Hello! I wanted to rec a fic on ao3 called "Restoration" by jelenedra. It's complete, an alternate universe of the sunshot campaign told nonlinearly. It has strong fairy tale and fae elements, with a touch of mystery. Bit of a fix it. Some delightful one liners, and the final ending imagery is just LOVELY. The fic deserves much more love. There's also some YilingWei, wwx not raised by Jiang, and sentient Burial Mounds elements. Enchanting read that keeps you enthralled and curious and intrigued.

Upon rereading tgcf, one of the biggest complaints I have is how lackluster all the extra chapters were. literally none of them were good and all contained rlly gross and harmful sentiments (like the amnesia one which.. yea.. or all the things implying xl should get pregnant for hc thus equating gay relationships with hetero ones and playing into the wife thing and just GOD I HATE MXTX) 

There were a lot of little plot points i wish that had been further elaborated on more in the extras as opposed to hualian being ... like that. I had enough. Like mdzs had actaully good extras (minus the incense burners) that were nice side stories that elaborated more on the characters. Like the hook one with the juniors was so cute and i loved seeing them grow more. Or the lotus pod extras omg.. im such a lotus pod extra stan. those were so cute and gave us a lot of good insight into just how lovestruck lwj was during the times when he didn’t see wwx. mxtx should've stuck to those sorta extras in tgcf but NOOO. SO I have a list of so many other more interesting things those chapters couldve been spent on like:

A resolution on He Xuan’s revenge and his character arc. Bc its implied He Xuan is still hanging out and watching over sqx and that taking revenge didn’t fully satisfy him bc ok.. yea shi wudu is dead but he xuans family will never come back. Now what does he have to live for?? i wish we couldve seen a look into his life during the entire ordeal. like a chapter from his perspective while he was posing as Ming Yi  and maybe a look at a conversation btw he xuan and the real ming yi or a chapter after SQX was banished to see what he’s doing now. Also what did he xuan owe hua cheng money for anyways?? Like ik not every little thing has to be explained but I Want to Know. PLEASE more goth boyfriend content now I just wanna see him :,((

a better resolution of yin yu and quan yizhens storyline. im still mad abt how that plot point was split btw books 3 and 5  when it was rlly out of place and  there were other more pressing plot matters and it just rlly deserved more time. Also i thought yin yu died!?!?!? but apparently one of the extras says he’s alive and man... i;m not reading any more of the extras to see that, give me a full yin yu and quan yizhen chapter.. fuck.

a day in the life of the guoshi fangxin or general hua PLEASE especially like one where hua cheng was SO CLOSE to meeting xie lian but had no clue that xie lian was there at the time but the two did smth that inadvertantly helped the other and they still were connected even though they hadnt met omg pls that’d be so nice. like imagine Hua cheng catching a glimpse of the guoshi in public in yong’an while he’s trying to follow some lead that points to xie lian or maybe following a lead to capture qi rong bc he said he knew qi rong was a part of the yong’an stuff and originally thought the guoshi was one of qi rongs pawns. like can you IMAGINE him getting so close. but at the last second he did smth small that impacted xie lian. like they bumped into eachother on the street or smth. god i’d go crazy

OR vice versa.. like a day in the life of the young ghost king hua cheng. Like again, one of my biggest issues was that hua cheng just knew everything and its never really explained how he got all of that info. like yes he’s been alive very long and has eyes and ppl working for him everywhere but like... how did he build that network?? I’d love to see a chapter of young ghost king hua cheng travelling around trying to learn as much as he can abt the world and how it can help bring him to xie lian. and the two maybe are in the same kingdom for a bit and they don’t meet exactly but hua cheng stops some fight or something and helps xie lian indirectly or maybe xie lian is performing on the street in some costume and hua cheng doesn’t recognize him and smiles and gives him a coin or smth. idk i’m just dying for any sorta extra chapter or fic like that. i’m honestly so tempted to write my own but i cant write

also!! we’ve seen how xie lian picks up people down on their luck near him and show them kindness (like banyue, lang ying, xiao ying, he tried to with san lang but we know how that ended lmao) so i’d love to see another little vignette of him doing that on his travels and how every person he meets teaches him smth about life and being a good person and idk, i just think it’d be rlly sweet. i love this facet of his character and feel like we didn’t see enough of it towards the end.

