Notes: gender neutral black human!reader (they/them pronouns) with human Wally Darling hHhhH- based on an audio I heard of Wally being jealous so I wanted to write something similar to that. Characters belong to @/partycoffin

It was a warm sunny day in the neighborhood just as how it is every other day. It was perfect weather to be outside to spend the day away doing fun activities. Or to be staying inside for practicing hobbies, relaxing or doing whatever comes to mind. To a certain blue haired individual, he wanted to take the chance to take his dear (Name) out for a picnic.

(Name) and Wally decided to go out into the open field near their house. They found a perfect spot underneath shade of one of the trees to set up everything. (Name) goes over their mental checklist to make sure they brought all the things for the both of them. Satisfied with themselves as they continue their path to the picnic spot.

Both of them had separated some tasks with themselves so they can have everything checked off. (Name) made themselves in charge with bringing the food for them while Wally made sure to bring supplies such as plates, cups, etc.

Soon (Name) reaches the spot where Wally was standing underneath the shade. He was setting everything up for the both of them, his back turned as he stands up in thought. (Name) jogs up to him whilst carefully holding the basket of food in their hands.

“Heya, Darlin’.” (Name) greets, which gained his attention almost instantly.

Wally turns to (Name) with a friendly smile on his face. He had quickly grown use to them using his last name whenever they greet him. “Hello, (Name). My, you look lovely today.”

(Name) smiles bashfully at the compliment. “Thanks, you look amazing Wally.”

Wally’s smile seem to grow bigger at their words. He’s always enjoyed exchanging compliments with (Name). Wally found ways to compliment his friends whenever he gets the chance, though the ones from (Name) were ones he looked the most forward to. No matter how simple or extravagant they were.

They kneel down to set up the food since Wally had already set out the plates for the both of them. While (Name) was preparing the food, Wally stays standing from a short distance. His eyebrows furrowed in a focus state while he looks down at the picnic setup he had done himself. Something was missing.

“Hm.. I must’ve forgotten something.” Wally muses to himself, unaware that this grabs (Name)’s attention. He stays silent for a couple of seconds before speaking again. “Silly me. I think I know what’s missing.”

(Name) turns over to look at him with curiosity in their eyes. From what they’re seeing, he’s gotten everything that’s needed for the picnic. Perhaps he’s forgotten something personal of his that he wanted to bring to the picnic.

Wally takes a few steps away from the spot, looking back to (Name). “I’ll be right back, (Name). I just need to go back to grab something.”

���Ok. Don’t take to long.” (Name) watches as Wally departs from their spot, seeing his figure on the path to what could be assumed to his house.

(Name) turns their attention back to the food. Everything was all set up for the two of them. They smile proudly to themselves as they adjusted the small makeshift table that was brought, having only two plates of food on it. Now all they had to do was wait for Wally to get back.

“Excuse me? Are you Mx. (L/N)?”

(Name) jolts out of their thoughts as they look to an unfamiliar person. The person wasn’t someone from the neighborhood at all. Though it was a uncommon occurrence that there would be an visitor from another place. This was the first of the visitors that (Name) had encountered.

They nod slightly few seconds afterwards. “That’s me, is there something you need?”

“Ah, no not really,” The visitor play with their fingers as they attempted to make some sort of eye contact with (Name). “I wanted to come over to say that I really like your outfit! The design for the shirt is really cool.”

They could only smile at the compliment. “Thank you!”

They wore a short sleeve shirt that consists of their favorite color in different shades that meshed well together along with some regular bell bottoms. (Name) wouldn’t be considered underdressed for the picnic, but at the same time not exactly overdressed for the weather. They were in the middle point.

“Anytime!” The person’s gaze goes over to the blanket covered with goods for a few seconds. “I love how this is set up. Are you here with someone else?”

“I’m here with a friend. He just went to get something.” (Name) responds to the question while having a little boost of confidence at the first few words.

Whilst they were busy with their conversation, one had failed to notice Wally’s arrival. He was holding one of his many sketchbooks in hand as he saw the perfect opportunity to draw during their picnic. The moment he was about to call out to (Name), he pauses in his tracks as he sees someone unfamiliar talking to (Name). Strangely the smile that was always on his face was nowhere to be found. He was always welcoming to new people visiting or staying in the neighborhood no matter who they could be. Seeing someone talk to (Name) wasn’t something that he likes to witness. Especially if he wasn’t there with them.

The person however took notice of Wally as he silently approached them. They pause whatever they were saying as their eyes were kept on him. The person wanted to say something to acknowledge Wally but their voice was caught up in their throat as they made direct eye contact with him. His eyes had no light; solely just pitch black darkness in them. There wasn’t any emotion present in his eyes. Not that they couldn’t tell in anyway possible. They slowly started to feel uncomfortable the longer he stared at them.

“Oh (Name). I’m back.” His voice broke through their thoughts, seeing how (Name) finally acknowledged Wally’s presence.

(Name) turns their head to look to Wally, feeling a bit more content now that someone else familiar to them is here. Not that they minded the unknown visitors presence. It was just nice to have someone else around. Wouldn’t really say the same on Wally’s case.

“Welcome back to the picnic, Wally.” (Name) muses quietly as Wally turns his gaze back over to the visitor who stood incredibly silent for the past few seconds.

The look in his eyes never changes which slightly freaks the unknown visitor out. “Welcome to the neighborhood. Who might you be?”

It took a few seconds for the unknown visitor to really process that Wally was talking to them. “Oh.. Oh me? I’m just someone wh-who’s visiting a friend from round here.” They quickly sputter out and trying not to trip over their own words.

“That’s amazing. Who are you coming to see?”

Wally’s voice was kept at a soft tone that can be added into his charm. But (Name) couldn’t help but pick at the hint of anger that was faintly there behind his words. They look between the person and Wally questioningly whilst wondering what’s going on with their dear ol’ friend.

“Sally Starlet.. Speaking of her I should go see how she’s doing. It was nice meeting you two!” Before either of them gotten another word out, the unknown visitor had walked off. Without any final glances to Wally or (Name).

‘What the hell was that?’

They let out a soft sigh before seeing Wally take the open spot reserved for him beside them. (Name) readjusted themselves to facing more towards Wally. As expected he was looking at them with a calm look on his face.

Their observation from the conversation that took place moments before clouded their mind entirely. (Name) maintains eye contact with Wally once again, finding no other emotion other than his usual calm expression with that charming smile he had on his face.

“Is something on your mind, (Name)?” Wally’s gaze never moved or shifted even the slightest bit away from (Name).

Deciding against their own conscious they asked, “What was that just a while ago?”

“What do you mean?”

“You sounded a bit mad when you were talking to that newcomer,” (Name) states as they shifted around slightly to become more comfortable, but never broke eye contact with Wally. “You don’t show much emotion Darlin’ but I can tell that you were.. jealous.”

Wally stays silent. His face didn’t change even the slightest bit. It almost made (Name) second guess their answer to his question. It felt like an entirety before Wally’s monotonous laugh rang through their ears.

“I wouldn’t want to admit it myself, my dear. You see, the picnic was suppose to be the two of us. Alone.” Wally’s laughter faded by the time he finished talking. “It would’ve taken so long for us to enjoy this special day if I hadn’t dealt with them.”

(Name) looks to him with a conflicted look. This was something new even for them to see. Though they were quick to notice how the mood had darken slightly.

“They seem nice though,” there goes their first attempt. “Maybe if you weren’t jealous as fuck then—“

Wally feeds them one of the slices of apples that they made. (Name) looks to him with confusion as he smiles at them. “It’s rude to talk with your mouth full, darling.”

