Please help my Cat
Hi, I am True-InTha-Blue. And I got some bad news today... My dear kitty cat Blu who has kept me literally alive through emotional support has Diabetes. The bill is steep as all medical bills are, on top of me moving, I need help with money. This is Blu
Tumblr media
He is the sweetest boy ever. An official emotional support animal. His favorite foods are Chicken, Mangos and Peaches (I am not even joking), he can sit on command and do high fives. He chases night terrors away by purring on my chest when I have them. And he is the bestest friend an emotional wreck like me could ever ask for. I don't like asking people to just GIVE money without something like a commission of art or something... but sadly, I do not have the means right now to draw or write for others. So even if it is just a dollar or two, I would greatly appreciate. I know times are tough for everyone, and even just sharing the post will help a lot.
This is the Ko-Fi link: https://ko-fi.com/dappersnom/goal?g=0
Anything honestly helps. Any money received will go into bills for his vet visits and insulin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you Fun fact: I didn't even named him Blu. My Mum did before she gave him to me... so I, True-InTha-Blue got a cat named Blu.... Meant to be.

Anakin ❤️ He’s doing really good! Didn’t care for the catnip banana after someone else licked all over it though 😹 He said Nope! ❤️ Kazu Diabetes Update - He is doing much better! His numbers are looking a lot better on the spreadsheet. He will be doing a home glucose curve test on Wednesday the 13th. I will post an update sometime after that. Thank you again for all your advice, help, well wishes & support for Kazu ❤️❤️❤️

I'm getting better at jabbing my old cat with insulin twice a day.
The trick is to do it fast and as a surprise. Find the cat (usually lying on the heated floor tiles in the bathroom), do a little tent with her skin, jab with the teeny tiny needle of the pen at the base of that tent, push the button on the pen, hold for a few seconds, then run.
(she has a lot to say, but prefers to try to go away than attack me. Of the two cats I'm glad she's the one getting the medication, because with Balbina it's damn hard to use a dewormer on her skin, not to mention give her a jab of anything. She runs away at the tiniest suspicion someone's trying to grab her. I can't use two hands on her. Except patting her butt. Sometimes.)

Kazu Diabetes Update - Thank you so much for the well wishes for Kazu! ❤️ Kazu is doing ok. Me not so much, I’ve had about six hours sleep in the past two days. He almost had a hypoglycemic incident Sunday night then went hyperglycemic in the middle of the night. I found a Facebook group for help with diabetic cats. I’ve learned a lot of info the last couple days. I have now started home testing which they highly recommended. I’m surprised that my vet did not recommend home testing to me. Kazu has been wonderful with the testing. He doesn’t mind it at all as long as he’s getting some of the pasty treats. Right now my Vet and the Admins on this fb group are giving me some conflicting information. I have a friend that is a human doctor that has dealt with diabetes a lot over the last 40 years she’s going to come over tomorrow and help answer some questions for me and help get a better handle on all of this and how it all works. I’m still going by what my vet says for his treatment. I’m just trying to learn more from my friend so I can ask my Vet better questions and things I may not have thought of. Once I get Kazu more sorted out and feel comfortable with testing him and getting his insulin doses right I will feel so much better about all of this.

🚨Emergency Insulin Request 🚨
Firstly I want to thank my donors:
Special thanks to!
Rachel ❤️‍🔥
Makayla 💗
I have raised $40 despite having limit visibility (since been fixed) I am VERY VERY grateful for everyone who has interacted and donated so far. I hope to raise the full amount today so I can administer my insulin as time is running out. I’m calling for community aid to help me get insulin because the healthcare system failed me
Current Reading:
Tumblr media
I only have $410 left to get my perscription for Afrezza (insulin)
Cash App: $HushEmu
What happens when a diabetic does not get insulin? (I encourage everyone to read) TLDR: DKA which can unalive me.

