M9 Reunion thoughts:
- I was woefully unprepared for Beau finding Imogen attractive. I am deceased.
- Fearne and Laudna would love the Blooming Grove so much
- Beauyasha in an open relationship discussion feeds fanwriters for moons to come
- I miss Veth but LUC
- I need a convergence of all three parties bc: Beau, Yasha, Imogen, Fearne. Jester and Fearne. Fearne and Caduceus. Fjord and Chet meeting. Scanlan and Jester meeting. Vex being endlessly amused. Percy being endlessly annoyed. Keyleth and Caduceus and Pike meeting. Yasha and Grog arm wrestling.
- Just imagine how worried all the regular Sending receivers are rn at the sudden peace and quiet in their minds :(
- Aggy was hilarious. Does anyone know if he lasted long than Spurt??
- Beauyasha moments for the win!
- YASHA DOING 160 POINTS OF DAMAGE IN ONE HIT?!!!!
- okay, but Caleb having to relive that trauma made me so upset. If someone did that with my mother I’d burn the world around them to ash
- is Essek okay?
- Cad’s Divine Intervention was AMAZING
- Luc was amazing! The Enlarge on the T-Rex was epic. Great dnd choice.
- Laura’s dice mostly love Imogen but hate Jester when it matters 😭 but Marisha’s dice hate Laudna and love Beau lol
- FORJESTER PROPOSAL IM SCREAMING CRYING EATING DRYWALL
Final thoughts: now that the M9 knows of the threat ruidis poses, I hope we get more cameos in campaign 3 with them. Imogen deserves the chance to meet Beauyasha. And so does Fearne. I hope we get a wedding oneshot sooon! I’d also love to see more of Luc. I was hoping we’d see the Wildmother send both Fjord and Caduceus the same warning the Changebringer and Dawnfather sent FCG and Deanna, hopefully that’s expanded soon.

Top 10 TV Shows You Need To Watch Right Now
Tumblr media
Now, I watch a lot of television. I always have and frankly, I’m much more of a binge watcher than a wait-around-for-a-week-for-the-next-episode kind of watcher.
And with everything the past few months, there wasn’t all that much to do other than start rewatching some of my favorite shows and some that I’ve never seen or haven’t seen in a while.
So, that’s what I did and here I am giving you some recommendations for shows to add to your own watching lists.
Warning, though, some of these don’t end the best way and may end up more as a disappointment. I’ll leave that up to you to decide.
Tumblr media
I. Fringe.
I cannot recommend this show enough to people. It’s got five full seasons (although the last could’ve been a little better, but it’s honestly not that bad of a final season) of high-risk scenarios revolving around almost unexplainable phenomena regarding a tear in the fabric of reality. It deals with experiments that gives superpowers (basically), advanced technology, and a parallel universe.
Plus, there’s a cow.
What more could you want from a show?
Some familiar faces that are in the main cast or show up at some point include John Noble, who you may recognize from Sleepy Hollow and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Lance Reddick, who was in The Wire, White House Down, American Horror Story, and played Charon in the John Wick franchise, Leonard Nimoy, who you should know from the original Star Trek series, and Anna Torv from Mindhunter.
Tumblr media
II. Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector.
Now, if you know crime books, you may know exactly what this is based off of. If not, fear not, I am here to tell. This series (which, like a lot of the others down the list, unfortunately, got cancelled and won’t get to see a second season) was based off of The Bone Collector, a first in a series of novels by Jeffery Deaver.
If you like crime shows, you should definitely give this a shot. Don’t let the fact that it’s only one season stop you.
Things get pretty wild in just one season as it revolved around a retired forensic criminologist, who had been trying to catch the Bone Collector only to get injured, that gets back into the game three years later when an ambitious young detective is determined to help solve the case when a new body shows up.
You might even recognize a face or two, like Arielle Kebbel (the ambitious young detective) from her role as Lexi in The Vampire Diaries and Olivia Charity in Midnight, Texas, and Russell Hornsby (the retired forensic criminologist) from Grimm, The Hate U Give, Proven Innocent, and The Affair.
Tumblr media
III. Manifest.
Luckily, this show is said to be getting a third season and so far, isn’t going to get cancelled. It focuses on passengers from Flight 828, who show up five years after their plane went missing. Some passengers start experiencing what they call ‘callings’ and try to figure out if they were chosen for some sort of duty that the callings led them too, but things get a little confusing when someone who wasn’t on a flight seems to have a year missing of their own life after being deemed missing.
Things get a little weird and dangerous along the way, and not everyone is happy about how things turn out.
It’s pretty interesting and I’m really looking forward to what else they come up with. There’s a few familiar faces that play a part in the show that includes Daryl Edwards, who you may recognize from the first season of Daredevil, Ellen Tamaki who is also in the reboot of Charmed, Athena Karkanis, who’s been in The Expanse and Lost Girl, and Josh Dallas, who one may recall playing Prince Charming in Once Upon a Time, and Fandral in Thor.
It’s a rather good show to get lost in and I definitely recommend giving it a go.
Tumblr media
IV. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
If you don’t have an idea as to what this show is, I don’t know what to say. The title kind of gives it away. It’s the only Marvel Show (as of now since none of the shows in production have come out as of yet) to technically be connected to the MCU itself.
That’s found in one of the main characters, Phil Coulson, who you’d recognize from Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and The Avengers. Plus, Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) both give a cameo in the show.
The show was rumored to have been set in a different, but similar, timeline to that of the MCU movies, but I don’t know for sure if it’s true or not.
It follows its own set of issues, including a deeper dive into the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., issues with HYDRA, and so on and so forth. The last season, which I honestly cried during, gives such good twists and callbacks to previous seasons and the MCU movies that you can’t help but enjoy how it’s handled.
As a show, it probably has one of the best final seasons possible and I highly recommend giving the full seven seasons a watch if you haven’t already.
Tumblr media
V. Primeval.
Now, if you like dinosaurs, this is a show for you. It’s BBC, so obviously everyone has an accent. It gave a run of five seasons (which is kind of funny because I didn’t realize that until just now writing this as the show is listed as number five on the list) with different episode amounts.
The show centers around anomalies that seem to open up a window to the very distant past of Earth when dinosaurs still roamed the land. It causes a lot of issues, especially if one person has anything to do with it.
It’s pretty interesting and honestly has got some great characters (my personal favorite is Captain Becker, played by Ben Mansfield) and while it can get pretty serious, it’s also pretty entertaining. It’s one of the three shows on this list to get to end on a good-ish note. (AKA, no cliffhangers!)
Obviously, I highly recommend giving it a shot. It’s kind of the point of this list.
Tumblr media
VI. Terra Nova.
Now, like Primeval, this show technically has to do with dinosaurs. Dinosaurs aren’t the main focus, but they do play a part in this one season (because cancellations) story.
Terra Nova is focused on both the future and the past. In the distant future (2149), the Earth is dying. A group of people, researchers, and military as well as some of their family members, are sent to the past (85 million years) to inhabit Terra Nova, a colony of humans given a second chance to build civilization.
So, obviously, dinosaurs are going to make an appearance now and then. And unfortunately, the show only got one season and ends on a cliffhanger. Which I hate, because I really enjoy this show and wish it had been able to at least get a second season.
Plus, there are some familiar faces amongst the cast. Jason O’Mara, who plays one of the main cast members, played Jeffrey Mace in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Christine Adams, who plays Lynn Pierce in Black Lightning. Allison Miller, who played Sonya in 13 Reasons Why. And Naomi Scott, who is known for her roles in Lemonade Mouth (one of my all-time favorite DCOMs) and Aladdin. And this was just to name a few of the cast members.
Shame it got cancelled, truly, but I recommend giving it a shot.
Tumblr media
VII. MTV’s Scream.
I think you can figure out the basis of this show. While it doesn’t have anything to do directly with the movie franchise, it is kind of similar and a lot of the characters reflect those from the show. Neve Campbell even said that if the show did well, she would be willing to do a cameo.
It revolves (at least the first two seasons as season three is an entirely different set of cast and premise that I refuse to watch because of that) around Emma Duval and her group of friends as they’re picked off one by one by a serial killer going around town. Things get bloody and suspicions arise amongst the crew when things are revealed as the show continues, but things eventually work out in the end.
And personally, I really enjoyed the show even when the second season ended on a cliffhanger. I have theories about that cliffhanger, however, so watch out for a possible post regarding it.
I highly recommend giving it a chance if you haven’t seen it.
Tumblr media
VIII. The Society.
Now, the title doesn’t give you much. A group of teenagers, who were sent off on a trip, suddenly are dropped back off in their town to find it completely empty aside from themselves. They have to form their own society to survive and figure things out.
Once you know that, it makes a little more sense.
It seems really similar to the Pied Piper tale, but it doesn’t seem like we’re going to really know for sure. Season 2 had been given a go-ahead, but not too long ago Netflix announced the cancellation of the show.
That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the first season like I do. Plus, if you’re a fan of Supernatural and the character of Claire Novak, Kathryn Newton plays one of the main roles in this show.
It’s a shame the show got cancelled, especially on a cliffhanger, but what can we do?
Tumblr media
IX. The Mysteries of Laura.
Laura Diamond, a Homicide Detective, cracks case after case while trying to raise twin boys and locking horns with her less than helpful Police Detective ex-husband. At least, this is according to IMBD and frankly, it’s not really wrong.
For two seasons, it’s packed with comedy and crime. It’s more of the former, but it still gets pretty serious every now and then, and unfortunately ends on a cliffhanger.
However, some cast members may be familiar. Like Josh Lucas, who voices Home Depot commercials (and trust me, it made my family laugh when we first heard one after watching the show), Laz Alonso who plays MM in The Boys, and Debby Ryan, from Disney Channel.
If you like light-hearted crime shows (like Brooklyn-Nine-Nine) you should definitely give this a watch.
Tumblr media
X. Warrior Nun.
As far as I know, this show has been renewed for a season two. I’m really hoping for it because it’s honestly kind of interesting. You can kind of tell by the title what it may be, but I’ll dive a little deeper.
After waking up in a morgue, Ava, an orphaned teen, discovered she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns. (Taken from IMDB). Interesting, right?
With characters like Shotgun Mary, Sister Beatrice, and Sister Lilith, you know the show’s going to be interesting. But the premise is pretty interesting on it’s own too.
There’s even a character called JC, who apparently has nothing to do with Jesus Christ, but I still like referring to him as such because it’d be pretty funny if that’s how it turns out. Also, someone gets beat up with a whole chicken at some point.
It’s only got the one season so far, but it’s pretty funny and action packed. Like everything on this list, I definitely think you should watch it and find out for yourself if you want to add it to your list if you haven’t already.

Movie Review: Avengers Endgame
I’m already tagging it with like four different spoiler tags, but just in case someone who hasn’t gotten to see it yet forgot to block spoilers, review under the cut:
The short of it first: I love this movie. I, however, also hate this movie. There were many wonderful things about it and many things I disliked or that upset me. Overall however, I think the balance made for a perfect ending to the MCU. (Which, makes me feel really weird about the fact that there will be... more MCU.)
Fair warning, this review will not be in any particular order, more like... what comes to mind. Because there was just so much happening in it. So I’ll bolt the particular hero each section will be about, for easier navigation.
First things first, we gotta talk about the time paradox. Look, I know it’s not a plothole, it was very much intentional, they set it up from the moment Bruce met the Anient One, however it still drives me insane that they killed Thanos from 2014 and... it changed nothing in their time.
If Thanos from 2014 is dead, he can never even go and collect the Infinity Stones and this entire reality should cease to exist. The Ancient One’s explanation on how removing something from the past leads to a split timeline makes little sense to me, because it first and foremost should change this timeline.
I know it’s most likely meant to set up the multiverse - the x-Men, it’s going to be used to work in the X-Men, probably also the Fantastic Four. But the lack of explanation as to why changing your own past does not affect your present time was rather... frustrating for me.
Same goes for “Loki escapes punishment in 2012 with the stone”. How did the stone end up in the 70s then? And what impact does this have on the Thor timeline? Will he wreak more havok? Or change to good earlier?
For a movie working the primary angle of time-travel, answers about the paradox created were... too scarce for my taste.
IRON FAMILY
That being said: My Tony Stark stanning ass is absolutely living for the fact that Tony just... solved time-travel in one night, casually, like it’s nothing.
And as such, I gotta talk Tony first, don’t I?
I am now 100% the Tony-Nebula friendship that everyone was expecting after Infinity War and in the reality I will be accepting from hereon out, Nebula and Tony get to stray friends.
Though, a dynamic I did not expect to absolutely love and stan is Rhodey and Nebula! Oh, that was so good. Generally, Rhodey in this movie was so good. He is usually just treated as the add-on to Tony and in this movie, he was... so much more than that and seemed to stand on his own a lot. (Yes, he’s still in this section because he is still part of the Iron Family so sue me.)
At first, I was honestly frustrated that Pepper was just... The Wife And Mother and seemed to have so little... input into things. Like, support, brainstorm along with them, anything. She deserved to be more than that.
I genuinely don’t have an opinion on Morgan. Like, yay, Tony got to be a dad, but also she was just such a generic Child with no defining personality traits, which granted, there was no time in this movie to establish that, but having no time is not an excuse for shortcomings.
What really broke me was Peter though. Peter being the reason Tony invents time-travel, even though it could mean losing Pepper, losing Morgan, losing his own life - Peter is what pushes him over the edge into helping. And then the reunion. The hug, the confusion on Peter’s face. And gods did it wreck me when Peter cried over Tony’s body.
I mean, generally, Tony’s death wrecked me. I’m starting to cry again as I write these words. I fully admit that it was perfect. There is virtually no better way to have Tony Stark go out than by him single-handedly in the most literal way possible saving the entire planet and the universe, with his last line being “I am Iron Man” as he wields the Infinity Stones - seriously, if you watched this movie and still try to post Anti Tony shit, I have to wonder what movies you even watch because this entire damn franchise literally rests on his shoulders, holy shit.
It was... It was the most perfect ending for Tony possible. But I still hate that it ended. I wanted an Ironheart movie where he mentors a potential Riri Williams for the future of the MCU, I wanted Tony cameos in future Spider-Man movies, I... wanted him to get the chance to grow old and see his daughter grow up.
But holy shit that funeral. Everyone. Just... everyone. Even Harley. Which, admittedly, I only figured out after wrecking my brain for an hour trying to figure out who that lanky brunette kid was that stood around alone and then remembering that Harley should have had a cameo in this movie too and--oh. That... that was really a deep dig for the Iron Man stans and I wished it had been a tiny bit more prominent. Like, having him and Peter talk, even just for a brief moment, about Tony, to remind us who Harley is and what those two have in common. That’d have been a nice touch.
TEAM ANT
Scott being the one to come up with time-travel as the solution was kind of hilarious to me, considering he isn’t a scientist and he has never encountered time-travel before. (I mean, Stephen literally introduced time-travel to some of them as a thing that is possible before.)
Legit, one of the two only times I cried in this movie was when Scott searched for Cassie’s name on the memorial and then was reunited with her. Paul Rudd played it so well and so heavy with emotions, it was amazing.
