Hermits and Empires DnD Part 1
"Welcome to our first DnD session…I am your humble dungeon master. So let's take a look at what's happened leading up to present times…the Rapture."
The Rapture was an event that shook servers to its core. Causing strange and often destructive occurrences to happen, such as moons falling, entire empires being cracked and in the worst case scenarios, entire worlds known as servers being destroyed. This even even ripped some people out of their own server, sometimes warping them back in time and placing them in another server. No one knows what caused it. Many servers ended up colliding with each other and forming the world we know now…
"Oh Grian!" A familiar chipper voice called from bellow. Grian looked down from his perch to see Scar waving him down. He chuckled before flying down from the floating rocks he had constructed.
"What's up Scar?" He asked waving. "You've got mail!" He said holding out an envelope. "What are you my mail man?" He asked taking it.
"I don't know, these four letters appeared on my doorstep. I asked Pearl and Impulse to meet us over here, there's one for them too." Grian shrugged, noting the wax seal with two swords going into a block with a crown on top.
"Huh, I wonder where this came from." He replied, scratching his head. "Beats me," Scar replied.
"Wonder where what came from?" Impulse's voice came from behind them. The dwarf was a few feet smaller then the two, with a great bushy beard and hair pulled back to show horns coming out of his forehead. Accompanying him was his base neighbor and Grian's sister Pearl.
"We got mail?" She asked seeing the envelopes. Scar handed them out. "Yea I don't know they just appeared at my base," He said scratching his head. He took a seat in his wheelchair as the four began to open their letters.
Grian I send this letter to you from the server of Empires I, Pixlriffs of the Ancient Capital request the presence of you and three other Hermits in the Capital. I wish for you to take a rift at these coordinates. It will take you to my server, Empires for a meeting with 6 other people. I have a job for you regarding the Rapture, an event which I know you know well.
Warmest regards Pixlriffs, Ancient Capital Archeologist
"What's this then?" Pearl asked. "An invitation to an ancient capital? For a job?" "Sounds like it," Impulse replied. "I wonder if any other Hermits received this."
"I asked around, Xsuma has no clue about this. He suggested it might be from another server," Scar replied "Do we have directions?" Grian asked.
"It says to take the rift at these coordinates," Pearl replied. "Wait G, isn't that…" Impulse pointed out, glancing down at the hole under Grian's base.
"Yea I guess it is." He shrugged flying down. "Wait for me!" Pearl called, flying after him with her owl wings.
"G! I hope you made a way down for us!" Impulse shouted from the top. "There's an elevator don't worry! I didn't forget we can't get Elytra's anymore. End's closed off!"
Scar and Impulse soon joined the two Avian's as they looked into the strange rift Grian had uncovered days prior.
"So how does it know where to take us?" Impulse asked. "Doesn't say," Pearl said. "I guess it just does." Scar slowly rose to his feet, grabbing his cane from nearby.
"You sure you'll be fine with your cane Scar?" Grian asked. "Oh I'll be fine don't worry about me," He replied smiling. He tapped the chair twice, watching as it shrunk down into a small orb. He put it on his hip before whistling for his cat.
"Oh Jellie!" The spectral cat meowed, jumping down from the top of the hole, landing on his shoulders. He smiled, tipping his hat. "Let's go go go!" Impulse laughed shaking his head.
"I say we all hold onto each other to make sure we don't get separated." "Good idea mate," Pearl said, holding onto her brothers sweater. "Don't want to get separated from you again."
"I'm seriously having Deja vu," Grian replied making Impulse and Scar laugh. Pearl just smiled at him nodding. "Me too Grian, me too." She held onto Impulse who held onto Scar.
"Ready?" Grian asked. The other three nodded as they started to run in. "Geronimo!" "Allons-y!" Scar yelled out in a fake British accent. "Oh for gods sake!" Impulse shouted. "Woooooo!" Pearl shouted, as they all jumped into the rift.
"Soft landing," Impulse said landing on his feet. Grian hovered for a moment before landing down with Pearl. Scar came through and almost fell over.
"Whew, I tell you what someone passed gas," He said, stabilizing himself with his cane. "Hey look a festival!" Peal said pointing up.
"Did we even bring our Diamonds?" Impulse asked, patting his pocket. "Oh no," Grian said sighing. He felt around and pulled out some gold coins. "Mine are in my ender chest."
"Same," Scar said sighing. "X warned if we were heading to another server our ender chest wouldn't work. Even though a bunch of servers combined into one."
"Well looks like we've got gold to work with," Grian said sighing. "We could scam-I mean make some money," Scar replied, his eyebrows wiggling around.
"Scar!" Pearl said smacking him. "First thing you do is try to scam someone!" "Well haven't you two made some fun friends." Pearl and Grian turned around to see an old friend leaning on the rocks.
"Martyn!" Pearl yelled out, running out and hugging him. "Oh it's so good to see you. Where have you been?"
"In the void," Martyn replied causally shrugging. "The void!?" Grian exclaimed.
"Hey you can't say much!" He said pointing at him. "Hmm touché," He mumbled before laughing
"Mind introducing us?" Impulse asked, scratching his beard. "Oh right, Impulse, Scar this is Martyn," Pearl said smiling. "He's a friend of ours from the Evo server!"
"Martyn don't run off!" Another voice shouted. A smaller female rushed over, wearing a large witches hat
"Sorry Shelby, I got excited," he said sheepishly scratching his head. "Oh this is Shubble, I've been helping her out with some jobs around her empire."
"Nice to meet you all. You guys didn't get a letter from Pix about a job did you?" Shelby asked, holding up her letter.
"Yea we did," Impulse said holding up his. "Huh so that's…" Scar counted on his fingers. "Six of us, where are the other two?" At that moment, horns rang out from the festival. The six of them slowly went back up to the grounds to see what the commotion was about.
"Introducing Princess Gem of Dawn and Scott of Chromia!" An announcer rang out. Scott shook his head, adjusting his fedora on his head.
"Was that really necessary?" He asked, tying up one of his many lama friends in the pens. "I know," Gem said sighing. "A bit too out there for my liking."
"If it was Oli I'd be fine with it," Scott said chuckling. "Agreed. Now we need to find Pix and ask him about the letter."
"We should at least pay tribute to the fallen empires," He said softly. "A lot of my population are from Rivendell, and I'd like to respect the ruler."
"That's a good point," she said sighing, rubbing her arms. "You miss them?" He asked softly.
"Yea," she said, playing with her pink dress. "I miss a lot of them…" She glanced up at the banner of her former kingdom and academy, Crystal Cliffs.
"Gem!?" She quickly jolted looking over to see a dwarf and avian, who looked a lot like Pearl looking at the two.
"Oh shoot!" She said, bolting in the opposite direction. "Cover for me Scott!" He stood there confused, watching the two chase after her.
"Get back here missy! Where have you been!?" The avian shouted flying after her. Scott laughed, a little confused before glancing at the tent representing Rivendell. He sighed going over, glancing down at his hands before kneeling and muttering a small prayer. He shut his eyes for a moment before-
"Scott!" He jumped up and yelped, turning around to see Shelby standing there laughing. "Don't scare me like that Shelby! Sensitive ears!" He pointed to his barley hidden pointed ears before laughing with her. "Is this about Pix's letter?"
"Yea how'd you know?" She asked crossing her arms "Cause Pix also sent me one too." He nodded before noticing the other three guys behind her. "Ello strangers. Scott of Chromia at your service."
"Can I try on your hat?" The wood elf asked with a smirk. "Scar!" The avian squaked at him. "What it's fancy!"
"Don't give it to him, you won't get it back," he said. "How dare you accuse me of such a thing Grian!" Scott laughed before pulling out an extra.
"Here you go," he said smiling. "Yay!" Scar said taking it and putting it on. "Oh Scar, it even looks good on you," Grian said shaking his head.
"He looks so shady," The half elf said laughing. "I'm Martyn by the way." Scar laughed, leaning over to Scott. "Why don't you step into my office and we'll discuss some deals." The four of them laughed brightly.
"Scott help!" He looked over to see Gem caught by the two and lifted by Pearl. "Watch it Pearl I'm wearing a dress!"
"Is this where you've been this whole time?! We've been worried sick about you!" Impulse scolded. The group laughed once again, before the sun set over the mountains. They jolted hearing fireworks go off.
"So pretty!" Pearl said putting Gem down. Grian nodded before glancing over at the bridge. "Hey Scott how well is that bridge lit up?" He asked.
"Umm I'd say well why?" He asked. "Cause there's a bunch of mobs heading straight across it!"

Summer of Like // Farleigh Start x OC (26)
We fuck three times, and by the end of it, I’m completely exhausted. Exhausted enough that it takes the slamming of a door to rouse me from my slumber. The sun is high in the sky, streaming through the window onto the bed. Farleigh’s head rests on my chest, one of his arms slung around my waist. He startles awake as well, lifting his head up to blink blearily at me.
I sit up, my spine cracking from the movement. “Jesus-” My head pounds, and the light stings my eyes. “What time is it?”
“No idea.” Farleigh’s voice is raspy. “Who-?”
Another door slamming down the hall interrupts him. A voice drifts through the walls - a little frantic, a little lost. “Felix?” Two more doors creaked open and then slammed shut again. A pair of heels click rapidly back down the hall - a sound I’ve come to associate with the house staff.
The overwhelming sense that something is wrong washes over me. I’ve never heard a door slam in Saltburn before. I’ve never heard the house staff run either. Farleigh looks at me, and I know he’s thinking the same.
I slip out of bed, and pull on a pair of boxers, and a Warped Tour tee shirt from two years ago.  Farleigh follows suit, pulling his clothes from last night off the floor and sliding back into them. I slip on a pair of flip flops, but Farleigh pushes on without any. He steps out into the hallway first, revealing the wreckage of last night.
Glitter coats everything like dust, and streamers litter the floor. One of Venetia’s heels sits in the hall before her bedroom door. I peek into her room - empty. That’s weird - in the same way that the slamming doors is weird. If she’s hungover, she won’t get out of bed unless she absolutely has to. But her room is empty.
“No V?” Farleigh asks, waiting at the top of the stairs. A pair of plastic fairy wings hangs from the banister, left behind.
I shake my head, and follow after him, heading down the spiral steps.
The entire estate is a mess. Forgotten drinks cover every available surface - any table with a glass covering sports a dusting of coke. Pieces of costumes are littered around - a butterfly shaped mask, a silver sequined skirt, a suit jacket, one of the cufflinks still in the sleeve. Farleigh and I pick our way through the mess, heading towards the library until I spot a head of bleach blonde hair through the window.
I stop, grabbing his arm. “It’s V.”
He leans back, following my gaze out into the yard. We watch as Venetia stumbles through the mess, frantically searching for something.
Farleigh and I break into a run at the same time, dashing to the nearest door. He jumps down the stone steps into the grass, and I follow. It’s like she’s in a world of her own - she doesn’t even see us until we’re standing in front of her, and even then her eyes still shift around, frenetic. Something is really really wrong.
I place one hand on her arm, and the other cradling her cheek. “Are you okay?”
“What’s going on?” Farleigh asks.
“It’s Felix.” She says, fast enough that she almost trips on the words. “No one can find Felix. No one’s seen him since last night, and it’s been hours since Mum and Dad started looking and no one’s found him yet.”
“Oh fuck.” Farleigh’s voice is strained.
A spear of panic strikes through me. “Have you tried calling him?” I ask.
Venetia nods. “He won’t pick up. Or his phone’s dead-”
“Okay.” I say. “Where have you already looked?”
The sun rises higher in the sky as Farleigh and I join in the hunt, scouring the grounds that haven’t already been combed through. We sprint down to the tennis courts, we sift through the tall grass of the field, Farleigh climbs onto the roof. The more places we look to no avail, the heavier the panic sets in. We’re running out of places to look.
Venetia is beginning to sound hoarse from shouting. “Felix?”
Farleigh pushes his hair away from his forehead, wide eyed and frantic. “Fuck. Fuck.” His gaze falls on the lake. “You don’t think-”
He doesn’t even have to finish the sentence before we’re all running towards the lake, splashing into the water. Sweeping my arms in great circles under the water, I start feeling around for anything that might resemble a human body. I can feel my heartbeat in my ears.
Doing the same, Farleigh still shouts. “Felix?!”
I paddle farther out from the shore, and take a deep breath before I submerge myself completely, sinking to the bottom and churning up the mud as much as I can, primed to feel for skin or hair or those golden angel wings he was wearing. I stay under the surface for as long as I can, until my lungs are screaming. I burst through the water to screams of Felix’s name. I take a few breaths, and blink open my eyes. On the balcony, a figure in a red dressing robe, the kind Felix wears to breakfast sometimes, stands, surveying the chaos. For a moment, my heart leaps and I think it’s him, but then I really look, and he’s too short, his hair too dark.
It’s only Oliver.
I take another deep breath, and sink back down beneath the lake, blindly searching for anything that could be Felix.
This time, when I come up for air, all I hear is a blood-curdling scream.
As fast as I can, I swim back to shore, and haul myself out of the lake, sprinting after Farleigh and Venetia as they take off towards the maze, following the sound of the scream. Something is terribly wrong.
I don’t think I’ve ever run as fast as I am now, tearing after Venetia, having overtaken Farleigh easily. I don’t know the maze, but she does, and it isn’t long until path opens up into the center, the minotaur staring down at us as we stumble to a stop.
I see Elspeth first. Her face is devoid of color, gaunt and drawn. She looks like she’s about to vomit, or cry, or both. She doesn’t even seem so see us as we arrive, even though we run right past her.
In front of me, Venetia stops so suddenly that I almost run into her, her gaze cast down. For a moment, she’s frozen, and then she sobs, collapsing. On instinct, I grab her before she can hit the ground, and follow her gaze.
Felix, face down on the ground, his angel wings still on. I’ve never seen a dead body before, so I’ve got nothing to compare him to, but somehow I still know he’s dead.
Farleigh stumbles in after us. “Oh my god.” He chokes.
Venetia clutches at my arms as she sobs, nails ripping into my skin. I can’t feel it. I don’t care.
James staggers in next, shadowed by Oliver, still in Felix’s robe. I can’t bring myself to look at their faces as they take in the scene.
James is the first one to touch the body, laying a hand on Felix’s shoulder. “Darling, darling boy. My darling boy.” He turns to look at Oliver and Farleigh. “Help me move him. We need to get him inside. Get him warm.”
Venetia’s sobbing so hard that she’s hardly breathing, only taking big lungfuls of air every thirty seconds so she can keep crying. I hold her as best as I can, despite my urge to vomit as I watch James try to lift the body by himself.
“We just need to get him warmed up.” He continues, matter of fact. “Felix, darling, where's your jumper?.. Where's your jumper?” He looks back to Oliver. “Come on now! Help me!”
Farleigh sounds utterly broken. “I don't think we can move him, James. I think the police-”
Elspeth finally moves, running her hands along the sides of her legs. “Yes. Yes. Come away, darling… It's nearly lunch.”
In a trance, James backs away. “Yes. Lunch.”
I get a look at the body - Felix’s - face as he moves away. It doesn’t look like Felix.

