Assassin, until the first moment

Just as Magnus was about to let his knife sink into the skin of the other man, the duke moved his eyelids. The assassin froze and a few seconds later he was staring into the now open eyes of Alexander Lightwood. Magnus almost expected to see fear in the duke’s eyes, but this was not the case. He could see a challenging glow instead.
The assassin realised that the duke understood the situation immediately, and they both stared into the eyes of the other... The duke leaned his head back, pressed himself further into the pillow beneath him and offered his throat to Magnus. The sharp blade sank into the soft skin slightly the blood welled instantly from a small cut. Magnus looked almost terrified at the red runlet which ran down over the duke’s skin into the white pillow. Magnus couldn’t move. What was wrong with him? He had to fulfil his mission but something was stopping him, making him hesitate.
“Do it”, the duke demanded and the dark husky voice sent shivers down Magnus’ spine.
“What are you waiting for? Do it.”

I was watching a Avengers and I thought of Kai. If you do watch them, which character do you think is the most similar to him. Would he be a hero or a villain?
So I've only seen about half of the MCU.😭 There's so many, I find it hard to keep up. (I've seen the Iron Man(s), Captain America(s), the first two Avengers, the first movies of Ant Man, Spiderman, and Black Panther, Black Widow, and Hawkeye and the Sam/Bucky show what's it called.) [Not like you asked for all that.] But can answer from the characters I know!
First off, I would love to see him be a hero, but I think he'd be a villain. (Maybe he'd end up like one of the villains that some of the heroes learn to love [like Bucky].) Or, he's one of those villains that has a specific skill that the heroes end up needing to defeat the Even Bigger Villain, which puts him in the gray area. But generally, I think he would kind of piss off most of the Avengers, and he might be a little too sociopathic for their style.😅 (I can picture Tony Stark losing his absolute shit if Kai makes one more snarky comment.)
As for similarities with the Avengers, I can see a couple to whom he's alike. I think he has a lot of the same boy-ish behaviors as Peter Parker. (ha, and they have the same last name.) They're both still really young and learning how to adapt to their new realities. (Peter becoming Spiderman; Kai escaping the PW & then becoming coven leader.) They both have someone in their life who they seem to look to for guidance, despite that person not always having patience with them. (Peter with Tony; while it's not explicitly stated, Kai's always seen hanging around Damon, regardless if the man wants his company or not [6x16; 8x13]). Lastly, back on the boy-ish behaviors point, both have a girl they're trying to impress, and both have things that make them really excited in a child-like manner. (Peter with Legos and the Spiderman suit; Kai with Twitter and his spells, every time he's given the chance to have magic.) (And let's not forget about Kai's stash of Alex Rodriguez baseball cards.)
Aside from Peter, I mentioned Bucky earlier. Kai is similar to him in the way that he was a killer at one point, but then tried to redeem himself. To some, no attempt at redemption was enough to warrant forgiveness, but some others grew lenient / grew to accept him. (Tony will never forgive him for killing his parents, but Bucky had the support of everyone who fought for him in Civil War. He became very close with Sam later on. Kai, unfortunately, had his redemption arc stripped from him, but if it were given, I could see him and Damon being at least frenemies. In season 8, Caroline hears him out about his childhood, and had he not later tried to kill the twins again, I think they could've connected through that. Other characters, like Bonnie and Alaric, will never forgive Kai.) The only other similarity that I think these characters share is tragic backstories.
Finally, I have one last point to make, being that for some reason, Kai gives me Clint Barton vibes, but I think that's entirely just because both characters can be sassy. Clint always manages to make me laugh, as does Kai, and I think that's the only reason they are alike. Maybe it's also the bow and arrow, considering one is Hawkeye and the other used this weapon for one scene and never again. I can't explain my thinking here, it's just pure vibes. 😅 Kai certainly would not have the same stable relationship nor amount of kids, but both characters sure are sassy. The similarities start and end there.
So... I definitely did not mean to make this this long, and I hope I even answered what you were asking, lmao. But I think, in summary, he's most like Peter Parker, but like... sociopathic... Maybe Kai would be in an Avengers movie where Peter has to fight his evil twin. 😂 Maybe by the end of said movie, Peter manages to get through to him, or Kai's denied his redemption arc again and gets even more murder-y. (Actually, that concept might be fun to explore.)
Anyway, thank you for the ask, and sorry for the long-winded reply! It took me a day because I had to think about it, but I might've thought too hard. (But hey, it was fun to think about!)