Hope, well, due to having been dusted, she got a shorter end of the stick. Which, in itself, should not make me salty because obviously did the dusted ones not play a huge part in the movie - but the fact that she was dusted to begin with, seriously, they dusted more female characters than they did male characters and there are already so few female characters and I am still salty that in a movie called Ant-Man and the Wasp it was entirely about one Wasp getting un-fridged just to then have them kill off two Wasps.
I have to admit, I have a certain saltiness that while Hank got a cameo in the 70s, Janet again was not deemed important enough. She got a non-speaking role to just... stand there during Tony’s funeral. That’s it.
TEAM CAP
Steve. Gotta admit, this movie brought me back to St0ny. Civil War completely killed that ship for me, but I really, truly loved how they worked Steve and Tony together again in this movie. From the first confrontation when the ship lands, to Tony screaming at Steve in the compound and them then slowly rekindling again. Because the emotional outburst was needed and deserved and had it not come, something would have felt... cheap.
I’m not sure how I feel about how they solved things with him and Peggy. Honestly, I’m so tired that Peggy post the first Captain Marvel is literally just Steve’s Love Interest, even though she was so much more. When she appears, it’s only to dance with Steve or to be sad about Steve and it’s... frustrating. And I don’t know how much they just changed her life by having her and Steve get married in the 70s. Not to mention, uh, what did Steve do in the past 50 years? Just hide out at home? Since Captain America’s face is kind of recognizable.
Look, Steve and Peggy getting married and growing old together, being happy together, is absolutely the dream ending for Steve’s storyline. Genuinely. But this was too big a thing to be so casually handled. The ripple-effect that two Steves in one timeline have, the implication that this Steve really did give up fighting bad guys, during four decades where no Captain America was there to help, it’s... so very, very vague. I know there was no time to dive into this in full length, obviously, but that doesn’t quite excuse it.
I love that he handed the shield off to Sam though. He is easy to establish as the new Captain America since we all already know him and honestly, the only two options would have been Sam or Bucky - and... please just let Bucky retire, that boy’s been through too many decades of shit don’t force him to live up to Steve now, so yeah, Sam is the better fit there.
That being said, Bucky. I liked that Steve handed the shield off to Sam, but I was missing a proper Steve-Bucky reunion. Bucky nudging Sam to talk to old!Steve and even before that, after getting undusted, there was... nothing. After 75% of Steve Rogers’ plotline in the MCU being centered around Bucky Barnes, the least they could have done would have been a proper, heartfelt reunion and a last conversation between the two. So Steve didn’t want to tell Sam about the marriage? One more scene. One where Bucky sits down next to Steve and Steve tells Bucky about his life with Peggy, even if just shortly, but... that was something that was missing, for me.
Clint was... there. I just... I don’t know, man. He was out there murdering criminals for five fucking years and they couldn’t track one archer during all that time and now he’s supposed to go back play house with Laura? I honestly, genuinely would have preferred that they killed him off at that point.
Also because Natasha deserved better. They fridged her. They took the only female member of the original team and basically killed her off for the others’ man-pain. Seeing those five guys crying about her at the lake felt like really nothing but fridging. She died so they could have the stone, she died so Clint lost her - that was literally the only note on that. She died so Clint would lose her. That’s the definition of fridging and it makes me mad, because apparently during those five years, she was like a leader to everyone else.
I was, honestly, ready for them to spin off a female Avengers team after this movie. Led by Natasha. And that they did her dirty like that makes me mad.
Wanda was also in this movie. She was badass, that’s something. (This is literally the nicest you will ever hear me say about MCU!Wanda.)
WAKANDA
They really did Wakanda dirty. Mainly so because they did them dirty in Infinity War already - aside from Okoye, they literally killed off every single significant cast-member from Black Panther.
Shuri, I’ll hand it to you they had to kill off because otherwise Steve and co would have had an alternative to go to instead of Tony and thus they wouldn’t have brought the team together as they planned. But the way she was treated after? She didn’t even have a speaking role in this movie, damn it. Not even... one line... She and Peter never got to interact. She got a bit of action, but not much.
T’Challa at least had a speaking role, but also suffered from having been dusted in the previous movie and thus only getting ridiculously little screentime.
M’Baku! He had one scene. He ran through the screen once. That was it. That’s just... ridiculous. He didn’t even get a major throw-down or anything.
And Okoye? The only undusted one? I am genuinely disappointed that she was not part of the team. They got the whole gang together, but the gang didn’t include anyone who wasn’t an OG Avenger or a Guardian. Valkyrie and Okoye should have been brought onto the team too.
Never mind Nakia, she didn’t even get a cameo at the end like the queen did. She was just like... Sharon Carter and Jane Foster: Not found. And yes, I get it, you can’t get all 200 MCU cast members, that doesn’t make it less frustrating when key characters are just... missing.
THE ASGARDIANS
The humor around every Bruce and Thor scene was... very Ragnarök. That’s not a compliment. It’s jarring, considering that this is an Avengers movie and I would have preferred their regular characterization over that one-off movie one with its... strange, cringey humor.
Seriously, they did Bruce so dirty. He was little more than a punchline. He’s a genius scientist, but now he’s a poser in the body of the Hulk who rather takes pictures with fans? And who completely screws up time-travel - but don’t worry, it’s hilarious so it’s okay.
And I better not start with Thor. Look, I approve of the fact that he grieved, that he was shown to not handle shit well. But... the extend in which he didn’t handle shit well was... not satisfying for me, but that’s a matter of taste I suppose. I didn’t like that he killed Thanos off just like that when Nebula was right there - and yes, Thor lost a lot, but Nebula would have had the right to kill him off and Thor took that away from her.
I did love his conversation with Frigga though. That was... incredibly well-handled and very nice and exactly what he needed to get at least most of his shit together again.
Though it really frustrates me how... ridiculous it was that he didn’t save Frigga. What makes anyone who got dusted more worthy of being saved? They died too. They were killed off too. It was a legitimate kill. But here, you decided that going back in time to save them is okay. When Thor however gets to be right there and have the chance to also save his mom... that’s a no-no? Why? That’s bullshit. You are altering things, saving people who died, but you get picky about what people get saving? Fuck off.
Valkyrie was... why was she not part of the team. They went and picked up Thor for the mission. They sent Bruce to pick up Thor, Bruce who knows Valkyrie the best after Thor. Why would he not also take her with them because they could have needed the backup?
And I don’t know how to feel about her as a king either. Maybe... Maybe let the Asgardians vote? Try democracy if you say you no longer have monarchy? You can’t just... appoint the next king like that.
Where exactly did her pegasus come from, by the way? I mean, did they have time to save the stables in Asgard too...? Just, where?
Also on the note of characters who didn’t make it into the movie I’d like to give honorary mentions to Sif, who I love and dearly miss and also would have wanted to meet Valkyrie.
THE GUARDIANS
Same as with Cap and Bucky, I was salty that Rocket and Groot did not get a heartfelt reunion.
And that Quill getting to see Gamora again was handled as a joke despite just how... emotionally loaded it could have been.
Drax and Mantis were... also in this movie, I guess. Some of the dusted characters came out shorter than the others.
Also, I really don’t know how I feel about Thor joining the Guardians, to be quite honest. Not... my favorite idea, because him and Quill have such a bad, obnoxious dynamic and it was already annoying during Infinity War and now during Endgame and both had like... five minutes of it. An entire movie with it would just give me a fucking migraine.
FEMALE AVENGERS TEAM??
And also, on the note of a female Avengers team - that group-shot of every female hero looked really fucking epic, I had tears in my eyes when Okoye repeated Natasha’s words from Infinity War; She’s not alone. That was... that was a bit much for me, but personally, I found it really undersold.
They took the time out of this movie to show us a shot we have all already seen. That big epic “first time of all the Avengers in one scene” shot.
They had the time for that, but they didn’t fully give that to the girls. It was clear they were trying to recreate that moment with the female Avengers, but it was such a split-second image - the least they could have done then would have been to give it a proper spin, to pause, to really show it off. Show off what female heroes Marvel has to offer right then and there.
And yes. They absolutely had the time for that. They could have just cut the damn shot that we have all already seen in favor of this new one, for example.
And since now seems to be as good a time as any, let’s talk about Captain Marvel and her hair. I love it. It made my lesbian heart really very happy.
Part of me hated that she was off-world for most of the movie, most of me knows on a rational level that the had to have her off-world or else things would have ended too quickly. And I liked how they explicitely pointed it out in-universe too, through Rocket and Carol.
Stephen was also in this movie. Not very much due to having been dusted and not actually doing a lot, but him telling Tony what to do was... It made me cry some more. And I guess Wong also got a brief cameo.
IN CONCLUSION:
So, on the overall, I complain a lot about how the dusted ones came short, how certain emotional scenes could have been deepened.
There would have been an easy solution to that. Make one more movie. Make this finale a trilogy instead of a two-parter. There were so many characters with individual plotlines in this movie and they deserved to be heard. Endgame should have been a two-parter in my opinion.
Also, I don’t like the five years time-jump. I just... yes, yes, big tragedy, lots of people dead, but somehow I find it incredibly unrealistic that five years into the future, the world would be slowly turning dystopian and no one moved on even a little bit? Life... Life would go on, somehow. And this made it look like it just didn’t.
I’d have had an easier time had they put this one year later, but I guess then Morgan couldn’t have been an adorable girl and would have just been a screechy baby so they needed the time-jump, huh.
Still I think five years was too much on the overall. Clint out there, murdering criminals for five years without being caught by the Avengers?
But yes, in the overall, I really did enjoy the movie. While some things came to short, they still put a pleasant amount of focus on the emotions and dynamics. It was heartfelt, emotional, sad, it gave Tony and Steve both the end they deserved. It did however still include a lot of things that didn’t sit right with me or that I thought were fault and I do still require a more elaborate explanation on the time paradox.
The total sum of this movie however was the perfect ending for the MCU. Which... is actually kind of a problem considering there is more MCU happening? And while, yes, I am totally here for Captain Marvel 2 and Black Panther 2, I... honestly... am basically done with the rest? And those two mainly due to the quality of their first movies and the fact that they happen isolated. Space and Wakanda. Not... yet another story in New York but this time without the Avengers you know and miss now.

Chapter 12: Cameos
“…Why don’t you sit down, Abigail,” Will began, and he gestured lamely towards the table. There wasn’t a clock in the room, the only relief to the stiff, awkward silence the rumbling sound of the heater kicking on. It was broken, but Charlie said they’d fix it when he had a damn good reason to fix it. As long as US Weekly kept hitting the top spot, they’d not earn a repairman.
Most people just wore layers to work.
Abigail surveyed him critically as she circled the table and sat down. Despite the slight appearance, wavery and almost water-like in its rippling, it was her eyes that grabbed him. They were cold, ice cubes that’d been long forgotten and left to stick to the sides of the freezer. Will wondered if she was much like him, rumpled and slumped but ultimately rotten from the inside out.
“I got your reply,” she said as Will slumped into the seat across from her. “It was…different.”
           “Different?”
           “You didn’t sound apologetic.”
He rolled her words around in his head and weighed them, considering her. She looked to be about eighteen or so, just barely out of high school. How honest could he be? How honest should he be? There were laws about what someone could or couldn’t say in front of minors, right?
God, why the fuck had Charlie left him alone with a kid? Why had this sounded like a good idea on his part?
Given the flavor of his thoughts, Will figured he should tread very, very carefully. He was already in the shit hole with Charlie for being late. He didn’t want to risk Freddie and Charlie venturing into the basement level to promote the other Will to ‘Will Intentions’ instead.
“I do regret that it led to the death of your mother,” he said at last, and his voice softened. “I know what it’s like to grow up without parents.”
           “I grew up with parents.”
“Then to lose them, I’m sure, is not easy.”
“Are you serious right now?” she asked. Her voice darkened, hit hard and fell onto the table between them, accusing.
           “…What?”
At his stupefied expression, she reached into her messenger bag and withdrew a much abused, much reread paper. It’d been folded into a small square that she opened with the familiarity of a person that knew which way to turn it. She cleared her voice, stiffened her spine, and curled her lip. He wondered if she’d taken a plane or a car, whether they let kids her age travel alone on trains. He wondered if she’d read it by lamplight, passing over alcohol-abused words that he’d foolishly woven together late at night alone in his apartment. God, he should have at least proofread it.
“You said, ‘I wonder what it is that you feel, Abigail, since you shared that you don’t feel much at all. In my own darkest moments, I find myself consumed with either entirely too many emotions to process or not enough to address my problems.
‘In regards to your father, I can honestly say that I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. To say that that simple article has set my own life into a tailspin would be an understatement, but I can only fathom when I’m eating dinner alone in my apartment what it must be like for you to also have to eat alone now. I know institutions such as the one you’re likely contained within, and I know the thoughts likely pervading your mind. ‘What’s going to happen to me?’ you’re probably wondering. ‘Was this somehow my fault?’
‘When you feel nothing, is there a hollowness inside of you that continues reaching ever-onward, grasping, or is it that there is so much in so little a time that you feel as though you’ve simply shut down, your mind refusing to acknowledge its trauma in order to protect you? I wonder about things like that, especially since first receiving your e-mail. I wonder about your future, your hopes, your dreams. I wonder about your father and how even in his most horrific moments, he must have loved you very much to kill every girl he could find that looked like you, simply to cherish you just awhile more.
‘Mostly, though, Abigail, I wonder if you were aware that you were a lure, or if you’re actually the picture of utmost innocence that most of the news and society has decided you to be.’”
When she finished reading, she laid the paper onto the table and stared at him, hard.
Will wasn’t sure how to feel, hearing his words read aloud and in the quiet of a room whose clock was broken –had been for months. Charlie hadn’t replaced it, and he wouldn’t anytime soon. He glanced to his wrist. No watch. No time.
His writing was harsh, though, accusing. His words weren’t apologetic in the least –accusatory, more like. Striking out because he’d been struck, in truth, by words that smarted. Did he care about people? Not for awhile. Did he even stop to consider her when he published that answer in Beverly’s column? No. Hell, he hadn’t even realized it would have taken off the way that it did –if anything, he thought Charlie would have fired him for stepping out of the ‘Wedding Announcements’ cubicle.
“You want to talk about condolences for dead parents, but before you were forced to look me in the eye, that is what you sent me,” she said coldly.
“If it’s any consolation,” he said coarsely, “I was drunk when I wrote that. Even sober, I’m not much of a people person, but drunk…”
           “Drunk,” she repeated flatly.
“Yeah, drunk. I was working out of my apartment when I came across your letter.”
“You work a lot?” she asked.
“Forty to fifty hours. More now, since that ‘Chats with Bev’ article came out.”
She rolled her bottom lip into her mouth and bit down agitatedly. “You make associations that you can’t explain. I looked up your school records –you’re smart. Top of most of your classes, and a teacher once wrote about you in a psychiatric journal. She said that you could so acutely read a person that it was as though you were speaking about yourself.”
           “Thank you, Abigail.”
She blinked rapidly, glancing down to her hands. “You got into my dad’s head better than anyone else did, and all you did was write a small article. I guess I shouldn’t be so surprised that you’re something like him. Smart, a hard worker, and a bit of a drinker.”