Attention everyone! I am proud to announce that chapter seven has been completed, and with that here it is!
Six Times Twilight Knight Was There For His Siblings (and one time they were there for them)
I hope you enjoy :]
There was an air of disbelief after Fylass and Selene had watched their brother shatter every lightbulb in the hallway and then jump out of the window.
Twilight Knight was calm, cool, collected, and only ever had outbursts of rage when someone was threatening their siblings.
Neither of them had ever seen him that afraid.
“Am I dreaming or did that really happen?” The white furred astral asked, breaking the silence.
Fylass sighed, “no, Selene. It’d be pretty weird if we were having the exact same dream.”
The two kept looking at the scene before them, the glass sparkled in the moonlight like stars that had fallen out of the sky. The chimera shivered at the sight of the shards of glass, as memories of a wonderland rose to the surface.
From behind the two, thunderous footsteps came down the hallway.
“What’s going on here?! Is everyone okay? Wher- WHY’S THERE SO MUCH GLASS ON THE FLOOR?!” Bandana Waddle Dee exclaimed, their spear held firm.
Fylass looked at them, unsure of how they were going to explain everything that happened. “Alright, this is going to sound crazy, but-”
“TK jumped through the window.” Selene interrupted.
The hallway grew quiet, “they did what now?” The Waddle Dee asked in a small voice.
“He looked terrified,” the chimera explained, “and I think they thought we were someone else. He also called me ‘Estelle’ for some reason? No idea who they are…”
Bandee thought for a moment, going over the information in their head. “Ok, it sounds like TK’s not in their right mind, and he was scared and probably doesn’t have a plan on where to go.” They thought aloud.
“They probably want to get as far away as he can.” Fylass interjected.
Bandana continued, “the only things that’s out that direction is Cookie Country, Wispy’s Forest, and Orange Ocean.”
The last location that Bandana said sent off bells in Selene’s head, “TK loves the ocean! Maybe he’s going there?”
“That’s a possibility,” the Waddle Dee told her, “but we don’t know for sure, and the last thing that we need is to go the wrong way.”
“What about Dolly?” Fylass asked.
Their siblings looked at them odd for a second, “what about Dolly?”
A second later Selene realized what the chimera had meant, “oh yeah! She lives near Wispy’s Forest, she could tell us if Twi passes by!”
“I’ll call her right now!” Fylass said, fiddling with their phone.
While they called their sister, Selene wondered aloud, “should we tell Dedede and Meta about this?”
Bandana Waddle Dee sighed, “the last thing that TK’d want is to have everyone know about this, but…”
The astral nodded knowingly.
“Alright! Dolly’s gonna be on the lookout.” Fylass told them, joining back into the conversation.
And with that, the room fell into an uncomfortable silence. Which allowed the chimera’s mind to wander to the infinite expanse of ‘what if’s.
What if Twilight Knight gets hurt?
What if they never find him?
What if- ‘deep breaths, Fylass. Calm down.’ They remind themself. ‘it’s all going to be fine’, they told themself.
“I think we should get Kirby.” Bandana Dee told the two, breaking the silence like glass.
The white furred astral nodded, “yeah, that’s probably a good idea. The Warp Star could get us to wherever they’ve gone pretty fast.”
Though before the trio began going towards Kirby’s house, Fylass went back into the room that they’d all fallen asleep in, and picked up the knight’s mask.
Now seeing the mask up close, they now could see that it wasn’t as pristine as they once thought it to be. It was covered in scratches and had what almost looked like marks of a sword going across it.
“Fy, come on! We gotta go!” Someone called from the hallway. Realizing that they’d been looking at the mask for a minute, Fylass put it to their side and the three went off towards the Hero of Popstar’s house.
                        —————————
Gentle clouds drifted across the nighttime landscape, casting shadows where the crescent moon’s light shone just moments before. The Blippers that swam up and down the streams, now slept at the bottom of the river. And after a long day of soaring through the skies, the Birdons now huddled together in trees for some much needed rest.
It seemed that all of Popstar grew calmer under the light of the moon.
All except for the knight barreling through the skies as fast as their wings could take him.
Every coherent thought in their head was screaming at him to keep going, to keep running, to not let her hurt them again.
Below him, the plains that they’d been flying over had begun to morph into a dense forest in almost the blink of an eye. Normally he could tell where they were just by the landscape, but through the haziness that clouded his mind, it seemed like an impossible task.
In the distance, the sound of the sea’s waves breaking on the waves drew them in like a moth to a flame.
The sea always brought back memories of…a lot of things.
“No. Now is not the time.” He snarled to themself. The last thing that the knight needed was to get sentimental about his childhood.
But still the memories kept flowing like a flooded river, carrying the debris of a person that they barely knew.
“That home was a prison- I’m never going back.”
While his mind fought a war against itself, the knight hadn't noticed that while their body had been in autopilot, he’d flown towards the ocean.
The tree line thinned as a sheer cliff face had developed, leaving a small patch of flowers to prosper where the oak trees couldn’t. The moonlight glistened on the surface of the water, cutting through the gloom of night.
After being silenced for so long, their body finally spoke up, professing its fatigue before giving up and landing on an innocent patch of flowers.
Despite the storm of emotion in his mind, Twilight Knight’s thoughts somehow cleared enough to admire the beauty of the night- or at least the beauty that they thought he was seeing, it was hard to tell-. If they weren’t running from Estelle, he would probably take a picture of this for Sailor- she was always painting the most beautiful landscapes and maybe they’d like this one.
From behind them, he could hear the grass rustle, like someone was moving through it, and of course this only meant one thing.
“Estelle…” her name came out without them noticing.
His mother’s voice sounded like the hiss of steam, “oh Lycia I’ve been worried sick about you.” They shuddered when hearing his old name, “I was so happy when I found you! Your little mentor has been…devastated since you never came home.”
The knight’s eyes grew wide, they missed Nicova with all of his heart, but they just….didn’t have it in him to go see their mentor.
Was he really all that upset over him?
“You know, I was actually not that surprised when I heard that you changed identity again.” Estelle started back up again, “Lycia, Lycio, Twilight Knight? Which name are you going by next?”
Her words cut deep.
“It’s true,” her voice felt like it was all around them. “You reinvent yourself every time something goes wrong. Leave behind your identity, and get a new one. Seriously, Moonflower, how many masks are you going to wear before you’re satisfied?”
Fear took over his mind, petrifying the knight where they stood, and suddenly every moment that they tried to forget, was replaying itself again.
He could feel the bruise on their paw that stayed for weeks, he could feel her cold eyes gaze over them while her yells hurt his antennae, they could feel the blood dripping down the side of his face after she’d torn through their skin with her claws.
Twilight Knight’s instincts kicked in, and the next time he opened their eyes, a hemisphere of darkness had formed around him protecting them from Estelle.
Thought still, he could feel her emerald eyes staring at them like an animal.
Panic built in his chest, their breathing became frantic, the shadows around him were closing in. They couldn’t calm himself, everything was crashing down around them- it felt like he was dying.
‘You are dying, this is it.’ Their mind told him. “The butterflies aren’t going to be there. There’s only silence waiting for you.”
“Fy, Selene, Dolly, Kirbs, Bandana, Sailor…” They muttered out into his self-made darkness, “I’m sorry.”
                       —————————
As everyone across Popstar -and the rest of Gamble Galaxy for that matter- knew, Kirby was known for three main things; eating, protecting the galaxy from intergalactic threats, and sleeping
Which meant that when Bandana, Selene, and Fylass saw the light of the hero of dreamland’s house on, they were rightfully surprised.
The trio approached the off-white house, and knocked on the door.
After a minute, the pink astral answered the door, “Hi!” Kirby greeted them with their usual excitement.
Despite the varying levels of anxiety of the group, none of them could resist showing Kirby a little smile.
“Heya Kirbs,” Bandee started, “so listen, there’s a lot going on right now, and we need to borrow the Warp Star.”
The astral looked at the group for a moment, “TK poyo..?” Kirby asked.
Fylass nodded, somewhat understanding what they were saying, “we don’t know what’s going on with them…but it’s going to be ok!” They admitted, half to Kirby and half to themself.
A hopeful look crossed the astral’s face, and a second later -from seemingly nowhere- the Warp Star appeared in all of its shining glory.
Selene threw her paw around her sibling in a half-hug, “Thanks a lot, Kirbs! We definitely owe you big time now!” and a second later, Kirby hugged her back.
Though as they watched the scene play out, Fylass realized that their phone had been ringing.
As fast as they could, the chimera answered the call. “Dolly!” Fylass blurted out, “did you see TK?!”
“Yeah! Dolly saw them fly over her house!” Dolly exclaimed.
Selene interjected, “he’s going to Orange Ocean then!”
While normally, Fylass would’ve been relieved to hear that they were ok, they knew that this was only half of the battle.
“Thanks Dolly, you're the best.”
Though before they could hang up the call, Dolly asked in a much quieter voice, “is TK going to be ok?”
Fylass was quiet as they thought over how they should answer her. They hated the thought of lying to their sister, but the truth also wasn’t going to be pretty.
“Thanks to you, he’s going to be fine I’m sure.” the chimera told Dolly.
A moment later the call ended, and Fylass joined Bandee and Selene on the Warp Star.
Selene and Fylass hung onto the star as it lifted into the air, it moved with such speed that the two thought that they’d fall off at every little moment.
Though as soon as they’d overcome the fear, the chimera looked out over the moonlit landscape of Dreamland. However there wasn’t time to take in the
beauty, they had to get to Orange Ocean quickly.
“How are we gonna see him from all the way up here?” Selene asked.
Bandana kept their eyes to the ground, “keep an eye out for light or weird looking shadows, maybe they’re using his powers?”
Just ahead of the trio, the waters of Orange Ocean expanded as far as any of them could see. However there was no sign of Twilight Knight.
A pit opened up in the chimera’s heart, what if they’d been right, what if the knight was somewhere else, what if he was on the other side of Popstar at this point?
“Hey guys! Are you seeing that?” The white furred astral asked, pointing to a cliff that overlooked the ocean where a shadow swayed with seemingly nothing to cast it.
In an instant their hope had returned, “that has to be them!” The Warp Star pivoted and began moving towards the odd path of darkness.
The three siblings jumped off the magical star, and cautiously moved towards the hemisphere of shadows.
Bandana Dee reached into the darkness that moved and rippled like oil, and upon doing so, their orange fluffed up like they’d gone into a walk-in refrigerator.
Though when they did this, the shadows had dispelled and showed what it’d been protecting.
Upon seeing Twilight Knight, Fylass had to fight their imminent inclination to rush forward and hug their brother. However, Bandana Dee hadn’t done the same.
In a flash, the Waddle Dee had gone to the knight’s side and begun asking them all manner of questions.
“TK, WHAT HAPPENED?! ARE YOU OK? WHY DID YOU JUMP OUT OF THE WINDOW!?”
Though in response, all that the knight did was smile deliriously and laugh, “you talk real’funny mr butterfly…”
Bandee stepped back, “Selene,” they asked the astral, “how long has it been since he jumped out the window?”
Selene thought for a moment, “maybe an hour? Probably a little less though.”
Despite their limited expressions, both Selene and Fylass could see the look of concern on their face.
“What’s wrong?” The chimera asked nervously.
Bandana Dee sighed before walking towards their two siblings. “Ok, you both know that TK’s powers feed off of his emotions, right?”
Selene and Fylass nodded, “and they’ve probably been using his powers the whole time that we’ve been trying to find them.”
It took a moment for Selene to connect the pieces, but finally she spoke up. “So, since TK’s been using his powers for so long, they’re now super delirious..?”
The Waddle Dee nodded, “yeah that’s about it. Though we gotta figure out a way to get them back to Castle Dedede, the guy needs a doctor.”
“I could use my ESP and get them back that way. I’m pretty sure it could work.” Fylass offered.
However Bandee turned it down, “that could work, but TK’s in such a volatile emotional state- the last thing we need is them hurting himself or us.”
Fylass was taken aback by what the Waddle Dee had said. Though before they could say anything, the conversation had moved on.
“Maybe we could try talking to them? That’d probably calm him down.” Selene offered.
Bandana thought for a moment, until nodding, “yeah, I think that’s our best idea.”
The astral nodded, “alright, I’ll go first.” Selene said, looking back towards the knight.
“Hey Fylass,” their sister went on, “be ready to use your powers at any given point. I don’t know if he’s gonna try to fly or not.”
As slow and calm as she could, Selene approached Twilight Knight while Fylass hung back and had their ESP at the ready.
However, he didn’t seem to notice their sister.
The one-sided tension was fierce, but Selene was fiercer.
“TK, is everything alright? You kinda freaked out back at Castle Dedede.”
Finally, the knight acknowledged them, “huh..? Are’ya a ‘utterfly?” He slurred, now looking at their sister.
Selene was confused, “what are you talking about?”
“Well ya’ look’ike ‘em. What with’th wings an all…” he trailed off but came back a second later, “’specially the one in th’back, ya’ look lots’ike Moarin.”
Selene looked to Fylass and Bandana Waddle Dee for instruction, but neither of them knew what to do next. Though a second later, Fylass had an idea and began moving towards where Twilight Knight sat.
‘This better work.’ Fylass thought to themself, “greetings fair knight, it is I, the butterfly, Moarin. How have you been since we last spoke?” They asked putting on the most over dramatic accent they could manage.
“Oh heeeey Moarin,” he replied, seemingly believing the act. “I thought I was ne’vr gonna see ya’ again, evr’since ya cursed me!” The knight giggled, and everyone went silent.
All three of the siblings were stunned, and one collective thought ran through each of their minds; ‘what did they mean by that?”
Though, Fylass was the first one to ask, “Uh- remind me again, what exactly was that curse? It completely slipped my mind.”
Twilight Knight laughed, “you don’t rememb’r? You an’ Morpho gave me ya’ power, an’ in return ya’ took away m’afterlife.”
In only one sentence, the situation went from bad to worse.
However, the astral kept talking, “tho’ I actually gotta t’ank you, I ended up meetin’ my siblin’s cause’a you.” A lopsided smile formed  across the knight’s face.
Choosing to carry on with the topic that he’d started on, Fylass began, “ah yes, your siblings. They’re very worried about you right now, you know. We- I mean they don’t know where you are and they don’t know if you’re ok.”
“I can’t go back- I don’t want ‘em to see m’weak.”
The act Fylass was keeping up had all but slipped in the moment, “you’re not weak though! You’re Twilight Knight, one of the strongest people that I kn- I mean they know!”
He looked down into the ocean, the jagged rocks that stuck out of the water reflecting in their eyes. And for a moment, Fylass thought they were going to do something really bad.
“I ’ad what they didn’t, I ’scaped when they couldn’t. I wanna b’strong for ’em, I wanna b’there for ‘em, I wanna b’what they need.” Twilight Knight said, small tears forming in the corners of their eyes.
“But some days,” the knight continued, “I can’t even b’there for myself. ‘M useless.”
For a minute, everything was quiet. The waves below them faded away, the gentle breeze had died, and Fylass had almost completely forgotten about Selene and Bandee who stood a ways away.
“You’re not useless, you never were, and you’re never going to be that way.” The chimera then sat down by Twilight Knight who kept their gaze fixed towards some point on the horizon.
The knight sighed, “I am ’ough, I’m makin’ everyone worry ’bout me right now. They all ’ave so many things that they’re still recoverin’ from. Ades, Dolly, Kirbs, Selene, Bandee, Sailor, and Fy all lived ’hrough so much worse than I’ve.”
The longer they went on, the more of the knight's speech became slurred. “An ’busive mom, dead dad, abandon’d bes’ friend? That’s nothin’.”
He laughed to themself through the tears as Fylass listened in silent shock, “‘Stelle was right ‘bout me, I only ever brin’ sadness and pain t’everyone. I let Dusk get ‘urt, I let my dad die, and now I’m makin’ all my siblin’s worry about my stupid problems-”
“Stop.” The chimera said, more as an order than anything else. “None of that was your fault. Whatever she said about you- Estelle wasn’t right, she was as wrong as anyone could be.”
A moment later, Selene stepped forward, “if anything, you’ve brought joy to our lives. I never thought that I’d ever have an older brother as great as you.”
“You’ve been there for us so many times,” Bandee began, now standing on the other side of the knight, “let us be there for you this time.”
For the first time of the night, Twilight Knight smiled a real smile, one not caused by delirious but one of happiness. “T’ank ya’guys…I think ’m…gonna take a nap now.”
And with that, the astral went slack and fell back onto the bed of flowers.
Once the high emotions that flooded the area had subsided, immediately the panic set in as Selene, Fylass, and Bandana Dee watched their brother pass out.
The Waddle Dee reached down to try and shake the knight awake, however they realized something that they hadn’t noticed. “Dear Nova, he's burning up! We gotta get them to a doctor right now.”
“How though? He can’t hang onto the Warp Star, and I don’t think we’re all gonna fit on there at once!” Selene spoke up, panic rising in her voice.
Thinking of any way to get them back Fylass thought aloud, “we could get on the Warp Star and I could use my ESP to carry them!”
“It’s gonna be a pretty long trip, and the last thing we need is for you to drain yourself and not be able to hold onto the Warp Star.” Bandee told them.
Anxiety plagued the white furred astral’s voice, “seriously- where’s the Halberd when you need it?!” She exclaimed to some invisible force.
“That’s actually a good idea! I’ll call Sailor right now!” Bandana Dee said, reaching underneath their royal blue bandana and taking out a phone.
However, before the Waddle Dee could dial their sister’s number, Fylass stopped them. “Bandee, I think that’s them.” The chimera said, pointing to a dot on the horizon that got bigger with each second.
                     —————————
The last thing that Twilight Knight could remember falling asleep on the couch with Fylass and Selene. Which somehow translated in them waking up in a hospital bed without his mask and a splitting headache.
In their drowsy and disoriented state, the knight’s mind was brought back to the last time he was in a room like this- the day after they’d defeated Nightmare.
For a second, he almost thought that they were back on that day. That the butterfly’s power was still fresh in his veins, and they were going to keep being a Star Warrior.
But of course, that hope was hit with reality when he remembered that they didn’t know his siblings back then, and the fight with Nightmare was…a good while ago.
They scanned the room looking for his mask, though it was nowhere to be seen. A moment later the door of the room opened, to the sight of two astrals, a living doll, two Waddle Dees, and a chimera.
“Excuse me! The patient is still recovering and isn’t accepting visitors at the moment!” A voice -who the knight assumed was a nurse- called from a ways away.
Upon hearing this, Twilight Knight chuckled, “I’m not accepting visitors? Now you’re just putting words in my mouth.”
Realizing that he was awake, their siblings immediately rushed towards his bed with relieved smiles.
Somewhat unsure of how to respond they gave the best smile that he could manage. “Uh- hey guys! How’s everyone doing?”
A Waddle Dee in a sailor’s hat responded first, “obviously better than you- are you ok?”
“Yeah, I feel completely fine…am I…forgetting something?”
The room went quiet and Selene and Fylass shared a look. “Um, what exactly do you remember?” The chimera asked.
He thought for a moment, but could only recall bits and pieces of what happened yesterday.
“We had a sleepover, fell asleep on the couch watching movies, and…I had a really weird dream about a butterfly, I think?”
Their last comment garnered even more worried looks from Selene and Fylass -and this time even Bandee.
The knight sighed, “Fy, Selene, please tell me if I did something dumb. I have to know.”
“Are you really sure you wanna know?” The white furred astral asked, an awkward look going across her face.
After each moment, Twilight Knight grew even more anxious about what happened.
“Alright last night you-”
Dolly interrupted with her usual bubbliness, “Dolly heard you jumped through a window!”
The knight felt as though he could pass out again.
“…I what.”
Immediately Fylass began trying to explain what had happened, but it felt almost like they were…leaving out details? Though it was probably nothing, their mind assured him. But as the chimera went on, the knight found their attention grabbed by his youngest sibling, Kirby, who extended a flower towards them.
“Is this for me?” He asked, already knowing the answer.
Kirby nodded, and laid the flower on the bed.
They studied the sunflower for a minute, its golden petals had more color than anything else in the obnoxiously white room.
The knight pet Kirby’s pink fur as best as he could, making the rest of their siblings realize that he wasn’t paying much attention to what Fylass had been explaining.
However they didn’t seem to mind. From the doorway of the room, the nurse who everyone had completely forgotten about began speaking again.
“I’m sorry that I have to cut this reunion short, but I have to run a couple more tests and make sure that your brother is ready to go home. I’ll give you all a moment to say your goodbyes.”
A collective groan was let out from all other parties, but soon enough all of their siblings began telling him bye and leaving the room.
Characteristically, Fylass was the last to leave and had a sort of sad look in their ultramarine eyes that hurt them far more than jumping through a window ever could.
However before the chimera could go, the knight stopped them.
“Hey Fy, before you go I just wanna say that if I said anything weird or got super emotional, I didn’t mean it.” He chuckled to themself hoping to play it off like it was a joke, “I have no clue what my feverish brain could talk about and I’m really sorry if I said anything dumb.”
Fylass paused for a moment, that teary eyed version of their brother, the one who was more open about his past, the one that talked about their emotions.
Was that real?
Or was that all just the product of high emotions and a fever?
No matter what it was, Fylass didn’t care.
As fast as they could, the chimera rushed over to the knight and wrapped him in the biggest hug they could give.
“Twi, I’m so sorry for everything that happened to you.” They muttered into Twilight Knight’s navy blue fur.
The room went silent, but after a second the astral hugged back.
“Thank you, Fy.” He said, tears forming in their eyes, “I love you so much.”

