he didn’t think that she could get any sexier than she was before. but alas.
here she was: her figure, her sweet sweet figure, had a small protrusion on her stomach that indicated a sign of life within her. she was the most attractive woman to have ever existed, and, when they learned that they were expecting, there was a growing sense of protection and primal desire within toto that he couldn’t even explain.
he couldn’t help it; his cock wouldn’t stop from making itself hard after looking at her body. she was growing a life, for fucks sake— and she was doing so in the most amazing way possible. it was making toto hornier than usual.
but she wasn’t aware of it. in fact, she often voiced out how her skin continued to stretch and showed marks as the baby progressively grew.
her insecurities, ones that continued to grow as much as her baby did, were something she hid away from toto. she didn’t want to make them a big deal considering that he was already stressed enough during this season.
she often spoke to lewis’ physiologist, angela, about this kind of matter and hadn’t approached anyone else as she continued to spend her time at the paddock. if anyone else knew— they’d immediately tell toto. that would mean that she was burdening her husband with this matter.
toto hadn’t meant to walk in the conversation, but he couldn’t find himself to refrain from listening when she and angela spoke while in the garage.
“the baby’s growing real fast,” angela told the woman with fascination, “i reckon he’d have long legs like his daddy.”
and instead of offering a happy laugh, the woman let out a small pitiful chuckle as angela then asked, “oh no. don’t tell me—?”
toto’s wife sighed, “i dunno. i’m supposed to be happy— and i am! ‘s just—“ she placed her hand over the stomach and rubbed the bulge soothingly. she continued, “i don’t feel like this is me. my body— dunno. it’s silly, don’t you think?”
“it’s not,” angela reassured the woman. “it’s normal to feel that way. you have to understand that your body is growing a baby and that they require a little more space than food usually does.”
“i shouldn’t feel bad,” the woman said with a solemn smile, “i’m very excited, really. this is my first kid— this is toto’s first kid. but at the same time i feel like i’d lose his attention the moment this kid pops out and i don’t have the body i used to—“
“hey, hey!” angela gave the woman a warning look, “enough with that. you look absolutely divine— toto would be stupid if he doesn’t appreciate your body and what it’s doing for his son.”
toto stood behind the door and continued listening. he wasn’t sure if he was upset at his wife for not coming to him sooner to talk about her feelings. but he was certain that he was upset at her for thinking that she wasn’t worth being appreciated because of her body.
he had to do something. he could still do something as a loving and appreciative partner while she did all the hard work.
Tumblr media
and that’s what he did. he couldn’t help himself when she came out of the bathroom with nothing but a slip dress on that night. the way her silk nightwear accentuated her curves made toto’s cock twitch in his trousers.
he couldn’t help but sink down to devour every part of her. at first, she wondered what prompted him to act like this— to act so… primal and overly worshipful. but as soon as his mouth attached itself to her tender skin and fragile figure she was long gone, a gasp escaping her lips while she begged for him.
and who was he to deny his pretty, fragile wife? he would be damned if he hadn’t done anything to make her feel loved— he’d give her the world, should she demand it.
she whimpered quietly as toto thrusted into her cunt gently, her eyes close to tearing up because of how toto treated her like she’s bound to break at some point.
his hands travelled down her body as he groaned softly, rhythms of his hips slapping against hers were adagio as toto’s thumbs played with her stiff nipples. he hummed, “so eine hübsche frau.” such a pretty wife.
“you should see yourself, schatz,” he growled, his cock bottoming out in her as she let out a loud moan. “you’re growing my baby— our baby. haven’t seen something so beautiful before. fuuuck~ you are so sexy, it makes me want to fuck more babies into you.”
she sobbed desperately, “ngh~ i- toto.” her heels dug into his hips harder as she lifted her hips up to meet his halfway through. “want you.”
“‘m here, liebling,” he murmured, pressing a soft kiss on her forehead as his pace turned up to presto as they both let out endless sounds of pleasure. the tip of his cock reaching her cervix as he began pounding into her relentlessly.
“please fuck me harder,” she begged. “wan’ you to fuck me.”
“i will,” he shushed her, “but i can’t help it. this body of yours- fuck- makes me want to take it slower. you’re so beautiful like this- all pregnant with my baby.” he nipped on her tits as he hummed in satisfaction.
“makes me want to give you more after this one comes out,” he said darkly, kissing her hard as he began to fuck her harder. “gonna give you more and make sure these tits are full of milk.”
“mm, fuck- toto~” she cried out, feeling too overwhelmed by the pleasure and excitement she had gotten out of his words and his actions.
her cunt clenched around his cock as he chuckled sweetly and said, “oh? you want more kids then? you want to be my pregnant little wife full of my babies?”
she only nodded frantically. toto continued to fuck her until a loud strangled noise escaped her lips.
“o- oh, fuck. ‘m cumming,” she announced, holding him closer as his thrusts became harder and faster as they both reached their highs.
“god— fucking hell, schatz,” he muttered hastily, groaning deeply in her ear as he said, “i’m gonna cum. where do you want me?”
“i- inside, toto- fuck!” she cried out, her body shaking as her walls throbbed around him. “cum inside me, please!”
toto’s hips stuttered for a brief moment as he let out a groan, shooting his cum inside her cunt as he thrusted slowly before stilling.
with a breathless sigh, he slowly pulled out of her and watched his cum escape her hole and drip down the mattress beneath her. he looked at her fucked out face lovingly as he gave her another kiss.
god she really was fucking divine. he wouldn’t be surprised if she was pregnant again shortly after giving birth to their firstborn.

Mr. 6 made you do a good show to be released?? 👀 um....
This is already giving serious eye vibes.
A whole show dedicated to public humiliation?
Tumblr media
The Mr. Bonzo suit started moving??? 👀 Serious stranger vibes. 🤡
Tumblr media
"It actually became a sort of ritual"
Tumblr media
I've seen people being like "don't cross tag" but buddy... the writing cross tags itself here I mean c'mon! 😂 Something something ritual of the stranger- okay, I'll keep listening!
Tumblr media
Hey, what's with the music?? Hey, who is Terrance Menki???👀
"The police said there were eleven bodies in total and his wardrobe was full of all sorts of homemade costumes." BRO IS ACTUALLY MAGNUSPOD WILLIAM AFTON-
Tumblr media
"It certainly had a profound effect on the Mr. Bonzo brand." Oh I'm sure it did, holy fucking shit. 👀
Tumblr media
Oh, me using this image is rather ironic now.
Tumblr media
"In a lot of ways I’m more his prisoner now than I ever was on my show." WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT? 👀
"The witness statements from three murders over the last five years that claim a person in a Mr. Bonzo costume was at the scene? Do you think there could be a copycat?" Has the fear of clowns manifested as an actual clown-guything?
Tumblr media
"Don’t contact us again." "Us?" "Why am I still trapped dealing with all this this- Why won’t he let me go?! Why-" So Mr. Bonzo is absolutely a clown cryptid of sorts with some sort of hold over Nigel.
Tumblr media
Oh no, Gwen's about to fuck around & find out, isn't she? 👀
Hey, is Colin still himself & is he supposed to be back?
Hmm, okay, I guess that's him (hopefully).
"Maybe don’t tell them I’ve been on their terminals. They’ll only get the wrong idea." "If Lena asks, I wasn’t here." Seems like everyone's got their own little secret investigations going on, fun! This can only go well! 🙃
One of the episodes absolutely no one shows up to work except Lena is there & is like "where the fuck did everyone go?"
Tumblr media
"Time to get some new hires again I guess."
Let's go!! Ruin exploration gang!!
Tumblr media
"Like, it’s Saturday night and I’m choosing to hang out in a hole with you. A wet hole. And not the good kind either."
Alice with the absolute best quotes. lmao
That sounds like something with giant wings like a bat or some sort of cloth flapping in the wind. Let's hope it's the latter!
Oh a rusty old filing cabinet! Wait tetanus- 😭
"That carved floor in the big atrium – I don’t know what’s going on with that." Ah so we're just gonna breeze past that then. 😶
These are probably the remnants of old avatar creation test areas like mentioned in the Gerry & Gertrude episode. I'm just assuming here.
A key? Big find! Let's go!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AS I WAS SAYING-
Gwen, it was nice knowing you. 🫡
"Now get out of his house."
Tumblr media
Archivist! 👁👄👁
"symbols of ancient otherworldly power"
Tumblr media
Wait could this be a timeline where this universe's Jane Prentiss actually did manage to invade the building & succeed? I'm thinking out loud.
21:10 that sounds like critters, insects specifically 👀
"I have memories of weird stuff I saw here, but no context. I want to know what was happening, why they chose us… why they didn’t choose me. Maybe find the bit where everything started to go wrong." I am so captivated & intrigued please recount said memories to us- I mean Alice so we can learn more. Please. 👀
EXCUSE ME, WHO THE FUCK WAS THAT?!? WHO IS "[ERROR]?"
WHY DO THEY SOUND DISTORTED AS FUCK?? ARE THEY FROM THE PRIME TIMELINE OR IS THIS A NEW THING?
ARE WE GAZING OUR EYES UPON A WRETCHED THING FROM THE MAGNUS ARCHIVES?!
edit:
Tumblr media
Is Lucia Wright an avatar of The Flesh now (in this universe or from the original timeline somehow)? Because it sure fucking sounds like it! 👀 Well, at least that key was put to good use! 😂
Also, supposedly Mr. Bonzo is a reference to Mr. Blobby.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gwen, I'd be quaking in my boots too. That thing is terrifying!
