Imagine a world where Obi-Wan survives episode IV and has to deal with another generation of disaster romances with the Skywalker family.
Leia: *falls head over heels with a dashingly handsome and very mouthy rogue who has more red flags than green*
Obi-Wan: “Oh no.”
Luke: *flirts with a stubborn yet extremely caring world leader despite the Jedi’s no-attachment rule*
Obi-Wan: “Not again.”

—Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture I love) I shan't have lied. It's evident the art of losing's not too hard to master though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.
-- 'One Art' by Elizabeth Bishop
you ever think about how after everything Ahsoka told Vader "I'm not leaving you" and it wasn't enough

Continuing this fix-it AU where Commander Fox springboards off the deep end into a full-on rebellion, featuring unlikely allies belatedly finding out they are allies far too late to stop being allies but then again it’s never too late not to throw a terrifyingly destructive fit about it (Maul)
Close-up’s under the cut

im sure this has been done soooo many times but gffa au where anakin goes to the jedi council and fesses up to being married and they immediately think he means to obi-wan and he thinks they understood that it's to padmé
("how old were you when you got married?" "Nineteen, just after I became a Jedi Knight. I wasn't a padawan anymore!"
"Consensual, was it? Feel pressured, did you?"
"Not at all! I had to do the convincing. I really begged, for like. an embarrassingly long amount of time. I wanted this marriage more than anything in the entire galaxy."
"Has this marriage affected your reasoning during the war?"
"no way! We have the same principles, fight for the same things. Now I'm just fighting to come home as well so we can be together again.")
and anakin doesn't realize this until obi-wan gets back from a mission, does his debrief with the council, and comes to anakin's quarters with the strangest look on his face. "padawan, why did six members of the Jedi Council just wish me congratulations on my nuptials? to. my. former. padawan."
and anakin is gobsmacked and goes about trying to set the record straight, but now no one believes that he isn't married to obi-wan. they think padmé has agreed to be the cover-up because obi-wan got pissy that anakin told the council before he felt ready.
and to top it all off, now anakin can't stop thinking about actually being married to his master. he hadn't realized that was an option?? but everyone's making some pretty strong cases for it......

Okay, the joke is funny sometimes, but the “Luke is a baby uwu who wouldn’t hurt a fly and Leia is so much like Anakin and would have killed Darth Vader instantly with the sheer force of her awesomeness and rage” fanon take irks me sometimes. Like, did Luke going absolutely lava-rage-monster insane on Vader, beating the living daylights out of him, hacking his arm off, and just barely holding himself back from chopping his head off or slashing his breathing apparatus open or sending him plummeting into the chasm below for even mentioning Leia and just barely holding himself back from giving into that darkness mean nothing to you? We all think of Luke as this sage-like bastion of light, which isn’t necessarily incorrect, but I think we all forget how hard-earned that is. The entire point of Luke’s arc in Episodes 5 through 6 is just how easily he could fall to the dark side. Yes, Luke is kind and sees and brings out the light in others like Padme, but he is so much like his father! That’s the whole point! He grew up wanting to escape a desert planet, he’s a mechanic, he’s an incredible pilot, he connects to the Force so easily it’s like breathing, he’s impatient, he’s reckless, he develops attachments too easily and they run too deep. He runs out on his training in Episode 5, and from that point on, he’s standing at a precipice—he could fall so easily. He could fall like Anakin. He saw his own face in Vader’s mask in the cave even before he knew the man was his father—he knows it. He has all that darkness in him, but the difference is that he conquers it. Luke is supposed to be what Anakin could have been if he had not fallen; he is Anakin’s chance at redemption. But ignoring all of this beautiful parallelism between the two for the sake of a “haha baby Luke girlboss Leia” take is a severe disservice to both Luke and Leia’s characters, as well as the main narrative arc of Star Wars as a whole.

The biggest argument that Anakin's story in the prequels is not about being failed by everyone rather than about giving in to your worst impulses is anidala. You could say that Obi Wan was too quick to give up on him, you can say he had a hard life, but can you really say that Luke was the first person to offer him unconditional love, knowing what he'd done, to tell him he could stop, to offer support? You can't, because Padme did all that. Anakin changed.

luke: dad, don't say it like that! din isn't some old bag of bones
anakin: no, i suppose not
han: hey, this old bag of bones can still move! how else did you get a grandson?
leia: oh force help me
anakin:
padme: anakin, put the knife down
