very cool! i especially loved the tech and holo stuff, maybe you could do more :3 like cmd text input page or something vaporwave. can't wait to see what else you make!
you. youre a genius.
ysee i DID start out at vaporwave years ago, like, in 2018, but then i dropped into the black neon mix of outrun stuff ridiculously fast, and, obviously, ive been staying here as you can see. but now that i can make patterns i think its about time i try to touch again the pastel mixes of that genre again- plus its trivial like. theres the rgba split node for example. if i split the channel and just nudge each aside then merge again i can have fake 3d rainbow effects, which was one thing i commonly used for my vaporwave art back when i was strictly drawing and didnt know sustance yet, and then i can nudge That with the hsl node if i want diff colours than a RGB glitch look and, say, drag it towards CMY instead which is more typical of the pastels of vaporwave. also imho the normal node generates a pretty vaporwavey colour scheme, and. as you know. i am not above misusing the fuck out of this program *glances at the poor, poor hald clut and 3d cube gbuffer nodes*. i think i also can use dir warps to simulate glitches, with greyscale stripes of random widths at the same angle as the dir warp. i also have yet to test the text node. so like. thanks ! im getting a fuckton of ideas per second so thisll be :eyes:, i wanna make palm trees stuff for example, overlapping w gradients. i also had attempts at circuit generators previously, i need to fix these and keep looking for solutions for these to. yknow. really look like circuits.
Tumblr media
an idea for these is to stop trying to have em be going in multiple ways and instead pick One, like, for example, im thinking horizontal, so then i can use horizontal offset and shift around each row and Boom cool circuits and all. (im lowkey using this post as notes for myself dont worry if you have no idea what the fuck im talking about). i have many others really but. ngl im also partly basing this on this One texture i made in CSP that looked cool
Tumblr media
it is *egregously inaccurate* when it comes to how circuits work, but... rule of cool ??? still. that said yeah in the Real one id like things to be a bit more realistic/believable to anyone who ever saw a real circuit.
ill try to do things this afternoon/tonight ! i have stuff for my queue up to thursday so expect the test runs to start showing up past that ! you can DM me off anon if you want me to show you wips in private and discuss more ideas, ngl i am super excited, thank you !!

it takes me a bit but I started recognizing AI art with ease and it bothers me that I do

I don’t know if you’ve answered this already but how do you draw your poses so fluidly?? A lot of my drawings seem stiff
First off your art most likely isn't as stiff as you think. Sadely you have taken interest in the art of making art therefore you've been cursed like all those before you with stiff-ism. I swear all artists think their art is too stiff. I think my art is stiff. Artists who do those paintings that are all abstract and just squiggly lines you ask them "How do you feel about this piece" They say "Hmm little stiff." Lol. But to answer your question it really just takes time. Fuildy in your art comes from confidence in your art. Confidence comes from doing something a lot so often you do it well. Some of that is pure muscle memory. Training your arm (or wrist though you should discourage leading with your wrist because the range of movement is lacking so you can crutch yourself) to make smooth sweeping lines is like working out any muscle it just takes practice. Some of that is honing your "Eye" which is mainly having the mindfulness to notice how weight flows, pools, and moves in the world, other's art, and in your own art. When I say in the world you study real life when you walk about you see how a dead fall dry leaf curls in on itself having only a tiny section of its being in contact with the sidewalk. While a wet freshly plucked leaf is face plastered almost stamped on the same sidewalk. When I say other's art you can see and understand the choices and placement of movement. And can reverse engineer the same choices with various results (because it's one thing to understand but to do is whole another thing mainly because you' don't have the same muscle memory) When I say your own art you are mindful enough to locate the problem points. We've all times when we look at a piece and are like it's stiff but can't qauifty why. Eventually, you'll notice patterns and weak points in your work that you can choose to work on if you want. Lastly you think it out. Just think about the cause and effects of forces on your piece. The jacket on your subject is stuff with all manner of things that one would keep in a bag so it's weighed down so you'd make a long narrowing U where the pockets are. Thinking it out also will help dictate your line weight which is a lot of how fuild lines feel Tho it will become second nature as you mature as an artist. All of these get better with time and experience now you can do line drills to help with your muscle memory, you can do life studies to help your world eye, you can take tutorials to hone your other's art eye and you can have other's criquite your work to help expose problem points. Or you could just draw it will come in time slower but you will improve. I hope that was some what useful and I wish you the best with your fluidity in your future pieces :)

So I'm on of those people who enjoys a good "art style challenge" videos. Looking through a lot of different "styles" of art, I've noticed a sort of spectrum that slides between two points.
Stylization and Rendering.
I've made this handy blob to to visualize this spectrum.
Tumblr media
Stylization to me is the design of something using shape language, proportions, details vs simplicity, and exaggeration or lack thereof. It slides between Semi Realism: being more based on reality, Semi Abstract : based more on shape and exaggeration, and Stylized: having a basis in reality but takes artistic liberties to emphasize on certain aspects/feelings.
Tumblr media
Rendering to me is the application of form or lack of on a design. Lighting (shade, highlights, rim light), textures, patterns, and lines (there or not). Leaning more graphic or more form based.
No or Low Rendering leans into being graphic. Stylized being some lighting to get an idea of form but not too much to clutter the scene or slow down production. Hight Render leaning on form.
Tumblr media
Here are some examples of how different visual stories fit on the scale.
Tumblr media
Here you can have stylized character designs with different scales of rendering. Stylization is mostly seen in Japanese Anime and those inspired by Disney.
