hopeless time loop. the way out isn’t to save everyone. the way out isn’t to save even one person. the way out isn’t to change anything. the way out is accepting how it happened the first time is how it always will be. that’s how you acted, that’s how they acted, that’s how you would have acted every time if you weren’t given the curse of hindsight. the way out is accepting you can’t fix the past; you can only forgive yourself for it.

Note
For who would go crazy in TWST trying to save u over and over i have thoughts:
Vil - Mr. Perfect? Not being able to reach his goal, trying to get to the person who understands him best? ESP. thinking about how he's based on the Evil Queen, someone well known for having a Very Poor reaction to not getting her way? He'd absolutely lose it, have a "where are they now" episode about washed up celebs cause EVERYTHING he has is dedicated to saving you
Malleus - He wields some of the most powerful magic in the world, but he can't save you? Absolutely not. He refuses. Also in his case he's probably resetting the world himself, so the repeated deaths he can't save you from are arguably being caused by him to. He has no sense to pet go - you love him, know him so intimately that a world without you is meaningless. Reset.
Azul - There's no bargain he can make, power he can steal, trick he can pull strong enough to fix this mess. He's blindly ambitious, and refuses to hear the word "no". How could he give up his precious pearl, the one person he knows could see through everything he is that's nasty and gross, and love the whole of it? He knows, deep in his mind, that he can't change this fate. But to give up on you? Truly impossible.
Tumblr media
notes: referring to this shitpost here, discussion of spoilers for all currently available books including book 7, I'll slap Malleus's part under read more to make those a bit more avoidable
No but annon your mind... so correct about all of this for all stated reasons and more. Seriously how did I not think about Vil? That's genius?
Assuming the original timeline follows the events currently evolving in game, I assume that Yuu ends up dying as part of Grim's overblot. I think it makes sense for the boys to die that first time too, only to wake up alive and in the middle of preparing for NRC's entrance ceremony. After they make sure that this isn't a dream, and that they really are alive and somehow back in time they start making plans.
Vil
I can see og timeline Vil regretting that he didn't pay attention to Yuu before VDC, and trying to figure out how to stay in their life during his fourth year internship because (even if his feelings technically run a bit deeper) genuine friendships are important to him. Remember how happy to see everyone he was in chapter 6? It's all he can do to remind himself you probably don't know who he is anymore when he sees Crowley drag you into the mirror chamber, he just wants to kiss your preciously confused face.
Something Rook immediately picks up on because I'm pretty convinced he would notice if something was that majorly off script about his queen. Vil's raised eyebrow is .3 centimeters off from his normal concerned face :/ he needs an explanation.
Vil's relieved at first, he has Rook's help and you are surprisingly receptive to his advances. For just a brief moment he has you in his arms and you are alive, and then you are torn away again. And again, and again and again and-
Vil's signature spell is a curse, he can recognize the traces of one, and I agree he would be so determined to break it he would slowly start to deteriorate into a actual villain. It's not like time is advancing forward otherwise, it's not like he can advance his acting career while he is stuck in this time loop trying to save you, trying to not let your zero percent of survival stay zero. I could see him spending a loop killing the other overblot mages before they build up enough blot to hurt Yuu only for that not to work and him to get even more unhinged as a result.
Azul
Ok so you remember that bit in the Ghost Bride event where Azul gets borderline creepy over the thought of being rejected? Or that part of New Years where he suffers a bit of sunk cost fallacy over the grab bags and gets back in line to spend more money on more stuff he doesn't need? Or how about his level up lines? Laughing at the thought of being satisfied with "just this much power" or warning that you will just be taken advantage of in this world, and inviting you to seek safety with him when that inevitably happens?
Well you did and he failed you. And no he isn't really someone who lets go of things. He goes out of his way to tell Riddle that he thinks being greedy is a good thing; you could have had a very long and happy life together that hit every milestone you set out to achieve and it still wouldn't be enough for Azul. He will never be satisfied, never have enough of Yuu.
But he's smart, he knows when things just aren't possible. It makes him more determined to prove himself. If he can't outsmart something as trivial as fate, can he really claim to be a brilliant mage?
Unlike Vil, I don't think he would immediately tell the twins what was happening. I do think they would figure it out eventually, and I do think they would help, but I think they would also maybe... eventually... realize that there was no saving you and maybe it's best for everyone involved if that's accepted. I could see Jade and Floyd going to Yuu directly and asking what you want, not because they are opposed to saving you but because they want Azul's suffering to end.
I don't know if you have ever played Amnesia Memories, but I could see Azul following a similar path to the Joker World/Ukyo (they are not similar characters but meh) in a situation like this. Won't spoil that here but I highly recommend it if you like otome games.
Malleus
In a twisted way I could almost see him being satisfied with being stuck inside a time loop trying to save you. Not at first obviously, at first Malleus refuses to believe he could fail in saving you. He is the fifth most powerful mage in the universe. He is a King, he can not think of anyone, anything that is stupid enough to tell him no.
Maybe he speed runs his own overblot and tries trapping you in a dream, only for that to kill you. Reset.
How about killing the other overblot mages? He'd arrive at that one a lot faster than Vil. Also doesn't work. Reset.
I don't think Malleus would bring Lilia, Silver, or Sebek into the loop of what was going on. Lilia- he's smart, old, and understands just how powerful Malleus really is, but I'm not sure he would be able to realize time itself is being reset. I think he would pick up on what Malleus's plan is in each individual universe and goes out of his way to prevent him from doing something stupid. You know who I could see picking up on it though? Leona and Idia, forcing them to work together to get Malleus to stop further driving a wedge between Malleus and the rest of the student body.
And then there is you, troublesome you. We don't really know what causes Grim to overblot, I could almost see a situation where Yuu does everything they can to save their friends, aware that time is being reset and thinking that finally, this time they can keep everyone from dying. They are completely content to die if it means no one else gets hurt, completely unaware that self sacrifice is what is causing all of this. What is one life compared to everyone in all of Twisted Wonderland after all?
Everything, it is worth everything, this world really is meaningless without you in it. Reset.

lucky for them the collosus had single glaring flaw: it had to keep driving no matter what. using clever engineering the created a trap. it put it on a infinite loop track. there it was confined for centuries and centuries until it had been completedly forgotton by everyone.
one day a young traveler was digging in the earth with his spinny cone thing. he was so curious so he dug really deep and he uncovered the giant apple car sealed in the earth. he saw the apple cars power so he killed it and sucked the soul out of it for himself. the apple cars body couldnt decay after losing its soul so it just sat there infecting the ground around it. the young traveler used the new power to rule the world and he lost his heart.
the apple car curse was spread every where. nothing could decompose anymore which meant nothing could be born either. only the oldest trees that could outlive everything would remain to see the final years of earths activity.
the young traveler had an option to save everything but he would never use it. the world was his kingdom. his powers got weaker over time to the point where hd could no longer reset the world with fire even if he wanted to. he kept up protective barriers around his shrinking cities until he died wrinkly when the thin circle around him broke