ALSO hua cheng only seems to respect one heavenly official besides xie lian and thats yushi huang.. i assume thats mostly bc she was the only one to help xie lian and let him use the rain master hat to bring water to yong’an. I was thinking maybe when he was a new supreme he had run into trouble and maybe was picked up by the rain master and helped him heal and in return he promised to help protect her village from harm in the future. Like i know a heavenly official wouldn’t cooperate with a ghost like that but yushi huang is different and doesn’t really care about the heavens so i think she would protect him if he could do something to benefit her village. ik this is kinda far fetched but when he first became a supreme I’m sure a bunch of ppl probably tried to mess with him and didn’t rlly believe him to be undefeatable bc he hadn’t proved himself yet also i doubt all his power came overnight. he had to learn how to use it once he escaped the kiln. and some group probably thought they could weaken him somehow. I’m thinking maybe a rlly well formed group of ghosts actually caught him off guard once and he had to retreat and was picked up by the rain master and stayed with her and learned from her a bit. i think it’d be a cool concept also i just rlly want more yushi huang content and i’m on their friendship agenda bc he rlly did seem to actually respect her when she first appeared and i think it’d be cool if the two had some history together.

Also idrc if this was addressed I couldve missed it But!! Did xie lian ever tell Hua cheng that the reason he got the curse shackles and was banished again in the first place wasnt bc jun wu wanted to punish him, but because he requested it. And specifically requested it bc he felt guilty abt letting wu ming take the human face disease and disperse for his sake. So he took the shackles and descended to atone for that?? Bc I dont recall hua cheng learning that bc his soul was already dispersed at that point so it didnt follow him and xie lian didnt say anything so uhhh... someone should tell hua cheng that. Like I dont think xie lian rlly said how much hua cheng meant to him and didnt show him he was loved in grand ways. Like xie lian did always care for bc in other ways but I think if hua cheng learned abt this on screen it wouldve been such a great moment and I'm rlly surprised mxtx didnt address this iirc!?!? Like imagine jun wu telling Hua cheng this in the kiln bc xie lian wouldnt say it himself. Imagine how cool that would be.

Also a small thing adding into the whole young ghost king Hua cheng stuff. Its implied and p much stated that hua cheng isnt his real name. That he likely doesnt have a real name bc his parents died? (It's not clear. I'm still mad at mxtx for not making his childhood clearer). So I'd like to see when and why hua cheng chose that name for himself. The new tgcf ending song kinda hints at its meaning with the lyrics "for you I'd fill a city of flowers" as xie lian is the flower wielding martial god so it's probably inspired by that. Also xie lian saved hua cheng from leaping off the city walls but I'd love to hear him say it bc the implication of his name didnt dawn on me for quite a bit and I dont know if everyone made the connection. Again I sure as hell didnt. So itd be cool to see a chapter that takes place in his past after just ascending as a supreme

Overall I rlly think tgcf had a lot more potential to be even better and a lot of that comes down to fleshing out the side characters and letting hualian have more of a storyline independent of one another. like i know the appeal and message of tgcf is that through love, people can overcome anything, but fuck man. i just wanna see what these two (mostly hua cheng) where like in the absence of each others presence. Part of what I really liked abt mdzs is that we got to see that longing develop btw wangxian when the two weren’t together and how they thought about each other and did things in thei others spirit bc they knew the other wouldve done the same thing. but whatever, mxtx was too consumed by her own unhealthy idea of what devotion and true love looks like but still. i rlly think the extras couldve helped the story be better rather than be fujoshi fuel that i try to bleach from my mind -_-

until he fell in love 

or so he thought 

he was strumming his guitar at choir practice 

sitting at the side while the nun yelled at the girls, a usual day at the church

and he looked up at the sound of the doors opening and saw her

immediately he’s fascinated by things he’s never cared about before 

it was like just the flutter of her lashes made him swoon

poor unsuspecting Joshua Hong, didn’t he know what compulsion was 

for a month after, people said he changed 

he quit choir and began chasing after this one girl 

as were many other men, as they were all too blinded by the compulsion to realize, him included 

but she liked him best, it was the only explanation, because why else would she

he remembers that night, dressed in a tux as her date to one of the many balls she was invited too

being pulled into one of the many secluded rooms by the tug of her nimble fingers on his tie 

feeling the soft touch of her lips 

feeling the pain of her teeth sinking into his bottom lip

she seemed to take great amusement in watching him pull back in horror 

she bit down on her own lip, hard

he watched, horrified as the blood dripped from her lips while she smirked

and she kissed him again in his frozen state

next thing he knew he was laying on his bed with a terribly sore neck 

left with only a short, vivid scene of her baring her fangs and wrapping her hands around his neck 

she was gone and so was the compulsion

he looked into the mirror, ran his hands over the puncture wounds on his neck, and hissed at the pain of a new set of teeth growing

it didn’t take long for him to realize he needed to escape town 

it also didn’t take long for him to meet another vampire

Choi Seungcheol offered him an understanding smile and handed him a ring 

from then on, he was with Seventeen 

becoming a vampire killed any belief Joshua had in god

he was even the ‘I've read the entire bible five’ type, but then again what else was there really to do

