A Spot in My Life T | 953 words Prompt for @steddielovemonth: Love is keeping a spare sweater or blanket in the car because they always get cold
Steve Harrington is a bitch.
It's something that Eddie knew, all through high school, but he had thought that Steve had somehow became a new person- thanks to the Upside Down and constantly almost seeing the world end.
Steve isn't a bad guy, he can admit. He's still trying to keep an eye on everyone, make sure they're ok, even checking in with Eddie in his own way.
But he's very sly about it, hiding it being playful jabs, eye rolls and cocked hips.
It rubs him the wrong way. And it's only made worse by how much Eddie still likes him. It's as if the bitchiness only draws him in more, even as it makes his chest burn with irritation.
He tries to avoid Steve for as long as he can. He knows that finally befriending him like they both want will only end badly, but he knows he can't resist the temptation.
He enjoys the time before as much as he can, reveling in how often Steve will try to corner him so they can hang out, how much he whines and pleads and pushes. He enjoys the illusion that Steve could feel anything for him like he does for Steve.
And, when they finally do hang out, his fears are confirmed.
Steve is amazing. He's funnier than he comes across as at first too. He pays attention to what Eddie says and tries to get him anything he wants.
He's the type of friend that anyone would fight for, Eddie is sure. It explains how he ended up so popular in high school too.
If Eddie had known what Steve is truly like, he'd have been lining up for a scrap of his attention like everyone else.
"They're assholes," Steve explains, when Eddie finally asks about his old lackeys. "Tommy always took shit a step too far. I didn't need them. Probably shouldn't have befriended them in the first place."
"They were your friends," Eddie reminds him.
Steve sighs, leaning back. "Yeah, I guess. Just wish I'd realised sooner, how they were getting."
He never complains about the kids, not genuinely. In the quiet moments, when Steve is honest with an almost painful degree of vulnerability, he talks about how amazing the kids are. He talks about how honored he is to be friends with Dustin.
It only makes Eddies feelings inch ever closer to 'the L word'.
"You should talk to him," Robin suggests. "He really is amazing."
"I know, but... guys that are ok with lesbians still get weird about gay men, you know?"
"Yeah, but Steve isn't like that. Did he ever tell you the full story of how I came out to him?"
"It was after the Russian torture drugs, right?"
"We were in the bathroom, near the cinema. I thought we might have puked it all up, so we decided to test it, ask each other questions. So, I asked him if he was ever in love..."
"Oh... oh no."
"Oh yes. He liked me, told me so, and that's when I came out to him."
"Holy shit, Robin."
"But that's my point. He was a little surprised, sure, but he started making jokes, like, immediately. Didn't phase him at all. He got with it immediately. We're just friends, and that's not a problem for him."
Eddie groans, throwing his head back so it thumps into the wall behind him. "But that just makes him more hot!"
The story plagues his mind, to the point that it's the only thing he can think about when he picks Steve up for their next hang out.
In the dead of winter, Steve feels the cold worse than anyone else that Eddie knows. He runs hot, and the sudden temperature drops brings out the worse in him.
He's shivering when he climbs into Eddie's car.
"Fuck, why isn't your heating on?" He whines.
"It's broke," Eddie reminds him. "It's fine, don't worry."
"Don't worry? I'm gonna get hypothermia, Eddie! I don't want to turn into an ice sc- what is that?"
He takes the blanket that Eddie had reached back to grab, staring at it.
"It's a blanket."
"No shit, I mean... it's yellow."
"Yeah? You like yellow."
"You got this for me?"
"You see anyone else shivering in my van?"
"No, it..." Steve pauses, glancing at Eddie before slowly wrapping the blanket around himself. "Sorry, uh... thank you. This is, um, nice."
"it's nothing."
"It's not. Just- take the thanks, Ed."
"Alright, alright."
They're silent for the rest of the drive. It's so unusual for them that it has Eddie nervous, glancing at Steve every other moment.
When they finally pull to a stop, Eddie turns to Steve, who stays where he is. He stares out the front window for a moment, before turning to face Eddie.
"Are you alright?" Eddie asks.
"Yeah, I am. Enjoying the warmth."
"That all?"
"... yeah."
Eddie rolls his eyes. "You're a terrible liar."
"Wh- hey, I'm a good liar!" He tries to glare, but quickly backs down with a huff. "Alright, fine, but it's really sappy! Don't say I didn't warn you!"
"Oh, no, the horror."
"Shut up. I was just thinking about how, like... there's so many little things in your life that are for me. My tapes in your room, spare clothes in your closet, this blanket... I really appreciate it, man. You've made space for me in your life. It means a lot to me."
"Oh, right. That's... yeah. Of course, Steve. You're always welcome. I love- uh... spending time with you."
"Good. I love spending time with you too."
"Good."
"Great."
Steve's smile is wide and goofy. He's sure that his own is just as cheesy.

Listen. Listen. I need more swimmer Steve. I'm not a sports person but I need this. I need more jock Steve. I'm not American so forgive the details but.
One day, Steve, Robin, and Eddie all leave Hawkins together. Nancy's already gone off to take the journalism world by storm. Jon and Argyle are taking it easy, traveling, having a good time. And the kids are still in school.
Robin goes to college studying linguistics, and Steve goes with her on a swimming scholarship. Eddie doesn't know what he wants to do but he wants to be with his friends, and he doesn't want to be in Hawkins anymore. It's a plus that bigger cities have bigger metal scenes. Maybe he can convince Gareth and Jeff to come with him and see if they can really make something of Corroded Coffin.
Steve finds he actually kind of likes college. The swim team. It's different when you decide to go there willingly, with other people who also want to be there. And the swim team. He fucking loves it. He didn't realise how much he missed swimming, being on a team of actually nice fucking dudes who care about the sport. And they're good. But the kicker? So is Steve.
And he didn't really realise it until now. He knew he liked swimming, he knew his coach back in Hawkins likes him, he knew he got made co-captain. But a part of him started to wonder if people complimented him because he was popular and mean. If he got made captain because his dad was rich and influential. But here at college no one knows who King Steve is. No one can see his hair under his swim cap. He's just Steve, a good fucking swimmer.
He comes back from practice to his and Robin's apartment smelling of chlorine and his fruity shampoo, duffelbag slung over his shoulder. His wardrobe is slowly filling with more swim team shirts, hoodies, a professional track suit for meets. And so Robin and Eddie slowly steal his old Hawkins Swim Team shirts, wearing the soft worn cotton as pajamas.
Eddie isn't in college, doesn't want to be, but doesn't mind being dragged to the occasional college party. He got a job at a small hole in the wall music store, and has started up Corroded Coffin in the apartment he shares with Gareth and Jeff. (He stays over with Steve and Robin as often as he can).
Robin is acing her classes, is in Band, and has befriended a small group of other queer women. And you just know on swimming meet or competition days Robin is going to support Steve with Eddie and maybe some of her queer friends - all of them chanting Harrington. And Steve blushes, he's never really had people support him that much before. Tommy and Carol weren't the type ya know?
But now he has Robin, his best friend, love of his platonic life. He spots her wearing his old Hawkins Swim Team Captain sweatshirt with his last name on the back, cheering as loud as she can in the stands.
Next to her is Eddie, still dressed as metal as ever, smiling and laughing and happy to be there. Steve locks eyes with him and smiles when Eddie gives him a little wave, trying to ignore the swooping in his gut. He's bi, he's out, he knows what a crush feels like. He knows he's falling for Eddie but it would ruin him if he confessed to Eddie and got rejected, or they stop being friends or or or. So Steve keeps silent. But maybe he makes sure to stretch and flex his muscles when he knows Eddie's watching.
And Steve's team wins. And they keep winning. He goes to classes and studies with Robin, he goes to Corroded Coffin gigs to watch Eddie (because they're finding their feet in the local metal scene), they go to gay clubs together all 3 of them and walk home at 3am singing at the top of their lungs.
Steve swims laps alone in the dim light of the evening. And Eddie shows up. And they have their first kiss at the side of the pool, reflection of the water reflecting off their faces
Steve and his team make it to the big final competition. And he's nervous as hell. And him and his coach and the whole team agree that they're taking this fucking seriously. So they go for The Big Shave. Going full swimmer and shaving their bodies.
The three of them are all crammed into their tiny bathroom with a trimmer and a pack of razors. Steve shaves his face as normal, a tape playing faintly from the player in the living room. Next is Robin, who teaches Steve how to properly shave his armpits and his legs. Makes a lot of dumb jokes and helps him with the itching. He does a run through with the trimmer, then shaves his legs. Repeats the same with his arms and they help him with the tricky areas. They all agree its fucking weird. Last is the chest hair. The jungle. The one Eddie has been moaning about missing for a solid week. Eddie, who loves to run his fingers through the hair, rest his head on Steve's pecs as they rest in bed together. He gives Steve's chest hair a proper funeral and pretends to cry when Steve is all clean shaven. Robin is so used to Steve walking around the apartment shirtless that she keeps doing double takes whenever she sees him in the corner of her eye.
Competition day arrives, and the kids head up from Hawkins for a weekend in the big city. Chaperoned by Joyce and Hopper? Nancy and Jon and Argyle? idk? And sitting with Robin and Eddie. Steve's never had a crowd that big before. Never had people love and support him like that. He can see El and Will have crafted a sign. Lucas whoops. He knows Dustin's going to be making a joke about his bare chest and how he finally "tamed that jungle" and proceeds to try his hardest to cheer the loudest. And Eddie, his boyfriend, wearing a college swim team shirt underneath his leather jacket, following Steve with his eyes.
Steve and his team win, and he wants nothing more than to run to the stands and kiss Eddie senseless. He's missed him a lot, as Steve's training got more intense. Eddie would stay the night so they could snatch moments of time together but Steve would be awake and showering by 6am to eat and head to the gym. Kissing Eddie as he leaves, smiling fondly at Eddie's sleepy grumbles and mumbles, shuffling into the warmth of where Steve lay. But now he's here and swimming is over for the competitive season and Steve can relax. Take Eddie out on a date. Actually sleep in for once. Wake up with Eddie wrapped in his arms and then stay in bed until Eddie wakes up himself, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and snuggling into Steve's now bare chest.
I have so much to say and no words to say it with. AAAHHHHHH!!!!!! Robin and her queer friends carving out a corner to support Steve from! Whenever there’s a home meet everyone knows not to go to ‘those’ seats because Robin and Eddie could just stare with sad hopeless helpless eyes until the intruder leaves
Eddie mourning the chest hair!!! EXACTLY!!!! He writes an ‘in memoriam’ to Steve’s chest hair, frames it and places it next to Steve’s bed. He has another framed picture but its a drawing of Steve’s hairy chest by Eddie with the quote ‘do it for her’ underneath it. Steve doesn’t know if it’s a motivational prompt for himself or for Eddie and her too scared to ask
Robin getting really into checking out the other teams and seeing what dirt she can dig up so that she can make the competition feel a little less daunting for Steve. She always cheers loudly and obnoxiously and Steve adores her for it
Eddie coming to check in on Steve late night, he’s in the pool but he should be resting, should be at home. Eddie arrived to Steve and robins place only for Robin to announce ‘your boyfriend who isn’t your boyfriend isn’t here. Tell him I’ve made pasta when you see him. Oh and that you are in love with him, thanks so much’ Robin ends the sentence with a wide eyed teeth clenching smile and Eddie walks out the door.
Eddie finds Steve, sitting on the side of the pool, goggles tossed by the edge. Steve looks up and has as good as permanent indentations around his eyes and across his nose. His chest is heaving, hair and body wet. He’s a mess, he’s also the most beautiful person eddie has ever seen and it takes all his strength not to blurt it out. Maybe not tonight, maybe not ever, not if it means he might lose Steve. Eddie doesn’t think anything is worth that.
Steve being bullied into the edge of the booth as his hawkins family take him out for dinner. His heart is full knowing the most important people in his life are here to watch him do something he genuinely enjoys. They aren’t ridiculing him, they want to know about him, they want him to know they care.