In honour of spooky month I have a horror prompt
Soap/ghost trapped in a time-loop by a malicious entity (super angsty) until they learn they can either annoy or scare said entity enough to stop fucking with them because I can’t read horror without a happy ending
If your stuck with something forever chance is your gonna find someway to piss it off
Thank you have a great day
God I hope I finish this by Halloween
Ghost woke up on October 30th again. He sighed and sat up, body aching from the way he just died.
His body had clipped through the floor and been shredded. Shockingly, it didn’t hurt that much, just tickled. But he still died and despite the reset in time, his body hadn’t quite caught up.
Ghost ignored the recruit that knocked on his door. He could recite the little speech that she gives him down to her cadence.
“Sir, there are reports of someone stealing-“
“Everyone's Left shoe. I know. Its Sergeant Daves. Check his locker." The recruit stopped in her tracks and nodded. “Uh, thank you sir.."
Ghost had spent about 60 days finding that out. It was very annoying because no matter how much evidence he got at the end of the day, he'd die in some strange eldritch way and then be right back at the beginning. Eventually, he figured out who it was. For the first few days afterward, he went through the motions of finding evidence but so far, there were no consequences he could see from just... telling her and making her leave.
He brushed her off and went looking for Soap.
His breath of fresh air.
Even if he was still bitching about working Christmas.
“Do you know how mad my Mam is??” Soap moved his hands a lot as he talked.
Ghost hated this next part. “Johnny.” He waited for the movement of his hands to go away. “We’re in a time loop and I have proof.”
Soap stared at him. "Nae. Can't be in a time loop or you'd give me the passcode."
"That's the thing you fucking muppet. You refuse to give me the passcode. If you'd give me the passcode, just for once, I could tell you it the next time I wake up."
"Why haven't you tortured it out of me?"
Ghost huffed. "The one time I do that is the day my loop breaks."
He had actually tried. He had ripped off one of Soap's fingernails and immediately stopped. Then, he tried to torture Gaz to get Soap to admit it. Same situation. Despite knowing this would have zero lasting effects, Ghost even planned to kill himself right as he got the passcode, he just... couldn't bring himself to hurt them.
He had been tempted to try again with Price, but he knew he wouldn't be able to do that either.
"Well, I'm not giving it to you. I'd only give it to you if we were in a time loop."
"This is a paradox. You see that right."
Soap shrugged and smiled at him. This is what Ghost hated. That Soap never believed him.
"One day, I hope I get the right words for you to believe me." Ghost said softly. So terribly sad. He stood up and got out his gun. Soldiers were immediately alert, but not frightened. While it was unusual for a soldier to whip out a pistol during breakfast, this was Ghost and well... his behavior was usually excused.
Soap frowned. "What are you doing??"
"Right door." Ghost shot the thing that came in. It looked like a dog. Not quite, but close. If he had to describe it in a coherent way, it would be a dog's skin that was stuffed with too little meat.
Soap grabbed his own gun, never went anywhere without it, and held it up. "How did yo-"
"Time loop." Ghost answered. "Don't go and investigate."
"Why?"
"Just watch."
Soap didn't go because Ghost told him not to, but he was clearly unhappy about it. He lingered where he was, the urge to move and figure it out and save the day, while all normally admirable traits, were now causing a power struggle in his silly little brain.
Ghost had went through this day enough to know that Soap would not go. He'd stay. Maybe if more time got to pass, he'd disobey Ghost. Soap was always loyal, but obedient was never a good descriptor for him.
But right as someone poked the dog with his foot, it broke. The skin broke into fractals, letting something ooze out of it that melted through the floor.
Poor guy that poked it managed to get his boot off in time, but Ghost knew that despite Soap's distaste for dogs, he wouldn't be so callous as to kick it. He would use his hands and lose his hand. He'd know because it happened three times already. One time, due to either how Ghost worded it or how he shot it, he couldn't be sure, it killed Soap.
Ghost was quick to blow his own brains out and reset the day. He didn't even want to risk a world where Soap didn't make it out of this.
Ghost tried not to think about how easy dying had become. Most of the time, it was simply to reset things. Sometimes though, he did it because after this point, things just get worse.
For days 6-10, a little bit before he stopped counting, he didn't bother to leave bed. He died by being mauled, drowning, a fire that broke out and Sergeant Daves breaking in and shooting him for ratting him out for hoarding left shoes.
Fucking freak.
He also died in ways he didn't think possible. Like no clipping through the floor, being sent to space, freezing to death on a regular day and melting.
All of these were punishments for doing certain things. Ghost had figured out the rules and tried to follow them as not following them seemed to irritate it. And also, he did not want to get melted again.
One, he could not kill the girl in the beginning. Torture was fine, he tortured her for information about the time loop. He tortured Sergeant Daves too. He specifically could not kill her.
Two, he could only talk about this to Soap, Gaz and Price. Mostly because none of them believed him. At least, that was his theory. Strangers meant instant death. It was the few breaks in the pattern he could find.
Three, trying to sleep past 4 pm. He tried to sleep the remainder of the day away and that's when he got shot into space.
Ghost sighed. "Soap, I love you."
"What??"
Ghost left the cafeteria. Soap would be too shocked to follow him for about 8 seconds, which gave him just enough time to escape. He made his way to the gun store to grab his sniper and then up on to the roof.
Things would move like clockwork. More of those dogs. If he wasn't fast enough, Gaz would be killed in the center of the training field. To do so, he'd have to shoot a recruit in the leg and let the dogs get to him first. Around 3 pm, Gaz would scream at him for it, but it was the only way Ghost had found for Gaz to survive until 3 pm.
Then, Ghost would have to go to Price's room an-
While thinking over his plan, Ghost made one of the dumbest mistakes a sniper could. Stop focusing on his target.
There goes Gaz.
Fucking hell. Ghost groaned and hit his head hard onto the floor. For a moment, he considered bashing his brains out instead of shooting himself.
Then, he got a funny idea. He sat up and found her among the rushing recruits. Ghost took aim and fired, watching her die. The girl from the beginning.
Ghost felt himself combust. The fire burned so fast he didn't feel any pain.
He woke up.
Ugh.
His mouth still tasted like smoke and flames.
Ghost rolled out of bed and groaned.
A knock at the door.
"IT'S FUCKING SERGEANT DAVES."
"Uh. Okay, sir. Thank you?"
"Get fucked and tell Soap to come here."
"Okay?" She left to do as she was told.
Soap walked, looking concerned. "Ghost. Why are you on the floor?"
Ghost slammed his head hard enough back into the wooden floor it made a cracking noise. Soap cringed and quickly grabbed him by his shirt and forced him to sit up.
"I'm in a time loop I can't escape from. This is so fucking annoying." Ghost groaned and grabbed Soap, squeezing him like a teddy bear for stress relief. "I just want it to end. I can't believe I'm going to say this. I want it to be fucking tomorrow." He bit Soap shoulder before screaming his frustration out.
"Calm down, Lt, calm down." Soap writhed in his arms.
"Never going to get out."
Soap frowned. "Is this your first time telling me?"
"Yeah."
"Oh. How long have you been in here?"
"I don't know." Ghost groaned and squeezed harder.
Soap nodded. "So you haven't gotten a chance to get my passcode?"
That was it?? He just had to seem more pathetic and sad??
“I haven’t. Can you give it to me?”
“My passcode is 4497.”
Ghost squeezed him tighter. “Thank you thank you.”
The room span So fast they slammed into the wall, almost obliterating them.
Ghost woke up and screamed into his pillows again.
His body ached a lot from that one but… it sparked an idea.
Ghost grabbed his knife from under his pillow and went outside. He stabbed the girl over and over again.
The moon slammed into Earth, killing him instantly.
Ghost went to the mess hall and stood up in front of everyone. “I’m stuck in a time loop and I bloody hate all of you.”
He was teleported to Saturn.
Ghost shot the girl, set the base on fire with everyone inside and told Soap the pass code over and over again so he’d know what was going on. He carried Soap around when he fought him and he killed himself and everyone else so many times.
The girl didn’t knock this morning.
Considering he was in the base after blowing it up, he knew the day reset, so this made no sense. Quietly, he came out, gun in hand. He started to walk around the base, surprised by the quiet.
This was new. A way to stop him from breaking the rules? Maybe?
Ghost went to bed at exactly 4 pm and he was speared through his chest.
The girl knocked again. When he opened it, she was pissed.
“You are so Fucking unfun. What the fuck is wrong with you??”
“Kill yourself.”
“Motherfucker.” She shoved him. “You suck.”
Ghost shrugged. “Gonna kill Me again?”
“Yes.”
He slid through the floor and died again.
Ghost woke up and groaned. “Ow. Ow. Ow.” His whole body hurt. Every one of his deaths had caught up to him.
A knock at his door.
“Fucking hell.” He threw open his door. “Soap?”
“Hey Lt! Happy Halloween, sir.” He was in a zombie costume. “You okay?”
“Oh. It’s Halloween?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Do you remember anything from yesterday?”
“No.”
“Thank god. I love you.”
“Huh??”

