*Slowly slides a new ask idea thing*
... Ok, but like, like most inmates/patients in Arkham, Danny does not like Lyle Bolton (Batman: The Animated Series) at all, not when the man is blatantly abusing his power through (rather severe) punishments that end up setting back any sort of progress for anyone. Danny does his best to avoid most interactions with Bolton if he can.
Bolton, as the chief of security for Arkham, can respect Danny for not chickening out like most new hires during the first escape, but over time, as the man watches Danny seemingly perfect track record of no escapes while on duty along with him befriending the main rogues gallery especially, well, the man's suspicious of Danny.
Oh, and what's this? Cameras tend to Glitch and go static when Danny's nearby, especially during escape attempts. Bolton begins to grow wary and paranoid with Danny, so much so that, while most of the staff appreciate Danny, they all notice the blatant disrespect Bolton shows to him.
The longer Danny stays working at Arkham, the closer Bolton descends to becoming Lock Up. However, for this AU, his goal is simple. Locking Danny up in someway so Arkham stays intact and the prisoners stay where they're meant. After all, how else is this non-gothamite shrimp-looking kid able to cow the inmates to behave as they do? Bolton starts to believe Danny is allied with all the inmates and is doing the long-con of their inevitable escape and destruction of Arkham. Well, not under his watch!
He ends up somehow learning of the GIW and gain their sponsor of sorts, who fills him in about Danny being a person of interest and is to be detained and sent to their nearest lab immediately. As long as Danny's gone from Gotham, Lock Up will gladly help the GIW to keep the inmates in their cells till they rot. As they should be anyways.
Inmates notice Bolton's descent to seemingly madness and how he grumbles a lot about Danny. Not good. They grow protective of Danny. After all, despite how terrifying and creepy he may be, he's one of the very few who treat them well and respectfully. Like hell they'll let Bolton of all people try and hurt Arkham's favorite guard for any reason.
When the day Bolton manages to get his hands on Danny for GIW, a war might as well rain over Gotham now.
(Unsure if any of this makes sense anymore)
Now I don't know this Bolton but he sounds like a jerk. I wonder if he would try to get Batman in on his anti Danny campaign. Mabye even bringing the GIW into Bat's radar.
It could become extra angst if Batman believes the GIW lies and thinks they are in the right as a government organization, or be against them. Thinking the GIW runs a bit too close to anti meta campaigns.

That Arkham psychiatrist Jazz and guard Danny, but with Corpse AU, Eldritch!Ghost King, and Ghost!Gotham.
So Danny heard Jazz got a job she really wanted, visited the city she moved to, but suddenly felt someone or something call for him. Gotham asked his help to wake her from Slumber and Danny had to stay to help her so he applied as a guard. Cue Danny being the best guard Arkham has ever had.
But it just so happens that when he moved to Gotham Joker was already inside Arkham and when the clown broke out Danny was just getting settled and when Joker performed his latest crime, he's being dragged back to Arkham with a relatively established Danny who now patrols deeper in the building.
So first time Danny sees the clown he stops cold while everyone watches.
Joker is a tresspasser, unwelcomed in Gotham's city-state. Wait, no, Danny realize that Joker must've belonged once, but he was rejected by Gotham along the way. He doesn't really know and can't care about the specifics of what went down there but this thing isn't human and it must be contributing to poor Gotham's state. So Danny beelines to the Joker, and Danny is pretty harmless in his human guise, but then he starts shedding it.
"I am Phantom, invited here by Gotham herself, I belong here for as long as she will allow but you have outstayed your welcome and in my right as the Ghost King, you will be removed." And proceeds to devour it whole.
The rest of the rogues are silent.
Then Danny is back to his usual guise and the Rogues are relatively well behaved and Jazz is loving her job and making so much progress with the other psychiatrists without the Rogues repeatedly breaking out and coming back worse and rinse and repeat.
So, Corpse AU enters along the time the buzz of the new guard reaches the Bats. They interact with Danny as their vigilante persona, sometimes they cross paths as civilians, Gotham adores them. But Joker's disappearance is suspicious and everyone wants to look into it if nothing else because they need peace of mind and closure.
They pick up pieces here and there from the Rogues. So they now inch towards the supernatural genre and about this Ghost King. With their resources and their investigative might, they get the idea of its existence from the scientific community (which is its lack of mention except from a line or two here from two Dr. Fentons interesting that), the records from the Al Ghuls, and the interactions from the magic/supernatural community. I don't know how the realization goes down but Danny profess to his reason for staying, that he's heard the same voice they had to, and is just here to help Gotham. The Bats didn't think it was Gotham's voice or that it (her) even had a voice so that's a thing.
Danny confess to eating Joker. Bruce bristle at the blatant nonchalance at killing and says something about the idea of death may be different for them. Danny answers that he didn't kill the Joker, because killing the Joker wouldn't work because it'll just posses another suitable host, which probably had already happened multiple times, the malicious wraith one of the largest parasites on Gotham's own ectoplasm. Gotham probably voluntarily gave it a part of herself once upon a time and then it started taking and taking and Gotham realized too late. Or something like that.
Anyways, the kids and the Fentons get along swimmingly, Jason particularly pleased by their presence maybe for more than one reasons.
Then someone, probably Tim, I'm putting my bet on my nosy boy, realizes Danny is a ghost and Jazz is his sister and just one of those 'ghosts were alive once and he's definitely the alive before type so what happened' and looks to Amity records and it doesn't take much digging before he finds the case of Phantom. Or Phantom's ghost and his body.
And the ensuing investigation. And Phantom's own hand in the progress of the investigation, or rather his hand in stopping the progress.
It's up to you what the official records say, but one of my fave fics (that one with the relic and written from Maddie's perspective) os that Danny (or his body) was officially killed by Vlad.

