i am actually un diagnosing as autistic due to my proficiency at eye contact. i in fact have to remind myself to look away thats how good i am at it. i would get an A+ in eye contact
#for anyone outside of the know i will explain the joke because my sarcasm doesnt always read as such;#autistic people often struggle with disliking eye-contact and many have practiced rituals for the normal amount of eye contact which are so#distracting to perform correctly that they can lose focus on what the conversation is about#i personally was reprimanded for gazing off into space quite young so i have zero issue looking people in the eye when they talk#but i dont know what the appropriate amount is. so i do too much.#i seriously just stare at them intently for the entire time the both of us are speaking and have to manually look away when i speak (normal#way to act based on observation) and occasionally glance off around me#so the joke is i still struggle with eye contact. but most people wouldnt realise that because they think autism is the same for erryone#my overcompensation due to my natural awkwardness makes me struggle in the opposite way#its also a joke about how because people think all autism is the same many people dont get diagnosed. never been an issue for me personally#because i realised at an age at which support is no longer really offered so all it would get me is banned from entry into some countries#(autistic people are barred from becoming citizens in some countries due to perceived higher support needs)#also i once said to my dad i thought i had adhd and he said 'you dont have adhd. you know that'. and my mum regularly talks about autistic#people as a third party to me. and about how she works with them#to be fair to both of them my dad is 100% autistic and knows it (accepted this fact at51) and my mum is probably autistic but i dont want to#talk to her about it so shes just going to be weird forever#oversharing online is important because what if someone wanted to know that

d&d 5e languages and gender
i know this is already a very nerdy blog but please indulge me a moment,,
for my homegame i've been fleshing out how different languages in the game deal with gender / pronouns based on their cultures (some of them are canon languages but some are for our setting) and it made the little nerd in me very happy so i wanted to make some headcanons for the rest of the dnd languages and share it for anyone who'd like to steal / take inspo
feel absolutely free to use these in homegames but if you use for anything streamed or for your own ttrpg/homebrew/fics then crediting/linking back is appreciated :o)
disclaimer: this blog is run by a genderqueer trans man and any queerphobic interaction will immediately be blocked
common
common started off with the standard he, she, & they pronouns but simply Loves a good loanword and so its not uncommon to hear people using pronouns from other languages in otherwise entirely common dialogue. there is some Fighting about whether this is appropriative based on the individuals culture or whether its unfair to people who only speak common to keep up with them all
dwarvish
not too much variety in what most people would consider pronouns, it tends to be more one singular neutral pronoun for someone you don't know / don't know well, and then variations that are more like honorifics than anything else. their pronoun might translate more readily to "skilled with a hammer" than anything regarding a gender
elvish
lots of pronoun options that explore different presentations of gender but they are also age/experience locked. a feminine male elf would use different pronouns as a child, teen, young adult, young adult with job, middle age, middle aged with children, etc. using pronouns from a different life experience bracket from you is incredibly frowned upon and people just dont do it
giant
there is one pronoun for giants & kin and one pronoun for not giants and the one for not giants is not derogatory at all, its just used to differentiate who is part of the family or not (individuals adopted by giants tend to use the giant pronoun)
gnomish
LOTS of variation in pronouns. gnomes love inventing new pronouns. there are general grammatical rules that they follow to Signify that its a pronoun but hearing three new pronouns a day is like. not uncommon. lots of gnomish teens go through a phase of making up at least four new pronouns they want to go by. uncommon to only go by one set. typically introduced along with your name
(more under the cut)
goblin
no gendered pronouns, all pronouns are instead structured around relations between individuals. so one person would use brother pronoun with one person, son pronoun with another, best friend pronoun to another. the family pronouns are not locked to actual family, just what the relationship is like. if you don't know someone well, its "cousin", "niece/nephew", "auntie/uncle", or "grandparent" depending on their age
halfling
pronouns are split between public and private use. in general in the community or with outsiders, there's a single pronoun that translates loosely to "friend". actual individual pronouns are only known to and used with close friends and family. there's a small handful of them and only some of them have gendered connotations
orc
there are only four categories of pronouns: masculine, feminine, both/mixed, and neither. but there's a decent amount of variations because there are varying levels of formality for each of them. there are ways to conjugate them so they're more formal and respectful, but also lots of diminutives to make them more affectionate and closely-bonded
abyssal
no use of pronouns. lots of very specific derogatory terms that are used in place of them. i shant elaborate.
celestial
lots of variations in pronouns. they are not very closely tied to gender, but are tied to very specific aesthetics. instead of having individual pronoun words, in celestial you just use root words. so one person might use the root word for things that are soft and gentle and natural for their pronoun, while another person might use the root word for things associated with dark and murky and mysterious things for theirs. tend to be tied to domains
draconic
no use of pronouns, only names and titles. if you happen to share a name with another individual who speaks draconic, you would need a unique title to go after it. the full name and full title is said at every reference of someone
deep speech
deep speech has pronouns probably but hearing them for any individual you dont share a close identity group with makes you violently nauseous and then the word immediately leaves your mind so it's just really hard to learn them
infernal
there are words for "you", "me", "us", "we", "this one", "that one", "those ones" etc but no classic pronouns as far as individual usage goes. if someone really needs to be specific they would use whatever pronoun that individual uses in their native language. tieflings have introduced a Lot of neopronouns into infernal but theyre all borrowed from other languages and then reworked into infernal grammar and tend to be localized to communities
primordial
individuals are referred to their elemental type (or "none") rather than pronouns tied to gender. so it would be more like "the windy one" or "the rocky one" than anything like he or she
sylvan
no standard gendered pronouns, it's entirely nounself. so basically infinite amount of pronouns that are easily understood by anyone familiar with that noun. so you would have things like pebble pronoun, teapot pronoun, sword pronoun, with some general affiliations with presentation but less so with gender
undercommon
pronouns are based on level of respect and not gender, but there are also pronouns specifically used for children. like craftsmen would typically all use the same pronoun unless one was incredibly successful and respected, or had a very bad reputation, etc. there are pronouns used only for royalty and pronouns used only for deities
speak with animals
when translated into common, tends to just be translated as the animal's bio sex, but it can go a little screwy when speaking about creatures who have biological sexes so outside the humanoid concept of sex and gender that even magic dont fuckin know how to translate it. kind of just makes a weird bubbly noise in its place
if you read this far thank you thank you and if you end up using these in your campaign lore or fics i would love to know :o)