Tumblr media
Same with Semi Abstract designs with different rendering styles. Semi Abstract comes from the UPA shorts from the 50s that really pushed into exaggerated shape language.
Tumblr media
Semi Realistic designs can change with how you render them. Semi Realism is based more on reality.
Tumblr media
Works the other way around with Rendering.
You can have the same amount of rendering but take in a story way different with how a character is designed. Most high rendering is seen in high budget 3D animated features because it would take forever to ask an artist to render this much detail at 24 frames per second. And we already torture animators as is.
Tumblr media
Gradient rendering is seen mostly in webcomics, Korean comics, and illustrated books. Though with Klaus we are starting to see it more in animation.
Tumblr media
Cel Shading is most common in 2D animated series and movies. Gives it more form and gets the point across.
Tumblr media
Low or No Rendering becomes more graphic and emphasizes on color and design.
Tumblr media
I will use Donna from my comic Legend Catcher as an example.
Tumblr media
Same design, different ways to render.
Tumblr media
Same amount of rendering, different ways to stylize.
Tumblr media
This was just some things to think about when looking at and creating art.
Tumblr media
If you wanna check out the process in how I drew all these, check out my Ko-Fi for the video at https://www.ko-fi.com/tessshadowcast
Just some fun thoughts I had. If there are other points to make, let me know!

Spray-Painted Spiders (A PunkFlower ficlet)
A/N: In my day job, I work not far from the Leake Street tunnel, a tunnel in London's Southbank totally covered in amazing graffiti. One day, I was walking through and couldn't help but imagine how Miles might react to the place, and this little fic started to write itself in my head...
Originally I was going to have Gwen and Pav join them, but I decided to keep it simple, just Miles and Hobie, and then it turned PunkFlower-ish ;) How to impress your artistic, graffiti-loving crush, by Hobie Brown: bring him to the Leake Street tunnel :D
Pics of the real tunnel after the fic!
---
Miles' whistle echoed around the walls of the tunnel, every inch of them covered in colourfully-painted portraits and landscapes and swirling abstract patterns.
"So people paint... this whole tunnel?" he asked, gaping at their surroundings. "Don't the cops stop them?"
Hobie shrugged fluidly. The two of them were in casual clothing, spider suits tucked away underneath, and the dim light illuminated the smirk on Hobie's face. "They try," he said. "But we're persistent. Besides, they don't like to come down here too much. It's considered an "unsavoury" area."
Miles was busy leaning back to marvel at the ceiling, which was covered in an intricate black and white design. "Woah, how did they get up there?"
The longer his eyes travelled over it, the more the geometric design started to resemble something... familiar. Something like a series of spiralling, interlocking spider webs. "Did you...?"
Hobie's smirk was decidedly wolfish now. Miles was glad that the dark concealed his pink cheeks. "It could use some flair, I think," he said. He unslung the backpack on his shoulder and took out a can of red spray paint, which he presented to Miles with a flourish. "You up for it?"
Miles reached out to accept the spray can, and their fingers brushed. He answered Hobie's grin with his own. "Yeah, man."
Under cover of darkness, masks pulled down to cover their faces, the two Spiders leapt lightly up the walls and clung to the ceiling. Miles stared at the black and white canvas that stretched out below him. It wasn't often that he built on someone else's work, but this design... Colour leapt into his mind's eye, weaving in and out of the spaces between the webs. He could see it so easily. Mesmerised, and not even aware of Hobie watching him, Miles shook the paint can and got to work.
Hours later, the faint glow of sunrise was creeping into the mouth of the tunnel as Miles and Hobie beheld their completed masterpiece. The webs seemed to glow, highlighted with bright shades of neon green and yellow, while in and around the strands crawled spiders in vivid blue and red. Down the walls, spiders crawled and hid in the crevices of the other artists' work, even scuttling across the floor.
Miles eyed his last strokes critically, adding some pale blue highlights to a hanging spider. It was Hobie's turn to give a low whistle, and Miles looked over to see him nodding slowly in approval.
"It looks good. It looks really good."
Miles thrilled inside, even as he tried his best to play it cool. "Not bad, right?"
He could no longer see Hobie's face beneath the mask, but there was a smile in the older Spider's voice as he answered, "Not bad at all."
Miles took a breath to say something more - and then a shout cut through the air.
"HEY!"
The two half-turned, muscles coiled to spring at the first sign of danger. A police officer stood at the entrance to the tunnel, mouth hanging open. "What the hell..."
Hobie reached out a hand, and Miles took it without a second thought. "Let's Scapa Flow," he said in an undertone, and though Miles had no idea what that meant, he got the message. He squeezed back, and Hobie pulled him along as they sprinted into the dark of the tunnel.
Footsteps sounded and a whistle blew, but the officer was no match for the two Spiders. As soon as they got far enough into the tunnel that they'd be hidden from view, Hobie fired a web and leapt into the air, and Miles followed him. Soon, they were out and swinging through the silvery grey London dawn.
There was no-one around to notice the two figures that alighted on top of the stationary Ferris wheel overlooking the river. Miles was panting a tiny bit from the sudden chase, and with a glance at Hobie, he raised his mask. Hobie followed suit a second later.
"So, d'you like it, then?" Hobie asked.
"Like it? It's amazing. Your world is amazing," Miles couldn't help but enthuse. Playing it cool had kind of gone out the window, but he was too suffused with adrenaline and the thrill of the moment to care. He saw Hobie smile, genuinely pleased.