Late observation but this universe & story seems to focus a lot on the cryptids & I like the direction it's going in! Loving this plot of cryptid hunters, childhood avatar experiments, a strange institute where our main character has past trauma, & just all of it is so good! 💜
Amazing episode, 10/10, I was at the edge of my seat the entire time! 💜 That Bonzo scene & the sound design were absolutely horrifying, thank you! The ending too! 🔥

it's good to see you around again, I missed reading your long ILY posts, hope you're doing better too :) if you ever share your thoughts on the latest couple of episodes (including fp) here, I'd be super excited to read them! I'm really curious how you think the timeline is gonna go from here - especially relating to Shin-Ae and Nolan since it feels like they are the last pieces that need to fall into place so everything is ready for the post-timeskip story to go down. like you, I was so sure Nol and Shin-Ae were going to have some kind of reconciliation before he goes to jail but WELP rip 3 day extension. Poor guy though, Yui showing up in his hospital room must have been extremely triggering, it made sense that he did everything to get outta there ASAP. It's worrying me that this series of negative interactions (Kousuke, Alyssa, Yui) could've undone everything positive Shin-Ae Dieter Soushi Nana did, and now therapy during jail time could either have a positive or negative effect, so Nol is a Schroedinger's cat for now.... At least some things got cleared up and Shin-Ae is now starting to understand the root of the problem (= Yui) (and it actually really makes sense that she had to figure it out herself instead of Nol telling her - the boy obviously isn't ready to talk) so we made some progress.... But istg with this upcoming separation arc 2.0 it feels so much like we're gonna be back at ground zero after the first time skip. Fingers crossed they reconcile in whatever way before the big time skip though. we need a somewhat positive conclusion to this arc before season 1 ends, because if not then what was all this build up for, and why now? What about the realizations? the "convince me"? What about "if you won't let me have you"? If their reconciliation is only going to happen after multiple years of "conflict" between them that would be so cruel....
AND SHIN-AE STILL HASN'T GOTTEN HER BANDANA BACK and now he's stealing her lines too SDGDADSF;SDF
Waaaahhhhh thank you, friend!!! As you can probably tell, I'm still trying to get myself back here fully and figure out how to balance everything, which has always been a struggle ;~; I really may resort to telling my friends to ignore me and yell at me until I get certain posts written up so I'll stop procrastinating because there are SO MANY THINGS I WANT TO WRITE ABOUT EPISODES I WANT TO RECAP AND TALK ABOUT!!!! BUT THE ORGANIZING MYSELF!!!! IS THE PART THAT'S SO DIFFICULT!!!!!!!!
One of the great things about the ILY discord server is that we have this very constant, active conversation going on at all times so it's SO easy to be very present and active, but I also find that it means it's more difficult for me to regulate myself, or I'll have that feeling that I JUST talked about something and so when I try to write about it over here, it feels like a hollow echo and I know that's just because I was just having the conversation so that's just something I need to work on dealing with lol
But I want to answer this before we move so far away from when you asked this!!!!! As expected, there are FP spoilers ahead for eps 246 through 249!!!!!
I!!!! DO NOT KNOW!!!!!!! LMAO Like. GOD. I feel like quimchee has thrown us curveball after curveball and when we sit down and think about how long this period of December 21 and the post December 21 arc has been, how much the story has weaved around?! There are so many things that have occurred that I NEVER expected and, like you, it's just everything I thought has clearly gone out the window. Part of it, I think, is the result of quimchee having to change the arrangement of her story, and god I would love to pick her brain about the things that changed, since Nol's injury was supposed to happen at the formal itself, we never would have had this extended period of hospital time, and it seems like everything about Nol and Shinae coming to realization with their feelings would have played out in a wholly different way than what we ended up getting, so on some level I think this is partly that quimchee, too, is sort of throwing herself cureveballs in that there are things she knows needs to happen and she isn't sure where or how to fit the other elements in? But that's just my guess.
On the one hand, I do feel very "WHAT WAS THE EXTENSION FOR IF NOT FOR RECONCILIATION?!" but beyond Stalkyoo, we have gotten a LOT of good stuff out of this period of time. We see Kousuke facing his cognitive dissonance for, perhaps, the first time, and the revelation that Yui has been drugging him (and likely for a long time, given the way Hansuke describe the dosage Kousuke had and that it merely knocked him out), and more than that, making those connections between Nol and Yui and tea, and wanting to face him. I'm STILL proud of him for wanting to go back and see Nol again, even after he couldn't face him, even after Hansuke found him on the floor of a public bathroom hugging a toilet from the remorse and guilt and perhaps shame of the realization of the ways he has hurt people - has hurt Nol! - who didn't deserve it. We have seen that Rand and Yujing are, in fact, working on something behind the scenes, that Rand is facing Yui as a real adversary now, not just someone who has been resigned to endure her for so many years now, but to actually fight against her. The entirety of Nol's birthday celebration could not have happened the way it did had he not been in the hospital, since he would have had to turn himself in, and while maybe the original plan was that they celebrated his birthday with Minhyuk's coming home party, I'm.... not sure if that would have been the case?
But at at any rate, I do acknowledge that despite the fact that it feels like Nol might be back at square one, that he and Shinae are back where they started in 151, such significant events HAVE taken place that I think will still affect the narrative future of ILY. I still feel strongly that part of Nol's trajectory is coming to terms with the fact that he does, indeed, belong here. That he isn't someone who wasn't meant to be, that he doesn't belong here. He belongs, and he deserves love. He is someone, not nothing. I still think one of his greater arcs will involve coming to embrace this, and while the negative events - Kousuke, Alyssa, Yui - feel like they could be setting him back, he is now equipped with knowledge and feelings he wasn't before. It can't hurt him the same. In fact, I think part of why his confrontation with Alyssa went the way it did was because he had had this experience with Shinae, Dieter, and Soushi, it illuminated everything that was so wrong with his relationship with Alyssa, how neither of them really know each other. It's that sense of foiling that allows him to put his foot down and say enough is enough. Even before it was revealed that Alyssa had come with Yui, it was clear that Nol was over the visit. Don't get me wrong - I understand why he couldn't see that Alyssa clearly was not well, that she was uncomfortable, that she had come to him with no one else to go to, much as he'd gone to Kousuke in the past when he lost his mom, and I also understand why he did the same thing Kousuke did and turned her away. But the point I'm getting at is, it feels like there was a shift. That birthday celebration illuminated something for Nol.
So it's kind of like, while it feels like this might have undone the progress Nol made, it can't undone the revelations he's had, and in that same way, it cannot cast shadow on his enlightenment. He is not the same Nol he was a week ago. Too much has changed, he's become aware of too much, and as such, he is going to respond differently to what comes his way, and while he may continue to try what he had originally intended, I think the difference is that he's now been made aware of things that impact the choices he makes.
But largely I don't really know what I expect just yet. I think it's very pointed that the lawyer reminded Shinae that she has his phone number; I don't think that would be called out if it wasn't going to be important in some way, but in terms of how are we going from here to there? Unsure lol. I think there HAS to be a resolution of some kind, whether it's a reconciliation or not, because Shinae is on this momentum swing that isn't going to stop until she crashes into something or she comes into a force of nature that stops her. Nothing, no one, has been able to reach her or get through to her, and I know it's just because of how much she's hurting, but she's lashing out at people and hurting THEM like a street cat swiping at people trying to help her. She's so terrified of losing Nol, especially now that he came back, especially now that she gave him the option to leave and he didn't and it rekindled that hope she gave him an opening to leave when it would have been easier and he didn't which just made it worse, because so much more was at stake. She can't stop fighting she can't stop trying because she cannot bear what it means to lose him for real this time, not when she finally had him back, not when that realization has come to her even if she won't admit it. She needs him, so what's going to make her give up?
Something has to transpire, whether it's a reconciliation or Nol pushing her away and really shattering her heart or something awful like that, to bring her to a halt, because I can't imagine how we would move into our mini time skip to spring/graduation with Shinae like this, right? So I think there must be some kind of resolution. My foolish, hopeless self wants so badly to hope for reconciliation but esp after 249 I am SO torn. I have two thoughts.
a. they reconcile. She can reach him, and convince him, and even though he is so afraid, he is also someone who folds in front of her, he struggles to resist her. He told her to convince him and boy she can convince him and even though he tells himself he isn't sure if these feelings are real because what if it's just because she's NICE to him I think hearing her confess her feelings would tell him how he feels and give him the answer.
b. But the alternative feels like a parallel to Nessa and Rand, because Nessa, too, was hurt over and over by someone who kept getting her hopes up and getting hurt by him. Shinae gave Nol the opportunity to leave and he didn't, he stayed and doing so sparked her hope, made her feel things, they shared these tender, intimate moments together and forced that realization to come to mind, but for him to push her away again, for her safety, to make choices on her behalf even though she's told him she hates that and she doesn't want him to. Imagine her pulling a Nessa and calling him scum lfkjajkfkjfjkfaj ;A;!!!!! Imagine her so angry and hurt and resentful and saying awful things she doesn't mean and GOD I feel like it can go only one of these ways because what ELSE is going to stop her in her tracks?!
And I really want a reconciliation because parting like this sets them up for SO. MUCH. STRIFE. Because we know one way or another Shinae is going to end up taking Yui's offer and if Nol leaves on these terms, he would end up thinking she's following in Alyssa's footsteps doing so, not understanding WHY she's doing, not understanding that this is Shinae's only way of protecting herself, learning to speak Yui's language and play her game.
and idk I know I'm a hopeful optimist reading a webtoon that proves to me over and over that I cannot be a hopeful optimist but LMAO GOD I WANT SHINAE TO CONVINCE THAT DUMBO
I've said it before that convincing him doesn't mean they have to get into a relationship. Just. Reconcile. She's so afraid of LOSING HIM, thinking that once he slips away he's out of her grasp, her sight, for good, that she will lose the best thing that happened to her and I WANT THAT RECONCILATION. I want her to convince him, for both their sakes. So that he knows he has someone he can go back to. So that she knows he's not just throwing her away. So that she doesn't have to fear losing something so precious and important.
Am I foolish and hopeful for hoping for that outcome? Maybe, but it won't stop me LMAO because as delicious and angsty as Shinae and Nol following in Ressa's footsteps with Nol hurting her again and leaving her so hurt and angry is, I want to see them on that same page. I want to see Shinae convince him - convince him why he is so important to her, and that his feelings are real. That's the thing, right, like.... you can tell yourself that your feelings aren't real, but if the person you like confesses to you, your heart will inevitably betray you and respond to the confession. Nol fears for Shinae's safety but important puzzle pieces are falling into place. She has figured what he fears the most - and if she thinks hard enough she'll realize how she can use that to her "advantage", in that Rand has told her Yui will never let her go, that it doesn't matter if Nol leaves or not. It goes back to my oft repeated sentiment of them needing to be on the same page, to be a team, because his absence will not protect her. And between what Rand told her, plus her anecdotes about Kousuke's birthday and how Yui treated her even before the formal, and what Yujing told Nol about Kousuke being drugged by Yui, maybe, just MAYBE that conclusion that wasn't only him all along will finally hit him. I know he can't change over night, that he has so many deeply ingrained fears that won't be easily assuaged, but I have to hope that a confession from Shinae can convince him that the alternative is worse. Convince him to fight along side her ;A;
I go back and forth on this thought but I think this is strongly what I feel right now. That reconciliation could still be around the corner, even if it's just an admission and a promise to not push her away. Shinae is tired of people acting on her behalf, tired of not getting a say, and especially in something that involves her heart, her feelings?