Arkham Baby Danny
Danny was sent to Arkham Asylum after being found de-aged by a group of private Ghost Hunters.
The G.I.W. was smart enough not to touch him. It was very bad PR and similar, and they would have more problems from the public and similar and all the organizations who would attack them.
But these Ghost Hunters didn't think much about it; they would just send the "Meta" to Arkham until he was old enough for a buyer. It's not like among the crazy it would be something bad; they take care of him. until the lab is ready to cut him open and sell him.
Well, someone should tell the hunters that while the inmates are crazy, even they knew something was wrong. The ghost hunters had no idea, as the staff put them in Arkham as inmates too. The poor four Ghost Hunters were hated by inmates and staff alike and didn't survive the first few days.
While that time Danny formed an unlikely alliance with the inmates and still was planning his escape. True the inmates didn't fully understand him, but Freeze liked to show the child ice sculpture and Bane and rest playing Poker with Danny.
The Arkham Asylum Guards like Aaron Cash had no idea what to do with the toddler and just waited for Batman and Gordon. If you have a problem, wait for Batman. He should know what to do with them.
Well as Batman came, Danny had escaped through the ventilation shaft. As Danny remembered he was kidnapped, he would miss this place and people but time to leave back to Amity Park. Danny was out of Arkham, time to find a way home. In this new city, how hard can it be.

Danny: Hey, Dick, can I borrow one of your old Robin costumes? I wanna win the Halloween costume contest.
Dick: Sure. Do you want the tights too?
Danny: The what?
Dick: Tights? Nude skater tights? That I wore underneath to keep warm?
Danny: ...
Dick: ...
Dick: Did you really think I ran around Gotham in the middle of winter with no pants on?
Danny: Knowing you, yes.

In all the DC x DP content it’s popular for Danny to be a secret twin of Damian and sometimes Dick but hear me out, Danny is a secret love child put up for adoption.
Bruce has a long playboy history that could come back to haunt him. (heh)
Maybe Danny’s birth mom is Andrea Beaumont, who put him up while she was in hiding.(Phantasm Phantom)
Bruce dealing with I had another son I didn’t know about, I had another son that died
Dick dealing with the fact he is no longer the eldest sibling
Damian dealing with the fact he is no longer the only blood son, Danny looks more like Bruce and by order of birth the new immediate heir
Ghost Zone = Lazarus coincidence and maybe Ra’s meddling by putting Danny with the Fentons
It would appear vigilantism is genetic. jk
Later Danny’s all I think I should introduce you to my sister
We know about Jazz she’s interning at Arkham
No no see some rich fruit loop (no offense) wanted a son and cloned me so now there’s Elle
cue Tim bringing out “what to do if you or a loved one is cloned” power point he’s had since Kon was revealed and Superman didn’t take it well