You were so captivated by the next chapter in your book you didn’t notice Tate walk in. He observed you, leaning against the doorframe with his arms crossed over his chest. He watched your forehead crease with wrinkles as you concentrated on the page, your lips slightly parted, your eyebrows raising in surprise when you read something that maybe you shouldn’t have. He couldn’t help but notice how flustered you were, fiddling with the corner of the page before flipping it over.
He didn’t want to interrupt you, but he had to, taking a loud, very obvious step into the room. Your eyes shot up to meet Tate’s, your face a light tint of pink. He offered you a small smile, curious to know what you might’ve been reading to look so worked up.
“Whatcha reading?” He asks nonchalantly, as you set the now closed book in your lap, your open hands strategically shielding the cover from his vision.
“Oh nothing, just a book my friend lent me,” you reply, not noticing your words flowing at a much faster pace than usual. Tate did though, his lips curling into a sly smirk as he sat down on the edge of the bed.
“You look worked up,” he said to tease you, “what’s it about?”
You bowed your head, refusing to make eye contact as you tried to think of how to summarise your book in a way that was appropriate enough to say out loud.
When you took a moment too long to answer, Tate took that time to slot between your open legs, resting his head on your stomach.
“I dont know how to.. uh, summarise it,” your fingers combed through his hair soothingly, “do you really want to know?”
“Maybe,” he said, lifting his head to look at you.
“Okay well- it may be a bit erotic,” you revealed, laughing away your embarrassment.
“That’s not like you to read erotica,” Tate snorted, but his fingers skimmed the skin on your inner thighs as he said it.
“Yeah well-” you swallowed thickly, your mind fuzzy from his fingertips “maybe I wanted to try something different.”
“How about we try something different?” He asks, his thumbs hooking into the waistband of your underwear, tugging them down your legs.
You bit your lip as you looked into his eyes, ashamed that this book had such a big effect on you and knowing he could now see that.
“Like what?” Your voice came out only slightly louder than a whisper, as Tate picked up the book and offered it back to you.
“Keep reading,” he said, before you felt his kisses pepper across your hips bones, travelling further down towards your throbbing heat.
Taking a deep breath, and trying not to let Tate distract you, you dove back into the book. Reading was almost futile when Tate’s lips wrapped around your sensitive bundle of nerves, sucking softly. You almost dropped the book to tug at his blonde curls until Tate raised his head again.
“Keep reading baby,” he said again, and this time, you tried to share your focus between the boy between your legs and the next page.
Tate separated your folds with his thumbs, licking from your centre back up to your clit, his tongue flat against your skin and applying the perfect amount of pressure. You let out a soft moan, trying not to let your eyes shutter from the waves pleasure coursing through you from your core.
Tate moaned against your entrance, his nose pressed deliciously against your clit, his tongue tasting you off your pulsing walls, as you read how the characters in your book embraced in their own passionate love affair.
The words began to blur into one on the page, as Tate’s tongue rivalled for all of your attention, and was mercilessly winning.
“Oh Tate, yes, holy fuck,” you moaned with profanity, as he continued his sweet assault on your clit, leaving sloppy, open-mouth kisses in all the right places.
You were determined to keep reading, flicking to the next page, only to feel that telltale knot form in your lower abdomen. Spreading your legs further apart, your eyes averted from your book momentarily to settle on Tate, surprised to see he was already looking at you through his thick lashes.
“You don’t listen do you,” he said with a smile, sinking his teeth softly into your inner thigh.
“I can’t,” you plead, almost tempted to throw the book across the room.
“Yes, you can,” Tate said sternly, pushing the book up into your view again, returning to work between your legs.
You narrowed your eyes as you tried to interpret the words on the page, sinking further into the mattress as you rested your head on the pillow beneath you. You held the book above your head, buckling your hips up to meet Tate’s tongue halfway as you felt close to your release.
When he suddenly pushed a finger inside you and expertly curled it to hit your sweet spot, you almost cried out at the feeling, ready to fall apart under his touch.
“Tate I- I’m cumming, oh my god,” your pupils disappeared into the back of your head as you finally felt your orgasm hit, Tate smiling satisfied against you as he felt your thighs shake and your walls clench around his finger.
He pleasured you through his orgasm, before coming up for air.
“Did you like that?” he asked before his bottom lip caught between his teeth in a smile, his thumb brushing over your clit hastily, causing you to cower away from the sensitivity.
“Tate!”
“Tell me next time you read, I’ll keep you company,” he offered suggestively, a smile spreading across your own face at how presumptuous he was.

I dont know if you watched frozen fever, but if you do, can I request the first years with a fem s/o who has ice magic/powers and she has a fever/cold, and whenever she sneezes, cute little snowmans appear. Like what do they do or how do they react.
-- ! how to make an appropriate title 101 with naru. while i haven't watched frozen fever, i do get the gist of what it was about and what you want me to do with this request! apologies for the late response, but i hope you like it! // the sole reason why this was kept from my inbox purge was because i was already done with ace and deuce's part.
Tumblr media
✧ first years with a s/o who summons tiny snowmen when having a fever
✧ gn!reader
✧ this is an old request, but upon re-reading the entire thing after i was done writing i realized i didn't use a singular pronoun throughout. so we sticking with the gender neutral reader here too HAHA. also not beta-read we die like how i let this blog die for a whole ass year.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
✧ Shrieks a tiny bit the first time you sneeze and his head is suddenly freezing cold before seeing a tiny snowman topple down from his head - real confused for a good few minutes after, to the point he actually forgets you're the one that conjured that tiny being up.
✧ Stares at it for a couple of seconds, owlishly blinking at the sentient tiny snowman running around in circles before directing his gaze towards you: "You didn't tell me that your ice magic could also summons snowmen upon you sneezing," he remarks, sounding oddly offended about not knowing that detail.
✧ "N-No," you sniffle, "It usually doesn't happen unless I'm getting a high fever," you wheeze, another sneeze resulting in double the amount of snowmen appearing and Ace just stares trying to figure out what the hell is happening.
✧ He's worried for 0.5 seconds before his more mischievous side comes forward: "Oh, so those come out whenever you sneeze?" he asks, just to clarify his theory - to which you who is just a bit too delirious to notice any hidden motif he has, nod without thinking twice.
✧ Like, he sees that you're fine! You may be running a bit of a high fever soon, but you're still fine! You're going on about your days with tons of tiny snowmen following your trail whenever you sneeze, but other than that you're perfectly fine! He'll do his part as a good boyfriend after he's had a bit of fun seeing this unusual side effect from your magic.
✧ Tries every trick in the book to make you sneeze more often when he finally has you tucked underneath some sheets inside your room. Accidentally claps two books together that have accumulated just a bit too much dust your way? More tiny snowmen. Tingles your noise a tiny bit with a feather out of affection? Even more snowmen, and you want to be mad at him, but he's having this dorky smile on his face with a slight blush as he picks up another snowman. "Sorry, sorry! They're just so cute!"
Tumblr media
✧ Deuce is rather ashamed to admit this, but the moment he set his eyes on those little snowmen appearing out of thin air when you first sneezed - the fact that you were running a high fever was forgotten. Completely gone from his mind, every worrying thought about your condition had suddenly vanished from his head.
✧ Over the moon seeing those tiny beings trail behind you. Ecstatic when he picks one up and the others just jump on top of his body like this is the happiest he is at the moment, nothing can make his day sour now that these little guys are around him.
✧ "Is this the reason why you try not to get sick so often?" Deuce asks, arms cradles full of the tiny snowmen that you conjure up whenever you sneeze and you can only give a defeated nod in return: "They disappear after a while, but if I'm sneezing left and right it's almost an unending snowman army."
✧ Becomes oddly attatched to every tiny snowmen you conjure up. You don't know why, he doesn't know why either. All you two know is that whenever one poofs away after a while, he gets sad and now you're the one consoling him even when you have a fever.
✧ Sadness is only there for a moment though before he picks himself back up and starts to take care of you: "Sorry, they were just so tiny that I couldn't help it. Come on, let's get you back to your room so you can rest properly."
✧ When he finds out the tiny snowmen try their best to help you too he's just so damn elated. Tries to give them small tasks and just smiles at them fondly when they try their best. You find it nice that Deuce isn't overly worried about you and causing a ruckus to the point you omit the tiny detail that every thing that the tiny snowman deliver to you, arrives freezing cold.
Tumblr media
✧ Oh you're cradled up in his arms and off to his room the moment he even sees your red nose and shivering self. No he does not care if it's in the middle of the day and you both have class, you're not taking another step or standing up for another second.
✧ Literally halts in his tracks the moment he sees the first snowman appear when you sneeze. Eyes wide and blinking numerous time as he tries to process what the hell just happened, "I- That, is this normal?" No, Jack. It certainly is not normal.
✧ Vaguely listens to your explanation as he hurries towards the mirror hall and towards Savanaclaw, but every time you sneeze he stops to pick up any stray snowman that doesn't land on either you or him - What if you eventually need them to be absorbed back to get more of your magic back? "That's now how it works," "How would you be 100% sure? You rarely get sick as is."
✧ Keeps a mental note on the amount of snowmen that appears whenever you sneeze and where they scurry off to after they've toppled to the floor while taking care of you.
✧ Besides from the mental counting of snowmen he doesn't really try to touch the little creatures, they're made out of snow after all. Sure they can take quite a long fall to the floor or bounce on the bed whenever you sneeze, but they're so... small? He feels like if he just grabs their body they'll just evaporate from the warmth of his palm alone.
✧ You only laugh at Jack's hesitant face once the snowmen he has tried so hard to avoid touching just start to crowd around him, trying to jump on top of him to climb further up his torso. It's a nice pace of change, seeing your lover who usually runs around from dawn and lifting weights try to be so gentle with magic snowmen.
Tumblr media
✧ The first snowman that's summoned from thin air and onto your head is in the middle of potion making class. Epel quite literally shrieks when he notices the snowman roll off your head and topple into the cauldron and drops everything he's currently holding to catch it.
✧ Which was the two beakers with other components for the current potion you were making, the shattering noise immediately alerting Crewel. However before he could even start to reprimand, it only took one mere glance at your wobbling self before he directed his gaze towards Epel who instinctively hid the snowman behind him, "Take them to the infirmary, puppy. They're one minute from falling all over the floor."
✧ And it is with that remark that Epel snaps his head towards you, stepping over and pressing the palm of his hand over your forehead, "Yeah, ya burn' up." he mutters, quickly excusing himself before pulling your weak self out the door. The snowman left behind scurries after the two of you when faced with Crewel who only raised an eyebrow up at it.
✧ He's not having a good time. While he tries his best to drag the barely consicous you to the infirmary, he also have to get a hold on every snowman you summon with each sneeze before they scurry away and wreck havoc. So safe to say, Epel has seen better days.
✧ Has half a mind to gather them and chuck them into a basket and zip it shut and another half to just observe them and see what they do. The former won the moment the two of you entered the infirmary and you let out a number of sneezes, which prompted more snowmen to appear and almost destroy the entire room.
✧ Does feel bad when he comes back to the infirmary after going back to the dorm to grab a few snacks to see a few more snowman appear and just try to pull the string open. Nonetheless, you awaken to Epel peeling off an apple, with a few of the snowmen sitting inside a bowl with a few unpeeled apples, "It took some time, but I eventually figured that they just wanted to help, so now they're just keeping the apples cold for me. Here, have a bite." he ignores the look of utter confusion on your face at the snowman on top of his head.
Tumblr media
✧ Utterly appalled. Absolutetly flabbergasted. Disappointed that you, his lover, can not take care of themselves like he can. Barges into your room to see your sniffling self on the bed with a look of utter disappointment.
✧ "And here I thought you were one step above your other brethren the others with you rarely getting sick! And where do I find you right after thinking that? In bed! With a fever! How typical!" He huffs, pulling the sheets away from you despite your weak protests. He is utterly shocked the moment he sees the amount of snowmen jump away from your bed and out through your bedroom door the moment he pulled the sheets away from you, staring at the small creatures scurrying down the hallway of Diasomnia.
✧ "And to make matters worse, you hide tiny snowmen in your bed?! I cannot understand how you humans think!" You do not have the energy to correct him. But before you can get up and try to get those snowmen back into your room, Sebek is already pushing you back down to bed with a scoff, "You are not moving a single muscle until I allow it! Now, I know the young master is strong enough to handle some weak human magic, but I still need to ensure his safety, so wait here!"
✧ And he's off to worry about Malleus after lecturing you. After fuzzing about Malleus for a good half hour, the fae dismisses him with the loud thought of: "Wasn't [Name] feeling a bit sick this morning?" to remind your lover about your condition.
✧ Hence he barges back into your room and interrupts your short nap with a tray that's filled with warm tea and some soup. He scowls at the numerous of snowmen that's running around your room, setting the tray down on your bedside table before he gathers them all up and throws them inside a basket you had lying around in displeasure. They've made enough of a ruckus for a day.
✧ "As weak as you humans are, I would've believed you would still be able to take care of yourself sufficiently enough to not get a fever," he huffs, handing you the warm tea for you take a sip of. "I suppose I can give you some credit for trying to not get sick often, because these?" he starts, raising an eyebrow at another sneeze from you, and before the snowman can even topple down onto the bed, he's already grabbing it and throwing it onto the basket with the other snowmen, "Are quite frankly annoying to deal with." he huffs, picking up the spoon and taking the bowl in his hands, "Now hurry up and drink this soup so you can lay down while I prepare some wet towels."

