Sweet Pea- Grease Is The Word
Look At Me I’m Sandra Dee
Tumblr media
That evening I'm at Betty's house with the girls plus Kevin. We’re currently trying to catch gummy bears in our mouths
"Okay, I'm gonna try it" Betty says opening her mouth. Cheryl takes some gummy bears and trying to throw them into Betty's mouth
"Whoo" we all yell when she does it
"Okay, can we please order pizza from Little Cicero's?" Betty begs. Toni scoffs a little "guys it's not a sleep over without a greasy pizza. Right Kev?" We all look over at Kevin who's sat on Betty's window seat looking out
"Kev?" I sit up from my position on Betty's bed
"Sorry it's just... working on the variety show made me feel like I was reconnecting with pre farm Kevin” I frown feeling confused
“Long story” Toni says, still making me feel confused
“Mr Honey didn't just take that from me. He made me feel like I was nothing. Like I didn't matter" Kevin sighs looking back out of the window
"You know something that makes me feel better?" Betty says “make over”
"I hear what your saying Betty but I'm not sure
even a makeover will help" Kevin speaks. Kevin's words mean nothing and the girls all take out makeup and wigs. We all give each other a make overs and dress up.
“Everyone try this” Veronica takes out a bottle from her bag “this is mine and Cheryl’s rum. Try it” she hands the bottle to Betty who takes a sip. The bottle is passed around until it gets to me
“Oh no I’m ok thank you though”
“Come on just a sip” Cheryl encourages
“Hey if she doesn’t want to don’t pressure her” Betty defends me
“It’s just we have school tomorrow and I don’t…”
“You don’t drink?” Cheryl asks. I shake my head no “ok fine but your missing out” she goes to take the bottle from my hands
“Ok wait. Just a little sip can’t hurt right?” I take the tiniest sip which causes me to cough
“Should have warned you it may burn a little” Cheryl shrugs
“Hey YN why don’t you try out for the cheer team. We’re all on it” Josie says
“Oh I don’t know I’m not that good”
“That’s ok, Cheryl can help can’t you?”
“I can?”
“Look I don’t want to be a bother so…”
“No it’s fine. You wanna hang with us, you gotta be like us”
“I’m going to wash off my makeup” I tell the girls and head into Betty’s bathroom. When I return though I hear Josie saying some horrible things
“Are you making fun of me Josie?”
“If the shoe fits” Josie says getting up
“She’s just jealous because a few summers ago her and Sweet Pea had a fling. She didn’t want to go public and so he moved on” Cheryl says
“Whatever”
The following day I enter the gym while no one else is in there to practice and stretch. I try to go down into the spilts, like Cheryl showed me, but I get a little stuck
“Hey YN” I gasp hearing Sweet Pea’s voice behind me
“Hi” I feel his arms around me lifting me up
“Since when we’re you a cheerleader?”
“Oh Veronica said I should” I walk away from him, not wanting to be close by him
“Hey your not upset about yesterday are you? Couldn’t you tell I was glad to see ya?”
“Well you could have been a little nicer to me in front of your friends”
“You don’t know them. Especially Reggie. If it were up to me I wouldn’t look at another girl”
“Well it is up to you”
“Cheryl’s having a party Friday night. Why don’t you come with me, so I can make it up to you”
“Fine but you’ve got some making up to do” I say crossing my arms. Sweet Pea walks over to me, he moves a stray hair from my face and tucks it behind my ear
“Hey guys” Josie says walking over. Sweet Pea and I move away from one another
“Sweet Pea my mom said you should come over for dinner again tomorrow night” Josie says emphasising the words ‘again’
“Pea?” I frown “why were you at hers? You just said…”
“I know what I just said. I was only there for homework”
“You know what I can’t wait wait to make a good impression on those cute letterman’s”
“Oh so that’s the real reason your wearing that”
“Don’t tell me your jealous Sweet Pea” I pout
“What? me jealous? I don’t get jealous”
“Fine so you won’t mind me cheering in front of the bulldogs”
“Na”
“Good”
“Good”
“Fine”
“Fine”
“Hmm” I turn and leave the gym.

It Isn’t About Cheryl
You are Cheryl Blossom’s best friend. She thinks you’re mad at her. Turns out you’re not. Sweet Pea x reader / sick!reader
You were Cheryl Blossom’s best friend. You had been since you had taken your very first ballet class as toddlers. Whenever Cheryl was lonely or needed someone, you were there right alongside Jason until… Until. When Jason had died, Cheryl’s whole world shattered. At one point, she even stood on the thin ice at Sweetwater River, hoping to join him. It was the only time she had seen you that angry.
“You are not going to leave me behind, you understand?” You had screamed, while Veronica and Betty tried to get you to be calmer with her. You had brushed them off in angry tears. “No. No! If you go, I go. Do you understand? We are a non-negotiable. You have to know that.”
She loved you dearly and could be a tad bit overprotective when it came to things such as say, dating. Cheryl had wanted you to marry Jason and officially be her sister, something you had thought of as well. Jason’s death had crushed you too, the boy that you loved for years had not only passed away but been engaged to another. You had a brief fling with Reggie Mantle, which Cheryl now wished she hadn’t allowed, then ended up with more tears. Yours. Not his.
So when she met you at your locker one morning, your vanilla swirl latte in hand, she was surprised to see you scrunch up your nose. But you took the cup anyway.
“Thanks, Cher. I just have a bit of a stomach ache. Mom made oatmeal for breakfast and made me eat the entire bowl.”Your mother was a notoriously awful cook and oatmeal was a bland, lumpy food already. Plus, you almost always had a bit of a stomach ache. Stress, nerves, too much dairy. It wasn’t that abnormal.
“My condolences. So we’re still on for the new stunts with the Vixens after school, yes? Then we can celebrate. I’m thinking of a movie musical marathon. Sing-a-long required. With cherry phosphates from Pop’s. My beloved can join us if she wish. If not, it will just be us but that has always been good, yes?”
