*゚+ A/N: I don't talk enough about how relatable Vil is to me, when I was a kid I also used to take acting classes and perform. And I've been thinking about writing this for a while now and I decide to do this rn. Those are just some headcanons but maybe later I expand this and write a full fic based on this, idk, today is my birthday and I'm feeling very inspired!
*゚+ Things that happen on the theater club (based on things my professor, my colleagues and I did)
Tumblr media
.。*♡ People feel intimidated when when they think about participating in the drama club, precisely because there is a professional actor. But despite his strict nature and high standards for everyone, Vil is someone who is easy to work with, he is very observant and know the limits of each of his colleagues and know where he can help them improve, he knows how to offer tips and even demonstrates.
.。*♡ Scripts are good, but not always necessary. Vil likes naturalness so improvisational exercises are done regularly to encourage a relaxed body posture, creativity and quick thinking, it is still common for people to sometimes burst into laughter after saying or acting in a silly way. In times like these, you notice that Vil smiles softly.
.。*♡ The stories you perform vary greatly from classic tales to originals that each club member helps write.
.。*♡ Taking the newbies who entered the club to drink milkshakes and eat hamburgers.
.。*♡ Acting goes far beyond working to create the perfect film, acting is also about the memories and good times spent with your friends. Vil likes to propose game days to de-stress and relax, a relaxed mind generates a good performance. Musical chairs, pie in the face and games like that are often played before rehearsal.
.。*♡ Sometimes club members switch roles with their friends and act as their characters instead. This sometimes help when someone needs another perspective in how their character works.
.。*♡ You, Vil and the members working together to sew the costumes. Plus, he does your own makeup when the big day arrives, leaving a soft kiss on your cheek for good luck (my friend used to do this wksksksl 。◕‿◕。).
.。*♡ If you or any other classmate suddenly gets stage fright, Vil's right there to calm them down and encourage them.

ISAT Act 5 Missable Interactions
I missed a shitton my 1st playthrough bc I was on that Siffrin mindset during act 5's loop and I realized afterwards I had a save in the meadow b4 everything. So I decided to compile stuff I found I missed 4 others who might've missed things too! Please keep in mind that below will be spoilers for this act and the next, and that there are some concerning things about Siffrin found here that I've labeled this post with a few trigger warnings. Check them before reading to decide if you want to read!
Updated!!!!!!!
Please note the section on the favor tree has new info!! If you don't want to know how a secret boss fight goes please skip the 2nd to last dot.
• Literally every kid in town is terrified by Siffrin now, ignoring him or telling them to go away. You'll walk away from the shopkeeper if you try to talk to him, causing Odile to look at Siffrin with concern. He eats the pain du chocolat in one bite, concerning the pastry maker.
• Says stepping on the banana peel isn't in the stage instructions if u try to use it now.
• Everything that had a smell in earlier chapters now smells like sugar.
• If you interact with the cookies on floor one Siffrin will try to eat one. It's as hard as a rock.
• Interacting with the landscape drawings in the broken egg key room makes them hysterically ask if they'll ever see anything outside this loop ever again.
• A new group of drawings are also here of Siffrin with his face completely blotted out like the friendship drawing.
• The dictionary makes him scream that he isn't taciturn anymore, is he?!
• Interacting with the "grape juice for adults" makes them say they hate alcohol (jlmfr) b4 taking a swig.. only to discover its actually just juice. They remark hysterically they can't even get drunk in peace here!
• Mira's dying plant reminds them of someone, and they remark how there's four happy, never changing plants all together on the other desk before hysterically laughing. Rubs their arms when passing the desks to try to simulate the human contact they'd get in earlier loops from their family.
• Says they'll make all the wishes come true if you Interact with the Head Housemaiden's wish survey.
• Rips the info on the King, if interacted with again they attempt their breathing exercises to no avail then suddenly smell sugar again.
• Looking at the drawings in this office will make Siffrin start thinking about defacing them, but remarks he doesn't have a pencil as he hysterically thinks scribble, scribble, scribble.
• Mocks themself for thinking odile is there if u interact with the checked out book list in the library.
• Gets upset if Interacting with the diary area bc they still can't say the name of their home country. Calls himself a stupid blinding idiot.
• Gets upset at the theater scroll section, stating why read one when you're in one. Tells themself to stop going off script and go if interacted with again.
• Wonders if they'll ever carve again when Interacting with the carving wood. States they'd like to carve the King if so so they can snap him in half if interacted with again.
• Interacting with the cupboard with eyepatch makes them say they're cold, their stomach hurts, they can't stop shaking and a headache is forming from thinking about their mistakes. Then they take the painkillers, one over the recommended dosage for their size.
• Interacting with food shelves makes them ask why their stomach hurts so much and they're so hungry like they haven't eaten in years.
• The croissant cookbook makes them grip their coin.
• The anthology of horror stories makes them repeat the scene with their family, before they mock themself again for knowing it by heart since they have always wanted to never forget
• Breaks one of the statues on the change God shelf in the pottery room.
• Refuses to take the gizmo, stating a fair fight or none at all.
• The clothing closet where Isabeau talks about your cloak makes him repeat the scene though says he's had this cloak forever in shaking text. When Isabeau goes to check the cloak Siffrin says that he doesn't touch them because they're disgusting. They say they're so cold. This time they realize they're hallucinating the others being there when they are going to do the final reply.
• They tell themselves to stop monologuing if they try to go towards the bathrooms.
• You can see the House inhabitants if you leave the final room!! And go back to Dormont to see the party they were getting ready for. The others will join Siffrin out of corcern for his mental state instead of stopping him which is nice. There's a bunch of interactions here I won't note but they're delights.
• Loop is gone, but Siffrin will leave their silver coin where they sat in a custom from his homeland.
Edit: thanks to @cleverretortnotfound for the hint that this changes! Instead of nothing there u find a silver coin. If interacted with he'll remark its the exact same as his own and call out to Loop, then ask if they should call them by their previous name... and Loop reappears. Silently they let Siffrin look them over, and though they don't have any features that mirror Siffrin's own... he knows. Theyre the same person. He takes their own coin out, flipping it before sending it to Loop who catches it without thinking. They look at it for a moment, before saying, "Oh stardust... so, you've won, haven't you? You broke the loops? Defeated the King? Talked to your party? Realized that all along, the reason you were stuck here was because of a stupid blinding wish you made? Awww. I'm soooo happy for you. You got your perfect ending, after all. And now... I have nothing left to say to you. So you should go."
Siffrin doesn't reply, causing Loop to ask why they're there still. What does he want them to say? WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO SAY? HE'S WON!
Once again, Siffrin doesn't reply. Loop laughs, before saying "oh, Stardust! You know, you know I was just like you once! A stupid, aimless traveler, trying to find any reason to keep going! And then, I met everyone! And I felt that finally, I had people i could count on, people I could love! And then, I got scared! And made the exact same mistake you did! Make a stupid blinding wish, hoping I could stay with them! Went through the House, tried to fight the King, tried to win! Did that for so long, I couldn't even give you a number! And then... I couldn't do it anymore. ...You see, not unlike you a few hours ago, I did a very special kind of giving up. But unlike you, who gave up on your wish, and almost destroyed the world in the process... I gave up on my wish, and destroyed myself.
And made another wish instead. I wished it could be over. I wished I could get out of here. I wished for someone to help me. For someone... Anyone, to help me!!! And someone did help me, right? The Universe did! They got me out of here! And trapped me in some other Siffrin's loops instead!!! And it was fine. It was different. It was even peaceful, for a while. I didn't have to stay inside the House, trying to defeat the King. I didn't have to fight, I didn't have struggle, I didn't have to do anything.
(Note: during the last paragraph, during the I wished section up until the scream for anyone to help,, we see stills from the intro animation where Siffrin eats the star. Theres a new still though, a close up of Siffrin crying out before he ate it.)
I just had to watch, and be happy that at least, I wasn't the only idiot out there who trapped themselves eternally in time. I just had to be happy that at least, this time, it wasn't me. And now. And now. AND NOW YOU-!!!
So! Since you won't leave, here's what I'm thinking... let's fight, you and I! Let's have a cute, minuscule, old-fashioned little fight like a bonded couple. Okay~?"
Once again, Siffrin doesn't reply and Loop laughs, "nothing to say, still? Haha... HAHAHAHA!! STARS, killing you would make me SO HAPPY. (note: during this sentence temporarily Loop turns into Siffrin and looks rather... concerning) Are you ready?"
Siffrin tries to speak up, but Loop says they don't get a choice.
The battle commences, with Loop saying let's just get to it. Loop strikes with stars but isn't very strong, they loop back the 1st time you win, the 2nd, the 3rd, and on the fourth the photo changes (will add link to another post with pics later).
At the end of the battle Loop looks away before saying, "you... Siffrin, Stardust, whatever our real name actually is... just kill me."
Siffrin is shocked and asks why. "Why," they say, "Are you stupid? Isn't it obvious?! I wanted to kill you!! So I could take your place!! I wanted what you have!!! Stars, I still do! You... you don't.. you don't want another you walking around. You should just kill me and get on with your stupid life!!"
This makes Siffrin laugh and reply their self-hatred isn't strong enough that'd they'd kill another version of themselves. Loops laughs at that and says he's got weird priorities... then say but what if they're asking him? What if Loop wants this? What if dying is the ending they want?! Siffrin doesn't reply and Loop starts to beg, "Stardust, please, please just kill me!!! I don't want to be here! What else is there for me now?! You've won, so I should be gone!! I can't go back to how it was before, because that past is gone! I can't go back to my friends, because they wouldn't recognize me!! There's nothing else for me to do, no script to follow, no Universe to lead me, I-"
They can't continue, sobbing. "Why.. why did it have to be you...? I could've... I wanted to... if only back then, I... if I had held on longer... maybe then..."
Oh Loop, Siffrin thinks. But don't you get it, he says. Loop asks what is there to get. The reason he succeeded, he replies, but Loop still doesn't understand. They take Loop's face into their hands as they say Loop was the reason they succeeded! Without them, he would've given up too. Because they were by Siffrin's side they continued going. Yes they didn't tell him everything, yeah they didn't know what to do... but knowing they were here and he wasn't alone...
They tearfully reply he's lying, but he says he's not. They shout again Siffrin is lying, but they reply again they're not! They try to scream it again, but siffrin stops them by saying, "Loop. Mira sends her thanks, by the way. They all do." Confused Loop repeats the word thanks, adding "...to me...?"
Siffrin laughs, and reminds them they helped the others get to the King. That they sent their thanks for leading them to Siffrin. For helping them save him. Loop can't reply, and Siffrin says, "See?"
"Stardust... why couldn't it have been me...?" Loop asks, to which Siffrin replies they don't know. Maybe it was the script, maybe it was the Universe, or maybe... maybe it's no one's fault. Loop is silent once more and he replies, "I'm sorry, Siffrin."
Finally using Loops real name. Then adds, "And thank you, Loop. Without you, I would've given up a long time ago. Thank you for helping me, this whole time."
Loop doesn't respond and Siffrin goes, "Loop, we can-"
Loop cuts them off, "Siffrin." He flinches as they continue, "Please, you're going to have to talk to them, from now on. No more keeping how you feel from them. We both know where this leads. And if one day, no matter what you do, everyone's paths and yours diverge... you'll have to learn to be okay with it. We cant... we can't do this again. Hold them hostage, against their knowledge, against their will, just because we're lonely. Learning to talk to them... learning to let go... it'll be hard. It'll feel impossible. You might think you'd rather die than share how you feel. After all, isn't bottling things up the reason you managed to break the loops? You didn't have to tell them anything until the very end, and it turned out fine didn't it?"
Siffrin is silent, then attempts to say but, but if I talked to them earlier, then maybe - then gets cut off by loop, "Yeah, dummy. If only you had been strong enough to talk to them, maybe this whole story wouldn't have happened at all. If only... oh well. It doesn't matter now."
Loop starts to disappear. Siffrin asks where they'll go now? Loop sadly replies, "Oh, stardust... I don't know! I'll join you so we can become one? I'll Die? I'll stay under this tree forever? Does it matter?"
You can choose between it does and I guess it doesn't. I won't update this with the other, I'm sorry but this is taking a toll on me, so I'll atleast tell you what "It does!" Leads to.
They laugh, then say Siffrin's sweet. "Aww, don't worry, Stardust. Somehow... I'm sure I'll see you again. You... and everyone else. Mirabelle, Isabeau, Odile, and Bonnie. I need to accept their thanks in person, don't I? That's just basic etiquette. And I'll need to give you back your silver coin eventually!"
Siffein agrees, and Loop continues, "...hmm. I'll see you all again soon enough, Stardust. I promise! I super promise! I super duper promise! So don't forget me, okay?"
The screen fades, leading us back to the gang. They welcome Siffrin back and ask if everything's okay. He says he thanked Loop, to which they're relieved. Odile says she was hoping they'd bring em back so she could thank them in person, and the others agree though Isa says they looked shy so maybe they were too embarrassed. Which is too bad because he had so many questions, and so he hopes they see them again soon. Bonnie says they wanted to know how Loop glows and how it felt, to which Mira chides them saying you can't ask someone how they glow. Bonnie is flabbergasted, making the others laugh.
Odile adds she hopes Siffrin told them they can see the gang anytime. Sadly Siffrin smiles before saying he did, and how they too hope Loop says hi again soon. The others note Siffrin looks sad while saying this to which he replies he was thinking of Loop. The others tell them they'll have to tell the gang more about them then soon. Like how they met and why they're a star. Also how they knew about the loops. They then go back to the final room.
• The best artist ever has something new in the epilogue.
Souvenirs
Silver coin
B4: grips it in his pocket.
Epilogue: remarks that it's been with them through it all and feels like it could've been used for something. Backstory no longer unlockable, but can be used at the Favor tree.
Drawn card
B4 epilogue: says it's a traveler walking to their death with open eyes, rips it apart.
The end: looks at the card and just says "it's you!"
Epilogue: says it's a traveler starting a new journey, the card is labeled the fool.
Bright flower
B4 epilogue: tears off all the petals then discards it
The end: says it's still here.
Epilogue: you still have the flower, he says before deciding that it's theirs now!
Friendship doodle
B4: Siffrin's face is blotted out, no reaction to viewing this..
Epilogue: their face is no longer missing. Unknown whether this was a hallucination on their end or not.
Clay
B4: presses it between their hands to try and help them with their breathing exercises.
The end: squish, squish they say.
Epilogue: Clay they say, before making a star.
Piece of glass
B4: uses it to self harm by piercing it through a bit of the back of their arm multiple times. Says stars afterwards, can't tell if being sarcastic and calling the dots they made that or screaming the word like a curse as usual. (Updated: if used a second time Siffrin says they're making more tiny stars. Concerning)
The end: they say hide it, hide it don't make the others worried.
Epilogue: they become scared and startled, saying they need to be careful. Then they toss it before they can hurt themself.
Broken doll
B4: fixes the clothing on it, if u click on the cupboard it's from again tells it it'll see the end if it's the last thing it does.
The end: turns the doll so it can see everything.
Epilogue: they hold it close as they look at the sky, saying they both made it.
Crumpled poem
B4: genuinely could not read this the first seven times but using the capture reveals after reading it Siffrin repeatedly says they want to go home.
Epilogue: they read it, then say they'll never go home again, but maybe they can make a new one. They can't wait to see if they can.
Mirror picture
B4: no reaction. Says its of them and the actors despite no one being there.
Epilogue: they grip it tightly before tossing it, saying it's in the past now. That they're fine, they're fine! And if not they will be soon.
Long thingy-thing
B4: tosses it, saying it's not needed anymore.
Epilogue: they say it's their long thingy now.