there wasn’t much he could say about the topic now, the evidence was clear 

however, his knowledge made him the absolute perfect candidate for his role in Seventeen

because where there’s a small, close-knit town, there’s a church

prominent members of the community reside in the church 

and they know all the dirty secrets

all he was to do was wiggle his way into the church slowly as the young, pleasant man offering to play the guitar during mass 

getting along with all the kids

become the major’s kid favorite 

shaking hands with the major as he grins ‘shyly’ when the major dotes on how much the kid loves him 

sly, sly Joshua 

his job, primarily, is to make sure none of the town leaders catch on to the recent rise in animal deaths 

and that no other vampires left any loose ends or some people suspicious

and especially make sure as hell there aren’t any vampire hunters

so he’s at choir practice with a guitar at his side, smiling softly at the nostalgic sight of the kids singing

til he smells a familiar scent in the air and turns to see Jun

“What are you going here?”

smiling brightly, Junhui points, “the kid my girl babysits gets to play this weekend” 

“she’s adorable” Joshua looks to the little girl standing next to the piano bouncing on the balls of her feet 

“yeah I am,” Jun’s girlfriend buts in cheekily, “thanks Josh” 

he hums nonchalantly, “no problem” 

while the three of them settle to watch the practice, Jun leans in and whispers, “so any updates?” 

“one lady, she’s on the council and is always asks me about our living situation whenever we talk. it’s obvious she’s skeptical. I overheard her talking about the deer Vernon forgot to bury last week too”

“are you going to compel her to stop?” 

he shakes his head, “no, she’s been so adamant, it’ll be too suspicious if she suddenly stops caring” 

“what are we going to do?” 

he shrugs and gives a reassuring smile, “I’ll figure it out” 

later that evening, he finds himself at a council member’s dinner party 

the amount of dinner parties Joshua has been to is astonishing, it really felt like they had nothing better to do with their lives 

so in his dress shirt and slacks, he greets everyone with a shake of the hand or a polite hug

secretly wanting to just down ten glasses of champagne because that’s how utterly unlikable the council members are

managing to escape, he finds himself in one of the many hallways of the mansion and spots a lone figure 

Joshua watches as you examine the picture frames in close detail, as if you were looking as to see what color shoes each person was wearing 

slowly, he takes light steps towards you, standing behind to take a look at the frames himself 

you feel a strange sensation, like that unexplainable feeling that you’re being watched

so you turn your head

“Jesus fuck!” 

you stumble a couple steps away from him

how could you not even hear his footsteps

despite your loud exclamation, he remains cool and only smirks 

“saying God’s name in vain?” he shakes his head mockingly 

you huff, gathering your composure, “I wouldn’t be if you weren’t being so creepy” 

seeing him simply shrug and turn back to the frames, you scowl

“who even cares about that anyways,” you mutter under your breath

“never said I did,” he smiles at you calmly

a very unmannerly snort rises from you, “geez you just keep getting creepier and creepier” 

he chuckles, “Joshua Hong, nice you meet you. you can call me Josh.”

how he hasn’t been the slightest put off by your unfriendliness, you don’t know

“Y/N L/N” 

for the first time, you take him in, finally noticing how insanely handsome he is

in fact, he seems perfect

seeing as you let a little bit of your guard down, Joshua asks, “so tell me about the pictures”

“if you really want to know, Joshua“ you tease, emphasizing the ‘ua’, “this is my family” 

he looks at your impassive expression, noticing the way your tone becomes lifeless when you talk about them 

“this is your house?” 

you smile bitterly, “yeah, it’s nice right?” 

shaking his head he exhales, “I don’t know seems kind of lonely” 

you eye him with a look of surprise and he laughs 

“I live with twelve other guys and I think that’s the only way you could fill a house like this” 

seeing you crack a smile, he grins triumphantly 

“twelve guys? that’s an odd arrangement” 

“it works” 

lifting his finger, Joshua points to one of the pictures, “where’s this at?” 

“the woods just outside of town, that’s my family and the major’s family camping, we go every year” 

finally getting to what he came here for, Joshua says, “you guys probably heard of all the animal deaths in the forest then huh” 

you sigh dramatically, “not you too, seems like the whole council is obsessed with it these days” 

“oh?” 

oh fuck

the chances of this town knowing about vampire seems very high

in a town where a couple families have been in control since forever, those families passed down the secrets

he’d have to ask Wonwoo for more history

“I can’t believe my parents are making me join the council, I don’t know what about turning twenty-one suddenly allows me to handle city politics” 

he makes a note of that and chuckles, “mmm yeah, seems more like a clubbing night instead of an inauguration”

you reach and nudge his arm naturally, “that’s what i’m saying!” 

