when people complain about getting like, a 98% grade on something because it was "so close to perfect" its like. i understand what you're saying on a technical level. but that is a line of thought so far away from my experiences and ways of thinking that i do feel like im from another planet. 100% isnt even a real number to me

#i kinda understand when its something like a multiple choice test or something where there is an objective answer #it might feel like u got so close but just missed one #again still a bit alien to me because my scholarly performance is mysterious and anything over 70 is great to me #but i mean ive had a 98 before once in a math test. i did get exactly 1 bit of 1 question wrong #but i didnt really care that it was one off from perfect i was too busy being happy because that was the highest mark id ever received #and the previous math test i had taken got a 53% . grade 11 was a wild time for me in math class GHJKSHFKds #anyway i kinda see where ur coming from with stuff with right or wrong answers like that #but i sometimes get friends in class complain that they got a 95 or something on an art assignment #because they think they got docked 5 points for one or two little things #but i dunno. thats not really how fine arts departments in university tend to grade things #you dont start at 100 and get docked marks for things you got wrong. i dont think ive ever seen a 100% on something like that #tbh the numbers are a little arbitrary i find. i do prefer to try to get em higher because that helps with grants and stuff #but the numbers dont mean all that much in fine arts or in art history (my two majors) a 75 and a 95 can function the same depending on lik #weighting and context and feedback and whatever. i dunno its a wild world out there #it might just be the perspective of someone who did really goodbad in school. i don't think i've ever seen anyone point out this particular height oddity in worm before--being 'a little over 6 feet' does not put you head and shoulders over the average height man, it puts you maybe like...half a head over them. it's kinda interesting that this one Overestimates how much 6 ft is because usually it seems like wildbow is Underestimating it (i.e. coil, neil, and brian all being in the high 6-7ft range). just something i thought was a little funny

it's also very funny how taylor just like. Wanders off into the bad part of town (tm) in expectations that she'll find some random evildoing to stop and is surprised later on when it turns out she was interfering in a gang war and not just saving innocent children. like, why would there be random children in the docks. 200 pages of Cape Planning and she has Not seriously thought about the actual mechanisms of this hero thing. local suburban white girl who understands nothing about the practical realities of crime about to become warlord of an entire city. that said:

So i decided to rewatch static shock and now i have Ideas(tm)

IDEA 1

Amity and dakota are neighboring and/or sister cities, and virgil and danny are the same age or one is only a few years older than the other.

A few things about dakota's location:

It has miles of waterfront on its east side to Lake Dakota, which has ocean access. The lake has a golden gate sized bridge over it, but the other side is never shown. An extremely large artificial lake from a dammed up river that leads to the atlantic makes the most sense to me. A fictional Great Lake is also entirely possible. Either option probably still limits Dakota to east of (or connected to?) the mississippi, especially when combined with the point below.

Its implied to be close enough to gotham for virgil to signal batman in the sky, and to quickly fly over. There's still plenty of room for reinterpretation, though.

Its large enough to have 'miles' of waterfront, and to have stadiums hosting major sports events, so its safely larger than amity park.

I was looking at a map and thought it would be great if dakota was between or encompassed toledo and detroit (i got the impression it was an expy of chicago or detroit anyways), with lake eerie and lake st clair on its east. Lake st clair would be renamed dakota lake and lake erie is the lake eerie that danny and his dad visit. Amity park is in ohio instead of illinois (which is fanon anyways).

(Also, hilariously, dakota has a poorer neighborhood called the fenton projects. Do with that what you will.)

So basically, dakota is the closest "big city" to amity park, so theres a lot of cross travel. Both cities get their vigilantes at the same time and bond over the mutual weirdness, and team phantom and team shock are close allies that constantly fly over to help each other out.

OR, one of the origin stories happened 2-5 years after the other, and whichever one is younger goes to the other for vigilante advise and training.

IDEA 2

The chemical that caused the big bang is some form of ecto, and all the bang babies are liminal. In this idea, i imagined team phantom closer to batman's age instead of static's. The (adult) team is investigating ecto-shipments in dakota when or shortly after the big bang event happens, connect alva to vlad and/or the giw, and discover a conspiracy to deliberately create liminals 'for science' (ie the chemicals were purposefully placed at the docks and a gang war deliberately incited).

Team phantom set up a bang baby outreach program at the community center with virgil's dad and quickly identify virgil as static. They train virgil (and eventually richie) and cover their patrols under the excuse that the two are extremely involved in the outreach program (which they are - static recommends the program to all of his rogues).

Danny's team is able to help the various bang babies develop and control their powers, has the resources to help anyone who doesnt want to be associated with ebon's gang, and has a way to safely subdue and contain the bang babies that refuse any help and continue to be a danger to others. And they can show up in a mask if they want to hide their identity while learning to control their powers (not that it would actually stop the team from being able to identify them). The team is also monitoring the bang baby population to make sure the giw or anyone else arent disappearing them.

