A continuation of my Archeologist AU (9)!
“House arrest? I’m on house arrest?“
“Okay Mr. I’m going to go out in the hottest time of the desert without telling anyone and get heatstroke! Look in the mirror! You don’t look good! House arrest is light, you should be sent back on that plane and to a hospital—“
“I was trying to find a lead you insufferable—“
“Oh man,” drawls one of the nurses. “This is just like listening to my parents get divorced all over again.”
It’s almost comical how quickly the medical tent descends into silence.
“Well hello there, I didn’t see you come in!” Says Scar, trying to cover whatever embarrassment shows on his cheeks.
The nurse laughs in good fun, moving across the space in a few long strides to Grian’s bedside.
The medical tent is small, white tarp for the tent and for the floor, and it’s mostly used to keep their medical supplies more than anything. It’s kept cool when any of its two cots are in use though, and Grian needs to keep cool after the stunt he pulled.
The nurse tells Grian as such, and Scar gives him a Look as staying put is emphasized in the rundown.
Scar knows all of this information. He makes sure he listens anyway.
The nurse eventually leaves them alone after making Grian basically swear on his life to stay inside.
Scar sits back down at his bedside.
“Why did you do that, G?” He asks, keeping his voice soft. He has to be gentle, or Grian’ll get defensive. More defensive.
“I don’t know, Scar,” he says, and Scar nearly slumps with the relief that his friend is talking.
“I just—“ He makes a frustrated noise and runs a hand through his hair. He looks… oddly close to tears.
Scar gives him a hand, and he holds onto it like a lifeline.
“What happened?” He prompts.
Grian’s face falls, and Scar can’t figure out why.
“Nothing,” he mutters, and maybe Scar’s heart breaks a little. “Felt like I was going a little insane, I think.”
There’s a secondary touch on his hand nearly scaring him out of his skin, and he finds Grian holding onto him with both hands.
“I’ll be fine, Scar, just… don’t go near any explosives.”

To Find What is Lost (Treasure Hunter AU)
Dr. Yuuri Katsuki and his husband, world renown treasure thief Viktor Nikiforov, were internationally famous for hunting down, and successfully finding, mythical cities and lost  legends. Treasures washed away by history and degraded to nothing more than wives tales. Given, they didn’t exactly do it legally.
That was two years ago, before Viktor was killed.
Now retired from his treasure hunting days, Yuuri is supervising an archeological dig in Greece with his colleague, and close friend, Dr. Phichit Chulanont, while wishing for nothing more than his husband at his side. That all changes one late night when Yuuri gets a rather unexpected visitor at his door bringing the promise of treasure and adventure back into his life. Along with, of course, love.
Yuuri, Viktor, Chris, and JJ are in Bahir Dir, Ethiopia, tracking down important scrolls in a nearby monastery on an island in the middle of Lake Tana. Yuuri theorizes that the scholars in the Library of Alexandria rescued scrolls when Emperor Aurelian invaded Alexandria in 275AD. They then went inland, away from Roman soldiers, down the Nile to Cairo before travelling further down the Nile, taking the Blue Nile branch of the river and ended up in Lake Tana in what is now modern day Ethiopia.
While on the island, soldiers belonging to a private military company appear suddenly. The group, who don’t know why the soldiers have shown up or who has hired them, split up. Chris and Yuuri go one way, while JJ and Viktor go another.
Yuuri and Chris manage to escape back to Bahir Dir, however Viktor and JJ become trapped by the soldiers, where it is then revealed that JJ had hired them to kill Viktor, Yuuri, and Chris after the discovery of the scrolls so he could have all the fame and money afterwards. JJ then shoots Viktor, ‘escapes’ the island back to Bahir Dir, and tell Chris and Yuuri that Viktor had been killed by the soldiers during their escape.
With the soldiers hot on their tails, Yuuri and Chris are forced to leave Bahir Dir without going to look for Viktor.
