When Sasuke is traveling and he wants to talk to someone but doesn't want to bother his family, he summons Aoda. The first time he did that, the snake was so confused because he didn't feel any danger. It was the first incident that he was called by anyone just to talk about random things. Sasuke, on the other hand, didn't expect that Aoda is actually sensible and would respond wisely to his musings. From then on, it became a habit for Sasuke to summon him. He'd rather talk to his beast friend than to annoying, judgmental people.

Sasuke: Summoning jutsu!

Aoda: *appears* Lord Sasuke, your desire?

Sasuke: I hope I didn't disturb your night, Aoda.

Aoda: Not at all. It's Aoda's pleasure to be summoned by Lord Sasuke.

Sasuke: *nods*

Aoda: So, Lord Sasuke is traveling again.

Sasuke: Yes..

Aoda: Traveling is a weird concept to us. The whole family stays in one den. We only go out when we're summoned.

Sasuke: Yeah. I remember when Sarada was very young.. She probably doesn't remember.. But she asked me about it too.

Aoda: Ah, Lady Sarada.. Even snakes don't have a good memory.. What did she ask Lord Sasuke?

Sasuke: She asked.. 'Papa, why do you travel so much?' During that time, I was only going from our house to another place in the village. But she calls that traveling.

Aoda: The world is bigger in a youngling's eyes.

Sasuke: That's true. But on that day, I was going to leave the village for a long time. She repeated the question.. As if I didn't hear it the first time.

Aoda: And what was Lord Sasuke's answer?

Sasuke: I told her that I had to go to protect her and Sakura.. And the village.

Aoda: Lord Sasuke's intentions are pure but hard to grasp even for Aoda.

Sasuke: I know.. She asked me again.. 'Papa, if I'd be strong like you and like Mama.. If I'm strong enough to protect myself, will you stay here for good?'

Aoda: That's a logical question.

Sasuke: Yeah, but you know it's not as easy as that, Aoda.. It was very hard for me.. I continued packing my things. I pretended I didn't hear her because— Because..

Aoda: Because you wouldn't be able to leave.

Sasuke: Right. And just last week, we were able to talk about it again.

Aoda: About that same question?

Sasuke: Yeah. But this time, I was the one who wanted to talk about it. I wanted to apologize.

Aoda: I haven't heard Lord Sasuke apologize to anyone.

Sasuke: You said your memory is not that good..

Aoda: Fair point. Go on.

Sasuke: But before I could even start, she went 'Papa, I understand. I could see your sacrifices and I know you also suffered much. We are shinobi. As sad as it might be for the younger me, you just did what you were supposed to do.'

Aoda: Lady Sarada is wise like his father.

Sasuke: I don't think she takes after me on that aspect but.. Yeah. She's very wise for her age.

Aoda: A wise offspring is very ideal.

Sasuke: *nods*

Aoda: I hope that lifted some guilt from Lord Sasuke's absence in Lady Sarada's earlier years.

Sasuke: It did. I should've talked to her about it sooner.

Aoda: I agree but you still did good. As expected from you.

Sasuke: Thanks for thinking highly of me. I think highly of you too.

Aoda: My pleasure. I consider Lord Sasuke, Lady Sakura, and Lady Sarada as snakes. As familial relations, I mean.

Sasuke: *smiles* I appreciate that.. So.. Aoda.. Tell me about your new offspring.

Aoda: Gladly..

I do actually want to write more here than just things about the Sphere of Protection, but that's where I am in my journey right now.

I'm currently in the middle of moving and having my landlord make a plethora of questionable and downright immoral moves on us and our living situation, and these next few days are going to be very busy trying to finish my last days of work, moving things, packing things, avoiding the people moving in literally on top of me while we are trying to move out (days before our move date. months before our lease ends.) So things are very hectic.

however, I'll be in my home town and home ecoregion by the end of this week!! once things settle down i plan to submit for my AODA membership and get out on some deeply loved and heavily missed trails in my area :) Hopefully I'll have quite a bit more to post about when things settle down.