Wrestler!Nat Headcannons
Tumblr media
Buff as hell
In-ring performance when she first started was a bit bad due to nervousness
Natasha didn’t have you there with her to cheer until Maria had befriended her and eventually, she also met Wanda
Natasha, Wanda, and Maria would intimidate other people walking around
When they're apart, It’s mostly Natasha while her other two faction members are friendly toward others in the business
Was mentored by the eradicator herself, Rhea Ripley.
Rhea felt pity for the woman after sitting with commentary on one of Natasha’s matches as she could tell the younger woman was nervous.
Natasha being a part of a little faction that had her, Rhea, and Liv Morgan.
Had all the Twitter gays foaming at the mouth each time they tormented the woman’s division.
Once Liv and Rhea decide to retire she befriended Maria to be her tag team partner in Raw
Natasha being over with the fans but popular with the gays.
Over as a heel is getting boos with the crowd
Her finisher is the Widow lock
She gets her opponent down on the ring floor, put one of her legs on the right/left of the opponent, and spins a couple of times until both their legs are wrapped together then makes sure the legs that are wrapped will go to their calf and then lay down with her leg straight up.
Takes out all of her opponents all the time.
Will also do a riptide like her mentor if the person she’s fighting is really pissing her off.
Her in-ring gear has red and black as the main colors
Shorts that show off her thighs because yes.
Tattoos on her legs so most of her gear is shorts/ a leather-ish top to show off the cool ones she has gotten over the years.
Gear more like a mix of what Liv Morgan and Rhea rhipley tend to wear.
They influenced her a lot
Her character is cocky as fuck and loves to cause chaos among the woman's division
Sometimes the men's division if Danvers wants to cause any drama
Once fought Steve and won while Bucky was holding in his laughter because Steve had said no woman has ever beat him in his career.
The In-ring gear is kind of like this sometimes too
She also buys body harnesses with her casual fits if she’s doing a promo or just on commentary for matches.
Natasha wears tank tops to show off her arms.
Outside of live show events or Live shows she keeps to herself and mostly talks to Maria or Wanda
Trains alone or with the other two members of the shield.

Still Loving You
Eddie stared at the woman before him and for a moment, he thought that he was hallucinating.
Even after ten years, she hadn't changed. It broke his heart a little that she was still as beautiful as he remembered.
"Stephanie?" Eddie said ridiculously, "What are you doing here?"
———
What would you do when your ex (fiancée) returns after disappearing for ten years?
Well, in Eddie's case, he might've gotten drunk, cried a little, and cried some more to get his point across.

Fools
Steve felt his ears heated up under those watchful eyes as he looked anywhere but at the other man, "You, ugh, you're a good person. It kinda shocked me when you don't have as many pursuers as I thought."
"You really think so, huh?" Eddie leaned into his personal space and ducked down slightly to catch his gaze, dark eyes gleaming with mirth and mischief.
"Yeah," Steve let out a quiet huff as he realized he had been teased, "I do think so."
"Am I still a good person if I kiss you right now?"
Steve breathed out softly, "Yeah, you still are."

Rotten Heaven
"D– Don't leave," Steve whispered, voice wavering like a falling leaf, eyes still stuck close, not wanting to see if the shadow was still a mass of black smoke or a gory monster with bloody razor teeth and sharp long nails.
It was wrong.
He knew it was wrong to beg for something so dangerous to stay. For all the kindness it showed him, it could've eaten him one day if he wasn't careful. But as much fear as Steve had for it, he also craved the tender touches and cold hugs it always gave him.
"Never gonna leave you, precious," the raspy voice sounded in his ears more clearly this time even if the pronunciation and accent still had a long way to go to be perfect.
And though it was a bad idea, Steve clung to those few words like a lifeline.

For the Steddie Ask Game: 5 & 11!
WOOOO OKAY I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD ASK #11 :D Thank you so much for the ask!
5. If they had pets what would they be?
So I don't think either of them had a pet growing up - Steve because his parents didn't want an animal shedding fur all over the house or causing a ruckus, and Eddie because by the time he wanted a pet he was already living with Wayne and the trailer's way too small for most pets. Eddie does, however, go out of his way to befriend the stray cats of the trailer park and leave food out for them; he's named them all and says they all have very distinct personalities.
Once they're living together and have their own place, however, they definitely get a dog. Steve has always dreamed about having a dog, something on the bigger side, that he can play with and take with him when he goes jogging at the local park. Eddie is fine with getting a bigger dog - he might be more partial to cats thanks to his devoted following of stray cats back in the trailer park, but he's one of those people who's partial to both - but they do have some arguments about what specific breed to get. It's settled when Steve says that Eddie's welcome to get a cat of his choice if he lets Steve choose what breed of dog they get - and that's how they end up with Maverick the labrador retriever (he's one of the chocolate-coloured ones) and Elvira the incredibly spoiled housecat (who's black with some white patches).
(Also, after a while, Eddie finally twists Steve's arm into letting him realize some of his more exotic pet dreams. Eddie absolutely gets a pet snake and he's in love with her.)
11. Which one would confess their attraction/love first? Why?
(Okay this post got super long because of my chronic case of can't shut the fuck up, so I'm putting my answer to this one under a cut lmao)
OOOOOOH BOY OKAY *rubs hands together gleefully* In terms of fic, I can read/write it going either way (depending on the AU/interpretation of the characters/events leading up to the confession) but assuming we're going with a classic post-canon "vecna's dead but everyone else is fine actually" type of setting...
I think Eddie is the one who confesses first, but he's not planning for it to be a confession. See, I'm a die-hard truther of Confident Bisexual Steve Harrington™, and let me tell you, the moment that man realises he likes Eddie he is laying it on thick. Sure, not as thick as he would with girls (because homophobia is a thing, and also he's not as sure-footed with seducing another guy as he is a girl) but he is absolutely hitting Eddie with the full power of the Harrington Charm. Eddie, who is really not used to being pursued by other men (especially not like this; usually if someone's pursuing him, it's in a gay club with the intention being a bathroom quickie) absolutely does not know how to handle this. Doesn't help that Eddie's got a tiiiiiiny little complex about being inherently unlovable/"too much" for other people and commitment issues as a result of that, so he's terrified of letting anyone get too close for fear they'll realise Eddie actually is too much and leave him.
So Eddie is being driven slowly insane by Steve's relentless charisma until one day he snaps and asks Steve what the actual fuck is going on here. Because he's so frazzled (and a little insane because of the Steve of it all), he accidentally exposes himself as being very into Steve in return. Steve is thrilled, tells Eddie that what's going on here is that he really likes Eddie, and how about they kiss about it and maybe go on a date sometime? (Plus or minus the miscommunication spice of Mr Commitment Issues Munson saying "oh but this is just a fuckbuddies thing right" and Steve going "oh god oh fuck- I mean haha yeah sure" and them having 20k words of angst about it before Sorting Their Shit Out™.)
I don't think Steve would take the plunge of actually confessing because he, too, has a complex about being inherently unlovable and not being good enough for just about anyone he cares about, really, but especially Eddie. Plus, he has a lingering fear that he bullied Eddie directly in high school and forgot about it, or that Eddie might have forgiven Steve for his asshole jock days enough to be his friend but not enough to be his boyfriend. He's confident enough in himself to flirt with Eddie, especially after the first few tentative tries get what look like positive responses, but he's absolutely not going to put himself out there without some plausible deniability. If Eddie wants him, Steve reasons, then all he has to do is make it obvious that he likes Eddie back and then Eddie will make a move, right?
These boys are So Clueless and have So Many Issues and I need them to kiss on the mouth about it.
Ask me about my Steddie opinions! (steddie-pinions?)

What Avengers line up (existing or selected by you) would you send to Greendale Community College for max hijinx and personal journeys? They can be 1-1 stand ins for the Community cast or just a general, “it would be funny/entertaining/sexy if this character had to deal with going to a bananas community college in Colorado with these other characters”. Or if you want! send an Avenger or 2 too spend a semester with the canon Community gang, MCU Tony hanging out with Troy&Abed, maybe Ults Steve talking the Shirley about god and their discomfort around The Gays™ or befriending Pierce and then punching him in the face after a while, Any!Carol and Britta NotDating but being put up on the blog “Sibling or Dating” then actually dating to Prove A Point and the messy break up
(Tony would make a good Jeff tbh, and canon or AU, I’d like to see Tony have to go take the general classes at a normal pace amongst the general populous OR other Avengers. I can see the Dean (or like say Nick Fury sr/jr) forcing him to not get any accelerated courses or special treatment so he has to attend every class and do the homework one week at a time, no doing it all in one day and just handing it in throughout! He in fact gets special treatment to not get special treatment cus the assignments are planned out for everyone else to see but Tony as special assignments he can’t pre-write lol.)
(( Why Tony needs to get a college degree and why THIS school? Maybe when he got into MIT as a teen he wanted to skip the general undergraduate year and bribed someone to let him just go straight to Engineering and the press found out and to save face his dad is making him get an undergraduate year one level amount of general credits the slow way at a not so prestigious school or he gets cut off publicly and Tony is like “pshaw, easy old man” and then there is much learning (emotional). But near of the academic year there has maybe not been much learning (academic) as Tony would crave (and also the “professors are often factually incorrect and the textbooks are from 1985) so he starts teaching his own classes in the library on a lark one episode and he gets in trouble with the teacher's union for teaching without being part of the union, this somehow leading to a strike and oops Tony's shut down the school right near exams (also there was a fire in the server room and all the marks and academic history got destroyed thanks to so,e whacky strike breaking attempts or something!) and now he’s gotta stay for another year cus NO ONE got their credits!!! And when they get back for season 2 I mean the next semester everyone is PISSED at Tony, who has to prove he DIDN’T cause the fire in order to stay an extra year because he’s attached to everyone and wanted to stay!))
(((Also, which Avengers is it? 616, Ults, MCU, a devilish mix of characters from different universes etc and what are they trying to achieve being at college? I assume Steve is trying to get used to the future/connect with the common man, Jan wants to take management or HR courses cus the Avengers NEED IT and SOMEONE has to learn how to do it properly, Myabe Jennifer is the Jeff/MC and Steve&Tony are her Troy&Abed (tho let’s be real they’re her Britta&Annie haha) etc)))
OMG thank you for this ask, there isn't an idea here that I wouldn't drop everything to read. In general this is a concept that would work really well with the Avengers because it allows everyone to be at different points in their lives and still connect with each other. Just imagine them all around the study table. It makes me Feel Things.
If I was doing a Community AU for the Avengers, I wouldn't do a one-for-one substitution but instead try to capture some of the dynamics. I also stuck with just Avengers characters and not Marvel characters in general. For the study group I'd do Ults!Tony as the too-cool-for-school type who is hiding a desperate need for human connection and quickly becomes overly invested in his friends lives. He's in community college because he was ordered to attend by a judge (seems just as possible as getting a law degree without an undergraduate). He chose Greendale because he wanted to take the Who's The Boss class. It would be a running gag that at least one member of the study group doesn't know he's one of the most famous people in the world.
MCU!Steve would be next. My favorite AU trope is when everything's different but Steve's still Captain America, except, like, it's a secret. I'm going with the MCU version because I think he's the most isolated Steve and I like the idea of him being defrosted and having nobody and then moving halfway across the country to restart his life. He never went to college and this feels like the 'normal' thing to do. He's prone to speechifying enough that he's regularly called 'the worst' (affectionate).
Then I'd add 616!Kate Bishop as my third member. She never went to college because she was too busy having an evil dad, a codependent friendship with Clint, and solving mysteries in LA. She enrolls in Greendale while hunting down a lead and then solves the mystery two episodes in, but by then she's committed to figuring out who the fuck this mysterious Steve is. She's too precocious for her own good and regularly volunteers the group for things.
616!America has transferred from Sotomayor University after a particularly messy breakup with an ex-girlfriend. After spending her life hopping between dimensions settling down at Greendale is kind of strange. She likes to threaten to punch people but really she's the most protective in the bunch.
Then let's go with 616!Pietro because you need an asshole that frusterated everyone but he is also well meaning. He's estranged from his daughter and is trying to better himself so that she might want to have a relationship with him. Constantly talks about his twin sister who's never seen throughout the show.
I chose MCU!Clint because you need someone with a real life outside of Greendale. In this AU he's actually trying to be undercover with his family and Colorado is far away from whatever villain is trying to hunt him down.
616!Riri is my last member because I wanted someone who's smart but unlike Tony, also sincere. While Kate and America are also pretty young, Riri's the one that makes everyone feel old. She's the hardest to make up a reason for why she's at Greendale. Maybe she's very close to completing a graduate degree but it turns out some of her undergrad credits were invalid so she needs to take a class and...I dunno. I'm still thinking about it.
Other characters who should show up are Ults!Thor (more righteous than Steve), 616!Sam (the reasonable one), 616!Jennifer (just having a good time), MCU!Carol (just because seeing Brie Larson would be meta), 616!Gwenpool (need someone genre aware), and MCU!Scott (obsessed with Steve.)
The whole thing starts when Tony spots Steve in a physics class he's taking because he thinks it's hilarious. He sells Steve on the idea of being his tutor but Steve invites everyone else. Hijinks ensue. No one figures out who Steve is until paintball.

