Batman with gadgets not a onesie with only a yoyo.
"Tikki- Well, yes and no. Your suit was a result of you not wanting to be a hero when you first transformed, because you couldn't picture yourself was a hero so it gave you basic suit and equipments, I meant to tell you, you could have changed it but slipped my mind and you stopped complaining not long after and by then you had associated the suit and your own image of what Ladybug should look like."
Marinette just stared at the Kwami.
She could have change her suit? She could have more equipment than just a yoyo? She didn't have to have worn that skin tight, relieving suit for the last 3 years?
"Tikki..." staring straight into Tikki's eyes "run"

Gale Reviews: ML Season 5 episode 17 Adoration
(Spoilers as this episode is out before other ones)
-Andre bonding with the child Audrey the supposed love of his life had with another man.
-I pity that man, changed everything about himself for love… it’s actually kind of sad. Because it’s clear he fell for the wrong person.
-Zoe got someone she is in love with. I’d say it’s Marinette, because she has LITERALLY no other people she has seen interacting with. But I doubt it will appear since this is an international show. So my bet is they will imply it without saying it, plus, Zoe doesn’t show the photo she was gonna bury.
-oh so Zoe is in 8th grade while Marinette is in 9th grade. So at least that conforms Audrey cheated on Andre AFTER having Chloe, Damn
-so those two are the reps. Also. Marc is a year younger than them. Interesting
-oh the zoenette is strong in this one
-The storage of all the gifts she made for Adrien, which needs cleaning out. Guess Marinette chilled out about things. Good on her.
-huh… this is the first time we actually get a full on tour of her room. (We see it a lot, but never knew how she divided her stuff up. Neat.
-Oh the hidden adrien simp board is new. Love the touch. (I love the little sticky drawings)
Tumblr media
-That probably hurt Zoe more than she would let on.
-not gonna lie I know Andre isn’t his real name, but I get why he changed it. It’s a mouthful.
-the butlers name is Armand!?
-Zoe knows everyone in the hotel. Good. Glad that girl is respectful to the people that help run the place. (Zoe + 3 respect)
-And Chloe and Sabrina are there… what a shock (not really)
- Yea the show really just removed any and all character development they had for Chloe and squeezed it into Zoe. Points for Zoe standing up to Chloe.
-At least Audrey is still in character.
-Andre really be like (I prefer the daughter that was born from another man banging my wife than my own) points to the Simp mayor
-I take it back Anax as a nickname sounds kind of dope
-You ever just see a character on screen and hope a piano falls on him? Yes I’m talking about Gabriel that sterilized tampon
-now Nathalie here being the GOAT with only one line. Respect for Nathalie. Girl really gave up on her simp tendencies and decided to just be the mother Adrien needs
-Gabriel really be the worst. Looks like Lila gonna cook up something
-seems Zoe forgot about the photo is out. Which I bet will cause a misunderstanding with her hiding it.
-What exactly does Sabrina have morals in? Also side note, PUNCHING BAG?! Really?
-Yea, Chloe just be mustache twirling evil
-Vanisher is back and with Dog powers
-Lila literally plotted an akumatization.
-if I had a dollar for everytime Someone couldn’t tell Marinette they were in love with her. I’d have 2 nickles. Which isn’t a lot but weird it happened twice
-Marinette is pretty clever figuring out all the details… EXCEPT THE FACT THAT ITS HER!?
-Marinette shows she supports Love is Love.
-Op she thought it was a he, to bad Marinette you failed the game. Rip.
-wait did Marinette just condone polyamory? I might have read that wrong
-Marinette consulting Alya on the matter
-oh so that’s how Marinette gets the assumption it’s Adrien. To be fair, I’d have come to that conclusion at some point to.
-oh I can feel the awkward situation coming in 3…2….1….
-Zoe, thinking (wow I reall fell for a simp)
-ah yes the cringe is finally here, now to spend the next Hour trying to watch the episode.