Go fight girl and maybe bite him if that's what it takes ;A;
STEALING HER BANDANA. HER LINES. HERT HEART. THIS MAN DESERVES TO BE LOCKED AWAY

Okay so I picked up another demo, now that I'm done with Unicorn Overlord demo. I am a wee bit late to the party on this, but decided to try Triangle Strategy. And this is. A very different experience.
I played for about an hour and a half. Approximately 10 minutes of that was the one (1) map. The entire rest of the game was scenes, and a bit of exploration. In comparison to Unicorn Overlord, which is incredibly fast-paced, this game is veeeeery slow.
The story itself isn't bad by any means. But it's also not that interesting? Like it's fine, but I'm not wowed by much. the protagonist is fairly bland, his friends are fairly bland, Frederica is cute but not particularly interesting, your dad having Old Man Disease at 40 is tragic I guess. The background cause of the war and the fact that all parties seem pretty on the level right now is the most interesting angle. But it hasn't exactly gripped me.
Which is really weird! I'm like an hour and a half in, with barely any gameplay, and despite all this story and character stuff, I have very little to say about them. I don't feel like they're any more developed than the Unicorn Overlord crew, which wasn't exactly a hugely developed group either. It's just an odd, slowly paced experience that doesn't have a whole lot to show for that.
As for the minor gameplay I did engage in, it's fine. Fire Emblem-esque grid movement, but you only attack on your turn (barring counter skills), and positioning matters. After each turn, you need to determine which way your character faces, and the direction you attack from matters, in as much as striking from the back is a sure-crit. There's elevation tactics as well, but that didn't seem to save the cav dude who got fucking annihilated when opponents got behind him and wombo comboed his ass to high hell. Was probably supposed to use healing items but it's map 1 and permadeath isn't a thing, your ass is grass dude. I admit that I think it's a little more involved than I think it needs to be, but I did at least recruit a girl whose stealth tactics are interestingly integrated by having two actions to facilitate getting behind the opponent to attack, and what I assume is the armor knight who moves less distance having the counter skill. Oh, and if you surround them, your ally that attacks from the other side will combo for bonus damage.
The...I forget what they're called. The 3 point stock things you can spend for skills. They're...odd. For characters like Frederica and butler-man, you need 2 for your special, and recover 1 every turn, so you can't do that every turn. But then you have the protagonist's delay attack, or Heal. And these are 1 point free actions. So I seem to be allowed to do this infinitely without any kind of issue. And...maybe it's just me, but nonstop infinite heal seems really fucking good, dude. it's also very...reminiscent of Octopath Traveler, in that it very, very feels like endgame is a matter of maximizing these points for a specific character to spam their big attack to deal with huge HP values on bosses.
I did take a peek at the forge system. Fun fact, I generally don't like forge systems. I dunno, man, just trade out the weapon. The system eats a lot of money, and takes consumable resources, which...okay. Depending on the availability of resources, I might hate this one. We'll see.
I still need to get more gameplay to feel like I have a sense of how the gameplay is. And hilariously, am still waiting for the story to actually ramp up. I'm guessing that will happen at exactly the moment the demo ends.

I'm trying to coherently express a bunch of connected fandom observations and the first draft is not working. Trying again.
People are not wrong when they observe that broadly individuals in fandom (especially newer fans) are getting increasingly prone to emotional prioritization (ex: feeling personally attacked when people criticize a character they identify with, or feeling personally betrayed by creators they've parasocialized when reality differs from their view) and also a general lack of boundaries with cast and crew (thanks twitter), and it's leading to bad outcomes - both from a "stifling healthy analytical engagement with the narrative" perspective and a "leading to bad behavior toward creators / other fans" perspective.
I also think that emotionally driven analysis attitudes like "I liked this therefore it was objectively good" are contributing to idolization-cancellation cycles, which is known, but also the resulting polarization (ex: "Since it's objectively good, the only explanation for the people who dislike it is they must wrongly think it's bad and probably harmful") + awareness of the first point might actually be creating the assumption of backlash that isn't there? Like - personal anecdote - despite being in the center of the canon-critical discussions post-OFMD S2 and historically having seen twitter receipts about the fandom's bad behavior, I have yet to see any post, screenshot, or even direct telling of an incident actually @-ing the creators other than circulating posts with effusive praise for the season (which sometimes have an attitude of trying to "drown out" the supposed harassment?). And yet people in both camps re: S2 are seemingly convinced creator harassment is a serious problem that is undoubtedly going on because fans are posting criticism in fandom spaces (some of which does accuse the show of ableism or homophobia due to everything being moralized nowdays - too many people think something needs to be problematic before they can criticize it - but again doesn't actually @ anybody).
And on top of that, both of these views of what is going on when someone posts angry criticism of X - either the concern for the health of their emotional investment in a story that's not being written specifically for them OR the assumption that there's an inherent malice and moral weight in disliking something where critics think the creators must be punished and the show canceled - ignore a pretty big elephant in the room that sometimes people are just venting. Sometimes the salty post about how maybe the main character should have been killed off is literally just sarcasm and bad feelings entirely proportional to watching a tv show and not actually a concerning lack of media literacy. Occasionally the op (myself included) probably is being kind of a dick because they are irritated but tbh it's not any bigger of a deal than that because lots of people are dicks sometimes.
There's a real, complex person behind all those posts, and - especially on tumblr - the fandom engagement / online persona that you see is not actually all of them? A post on their 95% fandom posting blog about eating a showrunner's heart in the marketplace doesn't actually prove that the most serious concerns of their day to day life are showrunner crimes or that they approve of the death penalty for bad writing.
Like in the midst of being concerned about troubling trends we should also maybe remember to watch out for various ways to assume the absolute worst of anyone who disagrees with us, because that in itself is a troubling trend that can easily make fandom worse?

so i’ve been thinking
i know, dangerous
in all honesty, what is our cast of characters supposed to do about Fukuchi..?
i’ve already made my rant analysis (that you can read here if you’re interested) about how Fukuchi is really just an old man with a time traveling stabby stick that makes for a horrible OP villain. up until now, when presented with such a crisis, either soukoku or shin soukoku will partner up and defeat the big bad… or at least they had weaknesses, like Dostoy not anticipating Dazai was going to find him at the end of the cannibalism arc, or how most of his henchmen and underlings were eventually foiled or defeated to come to a satisfying conclusion that set us up for the next story beat. even Ranpo has his weaknesses, and his whole character is centered around knowing everything
well, we know for a fact that that’s not going to happen this time considering our usual duos and their friends are having some technical difficulties at the moment...
so that makes me think…
who is left to fight at this point..?
obviously we have Fukuzawa, who is currently fighting, and Atsushi is... around. but, the character on my mind the most at this point is Mori, since he’s been missing for quite a long time now. this by itself isn’t a big deal considering side characters often go literal years without any story time. however, this becomes a bit more interesting considering what’s happening to the rest of the Mafia and the world right now in bsd
so, i’m going to analyze some pieces that might be added to this 4d chess board of a story line. including more than just Mori. however, i’ll be talking about Mori quite a bit in this post, like almost half of it actually, so if you don’t feel like reading this, that’s fine
🔺minor spoiler warning for chapters 30/31, 50, and 84, and Dead Apple and Stormbringer. also spoilers for basically the entire current arc up to the most recent chapter as of writing this (ch 105) since i talk about most of the main events/situations🔻
I’ll start by taking a moment to talk about the European android everyone knows and loves(?) from Stormbringer…
Adam Frankenstein
Ah yes, the android, the myth, the legend, and the being that made me cringe so hard i got face cramps the first time I read him chewing and swallowing multiple pieces of gum like candy. That Adam.
We never see him or even hear of him in any other part of the story, including the main manga. He’s kind of just in Stormbringer and never brought up again, supposedly living somewhere in Europe doing android detective things. We haven’t even gotten a hint or any foreshadowing that he might show up in the main story, either. The reasons I think he may show up now are kind of simple to be honest.
He’s an android. That’s it. He’s, y’know, not made of flesh… And he doesn’t have blood.
What makes blood important right now? The vampires. Considering we know that Bram can transform a human, alive or otherwise, into one of his minions by ingesting their blood, we can probably assume that this is how it works for the other vampires as well. Therefore, Adam is at a major advantage against such an enemy since 1. his body is made of metal that couldn’t be damaged by Piano Man’s wire guillotine or regular bullets and survived the heat of Chuuya’s first Corruption with minimal damage, and 2. he doesn’t have blood. He does have this blue substance that I assume acts something like oil or fuel for his body, but since he’s most definitely not human, this doesn’t count as blood for him. He can’t be turned into a vampire. I don’t even think Fyodor could hack him or put a virus into his system, like he did to the Moby Dick (which is technically an ability that got turned into a mechanical ship). If anything, the vampires would just break their fangs trying to bite into his neck.
Since he’s in Europe, which is where our two jail kings and their entourage are, it’s more likely that Adam will appear in the jail scene with Dazai and Dostoy. I’d honestly be happy to see this because it would be interesting to see how he and Chuuya would interact now after so many years apart if Chuuya is ever cured of his, y’know, vampirism. Since he most definitely isn’t going to just die. It would also introduce a new character for people who haven’t read Stormbringer, which could reignite interest in this god forsaken arc for those of us who have given up on getting more than a few cliffhangers and a reminder that Fukuchi sucks every new chapter (trust me, I feel you).
Moving on to another semi-short analysis for a character we haven’t seen outside of light novels. And the mildly disappointing adaption of one said novel.
Shirase Buichirou
Another character who is also in Europe, specifically London, is Shirase. At the end of Stormbringer, he and Chuuya parted ways on somewhat good terms when Shirase heard of a group called the Stray Sheep in Europe, which he joined. Nothing has been heard of him since, similar to Adam. The only reasons I bring him up here is that 1. he’s in Europe, same as Adam and the jail kings, and 2. he is also connected to Chuuya (and is familiar with Dazai, to some degree, but this isn’t important).