The team would also take great offense to how the cure was ethically handled at the end of the series, especially if retconning the bang babies as liminals means that 'curing' them would actually hurt them.

Anyways, more danny phantom x static shock crossovers, please.

Hey y'all! :D I have a two-parter for you today!

Since I'm still on that Thomas Brainrot(tm), I've been writing sort of "fan" episode concepts just for funsies. And since we never got to see the two sets of twin engines interact, you bet I had to write something based on just that! xD

Then, of course, I decided to draw something based on the concept as well, aaand... here we are! xD

One day, Douglas goes to Brendam Docks, where he meets a pair of cheeky little Saddletank engines. They're quickly up to their usual antics, teasing and pulling tricks on the poor Scottish engine. He's most annoyed with the two little troublemakers, and quickly begins thinking of a way to get back at them. 

And so, with a little help from his twin Donald, they turn the tables on those cheeky little tank engines and give them a little taste of their own medicine! ;D

Once it's all over, though, they all have a good laugh about it! :D Though Bill and Ben would be shocked at first, they'd be good sports about it. At the very least they'd know never to mess with the Scottish twins again, that's for sure! xD

Honestly, I'm still shocked that these guys never interacted in the canon material. Pairing the two sets of twin engines together just seems like such a fun concept! I'd have loved to see the little gremlin tank engines get their comeuppance from the more level-headed, albeit still cheeky in their own right, Scottish twins. xD

Ah well! I can have fun imagining the chaos at least. ;D

Overall, I'm super happy with how this turned out!! I kind of went for a storybook-esque vibe with this and the other piece, and I'm really happy with the result. I also just had a lot of fun playing around with all the different textures and effects.

So I hope y'all enjoy it too! <3 And, with the FNAF movie (I still can't believe it LOL) just around the corner, I do have plans to draw something for that in the near future. ;3

🔱 Caeruleis - Ocean Zora 🔱

Expanded my ocean zora city from 2017 >:) here's the toyhou'se page if its easier to read there! Feel free to add zora residents to this city ✨ {Zora Cybele lore courtesy of @mochamart-tm} 1.1k words 🐳

Location: Eastern Sea (East of Necluda) | Type: Republic (no monarchy), run by elected high council | Alliances: Zora's Domain, Arctic Kingdom, Yona's Domain??

Summary: Far out to sea lies a massive underwater city renown for their military superpower, awe-inspiring library, airpocketed architecture, prestigious learning institute and their colourful glowing plant-life. This city is home to a variety of species rarely found on the peninsula or in Zora's Domain, where their culture is intertwined with their guardian cybeles: Circa and Vellanora (c) @mochamart-tm. Due to ongoing tensions with the Forbidden Sea and the abundance of sea monsters, Caeruleis appointed itself the protectorate of the eastern sea {extended military notes here}. The most formidable and tactile soldiers are in this ocean. Despite the dangers, Caeruleis is safe and peaceful as it is somewhat hidden, so the city lights wouldn’t lure in sea monsters.

General Lionel is one of the members of the high council, accompanied by his adjutant (Lieutenant General) Byers.

🔱 Main Features 🔱

Grand Caeruleis Library: In the capital lies an awe-inspiring underwater library affiliated with their university. Philosophers, historians, artists, and scientists work and study here, passing on their knowledge to new generations of aspiring scholars. One notable zora residing here is Sea-monster Specialist Niles.

Lumini Park: Like a big, beautiful garden park but underwater, where the plantlife are colourful corals and seaweeds with many of them glowing, like in Subnautica.

Cybele Statue: (lore @mochamart-tm) In the city plaza stands a statue of the Cybele leviathans Circa and Vellanora. Due to the reappearance of the Cybeles, the citadel occasionally provides offerings and prayers to their deities to continue being blessed by their protection. The biggest celebration is the return of the large Cybele Festival that now occurs once a year on the date the Cybele Circa reappeared. It's tradition for child zoras to weave garlands for the Cybele for this day.

Valley of The Fallen: A barren seabed of staked weapons (graveyard) honoring deceased soldiers.

Floating Trade Dock: A small village on the ocean surface, above the citadel. For trading purposes.​​​​

Kelp forests / biomes: like you see in Subnautica

Twisting Tunnels: dangerous and fast currents flow through a labyrinth of tunnels. Very fun, but can give you some decent bruises if you're not careful.

Statue of Volitan: This statue is located near the city garrison, a notable commander in the ancient past

🔱 Other 🔱

Sea Above: The stars above is an endless luminescent ocean where they swim when they die. 

Great navigators: More sensitive to the magnetic field, and read the stars like a compass as if their ancestors are guiding them.