You nodded. Cheryl smiled. Most people found her to be a bit…much. She worried about over-showering Toni with love, though she deserved every bit of it. You never seemed to get tired of Cheryl though. And you hadn’t hesitated to forgive her when she may have blown you off a few times at the start of her relationship. When she looked over, you were on your phone, smiling at a text message. Ugh. Sweet Pea.
Cheryl didn’t have a problem with the Southside Serpents, Toni was one, after all. She didn’t even have a problem with Sweet Pea, per se. He was a good friend to the girlfriend she adored and she trusted Toni’s judgment but you had taken quite a shine to the boy so she had to be cautious. After all your heartbreak, she had to be careful. Sweet Pea was known to get into fights and react emotionally. While you claimed you and Reggie were friends now and he hadn’t been able to help his feelings for Veronica, Cheryl had no problem allowing him to house all the blame. She looked at you again. Your cheeks were heating up. You were blushing. Were you pale behind the blush? It was clear that you were enamored with the boy. When Toni had asked you to help tutor her friend, Cheryl hadn’t been concerned but now? Her concern was high.
She shared her concern with Toni later that day, as they waited for you at their lunch table. The other Vixens would join them soon, you along with them. Toni shook her head, adorable but unable to see reason. “Babe, he’s a good guy. I’ve known him forever. Besides, it’s none of our business if they want to see each other.”
The conversation was ended when the others arrived. You picked at your lunch, your favorite salad, which Cheryl had the chef make specifically for you. She was annoyed at Toni’s lack of alarm and that caused her to snap at you in a way she immediately regretted but didn’t acknowledge to save face. “Do you still have a stomach ache? We have a very important Vixen’s practice after school.”
“I’m fine. Thanks for your concern,” you grumbled back sarcastically as you took a huge bite of the salad as though you were suddenly starving. This surprised Cheryl, as you very rarely snapped at the girl. Toni gave her a look but Cheryl felt herself prickle. She had taken the time to get your favorite latte, which you barely drank, and to have your favorite lunch made for you. So, even if she was a little snippy, she had earned some leeway. Usually, you would both brush these things off. Instead, you powered through your salad before loudly and pointedly announcing how much you loved it. Sarcasm. Since when were you so rudely sarcastic with her?
The prickles lasted throughout the day until Vixens’ practice. Cheryl watched you from the corner of her eyes throughout the day. When she caught you grimacing and rubbing your temples, she was going to brush everything off as a headache but then Sweet Pea said something to you and you smiled and laughed. Cheryl was your best friend and it was some temperamental boy you were smiling at? Ridiculous. Unacceptable.
“Let it go, babe,” Toni told her as everyone lined up for practice. The weather was finally nice enough for them to be outside. Kevin, Fangs, and Sweet Pea loitered in the stands. The football team practiced on the other end of the field.  It should have been a good day.  Something was going on with her best friend. Were you actually mad at her? Over a silly comment? You always had a stomach ache. It was a thing. Cheryl didn’t feel bad. Not at all. Really. “She’s been weird all day. Sweet Pea asked me if I knew what was wrong with her. Something about groaning or moaning or whatever.”
Immediately, she was filled with worried. Groaning? Moaning? About what? Her? Cheryl knew she should relax. Let it go. Talk to you. Instead, she stepped away from Toni and clapped her heads, calling the girls together.
“Alright, Ladies! HBIC is speaking. Our new routine is fire. Or it would be if you all would stop fumbling. So we’re running it until we get it right. Start from the beginning and go through until my solo. I. E. The only part of the number that is currently flawless.” The girls began the dance as Cheryl stood by the radio. It was a solid synchronized beginning that broke off. Toni and Lisa took the front while you and Veronica were lifted into the air. You were tossed and gently placed down and then the girls made a path for the soloist, who would be Cheryl, of course.  The first run was shaky, which Cheryl informed the girls better be a warm-up. The second run was better but not good enough. Not perfect. Everything had to be perfect.
What surprised Cheryl was that you were dragging your feet. You never dragged your feet, dancing being your first love. Your mother ran the town's dance studio and you practiced your moves until they were perfect. Almost annoyingly so. Cheryl kept any jealousy she felt about your talent to herself because she loved her best friend. When Cheryl went to your dance competitions, she was filled with pride. She made everyone run it two more times.
“We’re getting better but still not quite there. Ginger, your arms need to be straight for the opening move, don’t flail. Veronica, adequate. Betty, try to look…I don’t know, interesting? And your kicks need to be higher and crisper. Get Veronica to help you if you can’t figure it out. And Y/N, get it together, please. We’re the River Vixens, not a charity team.” A stunned silence followed her words and no one moved. Cheryl never snapped at you, she never had to. Your face burned red and you moved into position to start the routine. The other girls followed you. You had a strange look on your face and Cheryl thought she saw tears in your eyes. Still, she hit play. She wasn’t even watching the girls, instead watching you give your all but still seem….off.  When the girls tossed you into the air, you missed all your marks. When they caught you and placed you down, you froze causing Betty to bump into you. You stayed frozen in place until Cheryl paused the music. “Y/N! What is going on with you?”
Cheryl took a step towards you. Her commanding voice was gone. The tears were back in your eyes and you seemed to be shaking. “Okay, you’re officially freaking me out, Y/N. Is this about lunch? I’m sorry I snapped at you, okay? You’re my -”
“I’m going to be sick.” You announced before darting off the field. There was no sarcasm to your voice. No anger. Only a terrified certainty. You had never been angry with her at all. You were ill.
“Toni, take the girls through the routine again. I’ll be back.” Cheryl took off after her friend, prepared to hold back her hair like you had done for her so many times before. Before she rounded the corner, she stopped. You were standing next to a large trash can, gripping both sides tightly. But you weren’t alone. Sweet Pea was standing next to you, rubbing your back.
