Ok Eri since you asked very nicely I will go ahead and let you hear on my ramblings on both Tatiana and Kliff :3

We'll start off with Tatiana first

First Impression: I knew she was the final boss of the game but I had no idea that I would come to enjoy her as a character and eventually simp for her like the bisexual I am. Tatiana is indeed a queen <3

Impression Now: She's one of my favorite characters and I absolutely adore her character. She's the icon, she's the legend, and she's the moment

Favorite Moment: After her boss fight when she goes off on Mayday, I could feel how much truth her words were, especially when she said "Never have heroes honey, believe me you'll have fewer disappointments." I honestly related to that sentence so hard due to past experiences-

Idea for a Story: This mainly involves my OFA AU but Tatiana and her oldest daughter Titanium having a heart to heart when Tatiana finds out her daughter is literally overworking herself being the current CEO of NSR so she has to tell her it's ok to ask for help and to take a break. Just thinking about this idea makes my mind go brrr-

Unpopular Opinon: I'm not sure if this counts as unpopular but I really wish we could've had more lore about the Goolings and Tatiana's past, it would've been so much more intriguing-

Favorite Relationship: Tatiana being like a mentor to Mayday is something that always makes my heart flutter. Mayday showing how much she can play on Tatiana's old guitar that she gave her while Tatiana just smiles like a proud parent. Of course I also love shipping Tatiana with my NSR sona Olive it's a match literally made in heaven like yivdugdefuyvcbdfuyfva- the first time they meet is after the Music Revolution and the Garden of Thorns comes to town and right away gets a lot of attention that NSR also gets wind of them. They get invited to the NSR Tower to discuss collaborations but when Tatiana arrives at her office to meet them she's quick to notice that one of the band members is missing. Percy (lead singer) tells Tatiana that the drummer went to go grab some coffees and right when Tatiana says they can start without her, Olive comes in through the door with said coffees, not giving any mind that she's late and Tatiana notices just how tall Olive is-

Favorite Headcanon: Trans and Lesbian Tatiana. Being Kul Fyra also inspired a lot of LGBT+ people to be themselves, especially the fans.

And now it's time for Kliff and his moment to shine >:)

First Impression: When I saw him for the first time my heart skipped a bit, Kliff was the most cutest ginger I ever saw in my lifetime and I wanted to hold hands with him. I was a bit disappointed that he was a twist villain at first but then I realized he could still be redeemed if I put my mind to it via fan fiction lol

Impression Now: He could've taken a different approach in an attempt to get closure instead of trying to use a falling satellite, but at the end of the day Kliff is a stinky man and I love him.

Favorite Moment: When he first shows up in the game, Kliff is not only a cute ginger but he's also very helpful. His Kliffnotes on the NSR Artists are also very interesting and if you look closely there could be lore.

Idea for a Story: I need to update it but I'm working on a fanfic where Kliff does apologize to everyone for his actions and the Queen herself aka my oc Artemis helps him out, and while they're doing that they're also falling in love with each other because yes. Another idea which involves my OFA AU again is after the stunt Orion pulls with hacking into a satellite and blasting Burning Constellation's music on all technical platforms, Kliff is very proud of his daughter in a sense like "THAT'S MY GIRL :D " before his wife/Artemis gives him a look and Kliff goes "I mean Orion you can't be doing that- (I'm still proud of you though hack those satellites like I taught you >:D)"

Unpopular Opinon: I feel that there are some people that kind of go a bit too far with hating Kliff and I've come across fanfics where people write Kliff as an irredeemable character/a literal psychopath and I'm like ??? Can y'all chill??? I get that he's a bad person but he's not that evil-

Favorite Relationship: I would very interested to explore the concept of Kliff in his younger days and his relationship with Kul Fyra. Of course there's also me shipping Kliff with Artemis which is also a match made in heaven they're like so adorable Imma cry-

Favorite Headcanon: Kliff figuring out he's bisexual since back in the day he would flirt with other Goolings fans which were both men and women. Also DILF Kliff and him and Artemis going to every concert that their kids perform (Orion and her band Burning Constellation and Prince Astral's concerts with Linus because violin and piano duets are my favorite things in the world-)

NSR: What they do when there's a bug in the room

Since I'm doing the main characters, there's a lot here. So under the cut it goes. No endgame spoilers, but minor spoilers for a few bosses that have alternate forms

Mayday: She's not a fan of bugs. She will SCREAM. She mostly shoos at it and tells it to go away until it scuttles off. If she really has to, she'll swat at it with something. Not to kill it, just to get it to move. She may not like the little things, but she won't kill them. If there's someone else with her she'll ask them to handle it. Well, more like beg them to. Then once it's handled she tries to pretend like she wasn't just freaking out.

Zuke: Also not a fan of bugs but not as loud about it as May. He will grab something to nudge it with to get it to move. Or if it climbs onto what he's holding he repeats "okay okay just stay just stay" under his breath while he takes it outside, then frantically waves the object around to get the bug to fall off. Usually between him and May, he's the one getting rid of the bugs. With anyone else around, he would much prefer they handle the bug, but if they're more scared of it than he is, he'll take action.

DK West: Indifferent to bugs. He'll pick them up in a cup and put them outside. Or if there's nothing to pick it up with, he'll take it in his hands, as long as it's not something that he thinks might bite or sting. He won't complain about having to move a bug, but he visibly shudders every time.

DJ Subatomic Supernova: Look this guy is a nerd. He's even a bit of a nerd about bugs. Unless this is something that actually poses some kind of threat, he'll pick it up in his hands and take it outside. He's used to being the only calm person when there's a bug, so he's usually the first one to get up and retrieve a bug as soon as one is noticed. If he's in the company of anyone else who can stay calm around bugs, he'll share any interesting facts he has about the one he's holding. Other people freaking out over bugs tends to annoy him. That said, he’s easily startled, and anything that could bite him, that moves suddenly, or he just can’t identify will freak him out. He might scream if it jumps at him.

Remi: Totally fine with bugs, even finds them neat. Out of the Sayu group he’s the one who handles bugs most often. He’ll pick up bugs with his bare hands or in a cup. If he’s alone when he spots a bug, he might leave it alone for a few minutes just to watch it crawl around.

Dodo: A little squicked out by bugs. By himself he mostly stays at a distance, traps it under a cup, then yeets it outside. Around anyone else though he usually hangs back to see if they'll take care of it. If they're more nervous about it though, he'll handle it.

Sofa: Out of the Sayu group he's the most bothered by bugs. He'll pick up a bug with a long object and put it outside and freak out about it the whole time. If anyone else is around he'll ask them to handle it. If he had to move it he'll wash his hands like three times even though he didn't touch it.

Tila: Finds bugs kinda neat but does not like handling them. She will pick them up in a cup and put them outside but she will not touch them. Usually the one in the squad handling bugs if Remi can't. Bugs inside bother her, bugs outside do not.

Sayu: Alright I'm not sure what situation leads to Sayu seeing a bug but since Sayu is for presentation it's probably in the presence of other people. She can't handle the bug herself due to how big she is (and in some cases, because she is presented virtually). But she will do her best to calm down whoever else is around. An advocate of gently putting the bug somewhere else, please don't kill our little friend :(

Yinu: She tends to get squicked out by bugs she's unfamiliar with, though once she learns about them she settles down. But there are a lot of bugs that don't bother her, like garden spiders and ants. Anything that she sees while she's gardening with Mama she has learned to not be afraid of. On her own she might pick up a bug and put it in a nice spot outside, out to the garden if she's at home. She'll even talk to the bug a little bit. If she's not quite comfortable she'll get Mama to handle the bug. Around people who are more nervous about bugs though, she takes on a teaching role and shows them that the bug won't hurt them as she picks it up and takes it away.

Mama: Very calm around bugs, actually. She's taught Yinu that bugs are good, important creatures and are not scary. She calmly picks up bugs and puts them outside. In the presence of anyone who is scared of bugs, she will offer to help them calm down. She has no patience for people who angrily hate bugs, though.

Rin/White: Around other people (other than 1010) he immediately goes to take care of it and insists that he’s got it, there’s no need to worry, even if nobody is actually freaked out. Usually picks it up with something or under a cup, but if need be will pick it up by hand. Incredibly calm the whole time. As soon as he’s back, he checks if anyone needs calming down.

Zimelu/Red: Secretly a nerd about bugs but keeps quiet about it because he doesn’t want to seem weird. Around the rest of 1010 he’s usually the one handling the bugs. When alone, he’ll hold the bug for a while after taking it out just to admire it. Around other people, he puts on a tough guy act while he picks it up and takes it outside. Gets a little shy with anyone who takes an interest in bugs and wants to share facts/watch the bug with him.

Eloni/Green: If there is a meme with a bug that resembles this one he’ll quote it. With other people he pretends to drop it on them after he picks it up. Unless of course they are genuinely scared by bugs, in which case he wouldn’t dream of pranking them like that. If Red is around he’ll get his attention to show him the bug, knowing his interest.  Haym/Yellow: Calls it cute no matter what it is. Around other people he will offer to let them look at it while he holds it, or watch as he releases it outside. For people nervous around bugs, he’ll try to show them that it’s okay. While not as much of a nerd, will happily listen to Red talk bugs.

Purl-Hew/Blue: Absolutely chill while removing a bug. Just stone faced and quiet. Kinda indifferent towards them but has a small appreciation for them seeing how Red and Yellow like them. Except for around other 1010 members, with other people he’s usually the first one who notices and the one to handle a bug in the room. A lot of times if he’s the one who saw it he won’t even say so to keep everyone else from freaking out. Incredibly gentle in placing it outside.