The worst thing about bpd is you almost never know if you should trust your own emotions. Am I experiencing a Normal amount of sadness in response to this? Am I experiencing an Okay amount of anger in response to this? Is it okay to cry right now? Should I be experiencing This Emotion instead of That Emotion? Is this emotional response appropriate or do I look/sound crazy/manipulative? Would a non-bpd feel this intensely upset in response to this, or is the intensity of this distress a bpd symptom?
When you can't trust your own emotions you can't trust your own judgement. This person hurt me, should I stop talking to them forever or is that Too Much? Does the Punishment suit the Crime? You might ask a non-bpd person what they would do if they were in your shoes, but theres plenty of non-bpd people who honestly aren't good at making these judgements either!! Theres plenty of non-bpd people who are so emotionally unintelligent that they basically are just as incapable as you of understanding What They Feel. It sucks.
A bpd person will be lucky to find someone they can place their faith in to help them observe and decide if their feelings and actions are appropriate. Most of my family have problems like mine so I've realized I can't turn to them for this specific thing. They can and will tell me I should feel evil and guilty if my emotions/actions are Inappropriate which is Unhelpful. I can, however, depend on the most mellow, level-headed person I know; my girlfriend, whom I'm very grateful for. A good therapist is probably another good option for other bpds.
Disclaimer, *I'm* not a therapist and I dont claim to have any real education or knowledge about bpd or emotional unstability or whatever else, I just wanted to talk about maybe the most important realization I've made as someone with borderline and has had to deal with borderline family for my entire life.