"You know you can come here any time," Hobie said.
"You mean... like Gwen comes here any time?" Miles couldn't help cautiously checking. Hobie glanced over and raised an eyebrow.
"Maybe a bit different to that," he said. Miles looked at Hobie's profile, wondering if it was the pink glow of sunrise touching his face or something else. He thought he knew what Hobie meant, but he wasn't sure how to be sure. Looking back across the water, Miles was searching for the right words when he felt soft lips press against his cheek.
He turned, surprised, and Hobie drew back a tiny bit, but still so close, his dark eyes searching Miles' features. "Too much?" he checked.
Miles smiled, knowing that he didn't need to find the right words after all. "Just right," he said, and leaned in to kiss Hobie on the mouth.
---
A/N: Scapa Flow = go (Cockney Rhyming slang)
In the real Leake Street tunnel, graffiti is actually legal, and it's quite a tourist hotspot, but since this is Hobie's world I decided to make it a more underground, subversive spot. But I kept the London Eye so that they could have a romantic moment afterwards on top of the Ferris wheel ;)
The tunnel really does have artwork on the ceiling - probably not painted by Spider-people, but who knows :D Here are some photos from my recent visit (the artwork changes every time):

AI-generated embroidery
I'm starting to see more and more AI generated pics of "embroidered" art popping up, and somehow that makes me even more disappointed than when I spot fake paintings. Of course, a lot of creativity and effort goes into any given form of art, and they all have their limitations which inform the end result, but one can, in theory, paint almost anything (at least in digital painting) while there are far more tangible, physical limitations to what you can make a piece of thread do. One of the best parts of seeing a gorgeous piece of textile/fiber art is admiring how well the artist has been able to cleverly utilise and transcend the limitations of working with thread/fabric/roving/etc., and realising how much time it must have taken.
To then see AI "embroidery" that looks very impressive at first glance before realising that it couldn't possibly be real because it defies the very laws of physics makes me sad. Not only did someone want to generate a piece of art they couldn't be bothered to make themselves, but they then looked at the image the computer spat out and either wasn't interested enough in the craft itself to be able to tell how impossible it was or decided that it didn't matter because the point was just to get some superficially pretty content to share with a mostly unsuspecting audience. It's just... a whole new level of disrespect for a craft that is already niche and underappreciated as it is.
There have been posts pointing out what to look out for in generated "paintings" and "photos", but I have not seen any for embroidery yet, so here's a couple of points off the top of my head:
Can you see individual threads clearly? Do they look consistent in texture (like they're spun the same way). There are a few different types of embroidery thread which are spun in different ways and from different materials, but if it looks like one type of thread was used and the threads still look inconsistent, that's a tell.
If the piece seems to be mixed media (e.g featuring beads or fabric appliqué etc.), do the added materials look realistic? Can you guess at what they're made of or how they may have been attached without the use of sorcery? I have seen a few examples of what looks like a cluster of beads at first glance, but when looking closer they've turned out to be very surreal in shape and get progressively less realistic and more abstract the smaller they get. Then there have been details which I've tried and utterly failed to imagine what material they could even be made from, like decorative vines/borders that look more like 3D-printed plastic than thread or metal wire or anything you might expect to find in an embroidery, even with creative material choices.
Does the motif look very three-dimensional? There are a number of ways to create 3D embroidery, but they all have to follow the laws of physics. Where are those threads going? Do they just end randomly? Does it look like a bunch of normal embroideries stuck on top of each other with no plausible edges or methods of attachment?
I've seen at least one example where most of the image was trying to look like photorealistic embroidery, but then there were a few details that simply looked photorealistic as in, "Wait, half of that bird looks embroidered, and half of it just looks like a photo of a real bird?"
As in other forms of AI art, look at details which you think you know what they ought to look like - especially in parts of the work that are out of focus or far from the center, those tend to be less realistic. If, at first glance, something in the background looks like a rose, look again and ask yourself, "Is that really what a rose looks like, even stylised? Why does that petal look more like a weird tentacle? These shapes make no sense. Was the artist just clumsy and made a mistake, or was it designed like that by a computer?"
Humans like symmetry. If there's a border or something which looks like it ought to feature repeating patterns but turns out to just be abstract shapes without any sort of pattern to it, then be suspicious. Same thing goes for motifs which look like they're supposed to consist of a perfectly mirrored right and left part but have unexpected inconsistencies (say, a butterfly or a crown, for example).
Finally, as always: is there a source in the caption? Does it say something like, "[Title of the piece/description of the motif] by [artist], embroidery thread and [beads/metal wire/leather appliqué/whatever fun material]"? Is there a caption at all? If not, there's a tiny chance that the artist just posted it themselves without a caption, but it's much more likely that it's either reposted stolen art or AI art that wants to pass under the radar, or even stolen AI art (if, indeed, one can steal something that was created by a computer based on other stolen art to begin with).
Okay, rant over. Go forth and look a bit closer at images of embroidery in future! You'll either discover that it's an AI piece, or you'll get the pleasure of really taking in the cool details and techniques used by a skilled, real-life fiber artist!

Tumblr media
He called out your name once. A couple more times before looking over to his side to notice that you had fallen asleep. How could anyone fall asleep during a marvelous movie such as this?
Despite how you’d insulted him, his attention was now focused on your unconscious form. Eyes trained on your breathing pattern, the way your arm was slowly failing to keep your head supported, and the way your legs were gradually separating from each other. Even in your sleep, you were expressing how badly you had wanted him at this very moment.