...You Make Lemonade
A little snippet based on a comment made by @straight4joekeery in my "When Life Gives You Lemons..." post. "Women are like lemons, I love lemons!" I loved it so much, I had no choice but to write an entire fic about it!
~*~*~*~
Everyone knew that Eddie Munson was a weird kid. He had long hair, listened to music that was more screaming than singing, and never bent to fit any mold. So why would he conform to society’s boring sayings when he could make his own? Ever since he was a kid, he’s had a habit of constructing his own phrases and idioms.
Sometimes it would be something close enough to the original idiom that no one would call him out on it. The phrase, “I’ll burn that bridge when I get to it” has become a common one amongst the boys of Hellfire. He used to say “he’d kill for less” but that seemed a little too brash in light of what occurred over Spring Break what with his murder accusation and innocent teens dying.
Nevertheless, some of Eddie’s more outlandish sayings had worked their way into everyday speech for the Party. It wasn’t uncommon to hear one of the kids talking about the “devil kicking their kidneys” during physical exertion or mentioning how “neutral, and not even chaotically” people were when they bored them (a reference to Eddie’s least favorite moral alignment in D&D). However, the sayings always seemed stranger coming out of Lucas’ or even Dustin’s mouths than they did Eddie’s.
The point is, everyone that has ever met Eddie knows that he can say some pretty off-the-wall things. However, Steve had never been privy to the sayings with Eddie’s odd twists until a random weekday afternoon spent getting high in his trailer. It all started because the weather was getting warmer. Eddie was supplying the weed so Steve brought refreshments for the both of them to enjoy.
“Do you want some lemonade?” He asked him, his hands already passing him a bottle.
Eddie nodded. “Well, you know what I always say. Men are like lemonade and I like lemonade.”
Then he took the bottle and a long gulp.
Steve paused for a moment and just stared at Eddie. Was this a big coming out like it had been with Robin in the movie theater bathroom? What had Robin told him to say in this situation?
“Um, thank you for telling me. I’m honored that you trusted me enough to divulge that information about yourself and I accept you.”
Eddie turned to him with barely concealed panic in his eyes but that quickly turned to mirth upon hearing Steve’s reply. “That was the most rehearsed and scripted response I’ve ever heard. How’d you learn that, did you see it in a PSA?”
“No! Ro- my friend told me that’s what sh-they wished someone had said to he-them,” Steve stumbled. Holy shit, he almost outed Robin. That’s like the worst thing you can do to a friend!
Eddie looked at him fondly. “That’s adorable, Stevie. Also, I know about Robin.”
“What?! How do you know about Robin?”
“Birds of a feather, Steve. They flock together,” he commented wisely and took another drag of their shared joint.
“Oh, that makes sense. That’s probably why I’m friends with you guys. You know, because I’m bi.”
Immediately, Eddie’s eyes went wide and he took a sharp inhale which caused him to cough uncontrollably. Once his breathing started to return to normal, he choked, “bi?”
Steve nodded sagely, “yeah, bi. As in bisexual. That’s what you call it when you like both guys and girls.”
“I got that,” Eddie said, rolling his eyes dramatically. “Just you? You’re the straightest person I’ve ever met.”
“Hey, don’t insult me! Just because I still like girls doesn’t minimize my attraction to guys. I’m going to tell Robin that you-”
“No, no, no! I’m not judging you, I’m just surprised. But uh, thank you for telling me.” Eddie leaned over the space between them and gave Steve’s shoulder an awkward pat.
“Okay, what the hell was that?” Steve asked him in the bitchiest tone he could muster. “Give me a hug like a normal person.”
Eddie gave a long-suffering sigh but the grin on his face showed his jest. “If you wanted to get your hands on me, you should’ve just said so.”
When Wayne walked in on his nephew and Steve Harrington making out on his couch just a few hours later, he couldn’t even say he was surprised. Scarred forever and washing his eyes out with soap? Yes. But not surprised.

Infodump about the ideas for the highschool idol au
So. Character info.
Cross: His dad is the principal (but they aren't on such bad terms, they just don't get along the best), he lives on campus with Ink (this is kinda a private school situation, you live in the dorms, but the uniform isn't really enforced by anyone but the actual principal, and it's usually just a stern warning.) and he may have some gender dysphoria, because I enjoy jumping on the bandwagon of using Cross as a punching bag. He wears the uniform pretty consistently, with a gold locket under the tie. He does always insist on wearing red Chuck Taylors all the time, which is the only pop of color on him other than the red scar on his cheek he got from falling down a hill as a kid. He was forcibly added to the band as secondary vocals and drums
Killer: Chaotic, loud, and possessing some godforsaken mix between a Cockney and a Boston accent that sounds surprisingly good when used to sing, he's the epitome of everything Cross isn't. He enjoys ghibli movies, my melody, and cats, but also feels like a bolt of lightning. When he actually wears the uniform, it's usually with a signature studded leather jacket with pins in it. he never takes the jacket off. if he isn't wearing the school uniform, it's usually a shirt with Kel holding an orange joe or a cat hoodie under the jacket. His voice and outgoing nature got him the spot as the lead vocals and guitar.
Horror: He doesn't speak much, but when he does, it's slow, and full of thought. He likes to make food for people, and one of the first things he said to Dust was "Do you like pie." (much slower, but you get my point.) He never really wears the uniform, and everyone is fine with that, i don't think he's even met the principal. The best bear hugs in the school come from him. He plays bass.
Dust: He speaks snarkily to combat Killer, or to help Nightmare talk him out of a terrible plan to get that one guy finger drumming and mouthing the words to Fine to come and play. He wears the uniform sometimes, but always finds something to make it different, never removing his scarf.
Nightmare: He writes the lyrics to all the songs they sing, and drills everyone on the lyrics matching the beat exactly. EMO B- He always insists on visiting this one coffee shop, and always either wears casual wear or a full suit like
Tumblr media
And high heels. He's hot and he knows it.
Error: Works on audio editing, and seems to be getting gradually more interested in theater. if you think he wears anything but his pajamas, you're wrong. Bro learned how to code a free no download version of FL studio, but won't do his math homework.
Ink: Ultimate art and theater kid, does everything, always covered in paint. how does he manage this. Pretty good grades, and he can sing well, but he usually keeps his singing to himself and this one guy who used to go to school with him.
Dream: Writes scripts, and plays smaller character parts, very gay for blue. That's all I can really say without having a whole ass essay.
Blue: Builds the sets for plays, and finds ways to get the school budget large enough to get all the materials for the plays.
Ccino(I'm just gonna refer to him as coffee guy until nightmare actually learns his name): works at the only good campus food store/cafe, and makes, and I quote "The only black coffee that you can actually enjoy"-Noot noot joku, 2023(/24, Idk when he'll say that.)

Calgary fan expo 2024:
(Long post, apologies)
Survived! The last year I was at the artist alley at a fanexpo was I think…. 2019? and I can’t even remember the last year I was at the expo just as a regular attendee, and not as a vendor… must be at least ten years ago by now I think. I had a lot of thoughts yesterday.
But first of all I did want to say, like I said yesterday, Neil Newbon was I think the nicest actor that I’ve ever met at one of these, I really mean that.
The smaller-name actors are always more fun than the bigger names, partly because they tend to not have their heads stuck up their own asses like some of the bigger folks, but also just simply that their lineups are also much much smaller, so you have more time to actually chat with them. (Popular actors can be very much a “hi hello, my name is x, thank you! Bye! situation) All my best memories of getting autographs at cons have been with smaller actors and voice actors and stuff, hands down 100%.
And I’m serious, Neil was the nicest actor I’ve ever met at a con. He is so gracious and polite, humble, and honestly seems to genuinely love interacting with his fans. I had in my head my little lines I wanted to say, so I could make sure I said everything I wanted in the tiny amount of time they allow you to talk to the actor, and then he messed up my little script by wanting to have an actual little chat. We talked about my oldest daughter in Switzerland, and how expensive everything is there, and he said hello to my kids and talked to them a bit, and teased me a little. I said the thing I wanted to, which was to say congratulations for all the accolades and how important BG3 has been to the fans, and he said he appreciates that because the fans are why he does this stuff, truly. Honestly I think he would have chatted even more but I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by then and like that was my cue to leave. What a nice guy though? Dang.
His panel was great as well, British actors are always so interesting because they tend to take acting very academically and professionally, he had a great, smart answer for everything, and so polite even when there were some very nervous people having trouble articulating what they wanted to say. (He also said Larian was an amazing company to work for, and prioritizes their people and their fans over profit, which is so refreshing)
What a lovely dude. I was a fan before but I have to say I think now I’m a little in love.
(btw the one other actor I also really remember talking to and having a great chat with was Tony Todd, who was here like, a million years ago, also such a nice freaking guy, giant goddamned hands, we had a big chat about theater and community theater and stuff.)
Besides that, which was amazing, the whole thing was a bit bittersweet. I had a lot of feelings. I’ve been attending these expos almost since they first began, watching them get bigger and bigger and more exciting. A few years ago the expo chain was bought by an American company and.. the vibe has really changed since then. It’s not all negative, not at all: things feel really well organized now in terms of crowd control, which used to be um. Somewhat of a notorious issue for our expo, to put it mildly. But… the whole feeling of the show has also changed. Like one of my coworkers said, it feels kind of like just going to a big market. I miss the old announcer that used to come on, I miss the silly little extra events they had like the geek speed dating, I miss the Viking village that they used to have out in the front, just… the little things that made it feel less corporate and more like this exciting passionate convention for all the geeky things you like.
I went to the artist alley and was curious to see if I could find some of my old con buddies, people who I had got to know over the years I attended as an artist. I was kind of surprised that I couldn’t find a single one. In fact I only recognized a handful of booths as ones I had seen regularly in the past: it seems the majority are new. In addition, the artist alley seems to be about half the size it was when I was attending. I was hoping to see old friends to be able to ask them how things were going with the show recently with the new management, but I guess the fact that none of them were there kind of speaks for itself.
Again it’s a bit sad, but in a weird way it also makes me feel a bit better, somehow. I miss doing these shows, so much, and I feel so frustrated with myself that I don’t have the energy to keep up with it anymore. This really used to be the absolute hilight of my year, once upon a time. Somehow it’s a little comforting to know that I’m not the only one who couldn’t continue to do it.
It was nice to bring my younger kids, anyways. My oldest used to really enjoy attending the expos, and I’m happy I got to share that with them as well.
I’m proud of myself - due to my anxiety I was waffling quite a bit on whether or not I should even bother going, but I feel generally that I’m happy I got over that and ended up going.