(Name) glares towards Wally playfully as they finish eating the apple slice. The irony of him using his last name as an nickname for them made them smile just a tiny bit. At least with that it lightened up the mood for the both of them. (Name) continues on with the conversation while switching the topic to something else to get their mind off of the visitor situation.

You loved you boyfriend exactly as he is, an outgoing and very likeable guy, extremely welcoming. This extended to everyone he met, with the new girl, Maddie, being no exception. You were sympathetic to her situation. It was not easy finding out you died, especially considering she was murdered with no recollection of her death.

It seems like Wally made it his life mission to cheer her up or at least make her feel a little less miserable. While you loved that he wanted to spread his cheer, you felt a little left behind as he shifted his focus to her.

So, when Field Day came, you saw it as a way to not only trash the school on retaliation for your imprisonment, you could also blow off a bit of your anger at the Wally-Maddie situation. As soon as you made it to the field, you picked up a metal bat and began swinging on a wooden pole nearby you. When you heard a vehicle pulling up, you perked your head up, hearing the laughs of Wally and Maddie. You watched as he guided her swings against the vending machines, then whipping off his shirt as he runs around cheering.

As stupid as it was, you could feel angry tears prick at the corners of your eyes. You quietly slipped away from the group, heading back to the school. You had almost made it back without being noticed, until you heard Mr. Martin softly call your name. You stopped, wiping your eyes, and turned towards him.

"Where are you going? Field day is out here," he asks, motioning towards the group of ghosts causing unseen chaos a few yards away.

"I think I'm done for the day. Just need to go take a walk inside, Mr. Martin. A little break from the crazy," you explained, trying to come off as nonchalant. You could tell Mr. Martin did not fully believe you, but he let you go without any further questioning, letting you know you could talk to him later if you needed to. You nodded and slipped back inside.

You roamed the halls of the school, allowing memories of your time whilst alive swirl through your head, some from after your death as well. Anger and sadness swelled in your chest, and paired with your slight jealousy of Maddie, as ridiculous as you knew it was, sent you over the edge. Hot tears blurred your vision, leaking down your cheeks as your forehead met with the cool metal of the lockers. Your fists slammed against the red, the sound echoing down the halls as a soft sob left you.

You were angry at yourself for getting this upset. You knew Wally loved you, that he would never intentionally hurt you. And you were sure Maddie was not looking for anything more than friendship, if she was even looking for that among her investigation.

Your loud thoughts and sobs left you deaf to the boy calling out to you from down the hall. you weren't made aware of his presence until his hand made gentle contact with your shoulder. You whipped around, startled, until your eyes met the rich brown eyes that you love so much. His eyebrows furrowed together as he glanced at the wet marks running down your face.

"Hey, what's wrong," he asked, concern laced in his voice.

"It's nothing, Wally. I'm just being silly," you replied, moving your arm to wipe your face.

"It's not silly if its making you this upset." His hands moved to your face, cupping your cheeks and tenderly wiping the wetness from under your eyes. You groaned, wanting to hide your face from him as you realized he wasn't planning on letting you go without an answer.

"Okay, okay, I have been feeling a little off lately," You started, only continuing once he nodded at you to. "I feel like I should be used to being dead by now, and I am pretty accepting of it, but days like this just remind me that I AM dead. Then I start thinking about my life, which sucks. But also… I haven't seen much of you recently."

He urged you to continue, bringing his face closer to yours.

"You've been a bit busy lately… With Maddie. Don't get me wrong, I love that you are trying to make her afterlife a bit better, and there is no one who can do it better than you. I am just feeling a little left behind."

Wally's eyes widened as a panicked look shot onto his face, dropping his hands from your cheeks, opting for wrapping his arms around your shoulders, crushing your body against his.

"No, no, no. That's not even close to what is happening, I swear. I just want to be friends with Maddie, nothing else," sincerety was apparent in his tone. You let out a quiet chuckle, wrapping your arms around his midsection and holding him as close as you could, burying your face in his chest.

"I know, I know. Call it paranoia. You would never hurt me," you mumbled against him. He pulled back, cupping your face again, staring into your eyes.

"Never ever. You're it for me. All I want and more."

"I don't regret meeting you. You are my everything, Wally Clark."

Your lips met in a sweet, firm kiss, trying to convey all the love you held to each other.

It was karaoke night over at Sally’s house. Sally has a stage so it makes it easier for y’all to karaoke together. Everyone was excitedly talking about their songs which they were going to sing. Well everyone but Wally. You wanted to go over and ask but Julie and Poppy were asking you , your opinion on a song they want to do as a duet. (You have a lot of records and a karaoke machine so you’re able to help). So everyone decided the order y’all would go in . Julie and Poppy, Barnaby, Eddie, Frank , Sally, Howdy, Wally, then it would be your turn. Everyone was so excited all smiles and everything.

So first up was Julie and Poppy. They sang together Respect. And everyone was excited and clapping at how fun they were having. At the end of the song everyone cheered and was wooing . You give them a thumbs up cause it was so good and they looked like they had so much fun. Barnaby was up next and of course he picked out a silly song. He sang the Monster Mash song, and you laughed cause it wasn’t even Halloween time. He was just singing and doing monster dance moves and everyone was laughing at him ,in a good way, just enjoying the night. After the last monster mash chorus, he bowed and got off stage with everyone cheering again. Next up was Eddie. He was red in the cheeks and mumbled that this song was for Frank. The song is called Stop in the Name of love. And he was so red in the face as he sang it looking lovingly at Frank the whole time. Oooooooo it made you so jealous and so happy for them. Who wouldn’t want a love like that. You’ve seen them hold hands on strolls through the neighbor hood and wish one day you have a relationship like theirs. After Eddie finished , he got off and gave Frank a kiss on the cheek telling him it was his turn. Frank being the type of guy who is quite shy, went on the stage and sang the song Close to You. You know like the verse in it “Why do birds suddenly appear? Every time you are near. Just like me they long to be. Close to you.” It was so sweet. You could tell they loved each other very much. You were enjoying karaoke night so much. You didn’t even see the eyes of the puppet who is staring at you the whole time. When Frank finished. He blushes and got off the stage and head towards Eddie , who gave his face a bunch of kisses. So sweet. Only three more left and then it was your turn. Sally picked out Here Comes the Sun. It was so cute and matched her sunny personality. You loved the beatles. Y’all just having so much fun. After Sally was done, it was Howdy’s turn. He sang this song called Busy Bee. You never heard of it before but it sure fit him. It was about a busy bee who worked a lot. It was very Howdy though. So you clapped at the end. Next was Wally.

Wally got on the stage staring back at all of us. He didn’t even let people know what he seeing. He just picks up the mic and starts singing. (I got the lyrics so you can imagine him singing it). “You're just too good to be true

He was staring at you the whole time as he sang. Your heart beat fast. You don’t really know if he likes you. But it felt like he was singing to you. And everyone else knew it was for you. Everyone knew from how much Wally stared at you. Yet you didn’t really notice until now. So y’all say. They can continue singing songs. You head over to Wally after he finished singing. “Yes neighbor , what can I do for you?” He asks smiling. “Um Wally , do you like me? That song seems to be for me . I feel like it was to me,” you blush feeling a bit silly. “Your right neighbor it was for you,” Wally says bluntly. “I like ya neighbor. I can’t take my eyes off you,” he smirks and kisses your hand smiling at you. You blushed and give him a cheek kiss. “ I like you to Wally. I honestly never thought you’d like me. You didn’t really show ,” you say blushing more . Everyone was watching from inside and cheered. You both finally admitted and may go forward with your feelings and how you feel now.