Physique: Bigger lung capacity bigger/more gills and not really used to walking on land. More likely to be bioluminescent. Improved cold tolerance than land zora. (cannot withstand the arctic without cold resistance elixirs tho)

Diet: High fat thermal diet like Hearty Salmon, Mackerel, abalone etc. Also eat mussel, crustaceans and edible anemone. Consuming Lantern Fish allows them to glow in dark areas of the ocean, like Cave Fish in-game.

Stronger zora weapons: including underwater bow/harpoons.

Incubation: Their nursery for their eggs are nearby the city's hydrothermal vents (they call them Vent Springs), for the warmth and rich minerals they expel. Also where zora can rejuvenate.

Sonar communication: Other than verbal communication and signing, ocean zora have become adept at their own sonar clicks and tunes to communicate/locate eachother out of earshot. Whale/dolphin zora have greater range: they're ecolocators who can detect distant sea monsters.

Social: Many don’t speak as formal as Zora’s Domain. While being altruistic, protective, humble, food-driven and mighty, they tend to like spending time in mutual quietness (vibing). They have expressive hand/facial gestures, languidly flick their headtails and undulate/flare their fins. As there's much larger creatures than them in the open sea, they stick together and watch eachothers back, just like schools of fish. Toddler zora do infact school like fish.

seaweed-based packaging

Military headquarters: Located in the center. Only accessible through another currented tunnel network that only authorized officers know how to  navigate. The magic of the tunnel will spit anyone it deems an intruder back outside the walls or into a trap room.

Wedding traditions

Piezoelectricity: electric charge that accumulates in certain solid materials, in this case it's magic power in rare crystals and stones. LTG Byers channels this in his helm. 

⚔️ History - story time ⚔️

Leviathan Cybeles, when there were more, were heavily worshiped in ancient times.. out of fear. Ancient Caeruleis zora had to relocate countless times from seamonsters or natural disasters, becoming cautious and territorial of large creatures that ate them, even of the cybeles, who did not. Whether it was be cybeles themselves or by corrupt zora leaders, cybeles were imprisoned as threats. The Eastern Sea is dangerous. 

The cybeles were offered sacrifices, even zora sacrifices. These cybeles however did not eat them, and gained a collection of uneaten sacrifices over time. The sacrifices preferred to stay with the friendly cybeles anyway. Over time, cybeles became myth as rituals were lost. Remaining cybeles that hadn't been imprisoned yet had ventured away. The only remnants being forgotten temples, statues and ruins on the deep sea floor and in the Depths' waters. There may even be a fallen cybele lost there, who knows.

Now that Caeruleis is stronger and more fortified, current era zora became more open and curious of ancient history and myths, which led to the search and release of deities. They are revered and loved by the ocean zora once more, while also atoning for their past.

Chief Commander Volitan: Having been accused of conspiracy/treason against the corrupt leaders for wanting change, they went as a sacrifice instead of execution. Seeing the cybeles as no threat, Volitan had an idea to have their soldiers sent as sacrifices to form a secret platoon, who then overthrew the corrupt leaders with the cybele by their side.

Return of the Cybele Circa (current era): Upon Lionel touching Volitan's staked glaive that called for him in effort to stop an all out war led by former General Kahn, a series of images flashed of a similar distress just like Lionel's. And of a legendary leviathan, lost to time. The power within the glaive urged Lionel to take it as his. With Niles finding old folklore scriptures within the archives, they sought distant Shrine Priests and Priestesses of the cybeles who deciphered it to be a puzzle.

Lionel was dropped into the eye of the storm by a brave Rito to investigate. With the glaive's ancient piezoelectric stone, he had finally set her free. From then on the legend resurfaced, now being worshiped and provided offerings just like old times in exchange for her protection.

AU where Moiraine balefired Lanfear

[Send me a potential AU and I'll answer with five things from that story!]

Heh. This one is interesting (and a touch less fraught then the last one)-

Timing is a big thing. I could see it happen at the docks in place of the Tackle Lanfear Into Fairy Hell plan. Thought it's also possible it could have gone horribly awry as well (given that it apparently wasn't viable enough for Moiraine to consider in canon). I could see a concentrated effort by Moiraine to assassinate her earlier via Balefire, possibly during the Aiel Waste Arc, if she managed to put the pieces together regarding Lanfear's identity.

Either way I don't think Rand Reacts Well. He's already got a lot of Issues TM regarding taking responsibility for the actions of others, and a lot of issues regarding Moiraine's trust to work through. For sake of AU I'll say it comes after they've had their turning point at Rhudiean, and Rand has started to trust her again: the twin thoughts twisting at his gut are 'I'm still responsible because Moiraine was doing because she swore to protect me' and 'if I had just been better this woudn't been necessary'. But the only way for Rand to deal with that anger it to externalize it- direct it a Moiraine, and yet that comes across as being angry at her for killing one of the Forsaken, which probably justifies Moiraine's choice to do so in her own mind. One immediate effect is that I think she gets left out of the raid on Camelyn

A rift reopens between them either way- Rand drawing away and Moiraine refusing to bend on the point that it was necessary and right. Which of course leaves Rand open to manipulation by his his enemies- Alviarian, Elaida, etc, who would all take advantage of the rift between them to drive that trust further apart, further isolate Rand.