no thoughts, head empty, steve being absolutely DOWN BAD for a theater kid reader who’s in the musical but since he can’t sing (methinks he can act but can’t sing) he bribes stage manager nancy (she’s stage manager material if she didn’t do journalism at hawkins high she’d be a stage manager) into making him an asm so he can hang out with reader and help them practice and all that shit
bonus points: reader is really into him and when they’re rehearsing singing a love song they always stare in steve’s direction for a bit like a simp and nancy teases both steve and reader about it—
(this is inspired by me listening to “i feel pretty” from west side story on repeat—)
<3
When he sees me
a/n: it's the way i wrote this like three times cause i couldn't decide on a musical😭😭i almost chose grease but it didn't sit right with me then i remembered waitress and was like this is PERFECT!! this is a modern au! the texts in the beginning are between nancy, steve, jonathan, and robin! i hope u enjoy this :D credit to the gif owner! <3
Tumblr media
can someone bring me a coffee?? rehearsals are DRAGGING!!
i wish i could babe :( will is helping me for my photography final💔
here's some coffee nance! ☕️
not funny 😐 didn't laugh 😐
steve chuckles at the group chat and sends a quick text to them.
i'll bring it. my class was cancelled today
steve to the rescue!!
grab her a muffin! she loves those <3
thanks steve! im in the auditorium in the very front just come in quietly🫡
Steve stuffs the phone into his back pocket and walks toward the cafeteria to get Nancy her muffin and coffee. While he waited in line he scrolled through his phone liking random pictures of people he didn't even really know. He looks up when he hears his name being called and smiles at the barista handing him Nancy’s snacks. He makes his way to the auditorium wondering if all the stress was worth it to Nancy.
He's quite the worrier when it comes to his friends and he can't even seem to remember the last time Nancy had an actual meal. He remembers going out to eat with everyone and Nancy was looking over the script while Jonathan had to remind her that her food was getting cold. He quietly walks into the auditorium and stares at the stage in awe.
“Holy shit Nance, this looks amazing!” he exclaims while handing her the muffin and coffee. She looks at Steve and smiles, waving her hand in the air.
“This isn't all me, Eddie made hellfire help build the set!”
At the mention of his name Eddie walks onto the stage with a stool in his arms and looks at Nancy.
“Where do you want the stool again?”
Nancy gulps her coffee and hands it to Steve while hopping onto the stage. She shows Eddie where the tape is for the stool and Steve just stares at the cup in shock from how light it is.
“Nancy, when was the last time you ate?” He asked her.
“I had crackers today.”
Steve was ready to give Nancy a lecture that she's all too familiar with when he was suddenly interrupted.
“Nance, have you seen my nametag? Ash said she gave it to props even though it's part of costumes.”
Steve feels his heart jump out of his chest as he sees you standing on the stage. Steve has biology with you, you're actually his lab partner. Usually, Steve isn't one to talk to his classmates unless he needs to but he couldn't help but talk to you. It came so naturally for him, you laughed at his jokes, and god you were so fucking pretty. Steve is so infatuated with you that he doesn't even realize Nancy called him several times until she throws a pen at him.
“Steve! Come up here and help me real quick.”
Steve nods his head and jumps onto the stage standing next to Nancy with his hands on his hips.
“Steve Harrington at your service,” he says, which causes you to giggle.
“Hi, Stevie.” you say with a smile.
“Hey pretty girl, I like your outfit,” he says gesturing to your waitress costume. “Feel like you'd bring me the best burger in town.”
You blush and try your best to ignore his silly compliment while Nancy looks at your costume. She hands Steve the clipboard she's holding and stuffs her hands in every pocket she has.
“Crap, I thought I had the name tag but I don't. You asked props already?”
You nodded your head.
“Steve, go into the classroom and check in the professor’s drawer, there should be some spare name tags in there.”
“....where's the classroom?”
Silence falls over the three of you and Nancy sighs.
“Y/n, can you-”
“Already on it.” you chuckled out. You pass by Steve and place your hand on his arm giving it a gentle squeeze. “Bye Stevie.”
He sighs out a soft bye and turns his attention back to Nancy.
“Put me in the play.”
“What?!”
“Please! I promise you I'm a great actor!”
Nancy chuckles. “This is a musical, Steve, it's not just acting. There's singing and dancing.”
Steve let out a scoff. “I can sing and dance!”
“Steve, the only time you've sung is when we had karaoke night and you're one of the most uncoordinated people I know!”
Steve shakes his head. “Not true, you know Robin.”
Nancy nods her head knowing her friend is much clumsier than Steve. Steve silently thanks god for making him so stubborn because now, he's following Nancy around the stage while begging her to let him in the show.
“Steve!” Nancy shouts.
“Yes, I'll be in the play. See? Was that so hard-”
Nancy grabs him by the collar of his shirt and brings him close.
“Do you know why I chose y/n to play Dawn?”
“Cause she's pretty.”
Nancy rolled her eyes but smiled. “No, although yes she is pretty.” She let go of Steve’s collar and massaged her temples.
“Y/n is playing Dawn cause she's perfect for it. I've casted everyone very carefully so that the natural chemistry is there and no one has to force feelings or anything!”
Steve nods his head and lets out a hum. “So, what I’m hearing is you'll cast me.”
“MARCUS!” Nancy shouted.
A boy runs out onto the stage and sends Nancy a smile. Steve looks at who he assumes is Marcus up and down and cringes internally at his outfit. He's wearing a plaid shirt tucked into some black pants, and his hair isn't styled.
"That his costume?" Steve whispers to Nancy.
“I swear i don't dress like this," Marcus said to Steve. "What's up?” he asks Nancy.
“This is Steve,”
Steve waves at him and smiles at him.
“Show Steve what you have to do while singing.”
Marcus let out a chuckle and straightened his posture. “You want me to sing too?”
“Go for it.” she smiled.
Steve watches in awe when Marcus puts his arms flat on his sides and starts doing an Irish jig while singing perfectly. It lasts maybe a couple of seconds at most but it's enough for Steve to realize he may be in over his head.
“Thank you, Marcus, that's all I needed,” Nancy said with a smile and patted his back.
“If you think that's good just wait until opening night! It's gonna blow everyone away!” With that, Marcus finds his way back to the dressing room and Nancy turns to Steve with a smirk.
“Still think you're cut out for this?”
Steve let out a scoff. “If you didn't want me in the play you could've just said that.”
Nancy was ready to say something when half of the cast rushed out of the dressing room all talking over each other.
“Nancy! Rosa fucked up one of the waitress’ dresses!”
“I did not!“
“Oh really? Then how did pink pen ink get on there?!”
“Ask Charlie! He has a pink pen!”
“EVERYONE KNOWS I ONLY USE BLUE ROSA BE REAL!”
Nancy is used to feeling overwhelmed, it comes with being a stage manager. She's not sure if it's because she hasn't had a proper meal in a while, or maybe it's because Fred ditched being her assistant stage manager and decided to do journaling instead. Ugh, journaling.
“EVERYONE SHUT UP!” she shouts. Silence falls over the auditorium and Nancy has a bright idea.
“You still wanna be in the play?” she asks Steve. Steve slowly nods his head, but only because he's too scared to say no to her right now. Nancy sighs and turns to the cast.
“I need everyone seated in the audience in two minutes.”
Steve watched everyone scatter in different directions, some ran off the stage and sat in a chair while others went to get the rest of the cast. Once Nancy saw everyone in the audience she clapped her hands.
“Okay! As you know Fred has left and I've practically been doing manager things all by myself. It's been a struggle, but I still love what I do.”
“Nance, did you want me to sit in the audience too? Cause there's an empty seat next to y/n-”
“Thankfully! Steve, being the best friend he is, has decided to be my assistant stage manager! If you have any questions about costumes, props, or anything else go to him! I'll be showing him the ropes so don't worry. Any questions?”
Eddie’s hand shot up into the air. “He's gonna help move the set around right? Cause I have some guys going out of town so set design and things like that may run behind.”
Steve opened his mouth to answer his question but Nancy beat him to it.
“Yeah, he's definitely helping out, just make sure I see the designs before it's made final. Anyone else?”
Steve hears people mutter no and sees people shaking their heads.
“Awesome! Everyone go back to what you were doing and try not to come to me or Steve unless you absolutely need us! I'm gonna be in the class giving him a crash course.”
The cast started getting back to what they were doing while Steve was lost and confused.
“Nancy! Have you forgotten that I know nothing about theatre?! This is your area and a little bit of Will’s but that's not the point!
You hopped on stage with a smile and waved at Steve.
“Welcome to showbiz baby!”
Steve’s heart soars and he gives you a lovesick smile as he watches you walk into the dressing room.
“Tell me everything I need to know.”
-
“Stevie! Can you see if Will can help Mary fix my costume? It's a little loose on the sides.”
Steve let out a sigh and ran a hand through his hair. “Nessa, I told you already you can't call me Stevie. I don't like that nickname.”
Nessa smirked. “But y/n calls you that.”
Steve felt himself begin to blush as Nessa started to tease him. Almost everyone knew about Steve’s crush on you, except you. You were too focused on the show knowing you had a number and everything was enough to send you spiraling into your thoughts.
“That's different, she's special.”
“Who's special?” you asked, stepping on stage in full costume.
“MY MOM!” Steve shouted.
“THE QUEEN!” Nessa followed.
You raise your brows at them and chuckle. “Okay…weirdos.”
Steve chuckled and turned back to Nessa.
“Yeah, I’ll see if I can sneak Will away to fix the costume.”
Nessa thanked him and skipped off to the dressing room to finish getting ready. Steve looks up from his phone and sees you nervously pacing the stage.
“Hey, you okay?”
You nodded your head. “It's weird, I've sung the songs so many times it's like…engraved in my brain.”
“But?”
You chuckle nervously and rub the plan of your hands along the apron that's folded across your waist.
“But what if I mess up? Opening night is tomorrow and I'm so scared that I'm gonna screw something up.”
Steve brings you in for a hug and sways you back and forth.
“You're freaking out over nothing! I've seen you rehearse this a million times, it's like you were born to be on stage.”
You stop swaying and look up at him with a smile. Steve isn't sure if it's the reflection of stage lights on your glasses or maybe you really do have stars in your eyes, either way, he could stare into them all day long.
“You think so?”
“Definitely, don't forget me once you're on Broadway with the big names.”
“Please, I could never forget you, Steve Harrington.”
Steve looks down at you and he wants to kiss you. He wants to kiss you so bad, but he knows he can't. Nancy made it clear that she doesn't want anyone to start a relationship in the middle of the show to avoid conflicts and drama, she called it show-mance.
“Do you maybe…want to hang out after all this?” Steve asked nervously.
“We can't…it’s forbidden.” You teased.
He let out a laugh and shook his head. “No, I mean after the show.” Steve took a deep breath and decided to pull the trigger on this.
“I've liked you for a while. Ever since you laughed at my jokes in biology actually, I wanted to ask you out but I got pulled into this and Nancy told me about the showmance rule she had,” Steve shrugs his shoulders, not really knowing where he was going with this. He knows he's just rambling now but he appreciates that you're listening still.
“I don't wanna be a showmance for you. I want to be more than that. An actual romance.”
You opened your mouth ready to say yes a million times when you heard the opening number blast through the speakers. You and Steve jump back from each other and you're quick to look up at the booths.
“ARE YOU SERIOUS JACK?!”
“I'M SORRY I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS SO LOUD!”
Nancy steps onto the stage and claps her hands. “Okay, people places! This is our last run-through of the show before opening night so let's make it count!”
Everyone scattered to their spots, including you. Steve felt his shoulders slump when he couldn't find you on stage anymore. He began making his way down the stage when you pulled him backstage and kissed his cheek. You looked around and made sure no one saw before you smiled.
“I'd love to go out with you. In an actual romantic way that is.”
“Yeah?” He asks with a wide smile.
“Yeah.”
Steve nods his head, mumbling the word cool under his breath. He clears his throat and places a kiss on your forehead.
“Break a leg superstar,” he whispers before jumping off the stage and sprinting to his seat next to Nancy. She doesn't look up from her script but he can practically hear her smile.
“You're welcome.”
Steve can't wipe off the smile that's on his face when he hears your voice mixed in with the other girls that are on stage. Steve knows he's not the smartest and he's not always right when it comes to certain things, but if he was right about one thing it was you. You were made to be on this stage, you were made to perform your heart out and touch the heart of others, and who knows? Maybe you were even made for Steve. Nah, he thinks to himself. You were definitely made for him.