Wally anon: Here's where we vary a lotttt (but omg me too @ bi🙌). Billy & Stu have never done anything. for me in that dept. I think they're the best killer duo, hands down, but even after all these years I don't lose it over them like that. 🙈 Agreed on both accs of Mickey & Roman + Roman not getting enough love, though. 👍 Charlie & Jill don't really do it for me either although Jill is my overall f a v o r i t e killer. And, Quaid actually REALLY works for me as Richie, but I had a pretty mixed reaction on Ethan (alongside the rest of 6's killers; wayyy too much going on there). 🤫 I think there would've been a way to make him be the killer, but it would've probably led to more complication, so yup @ long-haired himbo. 🤭 Exactly @ Pyramid Head. But yeah @ Michael. I liked the physicality of him from the Blumhouse movies, but it's difficult to think about in many of the others (cause the mask is so shit in most of the past movies fkfsk). I think if he had a single other movie but. VI that were good, there would be more of a case for him for me but it's like, "Yes, one of the best Saws" to "And then allllll of the worst but Jig." 💀 Yupyupyup. Even 3 had a greater scope with having Ghostface running around LA + the house explosion, but 6 feels soooo small when it's like, hello??? it's supposed to be THE New York 🗽 Like, I didn't need ridiculous gimmicky locations, but 2 has t h r e e separate set-pieces set in theaters & they each feel completely different + fresh. Ayyy same!! Real about Billy and Stu not doing anything for you, they rank pretty low on my list and they’re a bit too twink-like😪 Glad we agree on Mickey and Roman. Roman better get me on film first with him as ghostface (and we make a certain kind of movie ykyk) Same on Jill being my favorite killer! It’s just… no movie ever had the balls to make a “sequel/reboot” that messed with the new main final girl expectation. Clever and still gags me to this day because it was that GOOD. I think Quaid’s best role is Richie. Might be a hot take but I think he’s misplaced in The Boys + him with a beard is soooo fitting. Ethan is a mixed bag like you said, I love him sometimes but also I hate him. He’s sooo bland it’s almost painful to think he was a ghostface to begin with, because he feels more like a first draft one over anything else. He’s trying so hard to be a Mickey/Billy clone it’s sad. Yesss ugh just have him dress up in the outfit for looks sake, and then have him take it alll offfff🫣😮‍💨 SAME UGH WHEN MICHAEL GETS HANDSY AND ALL STRONG🤭 I love how touchy he gets, and yessss the mask is so ass in every movie after the first. Fifth and Sixth are particularly embarrassing in that regards. And yesss Scream 6 wasted so much potential. They had finally gone east coast and wasted it. Exactly!! I’m literally only staying with the MCU for projects Bucky is in because his character was pretty good in TFATWS🥴 (and the metal arm omg…) and for Matt Murdock (who’s got a new show that doesn’t seem promising :( and a cameo in Echo. yayyy another cameo. But his character didn’t seemed to be ruined in She-Hulk so maybe there’s hope). Steve and those two were my favorites of the OG 2018 and before era. Endgame fucked so much up with Steve and Bucky alone, and Im glad they didn’t lay a finger on Matt. Yes ugh I loved how get out handled it because he’s the comedic element of the film (and it stays solely in his scenes) and like you said, he doesn’t actually appear until the very end. SEBASTIAN LOOKED SO GOOD IN THE ROLE. And the trifecta of psychotic men from the MCU is complete with Evan’s role as Ransom, Stan’s role as Steve, and Cox’s role in Kin (i forget the name). Random and Steve most, though. Charlie is only ever really appealing to me in Daredevil tbh… Also yeah I hate Jill in Saw. She tries to act smart and clever but she’s dumb as hell and just gets outsmarted and dies anyways, so why keep her alive all this time?? She was also wayyy to unclear with her motive because, like you said, she wanted to turn Hoffmann in but then not really. Like make up your mind miss girl!!

Exactly… it feels like everything has something that upsets them. Like wow, way to say you can’t enjoy life or anything of the sort. I know people who can take much more and complain a lot less😪

HalKyle: What are Guy and the others thoughts on their relationship?

Guy thinks of both of them as his brothers, so it’s definitely a bit awkward when they announce their relationship. He’s ready to kick himself for not noticing it sooner. He still takes Hal aside and tells him to be careful with Kyle’s feelings, and that he’ll punch him back into shape if Hal ever runs off. Afterwards, Guy is very supportive and always willing to offer his (bad) romantic advice to the both of them. He’s happy they found each other.

John sighs and shakes his head. He’s happy for them too, but somehow Hal is even more annoying now that he keeps on making raunchy calls to Kyle on the official Lantern communications channel.

Alan raises an eyebrow. He doesn’t trust Hal in any relationship. This is, what, his 10th one? With Alan’s own daughter’s ex-boyfriend to boot. He just hopes Hal knows what he’s doing, and that he’ll settle down and get a real job, and stop being an embarrassment to the rest of the hero community.

Carol laughs herself silly, half from bitterness and half from amusement. She can’t do anything now that Hal is dating someone else, and she regrets missing her chance, but she still hopes he’ll be happy. After all, they’re still friends.

Tom Kalmaku is overjoyed to see Hal happy and trying to put his life back together again. He invites Hal and Kyle to his family get-togethers, and tries to provide them with a sense of community.

Donna is very happy for Kyle, but feels awkward because Hal feels like an uncle to her. It’s pretty much that way with all the Teen Titans. Wally outright choked when he got the news, and it feels like a piece of his innocence has been shattered forever. Kyle rubs it in his face by telling him to call him “Uncle Kyle.” Donna and Starfire, after they stop feeling so awkward about Hal, thinks that he and Kyle make a cute couple. Donna keeps on asking to do a photoshoot with them. Roy keeps on fuming. He’s jealous of Kyle for stealing all of Hal’s attention, because due to his once-fras yed relationship with Ollie, Hal has become a surrogate father figure for him. First it was Donna, then Hal, Kyle seems to be intruding on all his relationships.

If Ollie is around by then, he and Dinah are very happy for Hal, though they tease him viciously about robbing the cradle. They’re also always ready with advice. Dinah spreads the news to the Birds of Prey. Zinda vehemently denies the possibility of her being just a little disappointed because Hal was so cute and now he’s taken. Of course Helena never stops teasing her about being jealous over Hal.

If Barry is around, he’s a little blindsided by Hal’s new love interest, but soon come to accept him. It does disturb him because Kyle is closer to Wally’s age, but it seems that both he and Hal know what they’re doing. Like Tom, Barry makes sure to invite them to family get-togethers and holiday celebrations.

Kilowog congratulates both of them with claps on the back that leave them coughing, and then warns them not to be too distracted with each other. Kyle sometimes goes to him for advice when he doesn’t know how to get through to Hal.

Salaak threatens to punish both of them twice as hard if they make any mistakes due to being distracted with each other while on a mission. Privately, he’s just a little jealous of how easily humans seem to be able to find love. He might be a pencil pusher, but he can still get lonely.

Mogo allows them to use his forests and hills as trysting locations, as long as they hang out with him. Mogo is a lonely planet.

Reader thought that he likes one of their former team mates and is a bit jealous -the kind where it's "I wish that was me", but it turns out he only had eyes for them.

A/N: you guys should know by now that writing Dick is like my favorite thing ever....

Your apartment feels pretty lonely in the dark. Total silence fills every inch of the apartment as you pull your legs close to your chest. You weren’t scared, or depressed, it was just so lonely....Something you had never felt before, you spent 5 years living in Mount Justice - And people always came and go over there, you were never alone.

But now, just a week after you moved to your own apartment, loneliness was starting to crawl into your skin. A knock on the door makes you snap out of your thoughts. 

You stand up, your bare feet cold against the hardwood floors and you make your way to the door. Opening it, a smile creeps onto your face as you see Dick grin down at you.