Shu nudged your legs apart, crawling in between your legs and resting them on top of his thighs. He gently moved your arms and placed your head on the couch arm rest, satisfied that you hadn’t twitched a bit. The artistic movie playing in the background drowned out, long forgotten, as Shu ran his long fingers down your thighs. You looked delectable like this, truly a sight for sore eyes. Your body was so inviting. How could he not take advantage of the situation?
Piece by piece your clothing landed on the floor, leaving you bare and all for him to see. His hands moved on his own, feeling up your body so delicately as if you were a fragile ice sculpture.
Shu unbuttoned his pants, unzipped it all the way down and pulled his erect shaft out. The crown of his cock pressed against your ass, resting there as his lips suckled at your skin. Engrossed in his activities, his thoughts piled into his mouth and came out like waterfalls.
“Kagehira does not deserve you, can you not see? I have loved you since the beginning, adored every perfection and imperfection,” He moaned as he pushed his cock in, fingers twitching as the warmth of your walls swallowed him entirely. He’s longed for this moment, and now here you are, being so compliant. “I could have had you weren’t it for Kagehira stealing you away from me. I know you don’t love him.” Shu grit his teeth as his torso hovered over your sleeping body, massaging your inner walls tenderly with the rock of his hips. You’ve made it so easy for him, an opportunity sitting on a table just for him to take. You were a being far beyond the most abstract statues he’d ever observed. Who said it was impossible to have you under him forever, though? You stirred awake from the constant motion, eyelids squinting as you attempted to take in the sight before you. As you registered the length in your asshole, you immediately gasped and made a move to shove Shu. “Shu, what the fuck–” You choked as he immediately retaliated and shoved you back into the couch, your head hitting the hard, couch arm rest. You continued to squirm underneath him, legs kicking to get the dick inside of you to slip out. Shu scoffed, grabbing your wrists and pinned them above your head as his right hand gripped at your throat.
“Shu– stop!” Oxygen was slowly but surely leaving your body, rendering you immobile as the fight inside of you died out. Shu’s teeth flashed as your limbs laxed and your eyelids closed. On the verge of passing out, his hand finally lets go of your neck. You weakly gasped for air, barely registering that Shu had continued fucking you. Only then did your breath hitched as his cock jackhammered into you, working you open with each thrust of his hips.
“Be a good boy and take it. You can do that for me, can’t you?” He purred as tears had already made it past your cheeks.
“Utterly ethereal,” Shu breathed, fingertip brushing your eyelashes to pick up a teardrop. If fucking you just the way you deserved to be rendered you to a state such as this, he could do this forever.

Favorite mikus you've spotted?
There are too many to list!! I loved the DTIYS a few months ago with miku holding a microphone, though! It was amazing to see so many people's styles and designs!!!
I also love seeing people design new outfits for miku based on other media!! Like Pokemon!!!
And when people draw miku as a different body type or from a different culture!!! I think it's really cool that people make so many kinds of miku from so many diverse backgrounds!!!
But I like when people draw classic miku too, or another official miku design!!! I love seeing their takes on her and how they draw her features and what pose they draw her in!!!!
I love when people draw miku in bright saturated colors!!! Or when they draw her in muted colors!!! Or when they use a different color palette!!! Or when they use as close of colors as they can to her official model!!!!
I love when people draw her very detailed, adding extra textures and patterns that the model doesn't show!!! And I love when people draw her more simplified than the model!!! And I love when people draw her so abstract you can barely tell she's miku!!!!!
I love when people draw her while she's singing!!! And when she's hanging out with her friends!!!! And in plain clothing or pajamas!!!!!
I love the super skilled and detailed drawings that had to take hours!!! I love the doodles that took just a few minutes!!! I love when it's clear how much time and effort the artist put into the piece, even when they're still learning and it doesn't look like they wanted it to!!!!
I just love miku!!! And people drawing miku!!!! I'm so happy that so many people draw her!!!!! <3 ^^

talking to a friend about getting back into art and i think the #1 most important piece of art advice i could ever get or give is just "figure out what is FUN to you"
like i think there is sooooo much emphasis on how to build SKILL in art but a lot of it really treats art like a job or like video game grinding, like it's this thankless job that you have to work at in order to reach a Threshold and i know it's not EASY to make yourself have fun but like
imo a solid 70% of the reason i create art is because the Act of Drawing is fun to me. it's fun problem-solving and planning and putting down lines and playing with colors and tools. it's fun to depict little scenes in my head or to create outfits or to find ways to fill the canvas. never forget that creating can be fun. sometimes it's hard and sometimes you have to battle through your own blockades to get there but the ultimate goal should always be to ENJOY it, to find what you enjoy doing and then do it forever. improvement will follow enjoyment.
i think especially with all the debate about ML image generation it's more important than ever to embrace FUN. if you're only focused on the end result it's so easy to get in your own head- to think about what doesn't look good or what skills you don't have yet or to compare yourself to other artists. but photography didn't kill the art of drawing and AI won't either because, simply put, there will always be people who want to do the physical act of making art because it's fun to do! using paints and markers, splashing colors around, doing shitty pen doodles, using the symmetry tool in your art program to do abstract mandalas that are just squiggles formed into patterns. do art like you're 5 and you've been handed markers to pass the time. do art like you're bored in class and you're keeping your brain entertained by drawing stick figure comics in the margins. do art like an absent thing, do art because it satisfies your brain. the goal is not to make something beautiful and perfect, the goal is to make something because your hands need to make and your body needs to make.