Ironically, though it saves her life, I think it still dooms her as Rand's councilor, and probably damages the mission long term in ways that are pretty hard to retract or recover from. And just as ironically, I think it would take a big act of trust- probably rescuing Rand at Dumai's Wells, taking up arms against other Aes Sedai, to win back that trust.

Which conversely I think is an easy choice for Moiraine to make when the time comes. I could see her going to the Black Tower even before the Aiel, under cold brutal pragmatism - the Aiel might hesitate still to slay Aes Sedai. Men who can channel, men who can channel lead by Mazrim Taim no less, would have no such compunction.

-Kitali does not like her enough to want to help with the politics though. She's done and over being used to further political goals of other people. The bit about not wanting to let the overly aggressive candidate win was intruiging but her line of thinking is "well, this is what the Alliance is supposed to be for, I'm not going to continue to be their one woman army anymore."

-WIFE SPOTTED IN LIMSA I REPEAT WIFE SPOTTED IN LIMSA LOMINSA DOCKS

-I am going to fucking shit myself laughing if Estinien winds up on the same boat/same dock as the Scions coming in completely by coincidence because he's continuing his retirement trip around the planet.

-I respect and love him so much for that btw like this man has likely never set foot much further outside of Coerthas than the North Shroud for the first 32 years of his life, he is going to see as much of the world as he can now.

-someone was complaining in Radz shout chat about how the relics weren't "an actual grind" and someone else shouted back that EW was the "waiting room expansion" like. Y'all did this to yourselves, you are aware of this, right? You complained and whined and pouted SO HARD about Eureka and Bozja that they said "okay, baby shoes this time" and now you think it's too easy? Come join us omnicrafters in the Splendour tool grind then. Cowards.

-I'm glad that only the Arkasodara quests are canon for Kitali bc wow that capstone questline felt like a "somehow Palpatine has retured" for me. Nonsense(derogatory) as opposed to Hildibrand nonsense(affectionate).

-Where is Hraesvelgr we saw Hraesvelgr in the trailer but he wasn't here? Maybe there's still more for the actual 7.0 release idk

-Also weird that G'raha was in Tural in the trailer but says he's staying behind with the Annex. I don't particularly mind or care but just something I thought was odd.

-Urianger and Thancred. That is all.

-"What are you two doing here?" Krile they fucking live in Sharlayan I don't know if you were aware of this or not.

-My fondness for Erenville continues to grow. I think he and Kitali get along very well. They both are so very Done(tm) with everyone.

-It was nice seeing Jullus on the Island sanctuary but that just blasted so many holes in a ficlet I had wanted to write and I was too busy being bitter about that to really enjoy the rest of the time there.

-"it must be nice being able to get away" yeah see you would THINK THAT but I keep having all these fucking tourists showing up on my beach asking to parade around the place. 'Private getaway' my ass. Kitali is packing a bag and moving to the east side of the island.

-the overall messages of "power of friendship and hope" and "everything comes to an end, we all experience loss" are really starting to sound like a broken record. For people like me who have basic media literacy and got the message the first idk half dozen times....this is unnecessary. I know that a good chunk of the userbase needs it spelled out for them in black and white but.....idk. And a lot of it is that it's trying to hit emotional buttons that I just don't have because I did not care that much about Endwalker as an expansion. EW was just the wolstinien agenda expansion lmao. I don't particularly care for the Omicron or the lopporit questlines which is where they really tried to jam pack it in and I just ended up button mashing my way through the stories.

-Who the FUCK was in charge of picking reaction expressions in all of those cutscenes? On top of "she would not be smiling like that at G'raha, it takes so much of her self control to not actively scowl at him", some of those were just so out of place. I know what each one was bc i live in gpose and the tonal dissonance on some of them were just........what.

-Monster hunter honeymoon expansion still a very strong possibility.

-those last few lines in the final cutscene.........Man. I hope we do get to go north and see what the fuck is under all those clouds on Ilsabard and Othard.

-final relic stage lance Pretty :3

-I need an entire sitcom of Wuk Lamat and Erenville as children that was SO TASTY.

-I am glad that they're getting rid of the Stormblood problem with making the contest of succession explicitly open to outsiders.

-I like the reference in the food book to potatoes and tomatoes being imported from Tural through Limsa, that was a nice touch.

-I will still likely not pick up blue mage by the time Dawntrail releases lmao. F for me for missing any potential extra dialogue.

What do you think about asoryuu?