-OOOO A MONTAGE, so how many items can be retrieved via one whistle blow
- They really replaced Luka with Nino. Wait… DOES THAT MEAN WHAT I THINK IT MEANS! Was the truth finally revealed?!
-I get the plan now, they are framing her for stealing stuff. So basically what Lila did in the episode Ladybug. That’s not surprising but also kind of mid. I was expecting more pizzaz. Side note, Zoe was with her the whole time? Also why would she steal from her parents?
-The Chloe accusing her part was clever, because the motive of Chloe walking in to yell at Marinette is very believable
- okay I take it back, this plan has Pizzaz. But the fact everyone sort of just believes it even her own parents? Like come on? And with an akuma litterally anything is possible.
-And Marinette caught on, sees vanisher thanks to the flowers.
-Chloé legit has a Gold phone?!
-Zoe is taking the blame! Zoe no!?
-Oh! Vanisher can just call back whatever she wants. Proof is in the pudding. Good thing Marinette is ladybug. Piñata time!!! Viva piñata
-yum ladynoir crumbs
- Rip Luka’s guitar
-Chloe now getting stared down
-So confession time!
-Well she never outright say it… but She pretty much says it and Marinette confirms it though turns her down. I’m surprised they did that much
-I was complaining earlier about subtlety but this was tastefully done.
-I FUCKING KNEW SHE WAS DOWN BAD SINCE DAY ONE!
-Good on Zoe for encouraging Marinette. Even though she got turned down. But at least it was canon
-Oh damn Marinette is gonna confess
-SHE DID IT FOLKS! She fucking did it! And Adrien is receptive! Will we get a kiss!?
-GABRIEL YOU COCKBLOCKING FUCKING PIECE OF GARBAGE! I WILL END YOU!
-My heart breaks for Marinette
_________________________________________
7/10
It was a fine episode, I think a lot of it felt padded out, and while I enjoyed the first few minutes and the LAST few minutes were epic. The rest of the episode felt… meh.
Yea Adrien is a sentimonster. There is no denying it. Like I’m sorry for the hood outs. This episodes ending confirmed it completely. Which may be the reason I’m not gonna rate it higher.

TRICK OR TREAT! 🎃
whooooaa..... I've never seen a coffee AND banana costume, how did you even come up with that!!
hmmm.... what about..... a snippet from a fic where marinette grapples with adrien's untimely death! but it's an alyanette scene.
When Marinette is done, she wraps a towel around her body, knocks on the door as a signal, and takes her place on the floor in front of the toilet. Alya enters and from the counter picks up her usual instruments, a wide tooth comb and a spray bottle of hair product. She settles herself behind Marinette, who brings her knees to her chest and rests her chin in-between.
Alya begins working at the ends, spraying treatment where needed.
“Did you know the slogan ‘No Tears’ meant no tears in the hair, not that you wouldn’t cry?”
Marinette smiles. It is delicate, weak, but it’s there. “Sure explains a lot about my childhood.”
She hisses involuntarily when Alya snags a tangle.
“Sorry, girl.”
“It’s okay.”
Alya taps the comb on her best friend’s arm, which is rubbed raw and red. “I thought I told you to not scrub so hard.”
Marinette is an ashamed kid. “I’m sorry.”
There are more groans and knotted strands, and Marinette’s head feels tender to the touch, but she is grateful when the comb finally slides through her fresh hair.
“Do you want me to braid it? It would help it from tangling.”
“No,” Marinette replies quickly, feeling the clean strands slip between her forefinger and thumb. “He… he liked it down.”
There is the click of a button, and the hairdryer sounds. Marinette closes her eyes and lets herself enjoy the comforting way Alya’s fingers massage her scalp, taking sections between her fingers and running them down the strands to dry it straight, how the hot air brushes her shoulders. It takes longer than she remembers to dry it. It must be so long now.