Two years after the death of his husband, Yuuri agrees to assist his friend, Dr. Phichit Chulanont, on an archeological dig located on a small island off the Greek coastline called Tilos. Phichit has found a sea temple, supposedly dedicated to Poseidon, carved into one of the cliffs. During one of the days of the dig, Yuuri discovers an old shipwreck further down the coast. Along with his assistant, Yurio Plesetski, and Phichit, Yuuri investigates.
During their search of the ship, Yuuri discovers several areas marked with nine tick marks, the symbol of the Library of Alexandria. Each tick mark represents a muse. Yuuri reveals this to Phichit, who gets extremely excited, and Yuuri is quick to quell it, writing it off as a coincidence.
Yuuri goes to meet Yurio and Phichit at the Temple a couple of days after the shipwreck discovery. Yurio, who is a graduate assistant to Yuuri, discovers a mural on one of the Temple walls. The mural depicts Poseidon, on a chariot pulled by hippocampi, wielding his trident. He’s surrounded by his son, Triton, and his merpeople, who seemingly are following Poseidon into battle. A trident symbol is on the chariot Poseidon is riding, but it is upside down.
Upon further inspection, Yuuri finds the symbol can swivel and fixes the trident, which opens a secret door along the Temple wall. Hidden in the room are a bunch of ancient relics and, sitting among them, is a journal marked with nine slashes.
Phichit takes the journal back to their base camp and begins to translate its contents. Yuuri, an expert on the Library of Alexandria, completely avoids it. Since Viktor’s death, Yuuri gave up looking for the scrolls. He recognized that nothing was worth Viktor’s life and decided to retire from treasure hunting and concentrate on archeology.
Several days later, Phichit comes to Yuuri saying that the journal talks about scrolls taken from the Library of Alexandria to protect them from the Romans and that he wants to go looking for them. Yuuri, who has been down that path, attempts to talk him out of it.
A couple of days after Phichit’s discovery, Yuuri and Yurio return to the Temple to continue excavation, while Phichit continues to work on the journal. While Yuuri and Yurio are at the Temple, Viktor breaks into Yuuri’s office in the camp in an attempt to find the journal that Phichit is translating. During his breakin, Yuuri returns. When Yuuri enters the office, they are reunited and Viktor tells Yuuri what really happened in Ethiopia.
Two years before, Viktor was shot by JJ and then left for dead. However, Viktor was rescued by villagers in a nearby town. When he woke up, he had a severe case of amnesia and couldn’t remember anything. During his recovery, Viktor also develops an infection. While in recovery, he begins to slowly regain his memory: fuzzy dreams, flashes triggered by everyday things, and, eventually, a full recall when a villager shoots a wild boar. After his memory was restored, Viktor began to make his way back to Yuuri.
After listening to Viktor’s story, Yuuri recalls his own life changes, mainly that he gave up looking for the scrolls after Viktor’s death and began working at the University of Michigan. Just as Yuuri is finishing up, Phichit barges into his office to reveal that the journal he had been translating mentions the lost city of Atlantis.
The scholar, who wrote the journal, detailed the path they took from Alexandria: Beyond the Pillars, which alludes to what the Greeks called The Pillars of Hercules (i.e. modern day Gibraltar), when the Daughters of Pleione (Pleiades/Taurus) are on the East horizon, follow Hercules to go northwest into the Atlantic.
Phichit and Viktor both try to convince Yuuri to pursue the scrolls and Atlantis now that they have a piece JJ does not. Yuuri agrees and is now determined to find the scrolls once again, to both prevent JJ from selling the scroll on the blackmarket and to get revenge against him for attempting to take Viktor from him.
Phichit, Viktor, and Yuuri take leave from the dig and fly to Spain, to start at the Strait of Gibraltar. While in Spain, however, Yuuri spots Isabelle following them. After losing Isabelle, Viktor contacts Chris to rejoin their group and help them get out of Spain to escape JJ. Chris rents a boat for the group, who use it to sail to the Strait. Not long after, however, they discover Yurio on board, who is revealed to not only be Yuuri’s graduate assistant, but Viktor’s adoptive brother.