“another thing also,” Joshua raises his brows amused and tilts his head towards the champagne glass in your hand

“what are you a saint,” you can’t help but smile, “okay holy one, take it from me” 

he almost bursts into laughter at the irony

simply just clinking your glass with his, his eyes sparkle with a playful gleam, “cheers” 

after getting your number, which you will never admit you happily gave him, you both start to talk

from daily conversations simply about each others day 

to both of you dying when the conversation leads somewhere completely random 

you honestly just think, like wow, when has your adult dating life ever been this successful 

but Joshua, when he first found out about you and your family, his only thought was how useful the information you had could be 

though he’s being honest with himself, you had him since that dinner party

not head over heels compulsion type of attraction

just your tough snarky demeanor, no doubt because of the way you were raised 

and the way it fell into a giggly mess meshed with sarcastic comebacks as if you weren’t just laughing your head off

and even if you pretend to be cold-hearted sometimes, you’re the first one to give someone directions or to pick up their fallen papers 

“clearly you like her” Jeonghan laughs, entertained by his close friend’s struggle

“I know that much” he chortles, “Y/n likes me too” 

“and you haven’t made a move because? there’s only so many coffee runs and choir practices you guys can use as an excuse” 

Joshua stares into the moon from his spot on the rooftop, realizing it must’ve past midnight by now 

“today is Y/n’s birthday, they’re going to tell her today” 

“well didn’t she invite you to her dinner party?” 

his lips twitch remembering you ranting about it to him, complaining about the formalities of it all, how you really didn’t want all the council members and their snotty kids, no matter how cute, at your twenty-first birthday

you had reached over and tapped his arm, letting your hand graze against him, “looks like it’s your job to make it worthwhile” 

arriving at your mansion, he’s dressed in his best suit and clutching a bouquet of flowers

he can smell your distinct perfume getting closer and closer to the door and smiles softly when you pause in front for a few moments

you’re feeling just as nervous as he is

“Josh” you greet, finally taken to calling him by his nickname

“you look lovely” he says warmly

he reaches for your hand, bringing it up his lips tenderly and presses a kiss

eyes never leaving his, you breathe deeply

“old-fashioned” you mumble, hoping your twenty-one year old self isn’t seriously blushing right now

“i prefer romantic but you’re the birthday girl” 

you glare at him playfully, “hey only i’m allowed to be cheeky today” 

he lets you lead him around the house, pointing out all the elaborate decorations your parents had set up

he really tries his best to pay attention, but the entire time all he can focus on is how he’s going to break the news of being a vampire to you

for a moment he even thought he could hear his heartbeat but stupid, his heart doesn’t beat

you ended up giving him a tour of the entire house with the pool as your last stop

grabbing his hand, successfully sending sparks up his arm, you lead him outside

he doesn’t let go 

“at least the weather is pretty today” you hum, purposely not talking about your hand in his

“looks like the guests are starting to come” 

you both can hear the sound of guests chattering and expensive cars beeping

“just let me be alone with someone a like for a moment” 

before he can show you any type of reaction you let out a tiny giggle, and use your intertwined hands to tug him closer to you

“do you like me too?” your eyes hold a teasing glint, already knowing the answer

“yes, i do like you” Joshua says firmly

you become serious at his sincere and determined expression 

“so what have we been waiting for?” 

Joshua sighs, unknowingly gripping your hand tighter

“I feel like I should tell you something first, and if it doesn’t work, I need you to forget it” 

“okay”

there were other ways where this could’ve gone smoother, but this information never is smooth anyways

“I’m a vampire”

he watches you cautiously, hoping he wouldn’t have to compel you to forget, because that would really mess with his heart

your serious expression falls into a blank one and he almost isn’t sure that it’s you gripping his hand tighter or the other way around

you let out a shaky laugh, “since when were you so dramatic” 

“what-” 

you cut him off, “that was a bit easier to process than i thought” 

 “than you thought?“ he questions incredulously

“Josh, I found out about vampires when I was 16. I was a pretty sneaky teen so do you know how funny it was for me to pretend this was new information this morning to my parents?” you grin mischievously, ignoring his dumbfounded expression

“so what about me?” 