The force of his ire didn’t let him consider his words. It unfurled, hot and furious, striking out like a whip. “I’m nothing like your father. He was a cannibalistic serial killer that targeted young, teenage girls and strangled them to death in order to eat them.”
“Oh, and who would you target that would justify it?” she wondered without missing a beat. She looked up from hands clenched to fists in her lap.
Cannibalistic serial killers, in fact, he thought savagely. And apparently drug addicts that make the mistake of cornering me in allies on dark, drunken nights.
           “I’ve never killed someone.”
           “You’ve thought about it.”
“Everyone’s thought about killing someone in one way or another,” he replied curtly. His tongue was hot and blistered. “Be it your own hand or the hand of God, everyone’s thought about murder. Even you.”
The heater let out a wild, unattractive scream, and a thin trail of smoke seeped from underneath it. Abigail gave an alarmed jump, and Will glanced to it, then back to her.
“It does that,” he said –not entirely reassuring, but more to avoid her running from the room and causing alarm. He wanted to prolong his termination as long as he could, thanks.
“…You know, this is more of what I had in mind when I first wondered who you were as a person,” Abigail said once the whining cry of the heater died back down to something bearable. “You made me feel like I’d made a mistake coming here with that first introduction, but this seems more like you.”
Fuck, she was right, wasn’t she? Charlie was going to have his ass over this if she made a complaint. After work –if he made it that far, in truth –he was going to get a stiff, strong drink. His thoughts tumbled, trembled like the beating of hummingbird’s wings, too fast for him to catch. The Game, The Body, The Watch, The Girl, The Killer –
           The Game.
“Ask anyone and you’ll find I’m not that popular,” he said uncomfortably. Her stare was stinging nettle underneath his skin.
           “They tell you that?”
           “No, but I know.”
“In High School, they tell us that that’s just insecurities,” she replied, and maybe it was the way in which she tilted her head, but it made Will stop and look at her, really look as though it was the first time he’d ever seen her. His throat tightened, and he had to force down a lump at the look in her eye, the way she crossed one leg over the other and folded her arms.
Will didn’t often like to think of his childhood. His past was something he liked to keep crushed down, down, down where not even whiskey could reel it back up to inspect. There was something in the expression on her face, though, that reminded him of one of the most popular girls in high school, Nicole.
Will didn’t much like Nicole for the same reasons that the look on Abigail’s face made him instantly want to put as much distance between her and his person as was humanly possible. It was both dark and innocent, conniving yet kind. It was people like that that led to that one kid in high school killing himself. Nicole had even shown up to the funeral even though she was the one two weeks before that’d told him he should kill himself if living was truly so burdensome. She’d even shed some tears for him, telling those around her that ‘he could have just asked for help’.
“…I know they don’t like me much the same way I know that you were a lure for your father, much the same way I now know that you were completely and unequivocally aware that you were a lure, Abigail,” he said slowly.
She didn’t blink, her stare drilling holes into his skin. Was that where the rot would come out, oozing from him? Could she see all of the ugly, sickening bits of him that most people couldn’t see but surely felt, couldn’t place but somehow knew? The Chesapeake Ripper saw it.
The Chesapeake Ripper liked it.
“I’ll deny it,” she said, and her lip twitched –the remnants of a smirk she knew she shouldn’t show.
“I never said that I was going to accuse you. I’m just saying that I know.”
“Yeah? What else do you think you know about me?”
“I know that despite your claims at secrecy, there’s no way you managed to get here without some form of approval unless you’re an adult. So, either a psychiatrist from the facility gave you permission and is waiting in good graces down the hall from us, or you’re at least eighteen. I know that you were well-aware that you were a lure the same way that I know you have taken on your father’s skills of manipulation with ease. He taught you everything that you know. You can hunt, and you know how to do it without looking like the hunter.
“You’re uncomfortable in your clothes, though, Abigail, and sometimes your hands shake. You know what to do, but the application of it is scary, isn’t it? You’re being called out on all of the things your father taught you to hide. How does that feel?”
“And what makes you think that you’re right?” she shot back. Defensive.
He leaned back in his chair and rubbed his eyes roughly, knocking his glasses askew. He wondered what time it was, if their silences and long stares and scowls had drained the hours away or if it’d only been five minutes.
If he’d had his fucking watch…
“You were taught to hunt, and I was taught to fish,” he said into his hands before blinking blearily at her. “You went out with your father to catch your quarry, and I was taught to let the quarry come to me. It makes a person observant.”
           “That’s not just being observant.”
“You’re right,” he agreed. “But seeing as how this is a first meeting, that’s about as much as you’ll be able to get out of me.”
“First meeting?” she asked. “Do you think I’d want to contact you again after this?”
Someone shouted down the hall, and a door slammed. Will glanced to the windows whose blinds had been drawn, then back to her. “You didn’t look to the door expectantly when I mentioned a guardian, meaning you’re not waiting on anyone. You’re eighteen, and the psychiatric ward can’t keep you. What’d you use, your personal savings or your inheritance to get a ticket out here?”
Silence. She shifted, uncomfortable, and Will dove for it.
           “Tell me.”
Her jaw lifted stubbornly, but as the silence droned on and the heater let out another plaintive squeal, she let out a curt sigh. “I lifted someone’s ticket at the train station.”
He wouldn’t let her have the satisfaction of him showing just how impressed he was at her resourcefulness. Things like that were the reason, he supposed, why kids were a terrible idea for him.
“What’s your next step?” Will wondered. “Homeless shelter? Stealing a credit card for a hotel room? This isn’t ‘Home Alone: Lost in New York.’”
“Women’s battered shelters always look out for young women like me,” she replied.
“Risky. They ask a lot of questions these days since people like you keep taking up bed space from those in need.”
           “I’m in need.”
           Will snorted. “I doubt that.”
He patted his pockets down, then let out an irritable sigh when he realized that he’d forgotten his cloves, too. Fucking Ripper. Fucking watch. “Any chance you picked up smoking in your post-grievance rebellion?”
And surprisingly, she reached into her backpack and pulled out a small box of Marlboro’s. “They’re menthol.”
“Everything’s fucking menthol,” he muttered, and he grabbed the box from her. “Smoking’s back for you,” he added, lighting one.
He pointedly tucked the box into his pocket, and Abigail leaned back into her chair to sulk.
“What do you recommend, then, since you think that plan won’t work?” she asked as he lipped at the minty flavor.
“I’d say that you could stay with me, but my apartment isn’t entirely safe.”
This time, she didn’t fight the sneer making her lip curl. “Are you a mean drunk?”
“No, but the Chesapeake Ripper is sending me letters, and the last thing that I need is a serial killer’s daughter being killed by another serial killer,” he returned in far more even tones than he’d expected. “Least of all in my apartment.”
That, and it’s torn to shit, isn’t it?
“I appreciate your concern over me.”
“Don’t get any ideas,” he warned. “I’m getting enough publicity. Word gets out that you’re here, and I won’t have a moment’s peace.”
“Then what’s the plan?” she asked impatiently.
This isn’t my problem, he wanted to scream. You’re a biproduct of a psychopath’s rampage, but just because I reported it doesn’t make it my problem. Why is this my problem?
Be it the look on her face, though, or maybe it was the look on Jack Crawford’s face should he find out who’d come to visit Will, but he couldn’t very well leave her, could he? Although she wasn’t his problem, hadn’t he first been the one to bring her world crashing down? Hadn’t he been the very reason that she was sitting right in front of him?
I think that it takes only the barest of nudges to make you fall into the sordid crevices of your mind that you like to pretend don’t exist, The Chesapeake Ripper had said. Abigail may not be his problem, but Will could see how her problems only began because of him. Because of his mind. Because of the way he thought.
He sighed and stubbed out the cigarette in the ash tray that Charlie liked to hide underneath the table –as though no one in the building knew that he smoked.
“Wait here,” he said curtly, and he got up and walked out of the conference room.
-
           “No.”
           “Beverly –”
“Are you joking?” she hissed, and the glare she cut his way was ruthless. “Please tell me that you’re joking.”
           “She’s got nowhere to go.”
           “How’s that my problem?”
It wasn’t. It wasn’t Will’s problem, either. He sat just on the edge of her desk –at least her desk didn’t wobble like his did. Maybe he’d exacerbate the faulty leg on his desk just enough to break it so that Charlie had to buy a new one. Maybe, just maybe, with the extra money that he was reeling in with ‘Will Intentions’, Charlie would be able to afford a new desk for him.
The watch, in all of its glory, would have surely been able to remind him to feel excited about such things like new desks and a popular column. He refused to look to his wrist where its absence needled.
“It’s not our problem, but…” But? Will looked down the hall where the conference room was. His spit was rust, and he swallowed raggedly. “I feel…responsible for her. It’s not our problem, but I can’t just…”
Just? He swallowed again, harder, then looked at her plaintively. He thought of clocks and time and how it was both his master and his mercy, and he wondered just how much of Abigail’s time had been consumed with Will Graham and all of his behaviors as of late. She’d even looked into his college years, for fuck’s sake. Surely, in her thoroughness, he could give her something?
“Good hell, Graham, if I didn’t know better I’d say that you care about her,” Beverly said, and her merciful smile encouraged him to smile, too.
“I don’t care about much, but she’s just a kid. If you don’t let her stay with you, then I’m going to have to ask Freddie.”
That did the trick. At the mention of Freddie, Beverly’s smile turned sour, and she looked back to Freddie’s office with an expression verging on hostile.
“She won’t let go of the fact that you let her help you with the last riddle,” she complained. As an afterthought, “If I have to hear about that room for the deaf one more time…”
“She forced herself into the situation, and I was pressed for time,” Will replied quickly. “I asked for your help all of the other times, and it was you that I wanted for the gala.”
The Gala. The Ripper. He thought of how it’d felt, the Ripper’s hand over his eyes, blinding him because he was allowing himself to be blind.
This is the most fun you’ve had in years.
“So now it’s me that you want to babysit an eighteen-year-old whose father ate innocent women?” Beverly clarified.
“Yeah, I thought about my apartment, but…”
He didn’t have to finish that thought. They shared grimaces with one another, and Beverly leaned back in her chair, flipping and turning a pen about. It was a nice make, something with an angled and sharp nib. Likely it’d give a good flourish to notation, the curve of a ‘g’ or ‘y’ looping and graceful. It was probably sharp enough to stab, given the need, too. He wondered if she wrote in passing after work, or if journalism was the only writing that she needed. He wondered if she struggled the same way as he did with adjectives, with the right sort of pace to keep readers just interested enough to want more. He wondered if her purple prose fell flat –surely not, with a pen like that.
“I’ll take her, Graham, but I’m not babysitting her. She’s going to get a job, she’s going to start working towards something, and then we’ll come up with a new plan,” Beverly said at last. “I have a heart, but I’m not a charity case. I don’t want kids yet.”
“I promise that she’s not much of a kid.”
“Charlie’s at a lunch meeting that ran late,” she said, and her smile curled devilishly at the edges. “I told him that you have a heart condition that you don’t like to talk about; that’s why you were late. If you stay out of his way when he gets back, he won’t have your head.”
           “Thank you,” he replied sincerely.
“You owe me,” she said, pointedly.
Will figured that he owed her for more than that, though. He owed Beverly for a lot of things, from lying to accidentally giving a good lead to someone like Freddie. He owed her for the late hours, the danger, and the fact that as she’d strolled about the steps of the gala, The Chesapeake Ripper had dared to ask Will how he’d kill her.
I’d much prefer for you to use your bare hands.
He left her with her fountain pen and a desk whose left leg didn’t wobble, and he sat at his desk for some time, thinking. The time on the computer said 2:56, but it didn’t feel like the early afternoon. He’d missed breakfast. He’d missed lunch. He’d missed water. He’d missed another cup of coffee. Will fished out a packet of stale peanuts and choked them down, staring at the time. His wrist was bare, his thoughts were scattered, and as he chewed morosely he wondered if the Chesapeake Ripper only wanted to ruin his day, or if he had anything else in store since taking his watch.
The thought that followed after, was: and just what the hell are you going to do about it?
It wasn’t until 3:29 that he collected himself to begin checking e-mails. Serial killer, serial killer, serial killer. Questions, questions, questions. Accusations, accusations, accusations. Time was bleeding from him, and a headache was setting in. He’d forgotten to get water. That thought, much like others, struck him, then fell away after little force. He still didn’t get up to get water.
           Then:
To: Will Graham & Co.,
I hope that you enjoyed the overture. I imagined something along the F-Harmonic scale, although music in all of its intricacies gives room for creative differences.
                                                                                                                       -Another Avid Fan
He stared at the e-mail for far longer than he should have. In the chaotic jumble of his thoughts, Will felt the strains of a fading song, something beautiful and haunting. Hadn’t he also thought of the music along the F-Harmonic range as he’d stared at the body? Had Jack Crawford witnessed him seeing so deeply? So intimately?
           Are serial killers your muse?
He thought about forwarding it to Beverly, another olive branch since the writer had even bothered to include Co. Will Graham and Company. It could have been a sitcom, if there was anything remotely funny about people whose throats now occupied the neck of a cello.
There was something personal in the way the person had included another to their signature, though, that stayed his fingers from clicking the ‘Fwd.’ icon. Another Avid Fan. Not a fan of Tattler News. Not a fan of Will Graham and Company. The first avid fan was a fan of Will. Another avid fan surely felt the same, too. Did they see him swaying to the song? Did they linger in the crowd, watching him try to break free of the line to go inside? Did they mark him with Jack as he was given entry past the partitions?
He printed a copy for himself, then deleted the original. Will told himself that it was because of Jack that he didn’t tell anyone –he’d promised not to entertain another psychopath in the papers, after all. In truth, as he headed back to the conference room in order to tell Abigail that she didn’t have to sleep at a homeless camp, he figured that out of anyone else in the world, the last person that he should have to lie to was himself.

WARS OF THE STARS
So ya homegirl finally saw the last jedi and oh, there are THOUGHTS to be HAD below the cut for spoiler purposes but guys. GUYS.