#i know and love so many people who have intense anxiety about their ability to create art and who are so hard on themselves about the result#and i think that's a REALLY easy thing to feel because creating is also vulnerable & physically difficult and there is SOOOO much to master#but i think for me the people who churn out 300 colored pencil front facing hands behind their backs oc doodles on lined notebook paper-#are the ones with the right idea. they're the ones i aspire to be like#i'm not saying i never struggle either bc tbh#as someone with depression and adhd there are times where the Act of Having Fun is simply not possible#sometimes i CAN'T enjoy things because my ability to feel joy is locked behind a barrier of my mental illness#so i don't think it's an Easy thing to do by far and I don't think you can just Magically Make Yourself Happy And Having Fun#but i DO think that experimenting in a low-stakes low-pressure manner until you find something that clicks in your brain helps#doing things for the sake of doing them is the only way to figure out which ones WILL be fun to you#not all of them will. some things will feel like a slog#but i think you have to look for the passion before you're able to face the slog#if you jump right into the parts that are Hard and Challenge Your Limits it's easy to spin your wheels and get stuck#but if you focus on the super small stakes and the things that are thoughtless and focused more on Sensation-#the sensory experience of mixing paint or the scratch of pencil on paper or the smooth way a specific pen makes lines-#then you can lose yourself in the physical aspect of it FIRST#and then once you've started really ENJOYING those sensations you can start learning new ways to use them#because now you have the drive to want to do more#now you have the desire to find new ways to apply this thing you like doing#long post#even longer tags#art#drawing#artists#art advice

Some dumbass in the comment section of a youtube vid about how AI Art bros are jersk tried to make the argument that genetics determine talent and I kind of popped of. Turns out the comment thread I replied to is like 200+ comments deep and now no one is going to see my small novella about genetics v talent, so I've decided to share it here...IN TWO SEPARATE PARTS bc apparently it is too long and tumblr cant handle it alskdjflskjdf.
Hi, I'm the genetically gifted artist you're trying to cite for your argument. Both of my birth parents were artists in several fields and despite being adopted by a different family, I know that I've inherited most of their interests and am proficient at all of the things they excelled in; art, writing and performance to be specific. I now make a living as an artist.
You're also entirely wrong about how 'talent' works and how inheriting 'talent' works. What I inherited from my parents were their mental disorders. Adhd, Autism and chronic depression. Autism forced me to be far more observant of my peers if I wanted to have a social life. Adhd gifted me time blindness and the ability to hyperfocus on whatever tasks gave me dopamine, and Autism complimented that nicely with a shock to the nervous system when I was expected to change gears out of what I felt was safe into something I did not.
I had many avenues before me because of this; theatre was what my adopted parents assumed I would pursue. But then chronic depression came in with the steel chair at the end of highschool and no, no I did not do theatre, that shit takes too much energy for too long of a period of time.
So. Art.
Why am I so genetically good at art? Well, and this is again Probably The Autism, I'm very good at recognizing and retaining visual patterns, I'm super interested in body language and costuming and micro-expressions--all things I need to pay attention to if I wanted to be liked by allistic classmates--and drawing quite literally regulates my nervous system, so I'm gonna do it often just to cope.
I don't have a fucking 'artists' gene. I have a brain that is predisposed to certain pattern recognition and through access to resources (GLASSES, I AM BLIND AS SHIT AND WITHOUT GLASSES NONE OF THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE) was able to find and cultivate hobbies that either worked with or helped regulate the myriad of bullshit I won through the genetic lottery.
I'm a good artist bc I put in the work. I put in the work bc my brain is wired to really like certain work. It didn't have to be art. If i were less depressed, it could have been theatre--either writing, performing or directing. If I was less autistic, it might have been something with more abstract thinking and less focused on decrypting human expression and repurposing it in ways that I Personally Like. If I was less ADHD, it could have been more academic studies, like Marine Biology since I really wanted to do that when I was little. If I didn't have exercised induced asthma, it could have been competitive swimming, bc my swim teacher really thought I had a gift for it. If I didn't have dyscalculia, it could have been something that involves number crunching and long distances, bc I don't understand that shit for beans, completely locking me out of a large chunk of possible careers.
And maybe without all of that, I wouldn't have had the perfect cocktail to give enough of a shit to be good at anything. Maybe I would have just been an office clerk, making a decent wage and filling my cubicle with anime figurines.

The painter and their dream
Life is a canvas, and we are the artist. With each passing day, we choose what colors to use, what shapes to create - ultimately, each one of us has the power to paint our own reality.
Meet Georgina. Georgina is a dreamer. She never stops visualizing her future; the colors she wants to use are not just a figment of her imagination, but an intentional design she puts into practice every single day.
Tumblr media
Georgina knows what she needs to manifest her ideal future: perseverance, creativity, and sheer willpower. She uses each one of those elements to build the life she desires, turning the abstracts into concrete results.
Whether she’s pursuing her dreams of being a fashion designer or planning an exciting holiday, Georgina applies all of her skills and resources to make it happen. She sees her actions as brush strokes in a painting that she hopes to be proud of in due course.
Being a dreamer isn’t easy. People don’t often understand why Georgina is putting in the effort when the outcome isn't always guaranteed; however, she refuses to give up on what matters to her. She holds onto the moments when her vision becomes tangible; these moments give her the strength to keep going.