Oh boy, this one's going to be a bit loaded, so here's a bit of a preemptive apology for a ramble/word vomit/rant on my end. Suffice to say ASRY is a NoTP for me. When I was first getting into DGS all the way back in 2019/20, I was a bit ambivalent towards the ship. I had only watched a playthrough of the first game, and I had the feeling that Kazuma was going to come back, but the ship didn't really scream to me at that point, and it kind of befuddled me to see how it was so popular (and a bit of a tangent, I think people only really ship the 1-1 dynamic, but that's a convo for another day). If you even look at the header of my blog, it is no secret that I ship Ryuususa, and it is my OTP. When I had watched the fifth case on the playthrough, I was sold on that ship, and the last moments really sealed the deal for me-- there's something really compelling about the goodbye scene between Susato and Ryuunosuke at the docks, and the localization legitimately made me cry (happy tears of course!) Being a little naive, I started to post about it and I got... a LOT of harassment calling me a lot of names/accusing me of being okay with a lot of really horrible things (intrusive thoughts WHOOOOOOP). The harassment was so bad that I only recently opened up to my therapist about what had happened, and I was pulling away from servers/people I thought I was friends with/wouldn't treat me horribly. I found a lot of solace with people who were also violently harassed pre-localization (shout out to the Baroryuu community, you all were really kind to me, and I am proud to also be a Baroryuu lover <3), when I say it was drama filled pre localization, I mean it. I can even point out when my harassment started to March of 2021 when someone on twitter said not to read my dgs fics since I was a proshipper (I hadn't even called myself that at this point, and honestly I don't really use that title [idk how else to describe it lol], but I do follow that philosophy and call myself anti-harassment), and since I hadn't had a twt at that time, they linked to my ao3, and since I put my tumblr on my fics, I got a LOT of disturbing anons. Even when I made my server, I used to have a link that anyone could click on (word of the day is naive lmaooo), and I got a lot of creeps coming in trying to surveil the server and make sure their friends weren't in it (one person was even trying to get access to the nsfw section which was FUN). After reading this, you're probably thinking "what does this have to do with ASRY?". A lot of the major bullies in fandom HEAVILY shipped ASRY, and would harass people who shipped other ships (Baroryuu and Asobaro shippers were racist, Homuryuu shippers were okay with incest because of that stupid "greatest family in the world" line, etc.). All in all, it came with a lot of entitlement and anger that other peopled DARED not to ship that ship. Those sorts of people really tainted the ship for me. As for the ship itself, I can definitely see why people love it a lot (especially 1-1), but I really didn't like Kazuma in 2-4/5. I found him to be really particularly awful and obtuse (which, makes perfect sense in the story! Who wouldn't be in his position?). I was also mad that he only said ONE (1!!!) thing to Susato when he got his memories back (despite HER recognizing him and getting the ball rolling), and it was basically "Thanks for helping out my friend, bye!" (#justiceforsusato lol). Even at the end of the game, I still was mad at Kazuma and didn't really like him. It's only due to my friends (namely @leafyemeralds and her VERY GOOD TAKES in our convos) that I eventually started to warm up to him. Now he's my personal punching bag to Atone(tm) XD I suppose TL;DR I'm not a big Kazuma fan, harassment made me really dislike the ship, so I don't ship it (also, can ASRY shippers tag their stuff? this is more of a problem on twitter, but it happens on tumblr. Filters can only work if they're there =3=)

I love kerbal space program, have hundreds of hours in the first one. Got KSP2 when it came out early access bc I simply love the game. idc about the bugs, just wanna show off my ship I made. Been playing a lot more since the exploration mode released since that was the game mode I enjoyed most.

Anyway, this ship I spent many hours building and then assembling in space is gonna do like 3 or 4 different missions (and as I type this I just remembered I forgot the tiny lander meant for The Mohole (TM) so I'll have to add that on the very tip of the station, luckily I have a small docking port available to attach onto).

At the tip is the return vehicle for my crew of 3 (specifically 3 bc one of the missions). Below that is the lander they will use to land on Ike. The side things in green are just satellites so the probe parts of the station can operate without a kerbal on board. Then in grey is the scoence part. Do science, collect science. Orange is the solar array arms. I had those folded up along the side of the science part for launching into space, detached in space, then aligned correctly. Pink is the main engine of the station which will be used after the red side engines are depleted. There is so much fuel on this bad boy. 4 Nerv nuclear engines on each side part and 5 on the middle.

Hopefully the kraken leaves me alone for this mission. Already had an encounter with it in assembly. Also, all the parts of the station makes the fps pretty low lol. tfw early access.

Also when we at the subject of Brook - it's time for "Meg remembers One Piece fanfic she wrote"!

And it was a doozy...

Okay, so the title could be translated as (Un)cute tykes and it was part de-aging fic and part mystery novel. One night Straw Hats get turned into children... aside from Brook, Chopper and Franky. Moreover - Luffy, Zoro, Usopp, Nami, Sanji and Robin had amnesia. They didn't know they are pirate crew, what their names are etc.