Neon J: Not a fan of bugs but has learned to put up with them. Traps it under a cup and puts it outside. At home it’s usually one of his troops that handles the bugs, and if he’s alone and sees it he’ll call someone else and pretend that it was just because he knows they have an interest in the things. Truthfully, he would prefer someone else handle bugs, but he’ll never admit that. Around people who are scared of bugs, he handles it himself and then checks on them.

Eve: Does not care for touching bugs, but can deal with them. She usually finds something to pick it up with and relocate it. She is uncomfortable with bugs being around her. While she can handle a bug situation on her own, she does prefer for someone else to do it. She also takes a bit of inspiration from bugs. Being able to create six limbs herself, she sees a bit of connection between her and insects, and sometimes reflects that in her art. She also finds interesting patterns and colors to work with by looking up butterflies, moths, and beetles.

Tatiana: Really does not care about bugs. She’s not a fan but also not a hater. She won’t kill them if she can put them outside, but also isn’t too bothered by killing them if need be. Especially if it’s something like an ant or termite that could end up in an infestation if left unchecked. When relocating a bug, she picks it up on or in something. She does find some beauty in them, even the unconventionally pretty ones. 

Kliff: Jumpy around bugs. He does not like touching them. He does not like handling them. Alone, he tries to trap them in a cup and then throw the cup outside. Around someone else, he simply moves to the other side of the room or somewhere else entirely, hoping they see it and handle it. If they don’t notice it quickly enough, he’ll mention that he sees it. He’s trying to get them to get rid of it without actually asking. He doesn’t like letting people know that he’s kinda scared of bugs because he’s afraid he’ll seem lame.

Gonna put this under a read more though because it might get long

The thing is, I started out with maybe 3 ships? But then the manga had the AUDACITY to be like "sorry you can't have romantic relationships fr in heroes :(" and I made a couple more out of spite because like. C'mon. They literally get married in the s support. Anyway I'll start off with the ogs and maybe a few more but know that once I made that choice I couldn't turn that part of my brain off so there are a lot.

I think the first was Loki and Seteth. Which might seem weird but,, hear me out. Seteth is all about order. Loki is a literal trickster goddess. I imagine her like, constantly bugging him and trying to get his skin and she does, but also he gets used to it? And it gets kind of weird when he doesn't see her for a while? There's also the fact that, in her own mischevious way, Loki has a soft spot for kids. Since they're both healers imagine her helping out Flayn and Flayn thinking she's fun and cool then Seteth sees them hanging out and nearly has a heart attack lol. Oh! Spoilers for 3 houses but another big appeal for this ship is that compared to some other characters, Seteth's life span is probably closer to Loki's lol. This one is hard for me to explain but I feel it in my soul

Next up was Helbindi and Eir. So I think what originally happened was me thinking Helbindi questions Eir about how death works since y'know, he should have died, (but also he's low key asking to try and gauge whether his sister could be brought back as well). But somewhere along the line I started thinking. Helbindi's whole thing is trying super hard to seem tough (and he is! to be fair), but deep down he's a softie. I think Eir would end up seeing right through him, not through like some super strong intuition but more of, what's he gonna do, kill her? Lol been there done that. And once he realizes he can't spook her off they just kind of vibe, and then they get to talking about the awful stuff they had to do under their awful ruler's orders. And they bond over not really feeling like they belong. Then suddenly Helbindi realizes he's feeling,, soft? around her? And Eir notices she feels happier? maybe even just happy in general? tbh it probably takes them a while to put the pieces together but that's what it's all about sometimes.

Next we have Laegjarn and Triandra. One day I made the connection that these two both made big sacrifices for their younger sisters and it wouldn't leave me alone. And then I looked at Triandra's lvl 40 conversation where she said more than anything she just wanted someone to understand. And I think Laegjarn would understand very well. But! Not only would she understand, she could give a new perspective. Because in that same convo, Triandra feels like the love she had for her sister wasn't enough, that in the end she was too weak to fully protect her. In Laegjarn's she talks about how her love for her sister was what made her strong and kept her going.I have this very specific image in my mind for this one of like. Laegjarn having a dream and being in that world, by a body of water, and she leans down to drink and she sees Triandra. And since Triandra is a fairy of nightmares of course things start to go wrong. This keeps happening until Laegjarn notices a pattern and confronts her... only to wake up. And that's when Triandra gets summoned. And then things happen from there.

Those are the ones that are the most in depth but there are lots of others.

Reginn and Kliff. So Kliff likes to learn, and he likes magic, right? Reginn operates a magical metal... horse thing. I think it could be a good conversation starter and after that I can just see them bouncing off each other well

Takumi and Shanna. Yes this is because of that gauntlet. Can you imagine them bumping into each other occasionally, then that gauntlet happens, right. And Shanna reaches out a hand to him from his spot on the ground and she's smiling and she says "Hey, good match!" and the sun behind her forms like a halo behind her and Takumi's like "Oh shit,," and then later on maybe, during that possessed gauntlet, she's there by her side and look. They'd be cute okay? Trust me

Summer Mercedes and Summer Rhys. SPEAKING OF CUTE oh my god this is so soft,,, like they're both such kind people who try their best to help others. And they would not make an exception for each other! You know on those days Rhys is feeling particularly weak under the sun Mercie is there with that drink weapon lmao and he's her biggest cheerleader when it comes to the whole breaking away from that arranged marriage or w/e her adopted dad was trying to get her to do. Mans is like "Go out there and live your dreams!" They both just look after each other and it makes me happy

Space Dad

Even among all the oddities and magic, no one stuck out more than DJ Subatomic Supernova.

His orb head/helmet was constantly changing constellations and galactic images-and he has uttered both glee and annoyance when seemingly new images show up or an “old” one is altered due to the merging.

his strange bending arms showed no real “joints” but continuously flexed and bend like a rubber hose.

But he was the groups strange oddity and an interesting teacher- formerly in equestria the only one who knew this much about space was luna- as her magic and very being was tied to it- astrologists was still a profession, but no one had a greater knowledge of it then her before the merges happened, and DJ knew things luna didn’t know, of the pretty space ash clouds being cradles for a new stars formation and such. He’s still a DJ most nights, but has picked up teaching again as astrology professor- allowing almost anyone in as long as they were willing to learn and didn’t Voice or act on ANY form of racism in his classroom- those that did found them suddenly outside and barred from returning to the classroom or the Observatory.

they day they saw the a glimpse of his true powers however, would remain in their minds for a long long time.

Kliff had escaped from custody and retrieved followers from some of the other merged in worlds, and while his anger towards bunk bed junktion and tatiana remained, he elected to go after a different…. smaller target. Little kosma was a very powerful toddler, and could be a very powerful and devastating weapon if raised a certain way, a way neither Nova or Neon wanted, but Kliff? Kliff in all his power mad self? Kliff saw the potential, and the glaring missed opportunity he had with mayday staring at him 

Had he kept up with Nick, he could have raised mayday on his side of the story, and have her loyal to only him, Rock would be the only music in Vinyl City once again, and Ful Kyra wouldn’t be stifulled by the role she’s playing.

but he lost that chance, but taking Kosma (and he would only need to alter her name slightly to be more Rock like!!!) he would have a powerful weapon and tool, along with power over several artists close to Mayday and Zuke.

He’s not letting another chance Slip away.

The day of kliff’s attempted abduction of kosma was technically a meeting of the full counsel. However it fell on Flurry Heart and Kosma’s shared birthday so they elected to just have a party with everyone’s family there outside in the gardens, a chance to relax and experience a fun event without worrying over what rouge creature combination was attacking who and all the crisis of worlds coming together on small scales.

then the attack hit, greater numbers mean nothing if you haven’t fought together before - with even the diamonds in small mode (look human babies are cute, Pony babies are cute, they wanted to coo over the baby photo’s properly and to do that you need to be the same size as everyone else)- it fell into chaos quickly.

Song had been holding onto Kosma- while no longer a mute, she could tap into the strength a bit and had been kicking away and jumping away from those that where getting too close…. and there was a lot of the attackers aiming for her. Or rather, who she was holding.

but one got a lucky hit in and she’s down and kosma is Gone. Kliff takes a moment to gloat from a nearby balcony, and a moment is all Nova needs when he sees is little Galaxy crying from the red haired man’s arms.

The first thing to go is the light, despite everyone seeing and feeling the sun high in the sky, its dark, then gravity starts getting wonky and they see DJ grow and stretch and stretch and stretch until he’s around the size - or maybe even Taller!- than white diamonds normal form

The Orb is cracking and with it a new effect on the gravity is placed, DJ’s allies and gently floated away to a safer area while various kliff goons are crushed into the ground or rapidly rising up into the air to pulmit down.

the ground turns into replica planets that start to bash around the area trapping kliff from escape.

the roaring everyone was hearing was in fact DJ’s enraged shouting  as he folds over and Down to face kliff whose also frozen in horror - the cracks on the Orb-head seem to form an empty void of a snarl.

Kosma is one of the few not effected by his appearance happily reaching out with shrieks of “papa!” and patting the dome.

In seemingly an instant DJ was back to normal, snatching his daughter out of Kliff’s arms and cradling her close. Neon running to them as soon as Dj’s powers finally let them move form the area he put them in, collapsing beside his husband and their daughter, their family forming around them as well.

Kliff Got away again as everyone reorientated themselves as gravity was restored to normal and the others got over the shock of the glimpse of DJ’s monstrous form.

In a later meeting all tatiana does is smile and sigh, “the more music you make and consume in our world, the more it powers your personal mutations, DJ Subatomic Supernova was born like how he normally is in front of all of you, he rarely if ever truly cuts lose with his powers are they warp and twist space to his will, the only exception he’s ever held to that is children being harmed. doubly so if its his own. however there is a cost to this, its likely he’ll be on bedrest for the next week or two for how he used his power yesterday.”

