@biolover9 <3 eeeehehehehe - @lambpaca and I have talked about this. Like, even outside of the parameters of Shadow and Amy getting together. This is just general conversation.
I've mentioned this a bit about it before on the sideblog, but I just... never could see Shadow ever wanting biological children. Truthfully, I don't think he could have them even if he wanted to, not without a massive amount of medical intervention.
Like... if you're making the ultimate weapon, the ultimate life form, why would you ever give it the ability to make more of itself? That lessens your control over it and runs the risk of causing your enemies to get their hands on a weapon of their own. You don't want that.
(I'm saying 'it' because like... that's how GUN viewed Shadow. 'It'. Even Gerald viewed Shadow as 'it' in the end in his diary. What Shadow wanted didn't matter to them. )
Beyond that though, I can see Shadow looking at their own biology and not wanting anyone else to have to endure it. Especially working off of the idea that they're still young and all the ramifications of genetic testing and mutation on them haven't really come to fruition yet (looking at you, 'immortality'). Why would he be selfish enough to pass a potential curse like that along?
That's not to say Shadow doesn't like kids. We've seen them be extraordinarily patient with characters like Cream, Tails, and Charmy both in-game and outside of game. I think for them to want kids though, they'd need to have certain needs met. They'd need to be free from GUN, they'd need to feel safe, they'd need to make a lot of peace with themselves and grow as a person. Essentially, they'd have to go through hell and then also a lot of soul-searching before reaching the conclusion of, 'I want to be a parent.'
But Amy? Oh without question, I think Amy wants kids. Doesn't matter if they're hers or someone else's. I've joked about her having a vision binder listing out three kids and names and everything. Amy also has been shown to want a domestic future after she's defeating Eggman. She wants to enjoy the peace and the every-day magic of just existing to exist. I think a lot of people agree that Amy would want kids to be a part of that domestic bliss.
Personally? I think there's also this idea that kids are hope for a future. Amy has spent her entire childhood fighting. There's no way to get that time back, no way to undo that which she has seen and had to experience. She forced herself to grow up quickly in order to protect both herself and the world. Amy wouldn't have kids unless she felt safe enough to do so.
I also think Vanilla being Amy's main parental figure that we see in almost every iteration of the Sonic franchise helps. Vanilla is, by all accounts, a loving, kind parent. That would have made a positive impact on Amy not only in regards to who she becomes as a person, but also, her own expectations on what being a parent entails. Seeing someone who wants to be a parent, who likes being a parent, who likes their kids (both their biological kids and the ones they pick up like a wet cat off the street), that means something, you know?
All the Sonic Gang solidify that family is what you make it, family is a choice, but Vanilla shows that parenthood is also a choice, and one that can be done with joy.
How does Gigi factor into this? Well, I kinda touch on it in The Home You Make, and then I show it in Late Evening Talks, but effectively- Amy and Shadow both make each other feel safe, they help the other grow, they help the other be their best selves, and in the moments they struggle, they're there for one another. This creates an environment for the two of them that allows them to entertain and discuss the notion of being parents. Without question, I can see them covering it before they even really start dating. Shadow in particular, not wanting to mislead Amy, would make his stance/circumstances abundantly clear, but now, fully committed and comfortable with one another in a way they were not previously, the subject would come up again not as a nebulous 'well maybe' but as a 'are we gonna do this?'
And they decide, 'yes.'
They'd take the adoption process slow, looking. They’re not really looking for a hedgehog- the species doesn’t matter. It’s the kid that does. I don’t even think the two of them really know what they’re looking for when they start. I mean, how do you put parameters around this sort of thing? Ultimately, Gigi wins them over. She’s funny, she’s creative, she’s sweet even if she’s a hellion, she’s protective, she gets into fights- she’s them. They see her in them. They get this kid. The child care staff warn them about her being 'stubborn and standoffish,' and overall ‘difficult to work with’. That pisses Shadow and Amy off royally. Not like that's unfamiliar territory- they’ve been this kid, frankly. When they meet Gigi, they’re smitten, and frankly, them coming from a place of understanding with her helps her warm up to them. When they fully decide to go for Gigi, they take the process slow, letting her get to know them, letting her decide if their home is the place she wants to be.
And she decides, 'yes.'

Do you think that Sonic still sees Tails as a little brother or a hero? Asking because of recent interactions in movies and games seem to paint him as the “bro friend dad” tupe
Tumblr media
Hi Hon!❤️✨
I’d say that Sonic views Tails as both his brother and an aspiring hero. There may be times where Sonic’s is a bit over-protective of Tails, but he values and trusts him wholeheartedly. Sonic knows that Tails is his own individual that is in his progressive stages of becoming the person that he’s always wanted to be.
When you love someone—and I mean really, really love someone—you don’t see one version of them. Oh, no! You have the privilege and honor of seeing every single version of that individual throughout their life. You have the opportunity of watching them grow up and invent the person that they’ve aspired to be. You’ve watched them from the very beginning, to the struggles they’ve endured, to the exciting turning point in life that project their paths further. You get to see them grow up in ways that you’ve never imagined before and stare at awe as they continue their journey through life. You are special enough to be apart of that journey and adventure in that person’s Becoming. I can speak with that perspective in mind because, like Sonic, I am the older sibling in my family.
Sonic and Tails are brothers in spirit, absolutely. They’re family. However, they recognize each other as their own person. Sonic’s an old soul that has grown up tremendously. He’s got some experience and wisdom under his belt that he shares with others. Tails is in the process of his where he’s in an environment that helps him grow more. And because Tails’ adventures of growing up are unique, Sonic has the privilege of also growing up some as well.