Rather than giving into the fear of failure and disappointment, Georgina boldly focuses on the beauty of the present, and continues creating her masterpiece. Her journey is something to be admired, and we are all witnesses of her creative endeavors.
At the end of the day, we are all dreamers who paint our reality as we go. Life is our canvas, and we have the power to bring our dreams to life if we believe in them enough.
As the iconic American painter Edward Hopper once said, “If you could say it in words, there would be no need for the painting.” This quote gives us an insight into why painting is so powerful—it is a way of conveying what cannot be said in words.
This analogy can be applied to reality itself—the canvas of our lives is blank and ready to be painted each day, with our beliefs and choices about how we live making up our reality. The issue with that is that many of us remain unaware that we have power to create our own reality.
Instead of painting our reality by creating positive beliefs, and taking conscious ownership of what we create, we often succumb to negative thought patterns that paint a reality full of stress and anxiety. On the contrary, when we take ownership of our reality, we become aware of the paintbrush that we have always had in our hands. We can choose to paint a beautiful life—one full of love, wealth, beauty, and joy—if we develop an understanding of how our thoughts and choices manifest in our outer world.
Ultimately, it is our responsibility to take ownership of our reality and to realize that we can paint whatever picture we choose with our thoughts and actions. And although our painting may have blips and blotches along the way, we must always remember that we have the power to choose how our lives look. By letting go of limiting beliefs, and learning how to utilize the power of positive thought, we can ultimately choose to paint a reality filled with optimism, openness and opportunity.
What we think, we become'? Well, I believe it to be true. It's like what Edward Art said, “You are the painter of your own reality. You choose the colors and you decide where each one will go.”
Our reality is like an empty canvas. It's up to you to put down the paint and decide what you want it to look like. Just like a painter takes time creating a beautiful piece of art, we too can take the time to create what we want our lives to look like. It's about becoming aware of what you're creating and acknowledging that you have the power to do so.
So, take a step back. Find some peace and quiet and ask yourself what your reality looks like. Really take a look around and observe your environment. Is it how you want it to manifest in your life? If it's not, take the necessary steps to make changes. Focus on the future that you can create.
Think of it as a puzzle that you have all the pieces to. You have full control over your energy and the thoughts and beliefs that you carry with you. Visualize how the pieces will fit together to create the life that you want. Who knows, you might even surprise yourself with what you can create.
Once you become comfortable in taking charge of your life and shaping it into what you desire, it can become quite enjoyable. Enjoy every step of the process. Take small strides and be patient. Feel mindful energy and set intentions for how your life should unfold.
When self-awareness kicks in, you'll realize that you're in control of creating your life, just like a painter creates his art with a brush and canvas. You will rightly embody your thoughts, but choose them wisely because you have full power and control over your life." This is your own special work of art called life, so live it vibrantly. You deserve to create the beautiful art of what we call this life so why not paint.
I will leave you with one last quote from Edward Hopper: “Someday everything will be beautiful.” He believed in the beauty of possibility—that with the right mindset, anything is possible. So let’s take ownership of our reality and use our paint brushes to create our beautiful painting.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
I got a tattoo today and always wanted to write a tattoo shop au but since I don't really have the time to write a full-on fic right now I decided to write a couple of headcanons 💜
no warnings but it's a bit long so I put it under the cut
Ezra
Ezra talks quite a lot, which makes him the perfect tattoo artist for those who are shy, or for newcomers. He asks an endless amount of questions about the design and urges you to ask questions as well.
His left arm is covered in a sleeve of swirling, abstract patterns that seems to move and shift as they moved. The black ink was contrasted by pops of bright red and deep purple, creating a sense of depth and dimension.
His right arm was adorned with a series of smaller tattoos, each one unique and meaningful.
He has a very light hand, which again, is perfect for newcomers.
Despite his cherry and bright attitude, he will tell you straight whether you will regret the design you chose or not. This man can be brutally honest.
He prefers making and tattooing his own designs but he doesn't mind making shapes you might find on the internet.
Ezra very much enjoys using color and prefers more intricate designs.
He will flirt and tease you, especially if you're shy, in fact making shy people open up to him is one of his favorite hobbies.
"you're doing so good for me"
"just a bit more and we're done"
Cee asks for a tattoo every time she visits but Ezra, saying that she's still too young, draws on her arm with a pen instead. From time to time Cee brings her designs to show him, she's quite talented.
Cee promised Ezra that he'll be the first one to ink her.
Din Djarin
Din is quiet and thoughtful when he works, he prioritizes the comfort of the client and asks everything that needs to be asked.
Before he starts he reassures you that you can ask him anything about the process.
His neck is adorned with a series of interlocking circles and triangles and his upper chest is covered in a series of historical symbols and motifs. You're pretty sure he's covered from head to toe.
He's a neat freak when it comes to his tools and doesn't allow anyone else to touch them.
He might not be talkative but he's excellent at reading his clients; especially when they're not sure of something or if they want something changed before the inking process actually starts.
He enjoys his job very much and finds it therapeutic most of the time.
Din makes his own designs but tends to save them for the people who are closest.
Sometimes he brings Grogu with him (especially when he can't find a babysitter) and he fills with a sense of pride when Grogu watches him with wide eyes.
Like Cee, Grogu also asks for a tattoo, but he's even younger so it's a hard no. He's about 5.
He does have regulars and has been asked out a couple times but usually says no because of both Grogu and his job.