(I’m not really happy with the ending but here you go!) _____________ Kosma and Flurry sharing a birthday is such a big-brain moment and I love that idea.

Charactober 2020 - Day 22 - Your OC as an air/water/earth/firebender. Mikael and Ryo from Chronicles of Khâlid: Wartime. These two are benders in his own story, Ryo is an Air Monk who can't see a girl in his life and Mikael is an alchemist but he can control the fire too. It was fun to dressed them like an airbender and firebender. Mikael would be an important noble of the fire nation, of course xD 

Charactober 2020 - Day 23 - Your OC with the main inspiration for their creation. She's Yanis Heartbreaker, from Chronicles of Khâlid. I drawed her like an illustration of Oscar François de Jarjayes, from Lady Oscar.  She is tough, strong and beautiful. Feminine like a rose and lethal like a thorn. She likes to wear comfortable but with style. Her hair is light pink (Utena's inspiration) and she lost her left eye on a battle, so she has now a bionic one.

Charactober 2020 - Day 24 - Your OCs having a pijama party. Sharaen & Mimi asked me to draw the Khâlid Ship Boys for this entry. These guys are part of the main crew of the Skyfly, a flying ship from Chronicles of Khâlid. Xavier is reading on his bed, while Brendan and Kaylan are talking about the adventures of the day (Brendan is taking notes on his diary). Robin and Sirius won the card game and beat Sylvan and Kliff, who was not agree with the results. And he is right. Probably, Sirius was cheating the card game xDD

Charactober 2020 - Day 28 - Your OC dressed up for Halloween. October 28th was the birthday of my dear friend @neiara29 that's the reason I chose my character Leonor instead of other OCs. She is one of her favourites and I decided to dressed up her like one of Neiara's cute witches. I love how she draw the outfits for her characters  Happy Birthday Nei!!Leonor is from Chronicles of Khâlid. She is the mother of Robin and a tough fighter. 

Charactober 2020 - Day 29 - The OC you are ashamed of I'd like to introduce you to Makoto, my first (and only) Mary Sue xD I created her when I was on high school and she was a character for a Fushigi Yugi fanfic. Makoto was a Seiryu star and a friend of all Suzaku stars, specially Tasuki, who at the end of the fic, has a romantic relationship with her. It could be worse, but you know now why I'm very ashamed of her xDD I tried to recreate the style of Yuu Watase for this pic. 

Charactober 2020 - Day 30 - Your OC's Biggest Fear. Ramiel doesn't know what was his biggest fear, until he was attacked by a monster and left him near death. His doctor, Dalila, said that she couldn't save his legs. Ramiel has to be on a wheelchair forever. Out of the Hospital, in a desperate night, Ram hurt himself to try to feel something in his legs. ;___;Ramiel Pendhrelion is a character from Chronicles of Khâlid: Days of the Future.

Putting this under a cut since there’s a fair amount of shipping-related negativity regarding some of the canonical ships of Fire Emblem Echoes, and I’d rather avoid causing unnecessary drama in the tag. (Seriously, the only canonical ships where both characters survive past the game I can say I have positive feelings towards are Mathilda x Clive and Zeke x Tatiana. Maybe give this a skip if you don’t want to see negativity directed towards your ship.)

Does… does anyone else come away from those character endings feeling really frustrated?

In general, it’s just… It’s hard to put in words. There’s a sense with the Valentian female characters that for most of them, the only happy ending possible was through marriage, like they couldn’t possibly have found self-actualization elsewhere (Though I’ll point out that marriage sure doesn’t sound like it was a happy ending for one of them). Silque found fulfillment through healing the wounded of Valentia, but the rest of them all got married, with the exception of Sonya, who is remarked to have been rumored to have become a witch.

And also in general, with a lot of the characters who are stated or implied to have gotten married, it’s all really unnecessary? Except as a desperate waving of a flag reading “Oh, yeah, these guys were definitely straight. Definitely, definitely straight.” Like Genny’s mystery husband (which just got a blank “…what” from me, because the fact that she wouldn’t let anyone meet the hubby was baffling and a bit of a red flag), and Saber getting married, and Kliff’s completely unnecessary kid, and Delthea getting married to an unnamed noble husband, which wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t in the context of nearly all the other female characters defaulting to “and, of course, she got married, because that’s what a woman does.” (And also her sealing away her magic powers. Just… why. Whhhyyyy. Yeah, I know she made noises about having expectations put on her by her magic being annoying, but she seemed to be really stoked about being “awesome” with magic, and you know if she was a male character the summation of her arc would have been her coming to terms with the responsibility that comes with her abilities, not “Welp, I’m going to dodge all of that by nerfing myself so I don’t ever have to accept the responsibility that comes with my heritage.”)

And yeah, you could make the argument that this doesn’t necessarily signal that they were meant to be canonically straight, but you know that’s what the writers meant by this. Like, for the established couples, like Alm and Celica, Mathilda and Clive, Zeke and Tatiana, mentioning marriage and a happy life together makes sense, but they couldn’t have kept things open-ended for the rest? Couldn’t have talked about their lives in the future without slotting them into neat little heterosexual boxes?

Beyond that, there’s just the fact that some of the canonical ships and some of the things related to them just give me a bad feeling inside.

Alm x Celica… The best I can say about it is that it’s blandly okay. It did absolutely nothing for me and was thoroughly unconvincing, but they’re cute together? I guess? It irritates me that like with Azura in Revelation, the fact that Celica might have a legitimate claim to the throne of Valentia is completely ignored and, at best, she rules as Queen Consort, rather than as Queen Regnant.

Mae x Boey… Oof, that trope of “oh, this couple is constantly arguing with each other and this is a sign of True Love, not that they have serious issues in their relationship and/or they’re just not compatible with one another on a basic level” grates on me so much.

I like Mathilda x Clive, but I like considerably less the idea that she just hung up her armor after marrying him and became a happy homemaker. That. Makes. No. Sense. For. Her. Character. And you know Clive wouldn’t try to force her to, and even if it was society’s expectation of her, if Mathilda had the support of her beloved husband, her reaction is basically going to be “Fuck society. I’ll continue being a warrior if I want.”

Everything about Gray and Clair’s interactions and the post-game details of their “relationship” left such a vile taste in my mouth. First, the charming starting point of Gray implying that if they rescue Clair, she’ll be so grateful she’ll practically throw herself into the arms of one of her rescuers and be his prize, which, as a certain Disney princess once reminded us, is really not okay.

Then, there’s the fact that Clair had Gray completely dead to rights about every last bit of his behavior towards her in the B support, only for all of that to be completely discounted in the A support because her tone was a bit snippy?! And then for her to do a complete 180 and be basically “Oh, forget my legitimate complaints about your jerkish, slightly creepy behavior; I only said those things because I was annoyed over something else and I was just taking it out on you; I actually kind of like your never, ever leaving me alone, no matter how many times I tell you to?” Excuse me?!

And then there’s the postgame details that all but outright states that the only reason Clair married Gray was because he wouldn’t stop pestering her until she said yes. How romantic. What a truly moving love story.

But as bad as the Gray x Clair ending is, it cannot surpass Faye’s ending for pure, concentrated Do Not Want.

Just. What the hell.

I didn’t expect a 100% happy ending for Faye, since she’s in love with someone who categorically does not return her feelings, and she’s strongly implied to have developed PTSD in a society where mental health care most likely amounts to nil. But I had expected that there would be at least the slightest ray of hope in her ending. Faye’s ending of returning to Ram Village alone, never, ever getting over Alm, marrying someone she doesn’t love out of what sounds like sheer loneliness, and then regularly disappearing for days at a time with no explanation, worrying her family, does not provide even the dimmest ray of hope.

You could have had Faye joining the One Kingdom’s knighthood and, even if she doesn’t ever get over Alm, at least find fulfillment in her work and being with her friends. You could have had a Cleric Faye do like Silque and go traveling the continent healing the wounded, and finding fulfillment in that. You could have had her canonical ending, except changing it to her eventually getting over Alm and her new husband trying to support her through her untreated PTSD. There are so many other things the writers could have done with Faye.

But they gave us this instead. They gave us a Faye whose destiny was to be left in the dust by all of her friends, to be the only one who doesn’t move on to bigger and better things, to be left by the wayside by a story that has left her behind. And while that may be something that happens often enough in real life, this is a story. And yeah, while someone being left in the dust by their friends might be realistic, so too is dying of dysentery or smallpox in a medieval setting such as this one, and yet we generally don’t regard such things as effective storytelling.

Faye deserved better than to be consigned to the fate of being the one left in the dust, without so much as the dimmest ray of hope that maybe things will get better for her in the future. Faye deserved better than this.

S-Support Wallpapers: Style 2

You can download the Photoshop file for this style here! All the layers, effects, and backgrounds are already ready for you to use and play around with. I would assume you know the basics of how to navigate the program, but I’ll try to take it slow if you’re still new to Photoshop.

NOTE: I made this using Photoshop CS6! It should still open with the other versions (??), but you might have to adjust when following the tutorial.

Style 2, Type A

Ah yes. Everyone’s most favorite because of how cute and romantic it looks. But it’s the most troublesome to edit XD Prepare your artistic skills because you’ll need it for Type A!

To start off, you’ll need the portrait art and the special attack art of your characters for this wallpaper style. To place your files into Photoshop, go to File>Place>then find where your images are> Place.

Put the portrait artworks into the “Original 1″ group folder, and the attack art into “Original 2″ group folder. I would recommend duplicating those folders before you do anything with them in case you mess up and need to restart.