Now now, we all know how Bucky's been in love with Steve (and known about his feelings) his whole life, but what about Steve? I've always swayed towards the theory 'Steve's been in love with Bucky his whole life as well, he only realised after Bucky fell from the train', but what if Steve's known he's in love with Bucky since their Brooklyn days? That would shed an entirely different light on his interactions with Miss Nazis Hirer and the whole 'right partner' talk
Going by canon, I think there must've been either: a declaration of mutual feelings, or; the first foray into a sexual relationship in their late teens, because one of Bucky's trigger words was 'seventeen', and Steve said he felt like a 16 year old again when he heard Bucky's name.
What's interesting is, at that time, and especially in that place*, there wasn't the idea that gay sex acts made you gay, because there were loads of 'straight' men around (eg. sailors.) going with other men just for sex. This was pre pill, pre sex-before-marriage for most, especially for Catholics like Steve.
So it might be that Bucky and Steve were doing the do with each other looong before either of them came to the realisation that they were also, coincidentally, in love.
I agree that Bucky, simply because he's exposed to dating women more than Steve is, has more of an opportunity to Realise before Steve. He'd have the benefit of being able to contrast his experience of feelings with Steve, with his experience of feelings for others, leading him to a lightbulb moment.
And he'd cover this up (and keep up the pretense of believing both he and Steve are really straight) by going out with girls in the meantime; in a period-appropriate gentlemanly way, not bedding them. Also to protect him and Steve from any potentially dangerous accusations.
I don't see Steve as not knowing precisely that he is in love with Bucky; I think he knew before the events of CATFA started, and it was a big part of his motivation for wanting to go to war.
But I do think it hadn't occurred to Steve that he might only be attracted to Bucky / men until after he got serum -- because, before then, his health would've been a limiting factor.
Before then, I can see him thinking 'well it's no wonder I have no libido like Bucky does around women, I'm just too unwell!' and not connecting the dots.
This would explain why he seems so panicked when sexual situations arise with women, after the serum; because he's realising 'oh shit! actually, I don't even like this when I have Perfect Health!' and hastily trying to backpedal himself out of an unwanted situation.
My HC is both of them thinking they're the only male-attracted one in the relationship and they're just engaging in sex acts together for convenience' sake but the other one's only going to keep doing it until he can get a girl.
So when Steve shows up all heterosexual-passing, looking like he can get any girl he wants, Bucky looks devastated because he thinks that signals the end of his physical (in his head unrequited romantic) relationship with Steve.
(But then between Peggy showing up and he and Steve going to the Continent together with the Howlies, Bucky mysteriously seems to perk up!)
By which point Steve, with his strong moral instincts and anti-Fascism, has come to the conclusion that if he's a physically perfect man, and he's still in love with and attracted to Bucky, then there must by definition be nothing wrong with feeling physically attracted to Bucky.
IDK if it makes it better or worse to imagine that they finally confessed to each other before the fall?
Maybe it'd be nice if they saved that for Post-WS, especially since Bucky might be then in even more doubt as to Steve's feelings for him. It's a common choice in fic for a reason!
There are two ways to read the 'right partner' talk Steve has with Peggy.
One is:
Steve's a straight man acting like an incel and attempting to pull pick-up artist tricks on Peggy which don't work, because she's not interested in him, and so doesn't take the bait (we only don't notice he's being a creep because Cevans and HA play it as benign, and because the writers, being themselves douchebags, don't realise what they've written; and probably wouldn't care even if they did.)
Two is: (particularly egregious if you flip the genders and imagine a woman saying this to a man)
Steve going out of his way to make it clear that he doesn't want to date, isn't interested in dating right now, while there's a war on, and finds women terrifying.
And yet as soon as he's fuckable, Peggy pulls a 180 and starts claiming she always liked him as he was, despite the fact that her actions directly disprove this; she didn’t ask him out when she had the chance and the encouragement.
Naturally, her arrogance leads her to the immediate assumption that if Steve is waiting for The One, then she must be the One to whom he was referring.
The fact that his wording either means he’s already found the One and is waiting for them, OR that he hasn’t met them yet, both exclude her from the running (since he’s known her a week) is...  immaterial. She never asks if he has his eye on someone, does she? Would Steve being already married stop her?
(You don’t say ‘I don’t want to date because I’m waiting for the One’ to the person who IS the One, or whom you suspect may be the One. This ain’t rocket science!)
And hey, did you notice, that Peggy is just so important and special and perfect that her sudden interest in Steve means that Steve's stated wishes are now irrelevant?
The staggering hubris of waltzing up to him to go ‘hey, by the way, one day... when all this is over... I will allow you to date me.’ 😘😌
Too bad he didn’t ask!
The fact that Steve explicitly told her he isn't interested in dating and didn’t specify he’d be interested in her is invalidated by his new looks and her desire.
Sheesh. These Carter girls sure are rapey as hell.
(Also, in characteristic NOT-A-FEMINIST Peggy Style, the first thing she does upon seeing Big Steve is yank a t shirt out of the hands of a waiting nurse, because Saint Poppins is apparently so good at everything without training or experience that she can do nursing better than an actual nurse, too? (Could be she's also being characteristically territorial, pissing a circle round her chosen prey.) While simultaneously, out of nowhere, affecting a  dumb ‘oh I’m so soft-and-feminine’ voice she didn’t have before?? Does that sounds like someone Steve ‘son of a nurse’ Rogers would admire? UGH.)
The irony of all this is ^ you can read Steve as 100% gay and not have to change a single piece of his characterisation or interactions with women at any point.
I've touched on this in other asks, but:
He never asks Peggy out when he has the opportunity; only when he knows it's too late and he won't be expected to follow through (due to him being dead.)
He never makes a move on any of the chorus girls or his female fans (no matter what those creeps M&M claim). Or Private Lorraine. Or Nat. He has to be nagged to make one on Sharon (while Peggy's body's barely had time to cool, and looks fine about never seeing her again lol!) But he goes out of his way to befriend Sam, and waay out of his way to get Bucky back.
Throughout all his films he's consistently assaulted by women, even friends, and never looks happy about it; he also never looks upset when he's rejected or cut off from women love interests, or when he's able to dodge flirting (by, eg. jumping out of a frickin' plane!?)
It's 'his choice', in his own words.
He seems his happiest with women in platonic situations, and only sad about them when it's a question of a shirked duty, a bereavement, or him feeling he's let them down; eg. when Nat dies, when his mother dies, when he's unable to deliver a promised dance to Peggy, etc.
(But it makes people uncomfortable to address this since many of his fans are female.)
But even marrying a woman (albeit the most OOC choice it's physically possible for a Captain America to make, not to mention that it involves abandoning our-Bucky alone in the future). It doesn't preclude Steve from being gay, since lavender marriages were hella common (doubly so for famous gay men).
He could be gay and still in a relationship with Bucky, and married to Peggy. I mean, he's guaranteed a wife who'll spend most of the time away at work, able to use her connections to squash any inconvenient press; and unable to out him or Bucky without ruining her own prestige. Perfect!
Still makes EG Steve a douchebag tho. 😒
.
*we know they frequented north Brooklyn, because Steve said 'I know this neighborhood!' while the Brooklyn Bridge was in sight behind him; but, they got the street angle wrong, cuz they made it look like the BKB has a street which looks right at it, when in fact the street with that famous view is of the Manhattan Bridge. The places Steve describes being beat up; a parking lot, alleyway, and diner, are also all places you'd go while you're Out, rather than where you live. So IMO Steve and Bucky lived somewhere near DUMBO, but not so far east that their view was of the Manhattan Bridge; either Brooklyn Heights or Downtown. So that puts them right in the heart of Gay Brooklyn (as in, Truman Capote had a house there, because Walt Whitman wrote a famous poem about there; that level of gay), next to the Navy Yard and Sands Street (gay cruising central) and they also frequented gay cruising mecca Coney Island (big burlesque hot spot).

Headcanons of Krel living on earth because he’s my favorite and I love him and I haven’t seen anyone do this yet so I feel like I have to
Tumblr media
^^^^^because of this very moment I love the idea of Mary and Darci befriending Krel.
Since Aja,Vex and Eli went back to Akaridion-5, Mother was destroyed, and Claire was busy with Trollhunting stuff, earth gets pretty lonely. So Mary and Darci adopt him into their friend group.
At first Krel was a little apprehensive to joining their friend group, but he quickly warmed up to it because, he, being Krel, loves the attention.
like I can totally see Mary and Darci taking Krel to like a mall or something and doing those like teen romcom movie shopping montages where he goes into a changing room and the girls judge the outfit until they find the perfect one.
I personally believe Krel would adopt a soft boy look, with like oversized button ups and t shirts tucked into jeans, but thats just me.
anyway, because he’s friends with Mary and Darci, Krel has a new found social popularity in Arcadia.
because of this, Krel would prolly get nominated for Spring Fling king and shit
I would say Krel wouldn’t really care about being nominated, but seeing how he cared so much about the science fair and the Battle of the Bands, he would definitely care
Steve is conflicted because he wants to be Spring Fling King, but he can’t mess with Krel like he did with Jim and Eli cause Krel is his girlfriend’s brother
Krel notices this and takes advantage of it to mess with Steve and actually tries to win.
like Krel would just dominate the contests, and his theme presentation would be the flashiest and most appealing and people would just generally like him, and that would really worry Steve
like Krel, with four arms would be really good at the Touch-a-Truck-athon or whatever its called.
Krel would prolly let Steve win anyway because watching Steve squirm and freak out over prolly losing the crown and not being able to do anything about it cause he's Aja's brother is much better than any highschool dance crown
also the school 100% asks Krel to DJ future dances and events to save money, and Krel absolutely loves it
He would also definitely do the school play. Seeing how much he enjoyed being in Toby and Eli's short film, and again, he loves the attention, he would totally be down
Also it would just be another chance to mess with Steve to be the lead.
Because of this, Ms. Janeth would do another Shakespearean play, but do one of those modern renditions. Like it's the same play just in a modern setting, to take advantage of Krel's Akaridion form like they did with Jim's armor.
If not in the play he would do stage crew/tech.
Like he would create elaborate settings for them using A5 tech and Ms. Janeth would adore it
moving on, because home life is pretty lonely with just the Lucy and Ricky for company, Krel loves to host his friends for parties and sleepovers and whatever
and since Krel lives in the coolest house on the block, they love coming over
He hosts girl’s night every other week with Mary, Darci, and Clarie (becauuse she deserves a fucking break)
since we’ve all agreed that Krel is 100% a gaylien, I love the idea that he casually comes out during a girls night
like Mary would be like “So Krel, are there any girls you like?” and Krel’s just like, “*snort* Girls? Who ever said I like girls?” and the others are like “….....?“ and Krel just rolls his eyes and says "I like boys, ladies” and they’re like “ooooohhhh, okay. Cool.”
So now they spend girls night talking about boys. Claire and Darci about their mans and Mary and Krel about cute boys.
One day the girls give Krel a little rainbow pin and Krel’s just like “what’s this?” And the girls tell him that it’s an earth symbol for the gays and he’s like “theres a symbol for that here? I didnt think it was that big of a deal. On A5 it’s pretty normal” and the girls explain why theres a symbol and he’s like “oh shoot wow, thanks" and he put it on his backpack.
He’s pretty confused the first time someone is homophobic towards him cause like that kind if behavior doesnt happen on A5 and hes just like, “why does this bother you? I hardly know you” and just brushes it off. Its doesnt really bother him, mainly cause he doesnt know the earth insults towards gay people so he doesn’t even realize, but if the girls (or Toby, or even Steve, too) catch anyone being homophobic towards their friend they will attack that asshole on sight. Especially Mary and Steve
Random person on the street: Ha, *slur*
Marry: WHAT DID YOU SAY TO HIM BITCH???
Krel: Marry its fine, it’s not that big of a dealoHSEKLOSANDGAYLENMARYGETOFFOFHIM
Marry: SAY IT AGAIN ASSHAT, I D A R E YOU
Claire and Darci: *trying to hold Mary back* maRY NO
Steve: THATS MY NINJA KICKING SPACE ANGEL GIRLFRIEND'S BROTHER BUTTSNACK I'LL END YOU
Toby: *now chasing after Steve to stop him* stEVE NO
Mary would 100% find out who the rando is and destroy their life on social media. Like she would leak their job, phone number, email, school/college (if applicable) to her thousands of followers and absolutely ruin them with no remorse. And honestly, good for her
Also whilst on the subject, Krel can not drive or cook for 2 reasons: 1. Hes gay and 2. He’s a prince so he’s never had to do either before
Like he can obviously do math but that’s it.
Proof? That one scene in Wizards when Douxie had him drive the airship. You know the one.
Coach Lawrence refuses to get in a car with him at Drivers Ed after the 3rd day Krel shows up.
Krel gets addicted to sugary coffee shop-esc drinks thanks to Darci. Not coffee cause we saw in 3Below Part 1 that he doesnt like coffee, but refreshers, coolattas, frappuccinos etc…? Definitely.
As for warm drinks, he’s more of a tea person.
Moving on
He face calls Aja everyday because he really misses her
He tells her all about school and his friends and whatever and Aja tells him about the changes she’s making to the A5 government
Thanks to the wormhole they visit each other often. Sometimes Steve tags along cause he misses his ninja kicking space queen angel girlfriend. (And Eli, but that's also for another post)
They take turns housing Luug.
Krel genuinely loves it on earth, but he hates the primitive technology so he begs Aja to send him supplies and materials for his projects.
He would 10000% apply to HexTech for an after school job. Seeing his reaction to HT in Wizards and the fact that “Akaridion tech and magic are so compatible”, he would be the perfect addition to the HT staff.
The Wizards wouldn’t be sure at first but after he shows them A5 tech and Douxie’s email of recommendation about the time loop thing they made together, the wizards are like “oh yeah we definitely keeping this kid. This is going to be so much fun.”
Their inventions become more and more extravagant because Krel can and he's just extra and the wizards love it.
He would definitely find a way to use magic using A5 tech. But he would have to study magic in order to figure out how, so the wizards help him learn all about magic. And since he's learned everything there is to learn about science and technology and whatever, he's super excited to learn about something completely different and interesting. The wizards are happy to teach him. He would be the first Akaridion to learn and use magic
Like he would make his own staff with his serrator and everything. He's like "earn a staff? Nah fuck that going to make my own"
Speaking of which he really likes human swear words. But he doesnt know when it is and isn't inappropriate to say these swear words so he's gotten in trouble a few times for swearing at the wrong time
For example:
Ms. Janeth: excuse me Mr. Tarron?
Krel: what the fuck do you want?
Everyone in the room: krEL NO
Anyway, back to Krel at HT, thanks to Toby, he would definitely have a bowl of candy in his little lab. More like multiple jars of different candy just scattered around the room. Small candy like fun sized chocolate and skittles and jelly beans and whatever
And a mini fridge, of course.
Steve, Toby and Arrrgh come over to the lab alot to mess around.
Toby has a lot of sci-fi requests for Krel to make
Toby: do you think you can make a shrink ray? Laser blasters? Invisible ray? My own hoverboard? My own serrator *gASP* WITH A WARHAMMER SETTING???? WITH SPACE ARMOR TO MATCH???!!!???!
Krel: Toby you already have a warhammer and armor why do you need more?
Toby: I dont have a space warhammer and armor Krel!!!!!!
Going back to school life, I feel like Krel would take an interest in Spanish class. I mean, his human form is latino and in Trollhunters (I'm pretty sure the lightning in a bottle episode) he said "Si" in response to a question someone asked him, so I feel like he would like to learn another human language.
I also feel like he would just like to learn about Latin American culture in general since Mother gave him that form. He'd like to get in touch with his human self.
Claire (when she isnt busy Trollhunting with Jim and the gang) is happy help him learn about Latin American culture and help him with his Spanish.
Krel, being a fast learner, becomes fluent quickly with a perfect accent.
Señor Uhl, who already liked the Tarrons to begin with, would really appreciate this.
Claire's dad would also appreciate this.
Since he has such a fascination with human music, Krel would especially love Latin American music. Specifically reggaeton, since its kind of like techno music in a way and he already likes techno music.
And naturally, he learns to dance. All the styles of latin american dances. And he becomes quite the favorite on the dance floor.
He and Claire become great dance partners cause they both have the natural Latino rhythm and because Jim respects and trusts his girlfriend he doesnt mind them dancing together at parties and stuff
Although, Jim does ask for dance help at some point cause it looks like fun and he wants to dance with his beautiful talented incredible amazing gf and Krel is happy to teach him and anyone else who wants dance help.
GUITAR LESSONS with Douxie cause in 3Below Krel said he really wanted to learn how to play guitar, steals Shannon’s guitar from the bonfire and is seen multiple times strumming it throughout the series. So of course this is included.
Toby introduces Krel to YouTube and Krel instantly makes his own channel.
of course his channel is called DJ Kleb and he posts his tracks and remixes. and maybe even some vlogs
its a little slow at first, only Arcadia Oaks students are subscribed to it but Mary blows it up by posting one of Krel’s tracks on her own social media and now he has thousands of subscribers
he also gained other forms of social media like Instagram and Tiktok, platforms to post his music
At this point every girl in school wants to be friends with Krel but not in the toxic GBF (gay best friend) way, girls just genuinely think he's 10x more interesting than every other boy in Arcadia Oaks
I think that's it for now sorry this is really long I just really love Krel and I had so many ideas. Feel free to add on!!