Comparing Animorphs to Worm
The first comparison is my relation to the series. (Serieses? How do you pluralize that word?) I was obsessed with Animorphs in grade school, starting younger than my parents probably would have allowed if they were familiar with the books. (I knew the name "Scholastic" from these books before my first Scholastic book fair, which should tell you a lot, if kids these days still have Scholastic book fairs.) I was obsessed with Worm immediately before and during college, shaping the way I engage with fiction and fandom to this day.
That's one of the reasons I'm comparing the two series, but there are plenty of other comparisons. Their teenaged protagonists, their heavy subject matter, the stories framed in an almost YA format that slowly peels away like old paint over rusty metal, the planetary threats from outer space...
And of course, the characters.
The Heart
This might sound weird if you're used to the fanon versions of Cassie and Taylor—the former being a weak-willed hypocrite who's constantly whinging about whether they're doing the right thing, the latter being Chuck Norris if he was a war criminal and controlled bugs. But they're very similar characters.
Superficial stuff out of the way: They're both unpopular introverts with unusually strong connections to animals, and end up in a messy interracial relationship with their team leader.
Now onto their shared core. They both have a powerful moral compass, which slowly warps under the pressures of the violent plotlines they're involved in without completely vanishing—even when they commit acts of shocking brutality.
Cassie's character arc is relatively simple. She's reluctant to hurt anyone, even Yeerk soldiers and especially their Controllers. She's so reluctant that she leaves the team in the first third of the series. But she also comes up with a lot of really concerning ideas for the group, including David's fate (I'll come back to this).
As for Taylor? She starts out joining a villain team to help the local superheroes, and becomes the voice of caution and moderation pretty much immediately. She also comes up with some pretty brutal ideas for the Undersiders, albeit mostly ones she implements herself.
As far as this aspect of their characterization goes, the big differences is where their moral compasses go in the end. Cassie becomes more comfortable with the moral compromises required by war, but not completely comfortable. She's always at least a devil's advocate, but she doesn't start arguments every time the animorphs need to premeditate their violence.
On the other hand, Taylor falls face-first into moral decay, whittling away at her moral beliefs until she finds the unbending core that she refuses to compromise. And a big part of that is critiquing inaction as strongly as action. People who could have stopped something but chose not to are as culpable as people who actively choose to cause it. That's part of why Taylor is as ruthless as she is, in the "seeing the bright clear line that goes from motive to means" sense.
Both of them also have strong self-sacrificial tendencies. Taylor's are front and center (our girl is practically jumping at martyrdom from her first night in costume) but Cassie is also willing to sacrifice herself for her beliefs. She traps herself in caterpillar morph to prove her conviction to a Yeerk, which is a pretty serious sacrifice since she didn't know she could demorph after metamorphosis. (...yeah, for all its darkness, Animorphs is still a YA series.)
Oh, and they also have a strong friendship with the team's pretty blonde extrovert and its violent butch bitch. But for Cassie, they're the same person.
The Big Guy
Rachel and Rachel are both the most violent members of their teams, but their arcs go in different directions.
Rachel Berenson started as the pretty popular mall-loving cheerleader gymnast type, but started sliding into blood knight territory as she adapted to the war.
Rachel Lindt, on the other hand, starts out antisocial and violent, and she only starts getting friends and finding a more comfortable, less violent life after meeting Taylor (and, to an extent, the other Undersiders). Rachel climbed out of the pit that swallowed Rachel whole.
This comparison is a pretty obvious one...probably the only obvious one.
The Leader
We're getting to the part where it's hard to compare Animorphs to Undersiders; I don't think I have any substantive comparisons to make between the other halves of their team. (You could make comparisons between Marco and Lisa, or maybe Alec or Aisha or Taylor; Tobias turning into a bird is kinda like Taylor's cape escapism but they go different directions; and Ax is too literally alien to have a clean parallel with the earthly Undersiders, except maybe Alec.)
But I think there's something between Jake and Brian, beyond their shared status. For starters, neither one wants to be a leader. Jake chafes at the title of Prince, and Brian stubbornly refuses to take sole responsibility for the Undersiders. In both cases, this flattens their team's hierarchy. Jake and Brian help set the agenda and direct discussions, but they don't force their will on the group if they can avoid it.
They also care strongly about their family, especially their siblings, Tom and Aisha. They're putting their lives in danger in large part for those siblings—rather more directly for Jake, whose brother has a Yeerk in his brain, but Brian explicitly says he became a supervillain to provide for his kid sister. (Which is a lot funnier from an outside perspective, since both of their parents are alive.)
The big differences are age (Jake is 13-16; Brian is 17-18 pre-timeskip) and the scope of what they care about. Brian is very clear; he cares about his family, he cares about his friends, but the rest of the world can sort itself out. Jake, on the other hand, knows he's on a mission to save the world and acts accordingly.
But if Brian was a few years less jaded, and given the nearly sole mandate to defeat a threat to the entire human race...I think he could end up a lot like Jake. War crimes and all.
The Traitor
David and Cherish were both trapped just offshore by the team they betrayed, and their screams can sometimes be heard by people on the shore.
David's fate is a bit less nightmarish (he's a rat on an island instead of a brain in a box) and his screams are less deadly, but the fact that I'm comparing something the Animorphs did to something the Slaughterhouse Nine did should indicate how dark the books can get when they aren't engaging in instant maple-ginger oatmeal shenanigans.
If I reread the series, I could probably come up with more comparisons. But for one Tumblr post, I think this is enough.

What're Loona, Striker, and Stella like in the Kindergarten AU?
Thank you for the ask @welcome-to-hotel-california !
it makes me really happy to see people are still interested in the Hazbindergarten AU even after I kinda let it go dormant for so long!
Second up I’m really glad you asked about Stella & Striker, because that lets me bring up an idea I’d been thinking of for a while! (that’s why it’s so long and why it took me so long to reply, I had a lot of ideas but it took a while to get them typed up):
So I was trying to think of a way to incorporate Adam and Lute and I thought maybe they could be the teachers of a different classroom within the school, maybe one that doesn’t deal with “problem” students like the ones Charlie and Vaggie oversee, and that would include characters who wouldn’t fit in as well/don’t have a major enough role to fit into the Hazbindergarten setting while still letting them have a role or cameo in the series.
Stella I think would be in Adam’s classroom, but she would know Stolas from her parents and his parents doing a lot of business together and they have “playdates” outside of school (heavily implied to be build-up for an arranged marriage. She initially has a crush on him, but the more she’s pushed into their courtship the more their dynamic warps into a controlling, bullying dynamic on her part. She frequently tries to force Stolas to play house with her, and to go around with her on the playground at school recess, and he understandably absolutely hates it. For a long time Stella is the only kid Stolas ever really gets to be around outside of his much older siblings who barely tolerate him, but once Stolas joins Charlie’s class and is able to interact with Blitz he becomes more able to stand up to her behavior. For a while she bribes Striker with some of her lunch to make Stolas play with her instead of Blitz, but her teachers eventually put a stop to it when they catch Striker and Blitz fighting because of it. Unlike in the actual show, I think Stella could have her behaviors addressed and go on to develop some genuine friendships with other characters (maybe even eventually Stolas) once she’s able to understand that it’s wrong for almost most of the adults in her life to be so insistent that she form a connection with this other young child who doesn’t seem to want to be around her and for her to be punished when she “fails” at that. She still needs to amend her behavior, but she doesn’t have that same degree of calculated cognition canon Stella has.
.
Since Loona is Blitz’s kid in the real show I initially wasn’t planning on incorporating her or Vee, but picturing Blitz & Stolas playing house together I thought it could be cute if they always have a wolf and an owl plush that they pretend are their kids, and later on in the last episode of the series is a time jump that shows Blitz and Stolas dropping off their kids on the first day of school and it’s two daughters that are very obviously versions of Loona and Vee.
Striker would be one of Adam’s students at first, but eventually has to be transferred to Charlie’s class. He’s one of Adam’s few lower income students and he clearly has some at-home issues, such as often “forgetting” his lunch or periodically missing school for a few days with little explanation given. He lives in a rural part of town with his great uncle, the local sheriff’s brother, because he was supposedly the result of an affair one of his parents had.  After one of the aforementioned absences he begins to develop severe mood swings, swearing, paranoia, and seemingly random severe behavioral episodes (which are later revealed to be frontal lobe seizures). The closest thing to an explanation of what happened Charlie or Adam ever get is that there was an accident of some sort out on the farm and that the sheriff “handled things” afterwards.  Striker has a lot of trouble adjusting to Charlie’s classroom at first, behaving aggressively and stirring up the other students, but he does eventually settle in as he comes to appreciate the fact that on the whole he can relate to his new classmates’ more than he could with the kids in the first classroom, that he can still play with Stella at recess, and that he isn’t having to struggle as hard to keep up when he misses school. He warms up to Vaggie much faster than to Charlie since he thinks that she’s cool for having so much military knowledge and she’s able to use this to curb some of his initial behavioral issues. His favorite parts of the day are music time, P.E, and snack time because now snacks are being provided in-class instead of only those packed from home.

78 Great Things in Ghosts of Illyria (Part 2)
Strange New Worlds | Children of the Comet | Ghosts of Illyria Part 1 & Part 2 | Memento Mori | Spock Amok | Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach | Serene Squall | The Elysian Kingdom | All Those Who Wander | A Quality of Mercy
Part One
40. And there's the first concrete clue about Number One's background and the fact that it is very secret - she does the wipe all cookies maneuver when she leaves the room
Enterprise hallways are NEVER empty which makes Number One's walk down to the transporter room extra creepy
i want to feel the radiance on my skin 😎
Hemmer, my man, what in the actual fuck. The planet's CORE?! Oh my god. Between him La'an 😂
Convenient plot phaser on the transporter console is convenient
Number One's badass walk down the hallway with Hemmer slung over her shoulder like a sack of Andorian potatoes
"I am arming us with knowledge."
Plasma Illyrian Circle of Friendship is the quickest way to ride out an ion storm in an insufficiently shielded library
Number One revealing her secret to M'Benga and Chapel is such a great scene. I love how M'Benga is initially suspicious and frustrated and sympathetic all at once and Chapel just takes it in stride and is like how do we make this work and Number One is crestfallen that she can't help her crewmates
Also Chapel being like how dare you suggest I quote Starfleet regulations at you, sir, in the middle of a medical crisis
La'An rising up from the biobed behind Chapel is so eerie - I feel like she would be the type to wake up during surgery
"You're a Starfleet doctor. There's always something."
"Starfleet is right about a lot of things, but not all of them. Not about us." 😭
The look of shame on her face when M'Benga is talking about prejudices and how she can't help but he would beg her if she could 😭😭😭
The ship recommending the warp containment field be reactivated. Like if anyone has time. Probably a good idea. If you want to, you know.
Number One being like ffs when the computer alerts about the containment field
Holy shit the first officer and chief of security are having a knockdown drag out in Engineering and they are both FEROCIOUS damn no thank you I will not be sparring with either of them
Gosh just A+ acting when La'An confronts Number One about being Illyrian
Number One's genetic modification CURES RADIATION AND CAN PASS ON TO ANOTHER PERSON 👀👀👀 (who else do I know who will be subjected to a large dose of radiation in the future?)
Creepy Illyrian library is creepy when another archive tube pops out at just the right moment
"La'An tried to jump into the warp core while the containment field was down," she said, like it was no big deal. 😂
Chapel being EXCELLENT at her job 😁
Ugh, that moment when Number One enters the ten forward room but before she reaches La'An's table she pauses and you can see she's visibly nervous and a little scared, but then by the time she sits down with La'An she's got the professional work shield and the professional friend shield back up
The lighting in this scene is also fantastic with the storm outside the window and the light from the center of the table illuminating their faces as they have one of the hardest conversations they've ever had as friends
Man, I really get the sense that Number One misses home as she's talking about how her people are different from Earth's augments.
"All I ever wanted, since I first saw the stars, was to join Starfleet"
Strawberries are their comfort food ♥
The mildly concerned but mostly curious look on Pike's face as Number One is confessing in the ready room. They're both so formal here at the beginning, with his hands on the desk and her standing at attention.
The way Pike's body language changes after she admits she is an Illyrian. He leans back, like he's disengaging from her, putting distance between them, (augment, monster), but it's actually because he's no longer worried about what she might say, he can stand down
The utter sincerity in her voice as she asks for her desire to join Starfleet be considered when going before the disciplinary panel
"I don't care where you come from. You're the best first officer in the fleet."
And here Pike leans forward again, but not back into the formal hands clasped on the table. He's got like his elbows on his knees and is looking up at her as she's looking down on him as he's like you're amazing, don't worry about anything and she's like I broke seven Federation laws just by waking up this morning, you walnut and it's great, that's the relationship
okay but her little pleased but don't show him how pleased she is at his defense of her smile
Bahahaha when Pike says before you go and she whips around with this look on her face like I knew it or maybe something else but it's just like, let's not forget to get that bug patched in the transporters and then she just slips back into command mode and is like yes, sir, that is absolutely a Thing I Can Handle
And now it's M'Benga's turn to confess to a stone cold Number One, and ugh, man, is that a whopper of a confession. And the parallel between their situations is really nice, too. They both admit to breaking regulations and both are told by their superior officers to screw regulations. Great acting.
M'Benga and Rukiya are so cute together. He's trying to so hard to walk the line between being a good dad and a good doctor.
Number One's happy little smile when she talks about Pike defending her and then the crushing fear that if she wasn't "one of the good ones" he wouldn't have been so quick to defend her, if he and Spock had returned to the ship to find everyone except her dead or incapacitated, would he still like her for being her? And she's right. She was right back in the ready room, too, when she said she was just doing her job because that's 100% true. But Pike is also right to an extent because according to the Federation in general it's implied they don't think an Illyrian would have just done their job in that crisis.
"Computer, delete log entry." Say it with me, kids, personal logs (cough blogs, social media cough) are not truly private.

Hi-Ho, to the Dungeons We Go!
[Inspired by @monsoon-of-art‘s Pokerus AU]
The Dewott sighed, running a paw over her face. “Alright, well… as much as I’m not ready to lead a mission yet, it seems like I’ve got no real choice…”
“Really? I’d have never thought.” Rei scoffed, crossing his arms as his cheeks sparked (STILL a weird feeling). He’d been…volunteered…to go with the newcomer into this “Mystery Dungeon”, seeing as Captain Cyllene was busy, Professor Laventon was recovering, and the other Survey Corps members were…Well.
What other members? After the rifts started changing people, much of the Survey Corps switched to a different field, the general idea being that it wasn’t a good idea to do much exploring in unfamiliar bodies. The Fieldlands being struck by lightning and turning into a weird space-within-a-space only drove the rest of them off.
All in all, it was just the three of them left… Maybe they could count Akari as a member later. This is the closest they’ve done to actually doing Survey Corps work in the past month, so it made sense.
The now-a-Pikachu still wished that Akari hadn’t just grabbed him and left instead of taking his “partner”...who was too busy scavenging for food or something, no doubt. Hey, the electric rodent wasn’t there, but… she could’ve stopped to wait and let him explain!
Well, it’d be pointless to turn back now…Almighty Sinnoh this is a WEIRD feeling! The world swam around the poor ‘chu briefly, his body feeling like it was distorting with the warping setting before everything snapped back into place, the somewhat familiar terrain of the Fieldlands before him.
“Ah, right, it’s your first time going into one of these… yeah, entering a Mystery Dungeon is…weird. You get used to it eventually, but…” The Dewott shrugged as Rei stared at her. You got used to that sensation?
…Sinnoh above, what had he gotten himself into?
—--
Akari just sighed, rolling her shoulders as she drew her scallops. “Right, well… we don’t know what Ability you have, or moves you know… thought you’d have done some testing, but alright.” Rei just tilted his head before glowering a bit. Akari backpedaled at the stare. “S-sorry, I forgot that you’re still adjusting…erm. Anyways… we were wanting to stick together anyways, so that won’t be an issue… we don’t know what floor Lian or Mr. Kleavor might be on, hopefully it won’t be too far in. For fighting… I guess do what you can, I’ll clean up the rest?”
“...sure? I…ok?”
A sigh. He’s greener than she ever was… why couldn’t one of the evolved, and probably more skilled, Pokémon come with her instead? Adjusting or no, they were probably more capable being evolved, and at the least it’d be more firepower. Well, if wishes were fishes she’d have a feast. “Alright… OH! Let me know if you think you’re about to Faint. I’ve got Berries on me, and I was lucky enough to be carrying a couple spare Escape Orbs on me when I fell. That means we’ve got a quick out… and if we’re lucky we might find some more in here. I’d rather not use them without finding more, but I don’t want you to lose out on any Experience from this.”
Another confused look on the Electric-type’s muzzle led Akari to sigh. Again. “Right, well, let’s just go…”
—---
They haden’t taken but 5 steps before a wild Zubat zipped from the trees, crying bloody murder. Rei jumped back, hat falling off in shock, but before he could get it back on Akari had taken her shells and sliced at the ‘bat’s wings, sending it to the ground with a *THUD!*
“W-what…”
“C’mon, you can’t be THAT new to battling, right? I mean, I guess you wouldn’t know that the Dungeons seem to heal the wilds in them, but… oh let’s just keep going!” The group’s “leader” ran forwards, shells a blur as Rei just stared. This girl… was human, right?
Because if not, he’d been honest-to-Sinnoh considering letting an actual Pokémon join the Survey Corps. And that was…not a comfortable thought. “Rei? C’mon, I found the stairs!” Stairs? Sure, stairs. In the Fieldlands. He’d take it over debating Akari’s humanity. Up and running over on 2 legs, Rei ignored the Look he was getting from the otter-like ‘mon. No, he was NOT going to consider that. Why the hell would a Pokémon be wearing a hat and bandana anyways? Especially one with that weird egg-shaped badge? Let’s just stay upright for now please and thank you.
——-
After the second flight of stairs (Seriously, how in Sinnoh did STAIRS get here) he found himself stopped by a blue-furred arm. “Shhhh…”
Moving a bit to peek, the ‘chu stared at the sight before him as Akari continued. “I’ve never seen a Sligoo like that (Wait, seriously??), but if it’s like any other kind then it relies mostly on sound…” The rest of Akari’s message was tuned out as his eyes found one particular thing in the room - a slightly goopy wide-brimmed hat.
“That…that means... LIAN!” Rei rushed forwards, not even noticing he’d gone to all fours (or Akari’s startled yelp and “Wait!”) as he dashed closer to the poor young Warden. He was even looking their way, mouth open! Oh, he was waiting on them but it’d been so long he’d given up hope…the blindness probably didn’t hel-
Wait, what was that in his mouth? It looked like… “GAH!!!”
The ‘chu cried out as he was shoved back by the Water Gun, tumbling head-over-heels until he hit the wall. His companion just sighed, readying her shells. “Didn’t you hear me? Most ‘mon who stay in a Mystery Dungeon go mad. I don’t know why you rushed in like that, but now he knows we’re here… and we’re going to have to deal with him to keep going.” And with that, she rushed in, dodging attacks left and right as Rei looked on in horror. She didn’t realize…he had to say something!
“STOP! That’s Lian!”