On the way to the Strait of Gibraltar, Yuuri and Viktor begin to reconnect after their traumatic separation.
After several hours of sailing and following the heading given to them by the journal, the boat finally comes upon an island. The island is decorated with ancient buildings, both ruins from the first Atlantis and intact buildings of the second Atlantis.
The group begins to search for the scrolls and where they might be hidden, but while they search JJ shows up.
Determined to find the scrolls before JJ reaches the island, Yuuri, Viktor, and Phichit stay to finish searching, while Yurio and Chris head back to the boat so they can make a quick getaway. The remaining trio traces the path described by the scholar in the journal, which leads them to an Atlantian palace.
Finally, after searching the palace, Yuuri finds the scrolls in the throne room hidden behind a mural similar to the one in the Temple. Just as he does, JJ and his men enter the palace and the two groups meet.
JJ takes the scrolls at gunpoint and then proceeds to lament about his plan. He reveals that he had planned to get rid of Viktor, keep track of Yuuri, knowing that eventually he’d find the scrolls, and take the credit when he did.
After he is done lamenting, JJ traps the trio in the hidden room and leaves with the scrolls. After several minutes, however, Yurio opens the door after remembering the mural at the Temple.  Together, they all avoid JJ’s men and meet up with Chris.
Reunited, the group go to chase down JJ and retrieve the scrolls. They work their way through Atlantis, fighting and sneaking, only, in the end, to see JJ’s boat return to the mainland. The group follows JJ and gets into a gun fight during the boat chase. During the fight, Yuuri and Viktor make their way onto JJ’s boat to retrieve the scrolls and JJ attacks Viktor. The two men lose their guns and JJ almost beats Viktor, but Yuuri picks up a nearby gun and threatens JJ. JJ, who calls Yuuri’s bluff, goes for the other gun before being shot by Chris from the other boat. The wound isn’t fatal and, with JJ and the crew subdued, they all head back to the mainland.
Two months after discovering Atlantis, Yuuri, Viktor, Phichit, Chris, and Yurio attend a banquet in their honor to celebrate them finding Atlantis and the scrolls, where it is revealed that JJ and Isabella went to jail for multiple accounts of attempt of murder and that the scrolls are to be on display at the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo after being translated. Also, Yuuri and Phichit have been asked to oversee the excavation of Atlantis.
Viktor and Yuuri are 100% retired from treasure hunting and currently live a happy, peaceful life with their dog, Makkachin, in St. Petersburg. Phichit still teaches at the University of Michigan, but is currently on holiday in the Caribbean and Chris, though his whereabouts are unknown, is suspected to be honeymooning in the Caribbean somewhere. What a coincidence. Yurio is continuing his studies in St. Petersburg underneath Yuuri and is currently dating a local boy named Otabek.
Life is good.
Then, one day, Yuuri gets a phone call from a colleague named Yuuko. She has a lead on one of the lost Imperial Faberge Eggs and is asking for Yuuri and Viktor’s help. Curious, the couple accept and set out on another adventure.

Oooh maybe Mafia and Balckmail for the ask game? With Elrond? Only of you feel like it, no pressure or anything.
[send me 1-3 tropes + 2-3 characters!]
Elrond opened his eyes and saw what should have been an unused surgery room. The plaster on the walls was broken, the pipes in the ceiling were exposed—it was the east wing of the hospital, roped off for renovations that had been "in progress" the entire time he'd been a med student here.
But there were lights on, tools laid out, a patient on the surgery table in front of him—no, a body. That woman was fresh from the morgue, her body bag discarded in the corner. Other bags (full? empty?) lay on the floor nearby. On the counter by the sink was a stack of portable freezer boxes.
"Oh, you're organ-harvesting," Elrond said. That did explain the pattern of missing and mutilated corpses.
