It was Luz’s birthday! At least, that’s what King overheard. It was apparently coming up, and he knew for a fact that humans celebrated that sort of thing too. To his knowledge, humans tended to eat cake to celebrate too right? Even if they didn’t, he was sure Luz would like it. Regardless, here he was at her girlfriend’s house, ready to ask for assistance in making it.

‘I don’t know how to bake a cake, my servants would always do it for me,’ he distinctly remembered using that excuse back when he thought he was the ‘King of Demons.’ Not that he didn’t still call himself that. It had a nice ring to it.

King scurried up the steps to what appeared to be a large mansion. Despite knowing most of the people inside, he couldn’t help but feel a little intimidated by it. It was definitely a stark contrast to the Owl House. Part of him was even tempted to see if there was any demon that came out of the Blights’ front door too.

“Well... I’m off to a great start aren’t I..?” He sarcastically mused to himself, debating whether or not he should knock, search for a doorbell, or stick to his instincts and just sneak through a window. Nah, Amity’s family probably wouldn’t like that.

Hesitantly, he reached his claw up to the door and knocked.

To say that Kikimora was having a rough day would be an understatement. Well, more like a rough week if she was being perfectly honest with herself.

As stressful as her job in the emperor’s coven was, at least it didn’t require any physical labor. But she had no such luck with her new job.

After the emperor was rightfully defeated, and Kiki’s attempt at building her own empire was thwarted, she had been sentenced to community service. On one hand, she got off much easier compared to the likes of Terra Snapdragon or Odalia Blight. But on the other hand, it was still wildly unpleasant. The worst part wasn’t the jobs themselves, but the fact that she was now working under those she took a very strong disliking to.

The brats she had integrated herself in with when the Collector took over? They were now in charge. That one kid with the fake stubble especially seemed to enjoy it. The Golden Guard was now happily working as... something. She honestly didn’t know, and told herself that she didn’t care.

She didn’t even know why the Golden Guard was still taking up so much of her headspace. On the bright side, she was technically, mostly rid of him. She certainly didn’t have to listen to his voice as much as she used to. Still, she had multiple other brats to hear.

And speaking of which, there was one right now! The youngest Blight’s ship sailed overhead, seemingly ready to land. Kiki’s blood boiled slightly. Mainly from the thought that she’s wasn’t even able to fly one of those things when she worked in the coven. And now here was a petulant child flying one.

Broken Stories

Sometimes life doesn't work out the way you want it to. You're left with a vague sense of dissatisfaction, a wish that things had worked out better - or that they had worked out at all. You find yourself standing on uneven ground, unsure of yourself, no path forward, and you're just looking around. Will that next step be purposeful or will it just continue down a path that meanders pointlessly?

The envoy had returned to Ishgard. The official story was that he had fallen overboard during a dramatic storm but was rescued by a passing fisherman. When Katalin had hunted down that scholar in his private residence she had found him welcoming the envoy back, old friends comforting one another. The envoy, Clovis Lavallee apparently, had returned while she was in depths of the Astrologicum and was enjoying tea and scones.

The man remained annoying but he was able to provide details on his assistant Ratherson. Eloise's coin-counter was laid up in Whitebrim Front where he had actually fallen off a rampart and broke a leg - they were still tending to him there. Clovis claimed that the case he had been carrying was only some research notes and a book for a friend.

See? All simple and nice and wrapped-up. No weird glowing aetheric hands, no mention of quiet and drab people in the area, and ignore the fact that she knew damned well there hadn't been a storm.

So she reported back to Eloise and took a step towards a more neutral relationship there if not proper amity. In a couple of sennight she would go and check on the goblin pair and see if the blade was finished and how Glitzy's casino idea was coming along. It's just life going on, never-ending, not a story that needed wrapping up.

Mystery and wonders about visions and slippages between realities aside, all good. Keep on going, push through the hesitation and take a step forward to the next thing, get back into flow. Should be easy right?

Despite what the Legends might have you here darkspawn are actually very intelligent capable of casting magic making traps using strategies and tying knots this last fact was observed as empty soft free guards being hung by falling tree clearly an act of fear and intimidation and animal could never truly come up with on its own.

With every encounter amity's fear for these creatures grew covering themselves and makeshift armor wielding weapons this wasn't just some creatures filled with vile taint there was intelligence behind this it was almost as if they were getting commanded by something with someone.

This thought was completely forgotten as they were ambushed once again proving these creatures intelligence and significant danger that they posed.
