He loves whenever people stop and compliment you, or are absolutely dumbfounded from how pretty/handsome you are. He, probably more than anyone, is aware of just how ethereal you are, and he loves to have the whole world acknowledge it.

If a little kid were to toddle over to you two and asks you directly if you're royalty, due to your beauty, he stands to the side with an amused smile as you explain to the kid that unfortunately you are not!

But as the kid walks away, a tad bit dejected at not meeting a real-life prince/princess, he parts from your side to go crouch next to the little one and talk to them. You don't hear it, but he's sharing a "little secret"...you actually are royalty. He chuckles at the sparkle in the kid's eyes, and the two make a pinky promise to not reveal your "secret to the world" before he catches back up with you.

"What was that all about, Formaggio?" "Oh, don't worry about it."

You find yourself getting called a new petname after that event <3

Illuso

The two of you are BOTH fawned over equally. If you're more on the fem side, the two of you are giving random strangers bisexual awakenings.

And he eats it right up. He's in love with both the attention to himself and the attention to his beloved. Like fuck yes you're also beautiful, it's amazing everyone can see that.

If anyone is to mistake either/both of you as royalty, he'll be perfectly fine with informing them otherwise; more than fine, actually. Why? Well, it's the perfect opportunity to fish for compliments from anyone possible!

"Royalty? Pssh, not at all. You really think so?" "Oh, well I didn't think my face shape was that impressive, y'know..." "MY partner? a prince(ss)? Well yeah, they are quite beautiful, aren't they?"

If you join him in the compliment-fishing he just falls further in love.

Prosciutto

The two of you are ALSO the most gorgeous couple around. Compliments towards your individual and combined beauty are constant because godDAMN.

Pesci is the first one to compare the two of you royalty, and at the time Prosciutto just shrugs it off. Not that he doesn't appreciate his teammate's kindness, it's just that with Pesci it's kind of expected. Feel free to thank him, though - honestly it makes your lover smile a bit to see you get along with his mentee.

It's when some old lady stops you two to sincerely gush over how incredible you two look together that you get reactions. First and foremost, a tightening of his hand around yours.

"Very kind of you, miss. I'm so very lucky to give my life to this perfect individual."

While he's clearly happy with interactions like that, it's when you make the comparisons to one another that he really lets his face grow warm.

Pesci

His heart flutters every time someone is stunned by how attractive you are. He sees himself in their pink cheeks and wide eyes, he knows exactly how they must be feeling. How can someone so beautiful exist?? He sure was still trying to figure that out.

He's just as flustered as you when people call you as pretty as a prince(ss), and he stays quiet, letting you respond to the person. In all honesty, people don't often assume you two are dating at first, but if you bring it up, he is often congratulated for scoring on a lovely fellow/lady. Just think of his smile <333 AUGH

Pesci wants you to be completely aware that he doesn't just love you for your appearance, and he loves everything about you, but...

"...They are right, you're so beautiful!"

He thinks calling you prince/princess is quite fitting, and will definitely ask you if he can start doing so!

Melone

He keeps his mouth shut and watches every interaction: how immediately captivated and smitten every person is, what exactly they compliment, and how you react to each glowing word, whether it be with a flushed face and lost composure or if you smirk and take it all easily.

It's not that he's being creepy or possessive (probably), he just respects that the moment is entirely about you. You and your effortless charm. He just wants to take it all in himself.

But when some wide-eyed young lady likens you to a prince/princess he can't help but grin - you see the same look in his eyes as when he's solving something on his laptop. The result of his calculations? Ah, yep, it's true. You are royally gorgeous.

"What a smart girl. I never connected the words myself but...a prince(ss)? I'd be willing to believe so."

The interaction isn't really brought up between you two beyond that day. However, if there's anything you know about Melone, it's that he's hard to read. For all you know, he could be thinking about it every time he looks at you.