I’m hesitant to say he’ll appear in the story considering we truly have no idea what the state of the BSD world is right now. Japan is overrun with vampires, and there’s probably nobody left there who hasn’t been bitten unless they’re a major character in the story (that hasn’t already been bitten). We know that the vampires have been moving out by disguising themselves with sunglasses and stuff to hide their eyes and complexion and getting on planes. Where those planes went to, we only know it’s somewhere overseas. There’s also mentions of fictional countries that only exist within the BSD world, similar to Kenji’s home town being a fictional one from a novel written by the irl Kenji. Fukuchi mentions he “needs to control half the nations’ armies” in order to carry out whatever plan he has, and it’s probably safe to say this has already come to fruition since he threatened to set the vampire army in motion if One Order wasn’t unlocked.
The likelihood of a character like Shirase appearing without being a vampire is much, much lower than Adam, and for more reasons than just because he’s a regular human. Shirase has no ability and is not named after an author or any other real-life person (that I know of), therefore it’s very unlikely he’ll be revealed to have one unless he wields an ability weapon like Fukuchi’s sword. Which is also highly unlikely. Given these conditions, he’s probably already been turned into a vampire along with the rest of the organization he joined. Another possibility for his inclusion is just to be killed off (by, perhaps, a vampire Chuuya). Or he might make a joint appearance with Adam, but I still doubt he’ll be a major character unless he’s there to die to further the plot.
Not to mention Asagiri has mentioned many times that Chuuya’s story is a long one that’s full of hardships, so perhaps one of those hardships may just be having to kill an old friend.
Sorry Shirase fans, but that’s just my thoughts on the matter.
From here on, I’ll be discussing Mori and how he’s appeared and disappeared throughout major story arcs and how he’s interacted with the ADA since the cannibalism arc. I know he’s apparently a controversial character to talk about because of his ability and the comments he makes about underage girls and whatever, so if you don’t feel like reading this part, that’s fine.
In case you’re interested in another character appearance, I have added a few honorary mentions at the bottom of this post.
Mori Ougai
Port Mafia Boss. Underground doctor. Ex-military doctor. A third of the Tripartite Framework. And one half of the first version of soukoku before it was known as soukoku.
His titles honestly don’t mean much to me as the only thing he continuously claims to motivate him is his position as the Boss, which is reasonable as his entire livelihood is dependent on the organization and its success. He fills his role well as a clear villain character with extremely black if not straight up non-existent morals, which we get plenty of examples of during the Dark Era, the Guild arc, and even the Cannibalism arc. The currently arc also proves that he’s both willing to provide some aid to the ADA, as well as make manipulative requests of them despite the horrible position they’re in currently for his own potential benefit. He is truly, wholeheartedly, an evil character.
What I want to focus on the most is his hand in moving the pieces on the chess board, so to speak. We know that Dazai and Dostoy are both sitting on the board, presumably in control of every piece, but is that really true? Remember, Dazai is only the way he is because Mori manipulated and taught him to be that way, which we can see from the parallels in how they act when making threats or doing something morally wrong. The comparison between Dazai’s attitude and Mori’s in chapter 30 is telling enough, seeing that Mori’s expression when he murdered the previous Boss 8 years ago (as well as when he talks with Hirotsu in this chapter) is almost identical to the one Dazai makes as he says his thinly veiled threat to do the same to Mori. The anime makes these expressions even more similar than they are in the manga, but I take everything studio bones does with a heavy grain of salt at this point… And not just with BSD
The last time we saw Mori was when he was mentioned in chapter 91 as the liaison who informed Tanizaki and Kenji that it was time to come out of hiding. He appeared normal and not infected by the vampire virus, which isn’t much of a surprise to me. Stormbringer showed that he’s more than capable of avoiding death, and by proxy, avoiding the master assassin Verlaine. It wouldn’t be much of a stretch to assume he was able to avoid the hive mind army of vampires that are just regular soldiers, and most of the ability users that have been infected are mafioso who Mori is very familiar with. However, whether or not he’ll intervene in the prison arc is not what I plan to discuss here.
The previous two characters would only make sense to appear in the prison because of their relationship to Chuuya and their location. Mori is Chuuya’s Boss, sure, and sure he probably wants to keep Dazai alive and on his radar, but Mori is still in Japan and knows that Meursault isn’t a place to be taken lightly.
No, I think Mori is about to become a player in the battle against Fukuchi.
My evidence isn’t necessarily anything concrete or even any foreshadowing, such as with chapter 84 when it was pretty obvious that Akutagawa was going to show up to aid Atsushi when he was saying he was all alone, or back in chapter 31 where it was obvious that soukoku was going to reunite for a big fight.
Fukuzawa, so far, has been the only person capable of standing up against Fukuchi alone and not being beaten within seconds (except Tachihara, but, well… yknow). So this alone is interesting to me because Fukuzawa is one of the strongest fighters in the ADA, and arguably one of the strongest fighters in the entire story considering his ability has nothing to do with his raw swordsmanship and martial arts skills. Keeping that small fact in mind, I want to jog your memory of the battle that happened in chapter 50 between Fukuzawa and Mori. Both of them are afflicted with the cannibalism virus, which is probably causing them to feel horrible with symptoms, but they still face off in a 1v1 that looks a little unfair. Mori has his ability, Elise, that does whatever he tells it to do and is basically a highly skilled and deadly combat ability. Fukuzawa, while still an ability user, only has his sword and his physical talents. His ability is a support ability that works on his subordinates, he can’t use it to fight like Mori or Fukuchi. However, he still holds his ground extremely well and even destroys Elise within minutes if not seconds of the fight starting, and Fukuzawa deals the fatal blow to Mori first. Even though Mori also severely wounds Fukuzawa just seconds later, it’s more important that this fight showed us that they are practically equal in combat skill. Not to mention Natsume makes an appearance to tell the two of them to stop fighting since both of their organizations need to survive to uphold the Tripartite Framework, which is something they both agree to disagree on basically.
There’s also the events of Dead Apple where, while under the effects of Shibusawa’s fog, Mori and Fukuzawa are fighting their own abilities and struggling. However, when they meet and switch opponents, they easily take down the other’s ability. They even share a few lines of dialogue that shows they’re familiar with each other’s fighting styles and tricks, similar to their explosive meeting in chapter 30 during the Guild Arc.
Now let’s look at the situation Fukuzawa is in right now. His subordinates are in all danger, and the only one that could potentially be coming to his aid is Atsushi, which is a possibility that I’ll mention at the end of this post. However, doesn’t this setup of our protagonists in a life-or-death situation with no help in sight, seem a little familiar to you?
Dazai was surrounded by soldiers in chapter 31 when Chuuya arrived to (begrudgingly) help him out, on Mori’s orders. Dazai was literally dead in Dead Apple when Chuuya showed up to punch him in the face (deserved) to save him.
Atsushi rarely wins on his own, but with Akutagawa’s help and the singularity created by their combined abilities, they’re able to defeat almost any enemy. And when Atsushi was desperate for help in chapter 84, Akutagawa arrived, even if it was on Dazai’s orders.
Fukuzawa is currently losing the fight against the OP time traveling stabby stick wielding grandpa, putting him in a dire situation of trying to save the ADA while not dying in the process. So, will Mori come out from wherever he’s hiding to provide aid to Fukuzawa? Will zenki soukoku come back and parallel the other soukoku’s reuniting/working together to defeat the big bad? It’s hard to say, honestly, but I do believe it’s entirely possible considering Mori has been strangely missing in the story after agreeing to aid the ADA. Well, the ADA needs aid. Badly. And it’s about time they finally got some.
I think Fukuzawa and Mori have the potential to defeat Fukuchi together considering their both equal in strength, so perhaps putting their finely tuned skills together is what will prove to be our deus ex machina that defeats Fukuchi’s self-induced deus ex machinas that are honestly getting pretty damn tiring at this point.
There’s also the fact that Mori had originally agreed to aid the ADA on the condition that one of their members transfers to the Mafia, so perhaps Mori showing up to aid Fukuzawa will be a manipulation tactic to force them to agree to let him choose who he wants to join, since he only actually wants Yosano out of the deal. However, it’s possible that maybe Tanizaki will be the one to change organizations? He did offer to go in Yosano’s stead in chapter 65 when the deal was originally proposed by Mori, who straight up lied about what Fukuzawa told him over the phone that the one person Mori couldn’t choose was Yosano. Mori is a very, very smart man, so he probably knows that if he forces the ADA into enough of a corner under the guise of helping them, he can get what he wants out of them as well. He could also allow the majority/some of the ADA members to die or come close to force Yosano to heal them and work for him one way or another, since we saw in her backstory in the military that Mori isn’t above shooting someone to make Yosano heal them because now they’re “close to death”. He most likely hasn’t changed much in those ways over the years, so I’m expecting to see some extreme manipulation taking place on his part if he does come back into the story.
Honorable mentions that came to mind as I was working to gather potential suspects:
Atsushi
He’s there, kind of, I guess. So much of the arc recently has been like 2 pages of one perspective before changing to the next that I’m not even sure if he’s still the main protagonist anymore. /j
Since he’s also at the airport where this whole *gestures wildly* thing is happening between the two Fuku’s, it would make sense that he at least shows up during the fight. We also know he’s actively looking for Fukuzawa because he can’t decide on what to do next now that he knows what the DOA is after.
The only way I see Atsushi being implemented in the battle is if he gets super upset or angry over seeing all his friends and coworkers in serious trouble, and either Fukuzawa releases his ability (if that’s even possible) from Atsushi and allows him to use the full power of the White Tiger to fight Fukuchi, which could potentially defeat the time-traveling sword since the Tiger’s claws can cut through abilities. The other option is he goes feral? I don’t really know to be honest. Maybe he just gets his ass beat again by Fukuchi. Who knows. I’ll just be over here preparing the party poppers for Kunikida’s promotion I guess.
Verlaine
Why? For fun.