for the ask game: Danny Arkham Security Guard?
I've been curious where you're at with that for a while (I assumed the muse has fled and/or you're too busy with other fics), so had to pick that one when I saw it on the list 👀
From this WIP ask game
Haha! I knew someone would ask about it!
Honestly I have struggled a lot with picking this bad boy up... When I finally did a few months ago, the last edit was July 2022 😭
Long story short, summer 2022 was the time I really went down the spiral with Hardcover ship and literally every idea I had was for those two. I think what happened was that I realized there was an untapped potential and market for romance and all the classic romance tropes in DP fandom (I understood why that was the case, but still I was frustrated because I hadn't seen a single fic that made me crazy about any ship in DP) and it left me wanting.
Then I wrote Arkham Guard Danny and I did the bit where Jazz almost shoots Jason, and then I liked the dynamics between him and the siblings and I literally said in the AN if I ended up shipping him, I was debating between Jazz and Danny. *laughs in irony*
So basically I went "what if I write every romance story trope but Jazz/Jason?" and the rest is history.
And every damn time I went back to Arkham Guard Danny, I re read it and realized.... Is just so bad. I saw flaws everywhere. I saw bad characterization. I saw "angry robin Jason" and a bunch of things I don't stand by anymore and I felt like there was no way I could continue that fic and the difference wouldn't be felt. Was I too harsh with myself? Absolutely, but we are our worst critic.
Also? I felt the project running away from me. I started developing worldbuilding and ideas and I got mad because Arkham Guard is supposed to be simple. It used to be the "simple fic" I did while I focused on my magnum opus for DP fandom (Eldritch Ghost King Danny AU - "You and me and our best friend makes three"). If it got complicated I didn't want to write it anymore. And then it did and I dropped it.
Recently I went through a really bad situation and it kind of killed any want to write for dpxdc. I thought - why not go back to the basics? Revisit what really made me start in the fandom, what made me get a bunch of comments like "i got into dpxdc because of this fic". Took me back to when I started, how simple it felt to just write a fic and drop it to the ether and not worry about the things that made me want to stop forever.
So I did. Feels good to pick this up again!
I could go on forever but I won't continue rambling about this project (✿◡‿◡)
If you read up to this point, here's a little bit of what I have so far!
---
“Children,” Alfred stood from his seat, positioning himself between the brothers and their guest. “Let her breathe.”
“It’s okay, Mr. — uh…” She blushed as she realized she never asked for his name.
“Alfred,” the butler smiled, “Alfred Pennyworth.”
“Mr. Pennyworth,” she nodded politely. “I’m fine. I am aware that after that… theatrical spectacle, explanations are needed.”
“Indeed.” Batman cut in the conversation. “Proper explanations are in order. After I deliver the Joker to Arkham.”
“You can’t be serious!” Did the old man go crazy? Back to that wretched place?
Jazz frowned, seemingly sharing his thoughts. She leaned closer to the microphone and spoke in a controlled voice. “Where are you delivering him? In the hospital.”
Bruce took way too long to answer, so Tim did it for him. “Through the front door?”
Jazz didn’t find it funny. “Wait for me.”
“What?”
“I said, wait for me.” Jazz reached for her discarded jacket, eyeing the door to the elevator back to the manor. “Joker is my patient and I need to be there.”
“What for?”
She turned to look at Jason. “He doesn’t deserve to be left at the mercy of some of the people in the Asylum. They could—”
“He can rot for all I care.”
The vigilante walked up to her, getting in her way and using his height and build to scare her into submission. Jazz held his gaze, defiant, muscles tense and ready to throw down if needed.
“You don’t know that place like I do.”
Jason huffed. “Whatever the inmates want to do to him, he deserves it.”
“I wasn’t talking about the inmates.” Her teal eyes steeled with fury. “Arkham has a history of staff abusing their authority.”

