#is it mature of me to post negative comments left on my fics? no #is it fun to share the weird/crazy/trolling comments I get? yeah lol #lets unpack whats going on here #so basically this person's sending insults and threats....to get me to leave positive reviews on their ''friend's'' stories #am I understanding that right?#on what planet would this tactic work? other than on like. a kid #also what year is it? who tf uses the word flame anymore? and who tf still calls upon critics united in 2023?#also having my fics posting to a ''flaming community'' is also supposed to be a threat apparently #as if I don't already knowmy writing is dogshit lmao #but like....I'm just gonna delete the comment and move on with my life. that's also an option that I'm def selecting #because none of this matters?#idc if my writing gets trolled #like once or twice I'll share that stuff (like rn) but in the longrun Im not gonna care #Im still gonna write. I write for myself #I share my fics in case anybody would like them (and I have at least 5 fans so that's more than I need to be motivated)#also I could care less if my account or fics get deleted from ff.net because that site is terrible #I haaaaate navigating it both on desktop and on the mobile app #I think it'd actually be doing me a favor if someone deleted all my shit from there lol. one less place to post to #next time somebody wants to threaten me with getting deleted from a platform do it on a more respectable website. like AO3 #because this whole thing's just a joke to me #also Im certain the''friend'' is the one sending these anonymous comments to people including me #evidence: their account was made in 2012 (explains the commenter's use of the words flame and critics united)#next piece of evidence: all of the fandoms they write for a spaces for minors #(teen titans. the lion kind/lion guard. wordgirl. littlest pet shop. warriors. etc)#I glanced thru quite a few of these fics for shits and giggles and they're....not good. no details and nothing compelling in them #so the person would probably want to put others down to make them feel superior #especially minors. because they're easy to scare and make feel bad #honestly this whole thing is just dumb and sad #anyways hope you guys get a kick outta this as much as I did #I'm gonna go back to writing now. new Moon High chapter coming out soon!

While we're on the topic of De-aging AU's I wanna talk about Jason and Damian if Jason was 14 again real quick.

Do you guys think that Damian looks at this version of Jason, so different from the version he knows, nothing like the person he was told Jason was, and feels uncomfortably seen?

Damian was always told that Jason died because he was reckless, because he disobeyed orders, he was fired as Robin and he got himself killed. A cautionary tale, not a threat to his position. He dismisses Jason because Bruce does, because Dick does, because sometimes even Babs and Alfred do.

That's not the kid that he's looking at now. This Jason is happy, and smart, and full of love that has not yet soured into grief. He hangs on Bruce's every word, trains until his hands bleed and his body gives out to perfect the moves Bruce teaches him. He looks at Bruce with stars in his eyes and he calls him dad.

And Damian can't help but think, that this is the perfect Robin. The perfect son. And if Jason - sweet, loving, strong, Jason - can be fired, can die and have his room locked away and his pictures torn down, can have his last memory as Robin be as A Good Soldier, how could the rest of them ever compete? What could Damian do to stand a chance?

Jason will never grow out of the shadow of Robin, like the rest of them did. As long as Bruce, and Dick, and Babs, and Alfred look at him and see a dead kid who came back wrong, he will never get to be anything else. He will not get to be looked at through who he is now without the shadow of a dead boy looming over him.

And the worst part? Jason is exactly the same person he was back then. Bitter, sure, angry, justifiably, but he is still the boy with too much love in his heart and righteous fury festering in his gut. He is exactly the same boy who threw himself in front of an explosion to save his mother.

(The lines between the mother that betrayed him and the father that disgraced him are so very blurred. Fire or blade or crowbars or fists it does not matter. It ends the same way it always does because Jason Todd always dies, in every universe, in every timeline, Jason dies and crawls out only to be killed again and again and again.)

I shouldn’t laugh because it’s horrible and clearly Hojo didn’t teach him how to socialize normally, but it’s funny how the “not being familiar with crass slang” thing would probably have been pretty accurate actually. He’s apparently suuuper polite speech-wise in the Japanese translation as a kid, but not as formal in CC, so hopefully Gen and Angeal taught him slang and whatever else.

I went to an Ilan Pappé talk yesterdays - I really recommend his books if you've not checked them out already. He's arguably one of the worlds leading experts on Zionism and the "Israel"-Palestine conflict, so obviously everything he said was great, but what I want to highlight:

Someone asked him if he thought the protests and petitions and calling you reps and shit would work, and he said no, it never will. It's still important to do that but the powerful will never surrender their power to the powerless just because they ask for it. Asking the UK and the US to cut ties with their imperial outpost in the Middle East is like asking an animal to gnaw off it's own limb - it won't do it unless its only other choice is dying completely.