Hi! Thank you for blessing us all with tlp :) it’s such a cool au and I like it a lot!! I have many thoughts about it so I’ll start writing them now:
With Donnie being raised by Big Mama, the change in dynamics with literally everyone is interesting to think about, so of course my brain has latched onto the concept of how Donnie’s dynamic with his own brain (his neurodiversity/autism) effects his relationships with himself and his family.
(beannary note: putting everything under the cut so this doesn’t get too long)
Comparing Donnie’s relationship with his own neurodiversity in tlp to canon makes me so emotional you have no idea…..in canon he’s never had a need to mask, living in the sewers with a family who accepts him for who he is, so he has difficulties doing so when needed; we’ve seen him in situations where he is unable to mask/act “socially appropriate” (the mystic library episode comes to mind - he can’t control the volume of his voice when he gets excited. Also every single time he is put in a situation where he has to lie but he is comically bad at it. Also the many many instances in which he is shown being unable to ‘read the room’). But in tlp he seems to be masking a lot, either when he’s interacting with Big Mama’s guests or with Big Mama herself (your Masking is Hard comic comes to mind instantly - how Donnie has a hyperspecific role to play as Big Mama’s Son and the pressure to not only be sociable, but be sociable in a way that meets his mother’s expectations. Its a lot to handle, acting a way that doesn’t come naturally to you and no matter how many times you go through the motions you feel as if it doesn’t get any easier and you dont know why). Tlp Donnie can mask far more convincingly than canon Donnie, but only because he’s had to mask frequently throughout his life. It seems to me like he’s been taught at a young age that he needs to stop acting so “weird” (for example, stimming in obvious ways), because that kind of behavior loses its cuteness fast with Big Mama & most of the company she associates with. I imagine lots of his behaviors are discouraged as he grows up because they’re “not cute anymore” and he’s “not a little kid anymore” and he “needs to learn some manners/self-control” even though everything “weird” Donnie does feels like so natural to him, even as he gets older. Although I do think Donnie has instinctively coped with this by making his stims more subtle (this is where I get to be self-indulgent and imagine his stims - humming, tapping his feet, fiddling with any object he can get his hands on, blasting EDM in his headphones etc), and he only pulls out the big guns (aka big stims) when he’s in his own room with the door closed (or when he’s locked himself in a bathroom stall and physically cannot hold himself back anymore).
Unfortunately for Donnie I also figure that this amount of masking makes him more susceptible to meltdowns. In canon Donnie has so much freedom and control over his own life that the only time I can remember him being even mildly close to Meltdown Territory is during the Todd Scouts episode when his tech was taken away. And even then, he immediately knows how to cope with the change by Creating with whatever tools he is able to find, his brothers just accepting his absence as he goes MIA to build the things he needs to make himself feel better (like the wooden battle shell). But in tlp au does he even know how to cope in healthy ways? Does he get to go MIA for long periods of time so he can pull himself together and prevent a meltdown from happening? Oouuggghh I just want him to be happy :( poor guy feels as if he has no control over his life to the point he develops an eating disorder, he absolutely has no idea what a healthy coping skill is. I’m torn in between concepts for how he processes his neurological differences - either he goes the “autism? don’t be ridiculous, everyone feels this way” route or the “I am astronomically Different from anyone else I know. surely this is just due to my superior intellect and not a developmental disability of any sorts”. Either way this dude is not connecting any dots nor processing any emotions in a healthy way. (Now that I think about it, while Donnie lives with Big Mama, his unique and different skillset are probably what he clings onto to feel needed and useful to his mother, so the latter makes sense for him during that time. But the former makes sense when the concept of Different scares him, when it’s not just intellect and fixations and tunnel vision but sensory issues and social awkwardness and repetitve movements, things that very clearly separate him from his family and make him less of the Perfect Son he is expected to be.)
Another thing I’d like to ramble about is Donnie, his autism, and his relationship with his brothers and his dad….you mentioned in an ask that he doesn’t know he’s autistic but that may change when he starts living with the Hamatos. This made me think about how Donnie’s brothers react to his autistic traits in canon versus in tlp (assuming that no one knows that Donnie is autistic; they just know that his brain works Differently than the rest of theirs). In canon, Donnie has lived with his brothers for his entire life. His brothers know his habits, his preferences, his sensitivities, his moods, etc. He may be Different than the rest of them, but not so much that they think about it for more than 5 minutes. Donnie is their brother - any “weird” behavior is not too different from how how he usually acts. Donnie may be weird but they all are in their own ways and it’s not a big deal to them. His brothers are used to accommodating his needs and dealing with his moods. However, in tlp, Raph, Mikey, and Leo don’t know him very well yet. They’ve never lived with him before and when they do accept Donnie into their home as an Official Brother (a development I’m very excited for), they also can’t help but immediately recognize the stuff that makes him Different from the rest of them (if they’re the ones that recognize that it could be autism, than it’s Differences in a way that’s Familiar, if that makes sense). Differences that aren’t just unhealthy habits and mindsets from his previous shitty living situation. Obviously they can be accommodating but it would understandably take longer to adjust simply because they’re not used to Donnie’s specific quirks. They don’t know right away what makes him uncomfortable, or what textures he prefers, or why he moves and talks and acts the way he does. It’s a learning experience for everyone.
As for Donnie and Splinter….they make me so emotional!!!! Your art of the two of them is so so good and captures that emotion. When Donnie lives with the Hamatos, everything changes. Anyone would have difficulties adjusting to this huge change, but I imagine for Donnie it’s a lot harder. How do you cope with leaving your mother, your only family member you’ve known your entire life? And now suddenly he has to stop being His Mother’s Son and become His Father’s Son, another role he has to create and adjust to (he doesn’t realize yet that his father doesn’t need Donnie to try to be someone he’s not - he loves Donnie unconditionally, just the way he is ;-;) because having a role to play is familiar to him, the only familiar thing he can cling onto during these huge changes in his life. Unfortunately though it just makes everything more exhausting, not only coping with the move into a literal sewer but trying to act like a perfect son for Splinter. Donnie doesn’t know yet that he doesn’t have to mask in front of a parent or meet impossible expectations to “earn” parental love and approval. Meanwhile Splinter sees how Donnie acts with his brothers (much more casual because Donnie doesn’t feel as if he has to “impress” his brothers the way he has to with a parental figure) versus how Donnie acts with him and thinks he’s doing something wrong, that he’s the one giving off an impression to his new son that he has to suppress his stims or say the “right” things or do stuff that makes him uncomfortable because he thinks it’ll make his parent happy…..but I have faith that this pressure eases with time, that they get more comfortable around each other the longer they live together. Eventually Donnie won’t be hesitant or embarrassed to take off the mask in front of his father. Maybe one day he’ll get rid of the mask around his family entirely!! Either way I’m excited to see tlp Donnie’s journey :) thanks for sharing your au with us!
HI THIS IS BEANNARY SPEAKING NOW wow this was so much and im sooooo glad that you are enjoying this au! And for real its so flattering that you like?? wrote all this about my silly au this has actually been the only thing that I could think about since you asked if you could send this in and yeah it’s just really nice to see that people like my comic and this little separated au that i dreamed up
One of the big differences between canon donnie and tlp donnie is tlp donnie’s ability to mask really well. When he was a kid, a lot of his stims were cute and adorable so Big Mama didn’t like encourage them? but let him you know stim freely since she thought it was cute, but as he got older and he kept on stimming in obvious ways she started really hounding him to stop. I do really like the idea of donnie starting to stim in more subtle ways, and im definitely going to try to incorporate that in some of the comics! He still needs to stim, because you know of the autism, and so he does tap his feet and play with whatever little object he can get in his hands when he’s in public. His room is his one safe space where he can really be himself, since its the one spot where he’s not being watched by anyone (his safe space isn’t his lab because what he does in his lab is highly controlled by Big Mama so while he does like being in there and getting to do his science, he’s still pretty on edge since he never knows if his mom is watching him or not). Donnie really loves spending time in his room, though he doesn’t really get a whole lot of time there by himself since Big Mama has filled his schedule with as many extra curriculars as possible so she can show him off all the time). But speaking of his room it sure would be bad if something happened to it! Sure would be bad if it was destroyed in some way thereby destroying his one safe space! Haha! ;)
And no! Donnie does not know how to cope in healthy ways! He is very good at figuring out when he is about to have a meltdown and at figuring out a way to subtly get out of a situation so he can go recuperate somewhere in private, but even then, he can never spend a whole lot of time to himself because if he ever disappeared for an abnormally long amount of time, it would draw attention to himself and more specifically to these meltdowns that he’s having and he really wants those to stay off of Big Mama’s radar since if she knows about them then that’s one more thing for her to criticize and then it’ll be even harder for him to deal with them with his mom now being aware of them. And yeah he does know about autism but he’s still like no it simply could not be me but in that way where he’s like 99% sure he’s autistic but is just refusing to acknowledge it so he can keep on pretending to be ‘normal’. if that makes sense alksdjfh
Living with the Hamatos is going to be very hectic and scary for Donnie just because of how different their home is from his current home. In tlp, Raph also is autistic im pretty sure idk I might change that as the comic progresses but at this point that is what im going with but just havent had a whole lot of time to develop, but that’s part of the reason why the hamatos are so accepting of Donnie, its because they’re already used to living with a sibling who is autistic so all of this is second nature to them, it’s just normal and that really throws donnie for a loop because he’s so used to walking on all these eggshells making sure to act as allistic as possible 24/7 only to be suddenly dumped into an environment where its completely normal and accepted for him to just be himself. And sure it’ll be a learning curve for the hamatos because like obviously not all autistic people are the same but it’ll also be a learning curve for donnie since he’ll finally be able to relax and figure out who he is without having to hide himself all the time.
Donnie and splinter’s relationship is what im really the most excited to write about. I really want Donnie’s experience leaving Big Mama to mirror Splinter’s experience. And I really don’t want to spoil too much but Donnie is really not gonna like Splinter much at first, and it’s gonna take a while for Donnie to warm up to his dad, but also Splinter is going to be the most understanding of what Donnie is going through because well, Splinter also left an abusive relationship with Big Mama. I dont really want to say much more about their relationship because I dont want to spoil the good angst I have planned but I’m really excited to explore their relationship more!!!!
Also just for the record I have not like proofread any of this so there may be typos or maybe i said something dumb so just lmk and ill fix it aklsdjhf Im not autistic (or am I! I havent been to therapy in a while and I would not be surprised to find out that I am autistic or that I have adhd or something else) so lmk if i said something stupid or phrased something in a dumb way and I cannot emphasize how fast I will fix it
Ok bye now!!! this was fun!!! and thank you for sending this in!!! Idk it just really warms my heart that someone out there is thinking about this silly au this much, makes it feel like all the work ive put into making this comic is worth it :)