Perhaps one of the more insidious and disturbing aspects of the children 's trip through Philip's mind palace is that, though his attacks on them at the end have the connotations of them being 'punished' for looking where they weren't supposed to, everything they learned about was Philip's fault. Not only did his inner self meet them before they ever penetrated his inner layers, and thus could have lead them away from the incriminating memories, but he actively lead them to memories that showcased his true vile nature, demonstrating the lengths he's willing to go to to 'protect humanity', and his inner self giving a gleeful child's laugh over the memory of those witches freezing to death shows he not only had no shame about his deeds, he's actively proud of them, seeing them as 'victories against evil' and something to be celebrated.
Him confronting both Hunter and luz with the awful truths of the past and what their connection to him really is can be seen as a necessary test of character for both of them. If Hunter is willing to unquestionably supporting still even after all this, then he really is the 'better version ' of Wittebro he's been seeking, and he won't have to kill him. Likewise, as luz is another genuine human from earth and aided him once before, he talks to her with unabashed honesty for his usual manner, being blunt and forthright with everything he's really about and his intentions towards the boiling isles, save the truth about who Wittebro was and what he meant to him - that bit of personal history is one he's literally committed lifetimes to erasing in favour of what he wants the truth to be. If luz is willing to support his plans as a fellow human, then he can spare her too - and he really does believe that she'd support him because they're the same species alone together in a world of 'monsters'. In some twisted way, Philip wants to brag about his murders of witches and be accepted because of that, not rejected like any same person would.
Alternatively, another warped perspective is that, just like his brother, his 'better than you' mentality means he needs to have a reason to kill them, something that he can use to justify it to himself as 'regrettable, but necessary '. He jumps way too quickly towards trying to kill Hunter for his 'disobedience', to the point of it implying that part of him has given up on the idea of a grimwalker ever truely joining him, but keeps the process going out of sheer stubbornness and an inability to ever accept he could be wrong. The manner of death he chose for the youngest grimwalker is even a cruel inversion of the birth of a grimwalker, furthering the collector's assertion that he enjoys killing them and recreates his brothers brother's image to keep relishing his enjoyment of that moment.
Luz meanwhile, has actively interfered with his plans before and made it clear she refuses to willingly aid him as belos, which grates against his control tendencies and desire to 'control' how humans interact with the inhabitants of the demon realm, aka, not at all. By confirming that she's already met his past self, she confirms the time loop is closed, and thus he no longer needs to hold back against her or her allies anymore. All it takes is her rejecting him again, and this time, he tries to do what he would have done to luz in the conformatorium the first time around if she didn't have that protection against his direct retribution.
Either way, Philip lead those children deeper into his mind and showed them his secrets, fully confident they'd never tell a soul about it one way or another, once their usefulness was served.
In Follies at the Coven Day Parade, Belos, through Terra, told Luz that he looked forward to meeting her. I believe that I speculated that he wanted to meet her for real, not as Emperor Belos, but as who he was behind that mask: Philip Wittebane.
With Elsewhere and Elsewhen confirming that Belos was Philip and that Luz (and also Lilith) met him during their time travel excursion, and Hollow Mind confirming that he knew about the time shenanigans, it could be seen more as a "Good luck on your trip through time."
But I still think that maybe Belos looked forward to meeting Luz again. Not just to confirm that she had completed the time loop and so he could eliminate her and the Owl House crew if need be. But also to, as you say, see if she may be willing to join his holy mission.
Of course, Luz, being closer in mindset to Wittebro (including getting herself an awesome witch girlfriend), does not join in on the crusade.
If you really think about it, Belos sensed a literal invasion of his mind and said "I can work with this." Not only did he use the kids to distract the palisman beast long enough to finally kill it and gain control of his transformations, but he also confirmed Hunter would no longer be loyal to him and nearly killed him.. and he confirmed that Luz the Human would not be joining him, and nearly had her killed as well. Sure, he only succeeded with one out of those three things, but still. Turning an invasion of your own mind to your advantage is impressive.

HIHI OK
da daveally minecraft lore :D
this is so insanely long i am so sorry oh my glob
(this is just touching the surface too crying)
ok !!
so, the start of the lore goes like this
john wants to play minecraft with his friends, he literally URGES them to play minecraft with him because he found like a cool server and he wants them all to join
(note: i so hate to admit this, but i was writing this and they are all like 10! uh, it makes me safer actually e)
ANYWAY!
john urges them and daves down, because im pretty sure he plays minecraft like his life depends on it. also the fact thats its something *else* than like every other skateboarding game around is probably another reason
jade complies and urges rose to join with, dave also urges her to join with because if not shes a killjoy and rose joins out of spite from that *alone*
they join the server and jade immediately jumps into the survival with john because they play the game legitimately for some reason or they follow the basic game rules and dave ends up in parkour central
(dave seems like the type to find parkour so fun but so bad at it that hes good)
rose follows with dave because she wants to see him literally suck at it
this sounds so ooc but i promise my brain knows everything and the fact rose would make snarky comments at how horrible dave is at literally jumping block to block that he has to tell her in like 20 words to shut up
now that you know what everyone would be doing (trust me that is important), dave would notice jade talking to someone (that someone is ally!) in the minecraft chat, of course he doesnt pay a lot of attention to it and jumping from block to block but he does get distracted halfway through their conversation from how they type! because of this, he messes up a thousand times.
jade then introduces ally to john and the trio begins talking in the mc chat. they talk about the server and everything and ally mentions the sever is very sweet!! the community is very nice :D cause shes been on it a lot longer than them (giggling, kicking my feet)
thennnnn john decides its best if ally meets dave and rose (a great idea!!!) and ally is super duper excited about it because shes making friends!! she tends to play on the server by herself without interacting with anyone, she has a few times, however, but they werent like.. Long Term Friends
anyway, jade warps back to spawn and john mentions it to ally and they both do the same. jade asks where dave and rose are, and rose mentions the parkour course since dave is far too distracted by the CHAT ALONE on his screen to even word things properly
i love the thought of him finding ally so unique even by just how she types?? that hes like unsure how to even WORD THINGS PROPERLYYYY???
or its me throwing in the fact that i love soulmates and them being soulmates makes me soft :(
continuing on
ally, jade, and john all reach where rose and dave are located.
rose introduces herself to ally, the two have a chat, and rose just feels like she has an intimidating aura with her at all times, so yes, ally is a bit wary of her and a little bit on edge with her because of how she acts and i swear john would definitely help to defuse that as well as jade! possibly.
HOWEVER ! this is a long waited thing to say:
dave is last for introductions. ally greets him sweetly and so upbeat! also, shes very excited to meet new friends, or at least she HOPES she can make these four her friends (spoiler: she does)
anyway, dave introduces himself after realising that ally is literally talking to him. the two actually have a really good interaction!!! of course they do duh!! she even mentions that this parkour course is really difficult for her (she has tried it numerous of times just because) and asked if he could help her with it (even though dave cannot do parkour while being distracted by a minecraft catgirl skin) (and yes allys skin is a mc catgirl skin)
dave, however agrees, because he will not take up the opportunity to say no (besides itll make them talk to each other a lot more!! and like get to know each other too!!)
also!!! i feel after that interaction, it makes dave seem a bit more excited to play minecraft with her or enter the server, because it means hell see her!! however, im pretty sure hed try to suppress that excitement though

Warped Tour Day One Part Two
After a few minutes Sarah was the first to spot the guys she speaks up saying, "Well looks like I found them." As was in the middle she couldn't exactly point so she nods her head and the others finally noticed looking over and sure enough there was the guys it looks like they're busy talking to another band that the girls recognised straight away it was their favourite band that they was hoping would be there and by luck they was, but their guy friends had their backs to them so they unlinked and slowly made their way to the guys, it didn't exactly take long Sarah jumped on Kellin's back thankfully he knew straight away and didn't drop her, then Anna-Marie jumped on Justin's back again he didn't drop her thankfully.
Then Jamie jumped on Nick's back and finally Skylar jumps on Matt's back thankfully none of them dropped the girls, of course the other band was confused but also found it a bit funny after a moment Sarah is the one to speak saying, "Hey guys sorry to interrupt but these guys was meant to meet us by the tour bus we waited twenty minutes, I even messaged you Kellin but didn't get a response." All the girls had got off from the boys, Kellin looks over at Sarah who's standing beside her putting an arm over her shoulder and says, "Yeah sorry about that was about to reply but bumped into some old friends and well lost track of time am I forgiven?"
Sarah puts her arm around his waist and he gives her those puppy dog eyes that he knows gets him out of trouble she sighs and says, "Well you know I can't stay made at you when you give your famous puppy dog eyes, so you are forgiven." He laughs and then speaks up again saying, "Well I have a feeling you know who these guys are because you girls practically listen to their music and I'm guessing that is what you guys did then?" Sarah laughs and says, "Well yeah of course but don't worry we listened to you guys as well plus me and Sky are wearing Sleeping with Siren shirts and wristbands along with Black Veil Brides and a few others."
Now and again Sarah couldn't help but stare at the lead singer of Black Veil Brides I mean come on who couldn't he's so adorable and of course now and again he would look over at her smiling, she smiled back then Kelli speaks up saying, "Alright I know you know you these guys are but I've gotta introduce you girls because they not being nasty have no idea who you so I will start first this is my bestie Sarah Addison, her older sister Anna-Marie, their best friends Jamie and Sky." All of the girls had suddenly gone shy but managed to wave their hands, the guys was all polite and said they Hello's.
Then Andy speaks up saying, "So what do you guys wanna do because I know you aren't due on stage until this evening and we're not due on until tomorrow?" It was Nick that speaks up and suggests, "Well was thinking maybe we could go and see what other bands/singers that are performing today could be interested?" So it was agreed they all decided to stay together even though Kellin and Sarah aren't dating sometimes they acted like they was but they both knew that neither had that kind of feelings towards each other and she linked arms with him and was up ahead.
After a little while of walking around of course both bands getting a lot of attention the girls completely understood and of course kept out of the way even now and again, they had seen a few bands perform and then they was watching another band perform, the girls went into pairs to start dancing and act silly so it was Sarah and Jamie, Sky and Anna-Marie the guys just watched them of course Kellin was recording the whole day for memories and entertainment of course the others would join in now and again having fun, laughing and joking sometimes there was a little bit of flirting between some members of Black Veil Brides and Sleeping with Sirens with their girls but it was harmless flirting nothing serious or so the girls thought.
It was finally time for SWS to perform on the big stage thankfully the girls and BVB was allowed on the side stage to watch them perform for half an hour it gave the girls plenty of time to get to know BVB of course Sarah ended up talking mostly with Andy and Jinxx whilst the other girls ended up talking mostly to Jake, CC and Ashley all ended up exchanging numbers, they would probably hang out in the SWS tour bus for a while seeing as it was already the end of day one of the warped tour, but to far the girls have had an amazing first day meeting a band that listen to and love so much, even getting their numbers to see new bands perform and of course their friends SWS perform right now.
After the guys had finished performed all of them headed back to Sleeping with Sirens tour bus, unfortunately the couch wasn't exactly big enough to hold everyone so how it went was some of the girls ended up sitting on some of the guys laps but it felt like a dream come true seeing as Sarah was sitting on Kellin lap for a bit but then he needed the toilet so she got up and then sat down but then Andy was sitting beside her on the arm of the chair looking a little uncomfortable so she speaks up saying, "Hey I know this is probably gonna sound weird because well we've just meet a few hours ago but that doesn't exactly look comfortable you wanna sit on the couch?"
At first he replies with, "I'm alright honestly plus it would be kind of rude for me to sit on the couch and where would you sit?" Everyone is too busy talking then Sarah suggests that, "Well you can seat on the sofa and I could sit on your lap, well that is if you are alright with that?" They both stare at each other for a moment until he replies with, "Yeah I mean if you are alright with that?" She laughs a little and says, "Yeah otherwise I wouldn't have suggested it." He laughs and takes her point so she gets up and moves so that he could seat down and then she sits on his lap and asks him, "I'm not hurting you am I?" He nods his head saying, "No You're alright, you are quite light to be far."
Sarah can't help but smile Kellin had come back sitting on the chair and he speaks up saying, "Alright why don't we watch some crypt keeper for a while?" They had all agreed so Kellin turns on the TV and starts the show from the beginning, Sarah gets a bit more comfortable of course Andy doesn't mind at all she puts her legs over the sofa leaning her head against his shoulder and he put one arm around her waist and the other on her lap, the guys ended up staying for a while and then around 11pm started getting ready to leave of course the girls hugged all the guys, last to hug was Andy and Sarah they both hugged for a bit longer but neither of them minded after the guys left, the girls was the first to change into their PJs and then the boys before everyone went to bed preparing for what lies tomorrow, Sarah was lying in bed getting ready to sleep when she received a text message from Andy saying, "I had a good evening just wanted to say sweet dreams and goodnight also see you tomorrow :)." Sarah couldn't help but smile and of course she replies back with, "I did too and same here, you will properly like my outfit for tomorrow seeing as you guys are performing sweet dreams and goodnight :)."

Alright, here it is: The meta post about Eddie Diaz and mother figures and how it all leads to Buddie (I think). Thanks to @yramesoruniverse for your help with this, and @kitkatpancakestack and @evanbucklies for inspiring it! I really have been thinking about this nonstop and had to get it all down. This got quite long, so I'll include a cut in order to spare everyone who doesn't want to continue reading!
We first get an idea of Eddie's complicated thoughts surrounding mother figures throughout his whole storyline with Shannon in season 2 when he romantically reconnects with her for Christopher's benefit. I do want to keep the focus here trained on Eddie in season 4, but I want to point out a season 2 line that is pretty fitting. As much as I don't want to use a Shannon quote as a starting point for a meta, I think this one is actually pretty useful: "...Eddie always knows what's best for everyone...God forbid you stop for a second and actually ask them what they need." While it's harsh and spoken out of spite, Shannon does make a point here which becomes relevant at the end of season 4.
We don't know a whole lot about season 4 Eddie (thanks writers) aside from the fact that he's working on being a single father (he tells Marjan in the crossover that he's "doing the whole single dad thing") and being a support system for Buck and the rest of the 118. Eddie's "arc" this season is moving on from Shannon and beginning to date again (a very small and limited arc, which hopefully season 5 will remedy). Of course, because it's Eddie, the core of this arc is him wanting what is best for Christopher. And it seems pretty clear that what Eddie thinks Chris needs is a complete family with a mother figure (note how he asks Bobby if he's "happy now, with Athena and the kids" and just assumes that Bobby is talking about Ana Flores), but the universe pushes against this idea throughout the whole season. There are a lot of examples in season 4 of unreliable mother figures (for example, the alcoholic mother who causes the wreck in Blindsided), but in order to save some space here, I'll list and discuss those in another post. The main thing I want to point out is that we've seen that mother figures aren't always perfect, and they aren't the end all be all that Eddie thinks. And canonically, the show suggests several times throughout the season that the partner that Eddie needs/wants and who is best for Chris is actually Buck.
In Breaking Point, while Eddie is on his date, it's Buck who is at home taking care of Christopher and getting him through his nighttime routine (which establishes that he knows the routine and has gotten Chris ready for bed before, hence the reference to his "cautionary tale"). On the date, when Ana says that no one has been in his life since Shannon passed away, Eddie noticeably looks uncomfortable (the will reveal makes this scene and that particular comment and Eddie's subsequent reaction so rich. Eddie knows that what Ana is saying is completely untrue, because the person he trusts most with his son is with him at that exact moment). Later, when Eddie tells Christopher about his new 'friend', he says "it's a woman." And...to be honest, what the hell was that? He could have said, "I'm dating someone" or "I have a girlfriend." But he says it like this? And it's weird...right? Christopher is the one who has to say "girlfriend." Also his tone of voice when he says it...it's suspicious to me. Anyways...Eddie talks with Ana about Christopher's reaction and her first instinct is to take a break and wait for Christopher to warm up to the idea so as to not cause him more pain. Meanwhile, Chris is out the door, in an Uber, and on his way to Buck, the person who actually gets Chris to talk about his feelings and who fixes the whole mess. So while Eddie is talking with Ana, Buck is playing a parental role AND promising Chris he isn't going anywhere, completely juxtaposing everything Ana has said and done in this episode (throwback to Fools, anyone?). Just like we see in 4x14, the perfect partner that Eddie is looking for is already putting in the work, no questions asked (and this is all before Buck knows about the will!). Yet Eddie is still trying to force it with Ana.
We see this again very briefly in Parenthood. Eddie and Buck are seen agreeing on parenting ideals on a call, similar to how we saw them work together in Future Tense to talk Chris out of playing video games. At the end of the episode however, when Chris asks to join the movie, Ana just jumps ahead and lets him in, not consulting with Eddie. Of course, this isn't a serious issue and Eddie is happy to have Chris join them, but it still carries on with juxtaposing Ana with Buck. It's also a bit interesting that Chris sits between them, parallel to the video game scene from season 3. But again, it's a very brief scene, so I don't know how much value it has overall.
We see all of this come to a head in 4x13 when Eddie becomes invested in the single mother and her son from the balcony call. Interestingly, this call happens after Eddie's conversation with Carla ("make sure you're following your heart"). On the call, Eddie flirts with the mom. This is interesting because we've seen many times in the past that Eddie...doesn't like flirting, especially on the job. Eddie openly flirting with the mom here may be his way of fighting against what his instincts are telling him Carla's comment was about (him liking Buck/a man). Eddie quickly becomes invested in Charlie (the son) and takes a liking to his mother because he relates to her. You can kind of see the gears working in Eddie's head when he's at their apartment...he's admiring her and perhaps maybe fantasizing about having a partner who gets it. And he sees a mother taking care of her son...reinforcing his love for the mother figure. But of course, we all learn by the end of the episode that this mother figure is extremely warped and not at all what her child needs.
The best part about this plot is the way it plays into the shooting scene at the end of the episode. Just before he gets shot, we see Eddie in an interesting framing choice (I am genuinely serious when I say that I want to sit down with Brenna Malloy and ask her about her directing choices for this whole scene):
The mother and son are placed into separate ambulances, and Eddie stands between the two vehicles. Visually, Eddie is literally placed between the mother figure and the son, and Buck is standing in front of him (at a slight distance). As (thank you to @kitkatpancakestack for pointing this out!) the ambulance with the mother drives away, Eddie says "shoulda gotten here sooner" to Buck (who replies, "That kid is just lucky he met you." He knows how to reassure Eddie and recognizes what is good for the child). Then of course, Eddie gets shot. But let's focus instead on why this framing before the shooting is important: the universe does scream, and it sure as hell was screaming at Eddie this whole episode. Carla calls him out for not following his heart, he idolizes this mother only for her to end up being horrid, then he gets shot with his partner standing right in front of him (you know, the same person who takes care of his son for the entirety of the next episode).
This can be read so plainly: Eddie has been fighting hard for what he thinks is best for his son, and he's stuck in this relationship with Ana because he thinks she is what will make Christopher happy. Meanwhile, Buck is in front of him and has been there the entire time putting in the work with Chris and making him feel heard, loved, and important. This ties right back to that Shannon line: if Eddie had simply asked Christopher what he needs/wants, it's very possible that his answer would be "Buck." Eddie doesn't need to be stuck in the middle of this relationship he doesn't care about because Chris' happiness is not dependent on having a mother figure.
Of course, we didn't see very much of Eddie in 4x14 so we don't really know what is going through his head regarding the shooting or Carla's comment just yet, but I'm hoping we see a lot of him working through all of the events that took place in 4x13/14 throughout next season. Because of the way the mother/son storyline ended up and the way they framed Eddie in the shooting scene, I'm willing to bet that he's going to be reevaluating just what Christopher needs and what he already has (with his Buck).
(Also side note--the welcome home party scene...when Buck is watching Eddie greet Christopher, notice the framing there too. The photo of Chris and Shannon is on the right side of the frame, Eddie and Chris in the middle, and Buck to the left. You already know what I'm going to say, so I'll leave it at that...)
Anyways. Edmundo Diaz is confused about what he and Christopher need, and it's actually a brilliant way to dive into a storyline about his sexuality and his feelings for Buck. Remember that post-finale interview with Tim where he said Eddie is always concerned with what's best for Christopher? That there will be a lot to explore with Eddie? I take everything Tim says with a grain of salt, but looking at all of this, there's quite a bit here pointing in the direction of pining Eddie. It's not wishful thinking, it's in the text.
I'm literally just applying basic film analysis to these scenes...and everything is adding up to a larger picture. I'm really excited to see what Eddie's arc in season 5 will be because there's so much set in place for it to be really great.