Tim gives Bernard an old puzzle box with a morbid history and ties to a few conspiracy theories as a birthday present.
Naturally he calls in a favor or two to make sure that it isn't cursed or anything before he gives it to his boyfriend.
Bernard is in love with the thing, and when he's not working or spending time with Tim he's trying to crack open the box.
That's fine, all well and good; until Bernard actually manages to open the thing.
Inside is a glowing, crystalline sphere that radiates cold.
Bernard loves it.
Tim's freaked out by it.
Bernard starts to...get weirdly obsessed with it. Treating it like it's a baby or something.
Buying a crib for it and onesies and toys and stuff.
Tim's convinced he accidentally cursed his boyfriend with some horrible demon or something that'll kill Bernard the second Tim lets his guard down or leaves him alone with it.
Then he has to leave Bernard alone with the sphere to deal with an Arkham breakout
When he come back...
The sphere is gone.
That's a baby in Bernard's arms, wearing one of the pun-onsies he'd bought for the sphere.
Or: Danny, ages ago and many dimensions away, got seriously hurt and reverted to his Core form. The damage was so severe that Clockwork warned Jazz and his friends that even once he came out of his Core form, he would most likely be a child. So Sam, Tucker, and Jazz designed a box with the help of Clockwork that would protect him until he was with people who would keep him safe. Time passed, and the box exchanged many hands, until it came into the possession of one Bernard Dowd. The One Who Proved Himself Worthy.

... Casually throws more fuel to the fire
Residents of Arkham learn about Danny and his "death day" in one way or another. (Coincidentally, it aligns with the same day 2nd Robin died cause of Joker here)
What caused an uproar was when Danny slipped about how during his "death day", he's in quite a bit (read: a lot) of pain and he thinks it might be because of having no grave. Which- oh boy... BATMAN DIDN'T GIVE YOU A GRAVE!?
"Wait wait- what do you mean you don't have a grave!?"
"... I mean... Kinda hard to have a proper funeral of sorts when there wasn't a body left to have one and all. Plus, why would Batman give me one, anyways?"
Everyone's looking at Joker and later Batman. They're both in hot shit. Mainly Joker atm since Batman ain't in Arkham for them to target- at least not until they do a massive breakout just to solely torment him later on.
Like you said, it's mostly general concensus at this point that Death Day is painful. Physically and/or mentally, the amount depends on how much angst the author wants to give.
That being said, you'd think that would mean Danny would take that day off. But we all know he is also the kind of self-sacrificing idiot that would so cover a co-worker's shift that day after being litterly begged too, thanks to understaffing. That or he just forgot but I'm pretty sure it would be hard to forget after the first few times and Jazz would probably call him like before, during, and after his death day because it is just traumatic all around for Danny.
Furthermore, he probably doesn't want to call and talk to Sam or Tucker about it because it makes them feel guilty and he doesn't want to bug them well they are off doing collage things or whatever. Even if his friends are 100% willing to be there for him.
As for the whole inmates knowing about it. Idk if Danny just let it slip or something, perhaps made a joke thinking that no one would believe it anyways. Completely forgetting this is Gotham and weirder things had happened. Though now there is a debate between the inmates on whether Danny was resuscitated, brought back through superhero shenanigans, or is just a zombie or something.
One particularly brave and/or foolish inmate just straight up asks Fenton if he eats brains. He gets a confused no in response, so most tend to cross zombie off the list after that.