So there were two subplots in this story. One was about how Brook, Chopper and Franky tried to make their nakama remember who they are, and piece together how their nakama turned into children. The second was how the three Responsible Adults(TM) were taking care of the six children under their care. Meanwhile people on the small island Thausand Sunny docked into were suspicious of pirates due to certain event in the past. The only semi-friendly person was a schoolhouse teacher who found Brook kinda charming.

Over time baby Straw Hats were also starting to remember some peculiar things, like Sanji realizes suddenly that they have to buy a lot of meat for Luffy due to his Devil Fruit (it was my headcanon at the time that Luffy devours so much meat because his rubber powers cost him a lot of calories) and Robin calls Chopper "Mr. Doctor" (as in - the way she calls him as an adult).

Anyways...

People were telling me that my version of Brook is much more serious than in the original... but they liked him that way. He kinda becomes a caretaker/detective/temporary leader of the crew. There was a really cool scene where he, Chopper and Franky were playing late night poker, while also discussing the possible theories as to what happened and how to reverse it.

Now, I don't know if I ever finish this fic, so under cut I wrote what I remember from the resolution of this mystery.

The pirate attack in history of the island was so severe that someone made a device that turns pirates into children who later are sent to the schoolhouse of the teacher that fancies Brook. The idea is that they are to be raised again as lawful citizens. In fact, it is the teacher's ancestor who started it.

The reason the device didn't work on Brook, Chopper and Franky is that it works only on living humans, and Brook is a skeleton, Chopper is a reindeer who ate Devil Fruit, and most of Franky's body is mechanical.

The BatKids as the Gotham Region Gym Leaders

Gym Leader Number Eight: Richard (Dick) Grayson (The Flying Type Gym Leader)

Dick as a Gym Leader: Dick is probably the most influential of all the Gotham Region Gym Leaders. He has several more years of experience from all the others, which makes him cut loose a bit more since he already spent most of his earlier years working hard to hone his and his team’s skills. Despite being one of the most playful and lighthearted Gym leaders, he still doesn’t hold back when challenged. Most trainers who challenge and manage to defeat him find themselves hoping to follow in Dick’s example of passion for the craft of battle, but also enjoyment for connection and trust each challenge gives you. Among all the Trainers of Gotham, if not for Bruce Wayne himself, Dick would be considered the face of Pokémon Battling of his region.

Gym Set Up: Dick’s Gym is set up quite similarly to Barbara’s in the sense that both are set up like a maze, instead of relying on knowledge like the earlier Gotham Gyms. The only difference in their set up is that while Barbara’s Gym is meant to lead you to find your way, Dick’s is more a journey of either where you’ve been or where you will be. The Gym will be circus themed, so when you enter a circus tent by the docks you’ll immediately be greeted by a Gym Trainer who will lead you to a rope ladder in the center, and ask you to climb it. Once you do you’ll be on a trapeze platform, and you must swing across each platform where you will meet a Trainer and battle. There will be seven battles in total and each Trainer’s platform will be decorated in the same colors or aesthetic of one of the Gotham Region Gym Leaders, with some of them even (if not all) matching a Pokémon of theirs to that Gym’s type (for example in early game when you make it to the fire/ghost Gym platform (Jason’s Gym), the Gym Trainer may have a Pokémon like Oricorio (ghost type)). Once you defeat all the trainers you’ll swing to a final larger platform across from the one where you originally started, and Dick Grayson himself will swing down in front of you to battle. If you face off against Dick in the beginning of your journey, his Gym Trainers will have teams consisting of Oricorio, Murkrow, Woobat, or Rookidee. If you challenge Dick halfway through your journey his Gym trainers will have teams that include Golbat, Pelipper, Oricorio, Archen, or Talonflame. If you take on Dick at the late stages of your journey his Gym Trainers teams will consist of Oricorio, Skarmory, Hawlucha, Mandibuzz, Fan Rotom, Gliscor, Xatu, and Drifblim.

Gym Team Roster (Early Journey Edition): If you challenge Dick at a Gym battle early into your journey, his team will consist of a Gligar for an early defense against any electric type, a Rufflet because they remind him of Damien in his Robin uniform when he has the hood up, and an Emolga. If you defeat Dick he will hand you the TM for Roost.

Gym Team Roster (Late Journey Edition): When you face off against Dick late into your Journey, he will have a well stacked team. While it may not look the strongest, his years of experience can really drive you into a corner if you’re not careful. His first Pokémon is a Togekiss with great defense. His second team mate is a Gliscor to handle any Electric type Pokémon. His third partner is a Gyarados that can handle any Rock types, as well as offer a great offense. His fourth Pokémon is an Emolga that was given to him as a child by his late parents, because of their hard training Emolga is very swift and hard to hit so it’s a threat to most trainers. His fifth partner is a Braviary that was given to him by Damien when it was a Rufflet. His last Pokémon, while not a flying type in this form, is a Mega Charizard X that was given to him by Bruce, and is one of his most trusted partners. If you manage victory against Dick he will hand you a TM for Aerial Ace.

