Maybe you’ve heard about Genshin Impact, the #1 video game on all of Tumblr, and maybe you’ve actually had a chance to go outside and touch some grass this year. Either way, the massive boom in this game’s popularity cannot be disputed or understated. We even know dads who play this game. The first time it popped up on our weekly Video Games list was October 5, 2020. That was about a week after it was released, and it hasn’t left the top 5 since. Seriously.

It’s not your average gacha game and, in its first year since launch, has drawn an audience of gacha enthusiasts and open-world adventure game fans alike. A lot of that can be attributed to compelling story arcs and gameplay and a wish system that keeps players deliciously frustrated and coming back month after month.

At the core of Genshin Impact is its cast of characters. It’s clear that Tumblr has fallen in love with each and every playable character, NPC, and boss—and even a few weaponized friends. With a world as expansive as Genshin’s, it’s also impossible not to mention the beautiful landscapes of its three regions. Inazuma is the surprising favorite, considering it was only added to the map in July. It has a whopping 139.6% more engagements than the next highest region, Liyue. Sorry, Mondstadt. At least you gave us Diluc.

I just did ayatos's story quest and your story fits his personality so well. Amazing since it was before he was released. I like the idea of his kind face masquerading him furthering his own agenda in the shadows 🤭

I WAS SO RELIEVED ... i consider characterization and dialogue to be my Two strengths so if mr ayato ended up being vastly different from how i imagined him i was going to be real sad about it. i really like how they went about doing his character story. one of my main complaints about how they went about using kokomi in the story is how we kept hearing she was a prodigious battle planner, good enough to put robin fire emblem awakening to shame, then they went and undermined that with the whole delusions in the resistance shtick with the last leg of the archon story for inazuma.

granted, they did make up for this in kokomi's interaction with sara (although the NPCs doing such dumb stuff to play to kokomi's advantage was a little silly but not too much to break my suspension of disbelief), i felt nervous when characters kept talking about ayato and his schemes. i was wondering if it'd be another kokomi situation where he'd just do something really obvious and make him out to be this crazy genius.

while his character story isn't like. war and peace level of literature, i appreciated that they had him sticking to the kamisato clan's interests while also aligning with his morals (helping chisato because her unfortunate position reminded him of what he dealt with when taking over the kamisato clan). very good stuff.

Yep. Have put so much money into this game and having it spat back at me. "honkai first year rewards were worse!" yeah, because honkai 1st year didn't make nearly as much as genshin impact first year. that being said, we've been not just complaining at the start of the release of the rewards.

we're people who ALREADY paid for characters like Yoimiya, Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara, and does it even need to be said KOKOMI, and being blatantly spit on despite consistent and reasonable compaints--it's not that Yoimiya is weak (she is, but that's not the point), her whole focus is on auto attacking and she misses about 30% of her shots because hit boxes are messed. Raiden Shogun is an amazing stand alone character, but with electro's weakness she lacks functionality for what she is made for, a "sub dps". And you know they CAN make good, unique characters--Kazuha, Sayu, Ayaka. People will say we criticize everything--WE DON'T! We spend money on characters we love for them to not be up to snuff.

And not just money. Artists, cosplayers, guides all do FREE MARKETING of genshin impact. So much time and appreciation. What we're getting back for it--nothing. I don't want a free five star. I look at that glider and it screams hush money. It's a concert glider, it's not an anniversary glider. They KNOW putting it in a paid packet would be insult to injury. And people are actually letting it fool them and are saying we're crazy for being upset over the anniversary rewards, despite how many times we say, it's not that, we've been complaining for MONTHS and mihoyo has NOT LISTENED TO US, and on top of that, after a whole year of easy QoL stuff missing, they spit on our devotion to their product with 60 primogems and then a "free" glider they wanted to sell anyway.

Mihoyo bootlickers keep bootlicking just know they don't care about you. They don't care about whales, dolphins, goldfish, F2P, they care about physical tangible money, not the people spending it.