Ghost Zone Breakout Au
So! Danny is missing. Maybe it's a Vivisection AU and he ran away, maybe he got trapped by one of his Rogues, either way, Danny is gone and his Rogues are free to spread across the planet.
Walker in particular has an interesting adventure.
After Danny trashed his Prison and broke Wulf out, people realized that it wasn't as impenetrable as he made it out to be. And what's an army of Immortal Criminals to do when given all the time in the world? They test each and every method they can to break in or to escape.
Danny's actions caused a Domino Effect that lead to Walkers Prison being torn apart from both the inside and the outside. He lost his Territory, his Power, and most of his Guards. So he decided to start again in the Mortal Realm.
And he found the perfect New Haunt.
Arkham.
He's never seen such a sorry Prison in his AfterLife (It's an asylum). Criminals breaking in and out every other week, no prisoner staying for longer than a month at most, and nobody is doing anything to fix it.
He needs to remedy this.
So one night, he and his Army of Ghostly Guards attack the Prison. They Overshadow whatever guards are on Duty, take control of the Prison Systems, and Initiate a Total Lockdown.
Walker then sends out a Message.
"People of the Mortal Realm. I an Warden Walker, the new Head of this here little Prison. We have seen how terrible this sorry excuse for a prison is, and decided to take it upon ourselves to fix it. From now on, we will be the Guards of this Arkham. Send your prisoners here, and they will stay here. Try to break in, and you will never leave. Try to force us out, and you will join our undead Ranks. This is not a Negotiation, this is not a Request, this is an Announcement. If you have a problem with this, then I will be happy for personally meet you. I am in need of new employees after all."
After this message, many tried to stop him, but none were successful. He didn't seem to understand that a Prison is meant to hold Prisoners for a determined amount of Time, not forever. Or that it wasn't a Prison in the first place, it was an Asylum to treat the mentally ill.
The Bats could do anything either. Any time they tried to take back the prison, they were beaten back by the Possessed Guards and Ghostly Guards patrolling the grounds. And they didn't want to hurt the Hostages.
They needed a solution, so they got to digging.
Apparently they weren't the only ones who were dealing with Ghost Related Issues. All across the world, powerful Ghosts were claiming large areas of land as their new Haunts, weaker Ghosts were running Rampant in the spaces in between, and JLD was being run ragged as they tried to help wherever they could.
It was a worldwide issue, and they needed to find the Cause.
After a lengthy investigation, they found that all the Ghosts originally came from one Place. A small town in Illinois where they had been trying to break into the Mortal Realm for years, but they had been stopped by another. A Ghost who protected the Mortal Realm from the powerful Spirits of the Dead.
If they had any hope of containing this threat, they needed his help. They needed to find Phantom.

Plant Boy Danny
As Danny gets plant powers and was seen by his parents. Jack and Maddie had the only a normal reaction! They kidnapped Poison Ivy to teach their son!
And as they broke Arkham, Being the nice and law-binding citizen they are, they fixed and upgraded Arkham to a the very top.
The guards and therapists of Arkham had no idea what to say. But hey! Arkham is now even more secure than Fort Knox. So after 2 months of no criminal being able to escape, the Guards and Staff just covered it up that the Fenton's Kidnapped Ivy from Batman. With the support of the city.
Ivy had no idea what just happened.
One moment she was in Arkham, and next she was in an RV. Being taken from one city in the country to a new city many 1000 KM away.
Well, she knew why she was here as she saw the young Plant boy, who was playing with his new powers. Danny's skin was green, with pointy elf ears and standing on Tendrils that were all around the House and block.
After a time living with the Fentons, Ivy asked the question she had in her mind.
Ivy: "You could have just asked me to teach Danny." Maddie:" A mother has to make sure. If you said no, " Jack;" Yeah. This way, it's easier."
+
Gotham
It's been two months since Ivy was kidnapped.
Gotham was never that peaceful for so long.
Bruce had no idea what was happening. Where are his villains, and what plan do they have?
Gordon covered it up; he liked the new security system in Arkham. No criminal was able to even escape their cells.
Well, the villain hates it! Being struck in a tiny cell like animals! They want to escape! But no one really cares for it.