At least… this is how I interpret them both.

You ever think about how extremely traumatic the first two arcs of the Archie reboot would've been for all the characters?
They're just living their normal lives, when one day Sonic starts babbling about a completely different history where most of them were in extremely dire straits, and starts using Nicole to overwrite their extant memories with those of the previous universe.
Like, imagine being Sally in that situation. You come home from a dangerous but routine mission to find all your friends acting like you've just come back from the dead. They hand you your computer and suddenly your mind is filled with memories of a much different world to this one, a much darker and more painful one, filled with death and constant betrayal. Your last memories are now filled with weeks of watching your mechanised, vivisected body mindlessly serve your nemesis, and try to kill your friends and family. You were (probably) awake when Eggman carved you up with a blowtorch, while monologuing creepily about how smart you are, right before he crammed a cannon in where your brain should be. You almost died because Eggman designed your new form so badly that you ran out of power on your first mission as his pawn, only to be 'saved' by someone who loved you, and now doesn't exist.
But it's not just that. That would be bad enough. You also remember that this other version of you had a living mother. A mother who loved her and supported her and tried to be there for her. Yours has been dead since you were a child. You're still a child, but you've never felt less like one than you do right now. You had a brother too. He had a wife and a daughter, you had a niece and and a sister-in-law. They're gone. In fact, they're not just gone. They never existed. You have memories of people that never existed. All your friends apparently do. These other versions of them all had families. Here, they're all orphans, except for Rotor, who now remembers a world where his father wasn't an abusive bastard that serves Eggman out of some warped sense of social darwinism, something he can never have in this one.
On the other hand, your father, whom you know as a kind, generous, and reasonable man, was in this other world a controlling, emotionally abusive asshole, a major factor in a massive mental breakdown you endured and struggled with for months on end.
And then shortly afterwards, these memories begin to fade. Maybe you're okay with forgetting Mecha Sally. Maybe you're okay with forgetting that Nigel was ever Maximilian. But now you're also forgetting Alicia and Elias and Megan and Alexis, people who only existed in your memory. You won't remember how many people Eggman killed with the Super Genesis Wave. There will never be justice for them, and in a few short days, you won't even remember their names.

Sonic and Nine - Close friends under the worst circumstances
After my actual close watch of Sonic Prime, I can say one of the biggest strengths it has is the brotherhood between Sonic and Nine.
Tumblr media
They both love each other. Even the villains comment on how much Nine admires Sonic at one point. But they're also both dealing with their own issues that make it harder for them to actually see each other properly. There's some projection going on and they also met under the worst circumstances possible.
Both invite the other to their ideal world and have joyful visions of all the things their world can offer the other to make them happy.
Tumblr media
Nine offers Sonic a paradise where he can give him anything he wants. In his time alone, he doesn't make things for himself but builds things Sonic described he knew he'd love. But this would also mean Sonic abandoning everyone else and leaving his old world behind.
Sonic doesn't just want to free Nine from a tyrannical society and give him a single friend, he wants Nine to be surrounded by an entire community that'll love and protect him. Sonic wants to give Nine a life of freedom where he can feel safe. That would also mean Nine having to display more vulnerability toward others than he's willing to show, not to mention the reasonable belief that it may not even be possible. They want to give each other everything.
Both have a communication breakdown largely due to them both also navigating their own problems and grief.
Nine is largely characterized by the suffering he's endured his whole life. In addition to being assaulted by bullies for years to the point of hiding his physical appearance, he's lived his life under a tyrant in a dystopian city with no hope of things changing, no community, no loved ones--nothing.
But then this blue dork falls into his life. There's someone willing to protect him, put their trust in him, someone who relies on him and make him feel needed, and shows him fun, love, gentleness, and patience. Nine resigned himself to a life of solitude even though he clearly doesn't want it.
Tumblr media
He clearly enjoys the attention and love his new brother gives him and the show provides so many instances of his unbridled happiness. It's unfortunate in that Sonic is figuring out the properties of the new worlds in real time. For all he knew this was "Tails who just lost his memories" or some kind of time travel deal.
He is projecting to a degree, but in time he also gradually comes to see them as separate even as that concept blurs throughout most of the show.
When Sonic first arrived in the New world, he's panicked at the fact that Eggman seemingly took over the world and is searching for Tails to get answers.
Imagine reaching out to one of your friends because you're scared and need answers only to find an emotionally vulnerable child in desperate need of your help instead. Worse, you don't even realize until much later that this isn't your friend who lost their memory, they're an entirely separate person.
Sonic sharing those memories with Nine wasn't done maliciously, but they were never Nine's. They communicate this emotional gap being just a little bridged purely through facial expressions. Sonic is lost in thought trying to figure out his situation, sees Nine with a look showing his vulnerability, then shifts gears to give him attention and assurance.
Tumblr media
It's honestly tragic how a heartwarming scene is made painful to look back on by factors beyond their control that also shows how they already started off on the wrong foot through no fault of their own.
When Sonic learns the full gravity of the situation with their reality, he's so anxious we sit on a shot of him looking at his hands trembling.
Tumblr media
He's not in a great place himself which exacerbates how he's not the best when it comes to helping Nine. He misses his friends, isn't entirely certain they can even be brought back. And he caused it...yeah.
On top of that, it's easy to forget that Sonic and Nine had barely any time to freely communicate without a crisis over their heads. It's easy to say they needed to communicate better (which is true), but they had next to no time to properly do it.
They meet in the first episode which is also one of the only moments in the entire show they get to talk face to face without something urgent pulling their attention.