♡ SIMILAR GROUP - Akito Shinonome, Toya Aoyagi, Tsukasa Tenma and Rui Kamishiro x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Akito:
You KNOW that Akito's competitiveness would get the best of him-
When you tell him that you're in a street group that dances in another street, his first thought is, "I need to challenge them to a singing battle immediately."
He doesn't say that at first, simply saying that it's cool before asking how you practice
He's not trying to figure out your techniques. Totally not.
He asks about the battle a couple of weeks later. Whether you agree to it or not, he will respect your choice. Just know the battle would be fun as hell-
He visits your group, sometimes with VBS, whenever they don't have practices. He's always in awe of you <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Toya:
Toya definitely thinks it's a cool coincidence!
When you tell him that you're also in a street group, he'll smile at you, "Ah, that's cool. I don't know many people who are-"
He asks to see how you practice, and will watch with awe. He had always been impressed by other groups' styles, yours is no different!
If you ask him to, he'll learn some of your songs so that he can help you practice. You do the same for him!
The two of you definitely take the other out to your street so that you can give tours
He'll visit to watch your performances whenever he can, oftentimes bringing VBS with him as well. He loves watching you perform <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tsukasa:
Tsukasa is absolutely STOKED
When you tell him you're in a theater troupe, his eyes will sparkle, "Oho, really?? This future star has to see your performances!!"
He's so excited, he acts like a little kid as you talk about what you do with your theater troupe
The two of you practice for your shows together! He'll read your scripts and act out very dramatically, but it's super fun!
He also helps you with your costumes! He might add in a star here or there, but he thinks they're nice touches!
He brings WxS to watch your performances, and is the loudest member in the audience. His lovely co-star is becoming a true star indeed! <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rui:
Rui is incredibly intrigued by the coincidence
When you tell him you're in a theater troupe, he'll grin at you, "Oh, is that so? Perhaps I should take a look at the competition then!"
He doesn't really think of your group as competition, groups like yours can certainly differ after all
He asks to see your part of the show, and will occasionally throw suggestions your way. Most of them involve you launching in the air or drones flying in-
He also asks if he can go behind the scenes, not wanting to do anything except observe
He brings WxS to see your performances, and will grin with pride the entire time. You certainly knew how to steal the show <3

School plays are the pinnacle of an average high school semester. Even if one isn't inclined at this field of study, there is always a hint of curiosity and wonder behind it. Whether it would be the genre of the play, the lead characters or just the setting, it would bring a lot to their seats and for the performers, to the stage.
Camilo Madrigal is one of them.
Everyone knows him as the theatre kid. Always praised in class, always punctual every practice, always giving his best for the audience. Camilo has been passionate about theatre arts, something about expressing yourself through different personas makes him feel adventurous, as if he's living the world through different perspectives of people. He was a natural-born performer, an ace. However, there was a problem. In his 2 years of enrollment in the school, never has he been the lead actor.
Not until now.
When Camilo found out he was casted as the lead star in the school's annual play, he was over the moon. The genuine smile of excitement never left his face as he received his copy of the script. He vowed to never let the entire batch down as he tries to show more of his talent and skills. And he proved that since Day 1,
by attending the practice an hour early.
The school wasn't even filled yet but Camilo was already on his way to the auditorium. He opened the heavy door and walked to the stage, grabbed his script and then threw his backpack to the side.
Since he was alone, he decided to mark out his positions labelled on his script. He mumbled his lines and practiced his gestures thoroughly. He felt free for he thought he was by himself until he was proven wrong. While the script said to exit, he lightly and gracefully walked to the marked exit drawn on the stage. He was ready for Act 2, but something caught his eye.
The mobile shelf filled with paint rolling through backstage.
Huh? Camilo thought to himself, he thought he was alone. He slowly moved back downstage, swatting the heavy curtains until he landed on a sight he didn't expect.
A beautifully marked tall backdrop being painted by you. Who was sprawled on the floor.
"Y/N?" Camilo asked, catching your attention. You snapped out from your trance as you lifted your hand holding the brush away from the canvas to glance at him.
"Hey" You greeted back with a small smile. "What brings you here so early?"
"Nothing" Camilo placed a hand in his pockets as he shrugged, "Just getting extra prepared"
"Oh right, you're the lead! Congrats on landing the role, by the way"
"Thanks" Camilo shyly smiled. You proceeded to finish your drawing while still proceeding to talk to him.
"How about you? Is there a reason why you're here painting so early alone?"
You shrugged your shoulders. "I guess. It's more peaceful and I don't like being bothered by too many people always passing by and talking"
"Oh. You're really talented. This is amazing!"
"Thank you, Camilo. You're not so bad yourself"
"What do you mean?"
"I've been hearing you practice since you came here, you're killing it"
Camilo gasped out loud, a hand covering his mouth as he did so. Suddenly he got so shy he looked down. Never did he expect that you were there the entire time. He was so into it and to think that someone appreciated his rehearsals made him giddy.
As if time flew fast, so did your conversations with Camilo. You got to know each other better, even better from the moment you first interacted. Though you were schoolmates, Camilo didn't know you that well, not until now. He learned so much about you. You've been the visual artist for so many plays, painting and designing costumes here and there.
But as much as you love art, you could never do origami, the art of paper folding. As soon as Camilo found out, he wondered why. You were close with his cousin Mirabel who was known to be crafty on the origamis and he silently questioned why you didn't know how. The more you talked about yourself, the more Camilo grew interested about you.
You continued to work whilst talking to Camilo. You painted the green hills and mountains, adding details of small flowers and leaves as you portray a secret garden setting. Camilo was by your peripheral vision, leaning on one of the tables as he observes. He admired your work, obviously proven by his dazed stare while his chin sat atop his palm leaning on his elbow. A comfortable pause comes up every now and then while Camilo thinks of another topic to talk about.
Unfortunately one of the silences was badly interrupted by a sharp noise as Camilo accidentally moves the shelves after leaning on it too much. It made him stumble with a yelp and sent the shelf moving towards your canvas. The paint cans stumble and tumble down, making a big splat at the canvas you were working on.
Camilo was stunned, guilty, upset. A hand was on his mouth for he was unable to speak a single word to you.
"I-" He stuttered. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!" Camilo frantically apologized. He tried to come closer and attempted to wipe away the paint but alas, he wasn't a visual artist. His attempt in wiping it only made it worse as the paint smeared all over the canvas.
"No stop, It's okay!" You exclaimed and reassured him. Camilo only looked at yourwith a face full of guilt. It made you laugh when he stepped back, hands tight in front of him.
You slowly stood up from the floor and dusted your top. Like a boss you walked towards the part where he smeared the green paint and sat down at the floor. Camilo glanced at you with disbelief when he realized you were starting to paint over the scattered mess of paint. You grabbed pink and yellow paint, letting your brush dance against the medium.
"These would look like tulips, actually" You simply said.
Camilo still had his jaw-dropped. The simple fact that you were unbothered by his accident took him aback. He expected you to yell, scream or even shove him away but much to his dismay, you did the exact opposite. You painted over and made a beautiful bush of tulips from his poured paint and casually talked to him as if nothing happened. Needless to say, his admiration for you grew even bigger.
After a few hours the stage was full, rehearsals officially started and people were all over the place. Camilo was out for lunch time and you were waiting for your paint to dry. You stared at the improvised tulips from Camilo's mishap as you smiled thinking about his adorable guilt face. You glanced at the table and saw a spare script lying around in the corner. You, being bored, picked it up and wandered around the pages. It was annotated, highlighted, and clearly studied well. You flipped it back to the front page only to see his name.
'Camilo Madrigal'
An idea suddenly popped in your head, you grabbed your pencil case from your bag and started doodling all over the cover page. Anything you could think of. Tulips, crowns, swans, hearts, you decorated the bottom of the page in colorful ink. You smirked to yourself, if he can draw on my canvas it's only equal I draw on his.
A satisfied grin left your lips. What stopped you was the teacher's announcements that it was your turn for lunch break. You placed the script back from where it was and flipped it over to the back as you grabbed your stuff to leave.
Just as Camilo came back from the cafeteria, he picked up his own stuff to head to class. He saw his script on the table and picked it up in a flash, not even noticing what you have done.
It was only when he arrived home after dinner. When Camilo fished out his script from the bag, his eyes widened in confusion. The cover page of his script was filled with doodles! At first it irked him, thinking that he was being pranked but as soon as he realized the all too familiar tulips by the corner, his heart pounded.
And yet again needless to say, the thought of you never left his mind as he rehearsed the entire night. While he practiced, Camilo remembered about how you never knew about origami and how it works. He then remembered that Mirabel, your classmate and his cousin, was the expert at that matter. So in an attempt to find something to get closer to you, he tried to learn it as well. After dinner, he snuck onto Mirabel's room to steal her large guide book all about origamis to learn the basics.
The next day, Camilo was extra happy and giddy. He was early to another day of practice yet again to rehearse his lines (he's lying to himself, he just wants to see you again). Since that paint accident, he tries making it up to you by helping in other parts of your work such as bringing you new paint, washing your brushes, or even tracing the drafts to make your job easier.
Soon enough, your backdrop is finished and is already placed onstage for dress rehearsals. Camilo yet again often finds himself distracted during his lines when he glances at you and his messy work. It brings a smile to his face, a power-up to motivate him to impress you better with his acting skills.
After class, Mirabel invites you to her home as she crams the rest of the costume design for the play. Being her friend of course you agreed without hesitation. Designing and planning outfits was one of your favorite tasks and this time you went home with Mirabel to finish it.
Their house was, huge. Your jaw dropped as you went into their property. It was colorful, neat, simplistic and full of life. Mirabel's room was an even better experience. With a girl who is handy with arts and crafts, her safe space was never dull. You already loved to see her paintings and drawings all over the place. Since Mirabel was the lead costume director, she needed your help on the final designs before it hits the fabric.
"Is navy blue fit for the lead's suit or should I pick another shade?" Mirabel held up a square fabric sample for the costume design. You squinted your eyes at the color, thinking if it was suitable. You clicked your tongue and shook your head.
"The main backdrop is sky blue so it almost blends in. Why not try for a cooler hue? Maybe purple" You eyed her sketches, watching her streak a purple tint near the sketch for comparison. Deep in thought Mirabel hummed and you took the silence as a chance to glance at her other designs. Your concentration was interrupted by hearing random groans and yells from outside the hallway of the house.
"What's that?"
"Oh, that's just Camilo practicing." The moment his name came out from Mirabel's mouth made your heart pound. All of a sudden you forgot that he was living in the same house too.
"He sounds distressed.." You muttered upon your breath. Mirabel looked unfazed however, as if she's used to this behavior.
"He's fine. Does it all the time"
When Mirabel reassured you that he was doing fine, there was still a hint of curiosity blending in with worry at the thought of him. Camilo sounded like he was rambling, muttering unintelligible sounds along with frustrated groans. The muffled sounds faintly echoing through the walls made it impossible to shut the sound out.
When Mirabel left her room to grab snacks for the both of you, you took it as a time to maybe check up on Camilo out of curiosity. Slowly you tiptoed out Mirabel's room and followed the sounds of fiddling objects and mumbling. Across the hall was a half-opened door leading to what you assumed was  Camilo's room. You stood near the side of the doorframe and his muttering gets more clearer now.
"Why won't the wing flap"
"Will she like this?"
"It doesn't work!"
You silently hummed. What he rambled about was definitely not part of the play. The amount of curiosity in you increases and you cave in. You peeked into his room and accidentally grazed the door with pressure a little too heavy as it opens with a creak.
You stood frozen when you saw each other.
Camilo was sprawled on the floor with a bunch of crumpled paper around him. Colorful pieces of paper caught your eye as it was scattered all over the place. Only some of them weren't crumpled badly, you realized that it were folded origami pieces.
"Camilo? Are you okay?" You found the courage to ask, still standing behind the door afraid to get in. Camilo stared at you in a face you couldn't decipher.
"I'm fine, sorry for the mess" He trailed off and looked away, fiddling with the pieces of paper while his other hand brought itself to the back of his neck, scratching it out of nervousness. "You can come in if you want"
With his permission you slowly walked in and sat on the floor across him, noticing the large book beside him. Camilo refused to meet your eyes and proceeds to finish what he was doing. He glanced at the guide and followed through the steps. You observed the rest of his work. It wasn't at perfect quality but who were you to judge? The familiarity and shape of the paper figures came into you.
Your doodles. Camilo made origami figures off from your doodles in his script. A paper swan, paper tulip, paper crowns, and a few paper stars. It made your heart flutter.
"I thought you were practicing for your script." You tried to initiate a conversation with him. He still refused to look at you, though.
"I finished, I just wanted to try making origami"
"They're beautiful" You said as you lifted a paper swan, gently pulling the tail to see its wings move back and forth.
"They're too much" Camilo shyly muttered.
"I tell you, it's not. What are you making right now?"
"Tulips"
You froze. Was it a coincidence? That he was making 3d paper figures off from the objects you drew on the canvas and the script? You soon shook your head, thinking that you were overthinking it.
Eventually you hummed as a response and scooted closer to him to look at the guidebook and it made Camilo surprised at the sudden proximity. His eyes never left the book as a way to divert his attention to anything else but you.
You grabbed a new yellow paper from the side and started to follow through the guide on how to make paper tulips. It was easy at first, but at one point you didn't notice you were stuck and ended up ruining it. Now you understood why Camilo was muttering curses when you were now doing the same. Your fingers fiddled with your origami piece trying to unfold and undo the steps to see where you left off.
While you were distracted, Camilo took the time to finally lift his head up to admire you. A smile slowly curls in his lips when he sees you pouting unconsciously. It was so unlike you now that he noticed. At school you were known to be cool and intimidating but now, it's like your personality made a 180 degree turn. Here, you looked soft and almost bubbly if you weren't too frustrated with your paper folding. Camilo audibly giggles and it causes you to look up at him with your bottom lip puckered out and your eyebrows furrowed.
When you looked up to Camilo and saw him staring intensely at you, your heart pounded even louder than you wanted it to. You only prayed he couldn't hear it from here. It only took a short time gazing into Camilo's warm eyes before you looked away flustered. Now it was your turn to pretend to fiddle with the paper to get your thoughts away from the charming boy looking at you with admiration.
If that wasn't enough to get you fazed, you saw Camilo suddenly chuckle as he reaches out for a yellow crown that he made with his own hands. You stared at him in confusion but all your walls came crumbling down the moment he set it above your head with a soft smile in his face.
"Practice makes perfect, cariño" Camilo whispered. After he placed the crown in your hand his fingers travel around the frame of your face. His thumb lightly brushes against your cheek, instantly making you lose all your control.
You closed your eyes shut as you flinched and squealed, hiding your face in the sleeves of your hoodie while you nervously laughed. Muffled fits of your giggles against the fabric of your clothing made Camilo's heart pace with utter fluff and admiration at the sight of you getting giddy over his sudden bold move.
And as if time has stopped, the two of you spent the rest of the afternoon practicing how to make origami art. Too into the moment you didn't even realize that Mirabel has been silently squealing behind the door after seeing you so giddy with her cousin. She closed the door to give you two privacy and left to continue her work.
Who knew that afternoon rehearsals could end up like this? From spilled paint to paper figurines, two of you were the happiest. As much as you enjoyed your new found hobby for paper folding, your heart swelled more at the thought of it bringing more happiness as yours and Camilo's (love u)nfolds.