“Hey stranger, can i come in? I brought you foood.” He chants with a big smile, showing you a bag of Big Belly Burger and you roll your eyes.

“You know i can’t deny you anything when you bring food, come in dummy.” You reply, moving aside so he can walk in. The apartment was very dark, except for a lamp that was lit on the coffee table and the light from the tv.

“Are you a vampire or something? Why is it so dark in here?.” He asks, taking off his jacket and throwing it to the couch.

“I like the dark.” You reply shortly and make your way to the kitchen, opening the bag to find fries and two hamburgers. You swoon over the food and groan in satisfaction when you pop a fry into your mouth. 

“Hey don’t eat them all!.” Dick protests as he makes his way to you and takes the bag with him to the couch. There’s some silly sitcom playing on the tv as you sit on the couch with Dick. “The Team already misses you by the way.” He comments and you stiffle a laugh.

“C’mon it’s not like i left the Team, i just moved out of Mount Justice.” You shrug and he sighs. “What’s up with you?.” You ask, taking another fry and looking at him with a raised eyebrow. You see how a few wrinkles form in between his eyebrows as he furrows them.

“It’s just the leader thing, it’s kind of hard you know? I never know if i made the right decision or not, every single day the Team goes out there i fear i might slip up and make the wrong call.” He replies, running a hand through his hair and you half smile.

“Dick, you are a great leader. You always know what to do, and you are guided not just by simple instinct - but by your kind heart too, i assure you that you are the leader this Team needed.” You reassure him and he looks at you, still a little unsure.

“You really think so?.” He asks, with his blue eyes staring into yours. You sheepishly smile and grab his hand, running your thumb across his skin.

“Everyone thinks so.” You reply and he grins, there’s a moment of silence before he clears his throat and looks the other way - slightly nervous. 

“Zatanna has been helping me too, i mean she spends a lot of time with the Justice League but whenever she has time she comes over and we talk.” He pops a fry into his mouth and you grimace. Another mention of Zatanna, how many times have you heard her name throughout the week? They were hard to keep count of.

“Well um- that’s good.” You mumble as your hand pulls away from Dick’s, you being to fiddle around with your hands. “Are you like, dating her?.” You ask lowly and you hear him stiffling a laugh.

“I mean Zatanna and i had our fling sometime ago, but no - We are not dating.” He replies and you nod, he looks at you and raises an eyebrow. “Why do you ask?.” He asks and you look up to him. His hand is holding onto the bag, and his black hair falls aimlessly on his forehead. It was so nice to have him here, to have him there for you always.

“Because it’s hard to keep up with all the girls you have been with, i’m trying to catch up.” You reply wittily and shrug with a smile as he blows a raspberry. 

“C’mon don’t act like you haven’t had your fair share of guys.” He teases and you roll your eyes playfully. “Let’s see; Wally-.”

“THAT WAS YEARS AGO!.” You shout and cackle as he chuckles.

“The creepy guy from High School,what was his name? -- Oh yeah! Daniel was his name. God i hated that jerk, he took you to prom.” Dick reminisces as he sighs, and for an instant he seems lost in thought.

“He wasn’t creepy.” You retort and he clicks his tongue.

“Yes he was! He asked me what shampoo you used!.” He comments and you both burst out laughing. After a few seconds you two catch your breath and he sighs, looking down. 

“You took Zatanna to prom, i remember.” You blurt out, nodding as you remember, even thinking about it hurt. Not only did it hurt then, but it still hurt now. After all these years, he had no idea that he was still the one you wanted. 

Sure you two are friends, and you both were there for each other. But he would never see you like that. He nods too, looking idly at something. 

“She looked beautiful.” He mumbles and you feel a lump on your throat as you look down at your hands. “And you looked gorgeous.” He says, he is still looking idly at something and you look up to him. “You were wearing this beautiful dark blue dress, it was long - I remember you almost slipping when you were dancing with Daniel-.” He chuckles and your mouth falls agape. “Anyway, you were easily the most gorgeous girl i had ever seen. With your hair falling down your shoulders, you had curled it. And you just looked perfect.” He sighs, with a goofy smile tugging on his lips. Your breath hitches and he then, looks at you. “I actually wanted to ask you to go to prom with me, but - Daniel beat me to it, so i asked Zatanna.” He confesses and you bite your bottom lip.

Why was he saying all of this? And what was more infuriating - Why now?. His words weren’t helping you at all, it just made you want to be with him more. And in your head you cursed at yourself for agreeing to go with creepy Daniel to prom.

“It’s kind of funny how things work out.” He says after a few seconds of silence. You were still unable to say a word.

“I just can’t believe you remember what i was wearing and everything.” You reply, looking at him shocked, and he half smiles, taking the bag off his lap and laying it on the coffee table. “And i can’t believe you wanted to go to prom with me, Zatanna was all you talked about when we were in High School and whenever we went to missions with her, you would always be by her side. Even now, you are still hung up on her.”  You blurt out and his mouth open and closes repeatedly - You could tell he wanted to say something but he was holding back.

He sighs and turns to face you, he reaches for your hand and laces his fingers in between yours. “She is not the one i’m hung up on.” He says slowly and you take a deep breath. Was he kidding?. “Y/N i have always liked you, since we were two 15 year olds just fighting crime and trying to keep up with a somewhat normal life.” He says, his eyes locked in yours. His voice trembles. “You have always been on my mind, you and only you. I tried to push those feelings away because i was sure you didn’t feel the same way about me, but i just couldn’t. I couldn’t stay away from you.” He sighs and you bite your bottom lip, his body moves slightly closer to you but you were unable to move. “There has always been soemthing about you, something that makes me feel so at ease, even with my messed up life. Whenever you were around - whenever you are around - i just feel happier.”

“You are the most amazing, gorgeous and smartest girl i have ever met, and listen, i’m okay if you don’t feel the same way about me. Truth is that even being your friend is an honor, i just love having you in my life and i really really hope i didn’t mess things up by telling you this-.”

“What took you so long?.” You interrupt and he looks at you slightly stunned. “I have liked you since what it feels like forever-.” You confess, and you let out a chuckle. “This is insane.” You mumble and he chuckles too.

With his free hand, he cups your cheek. The blush on your cheeks doesn’t take long to appear, and you see a sparkle on his eyes that you had never seen before, and the simple thought of you being the reason that sparkle is there makes your stomach flutter. His thumb caresses your cheek softly, and your eyes close at the feeling. He leans into you and you meet him halfway.

Your lips connect and it’s like jigsaw puzzles pieces coming together. His lips move against yours ever so gently as his hand traces figures from your cheek to your jaw. One of your hands goes up to his bicep, grasping it gently as the other runs along his jaw to the nape of his neck - resting it there. Even as sweet as the kiss is, it was longing and passionate - You both had dreamed about kissing each other ever since those feelings started to bloom. 

The sound of your lips against his fills the apartment, he pulls away and as soon as he does, you are already missing the feeling of his lips against yours.

He rests his foreahead against yours and you can see a cheeky smile tugging on his lips.

“You are so beautiful, you know that?.” He whispers and you lick your lips.

“I think i might need you to say it again.” You whisper and he smirks.

“What if i say it with a kiss?.” He teases and you smirk too, both of your hands clasp around his neck.

“I wouldn’t mind.” You reply and he kisses you once again. He suddenly grabs you by the back of your thighs and pulls you onto his lap, never parting from your lips. You are breathless as his hands roam from your thighs to your back, he then pulls away just enough to leave a sweet kiss on your shoulder. 

“I really freaking like you, Y/N.” He mumbles, locking eyes with you as his hands place around your face and then runs his fingers through your hair. He looks at you so sweetly, and your heart is about to explote from the overload of love you had for this boy.