They then get abducted, seize the first shard, and get separated when Sonic is transported to the next verse. After that, when they reunite and have a moment to breathe during the conversation where Nine makes his offer to build them both their own world in episode 6, they don't communicate their feelings properly.
But Sonic just got pulled out of a fight for the New Yoke rebels lives and freedom where he inadvertently abandoned everyone he already was trying to establish trust with. Again.
After that, Nine is a prisoner for most of season 2 and can't safely communicate since he's under surveillance.
When they reunite, they're also trying to escape with the shards and not die. They're under attack for two full episodes. They don't really get any breathing room to lay out details or properly elaborate on how they feel. I like how the show uses the constant urgency to support why they don't just talk things out.
Tumblr media
They're emotionally hurting a lot for different reasons and finding immediate comfort in the other (Nine for finally having someone give him positive attention and Sonic for projecting his lost brother onto Nine and dealing with the larger guilt of losing his home and the broken reality he caused) while also genuinely caring for one another and I love that detail for such a simple story.
There are numerous instances where everyone tells Sonic that Nine can't be trusted and Sonic defends him every time. When Nine contacts him with a plan to stop Chaos Sonic, Sonic only hesitates to go through with it not because he doesn't trust Nine's intentions but because the plan involves luring a dangerous machine closer to Nine and can put him in danger.
Both Nine and Sonic have a major disagreement with someone (Eggman and Shadow respectively) defending and speaking highly of the other. Nine's more confident than he's ever looked when he talks about how Sonic is on an entirely different level than Eggman.
Tumblr media
Nine in particular is interesting because he's able to maintain his cover in playing prisoner pretty well until this moment. It's not being insulted himself or having someone accurately verbalize his deepest insecurities that makes him slip up, give away information and get caught warning Sonic. It's his affection for his brother that does him in, AKA the exact same pitfall Sonic fell into in the first episode.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Sonic does correctly identify that Nine needs a lot of intervention beyond being pulled out of this crappy city. He needs a community. Even if Nine got what he wanted--a paradise just for him and Sonic, he's not really healing a lot of those wounds he's lived with and while it'd take time, he'd get a lot of what he needs through Sonic's proposed world of living with him in Green Hill.
Sonic is genuinely trying to be the supportive brother that Nine desperately needs. The kid is hurting bad. But Sonic is also dealing with his own grief in the process and the two end up having a falling out in assuming what the other wanted and in being caught up in their own issues that they don't properly see how the other feels. He just sees Nine as "angsty Tails" and Shadow correctly points out that he's his own separate person.
Neither Sonic nor Nine are being malicious, but both of them are self-occupied and not engaging with the other.
Shadow is also only half right. He just believes Nine to be inherently untrustworthy. While he can see easily that Nine has a different desire from them, he doesn't engage with how Sonic couldn't have collected the shards without Nine and also the other shatterverse people helping him, right down to not being able to even touch the shards or run properly without Nine's help.
Shadow hasn't watched Nine show vulnerability, talk about how he was bullied and beaten, stick out his neck to help Sonic, manipulate the Chaos Council to keep Sonic as safe as possible, and all the other selfless things he's done.
But that also exists with Nine leaving others to die and only caring about himself and now Sonic.
I never really got why people were so up in arms or upset that Nine's betrayal was "obvious" when it was never designed as a shocking twist. Nine isn't trying to deceive anyone about what he wants. He feels violated that the only love he's ever felt seemingly was always meant for someone else.
Even something as simple as Nine having a chance to see Sonic earnestly defend him like Sonic has toward Shadow and the Rebels (all of whom had good reasons to distrust Nine) would have gone a long way in showing Nine that Sonic does genuinely love him even if he's partially projecting. I hope S3 helps show Nine that Sonic is hurting too and that he's only been looking at his own hurt.
The animators do a great job at conveying key moments through the sheer amount of expression they depict. You can practically feel the rush running up Nine's back from Sonic showing him gratitude.
It's the little details like his ears, chest, eyes, face and posture. Nine reacts positively to Sonic thanking him for his help and emphasizing what a great team they make.
Nine's ears perk up as Sonic's words sink in, he takes a quick breath and his chest sticks out a bit because of it, his shoulders roll and his posture straightens in response to being complimented. His eyes sharpen a bit and he grins from Sonic's gratitude.
It really conveys how this isn't someone used to being treated so nicely letting every kind word pour into him. The entire previous plan was them both showing the extent of their abilities to make an ultra-efficient team.
Tumblr media
Nine picks up several of Sonic's mannerisms over the course of the series, and whether he's realized it or not, Sonic has changed him a lot.
During the fight with Chaos Sonic, we see a moment where Nine's insecurities are all called out by Eggman and he tries to cover it up. He shows nothing but remorse of the fact that he was manipulated into helping them create something that'd hurt his new friend.
The first thing he does when they reunite is apologize to Sonic. He looks away and doesn't make eye contact with Sonic while he's apologizing but goes back to it every other time, as if he can barely even look him in the eye with how badly he feels he screwed up. This also illustrates that Nine is capable of self-reflection even if he's not willing to be vulnerable or admit things to himself yet.
Tumblr media
But then he sees that not only did Sonic not blame him, the thought of Nine betraying him doesn't even cross his mind. He immediately rejects anyone else suggesting it.
Both of them have the same thought: "He's definitely going to come around and see that my idea of what to do with the world is the best" and both of them are largely on auto-pilot getting through peril.
I feel Sonic Prime has a some things that hold it back a bit, but Sonic and Nine feel like the most powerful and "real" thing the show has to offer and I really enjoy it. You can truly love someone and be a big agent of change in their lives, but still hurt them because you're not perfect and still navigating your own hurt.