Ghiaccio

His immediate reaction is to wonder out loud how being beautiful automatically connects to royalty. He'll drop it for a second if you ask him too, but when it's just the two of you he'll bring it up again. Really though, can "peasants" not be attractive? What the fuck!?

You have to explain the compliment directed at you to him, but you know what he's like, you pretty much signed up for this. Luckily it doesn't take him long to understand. He agrees, one hundred percent, that you're so incredible that you seem like a fantasy sometimes, so he gives it to you straight how gorgeous you are.

But...it's weird. Something like this usually wouldn't bug him but he can't shake the buzz of feeling bad. He tries not to feel self conscious about his anger, but of all the things to throw a fit over, it happened to be a major compliment to you. He tries to remedy it later that night.

"You are attractive. Most attractive motherfucker in the goddamn world, and hell if that means you're a fucking prince/princess then I guess I have to agree with it. Please never let my temper make you believe I don't love you endlessly."

Good god how you jumble his brain /pos

Risotto

You plague the abstract thoughts of his mind. Every fuzzy visual in his non-terror dreams feel like optical illusions that lead to your face, and the pulses of colour he sees behind his eyelids seem to always be in the hues that remind him of you. In short, he thinks of you a lot. Maybe more than he should.

So when he watches strangers and even some friends praise your appearance, and the comparisons to fantasy and royalty begin, he chews the back of his lip. You, a prince(ss)...he can practically feel his mind begin to run. Something doesn't feel right. He knows the intention of it, but in his mind you're something stronger than that, you're a king. Queen if you prefer.

You rule over his mind, he thinks. You're the foundation of his hope and comfort, but also his fear. Secure in his arms, half asleep and curling into his embrace, you're driving him insane and you aren't even trying. Your mental grip on his challenges his physical grip as he presses a kiss to your forehead.

"My queen/king, I love you."

Been working on this for a minute now! I'm not 100% pleased with how it turned out, but I'm still proud of it! I also didn't mean to make Y/N so short, but I like to imagine their body got tangled up in the coils while they were brought up for a chat (kidnapped). I might finish coloring it in eventually, but I just had to finish up Naga!Eclipse and Y/N before I shared! I hope you like it!

Hi! I come to you for advice, as I trust your opinion in matters like this. Me being just a casual viewer of war shows, not interested in it just for the genre, should I watch Masters of the Air or not? Thank you in advance! 💖

Augh, I answered this, then my browser crashed not helpful. Anyway, the gist of this is, I am not a casual war shows enjoyer, but I am going to do my best on this front given I know the one war show I know that we both enjoy.

tl;dr: I think MotA has good characters, doesn't sacrifice telling a good story for historical accuracy and I've watched it like, three or four times now already.

So actually yeah, I'd suggest giving MotA a shot. I will not be offended if you don't like it, but I do think it's worth it.

Longer answer under the cut (and sorry, I did get rambly):

While MotA looks from the outside as more of an ensemble piece, it's really about four guys, and two of those guys are a Set. It is also very historically accurate, but it doesn't feel like they got super hung up on that, they get the balance that this is still a historical fiction show.

They do change things up in places for the sake of the narrative. This doesn't always work, a couple of plot threads get dropped in what I feel are clunky ways. Honestly, I think they just tried to do too much and it meant some things didn't get the weight they needed. Still, I found it a mostly cohesive story and strong enough to follow each of our main guys.

Be warned though: there are timeskips a lot in the second half of the series. These are telegraphed quite well but can be a little jarring. This does cause some minor characters to appear to randomly disappear.

They also do not shy away from injury or other horrors of war, so be prepared for that. If you want fuller content warnings, up for that.