I’ve read a few fics lately with some great timey wimey premises so if that’s your jam you might also enjoy them!
If I missed your fav please share in the comments! I love this sort of thing and will always want to read more.
Tumblr media
Some Version Of You by @ncc1701ohno
Summary: Bones is stuck in a time loop and stuck in his room. With Jim. He's forced to admit how intense this thing between them has gotten, how much he feels for Jim, even as he's been falling in love with Spock.
Does what happens in a time loop stay in a time loop?
Thoughts: I’m a sucker for time loops and this is just such a great short look at it with academy era McKirk.
Highlights: the angst! The longing! THE END!
It Ends Or It Doesn’t by @muirmarie
Summary: McCoy dies, and Kirk breaks his hand on a wall. Kirk dies to save McCoy, and McCoy breaks his hand on Spock's face for not stopping him. Spock dies, and he doesn't have to see what happens next, because the day resets. The day keeps resetting. McCoy keeps dying.
Thoughts: these self sacrificing idiots just love each other so much and I love THEM!
Highlights: there’s a loop towards the end where they accept what is happening and it’s probably my favorite part of this fic.
Grief As A Four Dimensional Figure by @jennelikejennay (moreta1848)
Summary: "One might arguably say it is not fully logical to care whether I cannot return to Vulcan because it no longer exists or because it is separated from me permanently in five-dimensional space.”
“No, I think I get it,” said Jim. “Like, I haven’t gone back to the old house in Iowa in years, but I do like knowing it’s there. If my mom sold it and it got knocked down, it would make a difference to me.”
The ambassador nodded. “Likewise, even in four-dimensional space, we are separated from the things we have lost only by distance—by the fact that we cannot easily travel along the timeline.” He marked out a section of his timeline, then a dot further back in the bottom timeline—Jim’s timeline. “My marriage is here. I am here, in a different timeline and at a different time. But my marriage exists. It is a figure in four-dimensional space which will continue to exist, in that sense, eternally. So long as the timeline does not collapse, it is a permanent part of history. So although I do not have my spouse with me, I know that he existed. That somewhere, in a time and a dimension I cannot go, we are meeting for the first time. That somewhere, I am asleep in his arms.”
Thoughts: I rarely like aos as much as tos fics, but this one worked so so well for me.
Highlights: every reference to the one with the whales, all the feelings about Amanda, all of Spirk’s big feelings about each other.
Way From Within by @gunstreet and @justveeing
Summary: Jim and Spock are assigned together for a rescue mission, and in the exhilarating aftermath, their attraction to each other comes bubbling to the surface. But the next day Spock is surprisingly distant, and the rest of the morning starts to seem eerily familiar to Jim...
Written by gunstreet and illustrated by lorvee, this is a K/S timeloop story in the vein of Palm Springs or Groundhog Day.
Thoughts: pretty sure we all collectively lost our minds about this one when it came out a few months ago, but if you haven’t read it yet it is GREAT. All the fun time loop tropes I love with Kirk and Spock at the center.
Highlights: the art is so good! I love seeing these scenes illustrated!
Happy reading everyone! 🖖

New "Murphy's Law" arc started!
Murphy's law = anything that can go wrong will go wrong.
More story under the cut. CW: blood and body horror (?)
-Today my classic self called me, the one everyone calls "Wiz". He wanted to meet me in private.
-He said that... after all I'm better than him.
-I did many mistakes in my life. When my timeline was still affected by resets, before... Flowey started using them to torture me, I spent those time loops doing "social experiments".
-I called them that, but it was just me doing somethin' stupid to see the reaction of passersby. I was very bored.
-But no, my other self went more far. Now he started real experiments on other monsters, and not always safe ones. This is not part of his job, no, he's having FUN doing THIS!
-This disgusting creature is becoming just like him.
-I couldn't stand the stupid smirk of my doppelganger. I- I c-couldn't stand the idea of me and him being the same person. ... I probably got carried away... even though I told Sci I would never try to hurt my other self Wiz again.
Tumblr media
-Yet he kept smiling. I can't stand him, I can't stand him, I CAN'T stand him.
-I needed someone to talk to, but I couldn't let my friends see me! I was too disgusted by him, by... myself to let them see me. And they couldn't know that I beaten him after what happened with Hacker!Error 505...
-Basic found Alex's body a few weeks ago in the Waterfall dump of an AU. When I found out I decided to heal her and hide her from Sci's jealousy. I love him, but I can't let him see her. I just want them both to be ok...
-I took Alex to my house to talk to her privately, but... my brother saw me, and he was holding his corpse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-I used a special material to keep the corpse from rotting and hid it in my pillowcase until now. When I killed him it wasn't enough for me, I NEEDED to see his corpse, KNOW that he's DEAD and that he won't come back ever again!
-I started to panic, too many things were happening all at once. 1) What my disgusting doppelganger did, and that I beaten him. 2) Papyrus saw Alex in my arms, what if he were to tell Sci she's alive? 3) And now everyone would find out that I killed Flowey. This is a problem, because everyone tried to convince me that "I'd be as bad as Flowey if I had to get my revenge". ...This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
-But my friends would abandon me if they knew all this! This thought was drilling into my skull.
-Papyrus did his best to calm me down, but I couldn't stop crying, I couldn't ignore that sense of guilt and fear inside of me. I failed everyone...
-I thought I was hopeless once more. AND I WASN'T WRONG.
-When I realized Frisk hadn't been home in hours, I asked Papyrus where they were, and he said: "Sans... Frisk left this morning to go at the castle... You know they were preparing to sacrifice themselves for us. They couldn't wait anymore..."
-I rushed to the castle. But Frisk... was... dead... sitting on the throne.
Tumblr media
-Despite everything their pale, bleeding corpse was still smiling...
-I brought the body to Asgore's house, there HAD to be something I could do to save them!!
-But... there wasn't...
-Asgore found me in his kitchen, I was completely out of me. I was so angry at him.
-Yet he spoke to me with a kind smile... He told me the barrier is now broken. He freed the human souls, but one wanted to stay.
Tumblr media
-Sadly Frisk's body is too damaged to keep the soul, but I'll find a way to give them a body back, and I'll also find a way to tell everyone my secrets.
-I'm sorry, old lady. I wasn't able keep your promise... At least we can finally see the sun.
Sci's reactions to the truth ->
---------------------------
Author note: I wanted to specify that the new design is due to how much Hopeless doesn't want to look like Wiz anymore. And yes, Wiz is canonically an anti-hero in Underwizard.
Speaking of the other characters' clothing, they have only changed their clothes due to the passage of time. Papy modified Frisk's hoodie after it got damaged in a RP ♡
Thanks for reading this far, and sorry for any misspellings :'3