“I really freaking like you, Dick.” You mumble back and an even wider smile spreads on your face and his. 

He cuddled with you, stole kisses from you through the whole evening, and repeated how much he liked you. Because after years after not daring to say those words all he wanted to do is shout to the world how much he actually liked you. He looks infinitely happy and even vows to make you happy every single day.

And you believe him, because he is the only man capable of making you happy by simply breathing.

Your dad adores you so much; you’re his baby girl

I’m going on a limb here and say that you’re the oldest of your siblings - Don and Dawn

So growing up with your family, you’re a mix of Barry and Iris - dorky, silly, stubborn and flirty when need be

You’re also a speedster and Barry is a really great mentor. An easily jealous one, Iris may add, because whenever Wally tries teaching you, your father has this pouty look on his face. Jay merely smiles and will personally mentor you when he wants to tease Barry. Of course, all these speedsters are your mentors; you’re a family

Whenever you need help, you know you can approach any of them for help. And if it involves you crying, someone needs some beating up to the future and back, of course not literally. Maybe literally. Just don’t tell Iris and Joan

He brings you to meet the other heroes a lot, especially Hal and Oliver/Dinah. They grow to love you and see you as their own baby girl, much to Barry’s displeasure

You become a sidekick to your dad as much as Wally is

Hal will teach you the ways of flirting but you never have the heart to tell him you are an expert in that area thanks to your mother

Dinah will bring you (and occasionally Iris and Dawn) for a girl’s night out which includes going to the mall, mani and pedi, etc with some ass-kicking at the end of the night. Iris will be just a happy and proud by-stander

You got to meet Roy when he was still under Oliver’s mentorship and you both hit it off well. You guys become great friends, partners-in-crime even. Not really in crime, maybe sometimes, but just harmless pranks

Wally is usually the victim of these pranks and it always ends with a cold shoulder from him but with some affections, he will forgive you. Roy, not so much

When Oliver and Roy fought, both of you drifted and you hang out more with Wally instead

But, Wally has the (teen) Titans and even if you are invited to it, you refused. So you spend these time with your siblings or doing your own gig

Your siblings love you and whatever tricks they pick up from you always end with Barry just sighing and Iris giving you a disapproval look

But you are there with a proud grin and it is hard to be mad at them considering how they’re always looking at you for approval of some sort

You are the best older sister they can ask for as you help them with homework, hero missions, heartaches and everything in between

Having your own gig - after blessings from your mother and a hesitant father - means racing across the country and the world

You are more involved with missions overseas as America itself has heroes stationed across the country so there is little work for you within the country

During these missions overseas, you will take your time - sometimes it’s good to slow down as advised by Iris - to explore the city and of course getting some souvenirs for your family. Gag gifts are usually given to Wally, he still keeps them though

You meet the outlaws once on a mission overseas. While they are fighting off some goons, you are there for sightseeing after a mission well-done the morning before

After defeating them and seeing you are the only one around other than them, Roy realise how familiar you look and call out to you

You run to him to hug him and in your excitement, you forget about your powers so Roy ends up with more bruises from you than the goons themselves

Jason link your speed to the Flash fam and take note that you are the girl he always see with Wally when he was Robin so it all click in his head on how you are Barry’s daughter

Kori, not so much

After a hug session with Roy which ends with his almost death, you introduce yourself to the other two and Kori take an instant liking to you. If Iris was there, she would say how it is a perk of being a West-Allen

Jason couldn’t care less but seeing his best friend being more hyped with you around, he does not mind you sticking around

He realise why later on when he sees you two crafting some weapon together. At that moment, he realised he made decision

You didn’t really stay with them but return home when the day ends. But you’ll always come back after finishing your mission the following day

When Roy and Kori hook up, you and Jason feel compelled to spend more time together and leave them be. So there are days where both of you will explore the city together

“And you didn’t invite me? I thought I was your best friend?”

“We shall leave them be Roy, I sense love brewing within them.”

“OOooOOoo. I get to be best man!”

Jason wish you stay overnight sometimes

When Wally is lost in the speed force and everyone forgot him, you too forgot about him. But, you always had this empty feeling in your chest whenever you work at Star Labs without him there

At attempts to get the empty feeling in your soul, you travel more often and that means spending more time with Jason

Roy is with the Titans and Kori with the Teen Titans so it only leaves you two

Jason didn’t mind and find your presence to be calming. You two always joke around and sometimes flirt with each other. Okay, maybe more than just sometimes

Jason is overprotective of you so whenever the people he’s dealing with are uncultured swines, he makes sure they will not be interacting with you

After missions, you two will spend the rest  of the day walking through the city and if it’s late, to the bar you will go

You can’t get drunk and Jason has a high tolerance for it but it’s funny seeing a dorky side to Jason when he does get drunk

So when you didn’t show up one day and the few days after that, he gets a bit lonely but he brushes it off since he has missions to do

So when all is done and over, he returns to Gotham and all he can think of is you. He tries filling his days by helping his family, he’d rather be beaten by the Joker again than admitting that, but when the nights get a bit too long for his liking with no criminals to beat up, his mind always wanders back to you and what you’re doing in his absence

Dick, being the ever-perceptive older brother, knows he has girl troubles so he messages you

And one silent night, you speed over to the clock tower in Gotham, and there you see Jason sitting with his favourite gargoyle

When he turns to find you instead of his brothers, he is taken aback but before he can say  anything, words tumble out of your mouth at the speed of light and he cannot understand a single thing

So he approaches you, put his hands on your shoulder and tell you to slow down which you did and repeat the whole thing and he understands that you have been spending those days with Wally after him getting out of the speed force

You apologise over and over and to stop you from apologising again, he kisses you, after taking out his mask of course

Your eyes widen before fluttering to a close and you pull him closer by his leather jacket

His brothers are in the building over and are witnessing the whole thing. Dick is taking pictures and sending them to Wally

Wally sends them over to Barry and he is screeching

But then, HR decided he wanted in too.

And things got worse.

“(Y/N)! What do you want the flowers in the tables to be like?” Iris asked.

“Hmmm, not a bad choice but …OH I KNOW! (f/f) and (second f/f)! They represent us so nicely! What do you say, dear?”

“I like it.” You smiled.

“Now, I think a nice wedding in the beach would be awesome.” Caitlin got out of nowhere some pics of weddings in beaches. Iris frowned.

“No, it would get to sandy. I think a nice wedding in a beautiful forest, with flowers all around and the sunset as a background would be so cute.” She sighed.

“I like your idea, Iris! But what if we could have the two?”

“How?!” Caitlin and Iris asked.

HR began explaining about a place he knew but you slipped away and went to Cisco, Barry and Wally, who were playing cards. You sat next to Barry, tired.

“They drained you already?” Cisco smirked and you sighed.

“They seem more excited about my wedding that me” Wally, who was next to you pated your head.

“There, there. It’s the first time one of their best friends marries. And you made them bridesmaids. It their wedding as much as it is yours”

“I can’t even imagine when you go choose a wedding dress” Barry whistled. Your eyes widened

“Oh god.”

Jess entered Harry’s lab with a smile in her face, shouting happily that they got a message from you. Jess gave it to Harry and his s eyes widened before a smile broke on his face.

He had been waiting for you to reach him. He wanted to have a reason to return and confess his feelings. Jess who knew of his feelings and approved of them insisted on staying. That way Harry would be happy with you and she could work and train with the team.

They had to return to Earth 2.

“What are you waiting for? Open it, dad!” Jess hurried

Harry opened it and a Hologram of you appeared.

Harry smiled lovingly at your figure. Jess looked at his dad, happy.