So really, it comes down to if you think you're gonna enjoy these four guys:

Gale "Buck" Cleven and John "Bucky" Egan

The very quick way to describe these two are the classic quiet guy/wild child pair, but I think that does them a bit of a disservice because there's depth to both characters that really gets borne out over the course of the nine episodes. Bucky gets a lot more to work with outwardly, but I think they're both gorgeous characters. Their love for each other and how it is tested and reinforced and drives them is a huge part of this show. Austin Butler and Callum Turner have great chemistry, and in both cases, there is a real solid presence of the other when they're in scenes alone. Loved their dynamic with each other and with the men they lead.

2. Harry Crosby

Understated protagonist. He also gets a great character arc over nine episodes. Anthony Boyle is incredible in the role and makes him one of the most likeable and engaging characters I've ever seen. IRL Croz wrote a memoir A Wing and a Prayer which is refreshingly frank and quite funny in parts too, and I think that really serves here.

3. Robert "Rosie" Rosenthal

We don't get to meet him till a few episodes in, so he doesn't get as grand an arc as the others, but I think that works because we get to really hit the story of a guy who just wants to serve justice being flung immediately into an ongoing horror. We get to immediately contrast him with the guys who have been around longer. Also he's really beautiful and SO GOOD AT HIS JOB my God.

Also, while there are supporting characters, none of them really get the focus these ones do, so expectations should be managed on that front. That said, the actors are all great so I personally feel you do get a hold on who they are. Nobody expects you to know everyone's names. I am still only 70% sure I know who Murphy is.

(as usual, my favourite guy is a supporting guy but at least he gets some narrative explicitly discussing him and his job and also he's Raff Law so like, his face is distinctive).

Also Corin is in it for a couple of scenes so you should watch those if nothing else.

What was Cassie and Cissie’s wedding like in ur fic universe?

GOD this is such a good question they deserve an actual fic about it at some point but i don't know when i'll get there but augh!!!

they are THE butch/femme couple of all time. cissie is in a gorgeous dress (strapless and backless of course, we can't have cassie knowing how to put words into sentences properly on her wedding day); cassie's in a neatly-tailored tux, but she's doing that insanely hot thing where she's got the jacket over a real low cut top and a necklace instead of a button-down under it (turnabout is fair play, cissie).

kon is cassie's Dude Of Honor; anita is cissie's maid of honor!

cassie cries when cissie reads her vows. cissie doesn't, but she does gets so giddy she starts bouncing on her feet instead.

bart catches the bouquet.

bart immediately goes WAIT. i certainly don't want to get married next boo!! KON HERE TAKE THIS QUICK--

there are a bunch of cissie's civilian friends also there. cassie's identity is public (cissie's friends screamed when cissie was like yeaahhh so i'm dating. uh. you know wonder girl?) but lots of the other heroes' in attendance are not. one of cissie's friends points at tim like "so... who is that guy???" and cissie is like uhhhh don't worry about it!

kon also actually cries during the ceremony (they've grown up!!! his friends that he's known his whole life!!!! they're getting married!!! waaaaaa) but vehemently denies this

their first dance is a very elegant waltz that's fairly slow and not too elaborate because they both knew they'd need to factor in the way they'd be so busy staring at each other in awe

donna gives a speech that's overall very sweet and genuine but also does roast cassie for zapping herself with her own lasso once because cissie texted her and she was literally tripping over herself to get her phone out as fast as possible.

cissie gets a little tipsy on champagne at the reception and decides that cassie needs to carry her around for the rest of the night. ten minutes later she's like well okay that was a little silly of me but cassie's like nope i can't hear you i'm not putting you down :]

instead of a Just Married™ car to drive away in, cassie simply sweeps her into her arms and flies them away at the end of the night <3

Time for more Earthspark Bumblebee appreciation, let's gooooo!

SPOILERS

Episode 3 has what might be one of my favorite scenes in the entire show so far, because it's beautifully set up and beyond sweet.

After everything hits a tipping point with the Terrans, Bee goes off on his own to contact Optimus one more time, looking quite desperate for some guidance and sounding beyond unsure of himself.

When he goes to voicemail one last time, he's left looking like the saddest lil Bee I ever did see, and is more or less certain he's failed...