As It Used to Be
Bone-mender!Reader x Miss Peregrine (platonic!)
Tumblr media
Everyone was sat around the dinner table, just as it used to be before. Everything was as it used to be, it was safe once more. Your fellow peculiars, your family, were laughing and joking… Jacob made a wonderful addition by bringing in some fresh conversation. And yet, you sat back in your chair staring at your plate, not engaging with anyone at all. You couldn’t stop the feeling of dread creeping over your bones.
A particularly loud laugh from Emma shook you from your daze, and you forced a smile on your face as you brought your focus back to your family. You thought no one had noticed your lapse in attention, but you had failed to notice the beady eyes of Miss Peregrine watching you curiously. She decided to keep a close eye on you until the reset.
After dinner, everyone watched Horace’s latest dream… everyone except you, that is. While everyone crowded around the sofa, you hovered behind your makeshift family like a guard dog, pacing the floor. Olive and Fiona noticed and frowned to each other, before returning their attention to Horace’s dream. Miss Peregrine, however, was growing increasingly concerned by your behaviour. She was about to pull you aside to find out what was wrong, when Horace’s dream ended and the children all began getting ready for the reset.
The headmistress was determined to get to the bottom of it after she maintained the loop. However, the younger children commanded her attention until they went to bed. She noticed your door was closed, suggesting you were in bed. So, she walked past your room with a small shake of her head, not satisfied that she’d have to wait until the morning to confront you.
You were still awake, however. Staring up at the ceiling, you tried to calm your racing mind down, to quieten all your thoughts. There was still that foreboding sense of fear, that something was going to happen again, you just couldn’t shake it.
It was not until the early hours of the morning that you managed to fall asleep, though you would not remain so for very long. You began to dream that the Wight and his hollowgast had come back. They grabbed Claire and Hugh and you heard a sickening crunch as the hollow broke their bones in an attempt to grab their eyes. You ran towards them, trying to touch them and use your peculiarity as a bone-mender to heal them both. But you were too late. You had failed to save them.
You woke up with a scream as your body involuntarily launched itself upright. Loud, shuddering breaths echoed in the room as you frantically searched your surroundings. Realising where you were, and knowing you’d had yet another nightmare, you slumped against the wall in defeat, allowing yourself to cry.
A few seconds later, you heard rushed footsteps heading towards you. In anticipation you turned your head towards the door, the relief of seeing Miss Peregrine rush in making you cry even more. “Oh, little one…” The headmistress muttered as she sat on the edge of your bed, reaching her hand out to rest on your shoulder. You launched yourself towards her, clinging onto your mentor in as a tight a hug as you could manage. After the initial shock Miss Peregrine returned the hug, smoothing down your hair as she gently shushed you.
“You had a nightmare, Y/N?” You nodded, sniffing as you tried to wipe your tears away. “I’m guessing this isn’t the first time, is it?” Miss Peregrine asked, though she already knew the answer. “No, it’s not.” You whispered, turning your gaze away from her.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” The headmistress asked, her hand softly clasping yours. “I didn’t think it was important.” You replied defensively, continuing to avoid eye contact. “Well, now that I’m here, would you like to tell me about these dreams?” Finally you raised your gaze to look at the Ymbryne, hesitating for a moment before deciding to give in.
“Its about the… the Wight. And the hollow.” You began, shuddering at the mere mention of them. “They keep hurting the others, my family. And I try to heal them, try to save them… but I’m always too late. I never make in time, I always fail to save them.” You struggled to maintain composure as you looked up into Miss Peregrine’s concerned gaze. “I have to protect them! I won’t let anything hurt them!” You felt yourself being pulled into another hug and you made no effort to resist, Miss Peregrine softly shushing you once again.
“I know you won’t, Y/N. You already do a wonderful job, and we are lucky to have a bone-mender with us.” Miss Peregrine pulled back, cupping your face gently, her thumb gently brushing your cheek. “But you don’t need to be on guard all the time. We are safe here, our adventure has passed. I hope to not need to return to battle for a long, long time.”
You nodded slowly, trying to take the words in, wanting to believe them to be true. “Why don’t we go downstairs and I’ll make you some nice soothing tea.” Miss Peregrine offered gently, standing up and offering her hand to you. “Thank you.” You whispered, pushing back the covers and climbing out of bed to join her. Her arm wrapped around you like a wing, and together the two of you spent a quiet early morning. You were safe, just like you used to be.

Fic/Au ideas!!
partially inspired by @mushroom-jack , more so inspired by the fact that I have forgotten about way too much shit in gdocs so here’s an attempt to actually collect all the (good) thoughts I have 💪
Tompercy
Generic Time Loop trope
Tom and Percy wake up in a padded room with no magic. they can still do magic. post apocalyptic scene where Muggles win in a war against magic (i.e, Statute leak)
muggles might “harvest” magic from users because they can’t generate it themselves (this relies on the fact that ambient magic is unharvestable or doesn’t exist)
leaning towards unharvestable— thinking maybe everyone has some ambient magic within them, and the statute was made to drain/consolidate magical power for several select few while the masses live without magic at all. with their newfound “equality,” the world is reverting back to how it was the days before the statute leak
EXCEPT for those who don’t “exist” in the present time
So in a radically popular move, even the strongest supporters of “equality” start nicely kidnapping and enslaving magicals from the past, except that just causes the magic to disappear even faster than before. damn this sounds like an allegory
in the building time doesn’t exist— constantly looping in this (prison? factory?) to reset “internal clocks” and also take advantage of disappearing magicals throughout the years = that’s how different generations are able to meet
cities have been built underground to avoid the fallout from the remnants of nuclear war
can also just be a generic experimentation AU 🤷
Suicide (ASOR)
Tom kills himself so Percy doesn’t lose his magic
Tom accidentally kills Percy with the cruciatus curse OR magically stunts him so that he’s intellectually disabled— think the Longbottoms w/ permanent intensive care
Tom ends up killing himself either way because he’s just fucked up the only person who really understood him
Percy kills himself after he kills Tom (in progress)
Either Percy or Tom dies from a magical drug overdose
Here’s some character studies!! (it gets progressively darker)
Hold me until you love me: (in progress)
Percy nearly lets Tom drown (or nearly drowns him himself, it’s not clear) but stops because he loves him
worst possible move
Tom ends up owing Percy a life debt
The longer a life debt goes unfulfilled the more the person feels inclined to pay them back
But Percy HAS to let it go unfulfilled because otherwise Tom will literally murder everyone
So much manipulation
“Stop it,” Percy whispers. “You’d stop it if you really loved me.”
Who even is Tom anymore. everything that makes Tom Tom gets kinda…melted away to save Percy’s friends
Essentially the imperius by the time it stops
just reverse everything Tom did to Percy but make it 10x worse
(you can’t) let me go
Tompercy infidelity au
Percy’s guilt complex makes a sudden reappearance
they were the friends with benefits in university who swears that they were just friends but in reality just miscommunicates to the point where they both feel like the other doesn’t want a real relationship
Tom leaves, gets successful, and then meets Percy…who’s now been married to Penelope for 5+ yrs
they hook up. regularly.
worst possible move
I bet Tom sleeps with basically everyone he knows to try and cope
I bet Percy knows, misinterprets this, and leans more into Penelope to try and cope
I bet Penelope knows but can’t stop it and can’t even imagine divorce (super traditional upbringing) so she just tries to pretend like the world doesn’t exist to try and cope
spoiler: Tom won’t let her and rubs it in her face at every opportunity because he’s jealous as fuck
some super toxic behaviors. gaslighting, manipulation, threats of self-harm, especially if the other tries to leave
this isn’t written for a reason 🫡
I have no need for love
detailing how Tom sleeps his way up to power/sexualizes and/or objectifies himself to survive
very very dubious consent (also rampant pedophilla)
explores Tom’s avoidant-fearful attachment style AND possibly some internal fears— fears that he’ll never be truly valued or loved as long as he’s conventionally handsome
BAMF Percy. beats the shit out of people on the streets. need I say more?
this has the potential to be mildly sweet despite the absolute depravity it contains. might write this
Slightly more happy stuff:
Royalty AU!! (in progress…)
Harry and Percy bonding moments 🫡
Harry’s the prince
Percy’s the peasant pet they stole from his family and keep around for entertainment. He’s allowed to live in the palace only at Harry’s whim
doesn’t feel like a peasant (too isolated) doesn’t feel like royalty (too ostracized)
Tom comes up to him and whispers that he recognizes him, he knows what Percy can do, he knows what Percy is capable of
Maladaptive Daydreaming AU:
can’t describe this too much bc I’m actively writing it lmao
Percy, out of the trauma he has experienced, retreats into the Occlumency shields of his mind to make something better
Telephone AU:
(Post-ASOR)
Percy has the possibility to make telephone calls to Tom at various stages of his life
they (re) fall in love
except one day Percy doesn’t call him
he waits for hours, days, years
Percy warns him not to become Voldemort. He becomes Voldemort out of spite, personally makes sure that Fred is killed but makes it look like an “accident”
that’s mean even for me how about we just make this a sweet love story
some miscellaneous Tombraxas (non-ASOR)
Abraxas mockingly teaches Tom how to be “human”
Enemies to lovers— Abraxas fell first, but Tom fell harder
Abraxas is the only person he’ll genuinely listen to
Tom is the only person he’ll hear out
Abraxas teaches him about pure blood heritage— he’s the one that gives him the pureblood record book, the book that allows Tom to make the Gaunt connection
Tom teaches him various dark magics— relentlessly innovative, contributes to the Malfoy Manor wards himself
confesses that he’s an orphan but Abraxas is his family!! he’s his home!!
they break up because Abraxas needs an heir lmfao and Tom resents him for it forever
literally fucking snags his son and his grandson as revenge
tomione
(I’m not a huge fan, but there are some ideas here that kind of carry over from tompercy)
Hermione is always relentlessly trying to fix Tom
Tom gets fed up with her and points out that trying to love someone into changing for them isn’t love, it’s manipulation
promptly tries to manipulate her back lmfao
they’re really toxic
Tom constantly dismisses her but that just makes Hermione more desperate to prove herself to him
eventually she comes to her senses and breaks up with him
but then that triggers Tom’s abandonment issues and he starts love bombing
if I ever wrote this, it’d just be an experiment on how toxic relationships work
mildly interesting though…hm…
I do not care what you do with these AUs 💪💪 send them to me though if you do anything with them bc I’d love to read what yall have come up with