Welcome back for another comparison of the original Japanese text against the official English translations!
This month, there are only a few things that jumped out at me as odd or incorrect, so it should be a pretty quick one this time around.
So, let’s get cracking.
First, as I pointed out in the Lost in Translation for the first half of Ch. 88, the title of this chapter in English may be incorrect. For those of you that don’t want to click into that post, here’s that excerpt:
The actual title of Ch. 88 is 天地無用の女, which extremely literally translates to something like “Do-not-invert-heaven-and-earth woman.” This phrase, 天地無用 (tenchi muyou) is primarily used within the shipping and logistics industry in Japan, and is analogous to English’s “this side up” markings on packages. This is almost certainly how the translator at Yen Press got “Upright Girl;” in it’s usual context, that’s what 天地無用 means: this side up, keep upright, do not invert.
However, anyone who is familiar with the old “Tenchi Muyo!” anime or manga series likely knows that it can have another meaning: being in the way, being useless, and/or being of little importance. So, for part 1 of Ch. 88, a more accurate translation could very likely be “Unimportant Woman,” or, if we break the naming convention of the chapters a little bit, “A Woman of No Importance.”This makes sense as Mary is told she is “in the way” twice during this chapter.
I still stand by that translation over “Upright Girl,” though I will concede that the idea that Ririka, metaphorically speaking, shouldn’t be “inverted” or that she needs to be “kept upright” instead of, say, blended with Kirari, could be a reason to go with the “Upright Girl” title.
The most obvious moment that appeared to be turned into word salad in translation is when Ririka and Mary make their promise. This happens on neighboring pages, and this is the dialogue. I’ve bold italicized the parts that are particularly wrong.
The Mary’s English translation for these panels say: First panel: You want in? Uh, what? Look, don’t be ridiculous. We need to come up with a winning strategy... Second panel: This promise is going to be a “secret” just between you and me. Kirari Momobami plays no part in this, all right? If you join in, and wind up falling out...then I’m gonna drag you right back in!
What Mary actually says in Japanese is: First panel: 混ざる?何よソレ。無茶苦茶なこと言わないで。そんなことより勝っための作戦をー
Blend/Mix? What the hell is that? Don’t be absurd. I don’t care about that, I just want a plan to win...
Second panel: この約束は私とアンタ二人だけの「秘密」。そこに桃喰 綺羅莉いない。アンタが混ざっていなくなるというなら私が引き戻してやる!
This promise is a “secret” between you and me. Kirari Momobami is not involved in this. If you are going to get mixed up/become blended and disappear...I’ll pull you back out!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It should be pretty obvious what both Ririka and Mary were trying to say. Ririka talking about “mixing/blending” with Kirari was her trying to warn Mary that she might blend too far and forget herself for a moment. Mary is saying that they’ll make a promise (complete with a pinky swear!) that if Ririka blends too much with Kirari and loses herself, Mary will find a way to pull her out of their blended state. Seeing as how pulling from Ririka’s pile of votes (technically a shared pile of votes between them) unblends Ririka from Kirari, Mary achieves this goal.
That part above is the most egregious fumble this month, which, compared to other chapter releases, is pretty tame. I do have one more tiny bone to pick and an interesting detail that can’t be transferred 1:1 from Japanese to English.
First, another oddity in translation that, while not incorrect, does warp Ririka’s characterization a little bit. It has to do with just after Ririka breaks free of their blend, and informs Kirari that the remaining 99 votes are coming from her pile.
The the English translation for this part says: Kirari: ...I’m sorry? Mary Saotome has only one vote, doesn’t she? Where are the other ninety-nine coming from?
Ririka: Well, Kirari...I’ll show you. They’re right here.
Kirari: It’s an outside bet! A conditional vote handover!
What they actually say in Japanese is: Kirari: 。。。どういうことかしら。早乙女 芽亜里待ち票は1票でしょう?残り99票はどうから来たの?
Ririka: 。。。それはな、綺羅莉。こういうことだ。
Kirari: 外ウマによる票の条件付き譲渡!
Kirari: ...What does that mean, I wonder / ...I’m not sure I understand. Mary has one vote, correct? Where did the other 99 votes come from?
Ririka: ...From this, Kirari... They’re coming from here.
Kirari: A conditional transfer of votes from outside the game/an outside bet!
Tumblr media
The English, again, is not necessarily wrong, but it is perhaps a little bit more confrontational or forceful than it’s portrayed in Japanese.
And now onto something we, as an English-speaking audience, missed out on because of nuances in Japanese that don’t have a direct equivalent in English.
It happens right after the events above, when Ririka reveals she kept a secret from Kirari, and Kirari being over-fucking-joyed that Ririka did so.
The the English translation for this part says: Ririka! You’ve been keeping a secret from me?
What it says in Japanese is: リリカ!貴方*。。。私に秘密を作るというの?
Ririka! Dear/Darling*...You’re keeping a secret from me?
Tumblr media
*The version of “you” Kirari is using here, 貴方, with that specific kanji, can, contextually, mean “dear” or “darling” when used with people the speaker is familiar or affectionate towards. In fact, it’s the exact same “you” that Ririka directed at Mary when she was blended with Kirari in the first half of the chapter, though when she said it then, she was purposefully being condescending.
Tumblr media
The excerpt I wrote explaining that is below:
*So the way Ririka is using 貴方 here is extremely condescending. The way she’s saying “dear” (貴方 is only used that way when affectionate and familiar with someone, typically) seems to be conveying multiple things at once, which is a linguistic property of how Japanese is structured that can sometimes be very difficult to convey in English. In this context 貴方 means two things at the same time: Ririka is saying “You” in a very rude, distant, and condescending way that implies she looks down on Mary. The other meaning is “dear/honey/darling/sweetheart” and is used when familiar with someone.
In contrast, the way Kirari is using it above, coupled with how visibly happy and excited she is, points to her being genuine instead of condescending, meaning that her line above could’ve been translated as: “Ririka, darling! You’re keeping a secret from me?”
That’s all I caught in this particular release.
If you made it this far, thanks for reading, and I’ll continue chipping away at Kari translations in between chapters! In fact, you can get at the translation for the Kari released alongside this chapter here.
See you next time! :)