the perfume hobbyists guide to ACTUALLY smelling good all day
everywhere you hear "layer this!" and "over spray THIS much" which to be quite honest can be overwhelming and sometimes smelling good doesnt mean being a walking cupcake scented bioweapon.
a lot of tips fail to account that nose blindness is a thing when you overload on fragrances and some people are more sensitive to smell and theres nothing worse with layering too many products and giving yourself a headache because you cant escape the smell.
soap/body wash
smelling good truly starts in the shower! i suggest starting off with an unscented/lightly scented body wash. goats milk soap is amazing so is african black soap, but if you tend to sweat more or you have more body odor (esp if u have anxiety) i recommend the lume acidied body wash ive noticed that it does really well in sensitive areas!
this is optional but after washing with an unscented soap this is the time to go in with your favorite body wash whether its cupcakey or fruity or what have you.
hygiene
quiet as its kept you can apply deodorant to more sensitive areas! just keep it non scented. lume makes great all over deodorant and all you need is a small amount and you can apply to the creases of your thighs, your butt and the underside of your breasts to help prevent odor!
hair washing
def go in with your favorite shampoo and conditioner in this stage as scent really clings to your hair and this will be important later on! just dont sacrifice hair care for fragrance!
hair care
if youre black you know the power of good smelling hair products, most hair care is scented so go with what you normally do
moisturizing
this is truly the step where you should begin building your scent. i recommend a base of unscented lotion (cetaphil is my favorite in the original + the cocoa butter version) because unscented lotion allows you the chance to offset and future fragrances and even allows you to decide how heavy you want your scent to be that day. if you wanna go for a lighter, intimate smell then just stick with unscented lotion.
if you want a larger sillage and more longevity then go in with a scented lotion but apply this on top of the unscented as fragrances tend to be more drying. victorias secret and bath & body works have great lotions for layering because they can be easily separated into fresh, fruity, and vanilla/amber lotions and as long as you have that bases you can layer with pretty much anything.
body mist
for a longer lasting scent try finding the body mist version of your perfume however ill admit: i dont like body mists when it comes to layering and ill get to that in a second!
but if you cant find the body mist version of your perfume i recommend looking up the notes of your perfume (fragrantica is queen for that) and match your mist to either the top or base notes (if you have strawberry/raspberry in the top look for the appropriate mist, if you have any sort of musk in the base good for a white musk mist etc. or if you want to create something complex you can mix a freshie with a white floral for instance)
perfume oil
my PREFERRED way to layer perfumes is a perfume oil, and the best thing about oils is they last longer and dont need to be strictly matched the way body mists do.
perfume oils are best applied to the pulse points and since they're oils, the skin doesnt eat them up the way it does a mist and it'll last you literally all day.
this is also where - if its in a dropper - you can apply to the ends of the hair just be sure to spot test to ensure it doesnt irritate your neck or back.
egyptian musk smells good under every perfume and if ur black the beauty supply is the place to go for oils (but you knew that already)
perfume
this is where you can really go for it. the general rule of thumb to create a good (but not offensive) scent bubble AND avoid giving yourself a headache is spray behind each ear, back of the neck, both the wrists and behind each knee. if your more sensitive to smells i suggest back of the neck and behind each knee so the smell takes longer to travel up and can dissipate a bit! you can also spray your hair brush so you can comb the fragrance in your hair.
Overall less is truly more when it comes to perfume! You want people sniffing the air when you leave not dropping to the floor from an assault of the senses

for as much as i support whatever the hell furries are doing and im sure its all fine i really have never in my life understood it- and i have actively tried, like put effort into trying to see the appeal- which is fine. not for me, and i wont understand, and thats just how it is with some stuff
for a year, i was abroad for school. i kept in regular contact with my family of course, but by nature of being so far away and also just because its not how conversations work, i was never 100% aware of what everyone was doing. for instance, my little sisters are always getting into new stuff and hobbies and whatnot, and i was probably privy to only about half of it, whereas im usually aware of at least 80% of it if im in the country
the point of both of these statements is that i came back from a year away to spend an extended amount of time with them to catch up a bit and make up for lost face-to-face time and they immediately bombarded me with furry terminology. they had both gotten into warrior cats while i was gone, and are making fursuit heads. which is fine thats pretty normal 11yo behavior all things considered but theres few greater shocks in your life than sitting with someone you do not at all associate with that sorta thing and having them look up to you with their big trusting "youre my role model for some reason" eyes and go "do you have a fursona?" and having to swallow the strange discomfort you associate with the term while also trying to process that they know what that all is AND try and categorize the information you know on the subject into "age appropriate", "not age appropriate," "stuff they probably know anyway regardless of whether its appropriate or not," and "stuff i can try and relate to them about this" taking points. all fast enough that you dont hesitate too long and can formulate a nice, encouraging response. also youre on 13 hours of jetlag
"no i dont, but i know what that is. do you have one? can i see? "

was there ever a moment where laios accidently hurt chilchuck, because that could happen when a very short person dates a very tall sometimes or maybe in their first adventures together (i havent finished the manga yet but i dont mind) - 🐿 anon (starting to sign my asks with this since i already sent some and dont want you to be uncomfy :[ )
dw anon i'm not uncomfortable!!! just kind of reeling about multiple people wanting to talk to me this way. like wow... is this what it feels like to be respected......
i do appreciate a signature though!! for context if nothing else :3
given that they knew each other for 3 years before the start of the canon story, i think there were a lot of opportunities for laios to not really appropriately judge his own strength relative to chilchuck's size. like, he traveled with dandan for a bit both when he started out and when he and falin started their own party, but i don't think laios and dandan ever got especially close. chilchuck, by virtue of being a party staple, was more likely to be interacted with physically.
in those first 3 years i'm sure he chewed laios out at least once for being a clumsy oaf and causing damage, but like... laios would be so upset. and once chilchuck made it clear that he wanted laios to fuck off, he'd go mope about being a bad person while falin healed whatever happened. so after one or two such times, chilchuck would realize just how deep laios's remorse was and begrudgingly be more forgiving. at the same time, laios would learn to be careful.
by the point of the canon story, chilchuck trusts laios, even if he doesn't tend to admit it. that doesn't mean it won't still happen, but laios is also so gentle when they have any reason to physically interact, so it's not usually something he specifically did that causes harm. (like in chapter 56, how laios himself didn't lay a hand on chilchuck even though his advice got chilchuck hurt.)
once they're in a relationship... that opens up whole new avenues of injury. laios is so gentle, but chilchuck kind of doesn't want him to be, and as it turns out he can take more than either of them might have thought, sexually speaking. still, if laios DOES go too hard, chilchuck really can't prevent the downward spiral that results. so it's less "you didn't do anything wrong" and more "okay, well, we know that's not gonna work now, so let's approach this differently going forward". and some mutual comfort.
hornybrain says chilchuck can take it all and take it rough, but even with a more realistic approach, i think he learns to be communicative about his comfort level and they both work out what feels good and what feels bad. and if chilchuck sometimes doesn't communicate because a certain amount of pain is fun for him, well, don't let laios find out.
other than that, living together invites opportunities for stepping on toes, getting trapped when laios rolls over in his sleep, affectionate roughhousing that needs to be adjusted for their size discrepancy... laios never stops feeling bad when chilchuck gets hurt, but they probably work out a system where chilchuck gets to smack him if it happens. honestly, it's more for laios--he feels less bad about it if they're "even". (and chilchuck really cannot damage him much unless he's trying VERY hard to.)