I LOVED IT
I LOVED IT
IT WAS WEIRD AND AMBITIOUS AND OVERTHREW THE CONVENTIONS OF THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE IN A WAY FORCE AWAKENS SPECIFICALLY DIDN’T AND I LOOOVVVED IT
when luke threw the lightsaber over his shoulder at the very start i was like OHHHHH YES BITCH...... ITS FUCKIN ON
‘this isn’t going to go how you think’ INDEED
my heart siezed when i saw leia ugh.... and this film treated her with the gravitas she deserved and i loved that
POE IS A COCKY FLYBOY BUT OKAY THE HUX SCENE WAS LEGITIMATELY FUNNY and domhnall gleeson is having THE MOST FUN
ROSE’S SISTERRR and i feel like this film took pains to show a more diverse range of people in the resistance and also in the background on the star destroyers? and i really loved that
snoke’s red room of pain lmaoooooooooo. and his mara jade bodyguards
snoke forcing kylo to take his helmet off because he knows kylo needs it to disconnect shut the fuck up
kylo tantrum™ and him wrecking the mask because snoke shattered its meaning to him but also YOU DON’T GET TO WEAR THE MASK IN THIS MOVIE, KYLO. A BITCH IS GONNA BE OUT HERE VULNERABLE AS FUCK
the timeline of this movie was... odd? i feel like we were meant to think rey was with luke for weeks but the rebellion plot was suuuuuper super fast. i employed some mental time dilation to make sense of it lmao
KYLO NOT BEING ABLE TO TAKE THE SHOT AND KILL LEIA
EMO SON LOVES HIS MOM 2K17
holy SHIT i really thought they were going to kill leia off 20 MINUTES IN for a hot minute there
but then she FORCED HER WAY BACK INTO THE SHIP? SUCK ON THAT DUDEBROS WHO SAID SHE WASN’T STRONG WITH THE FORCE LIKE DIE
SPACE LAURA DERN
We Need To Talk About Rey And Kylo’s Sense8 Plot
THAT FIRST SCENE WHERE SHE DIDN’T HESITATE, BITCH
and he FELT IT. HE FELT THAT BLASTER
THEIR FACES when they force felt each other what the guuud FUCK
kylo: you will lead me to skywalker
rey: i think the fuck not
‘i don’t see where you are... only you’
BI.......TCH
THE REST OF THE WORLD FADED AWAY AND THEY WERE STUCK WITH ONE ANOTHER
luke’s sad hermit routine lmfao
luke: the jedi weren’t shit really
me: absolutely fair and true
when rey was like ‘please take this lightsaber and all the responsibility that comes with it’ and luke was like ‘this bitch empty YEET’
porgs are whatever. i wouldve eaten that one on the stick lmao chewbacca is a softie
am i the only one who like doesn’t remember the millenium falcon’s dice in the mirror lmao
sidenote like, adam driver’s voice. right? right?
KYLO CALLING HIMSELF A MONSTER WAS WHAT MADE REY START TO BELIEVE HE WASN’T? WHAT KIND OF BYRONIC NONSENSE......
‘i’d really rather not do this right now’ / ‘yeah me either’
I CACKLED.
THESE TWO SHIT KIDS WITH A SENSE8 CONNECTION THEY DON’T WANT DROPPING IN ON EACH OTHER’S NARRATIVES
I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS MOVIE IS REAL.
i heard that kylo ren had a sixpack. that kylo ren is shredded
DON’T YOU HAVE LIKE, A COWL OR SOMETHING?????????????????????
MAZ KANATA IS LIVING HER OWN ACTION FILM SHE DOESN’T HAVE TIME FOR YOUR BULLSHIT
loved the casino world that was so obviously based on monaco and dipping into the muddy waters of arms dealing and showing how deep the fight between tyranny and freedom runs in the galaxy. it can get quite baroque with the skywalkers and their drama and i felt like it was a smart smart move to have finn team up with rose to see how exploitation and cruelty don’t always have to be in the form of sith lords or first orders
this movie is so busy dismantling the ideas of heroes and villains. it’s just people making choices and that’s the point and it’s TRRRUUUUUUE
benicio del toro is the new era boba fett and i love HE
poe getting SLAPPED and BLASTERED like multiple times lmaoooooooo like i like him well enough but bitch listen to your betters!
i kind of loved that finn and rose went off on this grand plan to save the resistance and it.... didn’t work. like everything they kept trying just DID NOT WORK but there was still hope at the end? friends it was beautiful
YOU’RE NOT ALONE
KYLO SLIDING OUT INTO THE CORRIDOR IS UHHHHHH THE STRAIGHT UP BEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN
HE’S A SIXTEEN YEAR OLD LINKIN PARK FANATIC AND I LOVE
rey in the rain
the first time she’s ever felt it?
and then the world goes QUIET AGAIN
WHAT KIND OF WOLFGANG AND KALA BULL SHIT
and okay the end of this scene where kylo pulls his hand away
AND WIPES OFF
THE RAIN
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
CANNOT
I CANNOT.
WHAT IS THIS AGE OF INNOCENCE FUCKING BUFFONERY SCREAAAMM
‘did he tell you what happened?’
and like, kylo could just say it himself
but he knows rey wouldn’t believe him
and luke fucking LIED
‘THAT SKYWALKER BLOOD’
me two years ago: what’s an adam driver
me now: (laughing nervously) what the f
‘why does the force keep connecting us?’ BITCH ME TOO LMFAO
the way the world STOPS ALL AROUND THEM
oh my god the flashbacks
like i feel like we got more than enough of this alluded to in force awakens but some people need it in black and white i guess and HERE THE FUCK IT IS
‘and the last thing i saw were the eyes of a frightened boy whose master had failed him’
and okay WOW @ ME EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO HAS CONTINUALLY SAID HAN, LEIA AND LUKE DIDN’T FAIL KYLOHE LITERALLY TRIED TO MURDER HIM
look.
i am the most stoic bitch in a movie theatre. like shit does not phase me but i fucking teared UP my face just CRUMPLED LIKE UGHHHHH
AND ADAM’S DRIVER’S STUPID FUCKING FACE AND HIS DUMB EYES
HIS PARENTS SENT HIM AWAY BECAUSE THEY WERE AFRAID OF HIM AND HIS UNCLE TRIED TO FUCKING MURDER HIM
‘YOU WERE WRONG TO THINK HIS HEART HAD DECIDED!’
Tumblr media
and THIS is what’s at the heart of the last jedi - dismantling the myth of the hero. there are no heroes, only people, and luke is the embodiment of thatto rey he’s a myth but to kylo he was a man and that’s how he stumbled but he stumbled because he believed his OWN myth i’m just..... dying slowly
THEIR HANDS TOUCHING
THEIR FINGERS
FUCK OFF
THE ELECTRICITY
I FEEL THE CONFLICT IN HIM
REY CRYING AND KYLO TEARING UP
GOODBYE BITCHES I’M FUCKIN OUTTA HEEEYYYYA

me: fellas,
REY BLASTING OFF RIGHT INTO THE HEART OF THE ENEMY CAUSE SHE BELIEVES SHE CAN SAVE BEN’S SOUL
REY GOING INTO THE DARKNESS AND NOT BEING AFRAID
AND TRYING TO SEE HER PARENTS BUT ONLY SEEING HERSELF
snoke claiming that he mainpulated rey and kylo looks up in FURY because he realises he was manipulating him too
LIKE HE ALWAYS KNEW
BUT HERE IT IS IN BLACK AND WHITE
his fingers twitching
the saber moving
me in my seat: boy he bout to DO IT
AND KILLS
HIS
TRUE
ENEMY
i SCREAMED
well i didn’t scream because i was in a theatre but i screamed on the inside. i would watch kylo or ANY character kill every person who ever manipulated abused used them and HOW oh my GOD
HE COULDN’T KILL REY AND HE KILLED SNOKE INSTEAD.
HE COULDN’T KILL LEIA AND HE COULDN’T KILL REY
JUST A BOY IN A MASK
THE EYES OF A FRIGHTENED BOY

honestly i’m still astounded that a film so rooted in nostalgia, nearly dependent on it in a way, firmly and deeply embedded a ‘let the past die’ moral through its narrative. French Words (Tom Holland x Reader)
Requested: YES; where the reader is a French actress but does American movies, she meets Tom during the shooting of Homecoming, the reader teaches him to speak French and Tom improves the English of the reader, then one day, she accidentally says these feelings for Tom and he understands and the end has all fluff?
Word Count: 5.2k (I went a little bit too overboard this, I’m sorry)
Warnings: Just a few swear words, basically all fluff at the end.
A/N: I’m sorry I took so much to get this done, but I got a carried away and wanted to put a lot of things so it made sense, I hope you don’t get bored reading it.
I was born in France, my accent is thick and really present, working in America was a wreck.
At first I was skeptical on coming here on first place, my family extremely worried on all the things that they saw in TV, preoccupied that something in those dimensions would happen to me.
They knew how much I wanted to be an actress, to appear in big movies, with recognized actors, it had been a dream for some time.
America is completely different from here in France, there would be rejection, people talking about anything and everything you do, we talked about the pros and cons about doing what I was passionate about, there were a ton of cons, but the pros kept me going.
And here I stand, in America, I had appeared in some French series and done some cameos in other movies, but nothing as big as this.
I had auditioned for a foreign student in the new Spider-Man movie, she was in Peter’s circle along Ned and Michelle. I didn’t thought that my audition was good, I was sure I hadn’t gotten the roll, it had passed a few weeks and no calls from the directors, so my hopes went downhill.
Until my manager called me one night, around 10 o’clock, and my phone ringed, she usually calls to check on me and update my parents, so her call didn’t caught me off guard. But then, when I answered, the first thing I heard was a high-pitched scream coming from the other line, I thought I had gone deaf from my right ear, “What was that?! What’s going on?!” I was alarmed, growing worried, she then started laughing, I was confused, is something wrong with her?
“You got the role Y/N! You’re going to be on the new Spider-Man movie! They just rang me and told me the news,” she said, I couldn’t believe it, a hand went straight to my mouth covering the ear-to-ear grin I had plastered, I wanted to cry out of happiness.
“Oh God, are you serious?” This was a dream come true, I couldn’t wait to rang my parents and tell them the news.
“Yes! I’m serious, he said they wanted you on set Tuesday afternoon, at 2 o’clock, be ready Y/N, there’s a lot of things coming for you! I need to go, I rang to gave you the news, I’ll see you on Tuesday.” And she hanged up, it’s not that I didn’t wanted to say goodbye to her, it’s just that I was still in awe.
Then lots of things started to float into my head, what if they don’t like me? What if they can’t understand me and laugh at me? And if I screw this opportunity? I bet all of them know each other already, it will be just as in school, like being the new kid again.
I called my parents and told them the news, they were just as excited as I was, they wished me luck, that I bet I will need later on.
It was Sunday, and I couldn’t shut eye at all last night, a lot of things running into my mind that I was starting to get overwhelmed, until I finally could get a few hours of sleep.
Monday was full of studying with my English tutor, I didn’t wanted to embarrass myself in front of all of them, so I tried my best at studying and learning new things.
Tuesday came up and I woke up ungodly early, I had an adrenaline rush and wanted to do everything, so for it to stop I showered, dressed up, got ready, ate breakfast, called my mom and dad, see how they were doing, and then it came the hard part, drive to set.
I started getting anxious, my palms were sweating and I couldn’t concentrate, I started to feel self conscious about myself, but reminded me that today was going to be a good day repeatedly on my head until I kind of believed it.
I arrived at the parking lot were a lot of trailers were. I got out of the car and started flattening the invisible wrinkles of my shirt, “play it cool, Y/N,” I mentally told myself, nobody told me where or who I had to meet, so I simply started walking towards a group of people, probably looking like a lost calf.
As I was walking I could now recognize some people there, I knew Tom because of his appearance in Civil War and Zendaya too. “Well, they look nice, just introduce yourself,” I took a deep breath as I got even closer to the group.
When I was close enough and everyone could see my presence I said, “Um.. Hello, I’m Y/N,” they all looked at me and I could see their faces, there were three other guys next to Tom and another really tall girl next to Zendaya. They all introduced themselves to me, the other guys next to Tom were Harrison, which isn’t really on the movie but is Tom’s friend and assistant, Tony and Jacob, and the girls’ name is Laura.
They all seemed lovely and continued to chat, just like if they already knew each other and were all close friends, I felt a little left out until the girls came closer.
“Well Y/N, it’s nice to meet you, you are playing Y/C/N right? The foreign girl?” Zendaya asked me, I gulped and gave her a smile and thought of what I was going to say before embarrassing myself.
“Oh, um.. Yeah I am, who are you playing?” I started stuttering, probably making a fool of myself.
“I’m playing Michelle,” she wiggled her eyebrows at me, she really was nice, “and I’m playing Liz,” said Laura, they both were completely stunning and looked completely different from me.
“That’s wonderful- I mean, great! I-er hope we get along!” I said mostly excited because I could really need some friends right now.
“Of course Y/N, don’t be silly, where are you from again?” Asked Laura. “I’m from France, Dunkirk actually, if you couldn’t tell by the accent,” I laughed at myself.
“Oh we have another European mate here, don’t we Laura?” Said Zendaya, which I only did an awkward laugh, I didn’t really know if it was a joke.
“Tom and Harrison are from London too. C’mere guys!” Laura motioned them to come with her hand, and all of them joined us.
“We were saying that Y/N is from France, close to you two!” Zendaya seemed really excited talking to everyone, while I was feeling shy from everyone’s attention.
“Oh really Y/N? From what part?” Tom asked, I stared a little bit too much at him, it’s so different to see someone on the screen than in real life.
I acted quickly and answered, “From Dunkirk, north of France,” I said, trying not to look at him in the eye to not get flustered.
“Only divided by the English Channel,” said Harrison and I smiled at him because of the fact.
Everyone continued chatting and getting to know themselves, I every now and then talking too.
The director, Jon Watts, came in and gave us a quick introduction to everything, he gave us a quick tour on set and presented us to some of the production crew who would make the movie possible. I felt like if I were in a cloud, and no one could ever get me down from it, it was nothing like I had imagined it. He also showed us where our trailers were, each of them with our names written in printed, black lettering on white paper pasted in the middle of the door, they weren’t small, nor big, just the right size to fit a few things inside, with a couch, a vanity for when the stylist would have to get is ready on our trailers, clothes hanger, and you could put inside more things.
Next to my trailer were Tom’s and Laura’s trailers and all of us were checking the inside.
The Jon then proceeded to call us to get outside to hand us our scripts, they were lots of pages and it was slightly heavy with the words “Spider-Man: Homecoming” on the center of the first page. I started to get a look at it, flicking through the pages and only focusing on what my character’s lines were.
“You don’t need to memorize everything,” he then made a pause, “yet… You can take a look at it and memorize the first pages and as we continue you keep learning the lines.” Everyone nodded to what he said and he then gave us more instructions, “tomorrow at 9 a.m., you all have to be here to start the fitting, so we can get some of the clothing done for next week when you will start doing the scenes. And well, that’s basically all for today, just so you are kind of familiar with everything, so, see you tomorrow,” he instructed and everyone said their goodbyes and headed to their cars, I said goodbye to everyone and started driving to my flat.
Once I got to my apartment I started to review all the events that happened today, and I thought “Today wasn’t as bad as I thought it would have been.”
Changed into pijamas, washed my teeth and went to my bed to drift to sleep, even though it was barely 8 at night.
-
I woke up early, but not as early as the day before. I felt so much less tense knowing that they all are super down to earth people, with amazing personalities and insanely nice.
I got ready for the day and showered, got dressed and switched through the apps on my phone to kill some time before leaving. The clock pointed 8:30 and I started to leave my house to meet up with everyone at set for the fitting. I drove carefully through the streets of Atlanta that were different from the ones in France, even driving felt kind of weird and took some time to get used to.
Once I arrived, I still was 10 minutes early and since I couldn’t see anybody out already I decided to stay in the car until someone came. Five minutes later I see a taxi stop a few meters in front of me and paid attention to who was coming out of the cab. I see Tom getting out on a plain navy blue t-shirt, black jeans and sneakers, it was something so basic and with no effort but he looked great with his messy hair lightly combed to the side.