OH MY GOD HELP I'VE NEVER WANTED TO GIVE ANYONE A HUG MORE also the lighting is absolutely GORGEOUS

Thankfully, Dot and Alex show up, but Bee is initially avoidant. I like to think the relationship between Bee and the Malto parents kind of shifts in this scene; he's a mentor to their kids, but he's still got a lot of growing to do himself, and they're here to help.

It's actually beyond sweet to me that Bee looks so small here; he's curled up and obviously having a rough time but the Malto parents are nothing but encouraging. Dot affirms her trust in him, while also offering the support he needs. Alex is equally encouraging and as far as I'm concerned Bee is now practically their third robot kid.

I say again; HELP, EMOTIONS.

Then we get this absolutely BEAUTIFUL bit of animation where Bee goes from surprised at the gesture, to absolutely touched and almost bashful, to deeply grateful and AUGH I CAN'T HE'S SO PRETTY AHHHH

In conclusion Bee is best boy and I love how he gets adopted without even realizing it at first but then just goes along with it.

I interpreted it as if her going through a mind fog, where she can't really focus on anything or perhaps just her memory issues acting up

anyway gosh gosh gosh I love cabby she is so canonically disabled, and gorgeous, nice, awkwardly curiously lovely, and pretty

and I love mephone and how he adores bot, and his whole personality (being a mean bitch /aff) (HE HAS FEELINGS) he has dysgraphia fr though. or whatever it is called, sorry I'm not the smartest of the bunch with those names starting with dys

AUGH YEAH THAT WAS PAINFULLY RELATABLE ACTUALLY-

The way they wrote Cabby this episode has been one of the best ways to write her because she actually shows how much she struggles in reality without her files, and how she genuinely means to do good, but she's scared others might get tired of her too or even get mad at her for it. As a person who suffers from very poor memory thanks to mental health + physical health issues, seeing Cabby going through it and even seeing her trusting Bot enough to open up about her disability was so heartwarming too. The scene that completely broke my heart was this one, actually.

It's just the way she says it and how she struggles with her memory so much that it pains me /pos

The reading mind part... I'd say that it would be a mix of both. But even then, Cabby is just complicated too. She's just so dear.

Look how happy she is- when she realizes that Bot isn't judging her for her disability, but rather comforts her and cheers her on.

Something that I like too is how this specific line was used for both Bot and Cabby.

LIKE THINK OF IT

DESPITE ALL OF THE PAIN THEY'RE STILL THEMSELVES.

And the whole scene with Cabby accepting that it could be possible that she might forget the stuff that Bot told her, and how Bot wouldn't mind telling her everything again, because they know that Cabby will listen to them instead of write things, is so important to me actually. Bot is the first person- object, who showed Cabby that kindness. Sure, Cabby's files are her aid, and TT & Fan did call her out for using them in ways that weren't appropiate but they didn't want to hear her out either. Bot actually wants to help her too.

Cabby is just so dear to me, the same way Mic is important to me.

AND YEAH AUGH HOW MEPHONE4 JUST WANTED BOT TO BE HAPPY TOO- HE EVEN CONSIDERED HAVING THEM AS A CO-HOST LIKE- HE BECAME SO SOFT THIS EPISODE WITH HIS CONTESTANTS, BOT AND FLOORY ACTUALLY

Spinning update hours!

Also yes I put in like three hours minimum at the spinning wheel per day. I'm currently doing a masters in Medieval Studies, these are probably the last months for the foreseeable future where I have that kind of free time and by jove I will use it. I also hyperfocus real hard ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Hope the constant updates aren't getting annoying for the poor sods in the tags.

ANYWAY.

The Brown Yarn Harvest has been most bountiful.

(I wanted to take this photo outside for extra effect, but outside was gross and wet)

Plying by tossing the yarn balls under pots and threading the singles through the drainage holes worked like a charm and I think I really owe spin-off magazine a subscription at this point for all the stuff I've learned from their free articles.