Season 3 will likely play into that because I don't see Nine as evil or having become a doomsday villain. Even in the bits of footage we've seen it's clear he's trying to convince himself that withdrawal and loneliness is all he can accept. When he says "we're all alone" he's not just saying it as some pushback to Sonic and Shadow--he's saying it to try and convince himself that he has to accept this.
Tumblr media
But at the same time he's not unfounded in seeing how much Sonic has been projecting an different person onto him which calls his affection for him into question. Both of them screwed up and a lot of that comes to them meeting under poor circumstances. But they do have a genuine bond despite that and I look forward to season 3 getting them to properly reconcile.
I think Sonic Prime has its share of issues like pacing and character choices that likely feel like a consequence of time and budget constraints that really show through in it. Rouge especially can feel like an afterthought.
A lot of times, particularly with even the show itself showing exhaustion toward the chaos council, it can feel very sluggish at times or like we're moving in circles narratively.
But it also has some very big strengths like how well several scenes can work because of how ridiculously expressive they are and all the little details with the cast's eyes and faces that communicate their feelings to the audience. It's also quite fun with a lot of the orbiting shots frame an animation standpoint that really shows in a lot of the fight scenes. They have a lot of fun with cinematography.
But above all of that, these two working out their differences and slowly bonding clumsily, imperfectly, but genuinely is one of the best things the series has going for it.
The only way to fix the rainbow colored paradox prism is to energize it with more rainbow energy. Sonic and Shadow will have to muster up all the gay energy they have to save reality

Thinking about the utter familial tragedy of Eggman and some of his mooks (AND Eggman himself).
Scratch and Grounder always try to do their best to appease Robotnik but always get screamed at and they don't like it all but they think that's how it's supposed to happen everytime no matter if they do something bad or good because that's how they were "raised" like and they don't know that people can like. actually get loved regularly.
Orbot and Cubot are in a similar situation but they KNOW why they don't like it and they would love some actual praise and attention sometime but if they ever actually got praised they wouldn't know what to do because that never happens to them.
Coconuts and Snively are in the very middle, but they're also complete opposites in that case.
Coconuts knows what he's enduring is bad and he HATES it, but he also would go through hell and back to appease Robotnik any way he can, because he's DESPERATE for attention, and it doesn't matter from who it comes from.
Snively hates living with his uncle and everything about what he lives and he wants to overthrow his uncle multiple times, but also... he lives to serve at that point, what will he do when nobody tells him what to do? Will he KNOW what to do? (Also, it's kinda implied in the Archie comics that Colin wasn't exactly the best father either).
And don't even let me get started on Metal Sonic, Mecha Mk. II, Belle, Mecha Robotnik, and all his other robot children.
Eggman himself is a complete mess. Game Eggman is already implied to not have the best childhood as his family seemingly paid more attention to Maria than to him. Boom! Eggman is strongly implied to have both mommy and daddy issues. Aosth! Robotnik is a whole mess himself, having a explicitly abusive mother to the point where you actually feel pity of him. Even Paramount! Eggman seemed to have a bad childhood as he was an orphan. Now, you all probably get it by now, Eggman had a shit childhood. What am I getting by this?
He's entranced in a cycle of abuse. Do you fucking get me. DO YOU FUCKING GET ME

Stolas Is Like Chris Thorndyke, Privilege Creator Pets Which The Narrative Tries So Hard To Feel Sorry For
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, Stolas is practically like the Chris Thorndyke of the series where he's a character who is given tons of focus due to their relationship to the main character, the narrative tries so damn hard to make us feel sorry for him but end up not caring due to how forced it is, and he's always shoved in places where he doesn't have to be.
Chris and Stolas are supposed to be the woobie due to be lonely rich people. The former because his parents arent around that much and Stolas because of his bad marriage to his wife and he was distant from his father. The problem with Chris is he had tons of people like his school mates, servants, and even freaking grandpa to make keep him company which makes him having distant parents seem just forced sympathy. The same thing with Stolas because his forced marriage and one dimensionally evil wife is just there to justify him cheating on his spouse, while also making treat his supposed love interest like a toy.
And again the focus, Chris is shoved everywhere that he takes up scenes originally made for other characters like Tails and Amy. The same thing with Stolas who practically has more episodes than fucking Millie does who is only shown as being Moxxie's wife and nothing else. They are basically the Poochies of the series.
And at the heart of it, they come off as immature brats who are overly obsessive over their supposed friend/love interest. Seriously, Chris risked the world being destroyed just because he wanted Sonic to say which made many people turn against him. The same thing with Stolas where people instead of thinking his so-called love for Blitzo is admirable think he's putting everything (including his daughter) for some imp he played with as a child. Their obsessions instead of enduring make them look like pathetic wimps who can't realize what is truly important in life or the situation.

So the newest trailer has had me in a headlock for about five days now, so... here's some word vomit.
Regarding the three new playable characters, it seems obvious that they're each going to be playable on separate islands.
A part of me wonders if this isn't what's going on behind the scenes when Amy, Knuckles, and Tails used the real superpower of teamwork to drive back the cyber corruption.
Tumblr media
So maybe they're actually navigating the islands, or maybe they're doing so through Sonic's memories as they piece him back together.
Most likely, they're simply on a hunt for the Chaos Emeralds, which are probably being held in the spherical red prisons they themselves were in originally. However, since Sonic's lost himself between different realities, I'd like to see them bring him back over time. Maybe it's him who's trapped this time.