He’s never appeared in the main story line since he lives in the Port Mafia’s basement basically. But considering the Mafia kinda went up in flames (or vampires, I guess) it’s possible he’s on the move now. Whether he’d appear in the jail, to save Chuuya, or appear at the airport, potentially under Mori’s orders, I honestly don’t know. But, since he’s part of the Mafia and another character we haven’t seen, and the cover of volume 22 as well as other official artwork has been featuring several Stormbringer and Sheep references, some people believe we might be seeing someone from that cast of characters in an upcoming chapter. But honestly I think they might be on as much copium as I am…
It would be funny to see Verlaine show up and just crush Fukuchi in like 3 seconds while the rest of the protagonists couldn’t defeat him though.
Ango?
We see Ango last in chapter 95 when it’s revealed he’s the one that demanded a seal be put on One Order, at Dazai’s request as part of his plan to counter Dostoy. He hasn’t been a big player in this arc beyond being the coordinator early on for the ADA’s moves, but since they all were reunited and came up with their own plans, he’s been more active as just a background character acting on the messages from Dazai. But, since he is the final piece of the Tripartite Framework, I thought I’d just mention him here as well. Natsume clearly wants the three organizations to work together, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Dazai has also given Ango a message or plan to relay to Mori. I don’t think he’ll ever be a super big part of the current events, though, just more of the background coordinator.
The Guild?
We kind of see them and then we don’t. We know Fitzgerald wants to work with whoever is winning, which as far as we know, he thinks is going to be the ADA. He was giving them aid in exchange for Yosano healing Mitchell, but we don’t really see anything come after this agreement is made? Atsushi and Kyouka get into one ambulance with Mitchell inside to bring her to Yosano, and at the same time, Yosano (along with Tanizaki and Kenji) are attacked by the government who set up their own trap unknown to Fitzgerald and Atsushi. We know Fitzgerald didn’t set them up because in the first few pages after we see the government attacking, we see Fitzgerald explaining why he didn’t go with the 74 plans Alcott prepared that included selling out the Agency’s location. Technically, it only happened because Tachihara is a Hunting Dog, so he betrayed the location of the meeting since Mori sent him and the other Black Lizard captains for security, and Tachihara is using his metal manipulation to pretend as if there’s an ability user attacking them with the government so they have to retreat after Kenji is severely injured. He’s also there to prevent Atsushi from reuniting with Yosano just a few minutes later. Which is truly impressive since he’s technically fighting himself the entire time? Wow is that symbolism of him as a character if I’ve ever seen it, that’s for sure. Not to mention he also stabs himself with Gin’s knife, just *chefs kiss* of a character I really wish he wasn’t killed/vampire-d whatever the fuck happened because he deserved so much better. But anyway, we never see the Guild again after this. So we have no idea what they’re currently doing, nor have we seen the other branch of the “Guild” that Steinbeck created at the end of the Guild arc since the end of that arc. So, I doubt they’ll come back.
The Clock Tower?
They’d have jurisdiction over Meursault, but it’s hard to say if they’ll step in. They haven’t been a part of the story at all beside Agatha’s little cameo from chapter 12. On a side note, I believe Agatha’s ability will be something along the lines of causing death in accordance to the lines in the poem “Ten Little Soldiers” (obviously I’m not putting the original name here) since her ability is named after the mystery novel And Then There Were None that’s about ten people dying on an island of various means that follow the reasons in the rhyme of the poem. It’s quite interesting, actually. But back to my main point, I don’t really see why they would suddenly come into the story now. If anything, they might appear if Fukuchi decides to try and use his vampire army against the governments of the world and create a world-wide coup d’etat with One Order.
Is this a copium-driven fever dream of a hope to have? Haha, fuck yeah it is! But I’ll let the copium win today if it means having at least a little hope that Fukuchi’s arc of shitty OP-ness will come to an end soon. Please. Asagiri I’m begging. I’m on my knees. Just PLEASE
Anyways, that's my thoughts on the matter. This theory was a little out there and not really based on too much evidence, but I still felt the need to write up this post, or else the brainrot might actually get my final braincell and it'd be all downhill from there.
As always, I hope you enjoyed, and thanks for reading. If you have your own idea of what you think will be the thing to defeat Fukuchi, feel free to say it in the comments or send a message to my Inbox on my profile. We can cope theorize together :)
**i just finished editing this oh my god this is so long i’m sorry i just had a lot of brainrot about this and i’m desperately awaiting whatever is going to end Fukuchi to the point i want to do it myself

Might be a slight problem with your Lion, Tiger and Leopard idea. I think in TNP when the traveling cats met Sharptooth they describe it as a lion so evil it couldn't grow a mane. I think however that because it's a Squirrelpaw chapter you could explain that away as Firestar actually knowing what a Lion actually looks like, and thus telling his kits.
Have no fear-- THAT passage is being chalked up to a translation error itself for several reasons, first and foremost because it had been decided in TPB already to translate "Raor" as "Lion" and cut any references to their long ears.
...And second of all because Sharptooth is no longer a cougar! He is a European Cave Lion, because he is a manifested War God now instead of just being some random escaped zoo animal the Tribe couldn't deal with. Tribe's getting a huge buff. Anyway, this means he does actually have a "mane" now, but it's a big baggy fluffy neck... thing.
Tumblr media
[Image Id: European Cave Lion. It's like a big lioness with a huge 'scruff' all around its neck.]
(Btw I made a road trip map and some extra detail for how I'm gonna handle the TNP journey if you wanna see that)
LionClan warriors DO have manes, though, but it's the same kind of mane that shows up in ThunderClan cats occasionally. Mapleshade, Lionheart, and Lionblaze are canonical examples of it, but I've given it to even more ThunderClan cats and just made it so those three were particularly fuzzy.
(there are rabbits with manes, also, but the Clan cats probably don't know about lionhead domestic rabbits.)
So they still could, actually, comment on Sharptooth's lame haircut.
Here's the original passage, and I'll follow it up with what's different about it in my rewrite/with reworked LionClan/Clanmew notes.
(So, unreality warning I suppose?)
“Sharptooth is a huge cat,” Stoneteller began, his voice hushed with fear. “He lives in the mountains, and makes the Tribe his prey. For many seasons now he has been picking us off, one by one.” “He looks like a lion,” Crag added, and asked, “Do you know of lions?” “We have legends of LionClan,” Stormfur replied, still wondering what Sharptooth could possibly have to do with him, “Lions are known for their strength and wisdom, and they have a golden mane like the sun’s warm rays.” “Sharptooth has no mane,” Stoneteller meowed, “Perhaps he lost it because he is so evil. He is the enemy of our Tribe.” His voice was bleak, his eyes shining cold with memories. “We feared that he would not rest until every cat of the Tribe had been killed.”
-Moonrise, Chapter 12
First of all, the Tribe isn't detaining the Sundrown Patrol to force them to fix their problems for them. The Tribe helps them cross, Sharptooth interrupts a feast they threw to celebrate the "return of the lost Sun Trail siblings."
They HAVE killed Sharptooth before. Three times. He re-manifests every few generations. And they'll do it again, god damn it!
The Sundrown Patrol decides to help, after seeing someone who helped them get slaughtered. The Tribe was going to handle it on their own but accepting help is one of their cultural values.
Tribe cats who couldn't speak to Clan cats were cut in the translation. There's actually a LOT of cats here, but many of them only speak Modern Tribemew.
Only the ones who are good at speaking Old Tribemew can talk with the Sundrown Patrol.
This causes an insane amount of errors in later books, because 2/3rds of the Tribe population was cut, eliminating the process by which they decide the new Stoneteller. So the writer made Jayfeather do it for them.
Tawnypelt is the one speaking to Stoneteller, she is the leader here, Stormfur plotline was added in localization for marketing along with the change to make Brambleclaw the leader.
Lions aren't known for 'wisdom,' they're notable for their strength, teamwork, and honor. "Teamwork and Honor" is translated as "Wisdom" but that's not totally correct.
Sharptooth working alone is what's noteworthy here, like a lion that takes all the physical strength with none of the honor. You can call that 'evil' but it is missing some nuance.
They also say that he doesn't have a 'mane' so much as he has 'scruff fluff.'