We’ll be working with the portraits first for Type A, so let’s go to the “Original 1″ group folder. Place your character images in between the layers named “Rectangle 1 copy” and “Flower 2″. 

Select both character images and resize them together (CTRL+T). It’s easier if you resize them together because they’ll look even that way. It’ll look a bit off if one head is bigger than the other. My preference is to put the characters either knee-up or thigh-up. Sometimes I go waist-up, but I don’t zoom in any closer than that because they’ll take up a lot of space in the wallpaper. It’s always good to have a little bit of space.

Don’t worry about the height of the characters. Using the arrow keys, you can nudge the image up and down after you’re satisfied with the size. No one will know that one character’s feet passes the other.

For deciding on which character goes in front of who, it depends on how they’re posed. Be mindful if they’re carrying weapons too. If they are carrying weapons, you can flip the character image (Go to Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal), or you can edit it out, as seen with my Laslow/Peri wallpaper above. I had to remove Peri’s lance because it was both blocking Laslow and because it doesn’t match the romantic vibe. But more on how to do that later in the tutorial.

Now that you got your characters positioned how you want, it’s time to do the facial edits! If you’re using original characters that came from Heroes, then you won’t have to worry too much about facial edits, since they already have some. You can combine different facial expressions to make a new one. I’ll also explain how to do this a later in the tutorial.

To start the editing, make a bunch of new layers above the characters images, like so. For a minimum, start with 3. You can always add more if you need. And don’t worry about how many to make. At the end, you’ll merge them so there won’t be a clutter.

You’ll make use of the Eyedropper tool (I), the Brush tool (B), and the Eraser tool (E) a lot for this process.

Don’t worry about what kind of brush to use. No need to be fancy and download brushes. I just use the default round brush that Photoshop has. How you set your brush settings will depend on you and the style of your character’s artist. Be sure to keep using the Eyedropper tool from the artist’s original art, and change brush settings when necessary.

Before you even start drawing, have an expression in mind. I want Faye to look like ^v^. So to do this, I have to cover up her art with her skin color first. Use the layer directly above the character image layer for the skin cover-up (this would be layer 8 for Faye, and layer 3 for Kliff). Using those three tools above, this is how I cleaned up Faye’s face.

If your artist uses a blending style of painting, you can either change the hardness of your brush to 0%, or use the Blur or Smudge tool to blend. Keep in mind that I’m only using the default round brush. If you already have a brush that can do the job, then go ahead and use it.

After the cover-up layer looks good, use the layers above that one to draw in your expression. Make sure to deeply analyze the artist’s style beforehand in order to copy it. Small details like outlines, shading style, and use of shapes really make a difference. Turn the skin layer on and off if need be in order to see the original art below and copy it. And don’t forget to zoom out once in a while to see how your drawing looks from afar!

I can’t tell you how exactly to do this, I’m afraid. So good luck to you on this step. Take all the time you need to draw your expression. Try not to worry about making it exactly authentic!

Here’s how my expression turned out.

And after that, just add the blushies! Yeah, Faye is already blushing, but you gotta exaggerate! For the extra cute effect! For this part, I make sure to put the settings for both the Brush tool and the Eraser tool at 0% hardness, and make the sizes of those tools big.

To start off, brush a huge streak of a red or pink color down on the cheek area. Then using the eraser with very soft edges, erase around the edges of that streak to get the look that you want. I do not recommend pressing and holding down as you erase! Use single clicks! That way you have more control over how the blush looks. You can even lower the opacity of the blush layer to not have it be so prominent on the face.

Erase the blush areas that go past the cheek, like in the hair. You can change the eraser hardness back to 100% for this. If the blush is on the ears, that’s fine. It’s natural for the ears to also get red when someone blushes.

Select all the layers you made for your character and press CTRL+E to merge them. BUT ONLY DO THIS WHEN YOU’RE SURE YOU’RE SATISFIED WITH THE LOOK!

And now Faye’s done! Her change was pretty simple. Just closing her eyes and adding more blush. But what if there’s more to edit? Like changing the eyebrows (there’s a lot of scowling Heroes out there), or changing where the character is looking? Or what about their mouth!? Well, I’ll go over a bit of that with Kliff. 

Start similarly to how I made Faye. Make the skin cover-up layer, and then draw what you need to. For eyebrow changes and for the mouth, you just draw on it. You don’t have to make a big change with the mouth. Just erase bits of the corners, and then draw an extension of the mouth to make the character smile, or smirk, depending on their personality. You’d have to draw a completely new mouth if you wanna give them a huge smile. Keep the artist’s art style in mind if you’re going to do that.

For changing where a character is looking, you’d need to use the Clone Stamp Tool (S), in addition to the previous three tools we’ve been using. And you’d have to rasterize the image of your character before you can use the Clone Stamp tool on it. To do this, select the layer your character image is on, right click, and then click on “Rasterize Layer”. Now you can use the Clone Stamp tool on it.

Cover up the irises on a layer. It can be the same one you used for the skin cover-up layer, or use a new one. Now that you rasterized the image, you can draw on that image now, so make sure that you don’t do that!

Once you’re done covering up the irises, go back to the character image and select that layer. Then use the Clone Stamp tool. To start cloning, hold down Alt. Your mouse will change into a circle with a cross in the middle. As you’re holding down Alt, click on where you want the cloning to start; in this case, it is the iris. Pick either one.

And then go select an unused layer. Click anywhere on the canvas to put down the clone of the eye. The Clone Stamp tool will work like a brush tool, duplicating the character image.

This is how mine looks. I even named my layers to help make sense for you (hopefully you can read it?).

And yes, my new eye is not where it’s supposed to be. You can move around the layer after taking out the bits that are not the iris. Don’t worry if the iris no longer fits the sclera. Either erase, or make a new layer and draw the missing pieces. Now do this again for the other eye.

And ta-dah! Now add the blushies, and you’re done. 

Like in my last tutorial, you can add the Exposure adjustment the character images using the clipping mask in order to make the character look more cohesive. I did this for Kliff, but left Faye alone.

Lastly, the background. “Layer 2″ is the gradient layer for the background color. Select the Gradient tool (G), For the first color, find the very first layer of this file named “Clair”. There, you’ll find Clair (lol XD). I like to use her hair color for the first color. The second color is your choice, and then move the location of that second color to 50%. Then just play around with the gradient until you’re satisfied with how it flows. Make sure the yellow is on top. Or not, you don’t have to use Clair’s hair.

And you’re done with Type A!

Now going back to what I said before. How do you take out a weapon?

There’s a safer way to erase something, and that’s using the layer mask. I used this tool to take out Peri’s lance, and also for other things.

Look at the bottom of the layers panel. Find the icon of a white rectangle with a hole on it. Select the layer you want to start erasing, and then click on that icon.

Your selected layer should look like in the image above after you click on the layer mask icon. To “erase”, make sure you’re using the color black as you’re brushing away what you don’t want, and use the color white if you want to bring something back.

If you want to have the characters look like they’re intertwining instead of just putting one in front of the other, duplicate the characters, and then use the layer mask on the top version of that character. As seen in the picture above, there’s another Laslow layer below the Peri layer. This is how I made parts of Laslow and Peri go in front of the other, without having to cover the other completely. 

If you want to do this, it is best to make the facial edits first, and then use the layer mask. 

And lastly, how do you combine facial expressions of a Heroes OC to make a new expression?

First, find all the expressions you want to combine, and place them in the layers. Once you have what you want, select all of the expressions and resize them together. It’s important to resize them together. If you move them, you also move them together. Order the expressions based on the parts of the face you need. When you have the size that you want, use the layer mask on all of the images except the bottom expression. Then just “erase” the parts of the above layers to show parts from the layers below. This might take a bit to understand how to do.

Here’s an example of Alfonse from a request.

Add the blushies, and you have an awkward and embarrassed boy.

Style 2, Type B

Thankfully this one doesn’t take much explaining to do. Goodness, Type A had a lot to be explained oof.

Put the character images in between the layer named “Swirl 2 copy” and the hue/saturation adjustment layer. Then resize and arrange the characters how you want. Unlike Style 1, Type B from the last tutorial, I prefer to have the characters face the same way for this one. With all the special effects flying around, it’s really easy to make Type B look chaotic, but it’s our job to make it not look chaotic.

I like to add a Drop Shadow effect on the characters to make them pop a bit more from the background. To do this, double click on the layer, and a pop-up should appear. Select the “Drop Shadow” at the very bottom. Edit however you like. I prefer to keep all the settings the same except the color. I would change it to something other than black. And then add the Exposure adjustment if need be. Make sure you clip the adjustment layer to the character layer, or else it would affect everything below that.

Once you’re done, select the layer named “Layer 1″, and then create a gradient that you want on that layer. The base I made has 3 colors, but you can also use more or less than that. Don’t forget to play around with the layer modes to see which version can best create the look that you want.

And that’s how you make Style 2! This was a very long tutorial, and great job for sticking to the end! I hope that tutorial was understandable? I understand if you got lost though... Type A was a doozy. My ask box and DMs are always open if you have any questions.

I am amazed on how you review our lessons, how you memorize every detail, every word in the book. You even correct us if we forgot a single word, sometimes it is just a linking verb. I wish I could that, too.

Tattao,Katreena. I admire you for being strong and keep on moving. I know it’s hard being a president, doing all major work. Stress is painted on your face but you still give us your sweet smile. Stay being sweet and don’t change.

Salt 2: Tharja

Rant under the read more.