There was a clatter behind him as his captor startled at his words. Elrond did tend to wake up unusually quickly—though really, who wouldn't, when handcuffed to an uncomfortable hospital chair?
Dr. Inglewood regained her dropped scalpel held it as a threat as she stalked into view.
"Yes," she said. "But if you know what's good for you, you'll keep quiet about it—or whatever dismal neighborhood your scholarship affords rent in will have another random mugging-gone-wrong, and I'll make a mint off of the fresh organs of a caucasian male age 18 to 35." She sneered. "With your 'family connections', nobody will even blink."
Elrond wiggled his wrists in his handcuffs. They were tight.
"They probably wouldn't," he admitted. "And I like all my organs where they are."
"Smart boy—"
The magnetic lockpick Elrond had tucked into his cuff earlier clicked through the pin on the cuffs. Without losing a second, he leapt up and swung the loose cuffs at Dr. Inglewood's head. She dodged by stumbling back, squawking with alarm. In her distraction, Elrond swept her knees out from under her, grabbed her scalpel, flipped it around and put it to the nape of her neck while he knelt and wrestled her arms up behind her back.
He said, conversationally, "But I don't really think you're thinking through the implications of 'kidnapped and raised by the Fëanorian Mob' either. Ma'am, you are not dealing with an amateur."

X’s relationship with the Casketts cause important reasons.
Barrel Casket
It’s sort of complicated on one hand he owes Barrel for taking him in when he found him in nino ruins. Helping him and the guardians to be registered as citizens and the guardians signing up as Diggers (and boy do they have to make the most eleborate story of how the fuck him and the guardians are Volnutt’s family without revealing some…sensitive information) But on the other hand Volnutt isn't really considered a part of the Casketts. He’s just an apprentice so the boy never felt or experienced what it's like to be a part of a family. He respects the old man, having long conversations about topics of archeology, Terra’s history and some philosophy, while having some tea. He sympathizes with him about what happened to roll’s parents and wishes him the best.
Barrel is one of the very few people on Terra that knows the truth about X and the Guardians. Especially X, he’s a literal walking piece of ancient history that dates back before everything! He would obviously ask him a lot about what the world was like before the floods. He answers with reluctance and others with a hard no, there are parts of history that are better off forgotten. But Barrel learned that there are parts of X’s life that he doesn’t want to bring up, so he eventually respected his privacy. On rare occasions X would ask Barrel for any information about Terra’s history and accompinate him on some of his expeditions as an assistant.
Roll Caskett
Being Volnutt’s best friend, he looks out for her as well. Like Volnutt, he mentors her, but in reverse engineering and ancient technology. He’ll often let her talk about how much she misses her parents and comfort her. They fucking love to technobabble when it comes to tech from different eras (Tron does eventually join in) so much that it looks like a whole other language. She reminds him a bit of Alia.
Absolutely gave her a scolding of a lifetime when he learned that she charges Volnutt ridiculous prices for upgrades, then gave her a lecture on the importance of teamwork and maybe selling her inventions to folks who might need them because, technically, she and Volnutt share the money, so he finds it completely unfair that he pays her. So yeah, since then, she just needs proper materials to make upgrades..

Greek mythology retellings that I like:
We updated this myth for a modern setting while keeping most of the story and major elements of the mythology intact
We made a story loosely based on or inspired by an old Greek myth, and we’re upfront about that
Greek mythology retellings that I don’t mind:
This is an adaptation for laypeople who have little familiarity with the subject matter, so we simplified some things out of necessity
This is an adaptation for children, so we kept it age-appropriate and handled the sexual/gory material in a non-explicit way
This is a ten-minute YouTube video that can’t possibly explain every tiny detail about this extremely complex topic, so we’re gonna stick to the basics
Greek mythology retellings that I loathe with every fiber of my being:
This is the Secret True Version of the original myth that historians have been hiding out of malice, and if anyone tells you otherwise they’re a liar who’s shilling for Big Archeology
The original myth was Wrong and Problematic and you’re Bad if you enjoyed learning about it, but don’t worry, I rewrote it to make it Good
I hate history, I hate reading, I hate the classics, and I especially hate ancient Greece. I did zero research whatsoever for this project and I have no respect for the source material or the field in general, and I’m very proud of that

A continuation of my Archeology AU (8)!
