so many people disliked thor: the dark world, and while i generally understand the "it wasn't nearly as good as the first one" argument, i do think people focus on the wrong things. i enjoyed tdw and thought it did ok as a sequel (it handled the fucked-up family dynamics pretty well for the most part), and while i'm annoyed by it's treatment of jane (who to be cleared deserved better in the first movie too) as well as darcy and selvig (who were also there), i think people tend to overlook the biggest problem:
malekith. not the plot-based arguments or the lack of effort gone into putting fitting his motivation into the story, i just mean the sheer amount of downgrade from the comics.
if you haven't read any comics with malekith (especially during the war of the realms storyline), you are missing out. malekith is an amazing antagonist - he's extremely fun to watch, bizarrely sympathetic at times (turns out having characters say things at you when you already know their historical sources are deeply untrustworthy is significantly less compelling than seeing it for yourself), and hilariously funny.
also, he and loki's relationship is fascinating. they're both untrustworthy bastards who will backstab each other at the drop of a hat, and yet for some reason keep working together. both before and after loki stopped being a full-time antagonist.
here's some fun malekith moments for y'all:
bro he's literally right there you're gonna make him cry
knives for days
malekith would like tumblr, i think. no further commentary.
hey he hacked that arm off you unfair and unsquare, odinson
mid-battle mockery
he came here to attack people and he's honestly having such a good time right now
gotta hand it to him
it's britney bitch
guess who's back. back again
they have definitely fucked at least once

The David Go "Pride Ally" Variant for Immortal Thor better be Odin bombastically enjoying a pride parade while Loki and Angela look on in confusion and horror, while Sera is laughing her ass off.
Thor has a camera recording Everything.
..........
Alternatively, Balder. Balder The Brave, Balder The Beautiful, Balder the HERO, the true ally to the LGBTQ+ community.

Apparently the talks to have Tom Cruise as Iron Man was only ever an idea, but we got very close to having Daniel Craig as Balder the Brave, Thor’s other brother on the Illuminati . Craig had to drop out because of a “COVID spike” but scenes with his double were shot.
Hemsworth, Hiddleston, Blanchett and Craig? Damn that’s a sexy family.
Maybe he can show up another time. His wife is a Black Widow...