Ok you know what i just gotta write out my feelings on the new Miraculous movie. I have both good and bad things to say. I will be rewatching it cause i was pretty biased (we'll get to that) and maybe reposting this with my new thoughts afterwards cause this is a lot.
THUS: READ MORE AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION and understand that most of this is based on personal perception, preferences, and an element of nostalgia/frustration (ive been watching this show since season one, would not have made it this far if I didnt have FEELINGS about Miraculous). but take everything with a sprinkle of salt.
THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS ABOUT THE NEW MIRACULOUS MOVIE UNDER THE CUT
1. Pacing felt like the biggest issue. A lot of stuff was happening, and a lot of big moments were happening, but there was nothing inbetween that made them feel like they flowed into eachother, and a lot of the character/relationship "development" relied on the viewers previous knowledge of the show, even tho its pretty clear the movie was doing stuff very differently in terms of characters and relationships. Do i understand this is a 1hr 40min movie trying to encapsulate the slowburn romance and 5 seasons worth of content in a way that caters to the fans of said 5 seasons? Yes, its a huge ask for what is essentially 5 episodes (average 20 mins long). Especially with the amount of exposition the concept of Miraculous requires. Is it still disappointing, considering the movie left out information because of its audience and still rushed through important stuff to just get to the "juicy" moments? Yeah
2. Visuals were lovely, as was the music and specific moments. Honestly if the pacing wasnt such an issue and everything was developed more, the Ladybug and Ladynoir songs (maybe even the Hawkmoth one too) would be really enjoyable as a way to progress stuff and show development. Im also a sucker for dramatic visuals during musical numbers to help emphasize the feelings/emotions of the characters, and it really showcases the potential benefits the animation could add to the show as a medium
3. I actually really liked movie!Marinette (partly cause she wasnt a stalker and creep about her crush on Adrien) qnd because she had a much more sarcastic and bantering attitude, even outside of the costume, which made Ladybug an alter ego more than a complete other person (which is a slight issue ive had with the show). The scene of her growing into her civilian persona and becomign more confident actually made me really happy, especially her standing up to Chloe
4. Movie!Chat Noir kinda pissed me off ngl, and felt very disconnected from movie!Adrien (or at least how he was shown). People have said movie!Adrien is much more depressed/isolated and acts appropriately as to his home life (and dont get me wrong, i loved his scene where he stood up to Gabriel), but i think thats why his relationship with Ladybug and complete 180 as Chat Noir feels so off to me? Like his almost "meanness" with Ladybug at first from being super cocky and then doesnt even apologize for his treatment of her even after he falls for her just throws me off (tbf ive always been biased against the "cocky assholes falling for people who put them in their place" trope, so this might just be a me thing). Idk, it just doesnt sit right with me
4b. Anyone else notice Adrien didnt even get chosen for being kind? Plagg just appeared in his bedroom? Like Marinette almost got ran over from saving Master Fu and then Adrien is just like Yo A Cool Ring. Idk, its funny but that felt weird to me
5. The stupid freaking montage. Yall cannot even imagine how much I hate the montage. If they had replaced the montage with one scene and maybe cut down the magician and mime fight to add another scene in to focus on marinette + adrien friendship and then adrien personal life development or chat noir + ladybug bonding/respect for EACH OTHER i think it would have elevated the movie to new heights. The montage essentially was the movie pressing fast forward x3 on any development of characters. Its because of montages like these that make me appreciate filler or fun episodes in any show, because when you just stick a montage in then you feel like youre watching coworkers kiss when the movie is trying to convince you theyre starcrossed ride or die lovers. Made me feel like i watched the origins episode and then the season 5 finale with just the stormy weather 2 episode inbetween. Hate it.
6. Movie!Tikki has personality and movie!Plagg is a fart machine. I think its clear theres a favorite. Feels like it reflects the focus on Marinette and lack thereof on Adrien as a character present in both the show and the movie. Hardly a new observation, just food for thought.
7. ¿¿¿¿¿¿movie!Hawkmoth/Gabriel???? That basically sums up how I feel about him but to explain theres just very little done with him i feel. Plus it seems like all his Hawkmothing around actually takes a toll on his wellbeing, which is really cool and interesting, but it just comes out of nowhere afTER THE STUPID MONTAGE. Like id love to see the kind of degradation of his health, mental physical and emotional, as he works to revive Emilie, cause you cant tell me thay wouldnt make stuff a lot more interesting (i know he got catacylsmed but the show just treated it as an outfit change and checking his arm like a clock until the season finale, so it doesnt really count for me), but mans just shows up looking like a wreck and fights with Adrien
7b. Also i was pretty confused about how him breaking/rejecting his akuma at the end of the movie worked, and him just having all the powers ever while akumatized?? But that's just me being picky at a superhero show where magic animal jewelry exists
8. Movie!Chloe and movie!Sabrina felt more real in a way? Like Chloe was just stuck up and self centered, not actively making everyones life hell, and Sabrina didnt just blindly follow her along (i ADORED when she let Marinette escape and when she shrugged at her during the ball, you go girl you have that personality and self-consciousness the show never allowed you to have until the last moment), it was more a reluctant follower ignoring a friend's red flags ya know? Movie!Chloe wasnt the mayors daughter who had control over every adult in Paris and would literally become a dictator if elected. She was just freaking out at Marinette for "ruining" her sweater. Shes still a bully/mean kid, but shes dialed back, which i think makes her much better.
9. Alya and Nino were just kind of chilling, i dont have any feelings about their characters except how terrible Nino is at advice, and Alya was set up as a good friend throughout the movie, so i appreciate her supportiveness of Marinette. Tom and Sabine were set up to do more/be more important in the movie (I was so sure Tom was gonna be akumatized at the fair, but nope), but were kind of dropped halfway? Like Tom was set up as the overprotective and loving kinda helicopter father who would go all the way to the fair in disguise to watch over Marinette, and then he was just never mentioned again after Marinette felt embarrassed by him at said fair. Wasted opportunity and time for a movie with so much issue in pacing
10. I saw buggachat say this movie felt like an animated fanfiction of MLB and I have to say i completely agree. I dont mean that in a bad way, i love fanfiction with all my heart and you can clearly see that the movie and a lot of fanfiction fixes the issues many fans have with the show. But the thing is, this is a full movie, not a collection of one-shot specific scene rewrites. Thus, for it to be successful in "rewriting" or creating an alternate version of MLB, it has to include those in-between moments, not just the juicy identity reveal, or the "my heart belongs to another " moment, or even the "Gabriel actually cares about his son" moment. Is the movie good at those moments? Goodness yes. It definitely has its humor, its enjoyment that you can tell is a gift to the fans. But as a movie, a whole animated film, it disappoints.
10b. I mean for goodness sake they didnt even mention that Catacylsm was a thing until it was used, and Lucky Charm wasnt utilzed at all, just the fixing power (that might just be a genuine change they made so Ladybug wasnt too unbalanced with Chat Noir tho)
OK IM DONE, phew. Those are my major thoughts from the day after watching the movie, and im going to watch it again more carefully later. Ill not to be so personally biased and to just enjoy it. Who knows, maybe ill think differently afterwards.
Definitely gonna listen to the songs again, and definitely gonna burst out laughing at Careless Whisper tho

If this is not uncomfortable to answer to , may I ask what's your view on Lilith?
I see a lot of opinions being shared left and right by people on tumblr and while I don't support appropriation, nor I have any interest in her as a religious/ mythological figure, your post about her sparked some curiosity inside me in terms of her being viewed solely as a monstrous entity.
I honestly don't take any myth or story about deities, spirits and so on as being 100% true. These stories are still written by humans based on their experiences, the way their mind works, their bias etc. The child killer Lilith can absolutely be a way trough people tried to explain why their children were dying, considering that during those times we had no advanced medicine and diseases were much more harder to treat and prevent.
This is pure genuine curiosity, do Jewish people approach Lilith? Are they truly that scared of her? Do almost everyone believe she is the reason why children were dying in the past ?
I frankly believe that no religious/ spiritual text holds the absolute truth of all that exists or the truth of the being/ race of beings that it is talked about in it. Humans always tried to explain (especially in the past ) why things happen by involving divine/ unseen forces, when most of the times it was just a normal phenomena that was way too hard for them to understand so boom a monster/ god must have been the cause.
If someone had a bad experience with a specific entity or they don't like what that entity represents, of course they'll paint them as a monstrous creature.
Jewish people and Jewish beliefs aren't a monolith, so there's no real answer to your question. People have a wide range of opinions about her and how much they "put stock" into her stories. The way you've described it here sounds like you imagine most people take all of this extremely literally, though, as if we missed out on learning about SIDS alongside everyone else. I'd encourage you to think of it less as a literal-fictional either-or binary and examine how the myths and the science feed into each other!
More to the point maybe though, the interpretation of her as ANYTHING other than purely malevolent is very modern. Doesn't mean valid or invalid, but it's VERY important to remember she maintained this reputation for thousands of years and it miiiight be a bad idea (even from a scholarly perspective) to assume everybody got it wrong bc they just didn't like her until the last 50-60 years. To many people, that's like putting a pretty pink bow on a wild boar.
You're not going to find ANY traditional Jewish folklore/practices that treat her as anything other than malevolent. (If you DO manage to find one from before say 1950, I will eat my kippah.) This has been her role for literally thousands of years. I'm fine when Jewish folks participate in feminist discussions about her and reinterpret the works within this context with regards to how she's played a role in our cultures, but I DONT like when gentiles then co-op these discussions to go "Yeah she was ALWAYS a feminist #icon, (((they))) just got it wrong because they're just a bunch of backwards chauvinists 💕"
From what I've seen most of the backlash about people romanticized her comes from people just wanting to adopt the feelgoody vibes from the latter. The one where she's totally #unproblematic and anything troubling can be explained away, ignoring her massive amount of historical context/90% of everything ever written about her.
SOME Jews will work with her, but most of the ones I know stay far the hell away from her. There's no such thing as a Universal Truth, but people earn their reputations for a reason.