reviewing spirit animatronics for 2023
i almost forgot again. but here we are
apparently the website doesnt display animatronics that are sold out so im trying to dig for them... this isnt a complete list im doin my best
anyway lets GOooooooo
Gourdo
Tumblr media
im gonna start with my favorite look at this silly little guy. something about this design is just incredibly endearing to me and the stringy guts look pretty good in motion too. hes cute and i like him. his description says he was a guy who kept scaring everybody all the time and one day he scared an old lady who turned out to be a witch so she turned him into a pumpkin. and now hes stuck like this bc he could not behave himself. i love gourdo i want him 10/10
Eternal Rest
Tumblr media
its a tombstone. theres a sad crying face and it turns into a skull face and screams at you. thats... thats it. it looks fine but its just really basic, this is doing nothing for me
3/10
Poor George
Tumblr media
this guy was at my local store for a while. hes pretty fun, he flips around and his face changes. i like his funky stripes. makeup design looks extremely art the clown which is just making me wish they had him instead
its at least an attempt at a unique design. but according to his description, the story here is he was just a nice regular clown who had a terrible accident but somehow survived. you can see his bloody torso when he turns. this isn't a zombie clown monster, this is a man who desperately needs medical assistance
also no explanation for why he has two faces. he doesn't appear to be intentionally meant to be conjoined twins or something so if hes supposed to just be a regular guy im not sure whats going on there
5/10
they also came out with another killer klowns animatronic this year too, hes BIG but i dont have much to say about that one other than it looks good glad to see the klown rep increasing
i guess ill also mention here that they have a mars attacks alien figure now too, which doesn't really do much, it just moves its head a little but the lighting is cool and the design looks really good and seeing it inspired me to go watch the movie, so. shrugs. i like him
Heckles the Clown
Tumblr media
here we have i think the first Sad Clown spirit animatronic? i cant think of any others ive seen. he kind of has creepy uncle energy but isn't really scary. hes just sad. he is a pathetic shell of a man weakly trying to sell his balloons and i just kind of feel bad for him. i did not notice in the store that his balloon actually has a light-up face in it which is cool. apparently according to his description hes actually using poison gas in his balloons which is a neat idea but is extremely unclear from the animatronic itself, i never would've known that if i hadn't read the description, so,
his face sculpt looks pretty good though. hes a pretty well designed figure i just think his whole deal is unclear and just makes me feel bad for him. help this man
6/10
Stilts
Tumblr media
i do love a scary clown but all of these are starting to look pretty much the same to me. the colors are visually striking (i like the use of the blue accents especially) and i like the bloody bowling pins but at this point it's just kinda like, yep, that's another tall spooky clown. great for all your tall spooky clown needs but its not really that memorable. 4/10
Death Stalker
Tumblr media
THIS thing however, looks sick as FUCK and i really want to see it in person. i dont know what the fuck that is. i love it. it breathes smoke and has way too many teeth. the description offhand mentions it lives behind an abandoned doll factory for no apparent reason. i love this thing 11/10
i think it might be built from the same body structure as their krampus figure that i also really liked
The Black Heart
Tumblr media
ok i dont know about anyone else but i just find this one extremely confusing all around
he gives off protective dom skeleton boyfriend vibes. in the store i saw this and figured the woman was his victim and hes showing us his kill to threaten us, but it also looks like he's protecting her, so i didn't really get what was going on. the description says she tried to do some weird ritual ive never heard of where you lay in a grave and your true love will arrive to kiss you and wake you up snow white style at midnight, but instead she ended up with this guy as her "master" but it also refers to him as her "partner"
Tumblr media
"the fuck did you just say about my wife"
so i guess they have some kind of bdsm relationship going on. which, y'know, if she's into that, id say good for her, but she doesn't move at all, she appears to be dead or unconscious. she also looks like she's emerging from his waist or something bc like, i guess they made her skirt the same color to hide that she's there until he reveals her, but i didnt even realize she had a lower body at all,
anyway the design is really confusing to look at and i don't really understand what their whole deal is. the faces look really good though. 5/10
Leatherface
Tumblr media
leatherface in the HOUSE!!! i dont really have a lot to say here other than i think he looks great and i want you all to see him. 7/10
Darling Dolly
Tumblr media
i fucking love this thing look at that. salad fingers doll monstrosity what the fuck is going on here. there was one in our store very briefly but it wasn't working and disappeared pretty quickly which just made it even weirder. this has a fantastic "what the FUCK IS THAT" factor and i just wish it had better functionality bc i was really excited to find out what it does and it turns out it pretty much just screams at you. i feel like a slower, creeping movement with spidery fingers and whispering sounds would have been more effective. its definitely scary though. i want more wild designs like this i love this thing
the backstory is... a little girl dug up a cursed doll in the yard and her mother tried to bury it back but got struck by lightning and became nightmareishly fused together with the evil doll which just. doesn't make sense to me i feel like trying to create an explanation for this figure is actively a detriment to it i like it better just as a Horrible Inexplicable Demon
9/10 could have been executed better but great design
The Cauldroness
Tumblr media
pretty much just your standard witch. i like the way she's posed, this figure is more interesting to look at than a lot of the standing ones. the movement in her hands looks pretty good. i like her face. she also looks like salad fingers. maybe im just seeing it bc im trying so so hard to manifest him into existence even though i know they'll never make one sfjkg
anyway this is simple but i think it works well, 5/10
Dagger Mike
Tumblr media
look at this ridiculous little gremlin. his name's dagger mike. hes got knives. his torso makes no sense. i love you dagger mike 6/10 hes not good but he makes me laugh and i like him
i do like the vintage clown look here though. i just think his body looks stupid and his existence is very funny to me in a way i cant articulate
Floating Spirit

WAIT I WANT YOU TO WRITE A SOULMATE AU
AAHHHHH GOD OKAY I JUST TYPED A WHOLEASS HEADCANON AND TUMBLR DIDN'T SAVE IT AND NOW IT'S NOT GOING TO BE THE SAME BUT IM GONNA TRY TO. RECREATE IT FOR YOU!! i hateeee this website i hate it.
anyway yes. as i was saying: i wanna write a soulmate au tooo!!! so bad!! but i worry that i won't be able to write a compelling one because i am a super fluffy writer and i don't really enjoy soulmate AUs that are super fluffy so I'll just end up writing something that's not interesting or whatever. but!!! sometimes i think if canonverse!!! then maybe!!! maybe!!! it can be fun because DENIAL!! DEPRESSION!! DEATH!! etc etc
i don't have an excerpt to post because i can't write anything right now but i think it would go something like this:
so this is s9. cas is human and he basically develops a soulmark. he actually doesn't even notice it but then when he's at that laundromat, there's also a little kid there and she sees it and points it out to him and then the mom is just like. mortified and she's like OMG WE ARE LEAVING RN and they run away. and then cas just looks down at himself and is like huh. he obviously recognises it. so. HUH.
anyway it's the same mark as dean's and while he's aware of the implications he just ignores all of that and gets on with it. his denial is like. fueled by the mark itself not being fully formed/permanent yet. it keeps fading in and out so he's like whatever not my problem rn. anyway s9 happens.
dean kicks him out of the bunker. and the mark becomes permanent.
he like lowkey hates having it but he justifies its existence to himself in many ways and just kind of does what he has to because he has no choice. anyway. HEAVEN CAN'T WAIT.
dean shows up. and then both their marks start burning up bc ~ p r o x i m i t y ~ or whatever and dean feels it and cas feels it and dean sees cas feeling it. and dean's like what the fuck what the FUCK and cas is like nothing the fuck. get out. and dean's like stop acting like I'm stupid i saw you!! you felt it too!! and cas is like idk what you're talking about. anyway they have a minor argument about this and also the hunt at the same time and it ends more or less like it did in canon.
i was the nora date to be a thing like it is important to me that it is a thing and i want dean to be soooo insane about it. like okay even those soulmates exist, not everyone ends up with their soulmate and not everyone takes it all that seriously. it's kind of like how astrology is in indian matchmaking yk? so it's not a big deal that cas is dating someone even if he has a mark but it's like. THIS IS DEAN. HE'S CRAZY. SO.
anyway. plot plot whatever rit zien is there. they fight. etc etc. same as canon. and then when they talk about it in the fanfic gap!
dean drives cas to his motel room and he's like. okay. okay so are we going to talk about this and cas is like HMM not saying anything and dean's like dude don't make me make you show it to me because you know i will. like. basically dean's being insane and he doesn't want to cross lines and ACT insane on the outisde so he's like cas just pls be HONEST with me and cas is like ugh. okay. fine yes i have it too yes it's the same one and dean's like huh. HUH. okay so what does this mean and cas is like idk I'm an angel and I'm not supposed to be having these things. and dean is like. no like. but you are human now and cas is like I WASN'T BORN ONE YOU MORON. and then he's like. well this is probably a glitch anyway. and dean is soooooooo sad at that and he's like glitch? what do you mean glitch? and cas is like well you see when i raised you from hell i had to feed you some of my grace and ig this is a side effect bc reciprocation happened and dean's like ....what? and cas is like I'm not your soulmate I'm your carbon copy. and dean is like. DEVASTATED. but also Somewhere deep down he is convinced that cas is his soulmate now (bc he's in love w him. that's the reason.) so he's like well how do you know what if it's really a soulmark what then and cas is sooooooo mad at the implication like he can be in love with Dean but how DARE he bring it up out in the open like this like how dare he make cas confront it esp when dean's been super cruel to him lately (honestly dean is a denial boy in my head but his whole deal is just. self-denial. like he knows things he just doesn't give them to himself. meanwhile cas is like. 😌 i pretend i do not see it.)
anyway. so then cas is like oooo I'm going to hurt you so he says sth like oh but if i was then you wouldn't have been able to kick me out so easily it would've hurt you and dean can't say anything to that right then yk..
anyway it's a bad night for everyone. and then when dean drives cas out to the gasnsip in the morning it's pretty much the same as canon. but when they're parting ways their soulmark hurts again. and dean is like WHY WON'T HE JUST ADMIT IT and cas is like i wish someone would peel off my skin so i wouldn't have to have this.
idk how it goes after this point. i think over the years the mark becomes more or less permanent. it's not as dark when he has his grace but even then it's not fully gone. it fades in and out just like his grace but it's still. always there. and cas has to deal with it.
dean never brings it up especially after this huge fight. he kind of sees it as a rejection. he asks him once around S10 after his grace is restored and cas is like Yep. It's Gone. (lying through his teeth) and dean's like WELL. GOOD. GOOD. (also lying through his teeth.)
eventually tho they all have to confront the reality of the situation and they obvs get together idk how it happens tho. i would write if i could!!! but i can't!!! SADLY!!!
doing this thing.

One time I had the weirdest (and most ridiculously detailed!) incest-related dream. It was about a fictional anime, and while it's all kinda blurry now, I remember dreaming up the plot of a couple of episodes. I'd like to preface this ask with a big fat TW because the anime itself was kind of... old school in a sense, with ecchi-like jokes and gags that were handled in a very lighthearted way but objectively would have had to be treated as molestation of a teen girl in any more serious work.
Basically, the anime was about this high school student who was also a magical girl heroine. She had to balance her school life and friends with her secret identity while fighting a mysterious supernatural Big Bad and their lackeys as well as more mundane criminal. So far, so normal, right? But the twist was the her sidekick was her father, who didn't have any powers but drove her around to wherever she needed to be to fight evil and took care of her injuries after her battles.
Except... the dad was young, kind of DILF-y, and both a goofball and a total pervert. He perved on his daughter both in her magical girl/crimefighter persona (cheering whenever he got to see a panty shot during a fight thanks to the skimpy frilly outfit she naturally got during her transformation sequence, roping her into infiltrating some crime syndicate's hideout by masquerading as an exotic dancer) and in her civilian identity (trying to get her to wear a maid outfit while doing her chores around the house, gleefully suggesting he should spank her when the stress of trying to figure out what the Big Bad's goal actually was caused her to have a a bit of an attitude).
The daughter was understandably weirded out and embarrassed by his behavior, but it was played less in a "her dad is a creep and she should try to get away from him asap" and more like she thought he was a cringy loser who frustratingly insisted on behaving like an irresponsible kid. There was plenty of slapstick humor where she punched him in the face or hit him with over the head with whatever was at hand to get him to leave her alone, but also a lot of times where she just made comments like "ugh, Dad, I shouldn't be the mature person in this house" or "stop being a gross old man, we're in public!" She didn't think much of her father's attraction to her, but it seemed to be mostly because she wanted to date boys her age with whom to do cute teenage romance stuff.