I used to be seventeen.
Character: Steve Rogers x Tall!Reader – High School AU
Summary: Steve Rogers doesn’t think fondly of his teenage years. Well, there was one thing he did remember fondly – or, more specifically, one person.
Word Count: 4,300 - One Shot
Warnings: Bullying, homophobic themes
Tumblr media
Steve always hated coming back home. Yes, he loved seeing his mom and friends. But even the glamour of the holiday glow couldn’t get rid of the bitterness Steve held for his hometown.
He didn’t know how Bucky convinced him to meet him at the one of the town’s few bars. But there he was, walking into the divey establishment. To be fair, it did feel cozy with all the wood and the hundreds of Christmas lights that probably had nothing to do with the holiday season.
Steve was grateful when he spotted Bucky at the bar, not wanting to be the first to arrive.
Before he made it to Bucky, he felt someone jump on his back in an involuntary piggyback.
“Who could this possibly be?” Steve joked when he heard the giggle in his ear.
They jumped down, and he turned to find Rebecca Barnes smiling up at him.
“Stevie! I haven’t seen you since last Christmas! What the fuck?”
Steve narrowed his eyes. “I believe Bucky and I have both invited you to New York multiple times.”
“I know. I know. It’s just hard getting enough days off of work to make the trip from San Francisco worth it.”
“I hear ya,” Steve said as he pulled her in for a proper hug.
They both made their way to Bucky and ordered some drinks.
Bucky and Steve had both lived in New York City after college.
Steve had gone to SAIC in Chicago for art school. Bucky had gone to Columbia for engineering.
They both hated the 4 years where they were apart. Bucky told Steve that he would love New York City and convinced him to move into a place in Brooklyn together after college graduation.
Bucky enjoyed going home to their small town. It didn’t hold the bad memories for him like it did for Steve. It was all healthy nostalgia and a place of comfort to him. He had been popular, a jock. Even though he was smart and nice to everyone, he was a golden boy at their high school.
Why Bucky ever befriended him was still a mystery to Steve.
Steve’s high school experience was rather different. His puberty was delayed. He was short and scrawny. He preferred the arts over sports. He was on the shyer side. All of these things mixed together apparently made him an easy target for the bullies. Not even his friendship with Bucky Barnes could save him.
It hadn’t usually happened in front of Bucky. And if it did, he stopped it countless times. But no matter how hard he tried, Bucky couldn’t put a stop to the bullying completely nor could he be Steve’s full-time body guard.
That time was past Steve now.
But he still hated coming “home.” Besides his mom, there was nothing left for him in this stupid town. The only people he stayed in contact with from that time were Bucky and Rebecca, and he lived with Bucky now.
“We’re doing tequila shots!” Rebecca cried out.
“Dear God, Becs. Calm down,” Bucky groaned.
“Nope! The three of us haven’t been together in forever. We must get properly wasted. Tis the law.”
Bucky gave Steve a look and just shrugged with a smile. It wasn’t like they had to work tomorrow. It was Christmas Eve and they were technically both on vacation for the holidays for the whole week.
An hour later, Steve was happily buzzed. Rebecca was talking to friends she had kept in touch with after high school. Steve and Bucky kept to themselves. Every so often someone would come over and say hi to Bucky.
No one said hi to Steve.
He couldn’t figure out if it was because they didn’t care to or because they legitimately didn’t recognize him.
Steve was a different person since high school. He finally had his growth spurt during his freshman year of college, now standing at 6’1. And it seemed his body decided to actually hold a few pounds instead of keeping his frame stick thin. On top of that, Steve started taking his health to a new level. Bucky would tease him that he looked more like he was a Big 10 football player than an art student. The beard probably didn’t help his past peers from recognizing him either.
Bucky was in the middle of telling Steve about his most recent date when the bells chimed, signaling a new person entering the bar.
Steve did a double take when he instantly recognized her.
He swore his heart dropped to his stomach.
Bucky caught his friends expression and how he was staring over his shoulder. He quickly turned around to see what Steve was gawking at.
“Oh, Jesus,” Bucky muttered under his breath.
Y/F/N Y/L/N.
Steve would never forget her name, even with his passionate efforts to forget all of high school.
There was a cry of cheers from a group of girls at her arrival. Steve recognized them as her friends from back in the day. They were some of the few people that hadn’t harassed him. They seemed to pity him…just like she had.
Y/N looked amazing.
She stood out for multiple reasons. The first being her height. But Steve noticed she wasn’t slouching like she had in high school, always trying to make herself appear smaller and getting down to everyone else’s level. Now her shoulders were back and her head was held high. Then he noticed the heeled booties. She had never even considered wearing heels when she was in high school. Now she wore them proudly.
The second reason was her clothes. They were far too stylish for their small, close-minded town. But she didn’t seem to notice the second glances or the judgmental looks.
The final reason was because she was beautiful. At least, Steve had always thought so. Turned out, even after 10 years, Steve’s heart still beat a little faster when he saw her.
“You’re staring,” Bucky pointed out.
Steve cleared his throat and forced himself to look away from Y/N as she hugged all of her friends and had a beaming smile.
“Shut up,” he muttered as he took a big gulp of his drink.
“Why don’t you go say hi?” Bucky asked with a mischievous smirk.
“As if she’d even remember me…” Steve mumbled.
“I wouldn’t be so sure about that.”
Bucky didn’t push him more and kept talking.
But Steve was thrust back into memories he hadn’t repressed for quite some time. But seeing Y/N just thrust them to the forefront of his mind.
———————
Steve was struggling to put all his sketches back in his folder as he rushed through the halls. There were just a few finishing touches that needed to be made on one of them when the bell rang. Now he was going to be late to his next class.
He was about to turn the corner when someone slammed his books and folders out of his grasp. His jaw dropped as he saw dozens of his loose sketches go flying around the hall.
He looked up to see his assailant.
Brock Rumlow.
Next to him was his best friend, Jack Rollins, and a few of the other guys on the football team.
Steve ignored them and crouched down to pick up the papers, taking the higher ground for once. He wasn’t in the mood and he didn’t want to get another tardy. Nor did he want to get another detention for fighting.
But Brock wasn’t letting him go so easily. He crouched down and picked up a drawing. It just happened to be one of Bucky. Steve had asked him to sit for him a couple of weekends to practice his portrait drawing skills.
“Fucking Christ! You really are in love with him. I don’t understand why Barnes lets your gay ass hang out with him,” Brock growled before ripping the drawing into pieces.
Then he picked up another one, it was of a woman. But just her lips and down to her clavicle. Steve prayed Brock wouldn’t recognize who it was based off of. He should, if his crush on Y/N was as strong as he pretended it was. In Brock’s mind, she belonged to him despite her never reciprocating the feelings.
Steve didn’t want that one to get ripped up.
He lunged forward, trying to grab it from Brock’s grasp.
This was exactly what Brock wanted. He picked on people he knew he could beat to make himself feel strong.
Before Steve could even tackle Brock to the ground, he pushed Steve to the ground so hard that Steve’s head slammed back onto the hard tile, even blinding his vision for a moment.
“Is that a fucking joke, Rogers?” Brock laughed at him
Then he reached for Steve’s collar and pulled him onto his feet again.
“You really think you could even land a hit on me?” Brock whispered. He raised his hand to hit him, most likely in the gut. Brock seemed to like watching Steve keel over in pain.
“Brock!” A voice screamed from behind Steve. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”
Steve stopped breathing when he recognized the voice.
Y/N.
“What?” Brock asked innocently and immediately let Steve go.
“I saw what you did,” Y/N accused, making sure to put herself between Steve and him.
“He was asking for it,” Brock shrugged. “He was walking to class, asshole.” She glared at him. “Just because your shit got rocked on the football field last game doesn’t mean you can just take out your embarrassment and anger on another person.”
“Whatever,” Brock rolled his eyes and then walked away with his friends. But he gave Steve a final glare that said, ‘You’re lucky this time.’
Y/N finally turned to look at Steve. “Are you OK? I saw how hard he shoved you.”
“I-I’m fine,” Steve stuttered.
“Are you sure? Maybe you should go to the nurse. I really think you could have a concussion.”
But Steve just shook his head.
Y/N sighed but didn’t continue arguing. Instead, she started helping him pick up all his papers.
“You’re really good at drawing,” she said as she looked at a portrait of his mom before handing it to him.
Steve blushed. “Thanks.”
The bell interrupted them.
“Shit,” Steve cursed under his breath. “I’m gonna be late again.”
“What class are you going to?” She asked.
“Math.”
She bit her lip. “With Foster?”
He nodded.
“I’ll walk you there.”
Before he could protest, she grabbed one of his folders, the one with all of the drawings and started walking towards Mr. Foster’s classroom.
The class had already started when they walked in.
Steve’s cheeks blushed once again as all eyes in the classroom went to him and Y/N.
“Y/N, what brings you here?” Mr. Foster asked pleasantly instead of reprimanding Steve for being late once again.
“I ran into Steve in the hallway – literally. I made a mess of his papers and was just helping him pick them up.”
Steve watched as she gave him a shy smile and played up her guilt.
“Well, that was nice of you,” Mr. Foster said.
Steve went to his seat before he could remind his teacher that he wasn’t on time. He looked up at the doorway to give Y/N a thankful look, but she had already disappeared and the door was slowly closing.
And that wasn’t the last time she saved him from bullies.
The next time was a month or so later. It wasn’t Brock that time. He’d learned not to pick on people while Y/N was present. He knew he’d never gain her affections that way.
This time it was one of his lackeys.
“Hey, Rogers? Can’t find any clothes that fit you properly?”
Steve ignored him.
“Have you tried looking in the little boys section? Maybe try Babies R Us!”
That didn’t make Steve turn around. What made him turn around was the sound of someone being shoved into the lockers.
Steve whipped around, fully expecting Bucky to be his savior.
Instead it was Y/N, who had her forearm crammed against his bully’s throat. Y/N was towering over him. She was taller than most of the boys in their school. But somehow no one picked on her for it.
“What the hell?” The kid said, struggling to say words with the pressure on his throat.
“I hear you pick on him again and I’ll make sure the whole school sees me kick you in the dick,” she told him.
Steve was stunned, convincing himself he was imagining all of it.
But the kid nodded his head.
Y/N knew none of the guys would ever hit a girl. Even if they wanted to, she was taller and probably stronger than most of them. So she used that privilege to her advantage.
She let him go. A group of her girlfriends laughed at the bully as she returned to them. Before she disappeared down the hall, she gave Steve a small, reassuring smile.
Steve wondered if she felt the same way about being tall as he felt about being short. Maybe that’s why she felt the need to defend him.
But Y/N’s attention toward him didn’t stop there.
Steve wouldn’t consider them friends. But Y/N did acknowledge him at school quite frequently. If she managed to meet his gaze, she’d give him a little smile and maybe a wave.
When Bucky caught on, Steve waited for him to tease him about it, since Bucky could tell Steve’s crush immediately. But he gave Steve his space and they never really fully talked about it. It was just known from then on.
————
Steve’s mind raced through all his memories like flashes. But then it seemed to settle on the last time he ever talked to Y/N.
————
It was the night of prom.
But Steve wasn’t there.
Bucky begged him to tag along with him and his date. But Steve knew Dot would not be fond of that, despite her forcing a smile and nodding when Bucky recommended it.
So Steve decided to go to a coffee shop. It was one of the few places he liked in their stupid town. It was open late and had plenty of space. Every once in awhile, he’d go there to just sketch or read. It was just an excuse to get out of the house and go somewhere.
Now he sat at in his usual corner that had good lighting and a bigger table, which was good for drawing.
Steve was listening to music, drinking coffee, and sketching away.
But for some reason, a new patron coming in made him look up.
He did a double take when he recognized Y/N.
She walked in and looked a bit like a tomboy. She was wearing boyfriend jeans, a graphic tee, a baseball hat, and a zip-up with the hoodie pulled up. Yet Steve recognized her immediately.
He tried not to stare, but definitely wasn’t successful. He watched as she ordered a latte and two chocolate chip cookies.
Why wasn’t she at prom?
She turned and her eyes were going around the coffee shop, trying to find a table she wanted. That was when she spotted Steve.
With her latte and cookies in hand, she slowly made her way to Steve.
“Hey,” she said quietly with a smile, as if not to disturb the few other customers.
“Hi,” he responded.
For the first time, he didn’t feel ridiculously nervous talking to her.
“Do you mind if I sit for a bit?” She asked.
Steve was shocked.
“You can say no. I won’t be offended,” she laughed.
“N-No, of course. Please, sit.”
She smiled and sat down.
“Shouldn’t you…uhh…be at prom?” Steve asked shyly.
Y/N let out a breathy laugh. “Well… no one asked me.”
Steve’s brow furrowed. That seemed impossible. “That can’t be true.”
She rolled her eyes will a smile. “Think about it, Steve. Yeah, I have some guy friends I could’ve gone with…but they all have girlfriends.” She took a sip of her latte. “It’s fine. I don’t really like dances. I only really like the whole dressing up part.”
Then she looked down at her tomboy outfit and started laughing. “Not that you would know by how I’m dressed right now. I look like a little boy.”
Steve smiled. “No, you don’t. You always look beautiful.”
Y/N sat up straighter, completely taken by surprised from his compliment. Steve shifted in his seat and dipped his head. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable…”
“You didn’t make me uncomfortable,” she replied with a grin.
He let out a sigh.
“So, why aren’t you at prom?” She countered.
“Ummm…doubt anyone would’ve said yes if I had asked,” he mumbled.
Y/N squinted at him.
“What?” Steve asked.
“You do realize that you’re like the sweetest guy in our grade, right? I know so many girls who didn’t get asked that would’ve loved to have gone. And they would’ve been more than happy to have gone with you, too.”
Steve blushed. “Whatever you say.”
Y/N then looked around them shyly. “Do you mind if I just stay here and read my book? I won’t bother you. You can just keep drawing.” Then she smiled at him. “Again… you can say no and I won’t be offended.”
“No, no, no,” Steve quickly said. Then he winced. “I mean, ‘no, I’m not going to tell you no.’ Not ‘no to your offer.’”
Y/N smirked at his fumbling.
So the two of them sat together in a comfortable silence. Y/N read her book and Steve continued his drawing.
He wanted to ask her a million things. He wanted to get to know her. The real her, not the the person everyone at school thought she was. But this – this whole just appreciating each other’s quiet presence was nice too. Steve didn’t know how to explain it, but it made him think it was more meaningful than asking her a million questions.
At one point, she pushed her plate toward him, silently offering him her other cookie.
That was the last time Steve talked to her.
He saw her at graduation, but they were never close enough for any sort of interaction. She was surrounded by her friends and family. He was just with his mom and the Barnes family.
————
And that was it.
They both went off to college and Steve never saw her again.
Until tonight.
The bar got a bit more crowded. But Bucky, Rebecca, and Steve stayed in their little area. Every so often, Rebecca and Bucky would get pulled into other groups of old friends, but they’d always find their way back. Steve didn’t mind.
It was towards the end of the night when Steve went to the bar to get another round of drinks for them. He was very happily buzzed. The miserable feeling of being back in his childhood town was just a bit weaker – for the time being.
“I don’t know why I expected you to come over and say hi. You always were so shy.” A voice said beside him.
Steve quickly turned to find Y/N leaning on the bar waiting for his attention.
“Hi,” was all he managed to blurt out.
“Hi,” she laughed. “I gotta be honest: I almost didn’t recognize you.”
Her eyes went up and down, taking in his tall frame. She used to tower over him. Now, even with her heels on, he was just a tad bit taller than him.
He chuckled awkwardly, never knowing what to say when people noted how much he’d physically changed.
“Can I make up for it by buying you a drink?”
She smirked and nodded. “You may.”
They chatted for a bit, friendly banter. Before Steve could use Rebecca and Bucky’s drinks as an excuse to leave the conversation, Becca practically came skipping over to take them away and return to her brother. She gave Steve a look that said, ‘Don’t you dare try to leave this conversation, idiot.’
“So what are you doing now? Where do you even live?” She asked Steve.
“New York. I’m an artist,” he decided to keep it generic.
“No way. I live in New York, too.”
Steve paused. “No shit? I’m in Brooklyn – Williamsburg, actually.”
“Ahh… Well, that would explain why we’ve never run into each other. I’m in Nolita.”
“So trendy,” Steve teased. “Though, I’m not surprised.” Then he gestured towards her outfit.
She acted offended. “And what is that supposed to mean?”
“You were always stylish. Nolita suits you. It’s a compliment, I promise. What do you do for work?”
She hesitated for a second. “I’m a stylist.”
“No shit,” Steve said in awe. “Like celebrities or…?”
“Yeah, a lot of celebrities, actually. They’re pretty much all of my clientele.”
“I’m sure you’ve got some crazy stories,” he pointed out.
She laughed and shrugged.
“You seeing anyone?” Steve asked then. “In New York, I mean.”
It didn’t feel awkward or forced, just like it was the natural next step in their conversation.
Y/N winced slightly and sighed. She didn’t look him in the eye. “Being a tall, successful, and independent woman doesn’t exactly have men lining up in New York City…”
Before Steve could say anything, Y/N laughed. “It’s like prom all over again,” she joked.
But he wasn’t laughing exactly. “Well then, I think the same thing I did that night at the coffee shop.”
She tilted her head. “And what’s that?”
“Men are fucking idiots. All of them.”
She threw her head back and laughed. “Even you?”
“Oh, me more than any of them.”
“What! Why would you say that?”
Then his laughter died down and he took a sip of his drink, a little liquid courage. “Because…if I had known no one had asked you to prom, I would’ve taken you – in a fucking heartbeat.”
“You didn’t know,” she pointed out in a sigh. “But you did know so many other girls who didn’t have dates.”
He shook his head. “They weren’t who I wanted to go with.”
Her smile dropped ever so slightly, catching on to what he was trying to say.
Y/N cleared her throat. “We probably shouldn’t live in the past. It’s not like it would do us any good.”
“But I’m the same person,” Steve challenged suddenly.
She looked at him, waiting for him to say he was joking. “You’ve probably changed more than anyone we went to high school. I mean, look at you!”
Y/N grabbed her coat and Steve stood up without thinking and helped her back into it. The gesture seemed to catch her off guard.
Then they realized how close they were standing to each other because of it.
“You didn’t ask me,” Steve said quietly.
Her eyes flickered from his eyes down to his lips without meaning to. “Ask you what?”
“If I was seeing anyone…”
She sort of scoffed at the idea. “I’m sure you’re seeing many people, Steve.”
“That’s not even remotely accurate,” he chuckled lowly.
Her eyes softened then. “You’re one of the good guys, Steve Rogers. And sadly, the older I get, the more I realize how few of you there really are in the world.”
Steve didn’t know how to respond to that.
A beat passed between them. It was filled with opportunity. Make a move, a part of his head was screaming at him. No, don’t be an idiot, was the other part.
And then the moment passed just as quickly as it arrived. And Steve missed his chance.
“Well, it was really nice seeing you again,” she told him.
“You too, Y/N.” He blinked. “Here, let me get you an car home.”
“Oh, you don’t–”
“If I hadn’t been drinking, I’d drive you myself,” he cut her off before she could actually argue.
5 minutes later, he was closing the passenger door for her and he watched the car drive away.
When he walked back into the bar, Bucky and Rebecca were giving him a sympathetic look. They already knew he let her go without trying. Because they knew him better than he knew himself sometimes.
“Don’t,” he warned them both.
“I think…we should do another round of tequila shots!” Rebecca announced.
“Fine. But then we’re going home before I have to carry you back home over my shoulder,” Bucky warned his little sister.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever,” she shooed as she went to the bar.
Steve was quiet for the rest of the night, thinking about everything Y/N and him had said to each other that night.
---------------
Steve woke up the next morning with the worst headache of his life. That’s what he got for drinking the world’s cheapest alcohol.
When he grabbed his phone from the nightstand, he noticed he had a text from a number that wasn’t in his phonebook.
He opened it to read: “Barnes told me to text you so you didn’t ‘make the same mistake twice.’”
Steve swore his heart stopped. There was no one else it could be .
With a smile, he texted back, “I’m gonna beat that punk up later.”
To his surprise, she texted back right away. “So, are you saying he was wrong to give me your number?”
Steve thought for a moment. “No, he was definitely right to do so. Apparently, I’m incapable of doing anything for myself.” He hesitated. Enough of being safe and careful. Might as well go for it. “As soon as I closed that car door, I regretted not asking for your number.”
“You know...we don’t have to just be people from each other’s past.”
“What are you doing for New Year’s Eve?”
“Nothing.”
Steve smiled. “Well, that’s not the case anymore. I’ll see you in NYC, Y/N.”
-----------------
So, a lot of the reader was basically me in high school and a lot of it was not. I’ll let you guys figure that out for yourself.
Let me know what you thought of it!
Oh the title was inspired by “Seventeen” by Sharon Van Etten.

