Assistant Mouse: We can finally release our new product, cheese lipstick after we finish our last human experiment !

White mice are the most commonly used animal in animal testing. Many cosmetic products use animal testing to conduct safety and allergic reaction before releasing the product.

High-dosage of experimental substances are usually injected into the body of the animals or smear on their skin. These long-duration experiments can cause severe damage to tested animals, some animals die during the experiments; some animals may make it though the experiments but are then euthanised in order to obtain body sample.

In reality, genetics and body structures between human and lab animals are not the same, therefore, results of animal testing on consumer products can not, itself, truly reflect human body reaction when using the products.

Next time when we choose cosmetic products, we can support products that are not conducting animals testing upon the safety!

白老鼠是不少動物測試中經常被利用的實驗對象。而不少化妝品會在推出市場之前進行動物測試來測試產品的安全性以及敏感反應。

實驗人員會將高劑量的測試物質注射或者塗抹在動物皮膚身上以觀察牠們的狀況。長時間的實驗其實對動物造成嚴重的傷害。有些動物會在實驗過程中死亡；有些動物即使捱過實驗也有可能會被人道毁滅以觀察身體器官情況。

而事實上，人類與動物的基因及身體構造不同。因此以動物來測試產品的安全性以及敏感反應其實是不能作準。

所以下次購買化妝品時不妨可以留意一下，支持一些沒有使用動物測試的產品吧！

Today was a difficult day to end a difficult week. A heavy one. As are many of them for Veterinary professionals. But most days carry the ability to keep a smile on, to shake it off & keep pushing for the sake of the next patient, for the sake of my team and staff, for the sake of the excited new pet parents in the next room. I clock out with a heavier heart than usual today with a case that left me feeling shattered. Fur babies are amazing healers, companions, friends, & ultimately? Family. They give us so much & the minimum we can do is ensure they are healthy & without pain for the short time they have on this earth.

From the moment you bring them home — the vow is made to protect & care for them. The cost of Vet care is a heavy burden. But it’s one you must consider as part of that vow.

We owe them that. YOU owe them that.

Humans can be selfish beings. And today is one of those days where it’s all too apparent. The suffering gets sickening by the end of the week. Do better. We MUST do better.

rescuedogsrocknyc PLEASE READ : It pains us to have to send out a plea like this, but we are left with NO choice. We are struggling to stay afloat right now. Our funds are dangerously low & it’s just not getting any better. In fact, it’s getting worse. Our vet bills alone were $50,000 last week! We are spending more than we are raising & the math just isn’t working. Without continuous incoming donations, we cannot pay our bills and therefore, cannot say yes to dogs in need. We see other rescues closing daily. They just can’t continue in today’s circumstances. We understand & we sympathize. How can we not?! We are facing the very same obstacles every single day. The LAST thing we want to do is close intake, but we need help & we are begging for help now. We founded RDR NYC 7 years ago & we have placed about 9000 animals. We are so proud of all the dogs (& cats) who were saved & given the gift of life. We could not have done this without your generous help & support & for that we are forever grateful. Trainer Beluga: We are now demonstrating human walking behaviour, this is what they do in the wild!

Bottlenose Dolphin Audience: Wow! What a joyful show to watch!

Bottlenose dolphin (Top left), Beluga (Bottom left) and Pacific white-sided dolphin (Right) are all commonly kept in captive, often held in a small water tank. Some aquariums will force them to perform unnatural behaviour like spinning in the air.

Compare to the free-ranging dolphins swimming ten kilometres in the sea, captive dolphins swim back and forth in swimming pool sized tanks. The environment of the tank is nothing like the ocean with complex and variable environment . So the captive dolphins may show stereotype behaviours due to the lack of stimulus which animals performing repetitive behaviours over and over again, such as swimming in circle and logging at the same spot.

Some aquarium attract people to visit their aquarium in the name of “conservation”. In fact, the dolphins species that are kept in the tanks are not endangered, so there is no need to captive breed them recover the population. In fact, forcing dolphins to perform is actually counter-intuitive in terms of education, as it gave tourists a false impression that we are superior and can control wildlife merely for entertainment purpose. So, we should not buy a ticket to any of these aquariums!

瓶鼻海豚（左上）、白鯨（左下）以及太平洋白邊海豚（右）是普遍被圈養鯨豚動物。牠們常被困在狹小的水缸內，有些水族館甚至要求牠們每天重複表演一些不自然動作如在空中旋轉。

比起在每日在大海暢游數十公里，被圈養的鯨豚只能在狹窄水缸來回游動。而且水缸的環境單一，不像大海般千變萬化。所以也會引致牠們出現刻板行為——長時間地重複相同動作如浮在水面或者繞圈游泳。牠們在圈養環境下生活其實並不美好。

有不少水族館會以保育作借口來吸引遊客前來參觀，但是不少被圈養鯨豚品種在野外並不需要靠圈養繁殖來維持物種的數量。而且要求鯨豚表演更加是一種反面教材，教育大眾如何殘忍地凌駕於大自然以及動物之上。所以希望大家可以避免參觀一些圈養鯨豚的水族館！