Lumping everyone upset with anniversary rewards with the same people who are harassing voice actors & reviewbombing etc etc diminishes why we're upset and why we're doing this. Not everyone is here for drama. Some of us are here because we, put simply, LOVE THIS GAME!!! And want it to succeed!!! But not when it feels like the devs themselves want to see it fail and won't communicate with us. Yes, people are being immature, as happens with any protest.

Not every person upset right now is complaining because of rewards/lack thereof. this was just the break in the dam that was poorly built from the get-go and months of the community not being listened to

It’s unfortunate that I only understand English and thus, most of the media I gain in fandoms is the Western side of things. I do my best to watch the original language of content, which is why I watched the Chinese trailer first, but without subtitles or the dub for it, I was pretty much left clueless. So, while I’d love to continue a discussion on the “Ei” situation and whether it is a name or something other, I don’t have enough knowledge on the Chinese language to form a proper response.

The most I can say is that in the English version, Yae’s line is, “Surely you don’t think your ambition alone is enough to shake Ei’s will? Do you?”. In the English version (the subtitles, at least) Ei was not in quotes, which is disappointing since it leads to both the Western side of the fandom and the Eastern side having completely different takes on it.

I do agree that the Kokomi and Sara situation is definitely some twist. It makes me wonder if the Fatui are using the Shogunate, or vice versa. I haven’t processed this part of the trailer enough to formulate any sort of analysis, or even a theory, besides the fact that Sara might have her own separate reasons for fighting than just her loyalty to Raiden.

Now, your Scaramouche theory/analysis had me completely taken aback. I hadn’t even thought about that, but it makes a lot of sense! I think it’s well thought out, but I don’t have much to say on Scaramouche or his personality since I didn’t play during 1.1 and I haven’t watched the event he appears in on YouTube yet, so I don’t know whether or not certain information one him was released that I don’t know that would help me agree with the theory.

I’m going to go off topic for a second, but in the end it will correlate back to Scaramouche and your theory. During one of the scenes in which they “leaked” certain dialogue from the act, the very first one talks about how Baal fought in the Archon War (glad that was confirmed, but leaves me with more questions that I’d have to make a separate ask about another time) and towards the end of the dialogue, the solider that was speaking mentioned how it’s said that Baal lost something dear to her during the War (paraphrasing a bit).

Aether and Barbara’s voice actor gave quite few hints (if not spoilers) away regarding this specific dialogue discussion. Aether’s Eng VA mentions how we all likely have different beliefs as to what it was Baal lost, but that if we picked up with what has taken place in Inazuma it’s be more obvious to guess. (I’m 99% sure they’re referencing Saiguu). Aether’s VA goes on to say, “All I can say is that the gradual process of losing things and facing changes over the years had a big influence on the Shogun.”

Barbara’s Eng VA then cuts in and talks about how the “dear loss” Raiden faced was the catalyst behind her decision in the Vision Hunt and Sakoku Decree, and so while I love your theory, I think that whatever it was that happened in the War also has a play in everything. Seeing as how the livestreams are scripted and the VAs already know what’s happened, I find it weird that this was mentioned and such.

Kaeya’s Eng VA even goes on to mention how, “I [he] can’t help but wonder if the Raiden Shogun is really the cold-hearted character that we saw in Version 2.0.” (I honestly sighed so hard at this reveal, not that it was unexpected, but to be said so casually.)

Skipping towards the last scene of dialogue they “leaked” (I can’t find the right word for it) the confrontation with Raiden this time round seems to be a lot more well mannered and conversational than the last time. (I wonder if this takes place after the scene showed in the trailer where Yae comes in and talks to Aether while fighting Baal.) I don’t have too much to say about that dialogue, to be honest, everything seemed pretty straight forward with what was going on.