Stranger Things 4 Analysis and Theory
I don’t know if anyone else has done posts on this stuff yet (it’s really likely, but i’d not want to take the credit if i’m not the only one who’s thought of this)
I know @kaypeace21 has made tons of posts on the s4 movies from Video Store Friday, and many others have theories and analyses, but back in July I took it upon myself to research more into the very last few scenes of s3. Specifically the three months later time stamp, where Steve and Robin are in search for a new job.
My main focus was the four movies that they mentioned for Keith at the counter. “Animal House”, “The Hidden Fortress”, “Children Of Paradise”, and “The Apartment”.
(reminder that if you read this, it could be spoilers for the final cut of the actual show if i end up being correct about some of this, so read at your own risk)
My first theory, which I’ve already discussed in a separate reblog, is about The Hellfire Club. But i’ll say it here too.
Basically,
Tumblr media
(sorry for the sucky quality)
Animal House is about two awkward freshmen going into college and joining a fraternity of rejects. It matches Mike, Dustin and the Hellfire Club perfectly! Personally, my lowkey theory is that they’re going to have to go though an entirety of initiation activities (possibly drugs too, if what we’ve heard is correct) and Lucas and Max will be in their own storylines up until the supernatural threat brings them back together again. This could be wayy off, but still its my idea.
As for Max and Lucas...
Tumblr media
I’m not sure about the entirety of the plot of this movie, but the last line sounds a lot like something that would happen between Lumax. Lucas is a basketball jock now, I think that’s crystal clear now seeing from the Pep Rally poster, and how he’s always been the one in the group to be able to mask his nerdy side. For Dustin and Mike, I know it’s much harder for them. Anyways, Max, I’m pretty positive by now, is going to be extremely distant and defensive from everyone just like she was in the beginning of s2, since she just had a big change happening in her life. It’s the same now, except with the grief and loss of Billy. My guess, from the hints of this movie and other stuff, is that Lucas is going to come face to face with his reputation as a popular kid, and his love for Max. Like the summary says, he must decide between the advancement of his career or the girl that he loves. Real hard hitting stuff.
Onto the next one. MIKE WHEELER. (or will byers)
Tumblr media
I watched an analysis video on this movie, because I haven’t seen it yet, but again the very last line is what I’d like to focus on.
My. Jaw. Dropped.
I’ve read many analyses of Mike Wheeler being gay (courtesy of @kaypeace21 @hawkinsschoolcounselor and MANY others), but I dunno, I was always just so skeptical no matter how much it made sense. But when I saw this WHAT THE HELL?!?’);/&? It’s stupid of me to not have believed it sooner, but I hope this is the movie that foreshadows Mike’s storyline this season. I’m assuming Mike will have to “prove his expertise in battle”, or perhaps prove he can go through with all of the initiation shit for The Hellfire Club, while hiding his growing revelation that he might be gay/bisexual.
BUT a possibly more likely scenario would be that this movie connects with Will Byers’ storyline this season instead. Perhaps the hardships of a new school and a new town has Will shaken up, and he also has his sexuality awakening that he has to hide from new people. I say that it’s more likely for him, because Will has always been more heavily queer-coded (not exactly heavier, but just extremely much more apparent and obvious opposed to Mikes queercoded subtext that we really had to dig for).
I also didn’t mention this in my reblog from earlier, but I want to address my opinions on the apparent cheerleader that meets Mike and befriends one another. One of my friends on twitter said Chrissy (her name, or so we think lmao) might be a key component to Mike being able to discover and come to terms with his sexuality. But then again, a different friend of mine thinks that the amount of content were getting is oddly suspicious, and that the Duffers are feeding us all the wrong information to lead us to all the wrong conclusions. But, at this point, why not both. At the moment, everyone thinks that Chrissy is Mikes new love interest, but what if she really isn’t, and they’re pulling a Robin on us (i call it a robin because it was technically straight-baiting in s3 LMFAO). I’m not saying that she might be a lesbian (although 👀 it says on her character info that she’s 18 (robins got some game to work with now ahaha)) but it could be a straight-bait up until she helps Mike realize his sexuality (i would have said realizes his love for Will😍😍 but recently ive been trying not to input byler into everything i fucking say, so theres how that’s going). Anyways. Last movie!
Now, I’m currently not super concrete on this one to be completely honest. I have a few in mind...
Tumblr media
Okay, so don’t attack me, but this could possibly be a mileven storyline. It sort of fits. They have an undeniable connection, but “their fortunes shift considerably and they’re pushed apart” aka the misfortune of the mindflayer and hawkins not being safe for them leads them to moving away and literally being pushed apart. I don’t know about the pursuing other relationships, but we still have no idea what’s going on with El Hopper tbh, i havent a single clue what’s going to be happening with her storyline atm. But either way, that could be it.
ORRRR the MUCH more likely scenario, Jancy :)
Bloggers on here have already predicted that they wouldn’t be endgame, and I was only slightly skeptical because although their relationship was built on shared trauma, a very unstable foundation to have for a ship tbh, i still hung onto the fact that they cared for eachother a lot :,( But the entirety of their season 3 bickering and this summary kind of sealed the deal.
Just like Mike and El, Nancy and Jonathan have been pushed apart aswell. It was already seen in season three that they’d be better of leading separate lives, aka Jonathan was doing fine at the internship, whereas Nancy could have been somewhere better for herself. I doubt they broke up at the end of season 3, but there’s bound to be new relationships for them seperately. It sucks bc I love Jancy, but s3 showed how badly they snap at one another when there isn’t a life threatening event at hand. Jopper on the other hand, I thought their bickering was adorable, but i’m getting off track, sorry lmfaoo.
Once again, I probably am not the first to talk about these, but jsyk if you steal this from me specifically i will track you down and end you. I’ve been speculating about these things since April and July, which is pretty weak tbh, but that was when i had nothing better to do LMFAO. i hope i got at least something right, but i haven’t seen many of the video store friday’s movies, which sucks bc those could really help. But whatever.
(i wrote this really late at night, and it’s poorly edited bc my eyesight sucks lmfao, but i hope you get what i mean)
And that’s it! I hope you like it, or had some sort of impact from it idk, just sharing my thoughts tbh. Anygays, if you have any questions/added ideas/thoughts of any kind, my inbox is always here, you can private message me, and comment if you want!! i love y’all sm lmfao, so excited for the upcoming content were about to get soon, byee!