Irresponsible
OWKAYYYY SEWWWW
red hood and y/n meet when he was out on patrol,,,, duh.
y/n is genderfluid cause one day they bought the miku binder as a joke and then found out,,, crazy ehl oh ehl (ion think this is relevant but it HAS to be added i swear)
current gender: harbinger of destruction (donr think this is relevant either. but still.)
their friendship starts either with:
jason hearing y/n humming to my attitude by the bratz and jokingly asks them about their opinions on the bratz cinematic universe then they end up literally word vomiting a script to a video essay
or with y/n hearing him humming nocturne no.2 and say "i can play that on piano" and he's like "put it ong 🤨" and then the both of them break into a instrument shop just to play fucking chopin and then when they leave he remembers hes supposed to apprehend them and is like. FUCK !!!!!!
ALSO Y/N ENDS UP KRISSING THE ENTIRETY OF GOTHAM LETS GOOO (by accident or on purpose,, have not decided.) (also havent decided if this is relevant either)
somehow jason finds out y/n is a theater kid and use it against them
until y/n found out jason has a copy of death of a salesman or i am a camera. idk how they find out,,,  but its over for jason
sometimes damian runs into y/n on his patrols and he asks jason how to shut them up because the entire time they fought they were explaining the plot of into the woods
at some point in time, y/n ends up getting a nasty scar (yeowch) and y/ns all jokey about it until jason kinda yells at them for being so irresponsible (i spend 10 minutes trying to remember that word.)
for the most part, theyre usually avoiding each other except they always find themselves following each other cause they want to make sure the other isnt dead they both know what they're doing but they donr know how to express their feelings :[[[[
inevitably they cross paths and its awkward at first and then y/ns like "yo you want me to explain the plot of cats??" cause y/n often ask randomly  but like this time they actually explain the plot
awkwardness is immediately thrown out a window cause there is NO WAY jason is keeping a straight face after y/n says its just american idol but for cats who want to fuckin die
sometimes he asks questions and then they talk EVEN MORE its just an endless cycle
"ok but what do you do when they interact with you 🤨"
"audibly moan."
"so he appears out of nowhere, pulls a rainbow flag out of a cup and then leaves?"
"he does more than that but,,, yeah."
watch cats 1998 !!!! (staring right at you)
thinking of actually going through w this n making a oneshot zoo wee mama