Vigilante Team: Dick’s vigilante team is one of the most stacked for a very dark reason. Since he’s had to live through Jason’s death, he’s felt safer knowing there’s more hands (or paws… flippers?) on deck, to care for his family or citizens when he can’t get there on time. Mega Charizard X is on the team because of their trust. He has a Salamnce for when raw power is needed and easy transportation. He keeps a Swellow for it’s determined personality. He keeps a Mantine for aquatic assistance. He has a Golbat for stealth, and a Jumpluff for daytime missions with the Titans and to offer comfort to victims.

Civilian Party: When it comes to Dick’s civilian team, he likes to keep the Pokémon he’s closest to on hand, which includes Emolga, Charizard, and Braviary. Out of all the Wayne kids, he’s the one who has taken their image of prestige to heart, so his civilian team has an Altaria and Dragonite to please upper class Gotham, and because he’s fond of their gentle nature.

i feel like opla!udyati would just fit in with the straw-hat crew so well because she's sunshiney and she fights and she has that backstory tm and i feel like she has a parallel with the main straw-hat pirates we've seen so far in the live action (sunshiney and warm with strong convictions like luffy; swordswoman / dagger user / weapons user like zoro; has lived underneath the wing of someone who oppresses others like nami; has an innate appreciation for food and beautiful people like sanji and is able to weave and tell tales like usopp). but i feel like if she's anything to them, she, much like kaya, would be an ally of theirs instead of a full fledged crew member. someone they can call upon if need be. someone who would have their back. someone they run into once they dock the going merry somewhere like loguetown or wherever. someone they run into near a beach of any kind. someone who shows up every once in a while, just because. also because the thought of udyati accidentally opening a door to the opla universe and carving out a place on her own there - much like she's done within the desc universe (shoutout to the pirates of the lost revenge) and to wherever henry turner is on any given day - is hilarious to me. tl;dr: udyati loves pirates so much (generally because they're cool as fuck but also they symbolize freedom to her) and the straw-hat crew is no exception because once she gets to know them, she'll carry them within her heart too like she does everyone else.

is programmer humor(TM) cringe. idk. but when i do it it’s not cringe, it’s funny. obviously. anyway. camilla has a comical amount of computer monitors because she takes her workspace way too seriously. ergonomics. etc. she’s got all this high end equipment, she’s got the several monitors and charging cable and the mouse and keyboard all plugged into one $100+ docking station, that whole setup. maybe camilla is a keyboard person, one of those people who knows about keycaps and shit, im not sure i’m just putting it out there. meanwhile palamedes has a comical amount of computer monitors because, well, cam did all the research on this stuff and it’s not like she’s wrong (he definitely has his ergonomics shit together. love wins), but also because he needs all that space to hold his comical amount of browser windows (each with a comical amount of tabs), comical amount of code editor windows, random terminals, random notepad windows, etc, etc. it’s terrifying to witness. he’s saved so much shit to his desktop that the desktop icons have started overlapping each other. this is a real thing, i used to do tech support and one time we saw this computer that had so much shit saved to the desktop that it ran out of space to put the icons and it started stacking them all in the corner. which means you can’t even click on them anymore because they’re on top of each other, which kind of defeats the purpose of saving them to your desktop, but i guess at that point you’re in too deep. anyway. that’s palamedes. you look at his screen (screens……) and it does nothing to tell you what he’s actually doing, whatever he’s got going on there is completely inscrutable. he swears he knows what he’s doing though. & he swears all of that shit is essential to his workflow. except the desktop stuff, he doesn’t have a clue what half those files are but it’s gotten out of hand and it’s too late to do anything about it now

I got to play Indigo Disk a bit after some trials and tribulations.

MY opinions after a few hours: enjoying it but frustrating that things are still not fixed.

The good:

Environments look pretty great, especially indoor ones. Outside environments dip in quality but look much better than Paldea or Kitakami

Music is fun in all sorts of ways I can't spoil. We lost some dynamic music, but the substitute is worth it

The characters so far are a hoot and have some hilarious dialog and banter. I love how much of a piece of shit Drayton is, and new Kieran, imo, is way more entertaining than old uwu shy bean Kieran. He's ironically hilarious trying to act all badass while being like... 12 lol. I'm happy to see Carmine again too, she's toned down and a little more friendly but her fun bitchy side comes out sometimes and makes me smile.

The mid:

The difficulty is very refreshing. I was thinking that the pokeinfluencers were being led on because they were given awful teams, but the struggle is real. I fought 2 trainers with life orbs, a double intimidate strategy, helping hands, it's actually refreshingly difficult and kind of giving me Colosseum vibes.