hello , hello  !   first of all ,  i’m super excited to be here even if i’m like 10 hrs LATE  ( gmt timezone things )  i’m noe ,  a gay  they / them at the age of 19 ,  and this privileged lil disappointment of a jock boy is gonna be filling the position of kong_01 . despite the rumours ?  yuanjun’s actually not nearly as bad as some of the people he’ll be meeting here >:)  but you’ll get to know more about that below  !  if you’d like to plot just light up that HEART , or add me on disc*rd which i’ll give out in im’s , where i’m infinitely faster .  if i’m not gaming .  no tw’s under the cut  .
* backstory. > many people know of yuanjun, but few people truly know him. he's the famous kong families’ son, heir to the kong legacy, now forward position for south korea men’s national hockey team - which brought forth a ton of international fame from back home and amongst hockey lovers worldwide. while his talent is undeniable, he is long overshadowed by his families’ accomplishments, forever reminded that he’d never be the perfect son they’d hoped for, and no one ever lets him forget it.
> being the child of business tycoons who’s art business seemed to never be on the decline, tended to lend itself to an unconventional, pretty lonely childhood.
> although jun no longer wants to dabble in the stupid shit he probably did as a teen, and escape from their home in a childish fit of rage and make the lives of the various nannies that tended to him while his parents were off being great hell, he still wonders sometimes whether this profession is what he would’ve wanted if he’d just not wanted to spite his parents. he loves hockey - that fact is undeniable. he thanks the nanny who took him there once out of necessity to stop his whining, and he fell in love with it almost instantly. but he also questions whether he gravitated to it because it was something he could throw himself into wholeheartedly to fill a void.
> he's very open to different types of people, and after being scouted at 19 and having a massive shift both in culture and identity as he then begun to travel worldwide, he’s a tiny bit more wordly now than he was back then. he's much more concerned about who you are underneath than superficial appearances, which means developing relationships are few and far between, because a lot of people do approach him because of his fame/fortune. he's unjudgemental to the point where his friends worry about his naivety and how easily he trusts people, but he's absolutely not dumb, just very well versed on telling good people from the bad.
> jun may even come across as naïve, but he's very aware of that perception is nearly important as reality. he's not extroverted in a way that demands conversation, but he knows how to talk to anyone from any background even if its just to maintain pleasantries. after competing in various competitions and versing players from canada to japan, he's become much more sharp and ambitious, a guy who very rarely lets distractions take their course. perhaps it’s with this that his family loathe his choices all the more, with his appetite, he was born with the skills required to run a business - pity he never took to anything of the creative sort.
> working in a fast, stressful, highly coveted job such as pro-sports is a full time job and then some; jun doesn't spend much time not working on it. outside of his schedule, he likes bettering his stamina at the gym and eating healthy. he likes being surrounded by authentic people or nobody at all. he’s not one for trying new things and having new experiences due to time management, tending to stick to a schedule.
> he gets a lot of bad press though, which is beginning to weigh a little heavy on him. doubly now the murder has people talking. from being accused of performance-enhancing pills, various personality scandals, to being linked with ‘dating’ (see: ruining the image of) idols and chaebol’s alike. right now, he’s currently battling a lot of unwanted publicity because of a misunderstood interaction online against a wealthy sweetheart that went sour.
> while jun might be generally unsympathetic and analytical when it comes to developing relationships with people that’ll last long-term, he's a bleeding heart when it comes to kids who may have experienced the same lonely upbringing as he did, without the financial gains. right now he spends sunday’s teaching a bunch of local foster home kids how to skate, and is trying to fund a couple of sports scholarships for those who show promise under a fake name, just generally being a good ‘ole guy.
> his family do not approve of his job, ofc. in fact neither of his parents have ever attended any of his matches to this day, and are only on semi-decent terms with him because jun begrudgingly is still tied by name to the business and shows his face at events for all of 30 minutes until he physically can no longer maintain pleasantries. his celebrity image perhaps is one thing they can manipulate, and even then, jun could get into scandals galore and still be doing his job. good press, bad press, it has the kong’s family name at the forefront of peoples’ minds, which always brings forth revenue.
> pros: could be a lot worse considering his upbringing, collected, and level-headed most of the time. wicked good at sports, and keeps a cool head in a tough situation. ambitious, curious, a little reckless. eager to prove himself, rich? and very endeared to people/places he finds fascinating. which are many. knows where the good, authentic chinese cuisine is. hardworking and very interested in the idea of Progress.
> cons: the most private person alive, will not divulge any palatable information about himself or his feelings. devil's advocate always. will put himself and others at an arm’s length the second he feels (disgusted noises) e-emotions (love, namely). gets bored easily. paranoid, leads with the head more than the heart. friends > > > family. a little self-involved, never fucking sleeps - will be that neighbour you can hear padding around above your apartment at 3.05 am like it’s mid-day, aaaaand Loves Winning Above All Else
* personality & relationships.
> like many others, jun has his fair share of surface-level friends. he’s quick to be interested in people, to get to know them better, but it's difficult for him to get closer than that after a childhood of being picked up and dropped by those who looked over him - which kinda has left him with abandonment issues.
> he’s a curator of neat things that aren’t too overtly complex, and that includes friendships. so if you have something unusual about you, whether it's a talent or a way of thinking, he would be inclined to get to know you better. also, he has a lot of leverage with his job. being friends with a sports star slash million dollar trust fund baby who can get you free shit never hurts, just don’t befriend him for the perks, yanno?
> jun is very dedicated to his vision of things, and can sometimes be very obstinate in the way he a) wants them to be done b) doesn't accept other options, think steve jobs. he's very mercurial and can be nice one minute but isn't afraid to switch to hardass boss to get things done and did.  > he is insanely competitive and his strive is drawn out by always wanting to be on top. truly first child material. that's the kind of guy he is, with standards that do not reflect his passive side too well, which sometimes can get him into some “personality” scandals. he is driven, motivated, always looking for ways to be winning.
> i'm sure someone is bound to hate him, he’s probably got a few accounts online dedicated to a steady stream of shit-talking, given his cutthroat status or holding many hockey cups.
> jun doesn’t think too much about his sexuality - he'd probably best be labelled as pan, but leans towards those who identify as women? because of his current placement in a workspace, and with a cultural identity, that both don’t often lend themselves to lgbtq+ rights, i doubt he’d ever make that public.
> he works amongst some of the fittest people in the world, he knows how to appreciate beautiful bodies, but he's not about to discriminate. he's tragically a committaphobe and isn't interested in anything long-term right now, although i think it'd be funny if someone tried. he's very open for flings and one-night stands and even a friends with benefits sort of set up.
* wc’s.  >  bring me his baby bro and sis. i command u. i have many thoughts  >  somebody who maybe gets in on his foster-kid situation? idk maybe they have a perception of jun being what he is in the articles they read of him, but they see him and are like <3_<3 he actually real Nice huh. i see this being romantic but it could bloom a really nice, wholesome friendship too. >  enemies. not gonna lie, he doesn’t vibe with rich kids w / a stick up their ass, especially since a lot of the people he works with aren’t from exorbitant families. people who loathe him for declining to take over his families’ business? like the boy can’t even name more than 3 artists off of the top of his head?   > fwb except neither of them know what “just friends” mean.  > i would love if jun had a confidante. a best friend, a partner in crime, a total bromance 'cause i can never get enough of those. whatever label you ‘wanna put on it. wiping up each other’s messes. maybe a Betrayal in the works  > again, gonna be a wc, but i would love a “rival” of jun's on a similar level (or bigger)  that’s entirely fabricated based off of trashy articles or a misunderstood interaction online. bonus points if they’re an absolute sweetheart, well loved by most people, and generally the antithesis of jun with his multiple drug/personality rumours, which in contrast, make him seem like the bad guy.
> party buddy. this guy hasn’t touched alcohol/cigarettes/any other stimulants since he was underage and wanted to rebel. the word “relax” does not exist in his vocabulary. Help