“you Joshua Hong,” you tap him on the nose, “aren’t as subtle as you think, I’m just smarter than you I guess” 

recovering from his surprise he smirks, “all this time, I was worried about you feeling betrayed, but now I do” 

he pulls you closer, letting the hand not holding yours fall on your waist 

you roll your eyes and stare up at him, realizing how utterly smitten you are with him

“just kiss me already, and please no fangs”

matcha latte (!!!) and the second time i met him (which was 2 weeks after), he remembered my order which was really nice and unexpected. also, i was with my friend that day, and i offered some yam chips (in a container) to another female collegue (since i am more used to seeing her, and also because i’m kinda shy to give him). he came to the table and gave back my container, and had a very small talk, in which he offered us drinks/ice cream but we declined. after my friend left, i continued studying and suddenly, he came to collect my cup which i was going to say thank you, but to my surprise, he placed another new cup of matchalatte for me!! i was shocked and didn’t know what to do so i just mouthed a thank you to him. at this point, my heart is already melting, considering this is the first time anyone has offered me a drink like this. we also said bye when he left. our third encounter: the next day, in which he came but i don’t think he had work. he sat at the chair in front of my table, but i was so HORRIBLY SHY that i didn’t look up that much. i have no idea if he was looking at me or not but it remained like this for about (more than) 5 minutes long?? after that, he went to stand near my table and said “no matcha latte today?” so i replied “yea mocha today” !!!! but we were interrupted by the female collegue who said “haha you talking to customer ah” *in chinese* but in like a jokingly manner. then i think the situation got shy and he said no in chinese once again and then we bid farewell :c. it was such good memories and i never met him after that, and i thought i never will. the only info i had about him was that he’s a year older than me. i think i’m a person who falls in love quite easily haha, so i couldn’t stop thinking about it for quite a while. fast forward to jun 14, i signed up for a school camp (i usually don’t go to camps) with 2 of my friends. it was a camp with 5 different schools. as time passed on during the first day,i couldn’t help but notice this guy felt familiar?? i kept noticing the way he talked, the way he walked, and it hinted me that it mIGHT be him ?? IT WAS REALLY HIM! aaaa but we got interrupted again, and one person asked if we were cousins LOL.we didn’t manage to talk alot, but found out we’re in the same school??? but he’s year 3 while i’m year 2. once again, i was really amazed to meet him again such circumstances, and that we were in the same school all along?? i thought i would meet him sometime soon,,, but turns out i was wrong.. i didn’t have any contact of him and once again, as time goes by, i didn’t think much about him again. fast forward early to end jul-early aug, i signed up for a japan uni talk (once again, not something i usually go for but somehow did). on that day, i was thinking about how long i’ve never met café guy but was happy cause i’m over it. but life decides to (idek what life is trying to do to me) bring him back into the picture again! i was waiting for my friend when i suddenly saw this familiar looking guy, i only saw him walking two steps (he’s blocked by a pillar) and i had a gut feeling that it might be him. but this time he was wearing glasses and his hair is short now. after seem peaking around here and there, it turns out it really was him??!?! at that point of time, i was very shy and awkward, it was hard for me to say hi or anything, i was just freaking out. to sum up that day, i basically didn’t manage to say hi to him (regrets :cc). but my friend, managed to find a mutual friend of both of us’s instagram. i went to follow him and found café’s guy instagram eventually!! to sum up, i eventually used my main account to follow him, in which he followed back ( that was like almost a 3 day process uwu). also, i dropped huge hints to lowkey scream *i’m the matcha latte i hope u remember me!!!* aaaa he dm-ed me and ask if im the matcha latte girl!!! we talked abit (not alot really) and (yesterday) he said he’s working but at another chain of the café (which is about 3 mins walking distance to the café i met him & usually go to). he asked what time i was leaving, and since i was meeting my friend, i said around late 5 to 6. he then said his break was only at 6plus, so i thought maybe i can wait a little longer to catch him (but i was a little afraid to meet him as well haha) i was going to pack my bag when he came!!! he immediately came to my table and talked to me!!! but my friend called me so i had to pick up, when it ended, he came back to my table again and we talked for about 20mins?? it was nice talking to him (some context: my mind usually goes blank when making conversations with people!!! >u

where weak-hearted Jun signed up for a horror film class on a dare but you signed up to nap

Analysis of Modern Horror Films is the easiest class for anyone who wants to knock out the required cultural credit

It’s 6 hours once a week, and class lecture consists of watching one movie and a short analysis at the end of class wow it’s literally The Easiest class for nappers and busy non-liberal art kids who just want an easy A

And that’s why you’re here, your pre-med major literally sucks the life out of you and this is the perfect time slot to take a quick nap in the back corner

Except.. it’s not that easy

The dark and cold auditorium is the perfect environment, yes, but the sound system works a bit too well, and even though you’re a heavy sleeper it sometime gets too loud you wake up 20 minutes into a nap and couldn’t go back to sleep

On such a day you usually just sit and watch the movie since there’s not enough light for you to crack open your books and study

That day “The Conjuring” was shown, and you didn’t think this movie was super scary the first time you watched it but the guy sitting 2 seats from you certainly did

For the whole ten minutes where there was silence building up to the jump scare, the guy had his hands over his eyes and both of his legs pulled towards his body

The hood of his hoodie all the way stringed up so only his nose and eyes were visible