“This is mortifying,” You sobbed, tears streaming down your face. Instead of bounding in to take over, her first instinct, Cheryl stayed where she was, peering around the corner.  “You do not have to stay for this. I should - I should - ”
You gagged and leaned over the trash can but didn’t vomit. Sweet Pea brushed a few tears from your eyes as you leaned back. “This is nothing. Fangs’ seventeen birthday? That was gross. Trust me. Like the exorcist.”
You laughed and then groaned again, placing one hand over your stomach. “I should have let you take me to the nurse in fifth period. You were right. I’ve been feeling sick all day. I didn’t even tell Cheryl, I just got snippy about her stupid salad. Ugh. That salad.”
You leaned over the trash can again and this time, everyone came up. Cheryl shuttered but watched as Sweet Pea stood by, brushing your hair out of your face and rubbing your back. It was sweet…in a disgusting sort of way. When you leaned back, he brushed the sweat from your forehead. He didn’t even flinch when you whipped the back of your mouth and spit. Instead, he pulled a water bottle out of his backpack and offered it to you. It was used, Cheryl noted, being half empty but it was a dire circumstance. You rinsed out your mouth and leaned again him, giving him your weight. “I think you have a fever. You feel any better?”
“I feel disgusting and queasy and embarrassed and I never want to show my face to the River Vixens of you ever again,” you confessed. Sweet Pea shook his head.
“Nah. That’s okay. You don’t need to do that. I’d miss your face.” Despite being disgusting and ill, you smiled at him. Cheryl felt her heart swell. It was so awkwardly cute. “I uh - I guess I’m trying to say that I don’t really care about my grades but I’ve been studying with you a lot. Like, I’ve been passing math for weeks and I’m still asking for your help. You know?”
“So you weren’t just in it for your love of learning,” you teased. Then your smile faltered and you brought your hand to your stomach. “I don’t know how I’m going to walk home. Ugh. I’m gonna lose it on the Cooper’s lawn.”
“I’ll drive you. Your mom gonna be home?” You shook your head. Your mother was rarely ever home. Often staying at the studio until 10 PM or later. It allowed you a lot of sleepovers but Cheryl knew you were often lonely, especially when you were sick. And Cheryl had been spending most of her time with Toni lately. “We’ll stop at the drugstore and I’ll grab a few things. I got you, okay?”
Sweet Pea wrapped his arm around your shoulder and guided you away from the foul-smell bin. Cheryl returned to her squad and grabbed her phone from her bag off the bench - she was the only one allowed to have her phone on them at rehearsal. Toni was leading the girls into a much smoother looking routine. “Ladies! I knew you had it in you. You are the Vixens I knew you could be. Take 5 - Nay, take 10. Then we’ll run it from the top and I’ll let you watch my solo.”
Cheryl joined Toni and wrapped her arms around her and kissed the top of her head. Toni hugged her tightly. When she pulled back, she asked “How’s our girl? You two make up?”
“Let’s just say, you’re much more intuitive and smart than the world gives you credit for. Mi amour, you deserve all the credit in the world.”
Cheryl kissed Toni firmly before pulling out her phone and texting you three words.
                                          Seal. Of. Approval.

Riverdale had been struck with a series of attacks. People bitten, claiming that they were used for feeding. When Alice Cooper had found out what was going on, you’d been with Betty at her house. She was working on a way to distract everyone from what was going on.
Alice had come in, pale faced, looking shocked or disgusted you weren’t sure. She’d sat at the kitchen table with you both and explained how she had just found out that the victims that died had no blood. That the ones who had survived had needed blood transfusions. The news had run through Riverdale the next day and you couldn't help but wonder if the rumors of southside vampires could be reality.
It was that reality that you were thinking about as you walked home. It had started raining before you left. Your umbrella had gotten so wet that it now dripped regretfully onto you as you tried to keep it from getting buffeted away with the wind. You paused when, over the howl of the wind, you heard someone shouting for help.
“Bitch, I will eat you!” You heard the words called out. Fear stuck you to the floor. The attacks had stopped for a few weeks and while the cases had fascinated everyone, you’d been lulled into a false sense of security. From your posting on the path you saw someone run out of the woods up ahead. They were chased by something tall, quick and strong. It grabbed at them. Then a clap of thunder rolled overhead and lightning lit up the street.
It was Sweet Pea, close enough for you to see fangs, fangs coming from his mouth as he leered down on a person who had been tossed to the floor and was cowering beneath him. You gasped and a bolt of lighting, so bright you flinched, caused you to look away for a moment. The thunder that the lightning chased was so loud you didn’t hear him move. But when you blinked a few times and looked again, the person he’d been attacking was running away. You turned and walked smack into him.
“Swe… Sweet Pea!” You said, trying your best to not sound nervous. He smiled, the way he would have smiled if you’d tagged along with Jughead and Betty to Pop’s.
“(Y/N)! You shouldn’t be out alone in the storm. It’s dangerous.” His smile faltered when he saw, for a moment, the withering look that you shot him. The two of you looked at each other for a second that felt like a lifetime. If your suspicions were correct then you needed to warn the others. You’d been on your way to meet Veronica and Archie.
“Oh. I know. I was just on my way to…” You trailed off. You wanted to seem as if you hadn’t noticed anything. That perhaps the rain was too heavy for you to see. Sweet Pea seemed to be thinking a similar thing.
“Well why don’t I walk you there.” He said with a grin that made you swallow. It did occur to you that you hadn’t told him where you were going. However, there wasn’t much he could do, seeing as you had people waiting for you.
“Sure.” You said as calmly as you could. He smiled but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.

Sweet Pea//the other one (part 2)
hey! no prompts tonight because i have been super busy today and just haven’t had the time to write them, however i will be working on them again from tomorrow so yay! anyway, to say sorry, here’s the second part of ‘the other one’. this is the first part! i know it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger so hopefully this makes up for it! enjoy!