He couldn’t see me admiring him, so I took my time taking his image in until I felt bad for leaving him there alone, so I got out of the car and walked towards his direction, his attention on his phone typing something, not noticing my presence until I got close enough to touch his shoulder with my index finger. He looked up and his eyes went wide open, he locked his phone and placed it in his front left pocket without breaking the eye contact.
“God Y/N, you scared me,” he took a hand to his chest dramatically, which I only laughed, “how long have you’ve been here?” He asked.
“Well, only a few minutes,” I didn’t know if that was a lie or not, “but I haven’t seen anyone other than you here.”
“Let’s wait a few minutes if someone else comes or something,” he said and laid his back on the metal grid behind us, I nodded and repeated his actions.
We stayed in an awkward silence for about five minutes, waiting for something to happen, or better, someone to arrive, “Why in the world were they so late? Is this a thing in America?” I thought to myself.
“Well, I don’t think they are arriving any time soon, it’s kind of weird, but Y/N, are you hungry?” He asked crossing his arms around his chest making him look just a little intimidating.
“Just a little, yeah,” I laughed, I didn’t had breakfast before coming so I didn’t saw a point in lying. “Well, I saw a little food shop at the end of this street on my way here, want to check it out?” One of his eyebrows cocked upwards in an interrogating matter. “Um.. yes, let’s go”
So we started walking in a silence again, the noise audible was cars passing by and our footsteps clicking the asphalt with every step. His hands were in his pockets with his eyes up front. We crossed a street and on the corner stood a cafeteria place that looked cozy. “Well, let’s hope they serve breakfast for us,” said Tom.
We entered the place that had fairy lights hanging on the ceiling and had a rustic facade. And we sat at the last booth on the corner, facing each other, while I was contemplating the place, a waiter came up with a menu, placing them in front of us on the wood table, “could I get you something to drink?” said the blonde girl that was attending us. “I want a cup of coffee, please,” I said, I needed some caffeine on my system to function correctly through the day, “make them two, please,” she wrote it down on a small yellow notebook and smiled at us, “right at it,” she said before leaving to get what we ordered. I flickered through the menu until I found something that caught my eye enough to eat it, so I placed the menu down.
Tom was already looking at me just like if he was waiting for me to lower the piece of paper. “So Y/N, you are not much of a talker are you?” said Tom, his comment caught me off guard and searched for words to come back at him.
“Well, I would, but it just, uhm… It’s not as easy for me, as it is to you,” I paused between each phrase, and it sounded more as a question rather than an affirmation.
The waiter came with our coffees and placed little milk shots and sugar sachets on the table. She asked us our orders and I ordered a chocolate chip waffle, while Tom ordered a sandwich with lots of stuff on it. She left again and I opened carefully a milk shot trying not to spill it and poured it on the white cup as well as two sachets of sugar.
“Really Y/N, and why is that?” He looked at me through his lashes while ripping a sachet open and pouring it on his mug. “Well, as you may’ve noticed, my English is not exactly the best,” I felt kind of ashamed of me, so I stirred the contents of the cup and took a sip. “They didn’t teach you English on France?” I shook my head as a no, he took a sip of his mug and hissed just after, probably burning his tongue, making me giggle, he noticed and rolled his eyes at me.
“So basically, what you know right now is only the basics?” He asked and waited for my answer, “you are right,” I said just before the waiter came with our food, and we did small comments on the food when we were eating to keep a conversation.
Once we were full, the waiter took away our plates to later come with the bill, but on that time Tom spoke up, “I have an offer for you Y/N…” he said leaning over the table with his forearms, “an offer for me?” I cocked one of my eyebrows up to show my confusion, “well, yeah, an offer,” he said making it looked obviously with his hand, “and what is this offer about?” I crossed my arms around my chest, “since you have trouble with English… I could give you a hand with it,” he said looking straight at me, “and…” I continued, “you could help me with French,” he said looking other than me now, “well, didn’t they taught you French on London?” I said defiantly, slightly smirking towards him, “oh, ok, great come back Y/N, but I’m serious, we can both help each other,” he tried to convince and the lady brought the bill, and I was just about to search through my purse for money, but he put his hand before me signaling me to leave it, so I saw him put a dollar bill inside the leather-looking carpet.
And he looked back at me questionably, so I put my hand on my chin as if considering something, “deal?” He said extending his hand at me. I looked at his hand and then at him, hesitated a little bit and said, “okay then, deal” and put my hand on his to shake it lightly.
We went out of the place and went again to set to see if someone had arrived, to our dismay everyone was there already, and when we were there they all looked at both of us weirdly, I looked at him terrified, what a good first impression I’m giving arriving late at the second day, but, technically, they were late.
“Well, well, some of us are early birds, right?” Said Jon, I was just about to stutter and give a really bad excuse but Tom spoke up and I thanked him internally.
“In fact we are, we were here before 9 a.m. like you told us, and stayed ten more minutes to see if someone had arrived, but that wasn’t the case, so we went to have breakfast,” he pointed at me and then at him twice, I could bet my face was a crimson color and looked funny because of it, making me even more embarrassed.
I saw Jon signal a boy to come over with his hand and the boy jogged to get to him, he then whispered, “didn’t I told you to tell everyone that the fitters would be an hour late?” He mumbled barely audible, but I heard it clearly, the boy looked through his papers and said, “yeah, I mean, I thought I had,” he looked nervous and started feeling bad for him, Jon sighed loudly and he then focused on me and Tom, that rarely hadn’t moved places, just like if we were grounded puppies, “I’m sorry, the fitters told me yesterday that they would be an hour late so I told him to ring you so you knew, and got here at 10 rather than 9 a.m., but that didn’t happen, so, I’m sorry, and the fitters are on the back, just wait in there,” he said, embarrassment on his features and after finishing his sentence he then took a hand to his forehead rubbing it in frustration.
I exhaled a breath that I didn’t know I was holding and walked my way to the back with Tom by my side. I looked at him and he looked back, we just bursted laughing, I don’t know why, maybe out of nervousness, but we just did, his eyes were barely visible and wrinkles showed up on his cheeks, he looked adorable, just like a baby.
“I almost shit my pants, not even kidding,” he said, still laughing, I stopped laughing and glanced at him and then said, “thank you,” now I looked at my feet, slightly awkward, “what for?” he replied, I didn’t answer, “oh, for what happened back there?” He elongated the ‘oh’, realizing something, then pointed backwards with his thumb, “It was nothing, I was going to do it anyway,” he shrugged kicking a lose rock from the cement, “maybe we should start practicing today, I mean, if you don’t have anything to do, or just don’t want to, that’s fine to me,” his voice changed pitch at the last words and adjusted his throat, “today is fine for me,” I gathered a loose strand of hair that was on my hair and put it behind my ear, flirtatiously.
He was going to say something back until a lady called his name and motioned him to come near with a rack of clothes by her side. Once he got near, she told him something I couldn’t figure out and then she started measuring him with her a yellow measuring tape, and then a guy came up to me and asked me for my name, and I told him, and he then proceeded to do the same thing the lady was doing with Tom, after measuring me, he separated the clothes that would fit me on a side of the rack and told me to try the clothes that would fit, so we moved to my trailer and with every item I would come out and showed him how it looked and he’d make faces when he liked it or not, just like my mom did when we went to the mall. When I finished trying all the clothes, he put all the clothes in a black carpet that would cover them and then hanged it on the rack inside the trailer. He told me we were done for today, but that he’d order the other clothes in a size that would fit, so I had to try them when we got to set again.
Then I went out of the trailer, and everyone were in a circle, near the parking lot, only three people missing, that being Laura, Tony and me, I got closer and merged into the group, just listening without getting involved, but feeling okay with it.
“I feel like going to the hotel room, ask for room service, and watch a bomb show tonight,” stated Jacob, looking upwards, as if a speech bubble would pop out and magically showed the future. I laughed at him, he really looked like a great dude.
Tony then got in, just as Laura, and then he spoke, “I’m really craving a salad, but that’d interfere with my not-eating-healthy diet,” we all laughed at him, and noticed Tom moving next to me, then tapping on my shoulder.
“Should we leave?” he whispered on my ear and I felt shivers down my spine, he took me off guard. He said goodbye to everyone and a few moments later I did as well. Walking to my car I see him on his phone, with his back pressed to metallic door. He heard my footsteps and his attention was now on me. “Should we go to yours or mine?” He inquired.
I wonder a little and then stated, “Mines.” I unlocked the door and we got inside, I started driving and put music on the radio to ease the silence, few minutes later we got to my apartment.
We got out of the car and passed through the lobby and I saluted the doorman. We stepped into the elevator and I pressed the 4 signaling the floor, we were the only ones inside and I couldn’t bear the silence anymore. The elevator stopped and we turned right to get to the apartment with the number 5C on top.
I opened the door and left my shoes on the side, Tom followed. I turned the lights on and went to the kitchen to get some water, “do you want food, water, anything?” I asked Tom, with my head already on the fridge.
“Uh, just water, thanks.” He took a seat on the sofa and looked through the apartment, gazing at all the decoration.
“Here,” I got a water bottle for both of us and gave him his, bringing also chips on a plate, placing them on the coffee table, “so… With what do we, uhm, start?” I moved my hands awkwardly trying to find words.
“Let’s start easy, I’ll just ask you questions, you’ll try your best to answer them, I’ll help you to answer if you have trouble, capisci?” He explained, I just started laughing, he really thought that was French, he looked at me weirdly, “what’s the matter?”
“Tom, that’s not even French, that’s Italian.” I laughed so hard, clapping my hands occasionally, I took a glance at Tom and he was slightly red, laughing awkwardly, touching the back of his neck.
I started regaining my breath from laughing, small laughs escaping my mouth.
“Okay, should we start?” He inquired, I only nodded, a smile still lingering on my lips, I shifted on my seat waiting for his question.
“Oh, I got one, okay, what’s your favorite thing from America?” He took a sip of his water bottle, not breaking eye contact with me.
“The food here is really good, also the weather,” I replied, “what about you?”
“Well, the people are really nice, also food is just,” he stopped to look for the right word, “delicious.” He pointed his fingers to emphasize.
“And what’s the worst thing then?”
“I hate the freeways, how they turn on the right, how the pilot seat is on the left, not like in London, that confused me so much when I first got here.” He scrunched his nose in disgust, now being on a more comfortable position on the couch. “I have one for you,” he took a chip from the plate and started chewing, once he finished he continued, “why did you decided to come to America as an actress?”
I took a chip as well and put it on my mouth, and chewed to give me more time to think of my answer, “It was always a dream to me, I watched a lot of movies and wanted to try it, so then I started going to drama school, they said I was good, then I got cast on French shows, appearing occasionally, but I craved more, so that’s why I came here, I may sound ambitious, but that’s how it started.” I shifted on my seat, getting more comfortable with Tom’s presence
We keep asking each other questions and every once and then Tom would say: “That’s not how you pronounce it” or “You don’t have to slur your ‘r’s’ so much, because that makes another word”, we continued until late at night, he then noticed the time and called an uber to go to his hotel. I slept with a visible smile on my mouth, not being able to hide my happiness, this deal wasn’t really that bad.
-
Days passed and our learning sessions continued, we would help each other out, I would go to Tom’s hotel room —or later, to the house he had— or he would come to my apartment. At first he used to help me with my lines, with pronunciation and how to fake an accent, which wasn’t that easy, but I then got the hang of it, he explained a lot of words meanings that I could get confused with, I wasn’t that bad.
Helping Tom with French wasn’t as fast as him teaching me, he had to learn from the basics, he had trouble with words that had r’s in them, since they just don’t sound like r’s in English, his pronunciation was bad, but I’d lie to him and tell him he was going great. I would teach him his lines in English and explain how the words have to be said, once he got the hang of it, he could do small talks.
I’d occasionally hear him curse in French and we’d laugh because non of our friends understood, it kind of was an inside joke of ours. Harrison then later caught us and asked, “wait, did you just cursed in French?” And we just shrugged and made fun of him.
Once we stopped with our sessions, we still hung out a lot, watching movies on my flat, going to a café or the movies. Everyone noticed just how close we had gotten and would pick on us every now and then, and every time they’d say something, we would just deny every suggestion of us being more than friends.
But I couldn’t hide it anymore, I caught feelings for Tom after a long time of meeting each other on our places. He didn’t know about this, I have planed to tell him how I feel a lot of times, but my hands grew clammy, I stuttered and the words just wouldn’t come out right. I’ve practiced on the mirror the words I’m going to say over, and over again, but when the time comes I cower, and just can’t say them to him.
Everyone has noticed my affection for him, even Harrison has told me that he feels the same way, but why hasn’t he said something? It would make the situation a whole lot more easier from me if he did.
And here we are again, in the comfort of his company. We are watching a movie, though I’m not really paying attention. I have a leg on his lap and his hand is over it, tracing delicate somethings with his fingers, making the skin shiver and tickle. He hasn’t noticed that I’m starring, and if he has, he hasn’t said anything about it. I’m admiring his left side, his curly hair thrown back, his messy eyebrow, structured jaw, small nose and rosy lips. He looked like an angel, and every day I felt more in awe by him, his jokes, his laugh, his accent, the way he calls me sweet names that make me feel like putty on the inside…
I let out a long sigh and thought, “Je t’aime bien.” I stared at the tv, not realizing that I had just blurted out that phrase until Tom spoke up.
“What did you said, Y/N?” He smirked at me, for once, I hoped that I wasn’t a good teacher, and that he didn’t understand what I just said.
“Uhm, I-I didn’t say anything,” I replied, fidgeting with my fingers in embarrassment. He shifted on his seat and came closer to me.
“Did you just said you liked me in French?” He whispered, his face now inches apart from me. I felt my cheeks go warm, and a red color was probably visible now.
I couldn’t look at him in the eye, too ashamed of what I just confessed. He grabbed me by my chin with his index finger and pulled my face closer to his.
“Hey, look at me,” he insisted, my eyes darted from my lap to his caramel eyes, that were already looking for mines, his smirked grew to a smile, he looked like a child that was just handed a candy, I couldn’t help but smile too, “Je vous aime aussi.” He beamed happily, not letting me react to his words because his lips met mine in a loving kiss, it took me by surprise but followed the kiss instantly, his hand darted to my cheek holding my face, while mine went to the back of his neck, deepening the kiss, lightly grazing the hairs on the end of his head..
Our faces moved slightly in sink, ending the kiss because of the lack of air, he rested his forehead on mine, his hand still on my cheek holding my face, I moved my hand from his neck to his arm, stroking it gently.
“Nice French, Holland,” I remarked with a grin, Tom giggled softly and left a teasing, chaste kiss on the corner of my mouth…
To the lovely anon that requested this imagine, I hope you like it, and I’m sorry if the French phrases are wrong, I don’t know anything about French. Feedback is always appreciated and feel free to request anything (:, thank you for reading, x.

An All Phlint Rec List!
One guess which pairing I fell head-first into this time...
Need more time? No problem, I’ll give you a hint. It involves SHEILD’s #1 eye in the sky and his long-suffering, slightly anal-retentive handler. The purple Avenger and the dead-not-dead agent. You know them, and if you don’t already love them, these fics will fix that for you. Sorry in advance for how long this is, but there are so many fics and I have too many feelings.