Maybe Amy's goal is to remind Sonic of who he is, who they are, and that he's loved. Knuckles goes into battle with him, physically beating down some of the overwhelming foes/obstacles so that he has a space and means to recover. Tails helps shoulder his pain, ensuring that he doesn't have to endure it alone -- even converting the pain into power.
Honestly, all three of them are probably going to doing each of those things, but there could be an emphasis on each of these things depending on who's the focus at the time.
For example, if they're navigating Sonic's memories and/or cyber corruption, the worst of his corruption occurred at Chaos and Rhea Islands. So maybe Amy and Knuckles still interact with Cyber Space on Kronos and Ares, but Tails -- who is on Chaos Island -- gets the brunt of it.
Otherwise, there's another fun thing that probably better matches what the trailer and the overall game is trying to do is set up for their personal character development. Again, before the hand-holding thing, Tails briefly mentioned the visions they saw while imprisoned in Cyber Space, possibly implying that they could be used to drive back the corruption. In other words, they'd have to confront their own personal demons, which would also be cool to see. Especially if it emphasizes how it was Sonic who gave them the courage to do so when previously, they were (quite literally) trapped by these dark thoughts and fears.
Whatever they ultimately decide do, I'm excited to see it!

Luther x Sarah Headcanons because fuck it, they're cute together. because I ship them. One of two headcanons and universes where she dates Luther and a seperate universe headcanon, where she dates yours truly, Secret History Tails.
Sarah/Needlemouse Headcanons:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's start with Ms. Henderson, shall we? And her headcanon in this relationship with Luther. She's bisexual in this universe, so it works.
- To describe her in a relationship, it's YANDERE. Much like me. Heh. And clingy!
- She ABSOLUTELY will do anything, and I mean literally anything to get Luther to notice her. And to love her.
- In this canon, Sarah never meant to torture Luther. And only brought him to the Sega game realm, so they can reunite. Shocking right?
- Sarah loves Luther in every way possible.
- They were a couple when human! Polyamorous with Lily, Sarah knew Luther accidentally killed her. And immediately when she became Needlemouse, forgave him.
- Shocking twist, Sarah is Thomas' biological mother. As Luther is 28 and Sarah is 32. In this canon. She ABSOLUTELY loves her son, and would give the world to him.
- She is ALWAYS by Luther's side. You never see him without her, she often switches between her Needlemouse and Sarah forms. But she always loves Luther.
- Sarah worships Luther, and will literally dedicate her life to him. Whatever it is he wants, Sarah gets it done.
- Always interested in her beloved's topics.
- She's very interested in history, and often enjoys talking about it to Luther.
- She is definitely one to rub Luther's X across his chest. Liking the feeling of it.
- In order to redeem herself of her torture of Luther, Sarah began protecting him. She's aware that his death could happen again so she's protecting him.
- If she accidentally hurt Luther. She would NOT know what to do with herself.
- She cares deeply for Luther, who means so much to her. Like he was her best friend, she cared a lot for him when they were human.
- She is paranoid about Luther's mental health, and always has to check up on him. She worries she may be the cause of it. So Luther has to assure her, she isn't. Sarah also often is close to having slight anxiety or panic attacks. But calms down.
- If she cannot be around Luther at the very moment for whatever reason, she'll probably stalk him. Which, kind of reminds me of myself. Sarah feels relieved when stalking Luther, that way she knows Luther is ok, and he isn't hurt, or cheating on her with another girl. Although she knows him too loyal and faithful to do so.
- Whenever Luther feels guilt, and begins to have either a mental breakdown or existential moment. He often sobs. Sarah will hug him tight, assuring him it's going to be ok, she hums to him to soothe him. She often switches between human and her Sonic form. But prefers the latter. As it fits with Luther as Tails.
It often shows even evil has loved ones.
Luther Jamie Artwright Headcanon:
Tumblr media
Ah, Luther. Sarah's senpai! Maybe my older brother? 👀? Shall we begin. Because the canon gets wild.
Headcanon:
- Luther already has to go through the draining process of dating this absolute sadist, so he's often drained. And tired out of energy often. So Sarah has to check up on him constantly. If he slept well, how he's doing, if he's ok and if he took proper care of himself and maintaining an healthy diet.
- Mostly tired, like a lot. Because of how much energy he is drained of, from dating Sarah. Although it's not like Luther gives a shit. As he has suffered and endured worse. So being tired isn't the worst thing he suffered.
- Corny, but he's optimistic. And a very, bold and opportunistic person, willing to take risks for Sarah and Tom. Daring too. Apeshit also. But he's also somewhat careless.
- He's often one to try and keep telling himself that he never meant to kill Sarah.
- Luther is a extremely independent and bold person, but he's also a badass.
- He feels extreme guilt over Sarah's death. Blaming himself, and was close to committing suicide over it until Sarah rekindled their relationship.
- He's definitely the sort of one who cover Sarah with his cape. Picture it as a big blanket.
- He often is the one to make dinner, and is very gentle with Sarah and caring.
- Very loving and sweet, despite being a no joking guy.
- He often enjoys watching Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul or the Apprentice or Sopranos. Drags Sarah to watch it.
- Luther mostly has a protein diet, as mentioned. He is drained of a shit ton of energy from dating Sarah. So protein keeps his energy up. And he's not having the wind knocked out of him.
- Inherited slight insanity from the torture of Sarah (unintentionally).
- ALWAYS wants to spend time by Sarah and Thomas. Wanting it to feel like forever. Picture him as a family oriented man.
- If ever away from Sarah, and or Thomas. Luther would get shit done, fast as possible to be by his son's side. And his girlfriend's side. Since he loves them so much.