time reset and crowley’s role
most people who read about twst theories probably know about the time loop theory. and now that we also got more hints about malleus’ power that’s able to stop time, i think it’s even more possible for this theory to be true (of course with malleus as the main culprit for it).
what disturbs me for now is how long did we, or at least grim (i will explain later), stay in the coffin before grim force opened it? remember that idia said that grim got an ancient curse on him that’s probably from thousand of years ago, but why did it just suddenly appear on him in this current era out of nowhere? it’s also mentioned a lot how grim is considered as a unique creature even in twisted wonderland, but based on what idia said about the curse, there should be no doubt that he really comes from twisted wonderland.
what if, the reason that yuu was in the coffin wasn’t simply because it was the mean to transport us (yuu) from our world into twisted wonderland, but because of the curse that malleus put? he did say that we wouldn’t notice even if a thousand years have passed when we’re asleep after all. remember how we lost the battle against grim at the very start of the game? in which not even malleus could even beat him? what if that very battle put yuu in danger and the only way to save everyone was to put the whole twisted wonderland fall into a deep slumber, including malleus himself (hence why we saw him raising from the same coffin). but he didn’t simply put everyone to sleep, he’s actually resetting whatever happened to try and prevent that outcome over and over again.
and that’s where crowley’s role lies. if this whole theory is true, then he’s probably the only one that’s aware of it. whether crowley’s really the principal or just some stand in that malleus put, his main role is probably to prevent the disaster from happening again after the reset. the other possibility is that yuu wasn’t actually involved in the original incident, but had only been summoned right before the reset started (that’s why i said at least only grim stayed for so long in the coffin in the 2nd paragraph), seeing how we immediately got the role as the beast tamer after we got there, to keep grim in check. also, don’t forget how crowley actively looked for the overblot stone as well in chapter 5, which should be the most efficient method to prevent grim’s incident if crowley succeed. and he also never seemed to put any effort to find a way home for us as well (even though he could send the tsums back to their world in an instant :<). the line which he said “we don’t have much time left” can also indicate that the reset is going to start instead of how malleus’ power is running out.
and maybe, it seems like they’re going to fail again in this time reset and malleus is once again forced to curse everyone into a deep sleep again in book 7, along with yuu this time. he might suddenly remember about the time reset and tries to do it again, that’s why he said “don’t be afraid”, because he had already experienced it.
however, there’s a huge plot hole that i couldn’t figure out yet about this theory, in which how the civilization work. if malleus put the whole twisted wonderland into sleep, then there’s no way for idia to figure out that grim’s curse is an ancient one from thousands of years ago, it should be like as if time doesn’t flow at all when they’re asleep, they wouldn’t know that it’s been a thousand year since they fell asleep. if he only did it to the ones impacted from grim’s incident, then there would be a huge gap between them and the outside world. and if he only put grim and himself to sleep, then the reset couldn’t happen at all. there’re also this dream variable with silver and mickey that i haven’t calculated in this thought yet.
after all that’s said, i notice how this theory is still full of flaw and has been a huge “what if”, you see. it’s pretty wild, but at the same time still pretty possible, i think. i’m sorry if you find this post a mess of a writing, i was still arranging my thoughts as well at the same time that i wrote this lol.

Spy x Family but make it Re:Zero AU (essentially: every time Loid is killed, he “returns by death” to a certain save point)
Loid is the one who has return by death and he can’t talk to anyone about it but Anya can read his mind so it’s nbd
Can you imagine going through the most traumatizing things and dying and returning to the past being immortal in the worst way and unable to speak to anyone about this ability BUT the 4 year old you fake-adopted knows because she’s secretly a mind reader. Yeah. Yeah.
Loid doesn’t know it was her but he’s been killed by Yor a lot
Loid forgets the groceries once and that was the first time he tried to intentionally trigger return by death. It didn’t work but he died from food poisoning so. All’s well that ends well?
The goal of return by death isn’t actually to help him on missions or anything, although it could maybe be useful there if he weren’t so competent. More often it works to help him become a better dad
Loid, thinking to himself: Okay, I have returned to Anya’s tantrum seven times and tried seven different methods. She clearly responds better to a gentle manner and--
Anya, who is listening to her dad analyze seven loops involving her as a subject, is so baffled and caught off-guard that she just. Stops throwing her tantrum. Loid still has no idea how that happened.
Loid being at MASSIVE risk of falling to paranoia and depression but Anya and Yor are there to comfort and take care of him
Loid: Is anything I do any use? It all resets. I keep trying but can I truly attain perfection each time? Why am I doing this? I must try to be perfect. I--
Anya, having no clue what Loid is thinking: Daddy you’re kind of stinky but I love you
Loid, having a Massive Epiphany that trying his best is more than enough and he can’t get trapped in the cage of perfectionism: >:O
Anya, at some point: I want cake! Loid, who’s on his third loop: Okay, so the cake store is downtown where the bomb is... the bomb is set to go in an hour, I can evacuate everyone downtown in that time to prevent casualties but I still haven’t found the place yet due to time constraints and prioritizing lives... should I sacrifice people to find it instead? Is that even moral? But I will reset.... Anya, reading her dad’s mind and Mega Spooked: Never mind, I actually want to go home....