Oh Tharja. How I hate thee. Let me count the ways. I was ready to do a rant upon this character back during the Enduring Love gauntlet after she won, the only character to take two wins after multiple gauntlets and prove that people absolutely enjoy psychopaths more then they love to admit. And I mean... I like psychopathic characters to a degree as well. I’m just more aware that if half of these characters I like were real, they would deserve to die in horrible, painful manners. But Tharja... Tharja doesn’t click with me. I don’t find her entertaining. Still, I decided not to do the rant then because I figured it would prove nothing. She took her second win and surely wouldn’t be in another gauntlet for a while, right?

Well now we have Winter Vs. New Years. And since as with any gauntlets they do internal eliminations first, we already have a million people predicting that the final match will come down to Winter!Tharja vs. NewYears!Camilla. And needless to say, while I am loathe to admit it, I do understand the anger and frustration that comes from the fact that the reason these two characters are so popular has less to do with personality and more to do with their physical assets. Because a lot of people who play this game consist of two groups, those groups being prepubescent straight men and prepubescent lesbians who see big tits and immediately rate that character high because “daaaaaaaaaaaaaaayum!” Meanwhile Faye from Shadows of Valentia has a similar personality with a more modest character design, yet notice how many people despise her because she isn’t built like a supermodel. A good number of these people who hate also like Tharja and/or Camilla. You wanna talk about double standards?

Now to be fair I know there are reasons to like Tharja. I like Camilla. And Faye, while cute, doesn’t get a lot of writing outside of her obsession for Alm. But if I had to take any of these girls in real life, it would definitely be Faye because she’s not ready to murder Celica for her man. That being said, though, why do I hate Tharja personally? I like Camilla. I like Henry. I even like Peri. It doesn’t get more problematic then Xander’s literal problematic servant. What’s my beef with Tharja?

Well for starters her personality doesn’t appeal to me. Tharja is dark and broody. She intentionally acts this way because she doesn’t care for social contact and because she feels it is the way a harbinger of death, destruction, and doom is meant to act, heavily contrasted with her fellow Dark Mage in Awakening in Henry whom is upbeat, cheerful, and has a bad joke or pun at the ready even while committing horrible acts of atrocity. Both are morally bankrupt as far as ethics go, but who sounds like the more entertaining character out of the two? Camilla may be as obsessive as Tharja, but she’s also got more charm in her unbridled and unquestionable love for her family as well as her adoration for children and animals. Tharja’s just kinda... dull to me. She’s either dull or scheming. All of her good acts feel forced because it doesn’t seem like the character she is. It’s similar to Peri’s support with Odin. Most of her supports involve her being heavily problematic and being scolded for her practical murder fetish, yet when Odin does it, she’s apparently leading a group designed to rehabilitate the disorderly such as her. I love Peri for being more entertaining, but she’s a psychotic bratty womanchild! Where the fuck did that come from?! But for Tharja, that’s nearly every support she has. The only one where you could see her being that nice is with her stalker crush Robin. Speaking of which...

My second gripe is that it’s never explained why exactly she’s obsessed with Robin. Nor is there any real way to headcanon it either. I once posited it might have something to do with Grima, but was then reminded that Tharja is willing to destroy Grima for Robin, meaning she cares for the man more then the dragon. So why is that so? I don’t know. Nobody does. Compare that to her expy in Fates, Rhajat. Corrin saves Rhajat when she’s a little girl from a life-ending experience. Then they save her again during the Faceless rampage. Rhajat was already smitten the first time, but the second time around sealed her obsession for Corrin. Camilla’s obsession? As she explains in her support with Niles (another popular character whom I despise, go figure), she saw Corrin as a scared, lonely child who now had the entire world against them as a Hoshidan in Nohr. During the Concubine Wars, she was a living weapon against her half-siblings, unloved by her own mother and hunted by her other family until the bloodshed ended and she was able to live peacefully with Xander, Leo, and Elise. She doesn’t want Corrin to feel as alone as she did and so she utterly smothers them with affection. She knows that her other three siblings can handle themselves since they also lived through those bloody times, but Corrin is this sweet, naive person who can’t even murder Hoshidan prisoners on King Garon’s orders. Clearly they need more affection and more time to grow in Camilla’s eyes. Faye doesn’t have as much writing either, but there’s at least enough to headcanon why she’s obsessed with Alm. She might’ve had a regular old crush on Alm as a child, but then Slayde comes to Ram Village ready to kill Kliff, Gray, and Tobin as well as her, though it’s implied in his dialogue and the dialogue of his men that she was also considered a target for rape! Because God knows the women can’t be spared in pre-Tellius Fire Emblem stories.That would naturally be a very traumatic experience that was delayed long enough for Mycen to come save them by Alm acting like this brave hero, charging out and punching Slayde in the face despite the fact that it would’ve cost both him and Celica dearly if Mycen didn’t show when he did. Psychologically speaking, Faye could very well see Alm as an anchoring point, something comforting to her now scarred psyche, and thus that dependency manifested itself into an obsessive desire that causes her to become more and more unhinged when she goes into battle alongside Alm and the others in the name of the Deliverance. But if I keep going on about how much I like Faye and how much I wish she’d gotten more development, we’ll lose the topic completely, so onto the final reason I hate Tharja.

You know what all of these characters I like do that Tharja doesn’t? They respect their children. Camilla loves children. Faye doesn’t have children as far as I know, but I imagine she would love them even if she does disappear for days on end because of that mangled psyche of her’s. Henry and Peri both end up surprisingly good parents despite their usual disturbing behavior. Even Niles, whom I stated above I do not like, is a good father... well as good as a Fates parent can be. Tharja, however? Tharja openly experiments with magic on her daughter. And here’s the thing. We’re not counting the Tharja in the future who went mad with grief and started experimenting on Noire to “make her stronger” or whatever. In Noire’s support with her father, she’s come down with a runny nose and it’s Tharja who cursed her with it. Progressing further reveals that he tried to get her to undo the hex only for her to move it to him as well. Noire gets upset because that was how it was even in the future and thus it seemed to her that nothing was changing, so by their A-Support, her father goes balls to the wall and takes all of Tharja’s cursing implements, which makes Tharja chase him around violently and this... lifts Noire’s spirits because it’s different. I’ve seen people try to defend this by saying “it’ll make Noire stronger,” but that is often used as an excuse by abusers to defend what they do to their children in real life. It hits too close to home and I find it absolutely disgusting that this is used by some of her fans to excuse her actions. A few others have mentioned it should be taken as goofy, but again this is a character who seemingly values tradition over mischief. I doubt that she meant her anger to be taken as if in jest. So as far as I’m concerned, she did it because she knew she could, because she knew Noire had taken it before, and because she figured Noire made an easy guinea pig, making her a shitty mother and a disgusting human being.

I can forgive a psychotic personality in fiction. I can forgive obsessiveness. I can forgive violence, especially since I can be quite an aggressive person myself. I can forgive a lot of things in fiction as long as the characters are entertaining. I don’t expect to make people like Peri or Camilla if they hate them. If either of those two were real, I imagine the former would need to be put to death immediately and the latter put in a psyche ward at least if not put to death as well. But Tharja isn’t just dull, uninteresting, and morally bankrupt. She also represents how disgusting some people will get in order to defend her. You can tell me how disgusting I am for liking Peri because “I’m woobifying a serial murderer,” even though I haven’t called her anything short of disturbed and monstrous, but I won’t try to turn around and convince you that it’s not her fault since her father raised her to kill people and encouraged her as a child to murder her butlers and maids since it made her happy. He should be put to death too, sure, but Peri is far too broken to realistically save and only Fates’ stock writing could even hope to try. I’m not gonna tell you to dislike Tharja if you’re reading this and like her. I only hope you have proper reasons to like her whilst accepting that she isn’t a hero, she isn’t a nice person, and she isn’t morally just in her actions.

Or you could like her because she has big tits, I guess. Seems to be the go-to reason for Tharja/Camilla fans.

PROLOGUE: Cinnamon Recovery

a prologue to me and @pupmon1‘s Fire Emblem Heroes fic Stardate: 2689

Warnings: Obsession, dysphoria, smoking weed

additional note: some of this is kinda borrowed from my own eperiences being trans and having a (way less unhealthy) crush that amounted to nothing, though the person i had a crush on was a straight girl.

A WHILE AGO, 2688

It was just temporary, Faye told herself as she exited the shuttle onto the outpost. Just a temporary assignment, maybe a month. Maybe not even that. Her beloved Alm would come around soon, she was sure of it. She had done so much for him! Sacrificed so much for him. He had to love her...

Next to her, Silque was still worrying. Faye had been dangerously obsessed with Alm...so much so that she had neglected herself, her hobbies, her family...she had even put off her own transition after she heard Alm say offhand that he liked men more... to say that Silque was concerned was an understatement.

And the others in Alm’s group had apparently agreed with Silque. They agreed to assign Faye to a position far away from Alm...a place where she could recover and maybe pick up less self-destructive habits. Celica’s outpost. Clair had also been sent.

As they exited the shuttle, Celica was there to greet them. “Hello! I’m glad to see our new recruits. Welcome to the outpost. I’m running it until my actual assignment is ready.”

“We’re happy to be of help,” Silque said. “Alm told us about you, said something about knowing each other a long time ago.”

Celica nodded. “Yes, we knew each other. Dated a little.” Celica glanced away. “Then we...found each other...and broke it off. Also he was a bit of a...well...he’s unobservant as hell...”

“...he is not...” Faye muttered petulantly.

Celica stopped and glanced at Faye. “...are you...Faye?” she asked carefully, glancing at her pad. “That’s the right name, right?”

“Yes, correct.” Faye looked up at her. Celica looked...well, to put it bluntly, pretty. But...Silque did too...so she was totally still straight. Completely normal for a straight girl to think that her commanding officer or her closest friend is really cute...