oooh for the ask game 24, 30, and 44!
MAGPIE MY BELOVED HELLO
24. What are your favorite episodes?
The only episodes I've really watched are TMWWBK (which is my favorite episode and I'm certain would still be my favorite if I watched every single one because it has the only SPN character and the only SPN line), The French Mistake (which was funny enough but honestly in the Just Okay category for me, which makes me pretty sure I wouldn't enjoy actually watching SPN if this is one of the funniest/highest-rated eps), and Reading Is Fundamental (my best friend was watching it and asked me if I wanted to hop on Discord, I thought it might be fun to see Kevin's first introduction but instead this ep found the two of us taking like 90 minutes to get through it bc we kept pausing and screaming (derogatory) as the model minority stereotype jokes piled up and up and up... Unfortunately not a favorite even if we got Meg AND the "pull my finger" joke AND the "Sorry" shot). Other than TMWWBK, from clipping and transcript-reading, I like Wayward Sisters (who doesn't?), The Things We Left Behind (Claire!!!! Cas trying to be a dad! The diner scene aka my favorite destiel scene of all time bc being in love just looks so good on Cas! Also the parallels between Claire and Randy and teen Dean and the adults at that club in his story... woof.), Golden Time (Eileen gets to be HERE and be sad and loved and fight people with ghost powers and Cas gets to do a cool speech and a stabbing and do the Asian community a favor), and Lucifer Rising (just immensely sexy on all counts for Ruby, Sam, Cas, and myself). Also I am SO fond of Steve!Cas so I'll add Heaven Can't Wait even if I barely know anything about it.
30. What is an unpopular opinion or headcanon you have about the show?
Ooh okay hm I think. So I adore confession scene, but I don't think the "I cared about the whole world because of you" is like. The Objective Truth the way that most bloggers seem to take it. Cas was lobotomized tons of times before he met Dean, he was described as coming off the line with a crack in his chassis, he's always been the weird little angel who likes humanity too much! I don't think Dean came first, and although gay love was part of what helped Cas invent free will, he *Ruby voice* didn't need the feather to fly, Dumbo! I do think Cas believes what he says in the moment, but I also think he sorta... made himself believe it? This is probably just me deciding that cas-coding should go both ways, but like. I very much crush as a coping mechanism and I very much overascribe my actions to love because it simply seems more noble/poetic to do so. Being miserable because school is hard is cringefail but being miserable because of unrequited love is Good Shit. And I have been in unrequited love with my best friend for at least 7 years (probably 9 but I didn't realize it earlier) and if you asked I would 100% say that she taught me love and defined love for me and that she will be my first and last, but I also know that that is not entirely true; it's just the narrative that I like for myself. And I think that being in an Empty deal contingent on whether or not he LETS himself feel happy would lead Cas to do plenty of mental maneuvering, which I think involved intentional self-poor-little-meow-meow-ification via overascribing his choices and happiness to Dean (and I also think he'd already been doing that for a while just because of personal self-worth issues and because it's a nice narrative). I know as Cas's last Moment on the show it was probably written to be The Objective Truth, but I am perceiving him and I say no.
44. If you could write an episode of Supernatural, what would happen?
Oh scream okay! This is a fun one! I am going to start out with two ideas from other people:
1. Months ago Nate from the pocnatural discord had the idea of an episode from the "monster"'s perspective where the Winchesters are just clearly the antagonists while not doing anything different than they usually do. I think the idea was that all these supernatural beings live in a self-regulating community together and we have one Very Likable pov character who's a member of this community, but one of the newer members messes up one day and kills someone and the Winchesters come on a case and wreak havoc on this Very Much Functioning (there was going to be a whole rehab and reparations thing for the new member who messed up!) system and kill pov character and in the end you just HATE Sam and Dean for it.
2. It's hard to adapt anything from bad moon rising (aka my favorite spn fic) very well because the point of an Arab Winchesters season 1 rewrite is that it doesn't really work with the white characters we have now, but I think I could see a version of chapter 2 adapted as long as Haley (an Ojibwe hunter who lives in the area affected by what Sam and Dean are hunting) takes the lead. I'd especially like to see this section:
Dean laughs, a little disbelievingly. The question has never crossed his mind. “Do you like it?”
This gives Haley no pause at all. “Yeah,” she says. “I mean, it’s not really about killing monsters, though, for me. Or, it’s not always about killing monsters. It’s about community. Not violence. It’s a spiritual thing to build a home, you know?”
“Oh,” Dean says. He can’t think of anything else to say. It has never crossed his mind before that hunting could be compatible with a community.
I don't have any original episode ideas to add to the hunting discourse, so we're on to my ideas about character-driven eps. I think I would like to see a version of my sastiel possession fic (ty again for beta-ing that! you're a real one) as an ep around the time of 9.11 because Sam deserves to work through their trauma, but idk what the Dean plot should be for that. Another thing I would like very much is TFW drunk history storytime (so like. Tall Tales bass boosted), where for some reason they all need to go over what they were doing during Stanford era but each of them is telling someone else's story. It's gonna be either Sam->Dean->Cas->Sam or Dean->Sam->Cas->Dean. It starts out very funny (they all have terrible wigs and makeup in the flashbacks. Cas is Jimmy wearing a giant mask with googly eyes on it.) but as it goes on it gets increasingly sad how much these three don't really know each other.
In the Sam->Dean->Cas->Sam episode, Sam's telling of Dean's past veers wildly between "crushing pussy and killing things" and "feels like absolute shit all the time" and it's funny but Not Right and afterwards Dean goes "I didn't know you thought of me that way" and Sam says "... I am basically reading off the voicemails you left me back then" and Dean has to sit there and contend with the mythology he himself wrote for Sam to believe in. Dean->Cas provides the comedic beats for the episode as Dean awkwardly narrates Cas's Life As A Weird Little Guy who watches trees grow and heals babies and in the end Dean goes "so how did I do" and Cas is like "well actually I was either getting lobotomized or murdering people so like 3/10?" The moral of this plot line is that Dean is bi. Cas gives a fairly faithful retelling of Sam living her trans little life at Stanford and veering between trying to be Normal and being a total weirdgirl and feeling guilty and angry and happy and free. It becomes clear that Cas admires Sam a lot (but also feels like. guilt and some self-recrimination for not being that) for rebelling from their dad and exploring their queerness during a time Cas was still to his knowledge in total soldier mode, and Sam is having an a_good_soldier's Thesis 5 moment about how she failed the kid she used to be and how very sorry they are about all the things that happened to them, and Dean hates that this is the first he's hearing about so much of this but is also quite emo about the parts where Sam is struggling. The ep ends with them all in the same room not looking at each other and not knowing if they want to group hug or never talk again.
Dean->Sam->Cas episode is similar but the storytelling dissolves a lot faster as it becomes clearer way faster how much their own emotions are getting in the way. Dean is upset that Sam could leave their family so easily and probably swing a normal life, Sam keeps wondering what it would be like to live millennia just KNOWING that you were right and good and clean, and Cas is gay and veering between fitting Dean's life into a larger Righteous Man narrative and just being very tender (and sad and angry) about Dean's pain. Episode ends in a rather cathartic shouting match where they all end up apologizing to each other for many things.
Oh also I would like to see Cassie again but I don't have an episode in mind there. Also would love to see Kaia adjusting to life in Sioux Falls and befriending the others and dealing with Bad Place trauma.
tysm for the questions sorry for taking so long!

Written declarations of love offer something to hold and cherish over time. The Romance!! Below are my Top 5 Favorites:
“The Department of Special Collections” (T, 4k) by Speranza, art by alby_mangroves
It was a messy thing of leather and papers and rope. It looked like Phillips had carelessly thrown a bunch of documents onto an old piece of black leather and then rolled the whole thing up and tied it . . . The papers inside were all different sizes, everything out of order and haphazardly stacked, like someone had been in a hurry and just grabbed it all.
+ Post WS, someone finds their WW2 letters. “I am only half of myself without you. I cannot let myself think that you are not writing for some other reason. In fact I won’t think it, and so instead I must assume you no longer love me, you shit, even though you are all I have in the whole world.”
-☆-
“Yours, Bucky” (T, 2k) by attackofthezee (noxlunate)
Natasha joins Steve on the couch and proceeds to squeeze her way right into Steve’s space so that she can read the letter. “Love letters, Rogers? Y’know, despite the whole star crossed lovers thing I didn’t expect you two to be so damn romantic.”
“Why? Because we’re from the 40s?”
“No, because you would literally rather jump out of a plane without a parachute than talk about your love life. Believe it or not, it’s possible people might make assumptions based on that kind of behavior.”
“Speaking of, do you see any planes around so that I can get out of this conversation?”
In which Bucky doesn't come back right away, but that doesn't stop him from leaving Steve love letters.
+ Post WS, Bucky’s recovery. “Sweetheart, look up.”
-☆-
“1917″ (M, 9k) by msbluesunflower
Born on March 10th, 1985 in Brooklyn, James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes was named after Sergeant Barnes, Captain America’s childhood best friend, who died when he fell off a train in the Swiss Alps.
In 2008, Peggy Carter donates to the Smithsonian letters Captain Rogers wrote to Sergeant Barnes in 1944, after he fell.
Some lives are eternally entwined.
+ 2008 to Steve’s defrosting. Bucky is reincarnated with memories. “The gravity that pulls me toward you, that makes me revolve around you all day and all night — Well, maybe it’s against the laws of the universe but I think it’ll always be there, even after you’re gone.”
-☆-
“If You’re Reading This, Steve Rogers” (M, 39k) by fallendarlings
Nobody tells Steve it's okay to cry.
Nobody touches him.
Nobody remembers Steve Rogers is a person under the mantle. It's okay. He hasn't felt like a person since he watched Bucky fall.
+ WW2 to Post WS, pining, Steve angsts. “Surprise, Sweetheart. Here’s all the things I never told you, but always desperately wished I could.”
-☆-
“Sincerely, Your Pal” (M, 65k) by lettered
"[...] lesbians and gay men writing letters to their lovers and friends faced the special problem of wartime censorship. Military censors, of course, cut out all information that might aid the enemy, but this surveillance made it necessary for gay and lesbian correspondents to be careful not to expose their homosexuality. To get around this, gay men befriended sympathetic censors or tricked others by using campy phrases, signing a woman’s name (like Dixie or Daisy), or changing the gender of their friends. Sailors became WAVEs, boyfriends became WACs, Robert became Roberta. There must exist, hidden in closets and attics all over America, a huge literature of these World War II letters between lesbians and between gay men that would tell us even more about this important part of American history." - Coming Out Under Fire: The History of Gay Men and Women In World War Two, by Allan Berube
+ TFA, up to Azzano. “I love you. I just needed to say it again, write it down so you could see it and I could see it and we could both know: I’m in love with you.”

