Sam: I can't believe you still use a flip phone
Bucky: At least I don't have to worry about being tracked by the government
Sam: Yeah, because they're still using carrier pigeons to send you messages.

Hi! I'd want to ask this about Kaworu: Is he fixated on his own death, meaning he cannot conceive of the damage his death will cause to Shinji? This was just something I bumped into, as some people tried to give an example why Shinji's relationship with Kaworu is NOT the healthiest of them all (which is what apparently makes Kaworu such an interesting chararacter in the first place). Apparently the original drafts even were going to push this idea even further but I can't really comment on that further.
Kaworu isn't fixated on his death but rather fixated with the endgame of making Shinji happy (aside from altruism directed at lilin). The onus doesn't lie chiefly on Kaworu; the altruism of Kaworu doesn't make the relationship imperfect. His misinterpretation of what made Shinji happy is where the flaw lies on Kaworu's end. Shinji's idealism (which turns into a veneer of contempt when challenged) makes the problems within the relationship come from two parties. When analyzing flaws within their relationship, one must understand that the responsibilities lie on both.
Kaworu is implied to be suicidal in drafts, remarking with something like 'living is painful.' toward the end of ep.24's draft.

I listened to BTAA and am relistening to ROGUES..... help girl I've fallen for the DC trap yet again
Some ppl and I were joking about Scarecrow iterations aligning with the magnus archives' 15 fears and I ended up turning my take on The Dark into a full guy <3 I've got some explorative doodles and a quick lil portrait I made

He doesn't have an actual costume bc he's always cloaked in shadow and has no need for it. His ultimate plan is to trap Gotham in eternal night and flood it with fear toxin -- his mix in particular blocks all sensory input, then causes panic and auditory/olfactory/tactile hallucinations. Victims are prone to tearing themselves apart, since they can't register any pain. Also if you cross him you will have your eyes stolen <3

Last paper I was going to read has been read... it was the most interesting to me. It was about low-head dam removal and it's effects on the community make up of the fish populations in those streams. It was not a study performed by the guy I am talking to tomorrow, it was actually a grad thesis by a student that worked with him in the aquatic sciences center. Now I just have to figure out the answers to a couple questions I was recommended to have answers to because they seem likely to be asked.
#I still don't have any good questions to ask him though *sobbing*#I have questions about like the timing of the research because mostly everything I saw was longer than a grad degree will take#I want to know how they pick their research projects because there are so many things that could be researched#but otherwise its just statements#I want to learn fish dissection and identification. I want to learn how to use R. I want to refresh/understand statistics#I was most interested in the studies that were done on things like the dam-removal effect and riparian vs agriculture streams#the studies on fish population demographics were interesting and important but didn't quite capture me the same way#I guess I can just say that these were the things I found interesting and would like to study and be involved in#but that because I don't have much (any) experience creating my own experiments#or with aquatic ecosystems I am not really sure what a good research question would be but that I want to learn#..... I don't know if that's great though because it might just make me seem inexperienced#in a way that would not be beneficial to a lab. like that I wouldn't be bringing anything to the table#but on the other hand if you are expecting a brand new grad student to have all the answers what are you doing#but also I have been out of school and been working for 4 years so I should be more mature and have a better grasp of science#AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA JUST WHAT IF IM NOT GOOD ENOUGH#i am so stressed

