i kinda hate how my mom wants to control my preferences too. i mean she isn't as controlling as this sounds but yeah, she does have a fair share in clothes i buy, things i do, and everything else; but there's a limit. just yesterday she was checking my laptop ( which i dont like btw, i hate when she goes through my devices but it's an asian household and you can't expect privacy ) and she found a few pics of idols i like and she was like, "should i delete them for you" ?? just why does she think i want to delete them ? and even if i do, why does she think that i need her to delete them for me ? and whatever the fuck she has against my likes and dislikes tbh i can't even understand why i need to get her approval before liking something. i think hate is a strong word, it's more like i can't understand her. i know what she wants but when i give her that, she doesn't sound pleased. i gifted her earnings last birthday but she has only worn them once or twice because she doesn't like them, even though she loves the fact that i gave her a gift. this year, i told her that she can buy whatever she wants and i'll pay, but she's like "is that even a way of giving gifts?" i mean she clearly doesn't like, or rather, prefer my taste so it's better if she chooses something she likes but she simply ignores my suggestion. also i think she puts my brother above me but that's understandable 'cause he's younger, but sometimes she outright ignores my efforts. he'd study for 6 hrs and she'd praise him— which im not saying is bad bc he deserves it— but i study all day and she still says i don't study. when my dad arrives from work he asks what i studied the whole day and my mom's like "she didn't study anything," and i dont know if it's a joke or whatever but it's not funny anymore. she just doesn't notice my efforts. she's so paranoid about everything, she spots phone in my hand and assumes im wasting my time as if i don't have hundred other things to do. she doesn't want me to do anything that's not studying, doesn't want me to make time for myself. hell, she doesn't even want me to make friends because they can distract me; and if i do make friends, she wants them to be 'smart' and 'people who have the same goal as me' and other stuff. i'm afraid there's going to be a point where she'll start choosing friends for me. i get that she's worried but i don't see a point of this tbh. she can't expect me to live a vegetative life and 'excel' in everything she expects me to. it's so hard to please her, i feel like it's pointless because she's never satisfied. even if i become a doctor, i feel like she'll want me to do more. even if i get the highest degree in that field, i think it wouldn't suffice for her. she's not forcing her dreams upon me. pursuing medicine was my choice, but studying it doesn't feel like i'm doing it for myself anymore. it's more like, i'm doing it because i'm scared of letting her down. but then again, i don't think there's an end to this because when i meet her expectations, she puts them even higher

#im trying so hard to not let these feelings take over me but it's just hard #i wake up thinking i'm doing it for me and by the end of the day; it feels like a charity work #the worst part is; there's nothing except med for me to do #ive always made decisions that lead to this field #now i wish i had given it more thought and not pursued smth i decided overnight when i was 5 #i wish i had more choices bc it's too late now #anyway sigh #ivenez