a quick and dirty event guide featuring important episodes and plot points: seasons 3 and 4.
note: the events of the show happen as they do, albeit tweaked and a little darker and more mature; the salvatore boarding school looks like a regular boarding school but behind closed doors, vampires are feeding off other students despite technically not being allowed to do so; witches use their abilities outside of the classrooms and are practicing forbidden magic, etc.
in 3x01, flori is fighting the urge to fall asleep at the assembly. she perks up at the mention of a field trip, however, and participates in the games.
a green knight shows up, effectively ruining the field trip. several students - including jed - try to attack him and much like josie, flori makes a face when alyssa flirts with jed.
flori connects the dots and figures out that this green knight is gawain, who had a wife named florie. once she says his name, his armor falls away - but according to loren, the enchantment sticks because it’s been building up for ages - and flori sees a tall boy about her own age with green eyes and dark hair. he collapses and she vamp speeds towards him, catching him and holding him close. he dies, thinking he finally made it back to his wife like he promised he would. flori plays along to give him some comfort in his final moments and sobs as he passes away.
in 3x02, tv!alaric dies (novel alaric can stay) and bonnie takes over as headmistress until caroline's return.
in 3x03, flori is furious with landon for not including bonnie in the musical but she helps kaleb and jed run their lines anyway. she goes to watch the musical for them and the saltzmans.
in 3x04, flori throws herself back into her malivore slash machado family slash night world research. she also tentatively reaches out to thea and blaise harman.
in 3x05, flori is present during the second go in the therapy box. she finds her safe word, becomes self aware and leaves the simulation.
in 3x06, flori is really excited when it turns out that gaby rodriguez is one of the people who's been recruited; gaby's one of her pen pal friends and has been since before flori got turned into a vampire. penelope returns from belgium.
in 3x07, flori helps out with the fundraiser but ends up leaving early.
in 3x08, blind spots come to light: flori's blind spots are her friends, her (estranged) family, and her other loved ones.
in 3x09, flori joins mg and enrolls (very briefly) at mystic falls high but she's not very happy to be there.
in 3x10, flori tells ethan that she's a vampire. she even goes as far to tell him how she got turned.
in 3x11, lizzie asks flori if she can do a headdive on finch. flori refuses, citing that she doesn't do headdives without the subject's say so. lizzie goes to mg next, who says yes.
kaleb and cleo go back to triad industries and flori joins them. she smiles when she catches kaleb and cleo flirting but kaleb turns it right back around on her, calling her out for flirting with jed.
in 3x12, to dissuade ethan from turning into a vampire, flori finally name drops his uncle, derek machado. mg ends up erasing ethan's memories.
in 3x13, flori is glad that finch has transferred to the salvatore school. despite them being as different as night and day, she does come to regard finch as a dear friend and the sister she never had. it feels good to have someone around with whom she can share her culture.
in 3x14, flori returns to grove hill where andi holds her witchy wellness retreat; before andi dies, flori talks to her about the triad industries detention center and the ties it has to the zetes institute.
in 3x16, flori stands with the anti squad and the super squad to oppose malivore for once and for all.
in season four, hope goes dark and flori helps figuring out ways to bring her back. both of the saltzmans become heretics, thereby solving the merge. caroline comes back and takes over the position as headmistress with bonnie as her right hand woman.
post canon: flori goes on a road trip with jed to help him find his sisters; derek pops back up, intending to kill as many people as it takes to get to hope mikaelson, and he'll start with flori. derek is also working together with burr (since released from his stone form) and veronica greasley as well as doug carlson, joe flowers and tami bryce - people from flori's past. meanwhile, flori also works on getting into circle daybreak, reconnecting with her family and eventually settles down and starts working for salvatore as their resident tech expert, making sure that all footage gets scrubbed accordingly and nothing gets out to the general public each time the young preternaturals of the world go out and do their things.

The warlock fell limp with a soft moan, the azure mist fading from his fingers, and Alec slid a hand around to cradle the back of his head, letting Magnus rest back against his leg.
“Hey,” Alec muttered, his eyes on Magnus as Clary and Alaric were fussing over Luke. “Are you okay?”
Magnus reached a hand back, gently clasped Alec’s upper arm. His eyes opened, his breaths coming unsteady, but his gaze was focused on Alec’s face. “Yeah,” he mumbled and Alec rested a hand over the back of the warlock’s own, holding his touch against his arm. “Are you…?”
“Yeah,” Alec replied quickly for fear that Magnus would worry. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
Magnus hummed his appreciation and Alec helped him to sit up when he attempted it alone, his hand pressing to Magnus’s back, feeling his spine jutting out against his palm and almost shocking back from its prominence. The warlock’s slender frame fit against him almost too well. Alec had the sudden and fierce urge to keep him here forever.