Yarn still hasn't been washed because I loathe wet-finishing yarns, but at least it's done. And the last two, I didn't even have to put through the wheel twice.

It's gorgeous. It's silky and wonderful. The actual drafting is pretty damn nice.

The fiber management of the stuff you're not currently drafting, though? AUGH. This stuff is like glitter - the super lightweight fibers stick to everything (except each other... except when they're not supposed to stick to each other), fly off if you look at them wrong, cover everything... and I desperately want to make enough yarn out of this stuff to make something with it.

For now, though, the next step is this:

I swear, these are still vibrantly turquoise and not blue.

Anyway. Time for another stack of 3-ply. I'm mixing these rovings by hand by just swapping different colors in and out while I'm spinning. Yes, it's a pain in the ass, but it works, especially because I want a lot of shades and color changes in this thing; this and the brown yarn are going to go together in a granny shawl eventually, and I want to avoid the rustic brown clashing with Smooth, Commercially-Dyed Turquoise. Hence, extra detail.

okay so honestly this tour has blown everything out of the water so if we're including the recent live stuff then. kids from yesterday is his most beautiful AND technically impressive. the thing about fast shreddy solos is that sure they're very difficult to play but they're also forgiving. skip a note? under/overdo a bend? hit a couple of wrong frets? no big deal, it'll barely be noticeable as long as you're able to recover quick. slow solos that focus more on emotion and musicality are often so much more difficult because every single note matters and the mood depends on you not only hitting every one but hitting it well, bending in tune, sustaining it, really putting feeling into it etc. like for example the summertime solo is super simple and easy to play, but ray pours his heart into it every night so it sounds beautiful, and if he hits just one note wrong it's obvious as hell lol. anyway ray's a master at both of those types of soloing (which is insane, and as much as everyone knows he's an incredible player i feel like his emotionality as a musician doesn't get enough recognition compared to his technical prowess and ability to shred). and kids from yesterday this tour like. combines both of those things at once. it's jawdropping every single night - and the fact that it's, like, semi-improvised some nights too. genuinely astounding like all else aside mcr getting back together is the greatest gift in the world just because we get to witness that. it's like the perfect showcase of how ray's grown as a musician over the hiatus because even though remember the laughter is relatively light on guitar, you can really hear how those solos and exploring that style influenced this new kids one...but it's still so my chemical romance, because ray's never played to show off or posture, he knows exactly what every single song needs to be as emotionally resonant as possible.

anyway. lol spiel on kids from yesterday over (genuinely the way it ROCKETED up my ranking of mcr songs from close to the bottom to close to the top after this tour....lol). if we're talking studio versions only......

favourite solo: this is genuinely such a fucking hard question so i'm going to have to go with my gut response. which is venom. it's probably not my favourite solo anymore, but it was originally - it was one of the things that really hooked me on mcr in the first place, and when my show got cancelled in 2020 i couldn't listen to it for like two solid months bc it was the one i most vividly daydreamed about seeing live LOL so i have a huge soft spot for it. and it's catchy. it's clean. it's classic. it's just fucking FUN like it catches my attention and gets a smile out of me every time lol. close runners-up are vampire money, flw, and the live version of destroya.

most beautiful: augh. fuck. fuck. easy answer is summertime and as much as i agree i think i have to say scarecrow....again, it's nothing overstated. the way it like. weaves around and reinforces the vocals on "love won't stop this bomb" too like...it has brought many a tear to my eye. jesus. side note frank's parts in both of these songs are fucking heart-wrenchingly gorgeous too. for an album that sounds less like a ~guitar album~ than all of mcr's others, danger days has some of the best guitar work of their whole discography man...