Also it’s kind of strange because you’ve never seen anyone all the way up at the top where you sit, it’s usually just you and another (probably premed) kid napping away the hours

Anyway, you watched the guy for the whole ten or so minutes and it’s super amusing bc he flinches at every single little noise but kept watching it through the gaps between his fingers

You got curious so you move to sit next to him and you wait for the jump scare and then you just.. poke his arm when the jump scare happens

I kid you not the guy jumped so high up in his seat and, since his legs were already drawn up, almost tumbled and fell over

But you caught his shoulders like a ninja right before he fell so you technically saved him from hitting his head on the seat in front

Even though it was because of you that he fell over

The guy turns and looks at you in horror

“sorry sorry I just wanted to scare you a bit,” you mumbled an apology between quiet breaths of laughter, both surprised and impressed that he didn’t scream

But the guy, instead of getting mad, clutched your hands and in a low, shaky voice asked if you could hold his hands until the movie finishes

And you’re still laughing, but a bit taken back

Usually you find skinship bothersome, but today.. you feel kinda bad for scaring the poor guy so you agree

For another hour you sit in darkness as the boy duck his head and occasionally squeezes your hand so tight you were sure there would be marks (and there were)

At the end of class the light goes back on and as usual the professor told the class to write a reflection and turn it in at the back door

Now, this is when you expect him to let go of your hand because the movie is over and, well, you have a reflection to write

Not that you need your right hand since you’re left-handed

But you’re also not gonna play bff and stay for the aftermath to comfort him

“J-just a few more minutes,” he takes a deep breath and swallows, “please.”

Now that the lights are on and you can see his face, he’s pretty cute

aNYWay you’re not kind enough to lend a shoulder to a total stranger but he honestly looked so shaken up he might pass out if he tries to stand up

So.. you think of it like helping a small animal

“I’m Jun, by the way. What’s your name?”

Honestly there really was no need for introduction as you were sure you’d never sit here again, but you conceded, partly to calm him bc you can feel the shakiness in his voice

Then Jun apologizes, something like this is the first time you’ve meet and he looks like a total loser

But you shake your head like no no it’s fine lol

And you catch a glimpse of the quick relief that spread across his face. Wow this guy is really good looking–

“Why do you take the class if you can’t stand horror films?” You managed to ask before the blood rushes to your face

At this he seems to hesitate, clearing his throat as he regains his composure

“I did it on a dare.”

um

“Just go ahead and laugh,” Jun broke into laughter as you epically failed to hide yours

He signed up for 6 hours a week of something he hates.. bc of a dare

Is he stupid or is he stupid–

“Sorry, I just.. it’s not everyday you meet someone signing up for a class they absolutely hate on a dare. Have you attended every lecture until now?”

Jun nodded a yes and you starts feeling some sort of respect for his bravery

He said something along the line of bringing ear plugs and secretly listening to music during class but to no avail, he always ends up covering his face with muffled scream because nothing had worked until today when he held your hand

This entire time you’re talking to the guy his hand still clutches to yours, and for the first time you feel slightly bashful about that huge small fact

As the both of you finishes the reflection, you said goodbye and left first since you have another class right after this

But Jun just looks at you after you left like you’re the most peculiar human he’s ever seen

“First of all, she didn’t know who I was”

Chan looks at Jun in disbelief, his mouth stops chewing the fish cake he was having for lunch

“What do you mean?? She doesn’t know Wen Junhui astrophysics and dance double major president of the school’s track team?”

“Isn’t that better?” Jihoon chimed in, taking a sip of his dark black coffee, “a clean slate. You hate people who only only sees you for your looks anyway.”

“I don’t hate them,” Jun clarified. It’s just that he finds it hard to connect with someone on an emotional level when all they care about is his outer appearance and reputation

But Jihoon’s words gave him something to think about

So the next time he saw you in class, you were in a different corner than where you usually were, so he went over and sit himself next to you and try to strike conversation

And at first you’re like.. who are you again?—ok just joking, but seriously why are we talking again lol

But he keeps trying every time to talk to you that eventually you just gave up

Talking and being next to you makes Jun feel a bit calmer in horror film class

Even though he still jumps every now and then, and you still scare him every now and then for your own amusement

Jun doesn’t mind it though, he loves interacting with you

Your personality is quite similar to his friend Jihoon— straightforward, a bit shy and silly, extremely unbothered sometimes but can be warm and engaging once your attention is focused on something or someone

And once that someone is Jun you give him your full attention because you’ve never met someone that responds to you with so much warmth

Even when he receives full attention anyway from the stares of girls and guys alike, nothing makes him feel as important and appreciated when it’s you

Sometimes he lay awake at night, unable to fall asleep, but when he does he’d wake up in the middle of the night and his thoughts would wander to you

Jun didn’t realize he was falling for you until one afternoon at a coffee shop, when Jihoon had played him a demo of a self-composed track, Run To You, and at that moment Jun had never wanted to see anyone else so badly

And as you’re walking to your last class at 2pm in the hot afternoon, in the distance you see Jun

He’s running towards you and jumping over fences and side-stepping so many people

He’s running so fast he almost tripped over a pot of plant around the corner and you gasped because be careful!!