“Sweet Pea!” You squeal when you feel a pair of arms wrap around your waist. Your feet kick against the dusty ground as he lifts you up, but when he chuckles in your ear and his hot breath fans over your cheeks, you soon still in his arms, now trying to focus on settling your heartbeat.
He smells like sunscreen and vanilla ice cream and you feel yourself become dizzy, now suddenly extremely thankful that he’s still holding you. You look around at the rest of your friends, none of them paying attention to the two of you, they’re all two busy either sun bathing or jumping into the water that fills the quarry.
Despite the warnings from your mom about swimming in the water, you have already been in. The rest of her warnings have proven useless, ‘don’t hang out with serpents’ and ‘be nice to your sister’ are the two main ones she’s told you for as long as you can remember, and they’re both stupid.
Sweet Pea spins you around and the two of you laugh loudly, causing a few of the serpents to look in your direction. You end up making eye contact with Toni when he eventually stops and she sends you a knowing look that makes you quickly drop her gaze.
“Put me down!” You giggle once you’ve recovered and he reluctantly lets go. You turn around to face him a bright smile on your face that fades when you look at him. Your jaw drops at the sight of his bare chest, Toni and Fangs cough behind you and you quickly close your mouth and look at his face instead.
“Like what you see?” He asks and wiggles his eyebrows. You roll your eyes and shove him slightly, deciding that maybe it’s best not to face him right now. So instead you turn around and look for Sadie who’s been put in charge of the drinks.
“No, I’m just surprised to see you without your serpent jacket, I thought it was attached.” You tease and he huffs.
“So, where did the Mayor of Riverdale think her doting daughter is today?”
“Shopping with Betty and Veronica.” You smile and take a sip of your drink.
“Damn.” He sighs and you frown at him.
“What?” You ask, your tone filled with worry and your eyes scan over him, trying to find out what’s wrong.
“It’s just. I don’t know how you’re gonna explain this.”
“Explain wha-” You furrow your eyebrows and watch as his frown turns into a smirk, but he cuts you off by picking you up and throwing you into the water. He runs and jumps in after you and you shove him when you both come up for air.
“I hate you so fucking much.” You say, despite the large grin on your face.
“No you don’t.”
Your tears rolls down the glossy paper and onto your pyjama pants and you throw the photo to the floor. It’s no longer a happy memory, a candid moment between the two of you captured by Toni, it’s a reminder of what used to be.
It reminds you of something you thought was real, when in reality it’s never been.
Lying back on your bed, you stare up at the ceiling and count the cracks. It’s the only thing you’ve done for the past two days. You manage to convince your mom that you’ve caught something so you don’t have to go to school and she won’t let anyone in.
Josie has tried on multiple occasions to talk to you, but anytime she even tries to, you shut her down by staring at her until she leaves. Toni had tried to catch up with you when you found out, but you practically ran all the way home and she knew better than to try to follow.
She knows you need time.
You need to be alone to try and figure out where this leaves you.
You’re not entirely sure you know who you are right now. You spent so long loving Sweet Pea and wishing for a future that could be.
You searched for clues and hints in his texts, wondered what it meant when he hugged you for what felt like longer than normal, and tried to stop yourself from smiling when he bought you random gifts ‘just because’.
Now though, now that you’ve taken off your rose tinted glasses and seen the world for the grey bleakness that it actually is, you realize that none of those things meant anything. And all those nights spent worrying that something was wrong, was because of her. He loved her, and not you.
You heard the hurt in his voice when she shut him down, it’s how you sound when you talk about him. You know what it looks like when you’re in love with someone who doesn’t feel the same, and now so does he.
And it’s shit.
After a week of moping in your bed and faking a migraine, your mom finally forces you to go to school, despite your protests of not wanting to kill anyone with your totally real flu.
And so finally, you clutch your books close to your chest and cross the threshold of Riverdale High.
It looks no different, nobody looks at you, nobody even acknowledges you, something they have never done. It’s like you’re the most important McCoy, why would they? And so you breath a sigh of relief as you make your way to your first class.
You pass Josie and her lips part as if to say something, however they quickly close again and you pass her in silence.
Your almost at your class when you hear your name being called and you curse quietly.
What does he want?
You want to cry. Why does he have to keep being here? Why does he have to keep forcing you to remember that he exists and that he doesn’t want you.
“Y/n, please?” He begs, his voice cracking and you feel your heart break all over again. You take a shaky breath before forcing yourself to turn around and face the brown eyed boy who’s staring at you with so much sadness in his eyes that you think he’s gonna burst.
“Yes?” You force out and try to smile at him, however it comes out as more of a grimace and so you just purse your lips and wait for him to answer.
“Can we talk?” He asks and you look behind you.
“I er- I have a class to get to.”
“I know.” He nods. “Chemistry with Miss Click. You sit beside Neil and he throws pencils at his brother Will who sits on the other side of you. Toni sits three rows behind you and constantly passes notes to you that sometimes make you laugh so hard you snort and then have to pretend that you’re just coughing when Miss Click asks you if you’re okay. On Thursdays, Olivia is always late, and when she does turn up she always offers you the last of her gum because you help her catch up on what she’s missed.”
“Sweet Pe-”
“It’ll only take a minute.” He interrupts and you sigh before reluctantly nodding.
The corridor suddenly empties and you feel yourself shrink under his gaze.
“I know you love me.” He says and your eyes widen.
“What?! I er- who told you?”
“Fangs.” He says and you let out a deflated sigh. “But it’s okay, because I’m glad he did. It made me realize something. I know what classes you have and who you sit beside in each one. I know that when you’re sad you always want chocolate and when you’re angry you want tea. You cry when you see a cute cat on the street and you always pet dogs no matter what, even if they are barking at you and are literally about to rip your arm off. You don’t like dark chocolate but you’ll eat biscuits covered in dark chocolate, and you like peas but you don’t like sweetcorn because you think they try too hard to be different. I know the excuses you tell your mom and I know the ridiculously stupid lengths you go to to keep them up like bribing the chess club to pretend that you’re apart of them and even convincing the yearbook committee to publish a picture of you with the club.”