Din works with music, that's non-negotiable. Thankfully for his clients, he has good music taste
I am open to any kind of thoughts, requests, and more headcanons! Send me an ask!

Artist reader & characters of Cobra Kai. Nothing but fluff and gen (mentions of (full+partial) nude art, but nothing specific!), no specific genders for the reader.
Threw in the girls & Ant as well, bc i could and I genuinely wanted to. All of them could be perceived as either platonic or romantic.
Reminder that my blog is male, ftm, enby, masc centric and I do not write for fem readers!
Eli, Miguel, Demetri, Robby, Anthony, Moon, Yasmin, Tory & Sam w/ an artist reader!
Just my thoughts nothing more or less. :3 also they get noticeably shorter the further down you go lol.
— Eli; I think he'd find it cool if you were into drawing and sketching (I don't believe he'd have a favorite style, just random sketches of the most random-est of things does it for him to think you're really cool and talented). He'd absolutely loved to get a peak at the sketches, especially if he catches you sketching something. If you dare to show him a sketch of him either post Hawk or before Hawk he'd ask you if he could keep it with the sweetest of smiles. Also graffiti, absolutely would mess around with spray paint with you.
However he would be a bit meaner just for the show during S1-3 specifically with his macho show of I'm a goddamn badass pretender for the girls. He'd just be basically mean for the laughs but swear he'd also be sweet as fuck to you afterwards and making up for his behaviour. (Make him sit for a few hours and be your model, that'll do lol.) [Side note I think Hawk would be the kind of guy to think about partial nude art but never admit it.]
— Miguel; just in general this boy is fucking bashful and amazed for your skill at drawing. He'd love to breeze through your sketchbooks and ask you to draw something for him. Absolutely anything and he'd cherish it, especially if it was something of him or nature-related. I also think he'd love abstract patterns. I also think he appreciates graffiti and murals!
— Demetri; interested for sure, especially if you're into drawing fantasy characters and settings. He's a comic nerd, he'd love to see your take on some of his favored characters from comics. fanart kind of guy imo. Also if you draw him his DnD character he'd love you for eternity. Just saying :3 (I also believe that Dimitri would have artistic talent as well. Thinking about dates where y'all just geek about your interests and draw, create stories etc.) I also think that Dimitri would love to see scenery art.
— Robby; this man cannot take a pen in hand and draw himself at all imo, he seems like he's a bit lost but he'd absolutely adore your drawings. I think he'd be into scenery and a realistic type of art. For some reason I think he'd be the guy who doesn't exactly get art, but gets joy from watching someone else geek out about a specific piece and tell him about it and the history/background around the artwork. (Looking at Mona Lisa rn so hard) [side note on this guy, he'd absolutely at some point ask about nude art in general.]
— Ant; we know this guy plays DnD as well, he'd be interested in your drawings and love silly sketches especially off of characters related to his interests. Somehow thinking Anthony wouldn't get abstractical art if it didn't have fantasy-esque in it. Just video game art, absolutely.
— Moon; Personally love her character sm down to earth (not really, she seems more daydream type) and interested in crystals, chakras and energies! I think she'd be interested in symbolism within art and just be really really interested in spiritual-related artworks. Abstractical patterning that takes inspiration from a culture? Mythology related artworks? She'd absolutely eat them up and I mean gobble it all up, I also see her as someone who'd do art with you.
— Yasmin; she'd love to see what you were sketching especially if it was her, because I think she would let you just draw her up in different outfits even without asking if you could. [Personally also think she'd be interested in nude or revealing art.] She'd be your model without any further questioning, BUT be sure your up for the task to hear her whine about how long it's going to take and just be cheesy with some memes. (Koff Koff the popular french girl line.)
— Tory; now I don't think Tori's much of an art girl either, but she'd love to see your sketchbook like the others and watch you draw. However this doesn't by any means rule out graffiti, she'd be up in a second if spray paints and graffiti was mentioned imo! I also think she'd have an eye for scenery and murals artworks with abstract types of art.
— Sam; she'd love to see your sketches and artworks as well! I think Sam wouldn't inherently be that interested in art, but she'd absolutely let you rattle her ears off talking about art and such. I think she appreciates scenery art a lot and murals.

Tag game from @wispstalk: post your 9 favorite album covers. Aesthetics, not necessarily favorite albums.
Got tagged by @dirty-bosmer and @skyrim-forever. Thank you, you know how much I love to nerd about music & related topics. All metal this time because let's face it, we just got the best album covers. We wear them on shirts for a reason 😁
1. Cathedral - The Ethereal Mirror
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I actually have a favourite album artist:
Dave Patchett, responsible for those gorgeous Cathedral album artworks as well as the Electric Wizard debut album and, funnily enough, the infamous artwork of Dance of Death by Iron Maiden. However, the band used the barebones prototype, which resulted in Patchett not wanting to be credited.
What I love about those covers is not just their freaky, Hieronymus Bosh-esque design, but also that they come as posters in the actual booklets, so one can really appreciate all the little details.
2. Kamelot - The Black Halo
Tumblr media
I love the sinister undertone of this artwork, befitting a two-album story loosely based on Goethe's Faust.
3. Ghost - Meliora
Tumblr media
This is a cover that warrants a second look. At first it's just sinister in the same way how, at night, some people tend to interpret grimaces into everyday things. But then you take a closer look and see that there's some sort of sacrifice going on.