most technically/musically impressive: genuinely this one is impossible to answer...like i could make an argument for sooo many of them in different ways...but i think i'm going to have to say. i don't love you. she is criminally underrated and so deceptively simple-sounding but so technically complex AND so fucking emotive. like okay another thing ray should probably get more credit for is not only that he's able to play all these solos flawlessly and beautifully but that he's able to write them - it's truly like he speaks another language, every solo he's ever written is so perfect for the song right key, right chord progression, right scale, right energy. and he's comfortable playing in so many different styles too....his blues-ed up teenagers live playing my fucking BELOVED, his practically baroque metally to the end solo, classic rock or polka or fucking borderline-edm...we are so lucky to have him oh my god.

also if we're counting non-mcr solos. take the world and remember the laughter...oouguhghghhhughhhh SHIT. they tick ALL of these boxes (and you can see what i mean about the new kids from yesterday part growing out of them).

twoweeker tuesday: redux

im really making a trend of two-weekin these huh. gonna try to Not do that bc it makes me way less likely to actually do it lol. speed-posting this before bed (and before the melatonin kicks my ass, i'm trying to reset my sleep sched a bit)

watching: FINISHED SERIAL EXPERIMENTS LAIN. i have so many thoughts. i was in delta-orionis' dms about it a bit but my ass has so many Notes. many thoughts. gnosticism mostly but also the obvious tech-as-extension-of-self throughline. idk it was a very weird show and i definitely need to re-watch it to let it sink in a little more.

playing: no games but a lot of horn! i have an audition tomorrow for the fall's campus ensembles, i am...not super confident about it tbh, unsurprisingly i am not back to where i was pre-pandemic so my upper range and endurance is still really crunchy.

making: i keep forgetting to charge my phone before pottery so it keeps. dying. so i made quite a few new things the past few weeks but no photos of those - i did Crack the Code a bit, so now i can more reliably get things shaped in a conscious way. basically i was sitting too far forward so when i was pulling the walls up i was actually doing it at an angle, if i sit with my nose over the center of the pot it's all *chef kiss* beautiful. anyways here's a few glaze related pics. a lot of disappointment unfortunately.

1. my fucked up teacups. god im so mad about these. they were supposed to be a cool grey-green with a white flower, and matte. it is None Of These Things. idk will get redone. big mad.

2. bowl and mug that both got bubbles because i misread the glaze labels - they're both mayco glazes that are optimized for cone 05, not cone 5, so the both the color is not as good as i thought and also the surface variation is. not great. the bowl is acceptable, it's mirror blue, it went through the kiln again and the bubbles evened out (pic is from before), and plus it's on the outside - i just put plain white on the inside - so it's fine. the mug is a little more problematic. it was green slip sgraffito with evergreen fir over top, and i really love the color effect, but there's some small bubbles along the rim...this glaze was marked as food safe in a way that the mirror blue is Not so i thought it would be fine but. well. i'm hoping nuking it in the kiln again will smooth those out.

3. One Good Thing: trying a new glaze technique! someone in my studio does this gorgeous thing where she paints on flowers with underglaze, then covers them with liquid latex to paint on the background, and finally peels off the latex. it always comes out sooo nice, so when i ordered some more underglaze i went ahead and added liquid latex to cart too :3 this is just the flowers, i will be adding the background tomorrow!

eating: uhhh good cauliflower vegetarian shawarma thing that i refused to make unless we added a can of chickpeas because where in the fuck is the protein. tonight was a miso-butter chicken with radishes that we added potatoes and onions to. both sheetpan recipes so im def a fan of those now.

misc: ouuuugh. augh. oughghghg. i need to be done with homework forever please god. i have like...7? 8? total hws left between my two classes. and then i am Done With Classes. mentally gearing up to do my preliminaries at the end of the summer. not to doxx myself but ouch. basketball yesterday. Pain. the eclipse yesterday WAS unreal. oh my god. i drove to [redacted] very small town about 40 minutes from me and it was perfect. so glad i avoided the Big City, although that's where my roommate and her mom went and apparently the traffic was fine, but i'm definitely glad to have been in a less crowded zone. i get it now. i want to take that feeling i had watching totality and eat it and keep it with me forever. i was with friends. the weather was perfect. it was beautiful.