“Why are you telling me this?” You smile sadly and he mirrors your expression.
“Because, I know you. I know how much you love all of us and I know how hard you fought for all of us. I know that you always buy Fangs Twizzlers whenever you’re at a shop, and you buy me Twinkies and Toni Milk Duds because they make us happy. I know all of these useless facts about you, and I know so much more. And I know nothing about Josie, other than what everybody else knows. I know her as a McCoy, but I know you as Y/n. And-and, I love you Y/n.”
“What?” Your jaw drops and he bites his lip anxiously.
“I am so, so sorry. I should have told you it’s just Josie didn’t want anybody to know and I wanted to make her happy. But I made you and everybody else worry and I ended up making you miserable. I have been an idiot. I thought I liked Josie but I think I was just pretending that I didn’t love you because I didn’t want to ruin what he had if you didn’t feel the same way.
“Sweet Pea.” You laugh nervously, not really sure what else to do. He reaches out and grabs your hands, pulling you close to him.
“You’re not the other one Y/n, you’re the right one.”

Alright everybody today we're losing it over 3 things:
Pastel Jughead
Northside Jughead being adopted by Fred
Jughead & his many lady friends
SO HERE'S THE THING- IM CRYING, JUST, - JUG. JUG ALWAYS WANTING TO WEAR PRETTY PASTEL THINGS BUT HE COULD NEVER BC IT WOULD MAKE FP LOOK BAD, THEN BC he doesn't want to put a burden on fp. From a painfully young age, he knew they weren't well off, so yes, hand me downs would suffice, no worries.
There's also that lingering, possessive fear digging through his hopes, that maybe it won't matter, that people won't care, but-
but then he remembers Kevin getting slammed for wearing lip gloss on the playground, or how Archie stopped writing his songs with glitter pens after some douchebag made fun of him.
Or how Jason loved playing dolls and match dresses with Cheryl until he was stopped. And he's just- there's gentle advisory to hide all of that, and so he does?
But then they grow up, and Riverdale, at least in some places, does too. So when Betty kindly offers him some clothes to try on, offers to teach him how to do make up, Val, Polly and Veronica fast on call, having their little fashion shows, it felt... free.
SO, ns jug and ss sweet pea who met through fangs, whom jug found battered up behind the movie theater and took him home to patch up, and it was infatuation at first sight.
Sweet Pea is bold and confident and makes gold feel lesser and he loves the blush preening, bashful but fervid across Jug's face, illuminating the freckles he's found himself counting more than once, and he says he'd like to see it more often.
So Friday. Jug better be ready.
And so - so Jug IS, invites Sweet Pea to his room until he goes to tame his brother Archie, his sister Cheryl (bc in a perfect world Fred adopted Cheryl ok don't tale that from me) and Papa, " protective cave people. You know."
And sweet pea just watches him, a ball of indigant fluffy bed hair, hopping down the stairs.
" You can't ruin this for me! This guy is so sweet and smart and cool, why aren't we talking about Archie's unrelenting habbit of bringing a new girl over every week. I don't want to shame anyone but its really mean I'm the only one targeted!" And he snorts.
This dork will make such a good boyfriend, yes, he can already see it, boyfriend to husband to maybe possibly father of his children.
But he's not thinking too fast. No.
It's just- Jug is a good boy, starry eyed bright, sea water calming and tranquil, makes you want to drown, and sweet pea would. He doesn't know how something that pure goes hand in hand with all the dark he's wearing. A dark he doesn't even enjoy, by the look on his face.
But then. Then sweet pea sees. Pretty pink clothes, shirts and sweaters and skirts, pastel everything, some on the bed, some on the bean bag, and his insides freeze over. They look awfully close in resemblance with the other ball of pastel, sunlight forrest green that creep him out. And Sweet Pea assumes the worst.
Just- Jug coming back, excited, saying that he actually convinced Fred to let him ride on a motorcycle, but sees the dark on sweet pea 's face, watches fingers casually tear his pretty fabrics apart, then fling it at jug and jug- he's he's so upset, water pooling around his eyes, " w- why?"
" why? Cause you're fucking disgusting. THIS is disgusting," gesturing to the mess and rags of Jug's precious things, sliced by a talented blade, precise, masterful, gleeful. " God, I'm so glad I didn't let you touch me. You've got to be one of the sickest fuckers I've ever met. WHY would you bring me here, knowing I'd find out?"
Lips trembling, shaking like fluttering petals blew by wind, Jug, shame eaten, mortification boiling him from the inside out, " I- I didn't think you'd- you'd care."
There's betrayel, soft but noticeable, because he TRUSTED sweet pea, trusted Fangs' promises of their youthful viewpoints, how they're progressive even with their slightly traditional tracks.
Sweet Pea, floored, scoffs, like Jug is spewing some of the most offensive words he's heard in a lifetime, and shakes his head. " Northsiders are something else. Crazy fuckers, the lot of you. Dont look for me, or that pretty face of yours won't stay pretty for long"
He carries that bravado with him out the door, but as soon as he reaches his truck, Sweet Pea cries, you know he does, because there goes his heart, broke open by another northsider with too much time on their hands and not enough life in their hearts.
Meanwhile, Jug is cleaning his room, sobbing quietly, because the boy he likes hates his pretty clothes and thinks Jug is disgusting.
there's nothing Cheryl does better than revenge.
She watches Jug, shoulder to shoulder with a paired of concerned amber eyes, angry, wrathful, as her baby brother gently packs the clothes into a bag, shoulders trembling as if he's carrying so much weight on them Atlas would bow.
Watches him, head down, little trash bag filled with the same things that nerd was so bright eyed with excitement at just a few months ago, and knocks on Betty's door.