4. Cattle Decapitation - The Anthropocene Extinction
Tumblr media
You look at this artwork and know everything there is to know about the album, from the topic to the sound. And both punch you in the face.
5. Epica - The Holographic Principle
Tumblr media
Not much to say here; I just love the use of colour in this piece.
6. Ahab - The Call of the Wretched Sea
Tumblr media
I love how this artwork feels like a painting from the late 18th/early 19th century. Also, it's one of those tell-tale artworks. You know this album is atmospheric, brutal, and about Moby Dick.
7. Amorphis - Under the Red Cloud
Tumblr media
This is an album artwork where, the longer you look at it, the more details you spot. At first it just looks like an abstract pattern but then...
8. Subrosa - More Constant than the Gods
Tumblr media
Minimalist elegance compared to the rest of the list, but no less beautiful and very fitting for the album.
9. Pain of Salvation - Remedy Lane
Tumblr media
This artwork fits the album soo well. I love how those people almost seem to interweave, just like their lives are intertwined on the album. I also love how this artwork conveys intimacy despite only depicting two approximations of people. There's also a hint of darkness in there—love it!
Tagging: @elavoria @thequeenofthewinter @miraakulous-cloud-district @littlegalerion @alma-amentet and @nostalgic-breton-girl

[CN] Victor’s 2023 Qixi Event Offline Call + In-game Call + Mail
⌚ No spoiler warning since global server doesn’t get these anyways ⌚
Tumblr media
[Translation under the cut]
•─────⋅◍♡◍⋅─────•
[Anika’s Notes]: Honestly, I’d rather you guys read my twitter thread for this since I added many translation notes I won’t be adding here haha: ♡♡
It’s me, Victor. I’ve found Pudding.
Not sure when, but he somehow crawled into the suitcase, and now came out on his own after waking up from his nap.
Hm, it’s the suitcase we were planning to take to the desert.
Yep, thankfully, although he flipped over the contents inside and caused a mess, the gastronomic map and camping equipment a certain someone had placed in there earlier are intact. So your plans for enjoying barbecue and stargazing won’t be compromised.
The red dress you wanted to wear for taking pictures is also in there. And all those jingling accessories that were tangled together— I’ve properly sorted them out for you.
However, there are now more of Pudding’s toys in the suitcase… and he’s still spinning around the area of the suitcase.
[Pudding meowing adorably ~pitifully~]
He seems to be stating explicitly that he wants to join us for the Qixi Festival.
Whether to bring him along with us or not, let’s decide when you come back.
Tumblr media
【In-game Call】
Victor: Have you left the house yet?
MC: Of course, and I’m already in the car. How about you? Have you wrapped up the meeting?
Victor: Yep, but I also found a certain someone’s new masterpiece on my office desk, and I’m still finding it a challenge to figure out what the original inspiration is.
MC: …you really can’t tell? It’s obviously a cup!
Victor: Sure enough, your self-confidence is not to be underestimated.
Victor: It resembles a vase, it resembles a spray bottle–– but it just doesn’t look like a cup.
MC: Even if it doesn’t look like a cup, the pattern drawn on the surface should still be identifiable, no?
Victor: Your artistic style has always been abstract, and the tree branch next to the chestnut is somewhat satisfactory.
MC: …the paintings on the cup are clearly several skillfully rendered fruits nestled within the grass. It’s quite easily distinguishable.
Victor: Mhm, the blackish blob is indeed “easily distinguishable.”
Victor: Speaking of which, a certain someone mentioned wanting to try out a pottery workshop last month. It turns out she was already preparing this gift back then.
MC: Hehe, the most important value of a gift lies in the sentiments behind it. I’m sure CEO Victor shares the same feelings, doesn’t he?
MC: So, will my gift be a sumptuous feast, or some sort of handmade craft like the one I gave you?
Victor: Isn’t a certain someone usually filled with all sorts of whimsical ideas?
Victor: How come you’re being so restrained during a crucial matter like this?
MC: …! Seeing how you are boasting like this, aren’t you afraid of potentially not living up to my expectations when the time comes?
Victor: I understand the thoughts of a certain dummy better than anyone.
Victor: Even if your expectations are sky-high, I’m confident I can have you giggling all night long while hugging your gift.
MC: Humph, if you can’t achieve this result, then will CEO Victor step in for the gift and let me hug him all night long instead?
Victor: You sure know how to make demands.
Victor: Nonetheless, all of this is contingent on you not being late. Otherwise, it’ll be like fetching water with a bamboo basket – all in vain.
Tumblr media
[Tidbits]: the word cup (杯子) actually has the similar pronunciation to 辈子 (meaning one’s entire life). So, it’s considered a romantic gift among couples to express their emotions of being together for a lifetime~
【Mail】
Tumblr media
“Using handmade offerings to pray for ‘predestined love and marriage’ is somewhat elusive. The wish to never be separated— just expressing it to me like this is enough.”

drawing every day - day 2
I've been really fascinated by the visual arts of the Art Deco period lately - beyond just the architecture, but also how painters depicted folks. From what I was reading, many artists who got tired of doing Art Nouveau eventually transitioned into the Art Deco style - moving from the flat coloration and complex natural patterns into simplifying into much stronger shapes and details, but not to the level of abstraction or simplification of Cubism.
I was trying to imitate a study by Tamara de Lempicka, a Polish artist that was influential in this period - was really drawn by how she depicted people in this sort of simplified and hard-edged but still realistically recognizable way - and was not afraid to lean heavily into using black to define shadows.
