Legends Never Die, They Just Need Some Time and Change

You know, I'm still bummed about Mega Man Legends 3. I never played the first two games. Heck, my first exposure to the franchise was the NT Warrior cartoon.

I joined the devroom, voted in the contests, everything.

I bought the 3DS exclusively for the game, only to be disappointed with its cancellation.

I joined the Get Me Off the Moon movement; we made waves, did Q&As, livestreams, preserved devroom pieces. Capcom said "Yeah, we hear you, but it's not happening."

Does that mean we should give up, after being part of developing what is essentially our game?

No.

While we may not get the game going right now, we can wait for the legacy collection to catch up.

For those who don't know, Capcom needs money in order to operate. Their resources are finite and they must make decisions to ensure they make a profit. That's why they treat certain games (Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter) the same way Activision makes CoD games, a surefire way to make money. However, they also release ports to gauge fan reaction in order to make games of their other respected franchises.

It's called "The Capcom test."

If port sales are good, they can make an estimated guess, take a chance, and make a game related to said port.

Megaman legacy collection sell good? Megaman 11.

X legacy collection sell good? XDive Offline.

Zero/ZX legacy collection sell good? Eh, not really, but you kind of expect that when those games are both niche and hard, something you can't rely on if you want to make a profit.

Battle Network legacy collection sell good? Yep.

Each of those collections have reached $1M within two months of release, except Zero/ZX.

And now we have two sub series left: Starforce and Legends.

I'm predicting Capcom will release Starforce first in 2026. Why? That would be the twentieth year anniversary of its japanese release. Why the Japanese release and not international? It would help space out releases between collections, since 2027 would be the thirtieth year anniversary of legends.

And this is crucial. When (and I mean WHEN) Capcom releases the Legends legacy collection (with better controls, HD graphics, all that good modern stuff), and it sells well (like a million copies), then the higher ups would start negotiating if they should finish the story and finally agree to developing Mega Man Legends 3.

But until then, keep making noise. When people say "vote with your wallet," Capcom takes it to heart. So vote megaman. Buy the legacy collections. Buy multiple copies. Join their super elections website, and vote blue bomber.

Because Legends Never Die.

Hello! So this was originally going to be an ask but it spiraled out of my control and it got too long so here we are :D I hope you enjoy my ramblings. Also I'm not a writer so I'm sorry if I sometimes don't make sense (⁠•⁠ ⁠▽⁠ ⁠•⁠;⁠)

Your legends reborn AU has given me brain worms and ideas and I would like to share them if you don't mind! :D

It's mostly about Zero.

So, in one of your posts you said that you view the guardians' animalistic traits as a sign of freedom and that got me thinking about Zero.

I'm not 100% sure on how you interpret him, or how you want him to be in the au but from what I've gathered you like to see him as a Creature™ and it's how i view him too most times!

I love your head cannon that Zero can go on all fours because was not only made to be the ultimate weapon but also the ultimate predator (or hunter I don't remember the exact word you used)

So I was thinking that in your legends reborn au, since it's a time of peace and he is not a war machine anymore, he's (mostly) not a weapon anymore! :D

So, his predator/ hunter side is more present which makes his animalistic traits more prominent then the guardians. He can run on all fours, has paws :3, I like imagining him using his hair/mane as a bed or a blanket, and maybe give him some wings to reflect the absolute armor and the mother elf a little since she was based on him. (I still think he wears armor though)

I just want them to represent how free he is in the new world. I see the world of megaman legends as being very freeing for a being like Zero.

I think he has always lived in very restricting conditions. As I said before this man is a Creature™ and I don't think Wily ever intended for him to be a social one or to live in crowded places like a city (cuz he was supposed to Destroy those). I imagine living in the hunters HQ with so many reploids never felt quite right to him.

And Sure he could act like other reploids and mostly blend in but his mind was still so different he had to work extra hard to fit in. (Basically he's had to mask so hard for most of his life)

I think the only time he felt most like he was in his natural habitat was in the Zero games when he was mindlessly destroying thousands of enemies in large spaces to achieve a goal, and mostly not talking to people. It was still not very fun for him though, since missing most of his memories, and missing people he did not remember did not feel nice.

Then he wakes up in a world where there is no war, no virus, no mavericks, no great or good he needed to die for. Only (relative) peace and a strange new body that needed to sleep and eat.

His body is hard to get used to. The prospect of hunting is not new to him, but eating definitely is, and sleeping is just as hard. Getting used to it is challenging enough that it distracts him from thinking about his situation too hard at first.