He apologizes, Cheryl knows, because of the loving, fond crease between Betty's brow, when Jug would apologize for seemingly nothing and shed say "why"? With her face alone.
She spots the blankness taking over as she opens that bag, slowly, eyes not changing once her and Cheryl lock eyes.
" Fetch my phone, Archie. This is a Code Red."
So here Jug is, under his fluffy blankets, cuddlin and hugging FP's serpent jacket, hoping a gentle hand would materialize out of thin air and brush through his tangle of curls.
When suddenly, it's yanked, and he makes a sad sound of dejection, upset because he wants to SNUGGLE and forget that he's but a mere goldfish in this bitch of a world but surprise surprise, lady friends.
Lady friends holding hair brushes and cosmetics, clothes of all kinds, all comforting, mischievous storms.
Jug whines, low in his throat, uses the leathers as shield. The bed shifts under multiple weights, but he can recognize them all- the soft, private gentleness Cheryl secures only for him, now more tender than ever through his curls.
Betty's ginger squeezes around his thigh, Val, feline agility, perfect grace snuggling around him.
Ethel's timid but strong pat on his shoulder, accompanied by Ronnie's playful tickle to his sides, sending him in a shriek that he needed. They're all there, all pieces of his heart that he'll never forget. " wh- what are we doing?"
" Revenge, dear hobo. Revenge. You know the best way to get it?"
" ...Success?"
" yes. And the best way to kill?" When he doesn't responded, Cheryl's eyes thunder. " Beauty."

Summary: The reader along with her friends put on a fundraiser, however someone needs to step in at the kissing booth.
Valentines Day Masterlist
Tumblr media
“What’re we going to do?” Betty sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose.
Letting out a defeated sigh, you shrugged as you leaned back in the booth.
“I wish I could help, B.” Veronica chimed in, her features etched with despair.
“Wait.” You spoke while sitting up in the booth. “What if...What if you put on a fair?”
“A fair?” Veronica questioned furrowing her eyebrows in confusion.
“That’s actually a really good idea.” Betty spoke, hope glimmering in her eyes.
“We could have games, and rides, and have small bakeries and restaurants around town show case their food.” You stated, taking a sip of the milkshake you ordered.
“Holy crap!” Betty exclaimed. “Y/N, you’re onto something!”
“That sounds like it would be really fun!” Veronica spoke sitting straighter, offering you a slight smile.
“We could even have a kissing booth!”
---
“So you were the genius that came up with the Riverdale fair, huh?” Jughead teased, taking the seat beside you.
The loud music blasting from the stereo at the Wyrm, almost caused you not to hear your friend.
“I guess I am.” You teased back, nudging his shoulder with yours. “Are you going to be a kisser?”
Jughead choked on his drink, before turning to you with widened eyes. “A what?”
You chuckled. “A kisser. You know, someone that kisses people at the kissing booth.” You rolled your eyes.
“Well, well, well.” Toni and Fangs spoke joining you and Jug. “If it isn’t the kissing booth inventor.”
You giggled, shaking your head slightly at your friends. “Quiet, all of you.”
“Maybe, it was her subtle way of trying to make the next move with a certain someone.” Toni spoke her voice taunting.
“No-”
“Hey guys.” Sweet Pea greeted the group. “Oh, hey, Y/N.”
Heat began racing along your cheeks, as it rose behind your neck. “Oh, hey, sweets.” You turned to face him, giving him a slight smile.
Turning back around to face the rest of the group, you attempted to hide your embarrassment. Letting out a sigh, you couldn’t bring yourself to focus on what Jughead was saying.
Sweet Pea took you both by surprise when he moved to press his chest to your back, while wrapping his arms around your shoulders, pulling you close. He earned a gasp from you.
Frowning, he began to unwrapped himself from you. With some liquid courage, you gripped his forearms preventing him from letting go.
“Hey Sweets?” You questioned softly, turning to look at him.
“Yes, love?”
“Are you going to come to the fair?”
Your question took him by surprise, causing an awkward silence to fall between you.
“I mean-”
“Do you want me to?” His voice was full of hesitation.
“I do.” You spoke promptly, nodding.
“Then I’ll be there.” He grinned, placing a kiss to the top of your head.
Grinning, you nuzzled back into him as best as you could.
---
“Wow, look at this turn out.” You spoke, gazing at the plethora of Riverdale residents wandering around the festival.
“Thanks for your help, Y/N.” Betty replied, pulling you in for a hug. “I couldn’t have done this without you.”
“Aw-”
“Betty, we have a problem.” Kevin rushed out. “One of the kissers for the kissing booth, is sick.”
“We don’t have any back ups?” Betty furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
“No.”
As you were gazing at the residents, you realized how quiet your two best friends were in this moment.
“Y/N.”
“No.”
“Please.”
“No way.”
“We don’t have anyone else!”
“But-”
“Please!” Both Kevin and Betty drew out their ‘Pleases.’
Letting out a sigh, you returned your gaze back to your fellow Riverdale residents. “Fine.”
---
“Step right up and receive a smooch!” Kevin spoke attempting to bait some of the passer byers.
Your could help but drum your fingers slightly against the table, as you stood anxiously. You stood at the kissing booth with a blindfold over your eyes.
Letting out a sigh, you could hear the sound of someone walking up the steps of the booth.
The smell of cologne filled your nose, signaling the stranger had chosen to stop at your station.
“I...I’ve never done this.” You chuckled dryly. “Sorry.” You shook your head.
The stranger didn’t respond. You reached forward in attempt to sooth your anxieties. Your fingers danced along the leather of the strangers jacket.
A serpent? You thought.
“Lets get this over with.” You rushed out. Placing your hands on their shoulders, you gently pulled them forward. Your noses brushing against each other, your lips colliding.