Some of them even feature Pizza Dog, because we are a blessed fandom.
Most of these are rated Explicit, but not all! I even mention a G-rated fic, and I’m proud of me for branching out my recs. I don’t read non-con/dub-con, and I’m not usually into ABO stuff, so you won’t find any of that here, if it’s a concern. Just in case, read the tags! I also don’t read unhappy endings, becasue I’m not about that life.
Click the bold titles (sometimes the little lines indicating a link aren’t there, but the link still is) and don’t forget to leave kudos/comments on the ones you love, to spread that love to the authors! And as always, there will always be more fics that I love/bookmark/scream about in my bookmarks page on my ao3 account: megamazing
College AU
Launch Your Assault by foxxcub  Words: 30k  Rating: E
Phil Coulson was more than halfway through his six year plan, and everything was chugging along nicely.
Unfortunately, he hadn’t foreseen a cocky junior Art major waltzing into his life, or his floor.
So this is within the same universe as Bulletproof, a stony College AU fic, but I never read that one. Phlint College AU’s I love, but not so much with stony? I have weirdly subjective preferences when it comes to fics.
However, I will rec this one with my dying breath. It is Phil’s POV, and I have such a soft spot for college age Phil now, thanks to this story. As a college student myself, I felt that everything was really realistic and I believed everything. More than that, I want to give both the boys a hug. They need it after this.
Also, as you’ll see later on in this list, I love the “fuck buddies” trope with hidden feelings that are so not hidden it’s embarrassing. And heartbreaking. As much as I want to hug Phil, I also think he needs a swift kick or seven.
Safety Not Guaranteed by foxxcub  words: 4k+ (nearly 5k) Rating: M
Phil was informed of the Sigma Iota tradition of White Elephant two weeks before Christmas break. He’d heard of other chapters on campus having holiday parties and had figured the SI’s did the same.
But he was quickly learning the SI’s didn’t do things quite like other fraternities.
Short, sweet, and funny. Of course this would happen to them, within a group of people where blatant, verbal communication is a practically a foreign notion. I laughed, I sympathetically cringed, and there are sexytimes, too. What’s not to love here, really? (Wade has a great cameo, too, so of course this was going on the list)
I'll Learn To Dance If You Promise Not To Laugh by torakowalski  words: 10k+ rating: E
A College AU in which there are long distance relationships, misunderstandings, and no one actually spends any time in college.
The insecurity in this fic kills me in the best way. Clint puts on an act sometimes, acting stronger and suaver than maybe he feels. When your bf is older and cooler and smarter and too good for you, what else can you do? Naturally, that strategy works great until it doesn’t.
Thor, Darcy, and Jane are wonderful and I just want more of them! I would never have pictured them as Phil’s roommates, but it works so well and watching Clint interact with them is great.
Everyone deserves a hug: Clint for being a sweet idiot, Phil for being a well-meaning moron, and the roommate squad for putting up with their shit and making it fun.
(more torakowalski fics in the final section, because I’m in love with their work and need to throw more at you)
Other AU
Kindergarten ‘verse by soniclipstick (veriscence)  total words: 38k+ Respective ratings: E, G, and E
Kindergarten teacher Clint Barton has never been in a healthy stable relationship in his life. Hell, mostly he doesn't bother leaving his house unless his best friend drags him out for 'socialising'. He's happy with his life as a hermit; he has a dog, and fifteen sticky tiny humans to teach core skills to. That's more than enough commitment for him
But that's all about to change when the new school year brings along with it some major surprises, such as Phil Coulson, the widowed father of one of his students and owner of the bluest eyes Clint's ever seen.
(summary from the first fic in the series)
I am rec’ing the whole series here, because I want to curl up and live in the world the author created. It has everyone you could think of wanting to see from both general Marvel canon and also Agents of SHIELD. Look, as I’m writing this, I want to go back and re-read the first fic. As the author states in the tags, it’s totally Fraction’s Hawkeye, aka my favorite and the best (soz MCU Clint, you’re cool too, sometimes).
This could have been so stupid. It’s a kindergarten teacher AU, it very easily could have been something I read two paragraphs of and clicked away. But it isn’t. When the author says fluff and angst, they mean it. It hurt my heart and made me giddy by turns. Also, sexytimes. But the feelings! I connected so much with Clint in this, and felt so much for Phil, and the payoff feels so earned by the time it happens.
The supporting cast is phenomenal, and it may be my favorite of this whole list, which is saying a lot because I love them all. Even the smaller cameos were hilarious and made me smile.
EVEN IF YOU READ NO OTHER FIC ON THIS LIST, READ THIS SERIES.
Pre-Avengers (mostly)
Slow and Soft by onthewaters  Words: 23k Rating: E
When Coulson adds Barton to his team, he expects smartassery. Except there isn't any...
This is it. This is the story I was looking for and craving without even knowing it. That may make zero sense, but I don’t know how else to put it. The writing and the storytelling here are on another level, and I mean that in the best possible way. It shows them getting together - including the beginning of the incredible friendship between the trio (Nat, Clint, and Phil) and Nat and Clint's bond - as well as the most believable/subtle pinning I’ve read in awhile.
Phil's characterization is the best in this one. It’s his POV, and his personality just shines. This is one of the ones I really treasure, and I won’t apologize for how extra I am about it.
Operation Snapdragon by Laura Kaye (laurakaye) words: 10k+ rating: E
They’d decided to call it Operation Snapdragon, Jasper had explained, because snapdragons meant “deception” in the language of flowers.
It would be more accurate to call it Operation Rip Out Phil's Heart And Grind It Beneath The Feet Of Mobsters, but apparently there wasn't a flower for that.
The humor is on point, and I am a sucker for pining!Phil and sarcasm. It’s a fake marriage fic, where they’re undercover as a couple. Tell me that doesn’t sound perfect for these two. BUT WAIT, there’s more: they’re already a thing before the fake marriage mission, and Phil has been feeling insecure in the relationship! Voicing concerns in a healthy manner is out of the question, naturally. Idiots.
It takes place over six months, featuring flashbacks to how Phil ended up in a strip club run by the mob, smiling lovingly at his husband while a mobster talks about how great they are together.
Plenty of miscommunication on par with the trope, and you just want to give Clint a hug, becasue you know what’s going on, but Phil can’t catch a hint. It has art at the end, too, which is adorable.
The Clothes that Make the Man by orderlychaos  words: 17k+ rating: E
There was something comforting in the way Clint could focus on Coulson’s dry, deadpan tone as bullets and explosions sounded around him. Come rain, hail or bursts of experimental weaponry, Agent Coulson would be there, calm and controlled in that damn suit, like the personification of order against chaos.
However, contrary to rumour, Phil Coulson was not born in a suit. This is the story of how Clint Barton glimpsed the man underneath and fell in love.
(Or five times Clint saw Phil outside of a suit and the one time he wore a suit himself).
IT’S A FIVE AND ONE, boys, we’ve made it. This my favorite trope in all of fanfiction history. It’s also pre-avengers for the first half, but then kinda after? Coulson isn’t dead and doesn’t appear to ever have been, but in the later chapters, the Avengers are a thing? I’m not sure about timelines. It’s an AU, and it’s awesome.
The important part is that there’s Clint POV and insecurity on both sides, as well as really sweet moments and pinning galore. Plus, it’s rated E, so obviously that too. It’s fairly lighthearted in general as well (meaning there are feelings and angst but there aren’t feelings and angst, if you know what I mean), and after some of the angst on this list, lighthearted fics are a gift.
Coulson Lives - Reunion
Give a Dog a Bone by  Laura Kaye (laurakaye)  Words: 86k+ Rating: E
What do you do when your dead best friend turns up alive after three years? a) yell at him b) hug him c) ignore him to his face while following him around the Tower like a creeper d) maybe fall in love with him a little e) all of the above
Best summary, or best summary?
This does not have enough kudos or recognition. I know it’s at nearly 960, and that’s a great amount, but it deserves so much more! I still think about this story, and it’s another one I want to re-read soon.
When I mentioned Pizza Dog, this is one of the ones I had in mind.
And Kate!!! His friendship with Kate is everything I’ve ever wanted. And his friendship with Tony, and obviously Nat. Basically, I love Clint having friends and getting to be petty becasue holy shit he deserves to be petty after everything SHIELD has put them all through. At the same time, nothing feels like Phil!whump or emotionally beating a character down unnecessarily.
Clint does everything I want him to, and some stuff I didn’t even know I wanted him to do. There is so much pain, as you’d expect, but there is so much payoff and the balance is perfect. I connect with Clint’s characterization in general, but especially here. Just yes.
Phil’s journey with the loss of his hand and adjusting to life with a prosthetic is also really cool, and something I hardly ever see. Same goes for Clint’s hearing loss. He isn’t deal, but and is completely capable/confident in himself, but there are struggles at times that make me wonder if the author has personal experience because it’s stuff I recognize from my mom’s experiences.
doesn't matter if I bleed by t_fic (topaz), topaz, topaz119 (topaz)  Words: 25k+ Rating: E
Clint's never pretended to be deep. He's just the guy who sits back and watches, the guy who makes the shot when he needs to. He's seen a lot of crap in his time, sat through a lot of fucked-up scenes to get to where he needs to be, but this, now--he can't stand another second of it.
This feels like an argument for why the pairing works, and I loved it. It really deep dives into the issues all three of them - Clint, Nat, and Phil - have in a way that feels so real and relatable to me, personally, that it cut me right to the core. I still can't get over the incredible friendship between Clint and Nat in this. I loved every minute, and every win was so, so deserved. I want to curl up and live in the world the author created, tbh. Also, there are sexytimes. Can't forget those.
Tony also has the line early on that nearly made me cry: "Someone has some serious fucking explaining to do, because you," he pokes at Coulson, "we fucking buried you." The scene is already so emotionally charged, and then this and it kills me becasue of all the off-page backstory and emotional weight it gives for the rest of the story.
I’m emo and dramatic about all of these, but I mean it when I say it feels like proof for why Clint and Phil work. Just, yes.
Coulson Lives - some point after the off-page reunion
The Best Bad Ideas by copperbadge words: 17k+  rating: M
When Clint Barton put on the Captain America costume for a mission, he didn't count on Phil Coulson's reaction. Coulson didn't count on Clint crashing his new team to do something about it.
Oh yeah, you read that right. It’s just as funny as it sounds, and all of a sudden you get hit with the angst and it works. Even so, this one is a lot lighter and it’s fun. Cap and Co’s reactions are just as funny, and the gossip sessions between the ensemble are some of my favorite bits. (side note: why have I never considered the badass-ery that would be a Nat and Melinda May friendship?)
Pine Lake Oasis by infiniteeight  words: 32k+  rating: E
When SHIELD gets intel that an arms dealer might soon be receiving Chitauri technology, Fury sends Clint and Coulson undercover to establish surveillance, ingratiate themselves with the arms dealer and his right hand man, and possibly intercept the sale. The catch? The arms dealer and his lieutenant are apparently posing as a couple, which means the best way for Clint and Coulson to get close is to pose as a couple, too. The longer the op goes on, the more Clint wonders which relationship is more real.
MORE PRETEND MARRIED TROPES! We can never have too many, in my humble opinion. This one is very different from the mobster one, because it’s set in suberbia with plenty of nosy neighbors and also some arms dealers who are also posing as a couple. Frankly, I’m not sure anyone is posing as anything in this fic when it comes to feelings.
The domesticity in this story is so good and it’s so sad watching them get used to it and hearing Clint think it can’t last...but then! And everything feels earned by the end, instead of just tossed in. You watch them get closer over the course of the story and I love it.
They’re sassy and sarcastic and funny, and so true to the characters we’ve come to love that it all feels so believable.
Just torakowalski Fics
(Yes. I did add a whole section just for one author. If I hadn’t, every category would be overrun, and there are so many good fics out there! But this author gets me, and more importantly, gets Clint and Phil, so it had to be done.)
Been Looking at You Forever  words: 18k+ (closer to 19k)  rating: E
Clint and Phil are friends. Friends who have sex. That’s all there is to it. Honestly.
Fuckbuddies with a healthy dose of accidental relationship because whoops, who knew “casual” sex with hidden feelings would lead to complications and more feelings?? Set post-Avengers movie, and including all the main faves as side characters.
Guys, I’ll be real with you for a second. I don’t ship either stucky or Tony/Pepper, and yet this has both as background but blatant relationships. And I still don’t ship them, but I believed it within the story and I wasn’t bothered? If that doesn’t tell you how good of a writer tora is...
I am addicted to the way they write Clint and Phil, and the fact that it doesn’t look like they’ll be writing more for that pairing makes me hold on tighter to the stories we do have. Sure, the premise of this fic is a trope, but the relationships between the characters puts it on another level for me. This one will make you crave more of this trope out of all your fave pairings, trust me.
And All the Clocks Came Back to Life  Words: 4k+ Rating: T
Phil Coulson isn't a big fan of birthdays, but they're better than being dead.
Pizza Dog is a character again, and so is my favorite apartment complex in Marvel Comics continuity. This is the sweetest story (it’s also the shortest one on this list *gasp*) and it doesn’t have anything explicit, which I know some people prefer, but trust me. The way tora writes these boys is so worth the read. I have the warm-fuzzies just thinking about this fic again - I dare you not to feel like smiling with this one. Naturally, there are grounded feels too, and I just want to protect Clint with my whole being. Luckily, I’m pretty sure Coulson does, too.
Both characterizations are on point.
Keeping the World at Bay  Words: 25k+ Rating: E
Finding out that Phil's alive and working with a new team isn't easy for Clint, and neither is helping Captain America track down the brainwashed Hydra assassin that used to be Bucky Barnes.
This is another one where I still don’t ship stucky, but god damnit I’m here for everything in this fic. Clint gets to be fucking amazing in this one, both physically and on an emotional connective-ness level. It uses his own neuroses and backlog of problem/coping mechanisms and puts them to use in the best way. You know, if you’ve seen the movie Age of Ultron (meh movie overall but there are elements I adored) that Clint has the potential to fill the mentor position so well. He gets to do that here, or at least begin down that sort of path, and I loved it.
For all my stony babes, I urge you to give it a shot. Just this once, let me peer pressure you.
I am also always here for Clint getting to be pissed off, because HELLO, he’s got a right. And my heart went out to Phil so hard. Guys, it’s a double reunion fic, as well as the first time potential best friends meet, why are you sleeping on this??
Back to The Place You Are  Words: 7k+  Rating: E
Phil Coulson was sitting two tables over from Clint and wearing his Dress Blues. This was making concentrating on anything else pretty much impossible.
Normally, I am Not A Fan of fics where they are broken up from the get-go. Or maybe I just have to be in the right mood/mind set for that brand of angst. AND YET. This fic.
It’s Tony and Pepper’s wedding, and naturally Phil has to dress the part right? Clint should have been prepared, but clearly, he was not. This one is pretty much smut with angst and feels, and like Clint, I was not prepared for how much I would love reading it.
What We've Got Here Is Enough words: 7k+ rating: E
They don’t fuck in the Avengers’ Mansion, that’s rule number one of Having A Secret Relationship With Your Ex-Handler.