'With Christopher Nolan’s latest, Oppenheimer, now in theaters and IMAX, Collider’s Steve Weintraub spoke to the film’s composer, Ludwig Göransson (Black Panther), about reuniting with the auteur director for one of this year’s biggest features. Having also previously worked together on Tenet, Göransson tells Weintraub it was “extremely exciting” to get the call for Oppenheimer, not only for the opportunity but because “...the way that he works with music in his movies is incredibly unique. It's almost like it's its own characters in his films.”
Oppenheimer is the white-knuckle biopic about physicist Robert. J. Oppenheimer, played by Cillian Murphy in his first-ever leading role with longtime collaborator Nolan. To tell the harrowing account of the man behind the world’s first nuclear weapon, the movie also boasts the talent of Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, and Florence Pugh.
During their interview, Göransson talks about the process of working with Nolan, from receiving that first call to reading the script and visualizing the music. He tells Weintraub what about the score he learned from the very first read, why violins play such a vital part in the music of Oppenheimer, how the “spellbinding” visuals of the movie played into the music, and why this job was so daunting at first. Göransson also discusses recording the music in under 10 days, what piece proved to be most challenging, and how AI may affect his work in the industry...
COLLIDER: Let me start with congratulations. Oppenheimer is kind of good. [Laughs] Have you seen it in IMAX 70 millimeter?
LUDWIG GÖRANSSON: I saw it in London at the BFI [IMAX], and it was incredible. It was like the first time I saw it on IMAX, and the sound system there was incredible. It was a great experience. I brought my parents with me.
What is it actually like for you, after spending so much time working on the music and just diving deep into a project like this, sitting in a movie theater, especially an IMAX 70-millimeter presentation, and taking it in? When you listen to the music, do you ever hear things where you're like, “Man, I should have tweaked that. It would have been better like this,” or can you just let go and say, “This is great, it works. I'm so happy?”
GÖRANSSON: No, I definitely let go of that. I let go of that until the last day of the dub, and we're done. We do everything we can up to that moment. And, you know, I have these great collaborators, and with Chris, we're on the same page. We feel the same about the music, and we're finished when we're done. So, it's incredibly rewarding for me to sit there in the theater and just enjoy. That's why I love working on these movies…because it's always rewarding. You put so much of yourself into this; you put so much of your time and your feelings, and so you want to feel like you get something back, and that's one of the times when you feel like you're getting something back, so I love it.
I have a ton of random questions for you today, so I'm just gonna jump on it. What do you think would surprise people to learn about being a composer in Hollywood?
GÖRANSSON: Well, I think when I was a kid, before jumping into this job, I thought it was gonna be...I had a very romantic image of it, you know. So you're sitting in your cabin, and you're writing all this music for yourself, and then it's done, and you send it somewhere, and then they put it into the movie. And that image is not really how it works out in reality.
Then fortunately for me, I have been able to find these incredible collaborators, so it's a very respectful job. We're doing it together, and we push each other. We're pushing the music forward, we're pushing the boundaries of the music forward. But, you know, the only thing that's working against us is time. And a lot of people think that music and time is not, you know… They don't understand the relationship, that there [are] deadlines, you know.
Yeah, I just spoke to (composer) Daniel [Pemberton] about his work on Ferrari, and he told me he wrote the score in like five days or something crazy because it had to get done. I'm like, “I don't understand that.”
GÖRANSSON: No, no, I don't know if I could do that. That seems terrifying.
No, I couldn't do it. But that's a whole different thing. You worked with Nolan for the first time on Tenant, what was it like when he called you for not only Tenant but for this and said, “Hey, I have a project, maybe you want to do the music?” What are those calls like?
GÖRANSSON: Well for Tenant, it was incredibly surprising because I never thought that I would get the call like that. But it was also extremely exciting because, I mean, I love everything he's done with both Hans Zimmer and David Julyan. I was a big fan of those movies and the music, so getting the chance to work with Chris… I think the way that he works with music in his movies is incredibly unique. It's almost like it's its own characters in his films, and to be able to get insight [into] his mind and see how that works.
So on Tenet, it was a great experience, and then after Tenet, we kept in contact. We were watching movies, we were talking about film, we were talking about music. But he is also kind of very– He's also a little secretive. So, he doesn't talk about, like, “Hey, I'm working on this now,” and so the phone call is about reading scripts, and it always comes out of the blue. So he was like, “Hey, you wanna read the script tomorrow for my new film?” And you had no idea what you're about to get into, but that's also the exciting part of it.
Yeah, I spoke to Matt [Damon] and Emily [Blunt] about how Nolan approached them to be in the movie, and Emily had to read it at his house, and he gave Matt the script for, like, a night so he could read it the next morning. Did he make you go to his house?
GÖRANSSON: For Tenant, I read it at his house. For Oppenheimer, at the office. But it's very much in person, you know, and I love that.
It has to be weird, though, even for you when you go to the office to read the script and you know that he knows you're reading it at that time, you know what I mean? Like you're trying to digest it. Are you one of these people that can read the script and sort of get it all in instantly, or do you like having more time with it to digest it?
GÖRANSSON: Well, I like the instant impression that you get when you see or hear something, or you read or something. Obviously, it's gonna change with time, but immediately after reading that script, I’d never read anything like it, honestly. You immediately go into his head and into his mind. You're seeing the world through his eyes, and immediately I understand that that's what the music needs to feel like. You need to channel that complex, genius personality through so many different spectrums of music, and that's kind of what I took away from that first read.
When you are reading it, are you writing down some initial impressions of what you're feeling so you could sort of remember that when you start composing, or is it sort of just you're reading it and just taking it in?
GÖRANSSON: No, I'm just taking it in, just like if I would listen or watch something.
I read that when Nolan came to you, he mentioned violin, that that was the instrument that he was thinking about. Do you enjoy that when a director gives you that kind of guidance early on? And then, what was it like thinking about the violin for writing the music?
GÖRANSSON: Yeah, I love that. I love any kind of ideas. And especially the idea of the violin was extremely exciting for me because my wife, Serena Göransson, she's an incredible violinist, and to be able to work with her and start off going to the studio, and just [experimenting] with the tones of the violin and the vibratos. I think why Chris was so excited about the violin was that it's a fretless instrument; you can go from being most beautiful, romantic to, in a split second, change into something horrific and manic and neurotic. And to have those channel Oppenheimer's personality, that was something that we were out for.
Do you ever sneak in references to other scores the way that John Williams can do it?
GÖRANSSON: [Laughs] I don't think anyone could do it the way John Williams is doing. I don't actually know the way that he does it, but I don't do it intentionally. But maybe if you tell me that, “Oh, this sounds like this,” but I don't do it intentionally, no.
What are some of the sounds and themes that people can look forward to in the music of Oppenheimer?
GÖRANSSON: Well, I think one thing that was unique for this, or a couple of things that were unique for the score, was obviously the strings and the violins, but also the performance of the violins and the strings. One of the first things that Chris showed me was this– I went into a visual effects meeting at the IMAX, and I saw some of the visuals that he had been working on with (VFX supervisor) Andrew Jackson, and you see the spinning of the atoms. That visual to me was just so spellbinding, and I've never seen anything like it. And I was like, “That's how I want the music to sound like.”
It was also kind of scary because, how do I get that music to sound like that? Because I know I wanted to work with tempo and I know I wanted to record it live and play it with musicians, but how to get those tempo increasements increasing like that, doing it in one take, in one flawless take, that was the challenge. And we implemented a new recording technique that I didn't think was humanly possible to play it, but with this incredible group of musicians, we were able to do all these tempo changes all in one take. You can hear it in the piece that starts with Kenneth Branagh asking Cillian Murphy, like, “Can you hear the music?” And it starts off with this piece of music.
I read that you did the recording, and I could be wrong, like in this intense five-day period.
GÖRANSSON: Yeah.
Can you talk about that? Diving in for five straight days or whatever you did?
GÖRANSSON: I think it was five to 10 days of recording, but I think we spent just three days on figuring out how to record this unique piece of music with these tempo changes — 21 tempo changes starting from one tempo and just ending three times faster, and doing it all in one take. I think that human touch of it– First, I was thinking we have to do it in separate chunks but to do it all in one take, they really created that chaos of the spinning atoms.
When I speak to a lot of composers, directors, they always talk about how there's always something that they continually go back to because they're not 100% happy. Was there a piece of music in Oppenheimer that you kept going back to because you're like, “I think I can tweak it a little bit more?”
GÖRANSSON: For us, you know, the last piece that came to place was the music that comes after the bomb because the state that Oppenheimer is in is so complex. You're seeing these people cheering, but like, what's he feeling inside? And that took some time, and we worked on that. That was kind of the last piece of the puzzle. But other than that, I think, for the movie you have the first act of the movie, it's these complex, beautiful, melodic, intimate violins and strings. It starts off with this beautiful, intimate performance, and ends in an opera kind of, and you're going through that personal growth.
Then there's the second act of the movie, where all these theories and all these scribbles actually [turn] into an actual product, it turns into a bomb. You see them actually dealing with building it, hoisting it up, and the whole music spectrum and the color and tone of the music changes in that moment from this organic, live instrumentation to just these three sounds of, like, this pumping bass, and then you have this little ticking, like a metallic ticking, and that really propels you to these guys are about to blow themselves up, or they could potentially destroy mankind.
One of the things that's going on in Hollywood right now, and one of the reasons SAG and WGA are on strike, is AI. I've been asking other composers and a lot of people about their thoughts on AI because it can be a tool for good, but it's also very scary because of what it could mean. When you think of AI, are you scared of it? What's your take on it and what it could mean for what you do in Hollywood?
GÖRANSSON: I mean, it's interesting. I haven't fully started using it yet in whatever I do, but I'm definitely interested in using it as a tool, you know? And I think that's kind of what the conversation is about — you can use it as a tool, but it would never substitute the artistry of people and the players and the performers. Just like I said when I described the scene, you know, having so many people performing that piece of music created this breath and created this organic sense of chaos and excitement, and it's filling the room with air. That's something, when we recorded filling that room with air, that's something that we’ll never be able to– You can never replace that. So I think, you know, as long as, hopefully, you just use it as a tool for yourself.
Totally. My last thing for you, are you working on anything else now, or what's coming up for you?
GÖRANSSON: No, I mean, right now I'm here, I'm gonna watch a movie in New York tomorrow. I loved working on this movie, and I spent a lot of time into it, and a lot of my effort, and I feel like I learned something. I feel like I'm getting something back from it, and right now, I just wanna—after I'm done—I just wanna enjoy summer, enjoy my time with my kids, and just really take some time. So I don't have anything down the pipeline. It just has to be the right thing.'

How Is the Air Up There?
By Jay S. Jacobs
Air Jordan has conquered yet another facet of pop-culture. The biofilm Air has gotten some of the best reviews of the year since it was released to theaters last month. The film, about the pursuit of future sports icon Michael Jordan by a third-rate sneaker company called Nike, in a deal which ended up making them all insanely rich, seems like an odd subject for a hit movie. But somehow, it works.
A passion project for long-time friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon (Affleck co-starred and directed, Damon plays the lead), the story was always about more to them than just the production of a shoe. It was about dreamers, family, innovation and belief.
The screenplay – by first-time screenwriter Alex Convery (who was not even born when this story was taking place in 1984) – attracted not only Affleck and Damon, but a cross section of some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Viola Davis, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker, Chris Messina and Marlon Wayans. Like the filmmakers, they did the film for love of the subject and the script.
And the fact that it was – at least loosely – about one of the biggest names in sports history was just gravy.
This Q&A was derived from one of two virtual press conferences that we attended a few weeks ago, when Air was about to premiere in theaters. (Another one, with Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker and more, was published in time with the theatrical release.) Now that Air is getting its release on Amazon Prime, here is the second conference.
Tumblr media
I will have to say from GOAT to GOAT – what must it be like to get a cold call in which the greatest basketball player in the world says you are the only person who can play his mom? Talk about that phone call.
Viola Davis: I didn’t get that phone call. I just got the trickle-down message. Listen, I wish it were my style to like to get into best, great… it doesn't help me at all. But it is flattering. Because I do go in with a sense of “do I belong?” imposter syndrome. So, it's nice to feel wanted. But then the next thought is, now I got to step into the role. If you watch videos on Deloris Jordan, she is a study in Zen neutrality. The woman is very, very steady and quiet. I would imagine that even when she gets mad, she's probably very, very, very steady. (laughs) So, to really just envelop that spirit and everything was a challenge for me, because I'm the woman who always has a chip on your shoulder. I go on in bombastic. It was both flattering, challenging, and then just a joy to work with Matt and Ben, and all these terrific actors. Me and Julius still talk about it to this day. One of the greatest experiences.
True. Everybody just comes and joins and makes I feel there's a family affair. I think it comes from Matt, you and Ben, the way you guys went about assembling this group of folks. Talk about all of the high priority that you have this film; honoring the sports, honoring the artists that you brought along to it, honoring Michael Jordan. How did you guys balance that as you were trying to tell the story?
Matt Damon: It all started with the script, really. That's down to Alex at the end of the table. I just thought it was so great. I didn't know the story. Then it was step by step, I’d say, because the first step was getting the blessing of Michael Jordan. Before we got too excited, Ben said, “we should go see him.” My kids were out to something in New York, and I couldn't go. So, Ben went to Florida to see Michael. Michael said, “It's fine to make the movie. It's okay with me.” But Ben said, “Well, what I really would love to know is what's most important to you.” It was out of that meeting that he said, George Raveling, Howard White and then he started to talk about his mom. Ben called me afterwards and said, “Mike was very intimidating guy.” (laughs)
Tumblr media
Yeah. He told us about it.
Matt Damon: He's an intimidating guy. He's an icon and he's all of these things. He has all this meaning for all of us. Ben said, “He had this look on his face when he spoke with his mom that I’d never seen before.” So, we felt like well, now we know what the movie is. He said, “The only bad news is, we have to get Viola Davis. If we don't get Viola Davis, we can't make the movie.” So, that was when we started thinking about how to expand Deloris. That's really one of the great things about this cast, that everybody is really a filmmaker. These two sitting next to me [Davis and her husband Julius Tennon] are A-list producers. The Woman King, anybody? Marlon, Chris, they're writers as well as actors. They're filmmakers. Jason Bateman is a director. We really lean on our actors. Part of our process has always been – from Good Will Hunting all the way through today – to lean into what your actor is bringing. The actor always is in the moment and always knows. We had these conversations with Viola, like “If it doesn't feel right, what did you feel like here?” That's always the way to the best scene.
One of the things I loved about this is it's subtle with all of the very big statements that it makes. One of my favorite subtle moments was when you walk into the Jordans’ home, and Julius, your character, James, greets him, and he just lets him walk on back to where Viola Davis was going to sit him down, and just keeps working on the car. Talk about the subtleness of your character.
Julius Tennon: What I wanted to do was bring dignity and levity to Mr. Jordan. Obviously, I've seen video of him. I've seen him with his son. The father that is proud of his son. A man that's protective of his wife. That's when I said that whole thing about Deloris, call me if you need me. Let her go do her thing because I know she could do her thing. I wanted her to know that I'm there. I'm just going to do what I normally do in the course of a day. He was just a simple man. A blue collar guy. I just wanted to depict that.
Tumblr media
Viola, talk playing that dynamic of a couple on screen.
Viola Davis: Well, let me tell you something. That is our dynamic in real life. Julius has told me since we got together, he said, “V, when you come home and it’s late at night, you make sure you don’t get out of that car until the gates close. If someone’s following you, you lay on that horn and I’m going to come out with my baseball bat, and I’ll drop their ass.” (Everyone laughs.) I laid on the horn once by accident, coming home at three o'clock in the morning. I counted to five. Julius came out with the baseball bat. I knew. I was like, “That’s it! I'm going to marry him. That’s my dude.”
Marlon, I loved you in this. It was such a great portrayal. What was crazy about the man that you're portraying in real life, is it was like learning about Hamilton. He did that? He did this? He was there? What was it like for you? Was that all their baked into the script? Did you go on a discovery journey of your own?
Marlon Wayans: I was the first one to shoot. I got the call on Friday, and we were filming on Monday. So YouTube was my friend. (laughs) Crash course on YouTube on George Raveling. I learned a lot about him. I learned he was a fantastic man. He himself was the first like black coach to win a national championship. He coached the Olympic team. He's from Jersey. There was a lot that I picked up. When I read the monologue, and the fact that that was real, and that he still has the “I Have a Dream” speech in his possession, I thought that it was an amazing character to play. The more you research, the better you can do in terms of your performance. I love that when we went on set, Matt and Ben were like, “We’re not impersonating. You can bring you to it.” That's always to an actor the best thing you can do, when I can mix that person with my emotions and what I bring. The script was already written so beautifully, but we got to play. I could get out of my head and really have fun. That's what it was. When I left the set, I just felt like if every day on that set felt like the first day, that's going to be a magical movie.
Tumblr media
Alex, was this a story you knew so much about already? Are you even an ‘80s baby?
Alex Convery: No, I’m not. I’m a ‘90s Chicago kid, which is where the Bulls and Michael Jordan and that connection comes from. I came to the story… Like everyone else I was locked up during those first couple months of quarantine watching The Last Dance and there's a little five-minute clip about Nike and just how Air Jordan came together. I was at a point in my career where you're trying to write a script that gets noticed. When you can explain the movie in one sentence, right? It's a story of how Nike got Michael Jordan, it just it has that ability to go to the top of the pile. People will give it a bit more of a chance. But like everything comes down to character. So, the question was, who can be the protagonist and the engine of this movie? Finding both Sonny and Deloris was really to me what elevated above just a movie about a shoe and Michael Jordan. Finding the human elements in a very big movie. I kind of call them big little movies. The little being: this is just a movie about a shoe deal, right? It takes place over a week or so. It's small in scope. But the big part is when you say it's about Nike and Michael Jordan. You could talk to 100 people on the street and all 100 of them are going to know who Michael Jordan is and what Nike is. To me, that's what elevates it above just a movie about a shoe.
There is a certain pigheadedness needed to achieve a dream. Sonny Vaccaro could be rude to people, how were you able to make him lovable?
Matt Damon: A lot of it was really there on the page with what Alex wrote. Sonny, we were really trying to capture the spirit of these people in this time, more than anything. Not exactly who said what, at exactly what moment. All of these people on the Nike side independent of one another have talked about this time was such nostalgia. That's what we were trying to create. Remind people they were the underdog, which is such a weird way to think of Nike now. Before this incredible deal, they really were, these renegades, outsiders. That was really what we were trying to get. The characters all had this incredible, infectious energy that was really jumping off the page. The script was really quite something.
Tumblr media
Viola, Ben Affleck told us that he felt directing you is one of those impossible, aspirational dreams.
Matt Damon: He didn’t feel that way about directing me. (laughs)
What was it like working with Ben? Also, It feels like you had to undo your experiences in Juilliard to be less expressive as Deloris. She’s just so focused.
Viola Davis: That's who she is. Once again, Zen neutrality. That's what I see with this woman, this incredible woman. I wonder if she plays poker.
Matt Damon: She did. With this deal. (laughs) She played the greatest hand of poker of all time.
Viola Davis: Here's the thing with Ben… and Matt. But Ben, you trust him. There's a lot of times you go on set, you don't trust anyone. Because truth be known, there's a lot of people in our profession who don't know what they're doing. (laughs) I'm not saying that from any place of condescension or giving anyone shade. Everyone sees the result of a movie or a career, but they don't see the journey. It's the journey, it’s the process where you see the artistry. The people who actually know what they're doing and know how to piece it together. Know what they want. Know what they're seeing in the camera. It's not working. Knowing how much, how little. I've had a 40-year career where I trusted certain people, and they have done me wrong. Because you don't always see it. You do need help sometimes. I trusted him. I trusted what he saw. I trusted his process. I trusted this choice, even in the actors, that they were going to deliver. Then you have to ultimately trust that he chose you for a reason, because that's the one thing that training school beats out of you is any sense of competence and level of mental health. But yeah, trust is what I’ll say.
Tumblr media
Matt, as a producer, was it hard to make the film feel like a big crowd pleaser, even though it's a smaller story?
Matt Damon: Yeah, I mean, I'm bringing my kids to the premiere. It's totally appropriate for them. It really is one of those stories that comes along, and you go, “Wow, this is really for everybody.” We used to call them feel good movies. That's really what you know what it is. You should leave the theater with a skip in your step.
I know the reception down in Austin (the premiere at SxSW), was just off of the charts. That wasn’t your first Austin premiere? You've obviously been down there before?
Matt Damon: No, that was my first one.
What was it like?
Matt Damon: It was incredible. I knew we were in good shape when Viola walked on screen and the crowd went crazy. I was like, “Oh, this is good. This is going to be good.” Yeah, it was really cool. I've been to so many film festivals, and that one just felt like everyone was so excited we were there. So excited for the movie. There was just a great energy in the room. I'll never forget it.
Tumblr media
I obviously have been cheering for you like that as just a journalist. But I have never imagined it's not very often that you can feel like what's like to be a Beyonce-like superstar, Taylor Swift-type reception. What was that like for you to experience?
Viola Davis: Awesome. Julius is an Austinite.
Julius Tennon: I’m an Austinite.
Viola Davis: Born and bred. A lot of family members
Julius Tennon: It was cool being back at the place. I didn’t see many of my family members, but the reception was awesome. It was incredible, electric.
Marlon, you said you did this in just a weekend of studying for it. The Martin Luther King aspect of it, was that part of it too? George’s activism? He was more than just a coach; he really was somebody that was an advocate for those athletes and professionals that straddled both.
Marlon Wayans: Raveling is an amazing dude with an amazing story. He actually was at a young age down there at that rally. He had a long, long career of that. Just to be able to know you're doing a movie about… I mean, it's such a small part, but they say there's no such thing as small roles, only small actors. With this one, it was a small but pivotal role. You feel it when you look at the script. You go, “I got to do this.” So many times you think about a scene but then you look at the meat within the scene and the character that you're portraying. Then you look at the whole picture and you just go, it’s something I have to do. There's no way you don't do something like this. An opportunity to play with all these legends and just go bring your best you. There's a great scene. I'm very, very proud to be a part of this picture.
What would you say is something about this film that will surprise people?
Matt Damon: Well, if you don't like Viola, me, Michael Jordan and Ben, you probably shouldn't go. (Everyone laughs.) No, I really do think there's something for everybody in this one. It's not a strictly sports movie. I think for the sports aficionados, they'll love the behind the scenes, behind the curtain type of stuff that's in here. But I think it surprised a lot of the people who weren't expecting it. It sneaks up on you. Because of the role that Viola plays and how she takes over the movie. I do think there will be something for everybody in this one.
Marlon Wayans: You just feel good. You leave the movie, and you feel good as a human with an everyday story. We all have dreams. We all have something that we want to do. Everybody tells us we cannot do it. Just the fact that this man made that happen and look at the iconic thing that was spawned from Michael Jordan signing with Nike. This shoe. This brand. This thing that changed pop culture. In a huge way, I just think it's a very powerful movie. It started with something small; a person with an idea and a gut feeling to make something happen. We all as people, every artist up here, had an inspiration, a gut feeling about what we wanted to do in this lifetime. Everybody [was] telling us no. We every day make it happen.
Julius Tennon: Absolutely.
Matt Damon: Well said.
Julius Tennon: That was awesome.