Hey Pip, thanks for sharing what you do about your brain journey! Was wondering if you have advice about being able to lessen the amount of feeling Bad that someone has the wrong idea about you. I know it's not their fault and I'm not mad at them, and I don't want to talk to them/bother them further about it. My feelings are my own deal, valid in their intensity but not needing to inform forward action. But in the meantime as I work through them, they sure are hard to hold! Any thoughts?
This is one of my toughest things. I struggle with this SO MUCH. Especially with ex-friends or people whose opinions I respect who... don't... feel the same way about me, lol
General distress tolerance stuff helps (grounding, breathing exercises, ""self care"" w/ sensory tools etc) but what helps me the most is to seek reassurance from the people in my life who I feel DO know me and have an accurate view of who I am as a person (including my flaws!!!) obviously one has to be careful about how to ask for this reassurance bc you DONT want to place that responsibility onto people without like, their consent? Or put too much pressure or make them feel like your self worth is dependent on their responses. But like "hey I'm having a rough time rn would it be ok if we talk about it and can you reassure me about some stuff and help walk me through this?" as a question to the people in your life who you're comfortable with and trust, is an OK and appropriate request, I think.

i dont know if youre really on tumblr anymore but im curious about what you would think of the following;
im an autistic american and ive begun working on an idea for a short film. one of the main characters is an autistic korean-american teenager who's a second generation immigrant. do you have any tips for how i could accurately depict her as an autistic asian-american? her story means a lot to me
uh, hello, long time no see! First of all, thank you for asking question although I have been inactive for such a long time. Also, I appreciate that my existence came into your mind when you were looking for the resource for your story building.
That being said, I am not sure if I can give the appropriate answer for your question; although I studied abroad for quite a while, I was never an immigrant. I went to other country alone when I was in middle school, and spent most of my time in the dorm. after graduating, I came back to Korea and got a job. Basically, my experience is far from immigrant. Still, I will give my best based on what I saw & heard about asian-american immigrant. but please make sure to cross-check with other reliable sources, too!
Usually, first generation immigrants have to spend all their energy getting used to different cultures, languages, and systems. and while doing all of that, they have to bring home the bacon as well. They are very down-to-earth and hardworking; They will not be able to make it in new country if they don't. if there are other family members-especially their kids-they have to take care of them as well. They might face problem that they would never face if they had not left. (in fact they always do.) because of tremendous amount of work they face, they may compromise less significant issues, such as um... having fun, accommodating their wants, and bonding with their family members. This may cause burnout, neglect, or over-management of their children. They may want some form of compensation-because what is the point of leaving their home country and putting all that effort if they don't get anything from it? Their way of thinking and values may be fixed where they left
Now moving on to kids' side, who may be 1.5th generation immigrant (moving in with their parents) or second generation immigrant(being born in moved in country). For 1.5th generation, they are likely to remember their homeland's culture & struggle to get used to new environment, just like their parents do. They almost always miss Korean foods, places, and friends-everything they left behind. However, they tend to adapt much faster than their parents do, which makes them help their parents' work, such as making phone calls, reading documents, helping their business. If there's younger second-generation sibling, then they have to become translator between their parents and sibling as well. As a result, they become aware of their parents' effort and sacrifice, and tend to be more mature than their age. They may also feel like they do not completely blend in as second generation do.
Second generation immigrant, however, are oblivious to their original country. They think they are American, and think their parent's home country as foreign. Unlike their parents & older siblings, Their struggle may be focused on relationship between family members, since their values are foreign to their parents, and vise versa. Katy in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings would be perfect example of second generation immigrant.
to write about more trivial & Korean-specific, Most Korean immigrant community centers on Korean church, so Korean immigrants tend to find local Korean church although they do not actually believe in god.
Oops... it got way longer than I expected. NOW moving to autistic part.
There are quite a few parents of autistic kids deciding immigration (generally to US or Canada) to access the resources(special education, therapy, etc.) for their children. Usually they decide it as soon as the children get diagnosed, so most of them would be second generation immigrant. if they are verbal & old enough learn languages, parents would rather decide to stay because it might cause regression in their language development.
Parents are well aware of the cost of such resources in US; although it is excruciatingly expensive to access them, many parents just appreciate that they have the option in first place. In Korea, there are 192 special schools. Only 30% of students with special education needs (this does not include ones with "mild" disabilities!) attend to special school. Most of them is far from residence (approx. 30 min to 1 hr by car) because of NIMBI. People HATE building special schools because they think price of their housing would fall if such institute is near. Not only the scarceness of the resources are the struggles of parents of autistics, but there are also negative perception of disability in general(especially developmental & mental one) in Korean society & obsession to normalcy. Koreans want to be normal; not only themselves, but also others as well. They are sensitive to what and how others eat, use, wear, and act. They continuously question themselves and judge others based on their own standard of normal. Perform any strange moves then you will immediately get an attention. Same goes with parents with disabled children. Would like to talk further about this topic but let's get back to the point since I would need another tons of research to write. Anyways, for parents, as long as they have enough money to consider immigration, it's more logical to decide to move to US to get resources.
so the school part and such, you can probably write the plot based on your own experience. I expect that it won't be much different from yours. For parent-children relationship, though, Korean parents tend to consider their children as their extension. They tend to prioritize what they think is best for their children then what they actually need. Parents doubt if their children would be able to be on their own even though they actually can. This manifests as distrust of their children's decisions and actions, and this is usually the main conflict with family members.
I'm not sure if this is helpful response for your story, but hope this post helps to get some idea to some extent!

Incoming med-Ed rant:
Okay to preface, I generally like my classmates. I think we are all trying and I know that racism is really hard to combat and some of the more “casual” or implicit biases are trickier to even see in yourself. The student I’ll be calling out is usually a very kind and supportive person to all races and I think she legitimately didn’t realize this was kinda racist.
My class does well on exams compared to other cohorts. We are usually the top of all 6 campuses and about 4-5% higher than the school-wide average. This only comes out (typically) to 2 questions more than the average. This isn’t great discriminatory power- but it’s a trend.
I’m all for celebrating success, but today it got to the point where it felt more like pushing down the other cohorts/campuses rather than recognizing the factors that help us succeed. One thing I feel strongly: my success ideally should never come at the expense of another’s. There are times where success is based on comparison, but I want to see us ALL reach goals and do our best and learn etc etc. It is one reason I hate applications (eg the process of applying) so much- I don’t see myself as any more (OR LESS) worthy than anybody else.
Anyway my class was talking about how well we do in comparison and why other cohorts don’t match us? And so I reminded them of two things: one, my cohort studies a lot and it’s p/f so other cohorts may have different priorities, and two, we have ESL students. I know one in in a large city campus, pretty sure another is in another smaller campus, but I don’t know them all nor do I expect to. I just know they’re there.
Anyway after I mentioned ESL students, somebody then said “maybe in the larger campuses but not like, [smaller campuses].”
So ofc I said no, actually, I think there is an ESL student in [smaller campus].
Here is why I’m so annoyed by this: the implication when you don’t know the other campuses is that a smaller more rural campus couldn’t have an ESL student. 10% of the population in the area this campus serves is Spanish-speaking, idk what percent of that is Spanish primary but it’s a good amount that speaks Spanish. It just seems a little racist to assume that these people wouldn’t be going to our med school at all.
I get not knowing and expecting, given demographics, that it’s more likely to have ESL students in the “big city” cohorts. But don’t assume. “Do you know if there are ESL students in the smaller cohorts?” Is a more appropriate way of asking. Because it an ask, not an assumption. I joke that my assumptions are “usually correct,” but that’s because I DONT MAKE THEM. Statistics may tell us who is more or less likely to have a given characteristic, but it doesn’t tell us anything definitive about any single person or even sample. You can make a hypothesis, but the key to a hypothesis is that you stay entirely open to other ideas if the evidence fits.
Honestly, it’s more than just the language assumption made here, too. It’s the association of the marginally higher test scores with intrinsic factors and this kinda refusal to acknowledge that it doesn’t make us somehow “better.” The point of p/f is to give us room to make mistakes and use mistakes as learning tools, reduce the stress of comparison, reduce the stress of medical school in general… and to remind us that’s it’s okay to not be perfect right now. But my cohort‘s success so far- which I love for them in principle- seems to be inflating their ego.
I’d also like to say: I like that we are thinking about WHY we do better, and I think that even if it’s a marginal “better,” it’s a good idea for faculty who design curriculum to ask, is there a reason for this? Because if there is and it’s actionable, we could implement it on other campuses. Eg, if the adjusted slides our block lead makes really are more effective, then the entire school should get them. If we consistently, even if subtly, outperform with certain subjects, maybe our lecturer who gives those talks could record their lecture and that could be the basis for others, or the main points and pedagogy could help us teach our faculty to better teach. If it’s just something like we study more, meh, that’s also doesn’t matter. But I HIGHLY doubt our class is just blanketly like, more intelligent. 🙃