Celica smiled kindly. “Please, correct any mistakes made by myself or my staff. I...remember Alm talking about his friends, but you didn’t go by Faye then. I may slip up, I apologize if I do.”

“It’s okay...” Faye said shyly. “I...don’t mind...”

“Alright,” Celica said with a smile. Then she lifted her head and called out. “Saber! Show these crewmen to their quarters!” Then she lowered her voice. “I hope you don’t mind bunking together.”

“...I suppose...” Faye said.

“Oh, that would be wonderful,” Silque said with a smile. “Will Clair be staying elsewhere?

“Yes. She’ll be with...oh! The whitewings!” Celica smiled when she looked at her pad. “Good luck...they’re molting…”

“I’ll manage,” Clair said.

Celica chuckled nervously. “You will wake up with feathers everywhere…” She stopped as a large man with an eyepatch walked up.

“Hello, I am your deputy. Get used to taking orders from me. Now let’s go.”

Faye and Silque nodded. But, as the others followed Saber, Celica grabbed Silque’s arm.

“Wait a moment…” she said softly. “I want to talk to you alone…” She watched the others walk away, then sighed. “I’ve been informed this isn’t a regular reassignment.”

Silque sighed. “Faye has had an...obsession with Alm for a while. Lately it’s gotten worse. She’s...stopped taking her hormones, sleeping irregularly, stalking him for hours on end, not eating to look pretty for him...he finds it very creepy and I’m concerned for her as a friend so...”

Celica paused, then her shoulders dropped. “She didn’t take the revelation that he’s...gay...well...did she?”

“...that’s why she stopped taking the hormones...” Silque said. “And she...cried...for about a week...”

Celica sighed and closed her eyes. “Alright...I’ll do what I can to keep her busy….” Celica scrolled through her pad and nodded. “I think I’ll set her with...Mae. I think she could use a friend like her. Is there anything else you would suggest? You know her best...beyond Kliff…”

“...keep an eye on her. Make sure she doesn’t do anything drastic...and maybe try and make sure she’s eating regularly. I try to help her with that but she doesn’t always listen to me.”

“Alright. I’ll make sure Mae knows.” Celica stopped and smiled. “Mae is one of those people...ya know...great for picking someone up…” Celica shook the lazy smile off her face. “Alright! With that settled, you should get going back to the group.”

“She sounds fun. And yes, let’s.”

“Hey new roomies!!” Mae said as Faye and Silque entered her room. Mae darted up to Silque. “Ooo, you’re pretty.” Then her gaze flicked to Faye. “And cute!”

“Mae...stop…” Genny mumbled from her bunk.

“Thank you,” Silque said, blushing.

Faye looked away awkwardly and mumbled, “...I’m not gay...”

“It wouldn’t matter…” Genny muttered. “Mae is Mae.”

Mae put her three-fingered hands on her hips and spun around to face her friend. “Hey, can’t a girl pay someone an compliment?”

Oh no, Faye thought as she stared at Mae. She’s hot... “I...suppose so...sure...”

Mae smiled and nodded. “See? She gets it.”

Silque nodded. “Yes, definitely.”

Mae smiled and suddenly spun around and hugged Silque and Faye. “They understand me. I know we’re going to be the best of friends!”

She smells like strawberries… Faye thought.

Mae slid into the seat beside Faye, lonely Faye in the corner, and noticed she was just moving her mash around with her spork.

“Hey Faye. It looks like you haven’t eaten anything...is something wrong?” Mae asked softly.

“...Alm hasn’t replied to any of my messages...” Faye said.

“I’m sure he’s just busy, you know how higher-ups can get.” Mae batted at the air. “All ‘I have no time for fun stuff, I have to serious all the time’ and what not. It even gets to Celica sometimes. Just give him time.”

“It’s been like...a week...” Faye sighed. “I knew it...he doesn’t care about me...”

Mae frowned and poked Faye’s nose. “Hey, don’t be such a negative nelly. Just...give him some time…he might be on a big mission to save Valm again...or something.”

“...that’s the excuse he’s used six times already...” Faye pouted. “Last time he was just on vacation...”

Mae squirmed and pulled away, deflating and ducking her head down. “...please be happy…” she muttered. “...I...I don’t know what to say...but I want you to be happy…”

Faye looked at her quizzically and attempted to smile. “I uh...do you...do you have an actual kitchen on this station?”

Mae suddenly popped up and smiled. “Yep!”

“Good...cooking...cooking helps..”

Mae nodded and popped to her feet, taking Faye’s hand. “Come on, follow me! It’s in the officer’s mess.”

“Sounds good,” Faye said, standing up.

Mae smiled and pulled Faye to the officer’s mess. Saber looked up from his table with a frown, but a wave from Celica silenced him before he could complain about the two going into the kitchen.

“Here it is! An actual kitchen!” Mae said, twirling a little. “And a replicator that will make any raw ingredient you want!”

Faye’s eyes almost lit up. “Oooo, this is great! I’ll get started right away...”

“One...one moment...I need to….” Mae crept over to the replicator, glancing at the officers eating before punching something in. A strange green leaf and blue fruit appeared and she darted to the corner with it. She squeezed out the center of the blue fruit onto the green leaf, rolling it into a smoke and lighting it.

“S-sorry…” she stuttered. “I need something to block it all out for a bit…”

“Block what out?”

“I’m…” she shivered and looked down. “I’m...an empath…” Mae looked away, waiting for Faye to send her away...most do.

“Huh.” Faye said. “That’s interesting...what’s that like?”

Mae was surprised by the question, and hesitated to take a draw. “Well...it’s...hard. I feel everything around me….especially when people aren’t happy. I want to help people be happy...for a purely selfish reason...so...I guess that’s bad of me…”

“Doesn’t really sound that bad to me,” Faye said. “I’m...not really that much of a selfless person...but...I guess wanting to make others happy is a good goal.”

“Even...even if it’s so I don’t have to feel their pain?” Mae asked timidly.

“Yeah. Yeah, I guess.” Faye smiled. “Now ah...lemme try and remember the recipe...” She walked over to the replicators. “...hmm...warm milk, salted butter, salt, flour, granulated sugar, cinnamon...” She trailed off, listing ingredients.

Mae peered over Faye’s shoulder. “What are you making?”

“Cinnamon rolls,” Faye responded.

“Ooo~ Those sound good! Gargoyle loves cinnamon rolls!”

“Who- oh, right, your bug thing.”

Mae smiled as a little bug fluttered out of her shirt and landed on her head. “He helps me focus.”

“He’s...cute,” Faye said. “Can I pet him?”

Mae nodded and held out her hand, Gargoyle fluttering down to her palm. He looked up at Faye and wiggled his antene.

Faye gently stroked him with her finger. “Good lil bug.”

Mae smiled as Gargoyle nuzzled Faye’s hand. “He wants you to be happy too.”

Faye cooed. “You’re both adorable...I mean uh. He is. You’re...wait...uh..well I mean you’re ...cute but like...I...” she stuttered.

Mae chuckled and took a draw before speaking in a low voice. “It blocks my empathy...but not that much, cutie. I know what you mean to say.”

“N-no I don’t! I’m not-” The replicator dinged and Faye turned around. “Oh, my ingredients! E-excuse me...”

Mae sighed and watched Faye move around her, running to prepare her treat. “...there’s nothing wrong with what you are…” she muttered to herself. She let out a long sigh and leaned on the wall, putting her smoke in her mouth.

Silque sidled up to her and leaned on the wall. “...she’s always denied it...still, it’s...it’s nice seeing her cook again.”

“Ah! Medic!” Mae scrambled to hide the smoke that she technically wasn’t supposed to have.

“...I saw nothing.” Silque said with a slight grin.

Mae squirmed and looked down. “Don’t tell the captain…” she whispered.

“Okay. Is it bad for you? I’m not used to treating your species...”

“It...can be...addictive…” she muttered, taking a quick draw before hiding it behind her back. “...not feeling is...nice...but Celica doesn’t want me to be addicted to something...she’s afraid I’ll hurt myself…”

“She seems very nice,” Silque said. “And I can tell she cares a lot about you...are you two together?”

“Much to Saber’s disdain.” Mae giggle and grinned at Silque. “But...we’re not exclusive, if you’re wondering.”

Silque blushed. “I ah...don’t know how to respond to that...other than you could do a lot better than me...

“But you’re cute and beautiful,” Mae said with a smile. “And I can sense that you’re a good person. Good and kind and...worried about your friend.”

Silque blushed even more, then looked wistfully over at Faye. “...still...if i’m in a relationship...I’d want to bring Faye in...” She looked down.

Mae grinned and chuckled. “Gimme some time with ‘er. Empaths are really good at bringing out people’s true emotions.”

“That would be really nice,” Silque said. “...she’s already happier than I’ve seen her in months...”

“Then good! I’m doing my job right!” Mae bounced a little, sticking her smoke in her mouth. “I’m...gonna relax while she cooks...tell me if Celica is coming…” she said once she stopped moving, lowering her head and breathing in the sweet smoke as she closed her eyes.

“Alright.” Silque sighed. “...she’s quite nice...and beautiful.”

Mae hummed out an agreement and blew out some grey blue smoke. “...yeah...she is…”

A few weeks later, and Faye was...depressed doesn’t begin to describe it. Celica had received news that Alm had finally asked Gray out. She hadn’t meant for this news to reach Faye but...of course it had... and Faye hadn’t been eating, hadn’t been sleeping, hadn’t been taking her medication, hadn’t left her room since.