The strangers lips were much softer than you were expecting, while the flavor of mint entranced your mouth. Fireworks erupted in your stomach as you pulled the stranger in for a passionate kiss. Biting their bottom lip gently, you pulled away panting.
Bringing your hands to your face, you lifted your eye mask. A gasp falling from your lips as you locked eyes with a familiar pair of chocolate brown ones.
“Sweet Pea?” You whispered in disbelief.
Shock was etched along your features, as you began processing what happened.
Before either of you could speak, the sound of whoops and hollars erupted from beside you. Turning your heads toward the sounds you both gazed at the group in confusion. Leading the group was Toni and Fangs, sending you and Sweet Pea a knowing look.

After Much More Consideration Than Is Warranted for Someone Who Didn’t See the Episode
I have a lot to say, and if you choose to disregard it because you think I don’t know what I’m talking about, feel free to skip.
But if you’re open to my thoughts on all this, buckle up. This is not for the faint of heart or “To All the Boys I Loved Before” crowd—
I’ve had a good night’s sleep and a lot of kvetching on Discord behind me. I’ve had a few hours to think and here’s what I’ve ended up with:
On Betty Hooking Up With Archie
As unpalatable to me as the B*archie plot is, I am of the firm belief that ultimately, Betty has every right to fuck whomever she wants.
Do I hate that she chose Archie? Yes. Did I think this was something Betty and Archie could walk back? No. Would I feel as terrible if she slept with Sweet Pea? Or Reggie? Or Farmer McGinty? Not in the least. I simply hate it because it’s Archie, and I’ll explain in a bit why these earlier thoughts are problematic, but I’ll go into the other better reason I hate this plot: I hate it because this is the third time in five seasons we have to deal with this. I’m tired of it. I have to watch these writers shoehorn this plot in for whatever stupid and misguided reason they have: that Betty’s trauma is making her do it and that they need to have Jughead and Archie have some kind of blowout. Like, can’t they think of anything better?
BUT be that as it may, this plot is here, and so now we come to why assigning hate to this plot “because it’s Archie” is problematic. I asked myself: should it really matter? Objectively, no. Its been 7 years. Jughead shut her down in a voicemail, and as far as she’s concerned, Jughead didn’t want her anymore. Archie’s clearly a selfish prick, but he definitely has no issues about sleeping with his supposed Best Friend’s ex because Reggie, his football bro-dude, did it to him with Veronica and it turned out he was OK with it. He is applying the same here, and ultimately, if Jughead has to find out that Betty and Archie were boinking indiscriminately, he needs to remember that he cut that chord when he left that voicemail. He might not have known it then, but he knows it now, and he has to examine his own part in unraveling that Blue & Gold thread.
On Jughead Womp
Listen, all. I love Jughead, and given everything that’s happened in these episodes, I feel for him. I feel like in some respects, the other characters could be nicer to him, but let’s get one thing straight. Jughead had a lot to do with his own misery and misfortune. Our precious soft boy caused many of the things happening to him now—his distance from Betty, the way the Serpents aren’t forgiving, his writer’s block, his failed relationships, and maybe even the eventual demise of his writing career (if he did send Cora’s manuscript and passed it off as his. At any rate, if he did a “Punching and Fucking” Californication schtick, he will survive it like Hank Moody did).
I love him, but if any discontent is going to be expressed about how the rest of the gang are handling their miserable selves, we can’t place Jughead above it and think the world is against him. No. Just no. Those unpaid bills didn’t unpay themselves. Those mobsters aren’t randomly pursuing him.
Jughead is JUST as disappointing as the rest of them, because he squandered the great opportunities that were handed to him, and then he had the gall to think that the Serpents wouldn’t take his portrayal of them personally.
I say this to him (and maybe to everyone because this is a good life lesson): Goodwill is enduring (he sacrificed his life for Serpents), but people will only endure so much if you shit on them, and in this case, he memorialized that shit in a published book.
On Betty Saying She Wanted to Fuck Archie Since High School
This didn’t even make me blink. Like, I didn’t even feel a twitch about that. @imreallyloveleee said it best in her post but it bears repeating: (1) sexual thoughts aren’t exclusive to the people you love; (2) it doesn’t invalidate your meaningful relationships; (3) Betty could’ve done it with Archie in the bunker, but she didn’t.
I’m not even going to point to, “Well, she liked him until sophomore year so YEAH, she thought about sleeping with Archie.” I think that’s absurd. She did think about sleeping with Archie even after that. Even after she was with Jughead. Archie WAS a thing, and thoughts--especially sexual thoughts, are not static and linear. They are alive and affected by a multitude of chemical reactions in our body. They permeate our daily activities and relationships. She HAD those thoughts and she doesn’t need to apologize for it, or be villified for it.
The funny thing is my initial thought about it was that it was just pillow talk. On the one hand it could be construed as something of a bone she was throwing Archie the Labrador, but it was also something Betty needed to say for herself, a way to convince herself that she was doing this for something more meaningful than a way to cope with being in the Panic Room of her trauma, but this is a conclusion based on nothing but my own biases. That said, it certainly kept me from falling into a black hole of despair over it.
On Betty Sleeping With Men Because She Can
Tumblr media
Maybe she has to work on some stuff for her mental health. Maybe she has some trauma, but Betty had enjoyed sex in the past even without trauma. She likes it and sometimes she just needs it. Her sex appears to be responsible, consesual, and she appears to enjoy it. I mean, when she doesn’t feel like it, she says, “Nah,” and stays home with her cat.

please god tell me about the twilight au
okay I have two versions of the twilight au but one of them has a bitchy oc so I'm gonna talk about the one without the oc.
so. jughead is bella. he lived in riverdale when he was really young but following fp and gladys's big nondivorce split, he and jellybean went with gladys to toledo. however, at age 16, he decides to come back and spend some time living with fp in riverdale.
the cullens are less of a "family" in this than they are in the movie, but essentially hiram and hermione are carlisle and esme respectively, toni is alice, jasper doesn't exist because he means nothing to me, veronica is rosalie and reggie is emmett. betty is edward.
archie is jacob, although it's worth mentioning I'm a jarchie longcon truther and a member of team jacob, so archie and jughead are endgame here.