Suddenly another Harrison appeared on the hologram with you, he smiled and grabbed your hand. You smiled back before starting to speak.

HR and I would like you to invite you to our wedding the first day of March. “As the message played Harry’s smile disappeared and pain embraced his heart.

First he lost his wife and now

He lost you.

The only thing in the world beside his daughter he loved with all his being.

Jess who saw her dad’s pain grabbed his hand.

“Also, Jess I would love if you became my bridesmaid. In the short time I know you you’ve become like my daughter. I would be honored if you said yes” Your hologram smiled lovingly and Jess eyes clouded with tears. Harry hugged his daughter, she was as heartbroken as him. Knowing that you also considered her your daughter brought happy tears to her eyes but they soon became sad at the fact that you here marrying another Harrison Wells that wasn’t her dad.

Suddenly HR spoke happily.

“I would like if you, Harry would become my best man! You know, us Harrison have stay together! Haha”

Harry’s eyes narrowed. He knew he wasn’t going to like him.

“no way. I won’t become his “best man”!”

Jess eyes keep looking at you happy figure. She was happy for you, but she wanted you to be happy with them, in Earth 2.

Was that to selfish?

“So we would be very happy to see you soon on Earth 1! The team and I have missed you tremendously. Lots of love and kisses” You send their way kisses as HR imitated your gesture.

The two of you looked at each other before saying:

“Yours truly

HR Wells “he said “and (Y/N) (L/N)-Wells.” You said and the hologram shut down

Jess and Harry looked at the ground, sad.

They felt that you were marrying the wrong Harrison Wells.

“We shouldn’t go.” Harry said. Jess turned toward her father.

“No way!  We should totally go!” Jess said

“I can’t see her with-with that imposter!”

“Then we should show her who the better Harrison is! He lied to them once, he must have other secrets! We could break the up!” Jess planed.

“I don’t want to hurt her, Jess. I love her, and if she chose him I’ll support her, even if it kills me inside.”

“Dad…” Jess mumbled as Harry went to search for his bag.

Her dad maybe didn’t want to break you up, but she will sure try to do it.

“They’re here!” Cisco said.

“(y/N)! Barry! Guys!” Jess yelled before hugging you, pushing HR away of you.

“Jess, I missed you!” she smiled before going to Barry and the rest.

“Harry!” You hugged him. Harry hugged you tightly, his face leaned on your head.

“I missed you, (y/n). So much.”

“I think you know each other already” You said gesturing to HR, who came to you and stick his hand out to Harry to shake. They shook hands but it was tense and if looks would kill there won’t be any Harrison Wells, anymore.

“Nice to see you again” Harry said so icily that Captain Cold would be proud.

“Likewise” HR ‘s smile was tense and his eyes glared at Harry.

The two of them were aware that Harry has got feelings for you, and the two of them felt threatened and jealous of one another.

“So tell me, you’ve got a dress already?” Jess asked you. The girls were having a sleepover at your place. HR was with the guys in the lab, working in something he didn’t want to tell you, he said it was a “surprise”.

“I don’t. I-”

 Iris interrupted you

“She wanted to wait for you to go choose our dresses. So now that you are here… Tomorrow we go in a perfect bride dress search!”

“YEAH” All the girls said.

You decided to let the girls pick one dress for you.

Bad idea, (y/n)

“What do you think of this one?” You said as you came out of the changingroom with a puffy dress with puffy sleeves.

Caitlin and Iris frowned. They thought it would look better on you, but no.

“...no, then?” You said looking at their horryfied faces.

They shook their heads no.

“Try another!” They pushed you toward the changing room.

A few minutes later you came out in a trumpet styled dress with   Rhinestones on the hip.

“How about this one?”

“I like this one!” Caitlin said. This one was totally the one she picked out for you.

Iris frowned.

“I don’t like it.”

“It’s because it isn’t your choice” Caitlin said

“Try mine!” Jess now pushed you towards the changing room.

10 min after you got out of there with a mermaid style dress with embroided diamonds and that suited your body perfectly. A long veil with a simple tiara adorned your head.

The girls’ breath stopped.

“If you weren’t my engaged best friend I  would marry you right now” Caitlin said, flabergasted.

“I would totally marry you too” Iris said. 

“I know for a fact, that my dad’s mouth will fall to the ground whe he sees you. He already drools for you dressed casually.” Jess said High-fiving herself in her head for chosing this one for you.

“Jess, don’t say silly things.” You smiled at her, thinking that she was just kidding.

“Girls, I think i got my dress!!” You said happily, all of the girls cheered and hugged you. All of you ignorant to Jess plan and a shadow that had been following you at high speed.

The next time all of you had dinner together… let’s say it was awkward.

Part 2 of Jess plan in action!

AKA Make her dad jealous.

“Have you seen them, dad? She looks so happy with him. Imagine how could have it endend if you wooed her before and she came with us to earth 2.”

“....” Harry’s eyes were following you, as you kissed HR, as you hugged HR, as HR gave you of his food and whispered dirty things in your ear, making you blush.

Those should have been HIS dirty things.

Jess saw her dad’s anger leavel increasing and smirked.

“I wonder if they will have children...” Jess whispered looking at her dad.” I know if you had married her, I’ll be having a little sis/bro by now.”

“...”Harry’s eyes narrowed more as HR licked a bit of your food out of your cheek.

“They will make love to one another and then the fruit of their love will result in a bundle of joy that will look like her and you, because HR and you look the same. But it won’t be yours, he/she will call you uncle Harry, and you’ll look at their family wishing you would have confessed your undiying feelings for her.”

But the icing on the cake came when HR asked Harry a question.

And Harry like a good jealous douche answered insulting HR.

“I don’t know why you chose a man that dresses like that, (y/n)” Harry said, looking at HR’s choice of clothing.”You could do much better.”

“You say that because you don’t have any fashion sense whatsoever!” HR smirked looking at Harry’s clothes.

“At least I’m a genius scientific. What are you exactly?”

HR growled.

“Oh, right. You are an average copy of me.” Harry smirked.

“You little-“

“STOP THE TWO OF YOU!” You hit the table and everyone looks at you.” Harry, a word please.”

Harry got up from his chair and followed you. Once you were far enough for the team not to eavesdrop, you sighed.

“What’s gotten into you?! You’ve been acting like a jackass! Far more than usual. It’s as if you’re-“You looked at Harry, eyes wide. Harry looked down.

“Jealous…” you whispered.

“…” Silence filled the room as the two of you looked at each other, daring at each other to say something.

“…What if I am?” Harry whispered

“Harry, what-“

“WHAT IF I AM SO F*CKING JEALOUS OF YOU MARRYING THAT GOOD FOR NOTHING COPY OF ME WHEN I’VE BEEN IN LOVE WITH YOU SINCE I KNEW YOU! WHAT IF I’M JEALOUS OF SEEING YOU KISS HIM, HUG HIM WHEN THOSE SHOULD BE MINE! WHAT IF I’M F*CKING JEALOUS THAT WE CAN’T BE A FAMILY! THAT YOU WILL GO WITH HIM TO EARTH 19 WHEN YOU REJECTED GOING TO EARTH 2 WITH ME AND JESS! WHAT IF I’M JEALOUS HE GETS MAKE LOVE TO YOU AND I CAN’T! What if I’m jealous that he has taken you away from me?” Harry’s voice turned in a whisper.

Coldhearted

I fucking love this episode. With like, the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. Because the animation is fucking flawless and the snow looks beautiful and Wally is 100% amazing! This may in fact be my favorite episode, certainly within my top 5 fav episodes if I had to rate them. PREPARE YOUR ANUS FOR LOTS OF IMAGES BECAUSE 500% OF MY APPRECIATION FOR THIS EPISODE IS ALL THE ANIMATION PORN.