Fandom: Blackstar Theater Starless

Warning: All of these are purely HCs with no evidence to back them up.
Requested by: Potato
Prompt: Do you have any BSTS HCs that either no one has asked for or you've been keeping close to your chest? If so, care to share?
A/N: Some of these are not secrets but shhhh, and some might get into the theory territory.

Kasumi, by profession, is a secret agent of some sort. His training as a spy taught him to keep a low profile and can move around/appear out of nowhere without getting detected.
He also keeps track of the movements of all the members in Starless, where they go, what they do, who they call, and so on. He has a room in his home that looks like an obsession wall straight out of a movie - papers, newspaper clippings, stick notes on the wall with red threads connecting everything. That’s how he keeps track of everyone in Starless.
He has a photographic memory and good memory in general. That's why he can learn the dance moves and scripts of all teams in Starless.
The reason he helps Unei is to see the “inside” details of Starless, including accounts, profits, where the money goes, if there are any suspicious transactions, and so on. Getting information out of Unei is also a lot easier than getting Haseyama or Takami to talk.
Kasumi is the type of office worker who brings donuts from his co-workers. He wants to stay in everyone’s good books, but at the same time, he doesn’t get buddy-buddy with anyone to maintain his low profile.
He has a second job not to make money, but to make people see him as a normal salaryman type of guy. This makes it easier for him to get away with suspicious/spy-related things.
Tumblr media
Mokuren experienced a traumatic event in their childhood, and their only source of happiness was seeing people dance. That’s why they are obsessed with dancing and use it as a coping mechanism. This is the reason why Mokuren got mad at Kokuyou for trying to control their dancing abilities - for Mokuren, dancing means freedom.
Mokuren’s kitchen is filled to the brim with food, including their kitchen cabinets and drawers. 80% of their monthly budget is dedicated to food.
They don't have any friends outside of Starless because they don't trust anyone and would much rather stay alone than get betrayed.
Tumblr media
When Qu and Maica were growing up, Qu used Maica’s face as a canvas to perfect his makeup skills. He would also dress Maica up all the time, and Maica couldn’t bring himself to say no.
As kids, Qu and Maica would dress like twins all the time.
Qu was always soft-spoken and got picked on in school, but Maica would always protect him. That’s how Maica learned to throw punches.
He would take Maica’s mom’s heels and wear them all the time around the house.
It takes A LOT for Qu to get mad, but when he loses his temper, all hell breaks loose.
Tumblr media
Hari’s father has kept him away from the public eye/media since he was a child so that his enemies can’t hurt him. That’s why he can work at Starless without anyone recognizing him.
Hari’s father has always been a controlling man, and that’s why Hari wants to do things his father wouldn’t approve of - get a motorcycle, join an underground theater restaurant, learn how to dance, and give more preference to his dreams.
Hari secretly looks up to Kokuyou because he wants to be a badass rebel like Team W’s leader.
His family has hired bodyguards for him, but he always finds a way to keep them busy when he needs to come to Starless. His team members know about this and help him out when needed by covering his shifts.
He is more and more intrigued by everything going on in Starless with MC, the organization, death of the investigator but also knows the more he crawls down the rabbit hole, the more difficult it will be for him to climb back out. He wants to use his father's connections to figure out what exactly is going on and is waiting for the right time.
Tumblr media
Zakuro hasn’t fully lost his memories and is playing his cards carefully. For some reason, I get a feeling that Zakuro is on Kei’s side (from Kei’s words when Zakuro entered Starless) but he’s putting on an act.
He and Kei learned to sing in the same school/academy, and that’s how they met. Zakuro took a liking to Kei, but Kei wanted nothing to do with him. At first, Kei would ignore him but eventually gave up and tuned Zakuro out.
Zakuro really likes people who are serious/grumpy/easily annoyed types and gets a huge kick out of bothering them - Sin, Kei, Kokuyou, Mokuren, Maica, Rico, and Mizuki. On to flip side, Zakuro hates dealing with people who are too innocent or clueless because they make his head spin - Gui, Sinju, Taiga, Ginsei, and Akira.
Behind his playful/cunning mask, Zakuro is desperately searching for his memories and has moments when he wonders if he’s forgetting something or someone important.