This one was great, and involves how the rest of the team finds out about their relationship. Not a ton to say aside from what I’ve already said about how tora writes these two!
Want more recommendations? Let me know! Maybe I ship what you ship and we can scream about the great fanfic together.

#TwinPeaks season 3, episode 15 review: David Bowie is a teakettle, but who is Judy?
Dreams, nightmares, and purgatories - is this the story of those trapped in different worlds?
Amongst the mystery, a deep sadness. The jubilation of Twin Peaks’ return has been touched, multiple times, by loss: Catherine E Coulson (The Log Lady), Warren Frost (Will Hayward), and Miguel Ferrer (Albert Rosenfield) all passed away after filming, while David Bowie (Phillip Jeffries) had planned to film a cameo before his death.
This week, we said goodbye to The Log Lady. “In Memory of Margaret Lanterman”, the credits read, in tribute to the character’s real name; it seems fitting for a show that so often intermixes truth and dreams. Catherine E Coulson made us fall in love with The Log Lady, and The Log Lady made us fall in love with Catherine E Coulson.
“It’s just a change. Not an end. Hawk, it’s time. There’s some fear. Some fear of letting go,” Margaret whispers down the phone to Deputy Chief Hawk (Michael Horse). It’s the saddest moment of Twin Peaks’ entire return so far, since the shadow of those words seems so all-consuming, In a way, it’s all been about letting go. All of this.
So many of Twin Peaks’ residents are shackled to their own pasts, to the point that actually witnessing anyone let go feels so triumphantly sweet – even suspiciously dreamlike in its perfection. After years and years of pining, Norma (Peggy Lipton) and Big Ed (Everett McGill) were finally free to love each other: Nadine (Wendy Robie) let him go, as part of her effort to shovel “myself out of the sh*t” and adhere to Dr. Jacoby’s teachings.
Is it right to question whether we’re watching reality here? It's a love story that wraps up as neatly as a TV movie, as Norma ditches her business-obsessed boyfriend and the two embrace in the middle of the Double R. It’s a contrast, certainly, to what then feels like a nightmare: the scratchy, shaking camera cuts to Bad Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) at the maintenance store from episode 8, a lair of the woodsmen.
It’s clear the location is another portal to the alternate dimension; as they walk through and trees flicker at the sides of the frame, we’re reminded that all of this comes back to Twin Peaks. It’s beyond the portal that we are finally reintroduced to Phillip Jeffries. Presumably, this would have been David Bowie’s cameo in the show, but his absence leaves a bizarre substitute: a sputtering teakettle.
Voiced by Nathan Frizzel, Jeffries in such an obtuse, intimidating form finally feels like a match for Bad Cooper. Their exchange brings to the surface our new, big mystery to obsess over: who is Judy? Jeffries in Fire Walk With Me insisted that he would not talk about Judy, but now comes a new revelation, “you’ve already met Judy”. Bad Cooper stepped back into the world only to discover Richard Horne, his probable son, had followed him. Bad things are brewing.
If we’ve seen dreams and nightmares, then what is Audrey Horne in? Purgatory? It seems probable, as another conversation with her husband Charlie proved even more disorientating than what we’d seen before. “You’ll talk me to death right here on the threshold,” Audrey spits. Yet, death would let her leave the threshold, at least.
Also in purgatory, it appears, are the new generation of Twin Peaks. Our original residents may be clinging on to morsels of the past, but at the cost of leaving their children like forgotten ghosts. Steven Burnett (Caleb Landry Jones) is in a desperate place, on the run from his raging wife (Amanda Seyfried), as Gersten Hayward (Alicia Witt) tries to prevent him from committing suicide.
We’re introduced to Ruby (Charlyne Yi), too, ejected from her table at the Roadhouse by two men who pick her up and drop her on the floor. She crawls into the crowd of dancers, and lets out a scream as anguished as those of Laura Palmer. No one sees her. And no one cares.

On ‘Twin Peaks’, Part 1
 A Policeman’s Dream
NOTICE: I have tried to avoid concrete spoilers, but honestly, if you haven’t watched the full series, all of this will sound like gibberish anyway, so read on at your own risk.
My very first favorite movie was Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. There was a period of time when I watched it almost every day. My favorite scene, the moment I geared myself up for every time, was of Snow White in her glass coffin, being mourned by the dwarves and other denizens of the woods. I didn’t cry because she was dead (I knew how the story ended), but because the dwarves were sad, weeping for their beloved companion.
Fast-forward twenty years later, during my first year on my own in New York City, when I decided to watch David Lynch's Twin Peaks for the first time. I had developed an impression of what it was—Kyle McLachlan playing a more grown-up version of his character in Blue Velvet (which I saw during my senior year of high school), once again investigating the corruption and decay behind the white-picket-fence façade of an American small town. Something about pie and coffee and owls and a dead teenage girl.
I was not expecting the visceral grief of the pilot episode. The way Pete Martell (Jack Nance)'s voice warbles on the words "wrapped in pla-a-astic"—indignant that Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee), not just princess, but prom queen, should wind up in so cheap and unworthy a coffin. The tears of Deputy Andy Brennan (Harry Goaz), the Galahad of the Twin Peaks police force, as he examines the body no kiss could revive. Sweet Donna Hayward (Lara Flynn Boyle) and James Hurley (James Marshall) sharing a look of horror as they realize their friend has slipped out of their grasp one final time. Laura Palmer's murder touched everyone in this modest mountain town, so reminiscent of my own home of Missoula, Montana—which, of course, ends up playing a role in the series (and was the birthplace of David Lynch himself).
Over the course of the series, I realized something else: David Lynch and Mark Frost are two of the very few filmmakers who have ever captured the nature of dreams. It's one thing to throw forty-five or sixty or ninety minutes of nonsense at an audience and call it 'dream logic'—it's an entirely different thing to actually transmit the experience of dreaming itself. Special Agent Dale Cooper (McLachlan) has a dream in the third episode, in which a black-gowned Laura Palmer whispers the name of her killer into his ear. A little man in a red suit, his voice recorded backwards and dubbed forwards, says, "Let's rock!" There are red curtains, and a floor with a black-and-white zigzag. That, I thought to myself, that looks like one of my dreams. A series of images and phrases which may or may not retain any meaning upon waking, but which feel incredibly significant while you're experiencing them.
Or take that wonderful scene at the Double-R Diner, when the cerebral Major Garland Briggs (Don Davis), sits down with his wayward, petulant son Bobby (Dana Ashbrook), and describes one of his dreams. In so doing, he helps Bobby understand that despite their disagreements, despite all of Bobby's ill-advised rebellion, his father still loves him. It's a beautiful testament of faith—a little rest from all the terror and confusion surrounding the characters. (An excerpt of Major Briggs' monologue shows up in Terrence Malick's 2016 film Knight of Cups, which is itself a flawed, but frequently arresting meditation on fathers and sons. I almost squealed in the theater.)
The best trick, though, is the way Lynch and Frost made the real world seem like a nightmare. Ronette Pulaski (Phoebe Augustine) crawling out of the fog in her white slip, unable to give voice to what she's been through, languishing under heavy sedation at the hospital. Poor Maddy Ferguson (Sheryl Lee again, but with dark hair and a mousy affect), betrayed by the same figure that killed her cousin Laura. Even jovial Big Ed Hurley (Everett McGill), trapped by guilt into a suffocating marriage, and our Special Agent Dale Cooper, haunted by the woman he couldn't save. In the world of Twin Peaks, all lines are blurred—dream and reality, future and past, even (ultimately) life and death.
So much for the original series. I finished it just after Christmas of 2014. Time moved forward. I followed the rumors of the show's return, that terrible period when it seemed like Lynch wanted no part in this expansion of his creation, and the wild mishmash of speculation on the fates of various characters. (Whither John Justice Wheeler? …Just kidding; no one cared about him.)
In the spring of 2016, I experienced a shattering tragedy of my own: the loss of a friend, a wonderfully talented and tenderhearted young man. He, too, was the focal point for a small, vibrant community of people. He, too, had secrets. In the fall of that year, I started watching Twin Peaks again, in preparation for the new series. Suddenly, the reaction of Sarah Palmer (Grace Zabriskie) to her daughter's death—her madness and devastation—didn't seem so extreme. Time moved differently in the aftermath. One foggy evening in December, I briefly felt as though I had left time completely. (The next morning, under the shroud of a brutal hangover, I experienced every second with thudding clarity.)
I sped through the series, exchanging observations with my brother—how I'd hated creamed corn as a child, the sweetness of the friendship between Shelley Johnson (Mädchen Amick) and Norma Jennings (Peggy Lipton), how, this time around, I felt a certain tenderness toward Bobby Briggs. I skipped a large portion of Season 2—the plotlines of Ben Horne: Civil War Enthusiast and Invitation to Love: The James Hurley Edition in particular. I nursed deep disappointment over the fact that Michael Ontkean would not be returning as Sheriff Harry S. Truman. There's a moment, fairly late in the first series, when Truman hears Agent Cooper coming down the hall, and his face just lights up: here comes my friend. I was sure his steadfast decency would be missed.
The day before the premiere of Twin Peaks: The Return, I finally watched the film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, which is, chronologically, a prequel to the original series, but would make absolutely zero sense in isolation. (No, I am not going to make the obvious joke here. You can do that on your own.) It functions as something of a dark mirror to the TV show. Instead of the chipper, kindly Dale Cooper, we get Agent Chet Desmond (Chris Isaak)—vaguely louche and sardonic, investigating the death of the transient Teresa Banks (Pamela Gidley), in the badlands of Oregon. The Deer Meadow law enforcement is steeped in corruption and obtusely unhelpful. Harry Dean Stanton shows up as Carl Rodd, owner of the trailer park where Teresa Banks lived, spectacularly put-upon and haunted by… something. At the FBI headquarters in Philadelphia, David Bowie makes an outrageous, ethereal cameo, as a long-lost agent gabbling about convenience stores and someone named Judy (or, rather emphatically not about Judy).
And Laura. Laura Palmer, in her last week on Earth, already nearly crushed by her own secrets. Laura, of the coloratura scream and fathomless blue eyes, desperately trying to protect her darling Donna (portrayed here by Moira Kelly) from the degradation of the infamous Bang Bang Bar (a.k.a. the Roadhouse). Laura, paralyzed with horror when she finally understands the true identity of her tormentor. Laura, seeking one last respite in the arms of the faithful James, before disappearing into the woods where her martyrdom awaits. In a world where another season of the show would likely never happen, Fire Walk With Me provides an ending. Notice I didn't say 'the' ending.
Please join me for Part 2, coming tomorrow!

Twin Peaks Season 3, Parts 3 & 4: The Empire Review
★★★★
Mere days ago, having been blindsided by the surrealism of the opening two hours, we felt pretty sure the WTF levels would settle down as things fell into place, relative normality resuming. What fools we were. The beginning had nothing on what has happened since – if anything, it gave us a false sense of security. The first episodes seemed to be about sadness. These ones bring madness.
As mentioned previously, Lynch has firmly stated that he sees this season as a film in 18 parts, and the third and fourth instalments cement that notion – make no mistake, this is pure cinema. We are all watching the glass box now, transfixed, awaiting seismic events. It’s rare – unprecedented maybe – to have an entire television series shot a year before broadcast, as is the case here, but it is now clear that the last 12 months have been spent furiously turning that footage into art.
Cooper’s journey out of the Red Room was a thrill. What does one even call these places he found himself in? There was some sort of netherworld, starring a lady with no eyes, who flailed at him, accompanied by audio effects that sounded like vicious slashing, and juddering glitchy visuals that looked like 19th century film stock. Then he was in – space? Elements of Eraserhead and even The Elephant Man sprung to mind, while now standard Red Room riddles (“When you get there you will already be there”) made Cooper the star of a particularly bizarre Choose Your Own Adventure.
The most grounded moments were when characters actually acknowledged how strange things are. In episode three we were introduced to a third Coop doppelgänger, bouffant businessman Dougie, who collapsed at the same time as Evil Coop had a funny turn after crashing his car. Both of them vomited up something disgusting, possibly Black Lodge food Garmonbozia. “What the fuck was that?!” asks prostitute Jade as Dougie hits the floor. Meanwhile, now in the Red Room, Dougie himself said, “I feel funny,” sounding uncannily like one-time YouTube sensation David After Dentist. When his hand started shrinking, he said, ‘That’s weird,” a real LOL moment, of which there were many. One can only imagine the fun Lynch and Frost had cooking this stuff up.
Tumblr media
So Cooper is back in the real world, but the real world is not back in him. Having emerged from a plug socket that looks like a tortured, screaming face (RIP Josie Packard), he’s now a lost soul, with seemingly no idea who he is, talking like he has Alzheimer’s, walking like he’s Frankenstein. Suffering him doddering about aimlessly is sad, and it’s a marker of how bizarre Twin Peaks has got now when you think he might be better off in the relative comfort of the Red Room. But it’s also hilariously wacky, and despite our best wishes for Coop to find himself again soon, we’re enjoying our time with Mr Jackpots
Meanwhile, with isolated sequences that make even less sense, like Dr Jacoby spraypainting shovels and Michael Cera cameoing as an absurd tribute to Marlon Brando in The Wild One, Lynch seems to be inserting possibly inconsequential short films into the show. Consistency of tone means nothing to him. When Bobby, now a Deputy Sheriff, sees Laura’s photo and Angelo Badalamenti’s music pipes up, his distraught reaction is so overplayed, and accompanied by Robert Forster’s unfeeling look at him, the whole bit seems to be almost mocking the nostalgia of it all. Soon after that, Cooper is reunited with his coffee, but immediately spews it out. Lynch will not give us what we think we want. He’s having a ball.
These two episodes were off the hook. One Coop doppelgänger was mad enough, but we knew it was coming, and God forbid we should get used to anything, so Lynch gives us another one. We now know that new Twin Peaks is operating on many different levels of batshit. It’s fabulously unpredictable. “Albert, I hate to admit this, but I don’t understand this situation at all,” says Lynch himself, his very own Mount Rushmore face inhabited by Gordon Cole. Good to know.

Big questions
Who is Dougie?
In the Red Room, MIKE says Dougie has been manufactured by someone for a purpose, fulfilled now that he’s in the Red Room, right? Manufactured by who? All signs lead to BOB. Maybe. Note that Dougie was wearing the Owl Cave ring, previously seen on Teresa Banks and Laura Palmer before they died.
What is Blue Rose?
The disembodied spirit head of Garland Briggs uttered it to Cooper in space (how amazing to write these sentences as if it’s normal), and later, Albert mentions it to Gordon after meeting Evil Coop. It was previously mentioned in Fire Walk With Me, and most likely concerns supernatural happenings, probably Black Lodge related.
Who has been pressing Coop’s suit?
Seriously he’s been stuck in the Red Room for 25 years. You might theorise he’s been frozen in time in there, although he’s visibly aged, so that doesn’t quite work. What’s he been eating? Garmonbozia, right?