Synchronization is also fun! I tested it out with my shiny Hisuian Samurott, and it's super neat. It's like a step beyond Let's Go mode imo, and it's fine until you have to stop because you- despite having a move with a type advantage- get folded after getting hit once by a Pokémon with a technical type advantage. But I did notice that Samurott swims really well, too, so its not just flying, and there seems to be no limit to how far you can go within the terrarium- although you can't go beyond it apparently to use it.

Maybe it's just me, but something about the new uniforms just aren't clicking. We get about 6 uniforms early on, which is refreshing, but for some reason it doesn't look as good in practice as it did in promotion. I can't really find anything I'm 100% happy with for my character despite knowing some of these designs have lots of merit.

Idk, I'm really missing being able to match tops and bottoms like the old days. Like if you gave me the track top with the winter pants, I'd be pretty stoked. Or maybe give me something actually like Drayden or Kieran's jackets. Idk man. It's not bad, I'll say that, but I'm not satisfied.

The bad:

Performance remains unchanged. I'm not joking when I say Game Freak really needs to give back that award for "excellence" they got a while back until they finish the damn game and stop publishing unfinished crap for full price and beyond, because this is beyond unacceptable, NOT excellent, and at this point and I'm tired of nothing being done about it. It is so immersion breaking when environments flicker and pop in and out during dialog and exploration, and the slow downs... ugh. Not to mention I had a game breaking glitch where I exited a store and couldn't move or open menus or anything- my first time encountering this particular glitch as far as I can recall, and I lost progress. Like come tf on Game Freak. You've had OVER A FUCKING GOD DAMN YEAR after launch to fix things. They really must have abandoned ship at this point, and honestly they should be ashamed that it's not optimized for the ONLY system the game and dlc are available for at the moment after all of this time.

World's Richest Franchise, TM

Minor nitpicks are the new hair and accessories which... suck ngl. Aside from an Electabuzz family themed backpack, nothing new here really sparks joy, especially the hair styles, which look boring, bland, bad, or not enough.

Overall:

I'm enjoying what I can, but the bad stuff still docks points, so 6/10 so far, which is just barely passing. May go higher, may go lower as I progress further.

You may think I'm harsh, but honestly it's deserved for a product that was paid for. You can enjoy a bad game, but the game seriously needs optimization on the fucking double.

god its just,,,, do you ever think about how the level of intimacy that garak and julian have by the end of the show is so intense. even if you take canon depiction VERY seriously and assume they didn't have many offscreen interactions that were substantially different from what we see onscreen, and that they seemed to grow apart in the last two seasons, they are just!!!! like, they obviously desire each other Sexually (TM) but there's a point at which it doesn't feel like sex would actually be much of an upgrade intimacy-wise. they are so close. they are already physically comfortable being in each other's space. and of course there's "by inferno's light" but i can't get into that again or i'll go feral. but like, the way they are just? so? connected????

i really like fics where julian still demonstrates his intentions in post-canon cardassia through some kind of elaborate cardassian courtship ritual because i think it is something he would do, he's very extra and garak loves that about him. i also really like the ones where they keep getting their signals crossed or drama gets in the way but when things finally align, one of them storms in and kicks the door shut and slams the other one into the wall and they go absolutely feral on each other. these are both EXTREMELY VALID.

BUT ALSO? i have a real appreciation for them just sort of letting the familiarity and closeness they very clearly already feel slide into more physical intimacy, because there is simply no reason why it shouldn't, there is no reason to draw create these artificial barriers. garak is canonically very tactile with him and despite having this sort of buttoned-up persona, or perhaps BECAUSE of it, i think this kind of thing can really work for him. how many times did they share a bed or a cot, realistically, that we weren't shown on tv because of rick berman? whomst the fuck else would bashir REALLY be sharing with in the prison camp after garak gets there? (ok, martok probably, but still). what about in rocks & shoals? what about on the defiant? come on. they have quite literally slept together, you cannot convince me otherwise. and then, and then, you know, hands wander.

like to an extent, with the "courtly love" headcanon that i've often espoused, it does make sense that they would enforce some kind of boundary with each other when it comes to prolonged close physical contact like that. and that's where my love of the other two types of "getting together" fics comes in - because it makes sense they have been denying themselves this intimacy even though they are literally so intimate already. because it felt like too much. it still feels like A Step that needs to be negotiated.

but i also love, LOVE thinking about a version of their relationship where it simply happens because they are simply each other's Person and nobody else gets me like he gets me and i trust him even though i shouldn't and gives me little gifts and sees me off at the docking bay and i read EVERY SINGLE AWFUL BOOK he recommends me and i know he's hiding something, probably something important, but when he smiles i smile even if i don't want to because he's just! him! so obviously as some point there's just, a playful whisper, lips on the neck, lips on lips, whoopsy daisy didn't mean to turn you on but as long as we're here ;) soft laughing and gentle teasing and a slow tumble into something new that feels perfectly right, like they were always meant to end up here.