Oliver's been on FIP treatment for nearly a month, so it was time for blood tests today. As far as FIP goes, his blood looks phenomenal! He's doing fantastic on the treatment. However, I have an answer finally as to why he is still losing weight and having some trouble: Oliver is fucking diabetic.
Tumblr media
When it rains it pours, am I right? So, the good thing is I do have pet insurance and they should cover it, and I have CareCredit to use to front the costs before reimbursement. The bad thing is that I don't know if his insurance will reimburse the supportive care he's receiving for FIP *(a little more on this at the end), and I now have consistent costs I will have to be putting on the card. Not everything is covered for the diabetic care, either way, and I will only get reimbursed for 90% of what is covered.
If I were handling this without the FIP, I would be able to figure it out. Alongside the FIP, though, I'm .. well, I'm worried about how I'm going to juggle both of these. I haven't quite reached my goal for covering just the base expected cost of the treatment, and getting his treatment costs squared away would be a major relief. I'm hopeful I can regain some momentum on this, and deeply thankful for any additional support. I'll be posting some pics and videos of him later too. Now that he's getting his energy back he can help me advocate for him :)
* Re: FIP and insurance: FIP treatment is not covered. You can look it up to learn why. It will probably make you as angry as it makes me.

I dunno if this has been asked yet, but what is the wasting disease condition based on?
Just curious.
Things like cancer, diabetes, and terminal illnesses. Basically, any illness that would cause the cat to become weak and eventually die, but that the cats wouldn't have proper medical technology/understanding to actually identify and treat. Thus the cats put it in the category of "wasting disease" because the affected cats seem to just waste away.

I've had to hand feed Billi twice a day for like three days now and my hands and fingertips are so so sore and tired from using the feeding syringe
These veterinary devices were NOT designed with disabled pet owners in mind, holy shit
The vet is supposed to call today so we can figure out what to do moving forward, whether we continue hand-feeding but with diabetic formula wet food, or try the appetite stimulant again, or what
I've already had to set in my mind, "If her condition gets to X point, then we'll have to let her go" but she isn't there yet. The vets have said that, even if we figured out what was wrong (besides the diabetes and arthritis which we already know about) there isn't much we could do about it at this point.
So I guess I'm just making this post to let y'all know that Billi is now in what I would consider palliative care. We can't cure her, but we're doing all we can to keep her comfortable and happy. Well, as happy as a cat titled "the Belligerent" can be

Kazu has been diagnosed with Diabetes & has started treatment. He had just had bloodwork and urinalysis done the middle of December, because I felt like he was off then. Not his normal, active playing self like Romeo & Quincy. All of that bloodwork and urinalysis came back completely normal. His blood glucose was right in the middle of the range 127. The range is 72-175. So since she couldn’t find anything wrong with him, we just had to wait till he developed any more symptoms. February 16 Kazu started being treated for a UTI. I also noticed he was drinking more water. About 3 days into his UTI treatment I still didn’t think he was right so I took him for more bloodwork and another urinalysis. Thursday 22nd morning my vet called called and said Kazu has diabetes my heart sank. His blood glucose was almost 400. She wanted me to bring him in to learn how to give injections and go get him a prescription for insulin to start asap. Kazu started out getting 1 unit of insulin every 12 hours. It is the tiniest little amount of insulin not even a fourth of an inch. We are also adjusting his diet and probably everyone else’s diet to make things easier and possibly help prevent Kazu’s other two brothers from getting diabetes as well I hope since this seems to be genetic. There is a possibility that Kazu could go into remission since we caught this very early so I am hopefully. Kazu’s went to the vet yesterday morning 2/28 for 9am to have glucose curve monitoring. His numbers still stayed in the low 400s for his first 2 checks then high 300s for the second 2 checks. Kazu was on 1 unit of insulin every 12 hours, now I gave him 1.5 units last night and then starting this morning he now gets 2 units of insulin every 12 hours. He has been really good about the shots. We just distract him with some of the lickable tube treat and he doesn’t even know he’s getting an injection. Kazu goes back for his next glucose curve monitoring in two weeks unless something change. I have been reading and researching a lot online about cat diabetes. I want to be fully educated and able to care for him the best I can. Kazu does act like he feels a bit better so I will keep you posted on how he’s doing! I can’t believe that he also has diabetes just like what happened to Forrest. At least this time I knew what to watch for. It still kills me that I didn’t know what was happening to Forrest until it was too late. I will always feel like I failed Forrest because I didn’t know what was happening. Please send me all the good vibes and well wishes you can for Kazu. This has been a lot to deal with for all of us and especially Kazu.
Xoxo! Carrie & Anakin
Also Anakin is doing great! I’ll post some more pics and video of him soon ❤️

good lord the hoops some private rescues make you jump through to adopt a cat. like I’ve worked in rescue so I understand you don’t want to give a pet to just anyone but you would think I was trying to adopt a human child