Scattered AU Masterpost Part 1
This is a collection of all material associated with the Scattered AU (read about the premise here)!
Join the new Discord server here
AU material under the cut (because this is growing super fast already)
Due to post length limit (which is apparently a thing), find Part 2 of this AU here.
A few ideas to get us started:
- Tango and Zedaph spawned relatively close to each other, but they haven't found each other yet and each think they are alone. They keep just barely missing each other in their exploration of the area. Maybe, with the powers of Zed's perfect sense of direction and Tango's laser-sharp perception skills, they'll finally stop walking circles around each other...maybe.
- Xisuma spawned alone, deep underground in a massive, confusing cave system. He desperately wants to figure out what's going on and how to fix it, but a bad run-in with the Warden damaged his helmet, leaving him unable to use admin commands.
- Mumbo spawned the farthest out of anyone, right next to a woodland mansion. He quickly realized that hoping to stumble across another person this far out is a lost cause, so he's trying to create some form of communication using a combination of redstone and Evoker magic. The Evoker isn't very helpful, and it isn't going well.
- Joe and Vintagebeef were the only ones to successfully spawn at spawn. They aren't really sure what's going on, but they've decided to build a small village as a base of operations while they figure it out (and to signal signs of life to anyone who might successfully find their way back)
- Cleo spawned in a village, and is currently hiding out in a house while trying to convince the villagers to trust her. Let's just say they aren't thrilled to have a zombie in their midst (and the iron golem is even less pleased)
- Impulse had the misfortune to spawn in a guardian temple. Between the guardians and the constant threat of drowning, he's been in a death loop since the world started.
- False and Stress spawned right next to each other. They figured out pretty early that something was wrong with regen, and using their combined strengths, they made it to the Nether to get ingredients for healing potions. They are now on a mission to find the others and distribute the potions to whoever needs them.
- Ren actually managed to travel a good distance back to the world center, before getting pretty badly injured. With no regen, and knowing he'll have to start the journey all over if he dies and respawns, he's decided to pull together a small base and take shelter while he waits to be found.
- Scar spawned on an outer End island, with no idea how to get back to the Overworld. He keeps finding strange glitches in his surroundings, and he swears he can hear soft Vex laughter whenever he turns his back...
- Keralis spawned in the Nether, and he is absolutely terrified.
That's all I have for ideas so far. The location of the others (and what happens next) is up to you!
Contributions so far:
- Bdubs spawns in the void, but he just doesn’t die. Maybe it’s spawn protection, maybe it’s the glitches, but he just keeps falling and falling and falling further from the bedrock, unable to do anything to help himself as he descends further into the void
- @fluffy-papaya
- After wandering around aimlessly for days or maybe weeks, Tango finds an automatic farm for... well... he's not sure, exactly. But he does know who built it- it's got Zedaph's mark all over it. So he stays there, fixing broken Redstone, trying to figure out what it does. And when Zedaph returns to collect melons (so that's what this thing is for), he finds Tango waiting for him.
- @rayveewrites
- Etho spawns in a underwater cave, but there is air in it and for some reason a shipwreck so he can get some wood and tools. But he has to get out to contact anyone because the reception in caves don't happen to be the best, little does he know just outside the cave is the monument where Impulse is, they're so close yet so far from one another
- anonymous
- Maybe Etho ended up spawning at the very top of a mountain, he could see far from up there and has a general idea of where he is, but no idea how to get down as all around him is powderd snow hiding ravines, and cliffs. . . And a few goats that Etho has narowly avoided getting headbutted by. (Etho went to the mountain after escaping the cave)
- @ciaravixen
- Welsknight spawned in the Nether
- (paraphrased) Ren fell down a ravine in the mountains on his journey to the world center, and decided to make a small cabin base rather than try to carry on injured. Doc spawned in those same mountains, and may find him eventually.
- anonymous
- Grian spawns on the tallest peak of the highest mountain. Surrounded by thick fog and almost ever-falling snow, with crevasses and cliffs that drops thousands of blocks to the ground around every corner. No trees, no life, and barely enough air to breath. It's so cold. A thin red sweater isn't nearly enough to keep him warm.... he's likely caught in a death loop for quite awhile as he refreeze over, and over, and over again. And when he does manage to climb down, an ice pillager lies in wait...
- @therainofsweetmelody
- Scar’s End spawn is on a single island- he can see other islands around him, but they’re just out of jump reach- he tried, and fell and died, and respawned back onto his little island with the whispering voices around him a tad louder, and the islands just a bit farther away. He stops trying to jump to them eventually, out of fear they’ll vanish and he won’t have anything to focus on besides the whisper of ice cold hands and wings on his skin
- anonymous
- Oh! Maybe since Xisuma’s admin helmet is broken and he’s unable to run any world commands, that means mob hermits like Cleo, Doc, and Jevin aren’t quite the same. Maybe Cleo locked herself in that house for the villagers protection as much as her own. Maybe Doc eventually joins a lone creeper pack. Who knows! -💧
- anonymous
- Zed and Tango spawned in the same jungle biome, explaining the melon farm and why they could be literally three blocks from each other and still not be aware of each other’s existence. -🟣
- The first thing Scar does once he first spawns in (besides from almost having a panic attack) is take a jump into the void. This of course does nothing. He checks out the rest of the end islands around him, and finds a rather large end city just in render distance. There should be treasure or something that could help him survive, right? -🟣
- Keralis was lucky enough to spawn in a warped forest biome and next to a basalt delta, so he’s got wood and stone. It takes a bit, but he gets full gold armor and finds his way to a nether fortress. He figures with the broken regen that the other hermits will try to go for potions. Maybe he finds Stress and False, maybe not. -🟣
- I apologize if I'm sending too many asks, please feel free to say if so! I'm just already so invested in this idea, and absolutely love where it's all going! Shattered au brainrot go brrrrr - anyways; Cub spawns in a valley within the messa. To one side an abandoned village covers the cliff, and to the other, mines drill deep into the rock. A stream luckily runs through the valley, though it's slowly drying up. He can hear strange sounds in the mines, and feels something in the village watching
- @/therainofsweetmelody
- what if the hermits caught in death loops start gaining scars and marks from all their deaths? like impulse had permanent scars from the guardians and grian’s hands are permanently blue from freezing to death all the time
- anonymous
- X finds some axoloyls in a lush cave and falls in love. He gets some wood from said cave and gets some buckets so he can keep them -🟣
- Cleo gets stuck in a death loop with the iron golem, who is blind to her not attacking the villagers. One of the smarter villagers realizes she’s not fighting back, and calls the golem off. -🟣
- (paraphrased) After the iron golem is called off, Stress and False find Cleo badly hurt in the village house. They make sure she's comfortable and safe before going to the Nether to get potions, where they find a battered Keralis and carry him back. They turn the house into a little hospital while they brew potions and take care of Cleo and Keralis until they're strong enough to move on.
- anonymous
- Stress and False have set up a Nether Portal near a Nether Fortress, for easy escape to the relative safety of the Overworld. Keralis has never been more relieved in his life than when he found that portal.
- @/rayveewrites
- Doc spawned a thousand blocks away from ren, not knowing hos friend was there he happened to go in that direction. He managed to get materials, tools and food for himself before he sees rens little hut
- anonymous
- Jevin was one of the luckier hermits, when it came to where he spawned. He woke up in the shallow green waters of a floral cave, illuminated by glowing rocks and berries. He wasn't... quite alone. Although no other hermits could be seen, he quickly found a small family of axolotl living in the closed-off cave. They became his companions as he tried to assess his situation, and served as comfort when he realised his communicator was almost useless. Being slime, the environment was very welcoming
- @/therainofsweetmelody
- Xb spawns in the middle of a desert, with not even a village in sight. While he's used to being in distant lands with limited resources, he's very much not used to it on the Hermitcraft server with limited contact to the others. As the nights go by and the sands grow more hostile thanks to never-burning husks, he grows more and more lonely.
-@/basaltdragon
- At first, Doc is elated when he spawns on a mountain surrounded by goats. That is, until he discovers that none of his fellow hermits are there with him. After being headbutted down the mountain into the snowy tundra below and left on precariously low health, he hunkers down in a nearby igloo. But it's not exactly easy in a food-scarce biome when his only contacts are two villagers and the horde of strays that gather outside each night...
-@crows-in-space
- in one sense of the word, scar is safe. There's enough chorus fruit on the island to keep him alive, and despite his concerns the enderman don't even bat an eye at him. Theoretically, he could survive for longer than many of the others. But the whispers keep nagging at him, pushing him closer and closer to the edge. Sure, he could survive, but how long could he stay on this deathly quiet piece of land before someone would find him? He can see the faint outline of an End City on one of the fading islands, and every passing moment it haunts him. If he could just give in for a moment, let the powers of the vex harness his body for just a few seconds, maybe he could make it over and gather some gear- maybe even an elytra- and then he'd be set. But fear and logic talk him out of it. He's made deals with the vex before, and that quick trip across the islands could put him in a much more dangerous position than only being stranded...
- @/crows-in-space
- What if after scar gives up, he finds his vex mask lying on the floor with a tag saying ‘do it, it’ll help you get across’ (shade's note: Scar does it)
- anonymous
- For the Scattered AU: Scar gets an elytra, and after much internal struggling he decides to take a chance and leap into the darkness for hope of finding another island. During his terrifying glide he hears a distant scream from the void that is so familiar, but he can't quite place it, and he's in no hurry to risk flying any lower to check it out. - M
- @petrichormeraki
- Iskall and doc's robotic eye glitch out so they don't have any depth vision, so no mater where they spawn, they Are bound to die a few times from missinterprating how far away an Arrow or trident is, and how fast something is coming at them.
- @/ciaravixen
- I initially thought of this for Ren, but since there was already an idea for him, it could probably work for Iskall instead; He spawns in the middle of a scorching desert. Dunes of sand for as far as the eye can see, with barely a cactus or dead Bush in between. No water, no life - only the ever-present heat of the sweltering sun, and the large skeletons everywhere. He manages to find an abandoned temple after days of dragging himself through the sand, and spies a desert village on the horizon
- @/therainofsweetmelody
- Scattered AU! The way the "not killing Bdubs in his own spawn in the void" glitches work is similar to the forgiving void mod works where when you hit the bottom of the void you are teleported to the top instead of taking damage, but since Bdubs can't see anything in the void he doesn't know this (beyond a constant falling) feeling until he manages to "fall forward" enough to find some end islands, he finds scar this way but is so excited to see him he died from fall damage right in front of him
- @theclockworkowl
- (Scattered AU) Piggybacking off the death loop scars ask, when/if Bdubs is rescued from the void, he's in ROUGH shape. His external limbs are blackened and freezing with frostbite from the void (voidbite?), and his bones are permanently weakened from his form being subjected to the cold abyss for so long. Bdubs needs to relearn gravity after falling for so long, and doesn't use elytra anymore. The solid ground under his feet is something he'll never sacrifice for convenience ever again. - M
- @/petrichomeraki
- Wels spawned in a giant crimson forest in the nether. Towering mushroom trees, thick red vines, with piglins and hoglins he constantly has to run away from. But he finds something.... interesting as he's exploring. A house has been built into a wall, a mixture of nether and overworld blocks. Stepping inside, someone clearly lives there - someone who's not a piglin. Imagine his surprise (and relief) when a certain familair knight walks through the door. "Helsknight?"
-@/therainofsweetmelody
- xB wakes up in a dripstone cavern. It's damp and cold and the spikes are very tall, forming a sort of natural cage around him. At the very least, zombies and mobs can't get through, but the longer he stays there, the weirder the sounds get. There... wasn't a new mob for the dripstone caves, right? Right? (i'm trying VERY hard not to do new hermit OR crossover headcanons for scattered au. i swear) ~@betweenlands
- Scattered AU! Everyone Etho dies He spawns in a new place, first it was the underwater cave, then it was the top of a mountain, but it wasn't until he spawned inside an ocean monument and saw impulse trying to escape just as he was dying he realise the importance of the pattern, He was cycling though each of the other hermits spawn locations, which made all the wierd almost hermit made wierdnes make sense, the underwater one was his but the mountain was Grian's spawn spot,
- @/theclockworkowl
- Can the hermits see death messages? (They can) I'm imagining the potential angst of that, where normal world messages (achievements, commands, deaths) go through just fine but the others can't chat. The helplessness of watching their friends' names endlessly filling the chat and having no idea where they are, having no clue how to help, not even being able to offer comfort.
- @/basaltdragon
- Someone had mentioned xisuma also ending up in a floral cavern with axolotl, right? What if this was the same cave Jevin found himself stuck in? After days and days of clawing at stone, xisuma finally breaks into a cavern filled with faint light. After discovering the friendly acolotls, he notices a strange blue mass floating in the water.... and is almost startled to death when he sees the skull faintly showing through the slime, and the familiar wobbly voice coming from it. "Xisuma?"
- Doc and Grian (and later on, ren) spawned on the same mountain. Grian, of course, at the very top: stuck in the endless snowpeak, towering high above the clouds. Doc, meanwhile, ended up at the base, surrounded by snow and goats and giant taiga trees as far as the eye could see. Once Ren got stuck in the ravine, he often heard a familiar scream before a sickening splat every now and again, as the ravine lies almost completely below the highest peak. He's afraid to check his communicator.
- @/therainofsweetmelody
- grian’s practically given up since there’s not much for him to do. there’s no food and his hands are too frozen to mine. a little fox stays by his side at least. he’s about to freeze again and his health is low and he hears crumching footsteps approaching. he assumes its the iceologer coming for him but instead he hears “grian?” and he can make out blurry figures before he passes out and wakes up wrapped up in a blanket infromt of a fire. (whoevers managed to find and rescue him is up to you :D) (Shade's notes: the person who found him was Doc, and he took him back to Ren's cabin to warm up)
- anonymous
- Scar isn't the only one changed by the time he reaches spawn. Impulse drags himself up onto land finally, breathing heavily, and there's something different about him. Sharper teeth. The shadow he casts more inconsistent. Always faintly smells like saltwater. And his eyes glow faintly, a pale washed-out non-color like light at the bottom of the ocean. Something suggesting nonhuman geometry. Something sleeping that had to reawaken to escape. ~@betweenlands
- Eventually, Etho spawns in a jungle. By a complete stroke of luck, he sees the smoke of a campfire. Tango and Zedaph are happy to see someone- anyone- else. Especially when it turns out Etho somehow managed to get the coordinates of a certain Ocean Temple. Sure, it's far, but they can make it. After all, there's an 'I' in team ZIT, and they aren't leaving him behind.
- @/rayveewrites
- (summary of a couple different writing peices) After escaping the Guardian Temple, Impulse set out to find any other Hermit he could. He has gained some unnerving qualities and abilities that he doesn't really understand, but he's trying not to think about that right now. After defeating several mobs he should not have been able to defeat with his level of progress, he now possesses one Totem of Undying. He met up with Zedaph, Tango, and Etho on their way to find him. They are now hosting him at their campsite and are glad he is safe, but Etho is unnerved and suspicious of his more unsettling attributes.
- I had sent this idea right after the inbox closed, rip. But anyways - what if mumbo ended up befriending the evokers and pilligers in the woodland mansion? Of course, it wouldnt be like that at first- the constant death to the axes and swords and magic, the growls and yelling and cursed glares. But he always came back to work on the redstone and evoker magic in a desperate attempt to contact the others. Eventually, the evoker stops sending their vex, and the pilligers stop swinging their weapons
- @/therainofsweetmelody
- (Scattered AU) After Scar gives in to the Vex. Bdubs is barely conscious to begin with; dying to the void so many times really took it out of him in every way possible. But when he is awake, what he sees makes him scared. Scar with faded, cold eyes. Scar with transparent wings, gone in a blink. Scar being able to do things he shouldn't. Scar says it's to get them out of there, but every day he gets a little paler, a little colder, and Bdubs grows more worried. - M
- @/petrichomeraki
- Perhaps xb and Iskall are on opposite ends of the same desert? On one side, high sand dunes covering miles, with a single desert temple and isolated desert village hidden amongst the cliffs and hills. On the other, the deep flatt valley next to a Mesa mountain, flat nothingness stretching far past the horizon. It would still take quite a long time for them to find each other, but at least there's a change they could meet... and, perhaps, over that mountain, cub could be somewhere in the mesa
-@/therainofsweetmelody
- Iskall and Xb eventually find each other in the desert. Sunburned, dehydrated, and sand-blasted, they hug when they first meet despite not knowing each other well. And they try their best not to die, because what are the chances they'll ever find each other again? Two heads are better than one for finding their way to the rest of the hermits.
-@/basaltdragon
- Its probably a week or so of falling before bdubs managed to move enough to finally see the end islands just barely rendering in the distance. As someone had mentioned, perhaps he became so hopeful that he missed his mark, hitting the ground with a sickening splat just blocks beside scar. It took bdubs almost another week to get forward enough to see the islands again. This time, he landed right on scar... sending the vex back to his spawn several islands away, and leaving bdubs alone for days
-@/therainofsweetmelody
- While Bdubs and Scar are more than happy to have found each other again, their moments together are tense and filled with gaps of uncomfortable silence. There's an unspoken agreement hanging over them: Scar doesn't question Bdubs' frozen and frail state, and Bdubs pretends not to notice how Scar's skin has gotten pale and ghost-like, or how he glances behind him often, like he's being followed by a shadow only he can see. Though of course, Bdubs does notice. The whole server does. Grian wakes up in a cold sweat from a dream of Scar's ruthless attempts to destroy the mycelium resistance. Cub feels his own ties to the vex magic acting up once again, now worrying more than ever what Scar may have encountered in this broken world. Even Mumbo's evoker friend begins acting different, though Mumbo can't seem to determine whether it's out of excitement or fear...
-@/crows-in-space
- Scattered AU After the Wels meeting Hels Headcanon I imagine maybe Hels offers a deal to insure his safety on the Hermitcraft Server in exchange for Wels safety in the Nether. Wels very reluctantly agrees adding to the deal that Hels won’t hurt anyone. To bad he didn’t notice his Evil counterpart cross his fingers while shaking on it.
- anonymous
- Scattered AU: TFC spawns on the main end island, dragon and all. With out proper preparation he’s been stuck in a death loop since the world’s start. Sometimes, right before he dies, he wishes that the janky respon would de-age his body; he’s not the agile young man who could take down the dragon solo anymore.
- @liagrace-b
- Scattered!Grian can’t fly. His normal down-featherly wings look like every feather has been plucked off, leaving the very sensitive skin open to the elements. But the world’s code itself has altered the physics of the wings themselfs. Grian can feel how much heavier the wing structure sits on his back, meaning that they couldn’t let him glide even if fully feathered. Poor Grian hasn’t survived the freezing cold long enough to know if his feathers would grow back with enough time.
- anonymous
- EX somehow gets into the scattered mix. Spawning in the Deep Dark, the exiled admin is terrified, and will stop at nothing to find his brother. 🌙
- (Scattered AU) Scar and Bdubs, after months(?) of travel, make it to the Ender Dragon's island. Bdubs is scared for both of their lives; he is in no condition to fight, he can't even STAND, and he's so, so afraid to die and be condemned to falling forever in the void once again. Scar says nothing, only gently setting his friend down behind an obsidian pillar before his skin goes completely translucent, his eyes clouding white. (Paraphrased: Scar defeats the dragon, him and Bdubs meet up with TFC)
- @/petrichormeraki
- the plugins do not work, so singleplayer sleep is out. Beds do reset spawn point, so the Hermits who spawned in a place where they can get them would do well to make several and use them as checkpoints along their journey (and hope that they don't get broken, especially for those who had to escape death loops....)
- (my answer to some questions)
- Those trapped in death loops change, adapting until they aren't harmed anymore or till they escape. After all, what are players if not adaptable?
- @permafrost782
- Xisuma blames his broken helmet for being unable to admin, as some sort of comfort. But there is no comfort there. The truth is, not even Joe, Tango, Cub, or Hypno can access the chat, can even begin to run commands to fix what has gone wrong. If they could, they would have teleported everyone to 0,0 and reset the worldspawn. Those partnered with any of the admins feel a certain kind of hopelessness. Those without feel a different kind of hopeless.
- @/basaltdragon
- To add to the scattered AU: Though i had seen someone explain the void connecting to the end so Bdubs gets out of that fall, i had the thought of this; What if eventually the void loops around with the overworld's sky, so he's basically in a continuous loop if falling to his death and respawning in the void until he finally is lucky enough in his falls to get over water and live. After that he just has to stay alive otherwise he returns to the void..
-@aetosofvalla
- Somewhere, in the back of Scar’s vex-addled mind, there’s the worry of Jellie. Where is she? Is she with another hermit? Did she spawn in with another village again and will he have to find her again? -🟣
- (Scattered AU) Cub and Scar have been linked by the Vex ever since their deal. One day, Cub's iron armor burns against his skin all at once, and through the searing pain is a horrifying realization that Scar has given in. - M
-@/petrichormeraki
- After a while Cub gets the resources to build a nether portal, but then he finds his portal has connected with someone else's. He finds himself lost again, without access to the farms he's built or the resources he's gathered, but at least he knows a friend is close.
- anonymous
- The End duo come across another end city. There’s a boat at the far end. Scar flies up on delicate vex wings to get the spare elytra and other loot. They’ve been walking for far too long. He floats down (as if he had the slow-falling effect. There’s only health in the brewing stand. Bdubs’ worry for Scar increases) with an extra set of trousers, boots, an elytra, the potions and a pic. Scar offers the elytra to Bdubs. He refuses. It’ll take longer to walk, but he never wants to fall again🟣
- Mumbo gets caught up in redstone work and doesn't bother trying to find anyone else. So when another hermit finally finds him, he has to stop his evoker friend from attacking. Whether or not he's successful is another thing.
- Anonymous
- (Scattered AU) Consider. When Doc finds Grian on the mountain peak while exploring the terrain, a message sends through everyone's communicators. <Grian was blown up by a Creeper>. Doc doesn't get a death message that time, despite both of them suffering the consequences of a surprised Doc in a server where mob-oriented hermits are more volatile than they should be. Doc doesn't go looking for other hermits again after that, and Grian is shocked into numbness at the dawning realization that his monster friends might be so much worse off than he thought. - M
- @/petrichormeraki
A summary of where things stand so far
- scattered au pog!!! hypno is in a seemingly endless flowery field. it was nice at first, but there's no trees, no food, and hardly any water. the sun is so hot. flowers aren't filling. hypno thought he liked being alone.
- Anonymous
- Mumbo doesn’t succumb to the magic of the mansion like perhaps Cub and Scar have, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t entirely unaffected- his skin becomes a little more washed out, instincts a little more violent- he certainly can’t go into villages anymore, otherwise the iron golem will smash him to bits
- @/fluffy-papaya
- With Scar using Vex magic, the Vex turn their attention to Cub, trying to tempt him at every turn. More then once he's found his mask in one of his chests, staring up at him, or awoken in a cold sweat from a dream full of vex. So far, he's resisted the temptation. Wether that lasts is another question entirely.
-@/bat-connoisseur
- Maybe eventualy hypno realises Even flowers would need water to grow, or that the bees must have a bee hive somewhere around here, and the bee hive is always connected to a tree(I think thats the case in Minecraft). So he tries to find where the buzzing comes from and follow the bees around.
- @/ciaravixen
- cleo bases a lot of her identity around being a zombie, right? she probably isnt too happy to be cured. she probably cries all the time it takes her to heal. it had to be done, but that doesnt mean she has to like it. and she doesnt, not one little bit.
- Anonymous
- that ask about Mumbo not bothering to look for anyone got me thinking.... Mumbo getting too caught up in his work with the evokers to look for the others. Mumbo making friends with the illagers. Mumbo knowing that it's completely reasonable that nobody has found him yet, but still getting the creeping feeling that no one is coming for him. Mumbo spending all his time with his new friends because, after all, they're here, and the hermits aren't... All this to say that, when the hermits eventually do find him, he might not be very inclined to leave...
- @/crows-in-space
- At one point, Mumbo's new friends are just...watching him try to do his stuff, observing. Mumbo's getting increasingly frustrated when ne of the evokers watching him breaks off and hands him something. At first he thinks its a totem of undying, its shaped like one, but its strange. Made out of iron, and its eyes are diamonds instead of emeralds. Then it starts to burn his hands and he passes out from the pain. When he wakes, its gone and he moves on, a bit more wary of his 'friends'. Maybe it was a mean joke, or some kinda of strange inhiation for the mansion maybe Except next time he's frustrated, he thows his hands up annoyed and fangs rise out of the ground around him and snap at the air. He cries out, confused, before looking at his hands which almost look like they've been painted with gray paints. it wont come off. He seems mentally the same but now he starts to experiment with his new found abilities. Maybe they can help with his redstone or even find others.
- Anonymous
- after trying a poisonous flower, hypno respawns back in the field. this time, he tries walking in a different direction. maybe this is the way out.
- Anonymous
- The flowers in Hypno’s area are just so perfect... blooming dandelions don’t lose their seeds when he brushes against them, petals that are crushed underfoot quickly regain their shape- and if his mind wasn’t so affected, he would’ve noticed the flower he picked was quickly replaced by another
- @/fluffy-papaya
- The Moobloom has one unique feature: The ability to leave behind flowers in its path... that is, the ability to alter the world around it simply by walking. These flower plains are not particularly large, maybe eight or so chunks across in each direction, but glitched world generation spawned in a herd of mooblooms, and all they've been doing is walking around causing little distortions, one on top of the other. From the inside, where Hypno is standing, the plains go on forever. The air is thick with buttercup pollen that's slowly dulling his sense of space and time. He has to pull it together, somehow. Force the world to recognise that he's walking forwards in a straight line. Or he'll be wandering in circles forever...
- @/draconic-dreams
- another hermit- maybe beef? sees the edge of a deep, fragrant field. on the horizon, not far away, is hypno, walking in circles. he calls but he cannot hear beef. something tells the man not to go into that field- at least, not without a flint and steel. (Shade note: Beef and Joe saved Hypno and are currently sheltering him (unconscious) in their spawn sanctuary)
- anonymous
- Maybe if they went through the exit portal and it glitched but good. They don't think about the fact it should send them back to their spawns, Scar feels something at the back of his mind that very much isn't him tell him to change his mind, stay in this place becuase they'll just be trapped if they try to leave, but Bdubs grabs his arm and jumps in before Scar can say anything. For a second, blessed silence, Scar's mind feels clear and normal. then they show up at world spawn and scare theother

(Shade note: people at the spawn haven now include Joe, Beef, Hypno, TFC, Scar, and Bdubs)
- Once Keralis and Cleo are healed up, the village gang starts going to 0,0 to try to meet up with others. On the way, they find a flower forest (potentially the same one Hypno’s in). They find some mooblooms and fall in love (this was def not done bc I want some fluff, nope not at all /s) -🟣
- Mumbo receives a set of robes from his evoker friend. He’s loathe to get rid of his suit, but at the same time... well, all the better to fit in, right? This is a glitch and fluke anyway, and he might as well blend in if the illagers ever turn on him. That’s it. That’s the only reason he tosses the suit jacket into the fireplace, don’t be silly. It has nothing to do with the feeling that he just doesn’t want to leave...

- I’m imagining Shattered Impulse looking like the Fishman from Shape of Water + the teeth of an Angler fish and the ability to unhinge his jaw. Poor guy probably gets mistaken for a glitched mob when someone finds him.
- @/fandomrecycling
- Yes hello it's me again. After the pollen spells breaks for Hypno (and whoever else might have tried to save him beforehand...), he notices he's a little different. he can't always control how he moves, he doesn't like eye contact, and he takes an even bigger interest in his, well, interests than before. Basically Tourettic Hypno go brrr (I am tourettic so feel free to ask me clarification!)
- @/fireflower-dusk
- I don't think Keralis has been mentioned except for being in the nether so I would like to contribute that he spawned in that soul sand and skeleton biome that has almost nothing in it.

- Mumbo, being hundreds of thousands of blocks out from spawn, is the last hermit to be found. Even after the glitch was fixed, Mumbo was so caught up in his research and new abilities that he no longer felt it mattered. He'd been apart from the hermits for well over a year now; and a long time ago he gave up hope that they'd come back for him. This was, of course, until he woke up one morning to a disturbance outside. When he goes to check the source of the racket, he's left frozen in place at the sight of Iskall on his mansion's doorstep. And at the end of it all, despite Mumbo telling himself that he was better alone, Iskall's hand on his shoulder, reassuring that "Yes, I'm here, yes, I'm real, and no, I'm not leaving, you spoon." Is enough for Mumbo to break, clinging to Iskall as if he'd disappear at any moment, murmuring "I'm sorry" over and over like a broken record. -🧸
- Maybe after Wels and Hels make their deal, and Wels gets some gold gear and a respawn anchor to click, Hels shows him how to create a portal to Hels the place to which from there, they think they can get into the overworld. The only catch being that to get in to Hels the place you need to focus all of you emotions onto pure hatred and anger, but the question is could Wels do it?
- Anonymous
- Hels taunts Wels about how no one came to get him, and plants ideas about how this was done on purpose, about how he's the only one to spawn in the nether for a reason. He tells him the hermits want him gone. And Wels of course becomes angry but he becomes angry at Hels for trying to tell him his friends didn't care about him. He's also angry at himself though, maybe for thinking he hasn't done enough to make his friends want to keep him around. He is never mad at the hermits though, never them
- TFC's concerned. Even if he thinks it's great he found Bdubs and Scar, the latter shouldn't be able to just kill the ender dragon alone. TFC doesn't know much about Scar but the man can barely fly usually, why did he turn into a vex, anyway? vexes don't exist in the end. TFC need to ask, at least to make sure he's ok, but everytime he tries he stops in his track once the cold, icy blue eyes stare back at him. devoid of the usual warmth his green ones have.