Oh so clever, Greg and co., hiding the first number on Wally’s alarm clock so that is simply reads “16″ on his 16th birthday in a show where the number 16 is a constant theme. I’M ON TO YOU.

You ever notice how Wally has a poster of a female with really long blonde hair on his bedroom wall? Like we all know he’s just being a horndog teenaged boy, but like... GOT A THING FOR LONG BLONDE HAIR OR SOMETHING, WALLY? 

Things confirming Wally is a huge nerd: lots of dorky looking action figures, a model rocket ship, a Flash poster, a microscope and lots and lots of books (probably of the science variety... and comics, no doubt), poster of some boxer dude, a poster for some horror movie called Day of Dark, and a piece of art I’ve seen on Jerome K. Moore’s deviantart of Wally, Barry, and Jay in their Flash get-ups. How cute! Also a poster or something that just looks like a pair of shoes on someone’s feet??? Idk about that one, it’s pretty dark. (I would take screenshots but sadly blu-ray format prevents me from doing so, and I don’t already have one saved in my extensive library of screens)

Damn, Mary sure is good, turning on the TV at the exact moment that Iris got to Wally’s birthday wish in her broadcast.

“Say Whaaaaaaaat, oh you guys, you shouldn’t have!” What a fucking little shit.

A little shit with the best facial expressions though, amiright?

Okay. Time to stop being silly for a moment as we approach the part that many people have a problem with. This is the part where I crack my knuckles and have a differing opinion than most.

So here we have Wally’s birthday party, and him hinting around that he wants a birthday kiss from Miss M. It’s obvious that’s what he’s wheedling for, anyone with a pair of eyes can see that. And Artemis, who happens to have a pair of perfectly functioning eyes (arguably better than most, considering some of the amazeballs shots she’s made) happens to be standing right next to the little duo as the first exchange happens.

Artemis gets understandably annoyed and, of course, jealous. That’s her crush (that she’s been trying to forget about, but that’s been a huge no-go because it turns out the crush of her crush is dating her fallback crush… this is getting confusing). Trying to get a kiss from another girl. Of course she’s jealous.

I fucking would be, too. It’s a completely natural reaction. Artemis would never, ever admit it even over her dead body, but she wishes she was the one he was wanting a kiss from so bad.

Anyway, even Miss M guesses what he wants, and she decides to give him a kiss on the forehead because she’s his friend and nothing more. Artemis gets some obvious satisfaction from this. Is it petty? Well, yeah, but who ever said jealousy wasn’t petty? We’ve all been in that kind of position, be it with a crush or something else entirely, where something happens that ruins something for someone else and you just can’t help but feel completely fucking smug/happy about it even though you know you’re being an awful person for doing so.

Artemis is glad he gets denied because it means he’s not kissing a girl that isn’t her, and perhaps to another end, she’s smug about it because that means he’s getting denied his crush in the same way she was denied her fallback crush. Like, she knows Megan and Conner are a thing, and she already lost any chance at forgetting Wally via Conner, and now Wally is blatantly being denied his crush on Megan, so Artemis is basically taking huge, huge petty pleasure in him basically getting denied the same thing as her. They both have crushes on two people that are already in a relationship together, and if Artemis has to wake up and smell the coffee about it, then Wally is going to, too.

Is our girl Artemis being petty? Hell yes she is! And that just makes me love her more, because she’s a multi-faceted human being with emotions. Is she reacting in a bad way to said emotions? Yes! But this is all sort of in the same vein that Wally and Artemis meet each other in, where Wally’s bad reaction leads to a bad reaction on Artemis’s part, and then the two of them suffer the belligerent relationship that they do all season because of it. Artemis and Wally are both very raw people.

FUN TIME BREAK: “I know this is all very new and intimidating, but I promise you, someday, you’ll get used to watching Wally eat.”

So majestic!

Back to for serious: Artemis walks up to Dick and Zee and is like “Think we should tell him?”

Look at that devious face, my god Artemis you amazing spiteful thing, you!

“He is the only one who doesn’t know.” “Then, please, allow me.”

Artemis wants to burst his bubble the same way hers was burst. It is, without a doubt, 100% petty and horrible and born of jealousy, I’m not denying that. But it does NOT make me want to throw Artemis under the bus or act like she’s a horrible gargoyle or that she’s a bitch or what the fuck ever. It just makes me more interested in her motivations for this moment, it just makes me want to understand every catalyst that leads to this moment, the frustration. In Secrets, Artemis was mad and angry and mildly hurt because Conner is taken, Wally doesn’t want her, and now she’s stuck with her stupid feelings for a guy that she thinks is unobtainable, and I can understand how said feelings creeping back so unbidden into one’s mind with no other place to channel them would drive them to be spiteful about it when the opportunity arises.

I also just want to remind everyone that Wally and Artemis are 15 year old teenagers (well, 16 in Wally’s case as of this episode, but still). They are teenagers with charged emotions about fucking everything, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. They are not the mature adults they grow into slowly over the five year gap. They’re mature for teenagers in a lot of aspects, sure, with the kind of jobs they have they have to be. But they are still young and learning how to deal with certain kinds of emotions and situations. So to an extent some leniency needs to be given when they act like this. I’m not saying to entirely excuse it, rather just understand it and why and what have you.

Anyway, by the time Coldhearted rolls around, Artemis has been stuck with her Wally feelings again for however long the gap is between Secrets and Coldhearted, and she’s had enough of seeing Wally pine after unobtainable Megan in the same way she was pining over unobtainable Conner. So she’s like, fuck it, I’m telling him.

And she does. With much obvious pleasure.

And on his birthday, no less. That seems to be the major act of heinousness that people can’t seem to get past when it comes to this scene in particular, is that it was on Wally’s birthday. His celebratory 16th birthday where everything should be happy fun time and all that jazz. It’s really hard for me to be bothered about it being on his birthday when it’s so obvious that Wally’s not even all that shocked or hurt about finding out. In fact, I’m convinced that both Artemis and Wally subconsciously knew that Megan and Conner were not interested in them/were taken long before they were actually privy to open evidence of it. They were just fooling themselves because they’re too afraid of owning up to the ways they feel for each other. In both cases, Conner and Megan were fallback/distraction crushes, and never anything more.

Wally literally does not fucking care after expressing his dejected “Oh maaaaan!” after Artemis informs him of the lovebirds. That’s it. That is literally it. Not once in the time we are privy to Wally’s innermost thoughts does he mention anything about Megan and Conner, or even Artemis. His concerns are all for the big League/Team team-up and later on for Perdita. Wally only had something that he subconsciously knew all along confirmed to him, and it fucking sucked, but that’s it. For the rest of the episode and every episode after, Wally has already moved on.

In fact, by Insecurity he has sufficiently matured from the events of Coldhearted and finally decides to “man up” for lack of a better phrase, and actually accept and try pursuing his feelings for Artemis. Pursue them in a real way, not in the exaggerated, ego-driven flirting way that he does with Megan. But in a very real, I’m-really-really-interested-in-this-girl kind of way; the fallback, safe distraction of Megan has been removed, allowing Wally to focus on how he really feels for Artemis.

In fact, I’ll just let Greg’s Spitfire rant speak for me on this one, as he puts it the best:

“Plus, let’s not forget the double-whammy of “Failsafe” and “Disordered”. Here we reveal just how intensely Wally feels for Artemis, and just how much interest each has in the other. The trick is that neither is prepared to take a risk. Rejection from Superboy (such as it was) is nothing compared to the fear Artemis has over being rejected by Wally.