1. Old Fashion Cupcake

I have watched this start to finish over 5 times in just the last year. Confident gay who is actively having a crisis all the time? An older man coming to terms with himself at 40? Who would've thought an office drama could go that hard. Especially when everything about it is so soft it just wraps me up in a warm fuzzy blanket

2. Beyond Evil

Something about how justice and grief and guilt and love are all one massive tangled knot that none of us can hope to sort through without each other. About wanting to be damned but being saved instead, and finding out it's just as painful.

3. Word of Honor

MY FIRST C-DRAMA. the sheer plot chaos. Gremlin murder husbands and their kids. The manic delight of seeing how hard they went with the gay despite censorship. Glorious unparalleled and perfect

4. The Untamed

My second c-drama gays. Fundamentally altered my view on people and relationships. Came for the gay, left haunted by every single sibling relationship. How devastating grief can be, and how moving on is both inevitable and impossible.

5. The Good Place

FAVOURITE COMEDY EVER. There's so much love and kindness at its very core. Commentary on the inherently fucked up nature of the capitalist world AND the most gloriously absurd and meaningful afterlife system ever. They all have my entire heart.

6. Yuri!!! on Ice

I don't even know what to say. It's gorgeous. It's unbelievably soft and just. so lovely. Go watch it if you haven't it's worth it.

7. Good Omens

AUGH MY BELOVED 6000+ YEARS PINING ANGEL AND DEMON. I can watch them just exist around each other forever. S2 destroyed me but I don't regret a single thing

8. Bad Buddy

They're such fucking idiots. Obsessed with how silly and gross and sincere they are. It's the first Thai BL I went beserk over

9. Moonlight Chicken

The next Thai BL I went berserk about!! I think it does a lovely job of showing queer relationships for different generations with their differences without condemning or glorifying any one. It's so sincere and grown up in an incredibly kind way.

10. Mysterious Lotus Casebook

If you've gone through the last 2 months without blocking me for the MLC spam, thank u. It won't stop anytime soon. I'm just obsessed with li lianhua and his tragic and convoluted connection to grief and the past. Also also his silly little polycule. The biggest emotional mindfuck of an ending since BBC Merlin. The brainrot is here to stay

I teased @ostrichmonkey-games about getting me a birthday gift, and now my karma is that he gave me such a beautiful gift that I cried 😭 all day 😭 I wish I was joking 😭 or exaggerating 😭

The Cowboy is a special playbook for one of my favorite games, Josh's Fractal Romance. On top of that, The Cowboy is inspired by my character from our last Apocalypse Keys playtest!

Vindicta Vex (he/they/it) is The Betrayed, or Vinny to his friends. Vinny is a cowboy and disaster gay. He just also happens to have the entity of vengeance lined up nice and cozy against what remains of his human soul.

It's funny because throughout the playtest, I had a great time roleplaying Vinny, but oh boy did I struggle to portray the American Cowboy archetype. It was absolutely hilarious. (don't worry, the disaster gay parts came to me naturally, as they always do)

I am just absolutely struck by how gorgeous a gift a personalized playbook is, and I really do love everything about it (the Apocalypse Keys color palette! The awesome collage bits! Vinny's head is on fire because that's when they're the coolest!)

I think it's also easy to see why I love Fractal Romance, with how beautifully written the moves are for The Cowboy. In every playbook, the moves are so easily open to interpretation, they invite you to dive into every lovely metaphor.

Anyway it's my birthday so you should check out Fractal Romance and play it, and tell me all about your hangout and the chill time you had. It is absolutely a gorgeous game that I love so much and I still can't believe Josh made me a playbook for it AUGH I'M STARTING TO CRY AGAIN ANYWAY CHECK OUT THE GAME BYE