- Luther absolutely loves Sarah as much as she does with him, minus the yandere side.
- Sometimes, Luther does question the morality and the actions of what Sarah does. But still, nonetheless, he loves her.
- Luther has a slight Secret History Tails (me) part of him, where due to his slight insanity. The fox will murder ANYONE who tries flirting with Sarah. Luther's insanity is spawned from unintentional torture by Sarah. And much like Sarah, this little hypocrite will stalk her if he can't be around her for whatever reason.
- Luther does not love Michael, being only loyal and faithful to Sarah. He actually misses Lily, and tries his best to keep tabs.
It pays off the genuine love of the unexpected bond.

Part of "Endure" a zine centered around two original characters traveling through different video game-inspired worlds. As far as I know, it was structured so that the zine would follow a loose structure. Mine would be near the last third of the zine since it's the characters entering the final dungeon, which I based on Horizon Forbidden West.
I wanted to incorporate more west coast elements in my version, so instead of the typical cauldron doors, I had the entrance be under a building resembling the Aquarium of the Pacific! I also had to research local flora to add and the ones that stayed in the composition were the California poppies.
Seeing this is a Horizon-inspired background, the post-apocalyptic scenario is that there are now half robot half animal creatures roaming the earth, all from a disease that robotifies organic organisms. I took that part from Sonic the Hedgehog comic lore and incorporated that early badniks look into this eagle creature!
So here, Juno is making shock arrows for Sylvie, referencing the crafting system in these types of games, while Sylvie is using an old-fashioned recurve bow. This whole concept I was what I had in mind from the beginning.
The execution part of it was a mess tho 😅
It was definitely a learning process, but I think it gave me a better understanding of how I should tackle backgrounds from now on. They've always been a struggle for me, but I'd love to try this piece again and fix some things.
Hopefully you guys like it for what it was because this did take me a lot of time and a lot of trial and error. The actual zine never got published though and I still think this piece is worth sharing.

Writer ask game, let's go. 10, 19, 38, and 39 please c:<
Shit. Oh shit, oh fuck.
Okay yeah let's do this, Mushy.
10. Do you set yourself deadlines?
I mean I definitely used to. I've said before that I got my start in National Novel Writing in a Month, or NaNoWriMo, where you write 50k words in 30 days. The org has since proven itself to be less than reputable with its recent scandal, but I still stand by the belief that endurance sprints like that are a great way to get the muscle formed to write long-form projects. And you can just do it too, you don't need the backing of a semi-scammy nonprofit.
But now? Not really. I kind of set goals to keep work moving. I'll be like hope I finish editing by the end of this week. But I very rarely make it a hard deadline with actual...I don't know. Stakes? My brain don't work like that.
19. How do you keep yourself motivated?
I stand by the methodology of giving yourself a little reward after writing sessions, although at this point I space mine out more than I would suggest newer writers to. For me this is usually a fun drink or nice little baked good - I'm especially fond of what I refer to as a medium-fancy cake. Something with mousse. But it can be anything really.
Small breaks also help, although I am less good at keeping up with that. I actually haven't taken a full day off in like three weeks but shh don't tell anyone. I'm also very fond of reading over what I've already written and just enjoying it. Or reading books that relate to my character's interests - I'm reading a very interesting book on bird lore that I know Edgar from Songbird Elegies would love.
38. Weirdest story idea you’ve ever had
My weirdest play is probably Naked Lunch: The Musical, which follows a happy-go-lucky, classic musical lover who gets roped into adapting the essentially grindhouse experimental William S. Burroughs novel into a musical and goes a little insane in the process. He imagines himself befriending the ghost of William S. Burroughs, and the ghosts convinces him that to adapt his work properly he needs to do a lot of drugs and have a lot of gay sex, both of which go very poorly. I think Lin Manuel Miranda is mentioned as an unseen side character that my protagonist sees in the audience and threatens to beat up?
And my weirdest novel turned play is Bloodletting, which is based from a dream I had when I was detoxing off of weed - I was like addicted, not a casual stoner. I essentially dreamt that someone made me drink their blood and the blood got me high again, and from that point I developed a sort of sci-fi world where street drugs are so potent that they turn the blood of addicts into a new intoxicant that they can then sell as its own drug. I think they can also sell their blood to major medical organizations and have it used in pharmaceuticals. I still like this concept and might reuse it since I can't find the finished play it turned into.
39. Weirdest character concept you’ve ever had
Bloodletting had a romantic couple made up of a drug dealer and the AI house he was squatting in. My second novel had a leitmotif of the characters experiencing a feeling of "static" in their heads that I later on made into a sentient side character. I think I wrote a short play with a cannibalistic Guy Fieri. I started writing another play based around Sonic the Hedgehog where it was planned for Shadow to non-ironically become a rabbi, but frankly if you consider his character I do not think that's too far from canon.
I'm still percolating a project to do either alongside or after Songbird that's like Armistead Maupin's Tales of the City but with an all-robot cast. And the main character eventually transitions from a human-passing robot to some form of non-human looking machine and is much happier for it. Which I'm excited to put to paper.

Sonic headcanons 10
Shadow the hedgehog likes to watch various documentaries to help him learn more about the world Maria wanted him to protect. He likes a vast variety, but nature documentaries are his favourite. He enjoys seeing the highs and lows of life and what it has to offer. (They're also the reason he knows how babies are made)
(Adopted headcanon from @fernsnailz on Tumblr)- E 123 Omega isn't powered by a little animal like a Flicky, but is powered by a Chaos drive. (seen in Sonic adventure 2) This is because he's meant for longevity and endurance, which isn't really possible if his power source can die easily.