Logan Review (spoiler-free)
There’s a lot to be said about what Fox Studios have gotten wrong with the X-Men film franchise over the years, particular in comparison to their counterpart in the Disney/Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe. Once a pioneering film series that helped pave the way for the more colorful and comic-accurate portrayals in the MCU, the X-Men films began in the much more cynical landscape of Hollywood in the late 90s/early 2000s, when the idea of colorful heroes in “yellow spandex” was something to be sneered at and even derisively mocked in the first film by a po-faced James Marsden grimacing inside a restrictive but oh-so-serious black leather jumpsuit as he quips to the fresh-faced visage of a young Hugh Jackman in his star-making first appearance as Wolverine. The one thing that these films have gotten absolutely right in adapting their source material however, in a way that the MCU hopefully never will, is the comic series’ complete lack of consistency and continuity, and tendency to lean heavily on retcons. After the disappointing third entry and abysmal first spinoff for Jackman’s Wolverine, the series was “rebooted” with the much more colorful and well-received (by everyone but me anyway) X-Men First Class, which marketed itself as both a reboot and a prequel and didn’t really achieve either particularly well, keeping itself completely tied to the characterizations set up in the first three and even including cameos from Jackman and Rebecca Romijn. Following off the success of First Class, Hugh Jackman got another chance for a solo project with The Wolverine, before returning along with the rest of the series veterans to star in series highlight, Days of Future Past, which served to wrap up all the continuity snags of the franchise and give the original cast a proper and heartfelt sendoff. But Hugh Jackman, who by all accounts loves this particular role with a genuine affection that has shown through in even the worst entries, had jus one more left in him, and has returned to cinemas to give the character of Wolverine a final, heartfelt farewell before hanging up the claws for good, and has brought the equally talented and passionate Patrick Stewart along to do the same for Professor Charles Xavier. Loosely inspired by the Mark Millar comic, “Old Man Logan,” Logan tells the story of a near future where most of the mutants, along with all of the X-Men, have been killed and there are no new mutants being born. The surviving mutants have found themselves growing steadily weaker, their powers somehow degrading, including a now-aging Logan and a decrepit Charles Xavier, who Logan is caring for while he’s fighting off dementia and seizures that cause his still immensely powerful telepathy to be a danger to those around him. The situation is incredibly bleak for the two of them, with Logan working as a limousine driver to try to save up enough money to buy a boat for the two of them, presumably in the hopes of taking them both out to the middle of the ocean where Charles’ deteriorating condition will finally claim the lives of both men without hurting anyone else. But this plan is changed when a desperate woman brings a little girl, Laura, into their lives. Laura is a new mutant, born in a lab and experimented on to be developed into a weapon, exactly as Wolverine had been experimented on. In fact she’s Logan’s daughter, a clone made from his DNA, with the same healing powers and with adamantium claws grafted into her arms and her feet. Despite his initial refusal, Logan is persuaded/forced to take Laura, along with Xavier, to a location in North Dakota, where they can escape the mercenaries that are hunting her. As the final outing for Hugh Jackman in the role that made him famous, this was the perfect film to go out on. Not only does it’s R rating allow Jackman to finally “cut” loose and deliver the kind of violent action that Wolverine is famous for (seriously we’ve had eight other movies featuring a guy whose entire gimmick is having knives come out of his hands that were severely restricted in the amount of blood and violence they could show), but it also closes out the character’s story arc with a genuinely somber, reflective tale of loss, hope, and redemption. Wolverine is a character that people love for his gritty, tough-guy persona, but it’s a persona that only really works because it’s steeped in tragedy. Wolverine doesn’t work without proper pathos, and can easily fall victim to that pathos straying into desperate melodrama, as evidenced by his first solo film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where he spends much of the film screaming comically to the heavens over the bodies of characters we never have reason to care about, before tearing through villains we also have no emotional connection to. It’s a tight rope to walk, and this film, directed by James Mangold, finally walks it like a professional. The tragedy in this film is thick and genuine, as presented in the soulful, regret-filled performances of Jackman and Stewart as well as the surprising newcomer performance of Dafne Keen as Laura, AKA X-23. As child actors go Keen is a revelation. She’s called upon to give a wide-ranging performance which she delivers on a level that has her slipping into this particular character even more perfectly than Hugh Jackman originally fit into his role as Wolverine. Despite her age she looks perfect for the part, like a younger version of Josh Middleton’s artwork from NYX brought to life, and she nails the quiet, fuming rage and tragedy of the character in a way that informs the character even better than the writing in the comics. For a film meant to be a final solo outing for both Hugh Jackman and Wolverine, the strength is in its ensemble cast, which is firing on all cylinders. Patrick Stewart gives the most human performance he’s ever delivered in the role of Charles Xavier, and one of the best performances of his stellar career. Boyd Holbrook delivers an electrifyingly charismatic performance as the main villain of the piece, along with Richard E. Grant and Stephen Merchant in their supporting roles. And of course, Jackman himself gives the kind of performance in the lead that we’ve been waiting to see since he first appeared in 2000’s X-Men. He’s more ferocious, more troubled and more sympathetic than we’ve ever seen. This film is, without a doubt, the best Wolverine movie, the best X-Men movie, and one of the best superhero movies ever made. It belongs right alongside the likes of The Winter Soldier, Civil War, Spider-Man 2, The Dark Knight, and Deadpool. This is a must-see film for anyone that is a fan of comic book movies or has ever enjoyed even one of the X-Men films featuring Jackman’s Wolverine. Don’t miss it.

Casting Call
I wanted to address this casting of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano. Personally, i think it’s inspired casting. Seriously she’d be my first choice, acting wise. Dawson has grown leaps and bounds in her craft plus, she has a real passion for the lore. We all know Dawson is a total nerd but she adores Ahsoka as a character. That much passion for the role, coupled with the inspired direction and vision of Favreau, give me confidence that she’d be great in the part. The only actress i’d say would be a better fit would be Laura Harrier. She looks like Tano even before the makeup but her build might be slightly too large, i think. That, and the only thing i have to judge her acting ability on is Homecoming where her role was mitigated to a glorified cameo. Still, i can see why cats would want her over Dawson based on aesthetics. The other reason? Not so much.
Rosario Dawson is a transphobe? Really? Come, on man. I actually looked into that case a little bit and it kind of sounds like it’s a cashgrab by the complainant. I mean, the bulk of their case is discrimination but, after reading over the complaint, it skews more toward “hostile work environment” because they was misgendered on site or whatever. Being called your old gender is not the same as being called a faggot or freak but fine. I get that. Cats feel some kind of way about stuff. The thing is, though, f*cking quit. If it’s that bad, quit and leave. Why stay someplace where you feel uncomfortable or perceive yourself to be hated for being you?  I mean, this person openly admits that the Dawson family has known them for twenty years as whatever they were before. You show up at their door post-transition, sight unseen for years, and expect them not to have something to say about it? That’s jarring and takes time to accept. People have to adjust to such a drastic change. They have to learn how to live around your choice. Popping up and just expecting everyone to okey-doke such a drastic alteration to their perception of you is a little ridiculous to me. That acceptance sh*t goes both ways, you know? But, okay, they’re calling you your old name and referring to you as your old gender. Sh*t hurts your feelings, i get it. What i don’t get is how the f*ck you’re suing Rosario over that sh*t, even though she wasn’t doing it. How is she responsible for the actions of other people in her family? How are you mad she told you to suck it up and act like an adult? You’re fifty-years-old, man!
The other parto f her case is even more dubious to me. Apparently, Dawson and a relative went to the apartment they provided this person for free, because this transgender individual refused to leave. I assume it’s been several months of complaints and derision at this point so a clean break between parties would be best for everyone. This transgender person swore they had no place to go and that they couldn’t get back to New York, even though they freely admitted to having a support system out there and half a year’s worth of wages, plus a stipend from Dawson, herself. They were living rent-free in an apartment provided by Dawson and were only responsible for personal bills like food yet, didn’t have enough for a return ticket home? How? Full time wages for a carpenter in California, they moved out here to help with some of Rosario’s home renovations, is about $57,000 a year. Half that is $28,500 dollars. You made 28 grand, before taxes, and couldn’t get home? Really? You had no choice but to squat in a residence that was not yours, for what i imagine is several months, with damn near 30 racks in the bank? Seriously? You want to scream “hate-crime” when they physically drag your disgruntled ass out of their house after months of futile back and forth? Really?
I don’t think Rosario Dawson is a transphobe. I think she doesn’t suffer assholes and this cat sounds like an asshole. They’re not suing Dawson for hostile work environment, they’re suing for discrimination. You’re fifty-year-old, transgender, lesbian, who has known this family for decades. Dawson flew you out, hired you full-time at a comparable rate to others in your field, and gave you a rent-free place to stay. That alone gives you thousands of dollars a month in savings. I imagine all of this misgendering and sh*t was either them ribbing you or legitimate mistake because of the decades long relationship they had with you, as another f*cking person. As far as that assault? You were squatting in their property. I don’t agree with them getting physical with you, if they actually did, but, at the same time, you were effectively stealing from them by not leaving. It wasn’t like you couldn’t afford to go, you had at least three months worth of wages, probably closer to six. Bare minimum, you have 10 bands, fluid! You really saying you can’t make it back home with a minimum of $10,000 in your pocket and this expansive support system waiting on you? You have no choice but to slander Rosario in Out magazine, the most bias press available? This smells of bullsh*t to me.
I’m not a member of the LBGTQ community. I don’t consider myself an ally. I consider myself a reasonable, intelligent, person. I find it stupid to hate a someone for something that doesn’t have anything to do with me. If you’re gay, that’s your business. If you’re trans, that’s your business. If you’re Batman, that’s you’re business, Bruce. I don’t care nor do i need to. That’ a personal journey, a personal truth. If you want to share it with me, cool. If not, that’s cool too. That’s why, when i read this complaint, it looks suspect. Rosario Dawson doesn’t even come up until the end where the assault occurred and, even then, she was described as “holding her down” while Dawson’s aunt or somebody, fought with this transgender person. That sounds like there was an altercation and Dawson was trying to get between the two, probably so this exact situation wouldn’t occur, and that’s if she even physically intervened at all. I mean, Rosario Dawson is not only famous, rich, dating a Senator who is a staunch supporter of trans rights, but she, herself, identifies as bisexual - a part of the very community this person claims she’s discriminating against! For real? Why the f*ck would Rosario jeopardize all of that, over a squatter? No, i think that little part was tacked on so this person could go after Dawson directly because, literally, up to this point, it was everyone else AROUND Rosario committing the transgressions. Everyone around Rosario ain’t famous, though.
This whole situation sounds like an employee was unhappy with the terms of employment and decided to take advantage of their employer’s status as a celebrity for a quick cashgrab. The leaking of this case to the press was meant to damage Rosario’s image in a means to force a “go away” settlement. Do i think there was discrimination? Not any more than this person would have had to deal with as a fifty-year-old lesbian. There might have been ill-intent but never from Dawson, herself. I imagine she snapped and said what she said to this person, after weeks of complaints or a stressful shoot somewhere. Do i think there was an assault? Sure, maybe, but not in the way this person is describing. It doesn’t make sense to me that Rosario, herself, would put her entire career at risk over something so pedestrian. Dawson is well aware of the current political climate and cancel culture. She was right in the thick of the MeToo movement. Ma ain’t stupid. Rosario has wanted to lay Ahsoka for years. You think DIsney would let her if this suit had any teeth? Do i think there’s a semblance of responsibility that must be taken by the Dawson family? Of course. They were dicks to this person and owe them an apology. Do i think Rosario Dawson has to cash-out because her family were assholes? F*ck no. Sue them, they’re the ones who hurt your feelings and that’s the crux of this argument; Rosario is the famous one. Rosario is the rich one. Rosario has to be the target or no one gets paid.
There’s fault on both sides here, i freely admit that, but i don’t think Rosario is involved the way this person says she was. I think this person knows what side the bread is buttered on and is looking to capitalize on this whole SJW/PC, cancel culture, bullsh*t, for a quick payout. Believe all of the gender minorities before actual evidence because they’re so oppressed. Cancel everyone who doesn’t share our politics or, heaven forbid, waits for facts and uses logical assumptions to deduce bullsh*t. For all intents and purposes, this person sounds like an asshole to me. Look at it objectively; Rosario flew this person out from New York, put them up in a rent-free apartment, and paid them a full-time wage while also giving them a stipend to get on their feet out here. This person did nothing but complain and refuse to leave the apartment when both parties agreed for a separation. Instead, this person squatted for weeks to months, freeloading on Dawson, while pocketing thousands of dollars. Seriously, how do you think they’re paying for this Hollywood ass lawyer? They can’t get home but they got money to hire a lawyer, though. Okay. Like, you don't get to be magically absolved from the repercussions of being an asshole just because you decided to transition. No one committed a hate crime against you because they threw you out of their house, yo. You were being a dick and got dealt with as such. ll this “Believe everyone, all of the time” sentient is getting out of hand.
Or, i could be wrong and Rosario Dawson is ball of trans hate who spends her time keelhauling those people in between campaign stumps and acting roles, i don’t know. Pretty sure she’s not, tho. Also, Brie Larson as Mara Jade is a mistake. That’s bad casting, man. Alexandra Daddario, Emily VanCamp, or Alexandra Breckenridge fit that role much better.

So I just saw Spider-Man: Homecoming....
Tom Holland is honestly an amazing Peter, and the whole cast, setting and writing made everything feel Real and Believable. Besides the fact that it’s great to see an american film with a school that looks realistic, everything felt very Spider-Man. Like, this is Peter Parker, this is who he is as a person and that’s his life.
Liz! Liz Allen!! She’s always been a favourite of mine, especially from the Spectacular Spider-Man show- the ‘Pedro’ must’ve been a nod to it, so it made me very happy! I’m glad she was the main love interest, and Laura did such a good job, I’m sad about her moving away though, I hope she will appear in other film...
I think I’m a little conflicted about Flash and MJ if I am to be honest. I love Flash in the comics and from the different cartoons, so I really do he does come around in the future, and I hope they don’t intent to portray him as a rich kid etc. and erase a lot of his character to just make him a bully. MJ.... I hope we see more personality in future films, because right now I don’t know where I stand, I love Zendaya but I’m not sure what the writers are doing in terms of how they portray MJs character.
Ned.... Gosh I love him. He really brought a lot to this film and Jacob did such a good job too, I actually don’t have much comments on him because he was solid? And nice Donald Glover cameo omfg I’m in tears.
Tony was so good in this film? I really don’t get how some people think he’s the real antagonist in the film? He acts like a good parental figure and I really appreciate it, none of his actions or emotions are bad. Also the Steve cameos? Gold.
To what I’m most excited about!! The villains!!
Vulture? Gosh I they made him so well? He’s never been my favourite Spider-Man foe, but he was very sympathetic AND a wayyy cooler new design? Having him as Liz dad was a cool twist and it does make one more invested in him, since the audience has already gained a liking for Liz through Peter.
THE SHOCKER. HERMAN. MY LOVE. MY BABY. I got so happy when he appeared, and then upset when the first shocker was killed and I got sad since he did wear clothes similar to the comics, but then the second guy had those later!! So I’m very very happy!!!!
MAC GARGAN, gosh when I heard ‘Gargan’ I had to contain myself from screaming, and then for him to actually appear? I was ecstatic! Nice touch with the scorpion tattoo too, and with the end credits I’m hopeful that he will take part in future films!