After a while, it starts to hit him that he doesn't have a purpose. He had always had something he had to do, something or someone to fight for. But now there was no one and the peace he and his loved ones had fought so hard for was achieved. Now his only purpose was to keep himself alive and help some of the people he finds in trouble, because what else does he do?

This makes him feel empty at first but then it's starts to feel so natural. To just exist, to hunt and help people he finds along the way, to learn about this new world and finally live.

He had never really lived before, not like this, his life was always dominated by being a weapon first. And later, accidentally adopting someone will really make him feel like he's alive.

He still misses X, Axl and many others terribly, but he tries to keep himself busy

Aaaa anyway, what I wanted to get at is that he's finally truly free. Like X is. And I like to portray that as him being able to be more wild.

You know, with people asking "what if _ survived" I gotta ask a weird one...

What would happen if Omega somehow survived in your Legends Reborn AU?

Cuz I mean, technically speaking (depending on what you want to take as canon) he did act as an ally during the ZX incidents.

Food for thought I guess on my favorite psychopath.

THE FUCKING EQUIVALENT OF RUNNING INTO AN EXTREMELY POWERFUL SECRET BOSS BY COMPLETE RANDOM CHANCE, THAT UR UNDERPREPARED FOR AND DIE EMBARRASSINGLY!

But the answer to the question. I strongly doubt that Omega would be allowed to roam freely. Especially if you consider that he could have been a HUGE problem to terra if he was set loose there.

However since the Hunters (mainly Axl and Zero pre-X awakening) have been around if Omega were to ever show up to cause trouble Zero and Axl would have dealt with him since ya know No Mother Elf and stuff. He’s powerful but without her presence and other factors he can be dealt with but good luck surviving his bullshit lmaooooo.

Since in ZX and A he’s kinda a secret boss trapped into a pocket dimension this gives me an idea that he was sealed away. Omega is just too dangerous and risky to let him go. So a solution is made to keep him locked away in the set of Ruins and the dimension to ensure he doesn’t cause danger for everyone….yet…

In my interpretation Omega isn’t just Zero’s evil body and shit but rather his own type of cracked up cyber elf. Somewhat akin to the Mother elf in a way. This also affected his appearance as well. He still has Zero’s body but its now a fusion of the armor that he had before, some Cyber elf traits and Draconic quirks. He very much can turn into a monstrous form, but he has shackles around his arms to show that he’s basically trapped/contained. In terms of personality he sort of Chilled out? He's still a menace, a bit of a maniac violent as ever that now only craves battle and destruction but he’s now directionless in a way. Because it turns out living in a cyber dimension for thousands of years can make a person go a lil kooky. But thankfully he goes dormant for long periods of time. Cause again the fucking boredom

Being the menace that he is, Omega did not only cause corruption into the machines that surround the Area to be more aggressive and dangerous. But also causes augmented distortions creating portals to his own version of cyberspace called “Omega Space”, dragging his victims into his own little lair so he can fight/kill them. Cause well this Era is just too boring and nothing ever interesting ever happens aside from dealing with carbons that caught his attention.

These ruins are completely restricted and only Diggers who are S-Class or have very special permission from the guild master are allowed to go to these ruins as they are Rumored to hold incredibly powerful relics and tech but a dangerous monster guards it along with extremely dangerous reaverbots. The only times it is deemed safer to enter is when Omega is “Dormant” but Cyberspace distortions can still happen so it’s recommended to come at least prepared for worst case scenarios.

But at some point something happened that caught his attention. A presence that he hadn't felt for a very long long Long time.

Megaman X and his four pathetic guardians are now in this era! With weaker bodies that match with the Planets population!!

The bastard doesn’t care how and when they made it but doesn’t care. He was ecstatic! Finally!! Sweet sweet revenge!! Finally opponents that not only can put up a fight but also that he would personally reduce them to pieces again! Especially X…he secretly hopes that if that Blue bastard is in this world that would also mean that HE is also around here too!

But also strangely someone else who shares a Link to X himself is around. Bizzare, if he recalled The guardians are the only ones that share a genetic connection to him. But this Boy, unlike the Guardians, is much closer to his “father” compared to the other four.

So young, so innocent so…so…Naive wouldn’t be a shame to see him break under his claws.

He looks forward to meeting him just to crush everything that he knows and loves just like what he did to his dear papa during the Elf wars.

He can wait after all, so there’s no hurry after all. If there's anything that a Digger has is their greed, soon the treasures of his domain will tempt them to come…