And on the protag's side, now that they're aware that their actions do in fact have consequences, it's not like they can just stop dying, particularly during the very hard noble fights. They can stop being so perfectionist about everything, even if maybe they fall back into bad habits when they stop paying attention, but the noble battles took me a lot of tries every time, even when I took the shortcut of starting in the middle of them again. So with every reset, that's more added guilt. If they've become, or already were prior to Hisui, a perfectionist, they already have that mindset of "I could be better, I should be better," but now it's got the added weight of guilt and anxiety and shame of "it's my fault for not being better at this already, I'm personally responsible for someone's suffering I can't afford to fail". That might make the noble battles even harder too, because now they're desperate to get things done quickly without dying, and the added stress makes them hasty and prone to bad judgement calls.
A lot of the time Ingo and the protag have a good relationship, but in this situation how could they possibly look at Ingo without drowning in their self-disgust? How could they possibly forgive themself - for being so blasé about their own life, for hurting him, for not being better - even if he himself has forgiven them? That's a lot for a kid to take, especially in an already stressful, high-stakes environment. They treated this like a video game, maybe to help cope with the trauma of it all, but what helped them get through things so far has completely wrecked another person's mental health, and there's nothing either of them can do about it. The protag quite abruptly realizes that the genre of the "game" they were playing was never adventure, it was survival horror, and they never noticed until it was too late.
And in the other scenario... god, why even try? After a few times, why even bother doing literally anything? Your whole life could be functionally reset, even if you're careful and cautious. And on Emmet's end, imagine if time isn't distorted to a few weeks. He could go years before, poof, he's back to when Ingo went missing. Years of his life, gone, to the worst moment and he never even gets the chance to save Ingo. That'd fuck him up so much, especially if he ever came to the horrible conclusion that things being reset means that, somewhere, somehow, Ingo probably died. And with every failed attempt to save Ingo at the start of the loop, the guilt and horror and desperation to find him before he dies again gets worse.
Everyone is having such a good time.
YES!! YES!!!
and like, the noble fights SHOULD be hard to win. they SHOULD take a long time to get right, because in-universe, you're fighting a monster with the power of a god, driven out of its mind by divine corruption and with its only thought being to tear and rend and destroy. and you are. a human. having a food fight with it. honestly, it's more unbelievable that non-timelooping protags pull it all off on the first try unscathed.
which is already so fucked for timeloop protag, b/c whatever their relationship to the looping was in the very start of the game (or if they were even aware of it), once they got to kleavor, they had to die. over. and over. and over. learn how to dodge this way for its first attack, only to get hit by the second. learn how to turn you both so that none of the onlookers are in the line of fire. the final loop they take looks like magic, them dancing through these deadly axes and never being touched, being perfect—of course galaxy and the clans send them after the next one, and the next, and the next. it seems miraculous, their ability. with a power like that, how could you not take advantage of it? nobody knows how much it costs them in twitchy reflexes and invisible scars. until somebody does.
bc like. this is going way the way back to that canon thing where galaxy is still considering the protag's worth after they've joined, and one of the conditions is if they get hurt and suddenly cost more resources than they bring in. they get kicked out. so protag can't just not die. they can't get hurt, period. or at least not bad enough to the point where they can't still work as a surveyor, which is like, in a fight with a noble, getting hurt with only a light scratch is much rarer than getting a limb snapped. so protag really does need to be perfect.
and then ooooof to them feeling pressured to get it right as fast as possible after finding out about ingo. at least once they know him, they can give him a warning or an explanation when they're about to be facing something that's going to be really hard...? y'know i typed that out intending to say something else but like. reading it back i feel like the protag thinking that's ok. like how the fuck would ingo consider that an acceptable statement. "i'm going to go throw myself at electrode a hundred times until i get a perfect run where i don't get hurt" the hell you are! isn't this what we were just talking about! just don't do the thing that gets you killed a hundred times! but then how do you suddenly convince everyone involved that you suddenly need to change your entire strategy for dealing with frenzies, without telling everyone about the entire time-resetting clusterfuck. there's kind of no good way, huh. and that's if they don't hear about time resetting and just agree that "ok, i guess you respawn if you die so just die over and over. it's been working out great so far. obviously this is what god intended." which you have no guarantee of. so protag's stuck between this really uncomfortable scenario of either trying to figure out some way to proceed without resetting, only to potentially defeat the entire exercise if they forget or slip back into perfectionist habits. or they can go against ingo's wishes and try to tank the frenzy anyway. both of which feel awful to them!
but like. even if they could somehow guarantee that they'd never die again, most of the damage has already been done. ingo just sort of passively assumes now that nothing he remembers is accurate, or at least, if anything is, it's such a small fraction of it as to be entirely unreliable anyway. even knowing that the loops are real and he isn't just dreaming them up, it's so hard to keep track of which things happened in aborted loops vs which things actually happened. he doesn't even keep track of days anymore. looking at a calendar or anything like that is almost nauseating, realizing how off his perceived passage of time is from what's "really" happening. just going through life in a fog. probably none of this is real, anyway. no matter how real it feels now, it might all evaporate in the next instant. which is made all the worse by the fact that i think ingo legitimately does have a very good memory, when all this shit isn't actively fucking with it as much as possible. he remembers it all so clearly—but nobody else does. and then things that did happen, according to everyone else, he doesn't remember at all. so this one thing that he should be good at has now been taken from him too.
and if protag does inevitably fuck up, imagine their own hurt when they next see ingo. you reset? trying to sound level and normal but with the undercurrent of please tell me you reset. please, tell me any of that was real. reminded all over again what they did to him, and will never get a chance to erase.

I ramble about the new Madoka magica trailer and theories
(This is all just my personal interpretation and is somewhere between speculation and what I personally think could be cool)
From what the trailer has shown I think there might be multiple Homura’s in Walpurgisnocht Rising. From all the different ways she appears in the trailer, to the final shot where we see her multiple times in said different versions, and of course the promotional image with two Homuras. If I had to guess this isn’t quite the same as how Homura split Madoka from the law of cycles, but sort of similar.
Madoka’s power to become an entity and reshape the universe came from her immense karmic destiny. But Homura has always gained her power through repeated use of her power to time travel and endlessly loop until she can affect change. It could definitely be a stretch, but I think it makes sense thematically if even now that Homura has gained enough power to remake the world and ‘save’ Madoka from the law of cycles, the only way she maintains that is by ensuring the world maintains the cycle that led to her gaining power in the first place.
Essentially there would be (at least) two different realities. The one that Homura has crafted to keep Madoka and everyone else safe in and the world which Homura keeps in an eternal loop (probably the one being talked about at the start over the phone and that world is probably the same as or similar to the world from the show) with magical girls having to face their curses, and Homura having to eternally suffer trying to save a doomed Madoka. That constant suffering is the only way Homura has enough power to prevent Madoka from being the law of cycles. (If I had to guess the resetting probably has something to do with Walpurgisnocht considering how much the show is themed like a play and how it always starts and ends with Walpurgisnocht)
Homura was only able to save Madoka in rebellion when her wish had filled her with despair enough to become a witch and she had essentially died. Therefore Homura sustains a world where wishes will lead to despair and become curses. Homura is ensuring her own constant suffering reliving the torturous events of the show to maintain the reality where she has saved Madoka and given her a happy life.
This could also play off many of the unreal and play-like elements of the show. Namely it opening with curtains opening. Things like the unreal architecture, and witch titles (plus there’s more, I saw a really good analysis on it before, but can’t remember exactly). It’s basically a continual performance directed by Homura… the final line in the trailer too…
Basically Homura is kind of serving as an entity who keeps the events of the show, or at least that world where magical girls would succumb to the curses of their wishes repeating forever so that she can stay in power (and Walpurgisnocht is how the world is reset maybe??? I mean Walpurgisnocht was always the end of Homura’s loops before)

