I rewatched the entirety of Penny Dreadful this week and have now moved on to the sequel, City of Angels (because, y'know... lost my job. Nothing but time) and I think with CoA, they missed a great opportunity for the same type of amazing opening credits that the first series had.

I'm still disappointed they canceled this because I loved it.

Daniel Zovatto in "The Pope's Exorcist" was so great that I wanted to see his other works.

He seems to have appeared in a lot of horror movies, but since I can't watch anything too scary, I ordered the Blu-ray of `Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.'

It's a heart-breaking story and I enjoyed watching it, but I have two problems.

First, there is no Japanese version (unless I translated it myself), so I only understand about 70% of the story.

Another is that Season 2 was canceled, leaving some unsolved mysteries.

It's a TV drama that was released three years ago, so even if the production team had revealed a secret somewhere, it would be difficult to search for it now.

I'm in trouble!

By the way, as I said earlier, I watched this drama because of "The Pope's Exorcist."

That's why I'm happy when a scene that reminds me of `The Pope's〜' comes out.

It was a good relationship, with Side-parted haired Daniel Zovatto becoming a partner with a charming older man and bonding over a shared sin.

There was also a devilishly beautiful boy who suddenly started spewing rude and obscene words!

If you're a fan, it's definitely worth a look.

Working on the GOOD OMENS graphic novel while watching PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS. I'm only one episode in, but I like it so far. Natalie Dormer is the lead. I can watch films and tv shows pretty well while doing color or inking.

The GOOD OMENS drawings are by hand, and I do all the color in Photoshop.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels (left) — Natalie Dormer plays Rio, a ginger in a patterned zoot suit over an old rose shirt, and short hair styled in stiff waves on the right side of her head. She is one of several disguises of the demon Magda, in this case the one who riles the Los Angeles pachucos into revolt and fallout.

Good Omens (right) — a promotional still of David Tennant as Crowley in profile view, wearing an all black zoot suit (except the dark grey shirt and red necktie barely visible) with shades for his snake eyes and a fedora he adjusts on his head as he seems to check himself out in a dressing room mirror.

I also think

Magda and Crowley would set an entire country on fire if they were ever in each other's presence, thanks to Magda being the traditional temptress type who brings the evil out in human beings and Crowley just being a literal minor god who wants to enjoy life but was trapped in demonic villainy instead

pachucos and pachucas were clearly onto something when they decided on the zoot suit and global warming has robbed us all of the convenience of bringing this fashion style back