Silque had been very quietly panicking about it ever since. Faye had made so much progress...and now with one piece of news the whole domino set of recovery had been knocked down. Even Mae was getting worried and nervous, trying to help but not able to. Neither had been sleeping well, so when Faye suddenly got up and entered the bathroom, they woke up.

Faye flipped on the light and rubbed her eyes, turning to the mirror. She scratched her face, twitching at the stubble that scratched at her skin. She stared at the mirror and let out a long sigh. She looked like...him again.

“Maybe...Alm would like him...” she muttered to herself. “Maybe if...if I went back to being him...Alm would...would like me…”

She looked down...and felt a hand on her shoulder, and Silque’s soft, wavering voice in her ear. “Please don’t, Faye. Please. You’ve...you’ve improved so much recently, don’t throw yourself away like this.”

Faye sighed and closed her eyes. “...what does...it matter…” she muttered softly.

Two arms wrapped around her waist. “...he doesn’t make you happy…” Mae muttered, nuzzling into her back, her antena tickling her neck. “You deserve to be happy…”

“...I...” Faye looked back up at herself in the mirror. Mae and Silque were both...almost cuddling her...this was the most affection she’d received in her entire life.

Faye burst into tears. “...I...I just...great Mila, I don’t deserve you two...”

“Love isn’t something you deserve…” Mae muttered. “It’s something that comes, and you can accept it or not.”

“...I...” Oh, what was the point of denying it anymore? She’d felt this way for a while, and just buried it under more misplaced obsession for Alm. “...I-I’ll accept it...”

Mae smiled and nuzzled Faye. “...I knew you would eventually…” she said softly. Then she pulled away, taking Faye’s hand and leading her to sit on the toilet.

Silque inched over and smiled. “You mind if we… at the risk of sounding irritatingly cliched, give you a makeover?”

Mae’s atene twitched. “You deserve to feel comfortable and pretty.”

Faye hesitated before nodding. “Y-yeah...thanks…”

Mae smiled and hugged Faye. “We’ll take care of you, Faye.”

Mae then grabbed a razor as Silque started to deal with Faye’s hair.

“There we go…” Mae muttered as she pulled away.

“...wow...” Faye said, looking in the mirror. “I look...I...”

“You look beautiful,” Silque said.

Faye smiled and nodded a little. “I-I...thank you,” she muttered softly. “Thank you both of you.”

Mae nodded and took her hand. “Let’s...go lay down together.”

Faye blushed and smiled. “...yeah, that...that sounds really fantastic.”

Mae nodded and led Faye back into the bedroom, letting Silque flick off the light as she laid down on the bed, pulling Faye beside her. She nuzzled into Faye’s chest. “You’re...so warm now…”

Faye was blushing immensely. “I-if I’m making you uncomfortable I can go...”

Mae raised her gaze and her eyes narrowed. Her antennae twitched, flicking Faye on the nose. “No, you silly girl. Move and I’ll hit you with my antenna again.”

Faye giggled. “O-ok.” She snuggled closer to Mae and felt Silque nuzzle in from her back. “...this is...really nice.”

Mae smiled and closed her eyes. “...you’re so warm...I can see you with my eyes shut…” Mae nuzzled closer. “...it’s nice…”

“...I’ve actually...uh...dreamed about this for...for a while,” Silque said nervously.

Mae’s antennae twitched, one barely visible over Faye’s head. “...I can see you too...heheh…”

“...I assume that’s a good thing,” Silque said.

“Feels good,” Faye said with a little hum.

Mae nodded and sighed softly. “Yeah...it does...it’s so good…” she muttered. “Let’s get some...good long sleep...we can tell Celica in the morning.”

“...ya...” Faye murmured as she drifted off to sleep.

Celica paused in her working, hearing a very familiar sound. She turned around and held out her arms, grunting as Mae suddenly jumped into a hug.

“Ah! Hello Mae! You must be feeling better if you’re jumping around the place,” Celica said with a smile, lightly blowing on Mae’s antenna.

“Faye’s cooking again. And eating, and shaving, and taking her hormones, and...” Mae paused. “...and, uh, me and her and Silque slept together last night.”

“Wait, human slept together, or your slept together?” Celica asked carefully, knowing that means two completely different things.

“...both?”

Celica sighed and dropped her shoulders, setting Mae down. “I mean...physical um...pleasure...or emotional?”

“Oh ya. Emotional.”

Celica patted Mae’s head. “Ah, okay, your slept together. I’m glad for you three then.”

“They uh...said they wanted to...to share it with you, too...”

“I’d love that,” Silque said, coming out of the kitchen with an omelette and a cinnamon roll. “Faye’s cooking extra well today,” she added with a smile.

Celica smiled and nodded. “I’m glad she’s happy...and I’d love to share.” There was a pause before she glanced at Mae. “Well...if you’re going to join us, you should know about this.”

Mae noticed the grin on Celica’s face and she backed away. “N-no, don’t you da-” she was cut off when Celica reached up and gently rubbed one of her antena, her expression melting into one of dreamy happiness.

“Oh so that’s what that does,” Silque said.

“I call it her ‘relax’ switch,” Celica said with a smile. “It’s better than her smoking her powers away. And sometimes you just need her to be quiet for a little while,” she added quietly.

Mae shook her head as Celica pulled away. “Is it possible to both love and hate an action?”

“Oh definitely,” Silque said with a grimace, thinking about all the times a while ago when Faye would just...rant about Alm for hours. It was sweet to hear her talk...but still. Overall that whole experience was just sad.

“Well...I love you stroking my antenna...I hate when you do it when I’m standing…” Mae grumbled, crossing her arms. Then she sniffed the air and smiled. “...something smells really good~”

Faye walked out of the kitchen, wearing an apron and oven mitts and carrying a huge platter of cinnamon rolls. She smiled at Mae, Silque, and Celica. “I made some muffins too. I just feel like...this is good. Cooking helps...”

“Cook all the things!” Mae exclaimed with a smile. “We will eat it!”

“Hey hey hey! Don’t make promises the human metabolism can’t keep,” Celica said with a laugh.

“Well I can keep it! Cook all the things if it makes you happy.”

“Well, everyone else here can have some too, of course. And thanks, I...I think I will.” Faye grinned and set the platter down on a table. The moment it hit the table, a pink haired girl with white wings flittered over and smiled. “Cinnamon rolls!” she exclaimed before grabbing a plate full of them before darting over to her sisters, leaving feathers in her wake.

Mae frowned and wafted the air to keep the feathers away from the cinnamon rolls. “Stupid white wings and their molting feathers.”

Celica chuckled. “They can’t help it.”

Delthea snuck up behind them and put four cinnamon rolls on her plate before sneaking back to the table, muttering, “...wish Maria were here...”

Mae smiled and waved at her. “Hope you like those cinnamon rolls, Delthea!” she called out. Delthea jumped and glared at her, muttering, “...thought I was sneakier than that.”

Mae frowned and crossed her arms. Celica grabbed a plate, placed three cinnamon rolls on the plate, then took Mae’s hand. She led her to a table, and rubbed her antena, letting her relax and lean on her. Celica smiled and fed Mae as she massaged her antena.

Silque and Faye sat down to either side of them, both with plates full of cinnamon rolls. Faye was eating somewhat more hungrily than usual; like she was making up for the days recently when she hadn’t been eating. Silque was eating hers with tiny delicate bites with a spork and knife.

Faye poked Celica’s cheek. “You got a bit of icing on your face,” she said..then leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. “There, I got it...I can’t believe I did that oh gosh...”

Celica giggled and leaned in, kissing Faye on the nose. “You’re so cute, Faye.”

Faye blushed, accentuating her freckles. “I...thanks, Celica..you’re way cuter than me, all three of you are.”

Celica and Slique glanced at each other and chuckled. “We disagree, Faye,” they said together.

Mae simply closed her eyes and sighed contently. “...I can see you…all of you...” She reached out and pulled all of them into a big hug.

“I guess that’s your way of saying you love us?” Silque guessed with a giggle.

Mae just nodded.

Faye grinned and sighed. “...gods, I’m happier than I’ve been in a long, long time.”

Silque smiled and nuzzled Faye gently. “Good...that’s all I’ve ever wanted.”

Faye - What Could’ve Been

Oh, Faye. When she first appeared on Alm’s cipher card, in the background, many people were pleased, but skeptical; While it was great that the idea of having more girls in Shadows Of Valentia (especially in a cast as short in women as fe2′s), many thought that her characterization wouldn’t be that great, and that she would be reduced to another female character with less personality than a piece of cardboard (at most, she would be another childhood friend stereotype). I myself got hopeful due to loving her design to death, and I thought that maybe, just maybe, she would become a very fun character.

...Well, at least she still has a very cute design. Let’s try to make her better, shall we?

First, let’s see what we’ve got:

We got another Catria Archetype (Funny, since Catria is in the very same game). Not only she has no personality other than being in love with Alm, but she’s pretty much a terrible person towards other girls (She mistreats Silque badly, who only wanted to chat with her for she was feeling lonely due to the fact that there were very few girls in Alm’s party.), and she is a really creepy girl as well (She feels happy by watching Alm eat, for fucks sake), and in her ending she marries another guy STILL hopelessly pining for Alm, and is constantly dissappearing, making her family worry.

In other words, she’s the unholy fusion of Cordelia and Tharja. Holy momma.

Let’s begin fixing what made her such a bad character; her obsession with Alm. Sure, she is his childhood friend and yada yada, but maybe she shouldn’t be all that obsessed with him. I mean, she grew up with 3 more kids (4, if you count Celica before she went away), so her crush on him would be more hidden due to all of them being a group of such good friends. Being one of the oldest kids, she would constantly take charge of the group, and she’d be strongheaded as fuck. (and it would make sense, considering her good stats.)