While I don’t really have anymore I want to hyper analyze right now- that we haven’t already -I do want to mention Baal’s voicelines that was given after her mini-demo. When she says, “I command the thunder in all corners of the world to cease. Rest well tonight.” If this voiceline didn’t throw me for one big loop. I suspected that she was going to be a kinder soul than what we had seen originally, but wow. This voiceline really had me feeling, well, calm in a way. Like a sense of at ease was washed over me through all the overwhelming information. I think that’s mostly due to the gentle tone that it was spoken in, which leaves me to wonder when this voiceline is said (my guess would be in the teapot).

i gotta say, i wasn't paying attention during the dialogue 'leaks' so i had to go rewatch them AHAHAHA

yes you're right! it seems the war definitely had a much bigger impact on baal than whatever i was thinking. as for kokomi and sara, i guess the only thing we can do is wait lol. and i think the only important thing about scaramouche in 1.1 was that he was introduced and he saw that the sky was false (late spoiler alert).

the chinese stream was hosted by wei and a couple of writers, i think, but they basically said the same things regarding the dialogue (scripts scripts).

i think baal's 'leak' is probably right before we fight her again. it certainly gives off the vibe, and i think there'll be more developments after we defeat her (maybe with help?).

and one of the writers mentioned that even though the archon quest would be resolved, plenty of other things wouldn't, so there's definitely more content coming soon hehe.

yae.... i think if we're really getting MCU (mihoyo cinematic universe), honkai and genshin are definitely connected more than we think. i mean, we're already getting crossovers, right? yae miko herself is suspected to be yae sakura's reincarnation (and the worlds seem connected anyway), so it's possible that yae's using either or both for her own purposes.

RULES

- We are not first come first serve. If we have multiple applications for one character, we will choose the most suitable one. We have the right to reject forms if you’re application is effortless and weak as well. That being said, it doesn’t take much to impress us, so don’t panic. These aren’t college application!

- Do not Godmod, Powerplay, Metagame Etc… OP muses are unfun, Mods will speak with you if people feel like you’re muse is Gmodding/Op/Powerplaying/Metagaming/Using abilities they don’t have.

- Mutual respect is key! Respect the Mods. Respect the rules. Respect your fellow mun. We have a three strike policy until ban.

- Absolutely no OOC drama between muns. Speak to a Mod if something comes up and we will help you solve it together, peacefully. IC drama is perfectly fine and encouraged! It adds to the fun.

- Consult Mods for Major Changes to Character (Applies to; changes background story, death, etc. Does not apply to losing limbs, injuries, running off somewhere.)

- You can not apply for unofficially released characters. That being said; you are free to begin working on applications for them, then submit them once the character’s first banner officially begins. This is due to lack of canon lore of the character to base off of. (Example; Yaoyao, Ayato) The only exceptions to this rule are NPC’s and characters already met in the story. Translated Genshin Impact Constellation: 1.6 to 2.1 (+ leaks)

continuation of this

these are increasingly less latin apparenlty so my expertise is quite frankly running out but it’s 3am and i’m DOING THIS. as with all translation, details can differ upon just like, whichever dictionary you prefer. these aint set in stone.

Released Characters:

Eula - Sea-foam Islands ( aphros delos ) (please mihoyo this is greek) (this does also play into her banner name referencing the birth of aphrodite though)

Kaedehara Kazuha - Acer Palmatum: Field decorated with palm twigs (additonally, acer is a genus of maple)

Kamisato Ayaka - Grus Nivis: Crane of the Snow

Yanfei - Bestia Iustitia: Justice Beast (not even a genitive for lil’ old me?)

Yoimiya - Carassius Auratus: Golden Carp

Unreleased Characters:

Aloy - Nora Fortis: Brave/strong whatever nora is. It is a) a real name and b) possibly derived from honor, honoris, m., meaning.. honor. among other possible deriviations. Brave Honor.

Kujou Sara - Flabellum: Folding Fan (still in use in it’s latin form, apparently.)

Raiden Shogun - Imperatrix Umbrosa: Shadowy Arbiter

Sangonomiya Kokomi - Dracaenae Somnolenta: Drowsy Dracaenae (dracaenae is a genus of asparagus trees. Also could not find latin on somnolenta. Translator says it’s rumenian. Fight me genshin writers i want CONSISTENCY)

Sayu - Nyctereutes Minor: Smaller Raccoon Dog (to be specific, raccoon dogs are the only variant of nyctereutes to still exist)