I mean it's not even a prompt if you don't want it to be. But let's take that possibility/AU that Will could actually befriend Robin and realize some Stuff. And actually create some badass friendship just like Steve and Dustin did ;; I need some good friendship for my boy
Will found out during a slow day at Scoops Ahoy. Steve had to run an errand with Dustin and left Robin bored out of her mind in the shop, and it just happened to be Will that really wanted a vanilla sundae at one in the afternoon. He sat on the counter as she rearranged the ice cream tubs to her liking. They didn’t really have a whole lot in common– except that they were tired of all their friends dating.
Apparently, if Will was paying attention correctly, Sandra was dating Miranda’s ex boyfriend, who had apparently had a brother that was now dating Caroline but really wanted to be with Louise, Sandra’s cousin. It sounded super annoying when Will began to factor in high school dances and drama. He wanted to buy Robin ice cream– or at least new friends.
Robin expressed the same sentiment directly when Will talked about why he was at the mall alone. She even placed four dollars and nine cents in change on the table and began pointing at other people walking by. Not only did Will say he couldn’t just replace the Party, Robin was beginning to point at girls. Not that Will didn’t want to be friends with girls it was just, in that moment, Will needed the confidence he could still be friends with other boys. He wasn’t a plague.
“What’s wrong with her! She’s cute!” Robin said, nodding toward a redhead on the other side of the shop.
“She’s nineteen.” Will said, looking at her. “I’m fourteen, Robin.”
“Right. She’s still cute though, right?”
“I mean, I guess…” Will muttered.
“What do you mean you guess?” She laughed. She poked Will’s whipped cream and dabbed it on his nose. “She used to be the captain of the debate team at school– and she’s not a bitch!”
“She’s… pretty, I guess.” Will placed a heavy spoonful of fudge in his mouth, hoping he’d push off talking for a while.
“Why are you saying this like it’s a guess, Will. Don’t you have opinions on stuff? It’s okay to say a girl is cute, you know.”
“I know it’s okay to say a girl is cute! That’s kind of my problem.” Will grumbled, spitting a bit of fudge on his lip.
Robin handed him a napkin slowly, narrowing her eyes. Will tried not to bend under her stare, looking down at his ice cream. He began sweating, sure his hands were melting his sundae prematurely.
“I just don’t think girls are… cute.” Will muttered, slowly wiping his mouth.
Robin blinked at him, her lips lifting in a glowing smile. “Well I do.”
“Y-You do?”
“I really do.” She nodded, patting his leg. “Very cute.”
“Oh.”
Will finished his ice cream in silence, occasionally looking over at Robin. Will didn’t want to stare but he’d never met another gay person before– especially someone older, especially someone out. There was nothing different about her than when they met, but every moment, every simple movement was one Will was able to look at and know: that ice cream tub was moved by a gay person. Everything in that shop was being completed and kept running by a gay person. There was a wonderfully kind and intelligent gay woman in front of him, smiling and scooping ice cream and earning money and– for some reason– studying Russian. There were no caveats to her existence. She did everything without any obstacle, even if it was the simple things. Will had never seen it done.
Everything was the same, and that was so different than what Will thought being out would look like.
In the coming week, Will had the craving for ice cream a whole lot more. He’d pop by Scoops with his money gripped tightly in his hands, nervously asking for whatever flavor she thought he’d like.
“How am I supposed to know what you like, kid? Isn’t that your job?” She’d always say.
“I don’t know yet.” Will would answer, placing his change into the tip jar.
Will would sit in the back room, eating his single scoop slowly, trying to muster the courage to ask Robin questions– any question– to see what her life was like.
One day, while eating a scoop of butterscotch, Will caught her while she was washing her hands in the back.
“Hey, Robin?”
“Hey, kid. What’s up? Enjoying your flavor today?”
“Yeah. It’s alright.” Will shrugged.
“It’s our best seller. Lot of people like it.” She said, puling the other chair out. “But, I mean, if you hate it. Just say so.”
“I just don’t know.” Will sighed. “I’ve just… I don’t know. I’ve spent so much time eating vanilla ice cream– it was my first flavor– but I can’t tell if it’s my favorite because of… like, exposure or if I really like like it.”
“Okay. Well, what makes you say that?” Robin took her hat off and folded in between them. “Why can’t you like vanilla?”
“It’s not just only vanilla. It’s like, vanilla bean. That certain kind.” Will said, twirling his spoon. “But everyone says I should really try chocolate! But, I don’t want to! But how do I know if I never–”
“I’ve never liked vanilla.” Robin said swiftly, folding her hands on the table. “I’ve refused to try vanilla since I was nine years old.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. But, for the longest time too, I thought I was allergic to chocolate.” she said.
“Then what’s left?” Will asked.
“Letting yourself starve.” She sighed and bit tapped her thumbs against the table top quietly. “I thought I would just watch everyone enjoy ice cream for the rest of their lives– vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter–”
“Peanut butter?” Will echoed, eyebrows furrowing.
“They’re out there. Just as cool as vanilla and chocolate. Probably hell of a lot cooler, actually.” Robin laughed. “But, I thought I’d watch all my friends, all my enemies, enjoy desserts while I’d be forced to watch. And starve. All because I refused to like vanilla.”
“You never felt like you had to?” Will asked, taking her hat to twist in his hands. “Not once?”
“Sure, I felt like I should’ve been seen with a cone of vanilla a few times when I was starting high school but–”
“No, I mean, have you ever felt like you had to at least try it before you said you hated it? I mean, how can I sit with all my friends eating chocolate and have vanilla– they’ll just say they’ve never seen me try it and–”
“Are you trying to make your friends happy, or yourself?” Robin asked, lifting her eyebrows. “Because it sounds like you just want to make sure you can sit at the little snack table with all your friends.”
“T-That’s not true.” Will found it hard to believe someone had figured him out that quickly. Then again, if anyone was going to be able to spot his uh, dessert preference, it’d probably be Robin. “I’m just, trying to make sure I’m not making a mistake.”
“Why would it be a mistake? You like vanilla, right? You’ve thought about it and you really like vanilla?”
“Yeah.” Will nodded slowly. It was the first affirmative opinion Will had ever given Robin, given anyone, about what he liked. Even if it was disguised in ice cream. “Vanilla bean is my favorite. I like it the most.”
“Who’s vanilla bean?” Robin quirked an eyebrow and started grinning. “You already have a scoop picked out! Why didn’t you lead with that? That’s exciting!”
“Hey! What are you two talking about in there?” Steve said, suddenly sliding the window back. “I mean, vanilla? Chocolate? It’s ice cream guys. What could you possibly be discussing?”
“Boys. What do you think, dingus?” She sighed, rolling her eyes. It was the truth, but Steve held his hands up in surrender, turning back toward the counter. “It’s just ice cream.”
“Alright, sorry I asked.” Steve muttered. “All your hours have gone to your head, Robin. I swear.”
Will waited until Steve was serving a new customer before he spoke again. Steve seemed to be too distracted and a bit too stupid to crack their code, but anything was possible. Will had accidentally found another gay person in Hawkins while just trying to avoid hanging out with Mike– not that he didn’t want to hang out with him, he had just had enough heartbreak for one day and wanted to maybe try smiling that afternoon.
“I’ve never felt like this… about any… uh, thing before and I’m afraid that I just really like vanilla bean but am, indifferent to vanilla.” Will said, rubbing the back of his neck. It was just nerves that time.
“Do you think that?” Robin reached over to grab Will’s other hand.
“Well, no, but I know someone’s going to say it and–”
“If you don’t think so, then no. You really do like vanilla, Will.” she squeezed his hand tightly. “Is that okay? If you really do like vanilla?”
Will took a deep breath and looked at the woman in front of him: timid but brave, concealed but forward, happy and gay. Will’s feelings weren’t just a fluke, a phase he could force himself to get over. All Will’s confusing and frustrating feelings were real– and he had someone who understood him. He wasn’t a plague and he wasn’t crazy. At least not alone.
He cracked a smile. “Hey, Robin.”
“Yeah, kid. What?” She seemed to already know, her smile curling her lips in.
“I’m gay.” Will said, laughing. “I really think I am.”
“Welcome aboard, sailor.” Robin cheered, patting his hand excitedly. “We’re so happy to have you. Really. It’s not an easy boat to get on at first, but it’s going to be so much easier for you. I promise, it’s gonna get so much better– a tiny bit worse when you hit like, seventeen maybe, but you won’t be alone. You’ll have us.”
“You mean… you and Steve?” Will said incredulously. “Steve?”
“He’s supportive.” Robin said, pushing her chair back. “We don’t have to tell him, but if you just need someone in your corner, Steve’s just about your biggest fan.”
“Oh. Good to know.”
It was comforting to know Will would always have a fall back in case someone– or everyone– decided to abandon him after he came out. Will didn’t know Robin’s story or the rest of her life, but even if she was all alone after her own familial betrayal, she was still able to smile and laugh and live– even if there was pain Will didn’t see. She was able to stay strong and offer help to others. She wasn’t defeated or bitter. She was hope.
“But, hey. Don’t sit around and sulk with me all day. Go have fun, kid, alright?” Robin grabbed both his hands and pulled him up from his chair. “Go catch a movie or something. Have a good, fun, youthful day and I’ll see you around, alright?”
“Thank you, Robin.” Will said earnestly. “Thanks.”
“Hey, it’s what friends are for, right?” She placed a hand on his back, guiding him to the exit, but Will took it as an involuntary invite. He hugged her quickly, squeezing her sides and grinning against her shoulder, before taking off.
Will Byers had a gay friend.
Will came back the following day, excited to come racing up to the Scoops counter. He was supposed to be meeting up with the Party, but in those few moments before, Will knew he wouldn’t be alone either. He had other friends.
“Hey Robin!” Will waved, once he was in earshot of the counter.
“Ahoy, sailor!” She jumped up and waved. As she landed, she began quickly scooping and getting Will’s ice cream.
Will weaved through the tables and chairs to arrive at the shop. He placed his money on the counter and tried to crane his neck to see what Robin was making him. She kept turning and blocking his view, laughing quietly to herself.
“What are you getting, Will?” Steve asked, stepping up behind the register. “What route did you take today on this… for the love of God… ocean of flavor today?”
“Uh, I don’t know.” Will said, pointing to Robin. “Ask her.”
She held up one finger and quickly reached under the counter for one last ingredient. Robin finally turned around and placed the long glass dish down on the counter, sliding it forward. She was proud and absolutely beaming.
“All aboard the USS Butterscotch,” she saluted. “made entire out of vanilla ice cream.”
“Isn’t the USS Butterscotch supposed to be made out of, uh, butterscotch.” Steve said, turning to Robin with a quirked eyebrow.
“Yeah, dingus. But Will likes vanilla. We’ve been over this. When you were eavesdropping.”
“Actually, Robin… I hate vanilla ice cream.” Will whispered, sliding the money to Steve. Steve looked between the two of them with furrowed eyebrows, muttering to himself.
“WHAT! But you said–”
“Oh sick sundae, Will!” Mike said loudly, walking up behind Will. Lucas and Dustin were still no where to be seen. “Wait, is that all vanilla? Oh, can I try some?” Mike looked at Robin as she handed him an extra spoon slowly. He mistook her hesitance for confusion rather than inquisitiveness. “I just really love vanilla.”
“Well well well.” She said, looking at Will with a smothered grin. Will tried to hide his blush with a faux itch on his cheek. “We’ve found our vanilla bean, Captain. Great flavor– seems like it’d be sour, but I guess it’s pretty sweet.”
“What are you two talking about?” Mike said, his mouth full of ice cream and waffle cone. Steve shrugged to Mike and handed Will his change.
“You.” Will said, tapping the side of the bowl. “W-White and freckled… Like you. Y-You look like your ice cream.”
“Heeey! I do!” Mike laughed, lifting the boat up and holding it by his face. “I never noticed.”
“I-I just did.” Will lied, biting the inside of his cheek. “Never noticed you– noticed that before… Do you want to split it with me. That’s too much ice cream for me.”
“Are you kidding? Of course I do!” Mike nodded, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. “Vanilla and you? Probably the best combo.”
Mike was busy looking at his hands, licking the bit of whipped cream off his thumb, but Robin easily caught the change in Will’s expression. His mouth fell open slightly and his hands fumbled with the coins still trying to go into his pocket. Will was part of a combination. He was a desired add on rather than just something stuck on in a reluctant after-thought. He was something Mike loved just as much as vanilla ice cream. Will could one day be the vanilla ice cream.
It was a far-fetched dream, but there was at least one other person who would support it. Will never had to dream alone anymore. His fantasies didn’t have to be painful or lonely. They weren’t punishments. He could now sit with ice cream and a new friend a talk about boys– like a regular sleepover, except one half of the duo got paid minimum wage, while both got to be exactly who they were. No restrictions.
“Well, we’ve got a captain and a first mate!” Robin clapped her hands together with a grin. “You’re all ready to set sail, fellas. Enjoy! Welcome aboard, Mike.”