So who does have the power to put a stop to this, we asked. The working class of the imperial core. That's us, and we are the most powerful people in the world right now, because this war machine can't function without us. Movements like this can only be built from the ground up, so stop looking to the government and start looking to your community. We need to make it more unprofitable to support Israel than it is to cut ties with it.

This is a call to action. The people HAVE the power, and we have to use it. Yes, that's you. Contact your trade union, your workplace, your school, your church, your university. Your friends, family, any connections you have. As many people on board as possible, with one goal: shut it down. Take direct action now.

can you really talk about tim's tendency to idolize and place dick on a pedestal and his semi-entitlement to understanding dick without also talking about dick's tendency to project his own feelings and insecurities onto tim and also his semi-entitlement to his right to try and micromanage how tim should feel and react about things. i, personally, cannot.

#dick and tim #anyways trust me when i say that none of this is meant in a negative way because this is what i Like about them lmao #forever thinking of the M/F fight where dick expects that tim will go alone with his line of thinking just because he says so #and is shocked when tim doesn't and instead has his own thoughts and feelings abt the matter #and babs has to tell him that tim isn't him & had a fundamentally different experience to him #it's like hmmm very realistic to me #the way they do this to each other in a way that almost is depersonalizing but like isn't actually #it's more just that they understand each other so well most of the time that it's easy to forget that they're their own person #with their own thoughts and feelings #like hm. there is something very realistically siblings about it in that #older siblings do tend to try and dominate the relationship with their thoughts and feelings because #their first memories are of being expected to lead their sibling and the sibling usually comes at a time when the older sib is v possessive #so the older sibling conceives the younger sibling as belonging to them and being kind of a hm extension of them vs their own person #meanwhile the younger sibling has no knowledge of a life where the older sibling doesn't exist #and the younger sibling's experience is that of observation of the older sibling from basically the very first day of life #so the younger sibling will often see and perceive the older sibling in very interesting ways #they're always learning something with thay observation good or bad #and thus probably develop more instrinsic understanding than even the parents do #and conflict comes because each is their own person but it's hard to see them that way sometimes #anyways there's also another thread where for dick it's hard to conceptualize tim's family of origin as real compared to them #but that's like mainly headcanon just know i'm right and it's interesting

Thinking about how Ianthe must have built an adolescence on the secret conviction that if the Corona-necromancer charade was exposed and everybody found out how powerful and ingenious she was, they'd have to adore her just as much as her sister. Then she becomes a lyctor and the secret gets out but all the surviving House heirs just turn against her. Then she finds out that instead of celebrating her ascension her parents made her and Corona's birthday a national day of mourning. Then she makes it to God's own secret hideout but the older lyctors treat her like shit and God ignores her completely for Harrow. Then she seemingly gets God all to herself but he's too busy fucking and drinking his sorrows away to remember she exists. Then he gets his real daughter back from the dead and Ianthe's chances of ever becoming his specialiest favored child drop back to practically nil.

All before she finds out that the man she murdered for power is slowly cannibalizing her from the inside, destroying her own, sacrosanct, brilliant self, the one thing she thought she could hold on to forever.

Just…just thinking about it.

one of my friends got me on gender worldbuilding headcanons and I was thinking about empires. and you know what. I think that the ocean empire’s concept of gender is WILDLY DIFFERENT from people who aren’t fish. I think they don’t have an exact cultural 1:1 equivalent to our gender because they’re fish people, right, I think they switch sex characteristics based on water temperature and need because that’s what some fish do and I think that’s neat. so they don’t have a concept of immutable gender tied to sex characteristics. however they DO have a somewhat equivalent concept of like, leadership and dominance roles and also visible presentation. I think to outsiders it reads as matriarchal because their “leader”/“dominant” role tends to be the most brightly colored, frilly one, and is related to “the ones who get to reproduce”, and also maybe grammatically it’s considered a “feminine” word by linguists, so it gets related to being a woman, and like, lizzie will go with that if it’s the equivalent right? and societally there ARE GENDER ROLES except it’s NOT BASED SO MUCH ON OUR IDEA OF “GENDER” AS ON THEIRS… I need to flesh this out more but I think it could be neat that’s all,

On the rare occasions when Hob is actually mad at Dream— he refuses to sleep. Coffee, energy drinks and the God forsaken awakeness pills? All fair game. If he has to inject caffeine directly into his vein, he would. Hob doesn't often get mad, but when he does, he likes to make a point. Dream and Hob match in more than one ways, really, they do. And so it is that the Dream Lord must come out of his realm personally to sprinkle sand into his lover's eyes because he'd be damned if Hob refuses his gift for more than two nights in a row. Not speaking for 100 years? Easy. Hob refusing sleep? Unacceptable.