Omega is mostly made of Tungsten alloys and titanium. This makes Omega very sturdy, strong and heat resistant. He also doesn't rust.
Despite Shadow claiming he doesn't have any friends; he actually spends a significant amount of time bonding with Rouge and Omega doing fun activities. This ranges from run of the mill board games, video games, bowling, paint balling (Which all of team Dark are excellent at) and other more extreme hobbies.
Omega secretly volunteers at animal shelters. This probably started as unpaid community service because of public damages he caused, but he ended up really enjoyed caring for the animals. Many of them were abandoned and neglected like Eggman did to him and some were used as an energy source by Eggman in the past. He's very protective of them and no one would ever dare harm an animal if he was to find out about it.
Omega has a pet Romba, which he has taped a knife on it. It infuriates Shadow, Rouge and everyone else at GUN HQ, especially when it stabs their ankles. They don’t know where he got the idea from.
Amy Rose doesn't just use her Tarot cards to predict her own future and impending disasters, she also uses them to predict her friend's futures too. Especially their love lives. Sometimes, she tries to subtly be their wing woman and drop hints if they're near their supposed destined lover. They tend to think it’s just her rambunctious nature and passion for romance, rather than a prediction.

Yandere Sonic
Yes, yes, this is a bit of a random drabble. Grammar might not be the best but, hey, you get something! I'll probably do some writing for this guy later on, we'll see!
Sonic
Ah yes, the name of the games, comics and films: Sonic. Honestly, good character. He's smart, fast, funny and replies with quick combacks when battling enemies or participating in playful banter. Sonic has a bit of an ego as well, flamboyant and loves to show off, making you wonder why you should even root for him in the first place.
That's where the writers get you with Sonic constantly being humbled and told to slow down. His need for speed and impatience are two of the biggest weaknesses he bears, hindering Sonic from being whole. However, he learns from his mistakes and keeps trying; Sonic does not give up. Sonic also hyperfixates on problems that bother him, probably digging far too deeply into an issue that might not need that much solving, thus creating further problems.
That's where I get the idea that he could be a yandere. I mean, (this was mentioned in another blog) how scary would it be if he was your stalker? Petrifying, I'll tell you that. Honestly, you could be minding your own business, going on a simple walk or maybe doing a favorite hobby, being followed by Sonic and when you turn your back, there's no trace of your stalker.
Here's what makes it even better, (or worse, depending upon how you feel) Sonic in my interpretation would absolutely focus on you. Sure, he'd still interact with other characters but, you are his top priority. He'd chose you over anything. Sonic's good at putting up an act, he can downplay any accusations with his good reputation and charm.
Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss. Sonic doesn't give up, as mentioned before, he will find a way to make you his. He's saved so many Mobians and Mobius itself alike, gone on interdimensional missions, fought in space; the blue hedgehog is a traveling connoisseur. Each adventure he went on, Sonic made it out alive and better than before. He's had a lot of down points, I see this as a reoccurring issue he has to deal with, and still, he finds a way out of it.
Perhaps his constant down points give him paranoia? I'm thinking with the amount of things Sonic has endured he'd be worried about losing you. Maybe not to the point of isolating you from the entire world, (I think Sonic would still let you speak to your friends under watchful eyes and listening ears) but he would make sure that he's always around and ready to protect you.
Yeaaaaah, that's about it. Let me know what you guys think! I'll probably work on writing some random drabbles about other characters, fanfics, y'know, the usual.

i,m having so much trouble articulating the dynamic between canon sonic and egghog amy
like. sonic is so deeply sad and concerned for her. she is overwhelmed, she takes things to heart in a way that hurts her, she has too many responsibilities, she's so full of love and she seems so desperate for people to receive it... she overextends herself. she smiles and laughs but she's so, so tired. she's beating herself up over not being able to save everybody, and he can tell his presence just plunges her further into her sorrow, and he just wants so badly for her to take some of her love and put it towards herself.
sonic understands why she's like this, though. he knows what it's like to be the world's hero. her strength, determination, and love are so admirable. she's endured a thousand trials and will endure a thousand more and come out just as tough, just as kind. he believes in her and her capabilities as a hero. he admires her (in a platonic, mutual respect type of way).
amy is the one whose feelings i'm having trouble articulating. she sees this golden boy, this absolute paragon of a hedgehog just stumble into her world and kickstart change pretty much instantly. he has such a goodness about him, this air of something almost divine coming off of him. he smiles wide and crooked and his too-little fangs gleam and they look so familiar yet so strange. his eyes sparkle. his laugh bounces through the air like bells. just looking at him makes her want to cry. also he's naked and that's pretty weird for everybody to get used to but that's a nonsequitur ANYWAY
like. this guy she is so desperate to free from his chains. a guy she's secretly hoping will love her for setting him free. the daydream about the person he could be has sprung to life in front of her and is doing her job way better than she ever could, in her (biased) opinion. he's not evil. he's free. he's free. she doesn't want him to leave this world. she doesn't want to lose hope on her sonic, the hope of turning him into this, but looking at this familiar stranger she can't help but feel so hopeless. he's nothing like the cute, infuriating, scary boy she knows, but she sees the same guy in there, the same craving for adventure and something to DO and the same cocksure headstrong attitude, the rigidity of his moral compass contrasting his free spirit. free. he's free.
it's agonizing watching what could have been. watching him treat his family like strangers, it feels so bad. seeing how he listens and breathes the fresh mountain air, the way the flickies flock to him, it hurts. that could have been theirs.