Wally meanwhile is afraid to admit his strong feelings for Artemis, so maintains focus on the safer Miss Martian. Artemis does the same toward Superboy. Both then have to be disabused of the nothing that their crushes are viable. I tend to think that deep down, the revelation about Conner and M’gann’s relationship was less of a shock to each than it seemed. They didn’t want to admit to themselves what they were probably sensing deep down. One reason for Artemis’s extreme reaction to the knowledge, I think, is that she was trying SO hard to think that Superboy was a possibility BECAUSE Wally clearly seemed NOT to be, and so she wanted to having something she could use to push Wally out of her mind.

So in “Coldhearted”, Wally learns some big lessons. Miss Martian is out of the picture-- and that helps to clear his mind. But mostly, he matures solidly in the episode. Now he’s ready to behave differently. [...]”

Part of this is going to wind up leading me into a rant that’s better saved for when I get to Insecurity, though, so I’ll just go ahead and wrap this up.

Basically, I agree that Artemis was being petty and spiteful. She was jealous, I expect nothing less from her. But that just makes her a more amazing character, because truly amazing characters are not flawless, they are human beings with many different emotions and many different reactions and ways of dealing with things. They do not always respond to things in the “right” way.

I’m also inclined to say that someone needed to pull Wally’s head out of his ass at some point regardless, btw. Artemis, in being spiteful, also did him a favor. Not with any kind of just intentions, perhaps, but… anyway.

Long story short: I like this moment, it doesn’t both me, it just makes me enjoy Artemis’s character even more, and it certainly doesn’t warrant her being demonized or thrown under a bus. Nobody is perfect, Artemis is not perfect.

Moving on. I know the vast majority of you will disagree with my assessments, but whatever, let’s both just move on because you won’t change my mind and I obviously won’t change yours.

Leave it to Batman to really crash a party, AMIRIGHT?

“Can’t the Watchtower just blast them out of the sky or something?” “What’s a Watchtower?” *DEEP SIGH FROM BATMAN* Goddamnit Wally you can’t just go around saying shit like that you little shit.

Oh my god they’re all a bunch of little dorks, all excited about a Team/League team-up.

Have I mentioned how much I love their polar stealth and wish it had popped up in more than just two episodes? Like, they’re all so adorable!

“Now that’s a birthday wish come true!”

“Uuuuh, Batman? I think youuuu skipped…” “Kid Flash.”

“A girl in Seattle is in desperate need of a heart transplant.”

Oh Wally, Wally, get your priorities straight, dude. :( That’s what I love about this episode though, he grows up in so many ways and it’s really nice to see him have such a major shift in what his real priorities in life are.

“Who is this girl!?” “Does it matter?” (I almost wrote a fanfic once in which it was an AU, where Artemis was the girl that needed the heart transplant and Wally was delivering it to her. I still wouldn’t mind visiting the idea, I never really did get it quite off the ground but it has potential)

“Speedy delivery boy, at your service…”

Ugh, Wally. It’s like… such a burden to him at first. He’s so much more upset about missing out on the League-Team team up that he files this mission away in his mind as a chore, an errand run, something on the side that he’s being forced into and it’s going to make him miss out on all the fun on his birthday. It’s sad to see him think that way, but by the end of it, it’s a very proud moment to see him having realized that delivering that heart was the best thing he’d done that day, the best way he could have spent his birthday, something he can feel proud of. I FUCKING LOVE WALLY AND I LOVE THIS EPISODE, OKAY?

(Also just pointing out that Wally’s reacting way more negatively to delivering this heart than he remotely acted to finding out M’gann was taken. JUST SAYING. And that if Artemis is at fault for telling Wally about M’gann on his B-day, Wally is at fault for reacting so horribly about delivering a heart to someone that’s dying. They’re both only human though, and I love seeing them both like this. I’m just using this to reinforce my points)

MMM that snow! So beautiful! I remembered before this episode aired I had been desperately hoping there would be a YJ episode with either heavy snow or rain in at least a decent chunk of episode. For no other reason than I love snow and rain weather effects and how they can be used to really set up a scene. (not to mention one of my favorite episodes of Teen Titans, “Haunted”, took place almost entirely in a heavy rainfall setting, and I digged it)

So Wally runs from literally one end of the country to the other in what, under four hours?

Don’t expect half of this rewatch post to literally just be me posting screenshots for their beauty.

He’s so fucking nonchalant about the fact that he LITERALLY has someone’s life strapped to his back. Oh, Wally, my son. *sigh*

And the infamous scene where Kaldur steps on his king’s shoulders to get up in the air for an attack, lmao

Chicken Whizee’s sound like the most disgusting thing ever. Like, literally all I can think of is something gross milkshake with bits of chicken in it or something. *shudders*

Also, Wally, you cannot fucking pay for food with A HUMAN HEART, GOOD LORD.

Go away, Vandal! (man Vandal is legit a scary ass villain in this cartoon, like damn. It scares me when he grabs Wally and shit, like, he could probably break him like a twig and it disturbs me)

Can we just appreciate the actual shock waves from Wally slamming into Vandal at maximum speed?

Wally’s such a fierce fucking fighter when he gets the chance. That’s why I love this episode so damn much (among other reasons). We REALLY get the chance to see Wally at his rawest when it comes to fighting and his speed, like he just lets loose with no holds barred when it comes to Vandal. Speedsters are goddamn dangerous and I LOVE it. (I also love Wally using himself as a human cannonball).

“Go, get out of here! I’ll handle Vandal!” “You’ll “handle” me?” “Little hero, do you really think you have what it takes to survive Vandal Savage?” 

Put my baby down you piece of shit!

Wally literally stared death in the face and said, “NOT TODAY!”

Look at him fucking fight! Goddamn it’s so amazing! (also where did your Flash symbol go in that last one, Wally??) 

And like, I don’t have a fucking screenshot or gif of it but Vandal punches him and he goes flying backwards and catches himself in a one armed handstand and lands on his feet. HOW FUCKING COOL IS THAT?

“When I heard authorities were (?) off this highway for a speedster, I assumed I’d be confronting Flash himself-- He and I are due for a reckoning.” 

God, I’ll never stop being curious about what must have happened between Vandal and Flash to make Vandy say that... color me forever intrigued. 

Wolf looks fucking demonic when he bites those wires on that auto-turret, omg.

“Kind of bashing my head into a brick wall here, need a new approach.” I REALLY wish I could make a million gifs of this fight, tbh. I don’t have any screens for some of this shit, nor other gifs saved and it’s a damn shame.

“Dude, you are so running on fumes right now. Battle didn’t help with that, either. But forget the hunger, forget the freezing temp, forget the wind chill! Just go, go!” Atta boy, Wally! Getting those priorities straight!

I honestly always love hearing Zee cast spells, it sounds so cool.

Wally reeeeally needs to work on his brakes.

Oh man, though... could you imagine if Wally really had legit been twelve minutes off because of that fight, and Queen Perdita had actually died? He would NEVER forgive himself for that. That would eat him the fuck up for like... the rest of his life. Holy shit.

You can tell he’s so fucking drained throughout this last scene.

Look at him, crawling on the ground to try and get away. He’s NOT going to let that little girl die!

I like how this time Wally is able to power through and punch Vertigo in the face, whereas back in Revelations he couldn’t quite make it and Vertigo just knocks him away.

Awwwww, Perdita, you had Wally forever at “Souvenir.” <3 I just love headcanoning that they maintain a friendship for like, ever after this. So fucking sweet!

“The sword was cool, but, this just seemed like the right souvenir for the mission.” Hey, this totally echoes what Wally says to Artemis at the end of the Insecurity mission. “Keep the sai. This is the right souvenir for the mission.” Ouch. But more on that when I get to Insecurity)