Obviously, the dad was extremely jealous of any boy who showed an interest in her, but he showed it less by being openly hostile to them and more by getting extra handsy and possessive around them to weird them out and turn them off the idea of dating her and dealing with more of that, or even by tricking them into appearing even more perverted than him. At least until she met a shy, quiet boy who was supposed to be her endgame love interest, who surprisingly took it all in stride, blushing a lot but being very polite to him and still very affectionate towards the daughter at the end of the day.
Eventually, a flashback from the point of view of the dad was shown and it turned out he was a widower and his wife had died when the daughter was a baby. Grief had thrown him into a downwards spiral, not helped by the fact that, because he and the wife had married very young and against the will of their families, they were struggling economically. But taking care of the daughter had become the one light in his life and he had resolved to fight against his despair, get his act together and give her the life he'd been unable to give her mother. Through the years, his feelings had turned into outright adoration, and while the daughter was growing up from an adorable child into a smart, determined, responsible teenage girl, into romantic love. And eventually, when her body started developing, also into physical attraction. He had initially decided not to act on any of it... but his feelings were just too strong to repress them or ignore them, so he decided it would be easier to deal only with the sexual side of things, because he could deal with his daughter refusing him over and over again when it came to that but he feared he wouldn't be strong enough to stand her telling him she'd never love him the same way.
Unfortunately, I don't remember how the story ended after that. But I like to think the dad would have eventually had to have an open conversation about his feelings with his daughter and that, no matter her response, they would have been okay somehow.
Wow, that's so detailed!
It was so easy for me to picture it as an old anime.

how would you rank the sdr2 kids in terms of how easy it would be for junko to turn them into ultimate despair?
Ooooh this is a fun ask I'm gonna take my time w this one see u when it's ready
This is not "everyone gets hypnotized" btw this is "everyone gets manipulated to shit" and also just mmy speculation
Nagito: already pretty radical in thinking, already showed how he'll play the bad guy to incite the good guys into action. Doesnt have a lot of years left so he could be convinced that this was the only way for him to ever see the world he wants to see in his own lifetime, by speeding up the process of despair-to-hope. Doing it for a "good" reason, totally believes the world will be a better place after all is said and done.
2. Mikan: long history of abuse, was I think supposed to be one of Junkos first, with Junko being the first person to be 'nice' to her? Would be somewhat easy to make her dependent on Junko's gross simile of love. She also wants power over people (to make sure they can't/ wont hurt her) so as soon as you dangle the possibility of her new and slightly less shitty life being taken from her, should she not cooperate, I think she'd fold easily. Also wow she does show some concerning tendencies.
3. Peko: If Fuyuhiko had already been gotten, she'd follow easily, at first maybe to make sure he's safe, but unfortunately I think that a despaired Fuyuhiko wouldn't be above manipulating or ordering Peko around, and she's already half-brainwashed by the Kuzuryuu family. She's proven that she can and will kill. I think if she perceived it as for other people's safety, she'd do it more easily. Follows orders.
4. Impostor: such a good person, but regrettably also super sad. At first I thought maybe they'd be very hard to corrupt, but considering how lonely and ghostly they are, it might actually be kind of easy to both give them access to a lot of disguises (easier to pretend to be someone who's super recently and secretly dead) and also a chance to figure out who they themselves are. Even if that person is a super cruel and evil one, I don't think that's an objection as long as it's a very present and dynamic personality (they did want to impersonate Byuakuya after all) that can be switched off and on at will.
5. Hiyoko: already has some sadistic tendencies and comes from a position of power, but not at all independent, also childlike way of thinking king so easy to mould. Superiority complex a bit. She doesn't like working with people though or taking orders, so she'd need something decidedly in it for her, like all the extra power and safety and ability to bully people.
6. Fuyuhiko: Raised with the idea that killing and violence is necessary and not that big of a deal, has proven that he's capable of murder under the right circumstance. If he's isolated from his family and Peko, it's probably easy to tap into his general anger. What gets in the way is how he doesn't usually want to involve 'civilians' in crime and is kind of a stickler for rules, so I think if he was convinced that the school itself sucked, and then the people behind the school, and then the government, by then he'd be powerful enough to just do whatever he (Junko) wants.
7. Gundham: not a huge fan of people and very isolated, I think maybe he could be got with Poison Ivy style radicalism? Like "look at how badly these people treat animals, its fine to treat them the same way" kind of. He's already got his own evil narrative, maybe wrapping the whole thing up in a fantasy would get him too. Go forth Actual Overlord of Ice, commit actual atrocities, you're such a tragic villain.
8. Akane: Kind of gullible and easily manipulated, also she loves fighting and proving herself so I think she can could be manipulated into like, Proving She's The Best by fighting more and more and being cheered on by people until it escalates into straight up murder. I think her family back home would be the biggest obstacle but those could be taken of.
9. Souda: generally pretty cowardly, maybe joining more out of self preservation than anything else. Maybe some real opportunities to make his mechanical dreams come true, get away from his dad & make some money, be the invincible punk he wants to be. Might also wanna impress people so if he got peer pressured by, say, Sonia, he'd be pretty gone I think.
10. Teru: Money, power and general lack of strong morals, also kind of cowardly? I think if he wasn't the first one, and saw how powerful all the villain-hopefuls are, he'd be likely to join out of self preservation like Souda (and the opportunity to make money for his mom and save his restaurant).
11. Mahiru: She's very responsible and against violence and murder, so I dont know that she'd ever really go that route, but she doesn't really need to be a killer herself. She *does* feel inferior to her mom the war photographer, and Junko is basically starting an apocalypse, and Mahiru states that a photographer should always be taking pictures even of upsetting things. So I think she'd be documenting everything while doing nothing to stop it, basically compliant through apathy and negligence.
12. Sonia: I kept thinking shed be more morally grey than she turned out to be, but no she's just actually a sweetheart. I guess her calling might just be getting away from her super strict royalty lifestyle and into the spooky grim occult stuff she likes? Like if she somehow tapped REAL deep into her fascination with morbid stuff, she might eventually take a very distant role commanding other people and just watching stuff unfold. Maybe expose her own country for some grim stuff so she loses patriotic faith?
(Peko would be here if Fuyuhiko wasn't already got, girl's loyal as hell)
13. Nekomaru: Listen he's an upstanding dude. I dont even know how he'd get got unless he already had an in with a student that was already corrupted, like Akane, so his protective nature could be abused. Maybe he could start out trying to make others see reason and then end up just kinda going along, idk.
14. Ibuki: Arguably the most well-adjusted? She's so independent and already knows who she is and what she wants, so I think it'd be most about giving her opportunities she could never get from anywhere else, and maybe keeping her in the dark about how destructive the concerts are at first? Maybe convince her it's super metal to have people die at your shows? Not sure tbh
I didn't count Chiaki bc I wasn't super sure about her character re: what's seen in the anime and what's seen in the game, and also not Hajime since he was kind of a special case in the first place (might speculate on him later though).

Talking about Dissociative Identity Disorder/Multiple Personalities
(Disclaimer, this may offend some people because I have different ways of seeing DID and I like to be honest about my experiences)
Tumblr media
Why do I sometimes refer to it as Multiple Personalities instead of the correct term?
When it comes to telling people about it who aren't online most people have no idea what DID is, so using that term makes more sense to them and for me I feel more comfortable using multiple personalities because that's what it feels like for me. I know it's a problematic term but there's a lot of stigma online around DID and when I say I have multiple personalities it makes me feel like I can seperate myself from the toxic communities.
Why aren't you more open about DID?
I'm pretty open about it in real life, my family is very accepting and my friends have no issue with it. But, online I don't like to be open about it as much because I will most likely get hate because of it or I will get other people who say they have DID telling me I'm faking it. I like to be open online sometimes so I can try to help others but for the majority I like to stay pretty quiet.
Why don't you like talking to other people who have DID?
I've tried a few different communities online to try and meet people or get help but I find there's a big difference online. There is online DID and then there's real life DID. A lot of people don't actually have a diagnosis and probably don't have the disorder but they truly believe they do. Growing up is very confusing, even more so when you have the internet or if you've experienced trauma. A lot of these people that have all these different 'kinds' of DID generally seem to be people that have had something traumatic happen or they haven't had the attention they need from family and friends and therefore they actually create these people in their heads. That's why when I see a system that has mainly characters from TV shows or movies I know it's different. These people have created these identies for comfort because their life is difficult to deal with. I am not villainising these people in anyway, because I know they aren't trying to attack people with DID they just want validation and comfort and when they learnt about DID they convinced themselves that's how it works. And of course I'm not saying every single person online is faking, I'm not saying anyone is faking I'm just saying a lot of people are lonely and confused. With DID these personalities aren't created by the person, I suppose subconsciously they are but we don't get to choose what they're like. Mine formed when I was about three due to sexual abuse that continued until I was eight. I don't think people understand the different parts, they think oh they protect your and comfort you. Sure, there's some that do but there's also some that are angry or afraid. Growing up none of us wanted to believe it so we were a pretty broken system. Sometimes one would take over when we were only six or seven and want to have sex or even touch themselves even if no one else wanted it because they were the one that held the sexual trauma.
Can DID form without trauma?
No, it can't. The whole point of DID is your subconscious mind protecting itself from danger. So, without danger DID doesn't form. It's like saying 'oh I have 3rd degree burns but I didn't get burnt.'
Can you be born with DID?
No, it's something that forms before the age of five, because our minds are still developing.
Can you have DID without any blackouts?
This is a hard question. There's such thing online called OSDD and I believe that it doesn't actually fall under DID I think it goes back to people creating identities to deal with their life. I used to black out quite a bit when the system was broken. But, once we started therapy we began working together instead of against each other. So, if another one took control I could still be around.
My way of describing DID
Whenevee I need to explain how fronting and co-fronting works I find the best way is the describe it as a car.
You have the person who's fronting in the driver's seat controlling the car, then you sometimes have someone in the passenger seat that is co-fronting and then you can also have people in the back seats, they can't really control anything from back there but they can still talk and interact with the fronter and co-fronter.
If you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask! Or ask them anonymously!
Hope some of this helped some people.

I actually have a basic philosophical aversion to any discourse around whether character A just sees character B as "useful", and have for a long time. (I'm speaking vaguely because this could apply to Cas, or Jack, and also Kevin, and probably some other characters who aren't explicitly enemies too).