👯 Favorite team?
Gonna be horribly predictable and say Team Dark. Like, this has its drawbacks- the 'team' format can get really limiting in which characters are allowed to engage with which, and this can affect Rouge and Omega a lot by making them basically just attached to Shadow permanently.
But for all of how their individual lives could use some more attention, I am enamored by Team Dark's dynamic; they're all people who have reasons to distrust and be wary of each other and because of that pricklier complication their loyalty and solidarity feels like it's given some more emphasis and interest.
For better and for worse, we kind of take it for granted when Tails says he'll stick by Sonic forever; it hits with a lot more weight when Rouge, who is always weighing her odds and what's in it for her, says she's ride or die with Shadow, that she's shifting her 'what's in it for me' to a 'what's in it for us' as her own way of protecting him, or Omega who we know is very proud and very defensive of his own autonomy willingly turns himself off to endure the ravages of a bad future just to be a lifeline to Shadow in a diverged timeline.
I really love a lot of the tumblr comics out there of them being roommates especially roommates who are putting up with each others' idiosyncrasies and unglamorous sides.
📺 Favorite TV show?
Eheheheh admittedly Sonic X takes up the most space in my brain but that's not necessarily a fair shake because I consume media at the rate of an anaconda with a tummyache and Sonic X just happens to be the one I've consumed the most of. There's plenty to critique- the monster of the week format gets old fast, I'd say it's a show better curated than watched every single episode since there's some remarkable standout moments and also entirely forgettable episodes that have not much for you if they don't tickle your funny bone.
(That episode with King Boom Boo though is pretty fantastic.)
I love the settings and backgrounds of Sonic SatAM and for how old it is, it's really ambitious and has a lot of good points; it gets honorable mention here, again, not because I think it's 'worse than Sonic X' but because I just haven't consumed enough of it for it to haunt my brain meat. I will say that I consider its take on Robotnik to be the standout best of the western-style Robotniks. His smooth, relaxed villainy in contrast to the brutal efficiency of what happens every time he gets out of his chair is standout. When the guy's mostly known for his boss fight mechs across continuity, it really stands out when you get an Eggman who is a major threat with just some jet boots and a gun.

Part 2 - Another Sonic AU
Last time was a demonstration on how I wanted the characters to interact. Now that I have a clearer head, I want to talk about the characters themselves. I don’t got a main character yet, but it might as well be Sonic because who doesn’t represent my AU better than him?
I hand you a piece of paper with text all over it from my classified folders. The letters seem jumbled and insane, but you read ahead anyways. You wonder; this dimension could be interesting…
Pink Sonic; Primarily Sonic The Hedgehog; Goes by Pink star, coral pink, and The Lone Rider.
*Currently 18 years old, first found when he was 12 years old; Some pieces of text can be old or recent based on earlier studies.
*Currently lives in the “Western” Islands
Dynamic/personality:
Pink Sonic is mostly compliant when it comes to working with other team members, but he has a hard time communicating to them and often jumps into action by himself. Due to his speed, he can finish the job quite easily, but it’s strenuous when it comes to bigger battles. So he has to rely on other team members but all the while making sure they’re holding up. He’s concerned for everyone’s safety in the matter, which indicates that he has a bit of trust issues if he can’t focus his own fights. Even if he knows his teammates are able to, it seems he has a hard time understanding that.
For most part, after battles or even on free time, he doesn’t do much. He mostly finds a quiet space to stand there and admire his atmosphere. Really shows that he’s one to be down to earth or likes relaxing. But this constant isolation only makes his friends want to spend more time with him. He also shows a lot of humility.
He wants to always be alone, and is completely honest about it. He is practical, trustworthy, and doesn’t understand humor very well— but if he does, he reciprocates. He can respond well to being friendly with others and doesn’t struggle with making friends. One strange component though, he doesn’t actually consider the people that surround him as “friends”, merely just “acquaintances.” Mostly because he doesn’t want to get attached or feel that they should be attached to him. It’s a weird coping mechanism that may be unhealthy. Meaning that he is self-reliant.
Backstory:
Pink Sonic was found wondering the world in a spiritual realm. Apart from this planet (haven’t figured out the name yet) but he was still present. Like a veil between two worlds. He had met others before him who left to come down to the planet. But there was a twist, he wouldn’t know where he was going, what time period, who he was, what was all before this, and who he’ll become. It was one risk to take. To live. Willingly but fearfully and beautifully made. This was the moment that Pink Sonic was dubbed as the “Pink Star” by a rare chance he had been born on Earth but by unforeseen circumstances of which all of his Royal Family and relatives were killed except for him. And as he grew up, his one and only best friend who he loved— betrayed him for her country. Almost to the point of murder against him, due to his royal bloodline.
Pink Sonic continued to struggle, enduring every cost and chance of living. He still doesn’t know why he wants to live but he managed to escape her clutches barely. Pink Sonic spends most of his life living in the wilderness. He even made a camp for himself, not even knowing that he’s in the Western territory. When he was caught, the Western community welcomed him and ushered him to come stay with them. Wanting to learn who he was and what he did. It took a very long time for Pink Sonic to get used to the people there while being accustomed to their culture and ways. He continued to be homeless but helped the people there for free. Surprisingly, whenever he got his hands onto some dirty work; he looked radiant afterwards and smelled more like cherry blossoms than ever.
Quickly, he was adopted by an extrovert his age named CowBoy Tails. This was when he was introduced to his new “friends”.
Everything was going good for him. That’s what I thought at least…
I’ll add reference sheet at a later date.