- (Scatter AU) Saw someone mention the other ops on the server and had a thought: Tango is a programmer with a specialty in game programming. He’s probably sitting at the campfire thinking of every single way the game must have been corrupted to cause this many problems. If he could just get into the code, maybe he could fix some of these problems. I’ll bet he’s driving himself a little crazy thinking of everything that could be done to fix the world and not being able to do anything...

- Cub was lucky, he thinks. Seeing the many death messages in chat, he's torn between gratitude that he's ended up with what almost looks like a normal spawn, and worry for his friends. After gathering enough resources to stay reasonably safe, he knows what he has to do next. So when he encounters Xb, he eventually suggests he takes some resources and a bed he's salvaged from the abandoned village and heads towards 0,0, hoping there'll be someone there. (1/3)But as for him... well, there's an obvious place to head as far as he can see, for someone with a safe enough spawn point and the ability to gather resources. A place where he knows for sure he'll find someone else, someone who needs help. After all, unless this world is even more messed up that it seems, there's only one place where a player would be killed by the Ender dragon, and he knows exactly how to get there. (2/3) (Shade note: Him and xB were not successful in finding the Hermit who the mystery portal belonged to. They must have died in the Nether and returned to their spawn point. XB resists the idea that they split up, but he sees the logic in it and agrees to start the long journey for 0,0.) (pt. 3 was eaten by the inbox)

- Maybe one of the reasons Cleo doesn't like being a human as much is because she had chronic pain (particularly in her back) when she was alive, and when she gets cured after meeting up with False, Stress, and Keralis, her back pain comes back (along with all the other pains of being alive)

- Whenever Etho spawns, wherever Etho spawns, he takes it upon himself to tell each and every Hermit he can find to head towards 0,0. He's not sure why, but he believes that if they get everyone together, they can figure out how to fix the broken world. If there aren't any Hermits in sight, he'll make a sign out of whatever's avalible before going searching. It's a complete pain to try and build anything coherent out of sand and cactus, but he has to try. He has to get everyone together. It's their best hope. It's their only hope.Even Evil X. Even Hels. Everyone. He doesn't care about past grievances. They need to get through this. And their only option is to do it together. (Shade note: He doesn't stay with Team ZIT for long. He probably dies trying to protect them from something, knowing that it will only result in him finding another Hermit anyway. Even though he himself isn't making any progress toward the origin, he counts it as a victory every time he can guide one of his friends just a little bit closer.)
- Doc Ren and Grian himself thought that him being found and safe would fix everything right? yea no he has horrible fevor, he struggles to retain warmth depsite 2 feet from a fire, he's tired and has a hard time stay awake becuase on the mt he slept alot, he barley eats cuz he cant hold too much down rn. He cant stand being alone or he'll start to panic, ands he's just trying to ignore the new fox fetures he has desperately when he's aware enough to do. Doc and Ren have a hard time ahead of them.

- Mumbo was trying to make a machine with redstone and evoker magic to contact the hermits right?so what if he did build the machine ad at first his only way to get the magic was to go annoy the evoker hoping he would try to hit him and instead hit the machine to power it. Plan backfired so many times because of the vex killing him before. So when Mumbo becomes apprentice he wants to try power the machine himself but it breaks because he can't control how much magic he uses yet.time to study magic

- Etho dies with the Zit and ends up back in it. Next he ends up in X's spawn, there's no one around but he finds the bloody tunnel X punched himself, and races down it to see in the distance Xisuma and Jevin in a cave.He calls out to them, only to get overwhelmed by zombies that just spawned, He manages to gurgle out 0,0 before he dies again. (He's now determined to be the messenger of meetings, even willing to die on purpose to find them all). After that? Ren's old spawn, now he has to track ren

- Mumbo having to learn how to use the magic, the evoker will probably also try to teach him how to summon the vex, even if Mumbo really wants to just focus on the magic and not the evocation. What if he's able to summon Scar since he gave his name to the vex? just by accident and Mumbo gets so startled by Scar's new appearance that he immediately interrupts the evocation and makes Scar dissappear. - Once Wels and Helssknight are in Hels the have to sneak around a lot. Hels isn’t as popular there as he had previously boasted, that’s why he had tried to take over the over world. Cue heart to heart talk before a Hels version of another hermit cuts them off. (Can you pick the Hermit I’m kinda stuck here)

- Iskall must have not even known the direction he was walking from his desert spawn, so its purely by luck he ended up finding the mansion mumbo resides in- his cybernetic eye is fixed almost instantly upon his arrival by mumbo and iskall feels his hope fades as he realises they’re /so/ far from the hermits. I also guess he must be worried about whats happening to his friend right before him, mumbo wouldnt willingly give into the vex and evoker magic right? 1/2 But he isn’t so sure anymore, the days at the mansion are quiet and uncomfortable as Iskall has to be wary of the illagers that walk the halls, mumbo assures him of his safety, but theres no light in his eyes - he doubts the illagers welcomed mumbo at first- The usual banter isn’t there at all, its dead silence as mumbo keeps on working and Iskall can see how paler his skin becomes and the blue scars that litter his body 2/2

- Etho died and respawned at the true spawn once. Beef was elated to see him and was afraid if he let him go, he would disappear. He didn’t want to lose his friend again. In the end, he does, he was actually with Etho when he dies, and he never lets the feeling go.

- aww poor etho! At least he's okay with this new role as messenger. Now i can just imagen he ends up at Ren's spawn and manages to track the man, nearly dying but staying alive and- thats a house in the distance! He goes over and nearly runs into Doc, who invites him in surprised and they catch each other up, their spawns and Etho's situation. They're overjoyed to hear about the others and Ethos glad to see them realtivly okay. Grian's condition is worrying however, changed and still weak (1) They agree they need to start heading to 0,0 but Ren is nervous about leaving safety, Doc wants them safe, and with Grian still sick and weak from laying in snow for weeks it'll take a bit until he's stable enough to travel (he'll probs have to be carried anyways). Etho stays for a few days at their insistence for rest, he wants to keep going there is more hermits out there he hasn't found, they are insistent that he take time to recover. Then, he lets himself die. Off to the next hermit! (2)

- This is for the very very beginning, but maybe before False meets up with Cleo, she spawns in a warm ocean biome. Coral structures fill the water around her, and tropical fish dart between them. It would be almost peaceful, were it not for the fact that False was encased in a cage of coral. It’s a gamble every time. She has to try and smash her way out of her colorful prison before the tide rolls in, slow and steady water rising up her body and over her head. The water makes her movements clumsy and arduous as she tries to free herself, racing against time to escape the awful tide. (Pt 2) OH SORRY I HAD AN IDEA (this is from the coral False anon)What if Stress and False both spawn in that biome and they have to try and help each other out before the tide comes in?? Added angst if one of the times one manages to escape but the other doesn’t

- (scattered au) Every time that a hermit dies the universe and the world file starts to corrupt, the way that things are going if everything doesn't go back to normal soon, then the world will crumble on itself with the hermits inside.

- Admins log, day: ⬛⬛⬛ I've finally managed to find my way to the drip stone caves, weirdly I think I may have a good connection down here, I'll try to contact the others, if they haven't forgotten about me yet. (Shade note: Far away in the woodland mansion, Mumbo rubs his eyes and marks down another failure on his latest contraption. How long will it be until he can generate a signal? He has no way of knowing that, for a single moment, it worked. He stopped checking his communicator a long time ago, so he doesn't see the single message until much later: <Xisuma> can anyone hear me?)
- At some point Etho cycles round to Doc's spawn. His friend is long gone but there are five creepers in formation watching him. Waiting for something. It takes a moment for him to recall the trick of unfocusing his ears just right, so that their hisses resolve into words. He hasn't had to do it for years, after all. He hasn't run into General Spaz since he left Chocolate Island.“It'ssss been a while, Esssssho” the General says. “Let'sssss make a wager”The General reaches out for a handshake... it seems the glitch finally gave him a pair of arms.(ancient Etho lore go brrrr)

- Based on a little piece of this ask where it was mentioned that Hypno passed out only three steps outside the flower biome, I start to wonder, how long was he wandering in circles without food? Why did he collapse so immediately? Was the biome itself perhaps sustaining him? Keeping him "healthy" (if you could call it that) and alive? COULD he have starved to death if he hadn't been pulled out? Or would he have just kept walking? And walking. And walking...
-@/asexualbert
- An idea focusing on evil xisuma. He ended up spawning on the nether roof, stuck with nothing but mushrooms and bedrock as far as the eye can see. No communication, no water, no way out. He can probably eat the mushrooms, at the very least.... but there may be some bad side effects from it. It's disheartening and lonely up there, dying from starvation over. And over. And over. At one point, etho may have spawned there as well... but of course, he wouldnt last long. Condemned to endless roof...

Up. He needs to go up. He spawned too deep in the world, and though he'd heard of underground spawns there was no way, no way in the world that being so deep under was normal. Every cave he crawled up either came to a dead end or opened into a massive, mob-filled cavern, and somehow he still hadn't found even half a mineshaft. He could spend hours upon hours painfully clawing his way through the stone, but he keeps convincing himself it'll be faster to find a cave that leads to the surface. The pounding heartbeat of a warden stills rings in his ears, an ever-present reminder of his terrible luck. If only he could get some wood. Just a few planks, some torches. Anything. It's almost as if the stone doesn't want him to leave.

Ramblings of an Old Soldier Part 3/3
Sorry about the wait. The second dose of COVID vaccine drains you a lot more than the first dose. Anyways here’s part 3, part 1 and part 2 can be found here.
Admiral Sturm sat on the park bench as he always did. Sipping on his coffee and reading the latest news from his datapad. Once again, the Unkall boy approached him and sat beside him on the bench. He noticed that the aging Terran was wearing a strange uniform, with the image of a furred beast embroidered on the chest and upper right arm.
“Good afternoon Mr. Sturm.” “Ah, hello there son. Back for story time again?” “Yes sir. I was wondering what happened after the summit. Almost all traces of you vanished from records 8 cycles ago, and the only mentions of you after that were how the Terran Navy wanted you back.”
“Well, as I said the other day, I became a merc. My crew and I were the best. We took contracts from the Segmentum Norrus, all the way down to the Serectan Void. We didn’t work like most mercenary groups. We sought out our clients, and saw a lot of business. Everything from running escort duty on supply runs to desperate worlds, to taking down entire groups of bandits and pirates. Wherever we went, outlaws and tyrants alike feared the sight of The Wolf’s Den.”
“The Wolf’s Den? I think we heard about a group of people using that ship last cycle in our Galactic History class. Something about taking part in the Gingral war, only a few cycles ago.” “Ah yes, the Gingral war. Some of the bloodiest fighting I’ve ever seen. That was the last contract my crew and I took. We started off in a small role; mostly just escorting supply freighters to the border colonies since most of the supply lines had been cut and the colonists were starving. Our last supply run had been going well, until 6 light cruisers decloaked and opened fire. We did the best we could, but the supply freighter carrying food and civilians was destroyed in only a few minutes.”
“We could have escaped after that. Made a jump to the nearest Unkall station and gotten reinforcements, but My crew and I all knew what had to be done. We knew that the Gingral had to pay. They may have outnumbered us 6 to 1, and they may have had us outgunned, but they didn’t account for us having a mark 7 jump core. We warped around behind them and took down 2 of the light cruisers rather easily, but then we took a hit. The jump core cut out, and we were relying only on engine power.”
“But The Wolf’s Den must have survived somehow. The history logs said that it served through the entirety of the Gingral War.”
“That’s almost right. We knew that we wouldn’t be able to keep her together much longer, so we did what all Terrans do in situations like this. We became unpredictable. We gave all power to weapons and blasted the furthest ship from us, then mustered to the airlocks. We put on EVA gear and as soon as we were close enough to the next ship, we boarded.” “Wasn’t ship boarding added to the prohibited activities of War after the Terran war?” “It was, but targeting civilians has always been among the prohibited activities of War, so we were still committing a lesser infraction. We blasted open the port hangar with a plasma charge, and cleared the first room. Then we cleared the rest of the ship up to the bridge and took out the last remaining light cruiser. Changed the comms channels to the ones we had on The Wolf’s Den, then modified the IFF tag accordingly. When we arrived at the Unkall station we had just left, they demanded an explanation, so we told them what happened.” “And you weren't reprimanded?”
“Oh, we were. There was even a small tribunal held to determine if we could still fight. That’s when the call came in. Rakthis had been attacked, with only a handful of survivors. I immediately got up and started heading to my ship. The Unkall admiral demanded to know where I was going. After calmly telling him that there was now a full scale war, we had work to do. I went to the hangar and got the light cruiser repaired and ready for combat, but not before renaming it. The Wolf’s Den was never destroyed, it just became another ship.”
“What happened next?” the Unkall boy asked. “Weren’t the forces around Rakthis said to be uncounted?”
“They were, that’s why we didn’t go to Rakthis. We went to Waalon instead. Then to Rek’lon, and finally to Scrurros. Everywhere we went, we pushed back the Gingral horde. My first mate, Sarah Callingham, had family on the outer colonies back in the Vrumoid war. Saw most of them killed in front of her when their shuttle was shot down leaving atmosphere on Vrall VII. Scrurros was a tough nut to crack, and she had more crafty ideas than I did. We landed The Wolf’s Den on the uninhabited side of the planet, then bought a grav truck from one of the farmers. It was hard to weld the armor plates on it at the right angle, but mounting the lasguns and mortar was rather simple. I stood in the back, manning two of the lasguns and the mortar while she and two other soldiers were up front in the cab. We got almost to the planetary capital before we faced any resistance.”
“But the history logs said that Scrurros didn’t fall until the later end of the war.” “That’s right. We couldn’t take the planet as easily as we’d taken the others. When the first mortar hit the shield on the planetary governance center, we knew we were in for a fight. We got the truck away with only a few shots on the armor, but we were pursued by the planetary militia. One of the armored gun trucks fired their heavy las gun and took out the rear grav drive. With the back end of the truck along the ground, our speed tanked to a crawl. I was able to keep the militia back for a while by pinning them down with the lasguns, but then another shot hit us, dead center mass.”
“How bad was it? Were you alright?”
“I made it out with only a few scratches, scrapes, and bruises, but Sarah and the others up front weren't so lucky. The shot penetrated the cab and blew up at the steering linkage. Only Sarah, myself, and the one crewman in the back with me made it out of that. We ducked into a nearby building for cover, only to find that it was a school. Not wanting to put the civilians in danger, we lightly dressed Sarah’s wounds and went on into the forest surrounding the city. We came to a cave at the foot of a mountain, and made camp inside.” “Who was the other crewman that was with you? I notice that you haven’t said his name yet.”
“His name was Richard Grumman. He was the newest addition to The Wolfpack, joining us less than a cycle ago. We hadn’t had much time to get to know each other. The Militia found us in the first week, and he was shot to death on the night they raided the cave. Sarah and I managed to get away, but we were far from being safe. The next night we got a transmission from The Wolf’s Den; They had been found, and were wondering what to do. Sarah and I were at least four days away from the ship, so I made the call and told them to leave while they had the chance, to keep fighting and never forget about us.” “So you willingly stranded yourself and an injured crewmate on a hostile planet just to save your crewmates? The stories about the Terrans must be true.” “You’ll learn that those stories don’t even tell half the story if you stick on a Terran ship for even half a cycle. Anyways, there we were, just me and Sarah on Scrurros. I treated her wounds the best I could, but she wasn’t getting much better. Eventually she died, less than half a cycle into our time on that world. I retired with her body to the farmer who sold us the truck, and paid him to let me bury Sarah on his property. Much like with the freighter, the Gingral would pay. I took stock of what I had. Two lasguns, three fragmentation grenades, an energy grenade, and a plasma charge. Not nearly enough to take on the forces of the planet, but maybe enough to make it possible.”
“So what did you do? The Gingral don’t just let prisoners get away. Especially not in the middle of a war.” “Well, I couldn't just storm the Planetary Governance Center. That would accomplish nothing but my own death. Instead I went for something better. Three grids away from the Governance Center was the Defense Center. The plan was simple. Get inside, break as much stuff as I could, and hope that was enough to take down their defenses. It took me ten days to reach the capital again, and another three to figure out how to get inside. Turns out the Gringal didn’t make their roof as secure as they should have. I opened up the ventilation system and got inside. From there it was a short trip to the bunker exterior.”
“Aren’t Gingral bunkers some of the hardest to break open in the entire galaxy? How did you get inside?” “Simple; I didn’t break in; I snuck in. I kicked out the vent and got inside the bunker, then closed and locked the door behind me and smashed the controls. There were only technicians and a few soldiers inside, who were easy enough to dispatch. The harder part was accessing the communications room. Aside from the door of the bunker itself, the communications room was the most secure place in the facility. The door was half a meter thick, and barred at six points. That would prove to be a great challenge, so I left it for later. I quickly found the controls to the weapons system, and took it down. The planet was now mostly defenseless against ships in orbit and low atmosphere.”
“So you took down the guns, but how did you get in?”
“The door was too hard to get through, so I made my own instead. I went above the room and opened up the three fragmentation grenades. Terrna frag grenades use a pressure sensitive explosive to detonate, so I poured it out above the room, then placed the plasma charge on top of it. I ducked out of the room and waited for the explosion. When that charge went off, it was as if the whole planet shook. When I went in to check on the hole, the charge had only just broken through the floor. It took hours for me to get the hole wide enough for me to wriggle inside, but it was worth it. I contacted the Unkall fleet, and they were there within the week. The planet fell and I was pulled from the bunker before the food and water stores were even dented.”
“So that’s why taking Scrurros was so easy for the fleet. There wasn’t as much resistance as the planet originally had. And you were the one to take it down?”
“That’s right. After the war, I was broken. My knees were all but useless for fighting, and I could barely stand without swaying. The Unkall empire never forgot what my crew and I did. We were paid many times more than what was written in our contract, and they even got me a home right here on Unkall Prime. Now I sit here, enjoying retirement in my old age. Though the Terran lifespan is almost 50 cycles, we’re usually out of our working years after only 30 cycles. Our bodies are too old and weak to do most of the hard tasks that we normally would.”
“So what do you do now? Surely after a life like yours you want to do something just as exciting after you’re done working.”
“I mostly just read now. When you spend your life as a soldier, you miss out on so much. I never settled down and had kids, and my time for that is even drawing to a close. I did take up a few hobbies here and there, but nothing really stuck. I still work part time for the Unkall empire, training their soldiers in virtual reality simulations is about all I can do, but I’ve given the Unkall the strength to protect their planets, and given their generals and admirals the knowledge not to go on any missions they will regret. I’m happy with the contributions I’ve made in my life, and if I had the chance, I’d do it all over again. By the way, I never did catch your name.”
“My name is Ruthal Nerzak, and I’m slotted to be a soldier in the Unkall Defense Force.”
“Well Ruthal, I hope we will meet again someday.”
With that, Ruthal stopped recording and went home, finishing his final report.
A few days later, Ukall prime came under attack. A colonial independence group made numerous strikes around the city, and Ruthal had been caught outside on his way home from class. He tried to run away, but was chased by one of the insurgents down an alleyway, when suddenly two lasgun shots rang out. Ruthal though he was dead, but he slowly opened his four eyes and saw that the terrorist was dead on the ground in front of him. Looking up, he was me with a familiar face
“Thank you Mr. Sturm, I thought I was surely dead.”
“Don’t thank me yet, we’re seven grids away from the nearest shelter, and there’s enemies all around us. You said you wanted to be a soldier, well your training just started early.”
Sturm handed Ruthal the lasgun from the dead insurgent, and after showing him how to fire and teaching him how to make sure it doesn’t overheat, he led the Unkall boy out of the alley and down the street. Two blocks later, Sturm pulled the Unkall boy into an alley.
“Alright son, listen up. There’s about fifty armed and angry people between us and shelter. Our espace routes have been mostly cut off, so I need you to listen to me and listen well. When I tell you to run, you run as fast as you can. We should be able to get past most of them by taking the alleys across the street. I picked up some kit off one of these guys. The flashbang should buy us enough time to cross the street, but I’ll have to think of something after we get to our next crossing.”
Sturm threw the flashbang far into the crowd of terrorists, blinding a dozen of them and allowing them to cross the street. After seeing how many insurgents were at their crossing point, Sturm and Ruthal entered a tall residence building across from a big shootout between the insurgent and Unkall forces.
“Alright, we don’t stand a chance of crossing that. Here’s the plan. We’ll get up high, and then open fire on them. If nothing else, we’ll draw their attention away from the defense forces and allow them to break through.”
“I can’t. They’re people, just like us.” “Look around you kid. There’s men, women, and children all gunned down by these guys. I’m not sure what that makes them in Unkall society, but to us Terrans, they’re no longer people; they’re monsters. As a soldier, our job is to get rid of the monsters, so that everyone can sleep soundly at night knowing they’re safe. Taking a life isn’t something one does lightly, but it’s still something that has to be done. It’s better that we take them out, because if we don’t, who knows how many more people they’ll kill. We don’t do this because we like killing, we do this because we love the people we protect, and we’d give anything to keep them safe.”
“But I don’t want to hurt them.”
“I understand. I’m not sure if the Unkall have a saying like this, but Terrans sure do. You have a big heart. You want to keep people safe, not put them in the ground. But sometimes the best way to keep people safe is to put bad people in the ground. We’re between a rock and a hard place. If we sit here and do nothing, they will continue to hold this street, but if we can take them down, even just one or two of them, we can make them fight on two sides, which is the easiest way to break through an enemy line. I recognize a few of the soldiers I can see from up here. I trained them myself. They’ll realize what’s going on and they’ll do the heavy lifting; we just need to give them a helping hand. So, are you ready?”
The young Unkall nodded, then Sturm and Ruthal braced their lasguns on the windowsill, and opened fire on the street below. As Sturm said, the insurgents shifted their position, attempting to defend against incoming fire from two directions. As the Unkall defense forces broke the lines, a single shot came from the street and hit Sturm in the neck
Bleeding badly, Sturm stumbled back, Ruthall catching him in his arms. As he was losing his grasp on consciousness, Sturm held Ruthalls hand
“Never forget what happened here. Never forget the atrocities you saw with your own eyes, and never be afraid to rise up against the monsters who make things like this happen.”
With that, Sturm closed his eyes. Unkall security forces soon burst into the room, seeing the state of the old Terran, they gave him the best aid they could, and sent him off to the hospital, with Ruthall at his side.
After a lengthy surgery and two pints of blood, Sturm woke up in his hospital room, Ruthall asleep on his lap. Colonel Rengar, a soldier in the Unkall defense forces entered the room.
“So Admiral, I see your retirement is going well.”
“Can the crap Colonel. How many did we lose?”
“Casualties are still being counted, but even one is too many.”
“And what about the boy, Ruthall. Why is he still here?"
"His family were among those killed in the attack. We haven’t told him yet, just that we’re still looking for them.”
“So what will happen to him?”
“We don’t know. He doesn’t have any living family, and in our culture friend’s do not step in for situations like these. He will likely be left to become an adoptee for some family here, but after this, I’m not sure who would adopt him.”
“I will.”
“What? You can’t be serious. The looks he would get, especially here in the capital. I’m not sure if he can take it.”
“He knows my story. He knows that I take care of the ones I call family. He didn’t hesitate to pick up a rifle and follow me through the streets today, and he only barely hesitated to fight beside me. He’ll make a fine soldier, and he’ll make a damn good son. Get me the documents dammit.”
“Very well.”
Ruthall woke up, and was told about what happened. He didn’t take his family dying too well, but was glad that he would not be alone. The next day that school was in session, Admiral Sturm put on his old Terran uniform, and walked his son into class. It was not easy adjusting to caring for a young Unkall child, but it was a change that Sturm was happy to make. He had known what it was like to be alone, and now he could keep Ruthall from knowing that pain.
The End
Let me know if you guys want a follow up series about Sturm and Ruthall on Unkall Prime, and how they live their lives together.

