The Second Flautist remains the stupidest but also funniest adaptation choice. Su Minshan, heretofore portrayed as a cringefail loser who needed Wangxian and Wen Ning to save his ass from the Waterborne Abyss, overrides Wei Wuxian’s demonic cultivation abilities TWICE. Not only does he seize control of Wen Ning, but he manipulates the resentment summoned by Wei Wuxian to attack people and turn them into puppets at Nightless City SO EFFECTIVELY that Wei Wuxian cannot regain control of them even on an individual basis with the Yin Tiger Tally helping him.
Su Minshan, true Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, is the most overpowered character in the entire series, and we must therefore conclude that he chooses to be Jin Guangyao’s devoted henchman rather than seizing any power for himself because he finds it personally fulfilling.

i’m relistening to gtn and i caught something interesting
during the scene where gideon goes for tea with the eighth, silas comments that she might be originally from the third house because of the color of her hair (which is always described as outrageously and unnaturally red)
that plus the fact that corona and ianthe have violet eyes makes me wonder if maybe necromancy-fueled genetic engineering is a major thing on the third? it’s already canon that necros can give themselves bigger asses via necromancy, so why Not be able to alter their DNA to change the color of their eyes or hair the same way…….. or even do necromantic plastic surgery!! the third house is already written to be very vain as a culture, so it wouldn’t surprise me if cosmetic necromancy was developed there…. many thoughts.

Guys I found my old corpse bride au concepts I literally cried for days because I thought I lost these😭
In the second image that’s Dan and Matt’s rough designs. They’re meant to be either ghosts or just plain undead. Dan was murdered in the brothel she worked at (strangled it’s why she wears the choker) and Matt died from an overdose
Allison is a widow who died of a broken heart but I had fun with her design and made her this spider like woman in the afterlife (to represent Black Widow the spider from the movie) (Seth was Allison’s husband, died from suicide/overdose) (Seth was cremated so he’s not in the Land of the Dead)
Renee, Kevin, Nicky, and Aaron are all alive in this au, being part of Andrew’s family. Kevin is playing the part of Victoria but the arranged marriage was a deal Andrew made Kevin back when they were teens. If both of them were still single by the time they were 21, then Andrew would marry Kevin so Kevin wouldn’t have to marry Riko. Andrew gets cold feet about the commitment and the lying to his family so he goes to clear his head in the forest
Andrew rehearses his vows but then adds onto them, forming it into a deal.
“With this hand I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle, I will light your way into darkness. With this ring, I ask you to be mine. And with these vows, I promise to protect you from your monsters and avenge you shall they dare to antagonize you, as long as you stay by my side.”
Neil ends up rising from the ground where Andrew was and accepts his deal. Andrew is startled by a corpse groom and tries to get back to his family but Neil chases after him. Andrew slips and falls into the river and Neil fishes him out and takes him to the Land of the Dead. After the shock of everything has died down, Andrew tries to reject Neil but his unwillingness to go back on a deal basically makes him stuck with Neil for a bit.
Instead of Neil longing for a husband, he longs for revenge on those who killed him. Andrew investigates Neil’s murder with whatever Neil remembers. They slowly fall for each other and Andrew tries to avoid going to the Land of the Living to avoid the wedding until he can fix his Corpse fiancé issue
Andrew’s gone too long and Kevin is forced to marry Riko. Renee is searching for Andrew while he’s gone and ends up being murdered for sniffing around where she shouldn’t have. She reunites with Andrew in the LotD and tells him what happened while he was gone. Andrew takes action to at least make good on killing Riko for hurting Neil before he died. Neil goes with him and it’s then that Neil remembers that Riko was there the night he was murdered and it was Riko who killed him
Riko dies a brutal death from Andrew cuz laws of the dead don’t apply to him :) then the undead beat the crap out of him for eternity
Andrew tells his family the whole thing and Kevin doesn’t have to marry Andrew anymore. Andrew makes his choice to stay with Neil now that his unfinished business is completed (Aaron’s well off and married happily as is Nicky, Kevin is safe and won’t have to marry Riko) Andrew poisons himself and reunites with Neil in the LotD and the End

Some Saori family stuff.
First one is a portrait of her and her parents. She's an only child as her parents met later in their lives and decided to have a child even later, but she's very close with them. She's a huge daddy's girl. While her dad is from Morrowind and fully Dunmer, her mother grew up in Cyrodiil and is 1/4 Nibean Imperial and 3/4 Dunmer. Her dad is of House Sadras and her mother's ancestors were from House Hlaalu. Saori grew up in Cyrodiil but was pretty much completely raised in Dunmer culture with her mom's extended family.
Second one is a moment from Saori's childhood with her great-grandfather (on her mother's side). He's from Vvardenfell (and moved to Cyrodiil after the Red Year) and liked to tell Saori stories of Morrowind pre-Red Year, eventually inspiring her to move to Vvardenfell for her ecological restoration project as an adult. He's very excited about it and very supportive.
(Dunmeris for for grandfather "gahata" from here)