And he makes you laugh again and again, like that time he was drinking water and a scary scene jumps out so he choked and coughed for a good ten minutes he almost had to leave class for making so much noise

Or that time you study together for a midterm and the both of you fell asleep against a bookshelf in the library but stupid Jun’s Attack on Titan alarm went off so loUD you woke up and bumped heads against the shelf

And a few books fell down but Jun shielded you so he got hurt instead, yet he was still smiling and laughing like an idiot

the many times he unintentionally did something either dumb or cute, he makes you laugh, and you were sure you’d never laugh so much if not for Jun

Jun stops in front of you to catch his breath, eyes never once left yours

For the first time he wasn’t smiling when meeting you, instead there was something desperate in his eyes

And in yours, too, perhaps, because in that moment you had realized how much he meant to you

“I have something to say,” he started between sharp takes of breath, “even if this doesn’t reach you, I—”

You don’t say anything to that, instead you pull his collar and kiss him

Jun is like!!! he can’t believe

With everyone staring

And from that day on you two are known as the campus power couple

But he can’t stop bc you’re adorable and you rarely initiate skinship with him in public but when you initiate to hold hands his heart leaped and he’s the happiest man in the world

Surprisingly, I think you did cover most of the dramas you listed! The other ones you were missing were just My Beautiful Bride, Heard it Through the Grapevine and When the Weather is Fine.

The Red Sleeve is the main thing on your favs list that is on my watch list. I think when it aired I didn't watch it cause apparently it will end in tragedy, and I wasn't ready for that type of drama at that time, but then gif-watching it was fun, especially during the eps with Deok-im still Hated the prince? (I saw the gif of her throwing rice at his face and just generally talking shit about him and I laugh each time) Also, I loved the actress for Deok-im from The Crowned Clown, so that's another reason I know I need to watch this some day. I'm interested to see the relationship dynamic you talked about between the leads when I do watch.

this week is certainly better, my stepdad had a successful surgery and we're all fine now. thank you! my plan for the weekend is to enjoy my last bit of freedom before uni starts again.

ohhh so my memory isn't that bad, huh? i do think i have at least 20 dramas i love dearly, so this is always hard.

my beautiful bride is better than heartless city? idk, some people in here would kill me if i say yes, but i can't ever choose. but what i love the most about the show is how devoted bank ahjussi is to his fiance, and the partnership between him and lee si young's character, they're so GOOD together, i'm dying to see them in grid. the fact that the drama has high stakes romance, a lot of action, 1 competent cop, and the most amazing romantic lead out there... it is very good, even if by ep12 started dragging a bit. it is also very fun and has an ending that didnt break my heart like hc.

hittg is kinda like a family drama but high budget and directed by an pan seok, so it has rich people being awful, but a lot of the times they're being humiliated and it is so fun. the satirical side of the show is on point, go ah sung and lee joon are great together, their baby is so cute, all of the side characters are truly spectacular. gong seung yeon stole my heart in this alongside kim kwon. i feel like it's a clever way to poke fun at the rich while making them compelling characters and not only caricatures. this is yu jun sang and yoo ho jeong show, but everyone else is amazing in it. the ost is perfect. the direction is very good too, like any APS show is very beautiful to look at and i need to rewatch it!!

ive watched WTWIF last year and the first 5 episodes didnt actually bore me to death but made me want to die. it was so hard, pmy is so skinny in the beginning, but not her as much as her character, idk how to explain, but she looks like she's dying. and you see her transformation in the 16 episodes and by the end of the show she looks like a real person. alive. seo kang joon is so sweet in here, the guy of anyone's dream, he's shy, he is caring he is hurt by others constantly. and i like how the story takes it time with each character and nothing feels rushed and the winter starts to feel cozy instead of threatening. then the sisters' relationship is so difficult, and those three women too... it is very good, and im so happy i didnt stop after ep5.

deok im and san were so precious as teens! i totally get why a lot of people didnt like them during the second part of the show, but ngl, i love some tragedy and messed up people. if you're going to watch it beware it gets pretty dark at some points. lee se young is EVERYTHING, apparently, she plays soccer? amazing. showstopping. i watched a lot of weird things bc of her, she was in vampire detective with lee joon, which! awful show, a galaxy brain duo, they should be a couple soon.