ULTRA LONG TIME TWIN HEADCANNONS
@sippin-on-waterfalls your post is ready
From Pokedash and Purplefern
Ooooooookay here we go.
_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
-Krux perceives time slower than others so he is easily late to events (plus he gets distracted and way into projects so he can easily lose track of time, ironically) so he could end up missing a lot of Elemental Alliance meetings
-Acronix made sure he informed Krux it was time to go (whenever he remembers, anyway) otherwise he’d be uber late all the time. Good thing they always go together
-Acronix is super early all the time because of his powers and he and Griffon Turner’s grandfather got along really well
-All the same, between lack of attention span, focusing on other things, and not caring for the meetings in general, Krux and Acronix miss a LOT of meetings
-Before alliance meetings Wu is training little Morro and the Twins and the Master of Speed just waltz in the monastery doors an hour early
-Acronix teaches Morro some sick fighting moves (some rather underhanded)
-Krux advises him to never let people get away with harm cause you are the most important thing in your life. (Revenge!)
-Wu be like plz stop encouraging my kid into violence and dishonorable tactics.
-Krux brought refreshments to an EA party exactly once. It was pickled beet tea and nobody liked it. He took it very personally.
-Back during the war, the love triangle with Misako was actually a love rectangle. Krux had a crush on her too but he literally had no idea how to act on it so his part of the rectangle was staring at her longingly from afar and not saying anything.
-Yes Acronix teased him immensely about this. And tried to act as a wingman several times but Krux swore if he did he would murder him
-Pre-series, Misako would do work for the museum a lot, so she ended up working with Sanders Saunders quite often. Despite her relationship to Wu and Garmadon and their “history”, he did like working with her ok
-They both also worked with the Explorer’s Club a lot, and have equal disdain for Cecil Putnam and Clutch Powers
-Krux hates Cecil’s stuffy rules (even though he couldn’t show it while being Dr Saunders) and Clutch’s….everything
-Krux’s doctorate is real, and he has a doctorate in History and and Master’s degree in Museum Studies
-He’s the Curator of History at the museum, and the other curator is the curator of natural sciences
-Acronix is a big nicknames guy. He doesn’t usually call people by their actual names. Only the people he actually cares about or that he super hates.
-But he also generally despises nicknames given TO him. The only people allowed to call him Nix/Nixie are  his brother and mother (and later Shannon).
-Krux only calls Acronix "Nix" if he's feeling particularly vulnerable/scared/etc (so like, when being the older twin isn't feeling that fun and he decides to ignore those 3 minutes and be more like the "younger" twin.) So this becomes a lot less as he becomes more arrogant.
-(Based on how he describes Dareth getting beat up by the Vermillion warrior) Krux likes watching wrestling. It’s a guilty pleasure of his
-And of course Acronix loves it once he learns about it, so the two watch it together
-Krux occasionally plays strategy board games. He tried to get Acronix into them but he found them boring.
-(Sometimes he’ll suck it up and play with him anyway, though.)
-Both are sass masters
-Both also like science
-But like completely different facets of science.
-Krux of course likes the more stable and earthy sciences. Biology and geology, ecology. Those elemental science that have always existed but we just haven’t yet understood them
-Krux is also a total history nerd. Things like paleontology and anthropology are also really interesting to him
-Yes he was a dinosaur kid. (Especially since dinosaurs had just started to be discovered back in his day.)
-Acronix of course likes advancement and the otherworldly sciences. Technology, Astronomy. Sure we build upon the discoveries of the past but what about creating something new for the future?
-Acronix does like bioengeneering since it is a new advancement but he knows saying so would make Krux grin with “I told you bio was cool” vibes
-Krux can engulf himself into his work or his schemes for days. As he is very patient.
-Acronix is less so. He sees time constantly moving forward so sitting idle to “Plan” seems a ridiculous waste of time.
-He jumps from activities quickly as the novelty of it wears off and he is always on a quest for what's new and what may work, not really what has been confirmed to work
-Krux of course sees this as a fool's errand. We need to respect the knowledge we have and use it and plan with it.
-But when they are in sync you should be SCARED
-Both thinking in the Present can make them in perfect harmony, Both in fighting and talking.
-Their different planning methods can help eachother get things done. So yes, when they work together you should be scared
-Krux can get really fixated on an idea, and get into major creative blocks. Acronix helps propose out of the box solutions that keep his ideas moving forwards that he wouldn’t have thought of himself.
-But as we see they can also be reeeeallly different and fight over the miniscule things.
-Krux lingers on Grudges easily as he physically cannot not put value to the events of the past.
-Acronix’s main grudge with the alliance came from his ego and arrogance, not his element. I think he feels very internally about wrongs to him in the moment but if he sees nothing really changed a couple of days later he loses interest in holding such a grudge easily
-Each of them have the ability to not be affected by the other’s powers
-Acronix has no patience to listen to anything he doesn’t want to hear. Back when he had his powers he COULD and WOULD just “skip” peoples’ dialogue if he got bored of it.
-Krux has a bad habit of “freezing” people if he feels like they’re interrupting him. Like, he will freeze people who are trying to get him to stop working on something while he’s trying to get something done, and then get back to them when he feels like it. Everyone has to work on his time. (Annoyingly, this does not affect his brother, which is why Acronix is the only one who can actually get him to stop working on his projects.)
-Whenever Krux & Acronix would hang out with Chen, Acronix loved messing with Clouse. Clouse reminds him of his brother, but even more stuffy and annoyed somehow, so he just has an instinctual urge to annoy him as much as possible.
-(Clouse does not appreciate this, but Master Chen says they’re “important” to his plan so Clouse just suffers quietly.)
-Acronix likes the Master of Speed, but also finds it annoying that he can resist his slo-mo powers by going really fast. (On the bright side, though, this does make him the closest thing to an equal he’ll get for a sparring partner, if Krux doesn’t want to train with him for whatever reason.)
-Because of his element, Sound is one of the rare people who doesn’t really mind Krux but REALLY dislikes Acronix. Acronix is just so loud all the time and it physically pains him because he is so sensitive to vibrations and volume. Krux is generally pretty quiet so doesn’t bug him as much.
-Acronix is an Entrepreneur (ESTP)  and Krux is an Architect (INTJ)
-They have no Feeling whatsoever
-Otherwise, they are complete opposites
-Both of these personality types hate rules, regulations, and micromanaging restricting authority figures (hmm, wonder why they broke away from the alliance…)
-Acronix is arrogant in the way that he doesn’t care about his flaws, because obviously he is awesome and everyone else is just jelly, Krux is arrogant in the way that he hates people pointing out his flaws, because shut up he doesn’t have any
-Their mother is Polaris, they take after her physically
-Father is Kronos, they got their powers and ego from him
-Their father actively encouraged them to have immense pride in their element -- being the former master of time himself
-Ordered them the sweet matching armor
-He was a samurai back in his day, which is why the Twims wore samurai helmets.
-Between their two loving parents, the Twims were nearly spoiled
-Krux and Acronix grew up pretty rich, Kronos was pretty much high society and Polaris was too
-They went to a fairly fancy private school growing up
-But everyone there were snobs so they didn’t get along well with their classmates (what a surprise)
-Their parents died in a skirmish with Serpentine, leading the Twims to join the alliance full of vengeance.
-Acronix has a battle scar from being grazed by an anacondrai sword on his left pec cause I said so
-Also a lot of misc snake bit scars and a burn scar from that one time (Ray’s got a bad temper and Acronix likes pressing people’s buttons, so that went super well)
-Acronix super cares about his looks so has a ton of, like, haircare and beauty products. Krux has a single bottle of 3-in-1 and a bar of soap and says that that’s sufficient.
-Back in the day Acronix had a bunch of oils and whatever for his hair, and when he’s in the present he’s got a bunch of fancy shampoos and such.  He’s definitely the vain one of the two twins
_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
A collection of Neurodivergent Twims HCs
-Acronix has ADHD and Krux is autisitc
-Acronix is early, but only to things he remembers. He often forgets dates. And Krux will get involved with something else, and has a warped sense of time. Together, the two miss a lot of EM meetings
-And when they’re at them, neither of them are good at conversations. Acronix talks a mile a minute and doesn’t let anyone get a word in edgewise. Krux either doesn’t talk to anyone or similarly dominates conversation and doesn’t let anyone else talk.
-The two also get sent on solo missions alot
-They don’t focus well in a group setting (Acronix generally ignoring the plan for what he prioritizes as the better option and krux simply not being popular with the others and only really battling well beside his brother)
-They are generally strong enough to protect a village by themselves
-The other EM work better with them out of the way since they are “annoying” and no one really likes their arrogance, pride, or entire personhood
-They seem to be happier working only together than with the whole group
-Once during a group charge on a collection of Serpentine races Acronix notices a horde heading in a different direction and follows them impulsive
-All of these things together make them especially unpopular with the other EMs
-Especially with the Master of Ice, who considers their actions disrespectful and often scolds them on their behavior
-Krux and Acronix can BOTH get hyperfixated on things they are interested in, and can also forget to eat and sleep.
-Acronix struggles with insomnia a lot because his brain doesn’t shut up. Luckily his brother never really sleeps either. They spend a lot of long nights talking about nonsense
-Acronix tries to use time skip powers to not waste time while sleeping. He skips the night, but he still didn’t get sleep. He crashes after a few days of this and Krux tells him that he’s a moron
-Acronix has a fidget spinner, which he got for the memes but ended up finding unironically helpful, and gives Krux a fidget cube (which Krux reluctantly accepts and actually does use pretty often.)
-Before learning what a fidget spinner was he would flip his phone a lot. It was both an easily accessible stim and assurance he knew where it was cause he tended to leave things around at random.
-Krux used nail-biting as a stim, mostly because it can appear pretty neurotypical
-Acronix is “annoying” around the ninja during his lil redemption arc, but instead of reacting like the elemental masters, the Ninja actually do research and come to an understanding (especially Zane, who is perceptive, understanding, and has an instantaneous link to the internet).
-Altogether he’s a little surprised when they actually put effort into tolerating and understanding his differences. Huh. How’s bout that?
-Jay is also pretty understanding, he’s got a lot of nd cousins and has ADHD himself so it’s kinda just *shrugs*
-Modern dyes and preservatives really trigger Acronix’s ADHD to be even worse than usual.
-Zane picks up on this, and like the mother hen that he is starts to put in a special effort to keep dyes away from Acronix (or to keep Acronix away from dyes, as the case may be)
-Jay has a similar problem with dyes (which Edna let the Ninja know about, thanks a lot ma ) so Zane works double time to keep them both away from dyes
-Makes special dishes that are “ADHD safe”
-Neither appreciate it (well Jay does but will complain openly at every chance he gets)
-Acronix got into a lot of trouble with their dad when he was a kid, because he just couldn’t pay attention
-Has bursts of anger a lot, oftentimes this happens during things like parties or pre-meeting conversations. (which easily leads to him getting a label of “aggressive” or “hotheaded” by the EMs)
-DEFINITELY struggles with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria
-Ninjago history is Krux’s special interest
-Krux freezes people around him when he needs a sec to destim
-Krux is pretty high-functioning, but is on the borderline. He's high-functioning enough to be aware of himself and mask, but not enough to avoid things like shut/melt downs
-Acronix is fiercely protective of his brother whenever he shuts down. Messing with Krux while he's like that (whether the antagonist is aware or not) is a one way ticket to his wrath as well as physical punishment.
-Whenever things got too intense at a meeting/party type thing, Acronix would ditch and sneak them both out whenever Krux was heading towards a shut down. Being the awesome supportive twin that he is, he learned to pick up on the signs of one and was certain to prevent them pretty much whenever possible.
-Acronix failed in his efforts only once (he was kind of sick that day and wasn’t at the top of his game to be keeping a watchful eye on his bro), and Krux kind of ended up time freezing a few of the EMs in the process. It was something the elemental masters (or Krux himself)  did not soon forget or forgive.
-He'll go nonverbal sometimes, to the minor aggravation of the alliance. Sign language isn't a thing yet so anyone trying to understand him when he's like this are pretty much reliant on Acronix and his twin sense to translate.
-When their parents died Krux went nonverbal for a little over a month.
-Krux was pretty delayed in learning to speak, he didn’t say his first word until he was 3 ¼
-Even during his redemption arc, Acronix does not tell the Ninja about Krux's autism, from a built in fear that the knowledge would be used against him in possible future battles. (Also because he knows Krux wouldn't want them to know.)
-Krux doesn't just hate phones because “ugh technology”, he also just hates talking on the phone because it’s super difficult
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK there are way more that we have but... did you know there is actually a word limit on Tumblr? Heh heh... If you want more Twim goodness you can read our extensive fanfic collection... or maybe we’ll make a part two (That’ll probably consist of Home life pre-war stuff, post-canon AU junk, Vermillion family nonsense, and more random stuff)