I've said this before, but maybe if I change how I say it more people might like it. Games!Ned does have a personality.
But he does suffer from something that affects a lot of characters throughout the games, especially in the later ones. Lazy writing.
Really Frank and Joe actually suffer from this too. I don't remember enough about Bess and George in the later games to say this totally applies to them as well.
Anyway, I was talking about this with some other people in the fandom a while back but I just remembered to make a post about it. Something that all three of the boys suffer from is having their personalities be reliant on another character.
Joe's personality becomes HEAVILY reliant on him being Frank's kinda goofy younger brother
Ned's personality becomes HEAVILY reliant on being Nancy's boyfriend
And Frank's personality becomes HEAVILY reliant on being a tired older brother to Joe and being awkward cause he has a crush on Nancy
All of us noted that in the earlier games this really isn't the case. All three of them have fuller, independent personalities that disappeared or got weaker over time.
All of those things their personalities became reliant on are often things that fans made clear they associated with each character.
But I also don't think that it's like entirely a blinded by fanon issue. I think that HeR just got like a little lazier or whatever better/more descriptive word could apply and just focused each character on another character they're meant to be associated with.
Like it's extremely easy to focus the Hardy Boys' personalities with each other and how the other reacts to it. Frank is a tired older brother of a guy who's kinda goofy, sure. But that's not it. It's also really easy to write the main thing about the protagonists boyfriend being that he's her boyfriend and nothing more. When that's not all Ned is.

Tell me who your friend is, and I'll tell you who you are. Harry has surrounded himself with these people, and he communicates with them 24/7. It's not like anyone is forcing Harry to work with them. Yes, it's frustrating to know that the person you love is friends with bad people, but it's a fact.
I mean, i don't necessarily think that Harry's situation is so black and white. Let's not forget that he was literally a small town baby when he got thrown into this mess of an industry, 16 year old is literally a child. At 21, when he was coming out of the band, having lived what felt like 5 lifetimes, I was going to my first job abroad scared shitless 😭
I just don't think we should look at his relationships with the people around him from one point of view. Most of those men were literally sent out to groom him into working with them or, as lovely Kid mentioned today, set out their eyes on him because they saw profit. He was a vulnerable kid, in a vulnerable situation, probably traumatized to a core who, I wouldn't be surprised, looked for that ounce of trust and friendship with people. I don't doubt there was some manipulation in play from those old fucks trying to befriend him, since especially, like I said, he might have been fragile. They knew very well what they were doing, pretty much backing Harry into a corner professionally and personally and crowding him from all the sides.
Now, why Harry let that happen, I don't know but I feel sorry for him, because with so many ties to those greedy assholes it will be hard to get out. I just think it's complicated, and Harry being this kind person may not be realizing that his supposed friends might not actually have his best interest at heart. And if he does - it's incredibly hard to get over being backstabbed, betrayed and then the grief that comes with it. I just hope one day he realizes that he deserves so much better than to serve as a cash cow for all these people who see him as dollar bills first.

almost no one that admires jane seymour ever has an actual answer as to why, atp it’s almost...funny?
#scrolling instagram...bored.#'i like her BECAUSE we know so little about her' yeah that's not an actual reason...?#and is as point of fact actually rather damning#you 'like' her because you can project whatever motivations/traits etc you want onto her depending on what hill you're dying on#of the moment...? like ok?#'she was a bad bitch controlling the situation and you're just jealous' vs 'how dare you say there is anything morally ambiguous about#being the successor of a murdered woman she was a HELPLESS VICTIM and DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE '#or. ' i like her BECAUSE she was ineffectual ' ummm. alright?#if women effectively wielding power makes you uncomfortable and them failing at it makes them acceptable to you then that. is . also weird#addition: i read a book about her recently i actually liked#my major criticism of it would be why it began may 20 1536 tho...#it's first POV so it deals with her guilt in the months preceding anne's death#but because that part is absent we can't really feel the weight of the guilt as the reader#the narrative posits that it was encouraged by her brothers and they told her that the king would arrange a beneficial marriage for her#if she 'played along' but absent of it is her encouragement of the idea his own marriage was invalid etc#which granted is someting AB credibly had to have engaged in as well#but my major issue with most novels centered on jane is that the narrative never handles/ acknowledges#that...#explicitly nor even tacitly#that her likely disdian for her predecessor was essentially hypocrisy#there is a disingenousness is not acknowledging. the implicit disingenous nature of jane seymour#even if it was insofar as mainly deceiving herself#(tbf. the author did deal with that rather skillfully in other respects. just not this one)