Another Beautiful Day (First Years x Yuu)
Tumblr media
(gif taken from google, originally uploaded to tumblr but user apparently deleted)
You have been having strange dreams lately. Every time you go to sleep you se the same set of flashing images, a carriage ride, a crumbling castle under a ink stained sky, ending in the jaws of a monster. The pain you feel from the flames makes you wonder, on nights when you are alone in Ramshackle with Grim, if those dreams are less fiction and more of a memory.
You are not the only one who has those dreams. There's another, laying awake in his bed, hand clutched tightly over his frantically beating heart trying desperately to hold the fraying edges of his sanity together. How many times has he done this? How many times has he tried to hold onto the last fleeting traces of warmth in you with his cold, unworthy hands.
Again. He loves you, that is the one thing that refuses to change no matter how many times the world is reset. He loves you, he has no choice but to try again.
notes: they/them pronouns used for Yuu, hurt almost no comfort, borderline yandere behavior. If this made you feel something you can check out the other parts on my masterlist.
Tumblr media
Ace
There was, perhaps still is, a pretty viral theory about Ace being a traitor involved in resetting time. While I can't ever see Ace purposefully causing Yuu's death ever, I can see him deciding that if he has to play the villain to get the outcome that he wants, well then, that's just what he's going to have to do. Ace knows how to annoy people, comes with the youngest child territory, more specifically he knows how to annoy you. He can stand having no one if it means everyone's focus is on keeping you safe, it's easier to admit that he loves you when no one's around to hear it. It occurs to you that he might, it even crosses your mind that the strange dreams your time-loop troubled subconscious is so desperate to hang onto, ones where you are with someone you love dearly, could be about him. How else would he know how to push all your buttons, why else does he always know when and where you'll be in trouble. If Ace doesn't love you, why does he know all the things you like about this world before you do? It's a painful thing to be known, even more so if the person who knows you refuses to let themselves be vulnerable with you. The more things change the more they stay the same... huh?
Deuce
Ever watched Tokyo Revenges? I know some of you have, I can see you. Anyway Deuce might not be a crybaby but he is loyal, determined, and stuck on desperately trying to save you. Well not just you, Deuce realizes that Overblot Grim spells doom for a lot more people that just those inside NRC. Sage's island might be remote, but people still live there, if the monster got out who knows what sort of damage it will do? He tries his best to be normal around you, to befriend you and protect you in just the same way he did before, but he's a much more serious and moody person than he was the first loop around. How is he supposed to explain to you he couldn't save you, that he's watched you die countless times and only had ashes to hold and cry over? Not just you either, he's seen Ace and Epel and Jack, hell even Sebek, Die over and over again because he wasn't smart enough to stop it. Ace manages to pick up on something being wrong, and Deuce being Deuce he fails to lie properly, "dragging him into his mess." But he can tell Ace doesn't mind. He takes his impending doom as a challenge, encouraging Deuce to do so as well. He's stupid, he should just give up and let someone smarter save you. But he's your stupid, kind of crybaby hero. He'll save you, just you see.
Jack
Trying to save you is as much an instinct to Jack as it is raw emotion. You are his soulmate, there is nothing casual about his investment in your relationship, nothing short of divine intervention that will keep him from trying to save you. But he will admit he feels rather unprepared for this... development. It's all well and good to say you will break reality before he lets it take you from him, but actually being strong enough to do that? Jack's a good boy, but no matter how smart he is he's a bit of a muscle head. He throws himself into problems fist first, without any back up unless someone yanks him by the scruff and forces him to look at it. Usually that's you, sometimes it's Ruggie or Leona, but in the past it was you. He knows he can't keep himself from you, even if that could make you safer. Unlike the first timeline, he makes sure to introduce himself as early as possible, makes sure to be with you for every overblot. You might find it annoying but he'll push you to train just enough so that you'll have the speed to run when the final monster comes. Maybe this time, he'll be strong enough to kill it before it catches up to you.
Epel
Sleep Kiss cannot put you to sleep forever. Yet. Yes yet, Malleus isn't the only one who thinks letting you nap forever is a good idea. Great minds think alike, and unlike Malleus's, Epel has an added bonus. He can encase you in a glass cage that is literally meant to protect you from anything that wants to hurt you. Not that you would ever expect this plan from Epel. He's cute, kind, non-threatening when you're paying attention, the most you see of his temper as the loops continue is the slightly bratty glare he focuses on pre-overblot housewardens. And the headmage, but hey any anger at him always gets a pass from him. Not that you need to worry about that, once Epel masters his spell you won't have to worry about anything. He does wonder if you'll be able to dream, the first time he cast his spell on you it was like you didn't realize anything had happened at all. Maybe he won't tell you anything, maybe he'll wake you up every once and a while to convince you that you were never asleep at all. But that's not a concern for now, all you need to do is close your eyes and sleep. Sleep and wait for your Prince to return from the war.
Sebek
Following the current timeline, events aside, Sebek is on the outside of your friend group. No one likes him, he can't sit with you. The only real reason Sebek has to pay attention to you is because Malleus does. And he has to admit he doesn't exactly hate what he sees, he just- doesn't want to give credit to a human. When time is re-set though, he goes out of his way to befriend you, convinced he needs to keep an eye on you to save his lord. After all, how could he not find it suspicious that Malleus befriends some random human from not-Twisted Wonderland and then suddenly overblots? He is ready to strike at the first sign of betrayal, but he does not find it. He finds a human, weak and flawed, but paitent and kind with him, unwilling to let him talk down to them but still willing to talk. You die, but you never stop trying. You refuse to let the flaws he picks at stop you from trying to live. You refuse, no matter how many times he yells about the amount of times he has lost his lord, lost you, to let him do all the work alone. There is beauty in your struggle, in your life. He can't betray this for his lord, even if it was the cause of his plight. It's Silver he turns to for help, begging him for guidance through tears as he desperately clings to you. He finds it of course, he never had to do any of this alone, but he should know by now that doesn't guarantee success, no matter how much he wants it to.

What about a time loop where the deaths are permanent. What if the only way to progress is to lose someone. How long until you figure it out. How long until you are driven mad enough to comply? Do you spend years going through the motions of a single day, every time securing the ladder, hiding the gun, dumping out the alcohol, convincing them to spend the night instead of driving in the rain? What if you spend years doing that, refusing to give in, and then one day you finally just aren't fast enough? Your hand slips? The knot is too stubborn? You miss the bus? You oversleep? When the new morning finally dawns after a thousand identical days of constant cloud, and you see the brilliant rays of sun—alone—knowing you both get to and have to move forward—without them—will there be an iota of relief among the pain? Or will your dread simply reset knowing that even having lost one, you still have so many more loved ones to watch out for, an unknown threat to uncover before it's too late, with no margin for error this first time around?
Imagine how haunting it would be to know that it will never end until you have lost completely. Each day of your loop the grief will be completely fresh for everyone around you. For you, even. It will always be day one of grief until there is no one left to lose. When the numbers start to dwindle... irrevocable...will you ever give up? When the day has repeated a hundred times with no incidents that seem to bring anyone close to death, would you ever feel the flickering urge to take matters into your own hands? Quickly banished, of course. Of course. You could never bring yourself to be party to that, and even a moment's lapse of caring at the wrong time would be a mistake you will never be able to take back...as you know only too well by this point. You're still mourning the loss of your latest failed attempt. You'll be mourning them the rest of your life. Just because every attempt to save them will eventually fail does not mean you are allowed to stop trying. Are you allowed to start mourning them before they die?