-Ok once the boys start going off on their own more, like once they’re comfortable traveling by themselves

-Coups goes long periods of times where he constantly travels, and then long periods of times where he doesn’t jump at all

-No one’s really sure why he doesn’t go more exciting places, but he just usually doesn’t 

-He won’t admit it, but it’s purely because of how sentimental he is

-Like he just loves going back to the near past and looking back at how everything used to be

-He’s a big fan of even going back to see his younger self and the other members just to watch them all live

-He gets really cheesy and gushy about knowing how happy and successful they’ll all be someday

-He just comes back to the present acting like he went back just to take awful photos of the members in their awkward stages

-And then he like really looks at you

-And he just thinks “wow they’re really cute”

-And you’re just flustered cuz a handsome boy is over here blushing as he apologizes to you

-And then he’s cringing internally cuz he just asked you out and you literally met .2 seconds ago and it was only because he ran into you

-You were just gonna tell him it was fine

-You were rushing home to finish a paper due later that day

-And you knew you were just gonna fall asleep if you didn’t drink any coffee

-So he happily nods his head and walks with you into to the coffee shop you had literally just come out of before he ran into 

-And Coups just kind of sits there all embarrassed as you order, because obviously everyone in there had seen what had happened

-They take awhile to make you another coffee 

-So both of you are just sitting there 

-And you decide to strike up a conversation because

-This guy could have been a total jerk and just run off after he ran into you

-And he was waiting with you to make sure you actually got your coffee

-So you two start talking

-And something just clicks

-Like that moment you meet someone and know that they’re easily going to become your friend

-You feel that with Coups like immediately

-And hey, he gets your number 

-And then you guys just become best friends

-You guys are always with each other when it’s possible

-You tell each other everything

-You have the same kind of humor so you always crack each other up

-You guys just work well together

-Except

-There’s one problem spot

-Coups just disappears sometimes

-Sometimes it’s not that big of a deal

-Like he’ll go hours without texting you

-And you’ll just shrug it off, cuz hey he’s probably at practice

-And then other times it’s a full day

-And once again you just tell yourself he’s really busy, he’s an idol after all, he can’t dedicate all his time to you

-But then sometimes it’s more than one day

-And you get kind of worried

-Like what is he even doing

-You try not to get overly upset or really mention it

-But it is distressing when you ask him about it and he doesn’t even have a real excuse

-You try not to argue with him but occasionally you’ll make a sassy comment on it to express your displeasure 

-He just tells you not to get upset, to trust him cuz it’s not that big of a deal

-So for awhile you stay mostly quiet about it, just to see if anything gets worse

-And it does

-He disappears for like a whole week

-Bc sometimes Coups isn’t great at timing his jumps to appear back moments after he left

-But like, you’re a wreck 

-Cuz your best friend is just gone for a whole week

-You don’t hear from him or anything about him

-He’s just... gone

-So when he gets back

-Boy are you mad

-Like wow you’ve never yelled at someone before

-But you finally did

-You didn’t want to

-And you felt guilty about it

-But you were so worried about him

-”Seriously Seungcheol, anything could’ve happened to you”

-”[Y/N]”

-”I mean it, what was I supposed to think?”

-”[Y/N]”

-”I get that you’re busy and I shouldn’t expect constant attention from you, but not even one text the entire week?”

-And then you’re crying

-Because this was a tipping point for a lot of your emotions to come flooding out

-And Coups just feels the weight of the world on his shoulders

-He’s always felt kind of guilty for not telling you, and making you worry like this

-And you just look at him all confused as he takes your hands

-And then suddenly

-You are not where you were a second ago

-You’re in some random field

-And then suddenly Seongcheol is just yelling

-Because you’re now hitting him cuz honestly what kind of dark magic is this boy using to do what he just did

-And then you bolt

-And Coups’s heart just drops

-Because shit, y’all are in the 1800s and if he can’t find you, you’ll be stuck here

-So he chases after you 

-He finally catches up to you

-It doesn’t take him and his long legs very long

-He just holds you there as he explains everything

-And you just gotta sit there for a long while

-You gotta process what’s going on, where you are, and how badly Coups managed to handle it all

-”Like I know that there probably isn’t a guide book for you time travelers, but a warning would be nice BEFORE you just randomly take people back in time”

-”Note taken”

-Once you’ve kind of calmed down you look around you, hoping that being more familiar with your surroundings will help more with your nerves

-”Where are we anyways?”

-”Late 1800s, in a field a picked specifically for you”

-Your sarcasm appears

-”Wow you picked out a field, how... incredibly kind of you Seungcheol”

-He rolls his eyes and turns you around

-As he’s turning you, you’re thinking “I mean this field does seem oddly familiar, like I feel like I’ve definitely seen it before”