LOVE YOU SO MUCH YOUR POSTS ARE GOD TIER AHHHHHHHHH anyway I’m feeling like shit so just wanted to give you this idea: I’m thinking several years after defeating valentine and lilith and that creep jonathan (and this is an au where maia is alaric and luke’s adoptive daughter and the polycule are thriving and happy and malec are the soulmate power couple we know and love) and anyway it’s a few years after all that and between dismantling the clave and changing the world, magnus alec luke and alaric have become close and hang out together on double dates and hook up on the regular, no big deal, except that thanks to magnus and alec still being very active in their leadership roles while luke and alaric are stepped back into more mentoring positions they often don’t have much time as they would like to have. so because alec is irritated that he barely got to have a honeymoon before being swept up in work and kept away from spending time with the love of his life, and magnus is close to burning out with how much he’s working to make sure everyone else is taken care of, so they resign from their posts and are like “we have done a lot for the shadow world so we are now taking an extended vacation and if you need us don’t contact us unless it’s the apocalypse and maybe only if it’s a major apocalypse k thx bye” and just do whatever they want (they have eternity after all) and ANYWAYS GETTING BACK ON TRACK they are having a double date/casual make out session in the loft with alaric and luke, exchanging kisses between good wine and good food when magnus is like “hey maybe we should go on vacation together all four of us” and that’s how the four of them decide to spend a month or two on a private island magnus owns (a small Indonesian island???), just relaxing on the beach, taking trips to the mainland to explore and have great food, and of course, copious amounts of sex in their lovely beachside house.
Maybe magnus and alec go out for a stroll along the beach at sunset (because alec will take every opportunity to be romantic af and woo the pants off of magnus) and they get back and you KNOW magnus is horny af bc romance kink and they get back to find luke splayed out on the couch, getting his ass worshipped by alaric and they’re like “holy fuck this is so hot alexander” “oh my god magnus i wanna eat him out so bad” and alaric is like “why don’t you join in? show luke what he deserves” so they do and it’s great because hello luke’s ass was designed by the gods. And yeah it’s just chill and casual and they established that as long as the doors are open, they’re down to fuck, (barring anyone safewording of course) and they don’t always have foursomes; sometimes alec and magnus need that intense, romantic, life-affirming sex so they close their bedroom door and no hard feelings (but they definitely get teased when magnus comes down for breakfast in nothing but a too-short silk robe and so many hickies; alec sporting marks along his runes especially his neck, and scratches from magnus’ nails along his shoulders biceps and back) and sometimes alaric and luke want some time alone to just be with each other and they do and it’s no big deal and yeah just warmth and comfort and sex and love and friendship and ahhhhhhhhhhh

this ask is so wonderful and ugh YES you are so right about the retirement thing. I don't know if they would Retire Officially because i think magnus in particular would go crazy, like, he needs to be working, and alec too to a lesser extent, but they do need breaks and because they are important and irreplaceable they can be like "we are retiring" and then come back and everyone will just be like "oh thank god you're here again"

and yeah absolutely like they get along well because they are all great with boundaries and confident enough to understand that you don't need to Always Be Together to have a good relationship (romantic or not; it's fine that aluke and malec want private time and it's also fine if magnus and luke are doing their own thing and alec and alaric are doing other thing, or even that they are all separately doing their own thing) so everyone has their own space whenever they want, all they gotta do is say the word or even just go to some secluded space and have their good time. so their vacations always go splendidly because their respect for each other is all over the place

Family dinners!! Maia meeting the whole family
first part
okay so family dinners, pack version. dinner with the pack is always a huge mess. luke and alaric as the dad&dad that they are for the clan want everybody to eat healthily and appropriately. maia&bat as the golden kids that they also are want to cook (as they’re better than luke&alaric anyway) but they also want to make, like, more elaborate/nice dishes. and the rest of the pack just wants to completely down all of the worst shit you can possibly imagine. luke and alaric are like “make some broccoli” and maia and bat are like “okay so gratin broccoli with tons of cheese got it” and luke and alaric are like “no- you know what that works” and the rest of the pack is like “we brought Twenty Kilos Of Doritos and a truck of beer”. and luke is like “hmmm i guess this means i’ll have some jerky as a treat” and alaric is like LUKE WE HAVE TO SET THE EXAMP-
also, wolves have to eat a lot, so the amount of food is just like... absurd tbh. all in all the whole thing lasts many ours, ends up with almost everyone drunk out of their minds, and is very loud. so maia is kind of like... okay full disclose this is gonna be weird af and everyone is crazy. and raphael is all sweet about it like “it’s your family, corazón, i want to be a part of this”
cue raphael being the try-hard that he is and showing up in his best, like, Church Clothes with some dessert. and don’t get me wrong they think it’s nice/sweet but also like “pfft this guy won’t last half an hour here”. but he actually gains points because it turns out that he a- made tons and tons, and b- put some liquor in it so they all instantly like him
luke and alaric try to be accommodating and all “welcome to the jade wolf, sorry for the mess” and someone comes from behind them like “IF YOU HURT MAIA WE WILL RIP YOUR THROAT OFF” and there’s a huge chorus of “YEAH!” and luke is like “guys please at least be nice first. raphael we are happy to have you here. if you hurt maia we’ll rip your throat off” but raphael takes it in stride and is like “i don’t plan to, but i’m happy to see how much you care for her” and luke nods and smiles and you can see that he’s thinking “correct answer” and alaric rolls his eyes but gives him a little peck for being a cute protective dad :)
so anyway it’s also a success, because raphael grew up with a mexican family, he is used to loud af dinners that last hours and have everyone absolutely losing their minds. also, he gets along very well with both luke and alaric, as well as bat. the two of them can bond over being relatively newly turned latino downworlders who tend to be more quiet in the middle of this mess, and it’s nice. raphael leaves with pats on his back and a smile on his face, happy to know that not only a huge step was taken in the vampires & wolves relations, but also in his relationship with maia, who is all emotional because oh god she just introduced a boyfriend to her family and he is a vampire and she never thought she would get this... and she just hugs him and laughs and is so happy and raphael kisses her forehead... aaaaaa