Arkham Security Guard Danny's Backstory Continues!!!
But Dick Grayson isn’t the only Robin Danny knew.
A couple years after they started being friends, Danny (16) hears that Robin is back in Gotham and decides to head over for a visit.  After all, it’s a lot close than Jump City, but when he gets there…
“That’s not Robin.”
Yeah, Dick may or may not have forgotten to tell Danny he’s going by Nightwing now, and instead Danny is left staring down at this kid who looks suspiciously like Dick used to.
Cloning? No.
Kidnapping?  He really hopes not.
Maybe a de-ageing beam?  Always a possibility in this line of work, but no, this is a new Robin.
And Danny’s got to admit, the new Robin is pretty freakin’ adorable.  Dick was still pretty angsty and angry when they met, and after he formed the Teen Titans, was dangerously obsessed with Slade for a while.  But the new Robin is as bright and friendly as his costume with all his “Robin gives me magic” stuff.
And he’s just. so. WIDDLE!!!  Danny’s still only 16, but he’s finally managed to start growing and has hit a respectable 5’8”, and it’s like when you’re a senior watching the freshmen walk in for the first time.  He’s just so itty bitty!
But Danny still associates the name Robin with Dick and can’t use it to refer to this new one, yet, so unfortunately, Jason gets stuck with nicknames.  Short nicknames.  Shorty, Short Stuff, Tiny, Shrimp, etc.  Jason is not a fan of Danny.
After their meeting, Danny calls Dick because how could you not tell me you changed your moniker? …And you’re in Bloodhaven, too?!  Dick also needs to vent because he can’t BELIEVE Bruce went and replaced him.
Dick… buddy… how long did we try to get you a little sibling?
I’M A BIG BROTHER!!!!
Otherwise, direct interaction between Jason and Danny is pretty limited.  Danny is Dick’s friend; Jason is just the little brother.  Still, Dick occasionally asks Jason to help Danny study, and Danny will help with pun-filled advice on being a hero.  He’s also pretty good at first aid whenever Jason gets hurt and doesn’t want Alfred to find out it’s because he did something stupid.
After Jason’s death, Danny helped Dick search the Ghost Zone for him to get some closure, both for himself and Batman, but no luck, and tries hard to convince Dick that it’s actually better this way.
When Jason came back after his dip in the Lazarus pit, Danny can smell the corruption and calls in a favor from the Far Frozen.  Without a way to contact Jason, Danny gives medicine to Dick to pass on.
Outwardly, Jason refuses it and throws Dick out of his place, but behind closed doors, Jason takes it.  It’s a lengthy process, and the side effects suck ass, but all the corrupt ectoplasm and pit madness is purged.  Nothing he needs to tell his family about, though.
When they meet again at the Asylum, Jason was hoping to lord his new height over Danny.  Except Danny kept growing and his 6’8” ass still towers over Jason’s 6’.  The short jokes continue.  However, no short jokes or nicknames are ever directed towards Tim or Damian.  Only Jason.

Prompt 86
Let it be said that someone breaking into Arkham Asylum was not something anyone was expecting. And let it be said that if one was to ever try it, they all- guards, residents, and doctors alike- would think they would be breaking in to break someone out.
They are not in fact, expecting a child to be running through the halls giggling with everyone failing in catching him. Someone catch the child before he gets hurt or somehow makes it to the isolation ward! The joker is in there!
Danny is honestly having fun. Ms. Arkham- Gotham’s own Gatekeeper and daughter- is really fun! Sure he’d rather she not view the people within her walls as dolls and playthings, but he supposes she’s not exactly harming anyone. And honestly she could hold on tighter to a few of them to prevent them from escaping in his opinion.
But he’s here to spend time with his new ghostly Aunt, not judge her, so he’s going to get the whole tour! Secret tunnels you say? Oh, a graveyard, inside your walls? That’s amazing! Isolation ward? Ah, where the naughty dolls go, makes sense!
Well of course he wants to see it, lead the way!

DC x DP Prompt
Danny is working security guard for Arkham. He’s doing a pretty good job, but curiosity gets the better of him. Finding out there’s secret tunnels, of course he’s going to go exploring off the clock, invisible, to see what secrets lie inside.
He’s horrified to find a little Robin barely breathing, beaten and bloodied.
He’s been missing for a few months now and here he is, clinging to life.

Ok so it’s the classic psychiatrist Jazz Fenton that works at Arkham but everybody thinks that she going to become a villain if she hasn’t already. While she seems like she actually wants to help them get better but something is off. For example she weirdly knows how to break into a heavily guarded building without anyone noticing, how to run from the government, one time Victor Zsasz tried to attacked her but she almost broke his spine. Then a couple weeks later her little brother and little sister Danny and Ellie got hired as a security guards they’re even more suspicious, at first glance they look like normal humans but then if you pay attention a little you start to notice some oddities like how they never seem to breathe or how their hair moves like there is a constant breeze and one time one of the inmates caught Danny changing clothes and saw an old y shaped scar. So the villains are making theories on who they are.
But at least they are good at their jobs I mean Danny and Ellie make sure that no one escapes and Jazz is a really good psychiatrist convincing some of the rogues to reform. But since no one has escaped from Arkham in a couple months now it’s starting to get the attention of some bats and birds.