Because
Back around s5/6 (back when different sides of Fandom would interact more) Cas haters would come up arguing that Dean doesn’t even like Cas, that he sees him as another monster, etc. And when casgirls would come back with examples of Dean obviously being friendly, their response would be "he's just doing that because Cas is useful." This would happen repeatedly. Like if you weren’t around at the time, you need to understand that casgirls were constantly on the defensive. And how frustrating it was to be called "delusional" as a matter of course. When the Cas haters couldn't even recognize the most surface-level read of a scene, that Dean is being friendly towards Cas because he feels friendly towards him. And that they had constructed this - frankly, insane - narrative where the main character manipulates a major recurring character into thinking they’re friends because he had useful powers. Like, who would want to write a show like that? Who would want to watch it?
So that's my baseline that I come to this issue with. And the thing that I carry with me in all my interpretations is that the main characters care about each other on at least some basic level. Because otherwise, what is the point? Literally what is the point of these relationships, why would we care about them, why are there stakes in the characters fighting and making up again, why are we supposed to enjoy watching it?
And I'm not down with how I've seen it presented in fics and in posts that either A cares about B as a person, or A wants B to be useful in a fight and these are two mutually exclusive things. This is a show about killing monsters and saving the world. The main thing that characters do together, the way they build and show camaraderie, the way they self-actualize even, is by killing monsters and saving the world. It is therefore inherently a good thing when characters can participate in that, and an obstacle to the plot when they cannot. I think that's just something you've got to take for granted when approaching the show. Furthermore, being "useful" is not just for the sake of the character asking for help, it's also for the sake of the character doing the helping - they're contributing to saving the world, they're being heroic, it's generally framed as a positive step in their character development, etc. Like I don't understand it being framed as a one-sided exchange.
It's also important that this is a show that's obsessed with its own masculinity. Even if it developed a small amount in later years, that kind of masculinity where using an umbrella is seen as too gay, that's what the show is fundamentally rooted in. So it's to be expected that characters don't show affection in a normal way, that they can only do so when the world is ending, or they're dying, or they're breaking down, etc. That it happens in these big emotional bursts -- that also happen to coincide with peaks in the plot, when it's necessary for characters to band together and fight.
There's a sidebar about the loss of angel powers. It's been over a year since I've actually watched the show, so I'm not sure if the show itself contributes to this. And I'm pretty sure that Misha has made emo comments about Cas feeling useless without his powers. But I absolutely hate the "Oh no poor Cas (or Jack) feels so useless without their powers they have such low self esteem" thing. (Like Cas does have self worth issues but that's another point). Angels losing their powers is akin to a person suddenly losing their arms and their sight. It's entirely normal to feel shitty about that, and yeah, to probably deal with feelings of uselessness.
It being a normal response also means it's not the fault of the Winchesters or whoever else that whatever angel character feels useless. This is something that I see in fic way too often. Like Cas thinks he’s so useless and such a burden that it's not even clear that he knows Dean likes him, and it's all Dean's fault that he feels that way. Which, at bottom, does not make sense. Like, these characters need to realize that they're all friends, otherwise, on a very basic level, none of this works. Again, there’s nothing to be invested in, nothing to care about. (And obviously depression does things to your brain, makes you feel like a burden, makes you worry that no one actually likes you. But that's not how the fics I'm complaining about are written).
Aside from the fact that there are actual examples of the characters helping/caring/confiding/spending time with each other, and acting like they know they're friends. Despite the masculinity diseases.
If there is a problem of a character not feeling useful I tend to take it as a problem of the show elevating the position of hunter above all else rather than as an absence of basic friendship.
The one exception that I'm willing to grant, where feelings of uselessness come from a broken relationship, is Dean and Jack at the end of s15. Specifically. That's it.
But yeah, I generally cannot stand "usefulness" discourse.

How do you feel about ToTK overall as a game? Like, how would you rate it out of 10 and why?
Thanks for the ask! I suppose about a 7 out of 10?
ToTK is a lot of fun to play through in its problem solving. Kinda. The ability to build your own solution is one of the strongest things it has going and I really like that, but I also feel that the range of access to tools you have also means that you can really just throw a few solutions at it that kind of solve everything.
I really don't like how so much discourse around Tears is just people yelling at other people that they're playing the game wrong when so much of what makes the game appealing is that it's accessible to people who think very differently with puzzle-solving.
I enjoy collecting the armor and dressing Link up in goofy outfits as well as Link babysitting his Nephew Tulin. The Gerudo woman who wields the cannon and is proud of it deserves all the love and joy in the world.
I love Sonia a great deal. I'd love a version of this game where you play as her instead. But it's unforgivable to make a character as sweet and kind as Sonia--one of the few dark-skinned main characters in the series--and then kick her out of the plot in such a horrible way. Most of the dark-skinned Zelda characters are either the "good Arab" trope like say Urbosa, Riju, and Nabooru, or you get cases like Tetra and Sonia where they're just erased from existence.
The biggest drawback for me is the storytelling and the narrative, which I don't think is a particularly hot take. The mystery of Zelda's whereabouts has the potential to be interesting, and the problem isn't even that it's obvious, it's that the game continually repeats itself about a dozen times with nothing new or interesting to go with it. None of the characters in the past feel like actual people and instead feel like vehicles to push the plot along at best and racial caricatures at worst.
Ganon doesn't even get to be a cunning or sly villain because he rose to power from everyone else just being incompetent.
I'd love for a Zelda game that gives Ganon an actual motivation for being the villain beyond just linking his evil to his racial identity because dude has more than enough ham to steal the show on his own.
I don't need Zelda to be a big gripping political conflict or some complex war, but I feel it misses a lot of the heart that made a lot of older Zelda games so compelling.
Wind Waker wasn't a complicated game, but I always feel strongly when Link comes back to see his grandma is sick and worried about her family. Portraying Link as a small kid in a big world with a family and all really sold a lot of the game.
Beyond that, it feels like you're constantly fighting against the UI and constantly fighting against choices that add up in inconvenience.
Linking abilities like movement speed and mobility to armor also means you constantly have to switch things around and spend too much time in the pause menu like the Iron Boots from the N64 Ocarina of Time taken to eleven. Pair that with the sages, having to get used to the weird controls, having to fuse things manually each time rather than just having a "favorites" option and it adds up quickly.
A lot of the things like rain and weapon durability still don't add anything interesting or fun to the game either.
It's a fun ride, but it can also be very trying at times.
Also, you can't pet the doggos. Bad.

did you think I was going to stop ranting about sp0p’s problems just because it’s a new year? thought i was going to make a clean break? tough fucking luck babes! today’s ramble is on That Thing You Like That Is Also Toxic, a thing that, for example, @adora-deserves-better has been seeing in the old ask box this evening.
as a courtesy note, as I’ve picked up one or two non-pornbot follows from people fleeing the birdsite implosion, if you do not want to see this stuff, please take this opportunity to blacklist “#spopcrit”, which has been my tag for this ongoing narrative and thematic autopsy for at least a year now. I promise that I don’t actually discuss this very often, I think at this point I’ve mostly said what I need to say (hell, even this is kind of a rehash of points I’ve made before, I just can’t be fucked tracking down those posts), but sometimes I do feel the need to dissect another organ to further look into what went wrong.
Anyway.
So the thing about fiction is that sometimes fictional romances are toxic. This is not, in itself, a problem; what matters is the handling of the toxicity.
As a case study, let’s look at the distinguished connoisseur’s enemies-to-lovers arc set in a science fantasy setting with a religious space empire and starring a lesbian with a big sword and a mysterious past, the Locked Tomb. Gideon and Harrow’s relationship is an unhinged mess of cosmic proportions. Harrow literally invented an entirely new way of having an unhealthy relationship just for this romance, and it involved brain surgery, which she performed on herself, at seventeen.
However.
The bit where this holds together is that the messiness and toxicity and general fuckery of the relationship is not an error on Tamsyn Muir’s part. It is a part of the narrative that Muir talks about in interviews. Exploring the mess and how it unfolds is a noticeable part of the plot.
It is, essentially, supposed to be kinda fucked.
This is where SP0P runs into its final season problems, because the framing and narrative treatment is not that this relationship is kinda fucked; it’s supposed to be Big and Heartwarming and they will beat you to death with scenes of them in Elysian-esque fields under golden light to make sure you know that...but that meshes poorly with the prior parts of the story, because as of S2-S3, this relationship was absolutely kinda fucked, there are entire episodes about how and why it’s kinda fucked, and, no matter what S5 thinks, it takes more than one apology to fix that.
The romance doesn’t work as narrative or thematic payoff because the show was previously making a big deal about themes that the romance actively harms, and the transition between the two stages is not smooth and does not feel natural. “The point of C*tra’s story is to explore what happens when you’re the toxic friend” meshes poorly with a final season that is all about everyone hastily forgiving C*tra for being the toxic friend and the people she hurt being stripped of agency to avoid any discomfort for the writers. “Abuse is bad” is absolutely a smart thing to say, but you lose a lot of points when you throw in “but also, the things my favourite character does that are totally indistinguishable from abuse are fine and romantic, actually.” They put in an actually really good episode about how C*tra’s obsession with Adora is wildly unhealthy and harmful to them both, and that she should just move on and let go, and then paid off absolutely none of that foreshadowing because it might make the shippers sad. Hell, Stevenson put “Learn to Let Go” on a C*tra playlist and then wrote an endgame about rewarding C*tra for not learning to let go!
The reason why C*tradora grinds my gears where, say, Griddlehark doesn’t is that Griddlehark is about taking a toxic mess, acknowledging that it’s a toxic mess and exploring how that toxic mess develops, and C*tradora is about taking a toxic mess, rushing through a kinda bad redemption arc that doesn’t meaningfully address the toxicity of the mess, and then just declaring it to be Officially Fine Now so that the showrunner’s favourite character can have a happy ending to a tremendously disappointing character arc.
(Also the pacing is bad and it ends up killing all the foreshadowing for actual interesting things the show had been doing in order to focus on C*tra whining about not being forgiven fast enough and how everything is still Adora’s fault, a thing that is vastly less sympathetic than the writers seem to think it is, but as ever, one crisis at a time!)