Here is my recap of the Birth of a Show part 1 (Ian Brennan) episode of the podcast.
It's probably obvious from the title but this will be two parts.
Kevin said buckle up kids. Ian doesn't sit for a lot of interviews but once you get him talking he doesn't stop.
They talked about Ian's kids.
Ian said he has always been an old lady at heart.
Ian wrote the screenplay for Glee when he was 27 and 30 when he moved out Los Angeles to start working on the show.
Ian thought it was all going to disappear and was frugal for a long time. He had a dolphin colored Camry. Amber and Jenna left him a note after finding a dead bee in the car telling him it was time to get rid of it. At some point the bumper started to fall off.
The screenplay for Glee was originally meant to be a movie.
Ian was in show choir and hated it. He thought it was very weird because it doesn't really exist outside of high school.
Ian could never square the circle of being a show choir nerd.
When Ian was living in New York news broke that his old show choir director was going to prison for inappropriate sexual conduct with a student. Kevin conjectured that this was the origin of Sandy Ryerson.
Ian's girlfriend at the time told him that something like that happened at her school. Only it was a male teacher and male student. They ran off together and they are still together and happily married. Ian was like this is the first scene of a movie.
Ian is not trained as writer. He had tried to write plays but he found they are hard for him to write. They have to be important but tv and movies just have to be good.
Ian was a theater major.
Even being a theater nerd Ian knew tv is way more ubiquitous and more people consume it.
The original screenplay was very strange, dry, and dark. It was very different then what Glee would become and more like Virgin Suicides. He knew it was good but it just sat in a drawer for awhile.
People didn't seem interested and thought that no one knew about show choir.
Ian did not hand his script to Ryan Murphy. Someone else passed it on to him.
Ian remembers the day he sat down for the first time with Ryan and Brad. They clicked immediately and Ryan suggested to make it a tv show.
During this time he was doing a play in Kentucky. He liked the people he was working with but hated the play.
Ian said there is a bit of survivors guilt when you make it in Hollywood. You ask yourself why me.
Ian never really got bothered by the fame the show got and he thought it was weird. He can't imagine what it must have been like for Chris because he was so young. He doesn't know how anyone comes out normal on the other end. Kevin and Jenna joked that they are just barely normal.
Jenna asked if the screenplay was a musical. Ian said no it was not.
When the show was pitched they said that no one would break out into song. They broke that in like the second episode.
The cast even had it in their talking points. This wasn't high school musical. They only sang in appropriate places.
Ian is hard on himself about the show.
Ian usually ends up apologizing for it. He said the first 13 episodes were the best. There are whole sections that he doesn't remember.
Kevin and Jenna said they apologize for the show too.
Ian said if you look back it's all very good but it mostly holds up.
He said Glee did sort of the opposite of Big Bang Theory. He said no one really knew Big Bang Theory was on until season 4 but Glee really quickly gained popularity. It was hard to keep that up.
Ian said his job was mostly commenting on the show through Sue.
Glee was one of the last shows to be shot on film. That alone was really expensive. They were ableo to offset the cost with music sales.
The show changed and became aware of itself.
Nowadays even at it's lowest point Glee would be one of top viewed shows. There aren't as many people watching live tv.
The pilot did better in Australian then it did in the US.
Jenna asked if Ian always wrote for Sue an how hard was it to write for her? Ian said about 98% of her stuff was written by him but not in the pilot. It was super easy to write because Jane was such a good actress. He was able to find Sue's voice in his head and go from there. He said it was fun to be able to comment on anything and everything that happened on the show. Writing for Sue became a release but also a joy. It's also unusual in television to be allowed to have one character to yourself.
Jena asked how often did they make him rewrite Sue's stuff. He said he doesn't think you get a Donald Trump without a Sue Sylvester. He said I did this to us. Back to the question he said Ryan was good at swatting away dumb feedback. The broadcast standards and practice people who like the prescreeners really liked the show. They waned to try to get stuff across. Brand names are really hard to get across on television. Ian said it's all about the joke. He would just use the brand name and deal with the consequences later.
Kevin asked how stoked Ian was when Jane was cast. Kevin asked if he was a big Jane fan. Ian said yeah. He also said Sue wasn't in the original pilot. They did a notes call with Kevin Riley and he loved it but he said they needed an antagonist. Ryan came up with a cheerleading coach played by Jane Lynch. Now looking back the show wouldn't be the same without her.
Ian, Brad, and Ryan had such an amazing chemistry they were able to be able to turnout anything and everything really really rapidly. They didn't hire a writing staff at first and wrote 46 episodes by themselves. That is no easy feat.
Kevin said there is only one episode of season 1 that is a clunker and that is Funk. He said that the commentary buy Sue and Santana was great though.
At a certain point during glee entertainment journalism moved online. Ian said all of it is bad except this podcast of course. It was jut full of snark. This put Glee in a feedback loop of critiscism.
This is where the first part ends.

Alright, @watercolorsinmyheart inspired me, and now I'll pitch my own DCLA characters.
Isadora is a recently turned 17 year old who loves theater and is in a local theater group for teenagers. She also likes to swim, but more does so in her free time. Theater is her main interest. During the year, she experiences things she didn't expect and learns a bit more about herself.
Carmen is Isadora's older twin sister and is very into swimming and competes in a swim team. She also likes to sing on her free time. Carmen and Isadora were closer as kids, but recently they've grown apart. Will the sisters get closer again or will they only grow more apart?
Juni is the little brother of Isadora and Carmen. He is 11 and hates how his sisters treat him like he's half his age. They don't seem to accept that he's growing up. But, he also likes to mess with them and often gets what he wants by using his "cute little brother" charm on them.
Carolina is 16 at the start (but turns 17 in just a month or two) and is Isadora's best friend. She's into stage tech and is kind of unpredictable. You never know what she's gonna do. People who does not know her thinks she's very weird and kind of annoying, but when you get to know her, she's got this depth you don't see at first. She also dyes her hair like every month just because.
David is an 18 year old boy who has a great singing voice and often wants the theater group to put up a musical. Even when they do drama or plays, he tries to get some music in there. He may be in love with Isadora or Carmen, but they aren't sure who. It's not like he can't tell them apart, as they aren't identical twins, but he seems to just... have a thing for both of them.
Carlos is a 17 year old swimmer boy who's just this fun guy. He and David often sing together at karaoke nights, and are thinking of starting a band together. They just need the perfect third member...
Jessica is an 18 year old girl who seems to be everywhere. At school, at the theater, at the pool, in the swimming center changing rooms, at the karaoke bar, EVERYWHERE. She always gets on Isadora's nerves and Isadora doesn't want anything to do with her. Why is she here? What does she want? What is going on?!
Daria is a quirky girl who always talks about her horses. Always "sorry I was late, I was out riding", "I gotta go, I need to get to the stable", "So this this reminds me when I was out with my horse..." If she is a theater girl or in the swim team, or just exist, I have yet to come up with. But she is the local horse girl because that is very much needed.
Javier is 19, just graduated high school and wants to be an influencer. He tries to record everything in hopes of getting popular. He records play rehearsals, swimming competitions, heck he'll even record people in the changing rooms having private conversations (he got in huge trouble for that...)
Petra is 16 and is on Carmen's swim team. She is very competitive and has something against Isadora. She just always tells Carmen to ditch her or tell her that Isadora is bad for her and she should just stop associating with her, and Carmen is like "she's my sister, we live in the same house-". Petra also very anti-boys. Just hates them for breathing basically.
Camilo is 17 and is described as "an artistic soul". He speaks in a theater monologue voice. He also looks like he's stoned all the time.
Julia has just turned 16, and is a very shy girl. She mostly does stage tech, but she writes the most awesome scripts, so awesome they put up one of her scripts as a play. She is good friends with Daria.
And that's all I could came up with, there's probably more characters (especially like, swim coaches and some adult/s leading the theater club), many of these just came out of the blue, as I've both pitched a swimming dcla show and a theater kid dcla show.

Bad Omens🔮: Chapter 12
Tumblr media
Arabella wakes up with Luke laying on her chest. He clung onto her like she was the only light in his world of darkness. “Wake up Lu.” Arabella said, running her hand through Luke’s curls. “How are you up before me? You had an eventful night last night amata…go back to bed.” Arabella moved trying to get out of Luke's grasp. “We have to go train Luke. How are we supposed to defeat Calum if we don’t train?” Arabella asked as she heard the door to the room open. “Hey…can I talk to you guys?” Mike asked shyly as he entered the room. Arabella sat down on the bed as Luke sat up behind Arabella, wrapping his arms around Arabella’s neck. Mike grabbed a chair and pulled it up, sitting across from them.
“Look I realized that I acted out before…and I shouldn’t have done that. You guys are adults and can do whatever the hell you want…but Luke I swear to god I’ll kill you if you hurt her.” Michael said sternly as Luke was half asleep. “I’ve already hurt her. Did you forget about that?” Luke asked tiredly. “Right…” Luke said trailing off while closing his eyes. “Luke and I appreciate you coming to your senses.” Arabella said as she reached up and started playing with Luke’s blond curls, waking him up. “What’s that?” Mike asked, pointing to the scripted “a” on Arabella’s hip. “It’s nothing Mike, leave it alone.” The question perked Luke right up as he knew that his ass was on the line. He reached around Arabella’s waist and pulled up her bottoms. “If it’s nothing then why do I have to leave it alone?” Mike said angrily as he reached to pull down Arabella’s bottoms. Luke slapped his hand away and said “Are you serious Mike, don’t fucking touch her.” Mike retreated and said “fuck, we just talked about this didn’t we?” Luke nodded as Mike walked out the door.
Arabella and Luke took their showers and headed down to the training arena. “So are we working on your air powers today?” Luke asked, twirling a knife in his hand. “Yeah…” Arabella trailed off. “What’s wrong amata?” Luke asked, walking towards her and lightly taking one of her hands in his. “Nothing…” Arabella said, looking down. “Let’s train ok?” Arabella said while giving Luke a kiss on the cheek. The only thing left in Luke’s hand was a single pink flower. “Hey did you give me this?” He asked Arabella, holding up the pink flower. “No.” Arabella said, confused. Luke could tell she wasn’t lying. “Okay so I’m going to launch this knife at you, and you have to divert it away with the air!” Luke said excitedly while trying to divert the attention away from the random pink flower he put behind his ear. “Ok that seems easy enough!” Arabella said, thinking she’s going to nail this.
“Ok are you ready!” Luke asked, getting ready to throw the knife. “Yeah!” Arabella said as Luke launched the knife toward her. Arabella blew the knife and it did divert away from her…right into Lukes shoulder. “Fuck!” Luke screamed in pain as he fell to his knees. “Are you kidding me Bells!” Luke said as Arabella ran over to him, blood streaming down Lukes bare chest. “Shit, Ashton always took care of my wounds, let me call him.” Arabella said frantically. “I never stabbed you with a knife before!” Luke yelled as she called Ashton.
Ashton ran down to where Luke and Arabella were on the ground. “Ashton, can you help him!” Arabella asked while he scanned Luke's wound. “I’m not a professional Arabella! He has to go to the hospital.” Ashton yelled as Mike walked towards the crew. “Shit that’s bad.” Mike said nonchalantly. “I’m going to the hospital with you!” Arabella said worriedly. “You can’t…it’s villains only and you wouldn’t be able to come in anyway because we aren’t family.” Luke was right, but Arabella wouldn’t take no for an answer. “I’ll dye my hair and pretend to be a villain! I took theater in highschool, I could do it!” Arabella said confidently. Luke agreed knowing he’d feel more comfortable with her there anyway. Arabella started to try and clean the blood off of Luke’s chest gently as he tensed up. “Hey when did we get a whole bowl of condoms in the training arenas?” Mike asked as he picked up the bowl by its rim. “What the hell?” Luke said, confused. Mike took Arabella by the arm and started leading her to the bathroom to do her hair. “What color do you want?” Mike asked as Luke yelled “purple…purple highlights, it’d match her eyes.”
Mike and Ashton looked confused but went along with it. “Do you really like Luke?” Mike asked while dying Arabella’s hair purple. “I don’t know…we aren’t dating or anything, we can’t.” Arabella said sadly. “Okay…well he hasn’t said anything about you to me by the way.” Michael said, trying to diffuse the tension. “Okay…”
A few hours later Luke and Arabella arrived at the villain hospital. “Hi, my husband here is stabbed?” Arabella said to the lady at the counter. “Okay…come with me.” The lady said taking Arabella and Luke to a hospital room. “The doctor will be right with you.” The lady said leaving the room. “I’m sorry Lu, I didn’t mean to stab you I swear.” Arabella said, putting her head down. Luke tilted her head to meet her beautiful grey-blue eyes as he pushed a newly purple piece of hair out of her face. “I know darling.” Arabella and Luke pressed their foreheads together as the doctor walked in. “Hey…I heard someone got stabbed? Those stupid heroes.” The doctor rolled his eyes. The doctor's comment sunk into Lukes brain. “All we have to do is remove the blade and give you stitches. Would you like to wait outside?” The doctor asked Arabella. “No, I'm fine here.” Arabella said, placing her hand in Luke’s. “Okay Mrs.?” The doctor asked. “Hemmings…Bella Hemmings.” Arabella said, looking into Luke’s baby blue eyes. “Hm, when did those get there? They usually go at the front desk.” The doctor said, looking at yet another bowl of condoms. “My flowers…” Arabella trailed off as she saw a bouquet of pink flowers on the other nightstand. “Ahh” Luke hissed as the doctor removed the knife. “Okay let’s stitch you up fast.” The doctor said, weaving the needle into Luke.
After a few minutes the stitching was over. “Okay you’re all set!” The doctor said walking out. Luke walked to the front desk and the lady said “where do you want your bills to go?” She said getting ready to type on the computer. “My fathers house…Andrew Hemmings.” Luke said as the lady typed it in, because I mean everyone knew where he lived, except the heroes of course. Luke swung his good arm around Arabella while walking out and said “Let’s go home Mrs. Hemmings.”