so since @bitchthemed tagged me on her post i guess im coming back from my hiatus for a sec to list my six albums ive been listening to a lot lately. ive allowed myself to only list one album from each performer as to not embarrass myself too gravely. hdsbhds. still embarrassing myself here because i dont have that much of a diverse or interesting taste
1. Because the Internet by Childish Gambino
Tumblr media
(sorry that the gif is so small compared to the other album covers btw. i just wanted it to be a gif and this one is of a satisfying quality) literally listened to it when i saw the email notif. what a great album istg. its really interesting musically, it has a particular plotline (that i sadly havent payed that much attention to that but im planning on focusing more on that in the meantime) and a lot of lore behind it and im so excited to dig into it. its really interesting considering Glover's acting / directing history (actually, interestingly enough, i started getting more interested in him as a musician only after watching Community, where he played). one of my friends got that cd as a birthday gift and since then i kinda went back to listen to this album more. its really, really interesting, both musically and lyrically. one of my favourite albums in general (although that will be a trend here. i keep on relistening to my fav albums these days)
2. Folié a deux by Fall Out Boy
Tumblr media
i wore my folie a deux tshirt two days ago so i really really had to listen to it. it was my fav fob album back in middle school and man it still holds. makes me feel very. free and maybe angry but in that joyous way. more. energetic rather than angry i guess. it both reminds me of a particular time in my life and just sounds amazing. ive read a tumblr post abt it so im not gonna ask the question of why was it badly received back in its time but yeah i cant help but disagree with past fob fans. its. probably still my fav album of their? although its hard to decide. infinity on high and from under the cork tree are both similarly close to me (with a slight leaning to infinitys direction) and both could probably be on this list as well if not for my selecting choices
3. I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love by My Chemical Romance
Tumblr media
sigh. is anyone surprised that mcr is here. i liked them for some time now (started during the first pandemic i think?) but since foundations of decay got released and they toured and their concert in my country was getting closer i started REALLY getting into them. like downright obssessing. bullets was the hardest to like as a newbie but over time it really really grew on me and ive come to appreciate it a lot. things that felt a bit too rough to me before have uncovered their beauty before me and the roughness feels appropriate considering the subject matter. it also has a couple of songs that feel really appropriate considering the teenage angst im going through these days. sidenote: other mcr albums that couldve been here are three cheers for sweet revenge and the black parade. man. beloved
4. Razzmatazz by I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME
Tumblr media
what a truly original sound. idkhow captured me by the. weirdness? the quirkiness of its topic, and as i was joyously singing along to songs about murderviolence and whatnot i was subtly dosed with an unimaginable amount of softness hiding beneath. truly a heartwrenching experience. its still a joyous listen and 80s (? im guessing. im not a musical genius, sadly.) vibes are. yesss
5. A Fever You Can't Sweat Out by Panic! At The Disco
Tumblr media
yes i know panic just below idkhow is a pretty ironic choice. but we're not talking abt brendons endeavors here. that album is so beloved to me. i really like the. uhh. victorian aesthetic of it? sorry i have little to no idea what im talking about. i do like the aura it builds, a vibe. lyrically its a feast, i wish i could wield words like Ryan does. i used to hold a feeling of guilt related to this album (and mcrs three cheers for sweet revenge) because it reminded me of a person i hurt. i dont really feel that way anymore and i only feel excitement when i listen to it now. what an album!!!
6. Born To Die (The Paradise Edition) by Lana del Rey
Tumblr media
so this one is a bit of a reach because i havent been listening to it that much that recently but i kinda mostly. listen to my biggest playlist on loop and also i didnt want it to just have fall out boy and my chemical romances discography in random order. anyways, i have a soft spot for this album. it reminds me of my childhood (oof thats a sentence) not because i relate to the experiences that much but rather because i listened to it a lot when i was like. twelve? thirteen? before you call social services, english isnt my first language and i didnt really. get that deep below the surface. i was just. noises nice d-_-b. anyways. yes yes i know problematic romanticising whatever. i like its main character okay? sometimes you just listen to a girl that is Unwell and you nod and say "so true bestie" despite not relating at all. say whatever you want about lana but this album is a vibe and it stays dedicated to it
uhhhhh i am now realising how long my post is compared to juleses. sowwwyyyyyyyy
im supposed to tag people but honestly i wouldve tagged only my dear mutual ania @dictatorgoddess69 and since prev post did that already its kinda. pointless (still tagging because idk. hope you dont kill me ania)

ive already decided all the weapons for the bkids but i am unsure if i should go for 5thgen ONLY for the specifics or just . EVERY MH GAME  which would defintieyl expand my options a bit but theres like........ 500 MILLION Monstesr and therefore 500 M IL L IO N  AR MOR SE TS  and i wouldnt know whatto choose :(
but for the bkids weapons:
egbert: hammer. duh! don’t think i really need to explain this one, but shes the type to go utterly berserk once the monster’s been downed from a stun. has cleared the entire area of mizutsune, theyre all too afraid to fight her (hehe.. me) she lands a LOT of ko’s and is infinitely frustrated by the fact that you need to SHARPEN a HAMMER. WHO NEEDS TO SHARPEN A HAMMER??! ITS A HAMMER GOD DAMNIT
dave: longsword. again, duh! dont think i really need to explain this! anime loser boy, it feels appropriate. he’s the type to waste his gauge on helmbreaker in world and didnt learn till iceborne that theres more than one charge level on it. i haven’t played longsword much so i wouldn’t know a lot of the specifics but i think he would deliberately always go hit the head just to knock everyone else over cause hes a bitch like that
rose: this one is really tough, im stuck between dualblades, cb, and ig, but i think i have to go for db!
Tumblr media
come on. shes totes a db user.
funnily enough she reminds me a lot of the stealth dango dualblades in rise ! i would say she’d use those but i have a feeling she would think they’re too silly.
again i havent played much of dualblades but i think she would be one of the More Sane dualblade players, she doesn’t roll down the backs of monsters that often and makes sure she gets the ACTUAL  most damage out of an attack rather than doing whats cool (same thing with IG cause i know aerial attacks aren’t that powerful! atleast from what ive heard)
jade: lbg and hbg! but dabbles in other weapons (especially hunting horn) as well. she’s one of those insane motherfuckers that sets down an affinity booster and goes ham. decimates the monster in 10 seconds flat then carves like nothing happened. great to grind with, but when you’re really just trying to have fun i feel like she would end up going too fast
anddd for the alpha kids cause i just thought of them
jane: gunlance or greatsword! gunlance is known for poking and.. i guess that’s like forkkind? i LOOOVE gunlance and even though im not really good at it its very fun to play and it reminds me of jane :D AND GREATSWORD!!!!!!!!! it feels like almost every greatsword user (except me im not cool) is either SUPER DERANGED or SUPER CHILL or like... BOTH but not in themiddle. like a combination AND SHE TOTALLY FEELS LIKE IT.  she would fucking KILL with strongarm stance in sunbreak she is the one person in the hunt to land SO MANY KO’S AND PARTBREAKS that it honestly becomes concerning. takes a long time to charge up (she thinks focus is an un necessary skill) but its always worth the wait!
dirk: again with the anime longsword boy. except he’s like..really good atit unlike dave. hes pretty humble about it for the most part but GOD FUCKING FORBID he knocks anyone over (which he does) (alot) . he never says anything but anytime theyre all grinding for decor he is telepathically urging them all to get flinch free just so he wont screw up their attacks. his favorite monster is scorned magnamalo and i should kill him for that but i wont. im nice
jake: hmm hes a toughie! i’m stuck between lance and sns (bowguns go without saying duh) lance is totally a Page weapon but sns is a Jake weapon...... maybe he switches between the two who knows! he tends to over-judge a monsters attack and block too early or too late half of the time and is a corner healer (i think thats the term. the people that huddle off into the corner to heal from an attack while everyone else is in the middle of the battle) but he means well! he does a pretty decent amount of damage but most of his skills are health/defense oriented and he DEFINITELY has earplugs.
Roxy: SWAXE, INSECT GLAIVE OR LIGHT BOWGUN. she hasd so many fucking mods i think either her pc blew up 3 times or she got banned from multiplayer even tho im p sure mods r allowed in multi  . shes specil. she totally got introduced to the series via stories 2 and is the MOST into it out of everyone else on this list. she probably knows how to hunt in every single weapon but just so she isnt flexing she only plays swaxe and ig most of the time.......... she is SUUUPER fun to hunt with