During the first part of the game, she tries to talk with Alm several times, but due to the fact that it’s only the two of them alone, she gets incredibly awkward about talking to the one guy she spent her childhood in love with, and not with their loud group of friends, so she never makes any actual progress on their relationship.

However, as their adventure goes on, she starts to question whether she should tell Alm about how she truly feels about him now before he meets someone else (That could be triggered by Clair joining the team, who also has a crush on Alm, although a much more healthier one than the actual Faye) or just leave it be due to the long time they’ve spent as just friends and not wanting to ruin that friendship; due to that dilemma, she becomes more and more moody. Tobin, Gray and Kliff try to understand what happened to her, but since she closes herself up in shame, they can’t reach her properly like they used to.

And that’s where Silque comes in.

At first, Silque approached her before Faye started asking herself what would she do about Alm, and they became fast friends since there were very few girls around their age in the army. However, once Faye started worrying about her feelings for Alm, she also blocks Silque away from her heart. Silque, worrying about her new friend, attempts more and more to understand why her dear friend suddenly became so quiet and irritated, until Faye unleashes all her frustrations on the poor nun, scaring her and making her cry. Faye immediately regrets what she had done, but Silque stopped searching for her, making Faye even more sad.

She gets worse by the time their army first meets Celica during her first reunion with Alm, the one whom Alm could not stop talking about, the one friend of her that went away and suddenly came back only to take away the one person Faye ever felt anything for. She gets terribly jealous, her frustrations grow and she becomes more serious and severe as the game progresses.

However, her unrequited love on Alm would not go unnoticed, due to the long stares and sighs she would constantly give towards him, and during the time they first meet Celica’s army Delthea, of all people, approaches Faye and introduces her to someone she just met, whom reminded her of Faye. Someone very similar to her.

And that’s when she first meets Leon, whom she identifies with and starts writing letters to, seeking for advice, after the armies separated once more.

(This would be a very nice comparison towards how Zofia and Rigel could be very alike, and how they could bond as one, as a reference for the union of Valentia. Maybe that’s why while I got so frustrated with Faye, my appreciation for Leon only grew; they had the same problem, but each of them handled their problems differently.)

Leon, however, do not sugarcoat his words to Faye; Due to the fact that he’s in Celica’s army, he’s fully aware of how she’s fond of Alm, and he���s sure that Faye got no chance with the guy. However, he fully encourages Faye to confess her feelings to Alm and move on, since she’d have nothing to lose.

So Faye, in a moment of bravery, confesses her love to Alm, and obviously gets rejected, since he loves Celica. Faye indeed cries and suffers a lot, however, that only lasts shortly, and she starts feeling much better than before; with no more dilemmas in her life, she starts feeling like herself for the first time since a long ago, when they first left Ram village. She slowly but successfuly reajusts her bonds with her old friends Kliff, Gray and Tobin, leaving her with one more person to bond with once more; Silque.

Now, Faye found herself having trouble talking to Silque, since the last time she interacted with Silque left the poor girl crying and leaving her life. She wants everything to be the same as it was before their fight, but she starts feeling more, yearning for more, though she does not know what else does she wants from Silque. Confused, Faye writes to Leon about this new emotion towards Silque, and she receives a reply claiming that she was now falling for Silque.

Faye panics, afraid of falling in love once more; She already got rejected by Alm, she would not handle being rejected once more. Unsure of what to do, Faye starts pining on Silque, wondering how she did not figure out this affection for the nun before. Silque however, is very attentive, and notices how Faye suddenly started to stare at her out of nowhere, and after a long time deciding if she would call Faye out for this or not, she decides to finally attempt to reach out for her once more.

And thats when Faye finally cracks and confesses to Silque everything that happened to her since she left Ram Village (And apologizes for her behavior towards her), including her feelings for her.

And Silque, finally understanding Faye, kindly forgives her and accepts her feelings. And Faye is happy.

After everything was over, Faye goes to Rigel with Silque and marries her, being a supportive wife to her dearest Silque, who helps to tend the wounded. She would constantly write to the king, her old friends from Ram Village, and Leon, who became a great friend of her’s along the way.

And she would be happy.

Faye defence squad !! {{ Please do not read on if you dislike Faye or believe she should be “fixed.” }}

I see a lot of people saying that Faye needs to be “fixed” or even that “Faye needs to be gay.” First off, saying Faye needs to be gay is extremely disrespectful to those who are heterosexual, bi-sexual e.t.c. If someone said Tracer from Overwatch (canonically a lesbian) should be heterosexual there would be an outrage. Faye is canonically into men, she might also be into women, it is never shown and mine is heterosexual by preference. However, whether Faye is bi-sexual, heterosexual e.t.c it does not matter. The one sexuality she canonically isn’t, is a lesbian. 

She is NOT a lesbian, and nothing you say or do changes that. Respect canon sexuality it is never acceptable to alter someone’s sexuality to an AU just because you think it’d be “cuter” or “Hotter” or “Better”, that is disgusting and hateful behaviour. 

Onto her romantic feelings for Alm. I find this actually a complimenting feature once you dive into it. Lets analyse her childhood, she was the closest child to Mycen {despite Alm} as shown when her quotes state she was trained by the best. She is not used to women {which will be explained later}, and like most children she gained a crush. By the time she is eighteen, her crush became love. Fans say Faye should have moved on, I ask you, to who? There is no one in the village beyond the “Ram Group”, who are all close friends. Kliff? Tobin? Gray? And Alm. There is no one. 

And the “yandere” jokes are silly, she is not a yandere. For one, she is completely sane of mine. For two, she has no dislike towards Celica, she can even join Celica should Alm not recruit her and she even opens up to Celica about feeling lonely. And finally, when Alm rejects her politely she accepts this, asks if she can keep her feelings for him until the end of the journey and then they separate.  I agree it’s lame she returns to Ram village, gets married and is always gone. However, her husband is canonically OK with her loving Alm and canonically OK with her vanishing, he just worries. They should have given her a better ending, but that does not lessen her as a character. And, some people in real life never truly move on from their first love, Faye is over-all very realistic. Yes, the stalking minor aspect and willing to crush everyone for Alm, but again, Tharja. Also it’s nice that Faye likes Alm because he’s Alm, there’s no “oh he inspired me” or “oh he saved my life”, she just loves Alm as he is. She respected Alm throughout the journey, supported Alm, protected him and vice versa and Alm admits she is special to him but not romantically and Alm is shown to worry about Faye.

Sometimes it seems if they’re a “sexual” female or a “hot” male they get less hate. Tharja is worse than Faye in the “romance/stalker” aspect, who I also like. Berkut is extremely domineering with his lover in Echoes and he gets no hate for it. And, Berkut is a lot rougher about it than Faye is.   Let us also note that Faye upon Silque attempting to become closer to her is likely not comfortable around women she is unfamiliar with. Faye has no awkward tendencies towards Lukas, this is logical because she is used to males. She grew up with them. What Faye is not used to, is women. Faye was cold towards Silque because she was uncomfortable, and we all have our safe zones and boundaries. Silque kept attempting, despite Faye being uncomfortable. Silque should have stopped and waited until Faye approached her, they are both females, not used to other females. So both were equally awkward, Faye apologises and Silque I presume realised Faye needed time. Neither of them were “bad characters” for it. They were human.

And finally, Faye is a badass, I have her as a Cleric and putting her with Kliff they kick ass and are powerful characters. Ironically, my Faye is one of my most powerful units. She is definitely no damsel in distress, yes Slayde originally wanted to kidnap her in the prologue and then chose Celica as the main goal. However, Slayde wanted Faye and Celica which much have been terrifying. Keep in mind Celica, Alm, Faye, and the other kids were all damsels as they were children. 

She’s a powerful, independent and cute woman whose very attractive with a violent streak but also a very affectionate streak. She cares for others, as well as Alm but yes he is her main focus. But her deep love for Alm and loyalty, does not alter everything else great about her. There are tons of popular characters way more extreme than her, Yuno is an example. Faye is very moderate, even minor in that regard. Also, I HC her as an orphan as she never mentions family, no female role models and even in her canon ending it says family worries but it likely means her husband and kids it’s unlikely to be hers. Or, she has a father but no mother. There are a ton of potential reasons that she is so attached to those from Ram Village.

Faye is a good character, she shouldn’t be ignored just because her clothes aren’t super sexy or because she’s not a hot male or a lesbian. She’s not created to be fantasied over !!

Faye

Character: 3/10, I was mostly insulted by Instsys going “here is a female character to balance Alm’s sausage party early game!” and then handing us a piece of set-dressing obsessed with the male protagonist. That was just awful, and the fact that she is more “wholesome” than other obsessive characters in FE doesn’t make her better in the slightest. The only thing she has going for her is a very cute design.

Unit: 6/10: depends on what you reclass her to. Made her a Peg Knight, and she had a pretty good early game but dropped off later. Maybe I should have made her a cleric. *shrug*

Mathilda

Character: 7/10, appreciate a strong female cav, who has some authority to go around (and gets admired for it too). Too bad her only moment of story-relevance is spend in captivity and her ending made zero sense for the character.

Unit: 8/10, really good and durable cav, that was useful throughout. My Cav!Kliff actually ended up better than her, but she was very useful regardless.

Clair

Character: 8/10, she reminded me a lot of Maribelle who I love. I appreciated how she would chime in on important conversations and never let herself be backed into a corner. Her relationship with Grey was also poignant and good.

Unit: 6/10, like Faye, she was very decent in the early game but had problems later on. She was just a tad less strong and a tad more gragile than Faye, but at least able to tank magic better. So there is that. Definitly has her uses.