Morning comes with a headache and a choking gumminess in the back of his throat. And stars. Lots and lots of stars.
Not the starry kind, but the kind that comes from lucidity when you really, really shouldn’t be awake.
He’s still at the table, and the light filters through shattered fractals, ones that blur whenever he moves his eyes the slightest amount. He must’ve fallen back asleep.
His skin feels like it burns, like there’s a heat just beneath it that presses, expands. His next breath comes in shutters, his vision flickering through images like a faulty piece of film, to an endless blue sky to blinding sand, to the packed bricks, back to the wall he’d been staring at.
Click, click, click.
Nausea hits him hard. There’s nothing he can do on his own. Can’t even raise his head, and when he tries he’s met with sharp points of glass in his skull.
“Grian,” comes a call, urgent and distant and warped. He knows who it is. Who else could it be, at this point.
Click. Next.
He’s got grit beneath his nails, and his tongue is covered in grains. There’s a hand at his back, carefully scooping him up from the ground.
Click.
He’s holding a bucket of lava. It churns slowly, like honey like molten glass like a melted heart of gold and it doesn’t melt through its simple iron casing.
Click.
Ink stains his hands, and he’s writing by candlelight.
Click.
“What on earth were you doing?! We’re miles from the camp, you know better!” There’s no scene to accompany the audio, just the continuous whirring of static and ink falling from eyes.
Scar sounds scared, which is strange. He doesn’t really do scared.
Click.
It cuts to a choked scream, a hissing in the background, and he’s standing in a village with the world bleeding around him.
Click.
“I’m all for science and discovery.”
Click.
“I owe you my first life.”
Click.
“Can we still be—“
Click.
Grian wakes, the white, sloped canvas of the medical tent swimming into view. And he wakes with understanding caked to the back of his throat. The film is fine. It’s the camera that’s faulty.
He has no idea what it means.

lost memories au (working title) has been a thought project for a while now, yipee
basically:
- fantasy au using the our happy ending set
- rui and tsukasa wake up in a medical ward, both with no memory of...well anything. they're told they were found injured together
- they have no idea who the other is
- they soon realize the medical ward they're in is, uh...fancy. royalty fancy
- surprise surprise, their dumbasses got found and taken in by a princess
- she, along with her bodyguard, had been walking along the beach when they found two injured people. they probably would have died without her intervention
- the princess is emu ofc, as it usually goes. she's a free spirit that supports them throughout their tedious recovery.
- tsukasa actually isn't super bothered by the memory loss lmao. he's like "damn that sucks.... better make a new life for myself! getting my memories back randomly would be cool tho"
- rui....is different. his memory loss bugs him. but he doesn't even know where to begin to look. nothing about the kingdom sparks any memories for him
- nene is a mermaid. she eventually joins their group, and all four of them get into silly goofy adventures. if this was a show, there would be a semi serious subplot about rui trying to remember his past... but it'd mostly be goofy adventures
- eventually....years pass! rui stops looking for any hint of his past and focuses on the present. his lost memory becomes a footnote to the hijinks of his life
- they literally live a whole ass plot in those years. long story short, emu was suppressed by her royal family, and those three help her Not be. in turn, she helped them find healthy hobbies (tsukasa with cooking, rui with archeology)
- things go great! the two of them get a lot of life experiences, and grow from the wary people they were when they woke up in medical ward
-...things take a complicated turn when they run into tsukasa's old subordinates, though
- oh yeah, apparently tsukasa used to be a knight
- ....he really regrets not giving much thought about his past