the weird Yuuniverse concept tuu(?)
🐱
So I'm debating whether or not to make it another great 7 Yuu or not, but basically,
Yuu if following the plot of NRC and stuff blah blah blah. They eventually however meet someone in the Mirror, Yuuya (the first Canon yuu). Yuuya seeks to guide Yuu and help them along their journey through twst. As stuff unfolds, Yuuya tells them the truth. They are in a time loop that will either end in Death or Failure, usually both. Yuuya tells them of the past Yuus, Yuuken, Yuuka and how they succumbed to their demises against the overblots and such.
Yuuya was one of the first Yuus, and they were one of the few that actually defeated malleus, sort of, they are one of the few yuus that can reset the loop. After each painful death Yuuya started losing it
They've saved everyone, they hurt everyone, they read every book and burned them, they fell in love, they destroyed. For every loop they brought peace there was one wrought with death. But even when they finally got the best possible ending, they lost. They don't remember how though, in fact whatever they went through was so horrible they begged the very first Yuu to exist to delete their memory of their death along with wiping everyones memory of them.
There in only one other Yuu that had the ability to manipulate timelines, Tuu. And they too fell into the murderous experimentation that is looping
They were the very first Yuu to ever exist. They have died to everything and had to constantly relive their deaths to perfect their times lines
They beat the blots when they were the most powerful- the beginning of the timeline, as they absorbed the excess blot/hatred off of them throughout their loops, leaving everyone with the more tame Blots of the canon.
This however made them into a monster of sorts, and stripped away everything from them. After all they came to TWST when they were a child, but they kept aging through each loop. It took away everything from them, their body as it was now made of ink, their life, their friends. Everything. They gave everyone a good ending, and get couldnt get one themselves.
And even in the end it was for nothing, because it looped again and chose another Yuu instead since there was nothing left of the original.
However not every Yuu can loop, only a select few, the main character Yuu being one of them
As Yuuya says they are rooting for them; saying they hope they free everyone, Tuu reminds them to reconsider
If you stop it then what? The students have lost years of their lives already. It doesn't bring back any of the Yuus that died for nothing, it just damns them into oblivion, breaking the loop now just created another one.
But our Yuu has power. Why not use that to bring back the others? To reign Supreme over twisted wonderland
Yuu doesn't get it, they say they are stopping the loop, they want to go home! Plus it's not like their friends will remember them anyways since they forgot all of the previous yuus, they made peace with that long ago!
"Home? Tell me Yuu, where is home?" Yuu panics as the realize all of their memories of the past seem blank, they cannot seem to even remember a blink of their childhood as it was blurry.
"I am telling you this now not because I care, but because you have done this before. We have had this conversation many times. Every time you say you can change the future it leads you right back here to us, isn't that right Yuuya?"
Yuuya frowns and nods
"Wait I've been looping this entire time without remembering and you never told me?!"
The original yuu let's out a hoarse laugh. "Yes. You see why I say instead to destroy the world entirely rather than keep up this damn horror story? You would rather let the Yuus here rot and wallow in misery than end their suffering"
"I don't like how angry you are. You're just saying that because you're upset about your ending! I'm trying to make my own!"
"Oh yuu, I already know how your ending goes" the original yuu seems to pause, and the ink that consumes their body pulls back as Yuu sees their own face reflected back at them.
"No..."
"Yuu, you become me. I have had this conversation with you, with myself, hundreds of times now, no matter what we do, it always results in me. Don't you get it? Your memories are blank because you never had a life, a childhood. You've been stuck in this loop trying to save yourself over and over. They took everything from us. Our life, our home, our family, our body!" Tuu gestures the ink that consumes them. "I saved everyone! Turned them into their best selves, they turned us into this! Left us to rot! Look at us! Do you seriously want to continue living like this?"

Another round of older fic recommendations - somehow I'm still not done going through all my old FFnet favs. I'm including Ao3 links where I can and describing the fics in my own words.
The Master Manipulator by Guildsister - Robert Hogan has been fighting the Nazis in whatever capacity he can since before his country even joined the war and he's not about to stop now just because he's become a PoW.
This one isn't just a favorite Hogan's Heroes fic, it is The Favorite. The best I've read and what comes to mind first when I feel like reading Hogan's Heroes fanfics. Guildsister did a lot of research for this fic, the characterization of Klink here is my absolute favorite, and Hogan's back story just makes so much sense that I forget sometimes it's not canon. It captures the spirit of the show while grounding it more firmly in reality. It's rated T and found on FFnet.
An Unacceptable Sitch by Allaine - Kim's in college and out of the world saving business, or at least she was until Shego shows up one evening asking for Kim's help. The family that's taken over what was Team Possible's niche isn't the clan of goody two-shoes that everyone thinks they are and both Kim and Shego are going to need to put aside their differences if they're going to get themselves back in fighting shape to stop them.
This is the first in a series - six completed fics and one unfinished - that eventually winds up Kim/Shego for the ship. It ignores the events of S4 - I think it may have been started before Kim and Ron hooked up on the show? - so Kim and Ron never dated here. It's one of my favorite Kim Possible fic series, as it captures a lot of what I really enjoyed about the show. Kim's struggles with accepting herself and her feelings for Shego over the course of the series is also interesting - and considering her difficulties with her social life on the show, feels very true to the character. It's rated T and found on FFnet.
Home for the Holidays by Acid Rain - In which the orphanage gang gets together for the holidays and naturally winds up fighting a natural disaster. But the natural disaster is probably still a lot less stressful than the holiday shopping that preceeded it.
It's part of a series, but stands alone quite well. A Seifer/Squall post canon fic with lots of humor. It's actually a multi-author collaboration and I know at least one of them can be found on Ao3 these days. This fic, however, is rated M and found on FFnet.
Insomnia by tikitikirevenge - Link may have time travel on his side, but that doesn't mean he's got all the time in the world. He can only reset reality so many times before the consequences start to set in…
This one is an unfinished retelling of Majora's Mask. And while it doesn't seem likely this one will be finished, it's well worth the read. It really captured the unsettling feeling of Majora's Mask and the urgency of the time limit comes through with how here everything is happening concurrently - so while Link is helping in the swamp in the fic, future versions of him are already completing tasks in other areas. And he only has so many loops before things go wrong anyway. It's rated T and found on FFnet.
A Brief Account of Life With Zombies by Silverpard - The zombie apocalypse happens. Of course the Holmes brothers find it a nuisance more than anything.
A short but humorous zombie fic set in the Sherlock tv series. Not usually a zombie fan, but silly parodies like this are definitely my cup of tea. I was pleased to find this over on Ao3 (and there's a pod fic of it too) where it's rated G. It's epistolary style, with emails and texts mainly, so there's a bit of distance to the apocalypse too.
To the Sticking Place by zephyras13 - Ianto Jones is sent to Torchwood 3 before the destruction of Torchwood 1 as a field agent meant to keep an eye on the place for Yvonne Hartmon. And Jack hates him for it. But it is hard to hate a person forever. And there's more to Ianto Jones than he lets on.
It's a canon re-write with a dash of fix-fic, though poor Owen and Tosh still don't make it. It's really good with Jack/Ianto as the main ship - the disasters. It's rated M and I was glad to find it over on Ao3.
Truthfully by Salazarfalcon - Loki is absolutely all about causing chaos and starting trouble… but Earth also has this little thing called therapy and it's might actually be helping.
In which Loki starts working out his issues in therapy, discovers he enjoys self care, and becomes more than a bit attached to the Earth. There's no ship here, just family feels and Loki coming to terms with being lied to all his life. Rated T and found on FFnet.
To Turn to the Dark Side, Press Three by frodogenic - The true path to the dark side… being put repeatedly on hold with the insurance company. The hold music keeps playing operas about the Sith - it's really only a matter of time…
A ridiculously silly story about Anakin having to deal with the insurance company after having his arm chopped off by Dooku. He gets put on hold. A lot. The fic is rated G and is indeed on Ao3.
To Save the Queen by AwayOHumanChild - Sabe is living out her dreams of being handmaiden to the Queen when war comes to Naboo. First in a series spanning the Prequel series.
While it's partly a fix-fic, it's mainly just a 'what was going on with the handmaidens' fic. It's a lot of fun - I absolutely adore all the different handmaidens - and there's some Sabe/Obi-Wan going on (very, very, very slowburn) alongside the canon Anakin/Padme. Rated K+ on FFnet. At one point it did start getting cross posted to Ao3, but alas it appears that effort was abandoned part-way through the first fic some years ago. But the series is complete on FFnet and it's one of my favorite Prequel Series fanfics.
Letter to the Manufacturer by Alexis Seven - Kirk writes a complaint about the parachutes used during the mission to Vulcan and ends up in an email chain regarding product warnings and complementary parachutes.
A somewhat dark comedic take on customer service regarding the parachutes used in the 2009 Star Trek movie. Written in epistolary form, it's basically a series of emails back and forth between Kirk and the company that made the parachutes. Rated K+ and found on FFnet.