I'll summarize the section of the au that follows the first movie, since it's the most well known movie and I also don't want this post to be six pages long.
like I said before, jughead is new to town and quickly befriends fangs, toni, and sweet pea. just like bella did, jughead has a strange encounter with betty in biology class, when she has to run out because of an overwhelming desire to kill and eat him <3
this causes him to be intrigued with betty and the group she hangs out with (veronica and reggie), although toni warns him to stay away from them.
switching over to archie, he and jughead were childhood best friends, and they quickly pick up where they left off when jughead returns to town, although things between them are a little strained. since I'm not stephanie mormon and I don't want to include an insensitive plot about racism, archie goes to same school as the rest of them, although he lives on the other end of town.
okay. back to betty. jughead is weirdly fascinated by her ever since she ran out of class, and one day when he runs into her in the hallway between periods, he decides to confront her about it.
she freaks out and tells him to back off, but her eyes flash yellow and her teeth look suspiciously pointy while she's threatening him, so jughead, freak that he is, only becomes more intrigued.
he starts trying to find out everything he can about betty, veronica, and reggie, since he's convinced there's something strange going on with them. he starts watching them after school in the parking lot, but he never seems to find them walking outside in broad daylight.
at one point, while distracted from his search for them, jughead is almost hit by a car, but a very fast and very strong figure manages to save him before he can get hurt. it's archie.
at first jughead assumes archie and betty are keeping the same secret, and that they must be the same kind of inhuman creature, but obviously that theory isn't true.
anyway, jughead ends up getting closer to both of them due to this crazed search, and at one point veronica invites him, betty, and reggie over to her house to play a game of baseball because you know I HAD to include that scene here.
unlike bella, I don't think jughead knows that they're vampires at this point. he just assumes they're a bunch of weirdos who like playing baseball in the rain. all that changes when a group of rogue vampires (unsure of who these are yet but wouldn't it be hilarious if it was bret and donna) show up and threaten to kill jughead.
this places a bounty on his head, and betty, veronica, and reggie rush to hide him in the underground fuck bunker.
hes lured away by the rogue vampires before they're able to hide him away, and he's left bitten and alone, waiting for his painful demise. he's able to contact both betty and archie though, who show up at the same to save him.
they end up fighting about what to do before the severity of the situation takes over, and betty manages to save jughead using whatever stupid ass logic allowed edward to suck the vampire venom out of bella's blood.
archie takes him to the hospital afterwards and spends the day there watching him, both because he wants to and because betty can't.
archie and jughead end up getting together and they go to the dance blah blah blah the ending of twilight happens they're in love you know the drill.

Strongest
Summary: Sweet Pea/Plus Sized!Reader; Past Jughead/Reader Request: Using the song “Strongest by Ina”? Reader got pregnant w/ jughead’s daughter during senior year but jug doesn’t feel ready for a kid/ is still with Betty ( he used reader as a rebound) and sweet pea is there to love her ?
TW: discussions of abortion
You’re shaking when you lean over the toilet to vomit, you can hear someone come in and freeze hoping they’ll just use the bathroom and leave. “Y/N you in here?” You swallow grimacing and stepping from the bathroom stall looking nervously at Toni. “You okay?” She watches as you wash your hands before rinsing your mouth out. “Yeah, just uh, stomach bug.” Toni’s hand grips your shoulder. “Really? You didn’t even eat anything yet, you were just saying how you were starving.” “You don’t need food for your stomach to puke.” You shrug trying your best not to panic.
“Go home then; I’m pretty sure everyone will understand; especially if you puke more. Nobody’s going to want to get that. Not before the game.” You nod retreating from the bathroom to grab your bag and head home. “Hey Y/N where are you going?” “Home; don’t feel well.” You offer a half smile to Jughead who nods. “I can stop by later if you want; I wanna talk anyways.” You shake your head. “I’ll let you know if I feel better.” You’re walking home, feeling the nausea ebb off, and you debating stopping into the shop to get pain medication. You reason it’s probably just your period, and then the panic sinks in your gut that you should have gotten it two and a half weeks ago. “Shit.” You hiss deciding you’ll have to go to the store but not for the pain meds.
You’re surprised at how much your luck holds, the shop keeper doesn’t glance beyond the leather jacket, and your mom isn’t home from work which leaves you to chug five glasses of water and shiver in fear on the couch until you can pee on the stick that’s hopefully not going to change anything. You’re pretty sure this is what hell is and the four minutes is almost up when your luck runs out and you hear a knock followed by the door opening. “Y/N?” Toni calls out and you want to vomit remembering you left the box on the couch. “Listen I won’t bother you but Fangs said he saw you in the pharmacy looking freaked out and he panicked cause he thought you were gonna puke but when he went up to ask if you wanted a ride you were gone so he called me to.” You cringe as she sucks in a breath. The door opens and she finds you curled next to the toilet hiding from the stick that’s balanced on the edge of the sink. “I can’t look.” You speak muffled between your knees.  You hear her wince and you don’t even need to look to know it’s positive.
“Fuck. How do you think Jones’ll feel knowing he’s gonna end up like his dad?” Toni stays quiet, you can hear her moving the test, and crouching in front of you. “He’s back with Betty.” You sigh dropping your shoulder and pulling in a shaking breath. “Well it can’t-“ “If you say worse-“ You hiss. “Hey Toni is Y/N; oh shit.” You can hear someone grabbing the box and turning it over to read it. “Well at least it’s not my fucking mom.” “Oh hey Sweet Pea-“ Toni winces as you start to cry. “Come on Y/N maybe your mom didn’t see anything.” Toni assures you as she helps you stand and tucks the stick in her pocket.
You manage to keep a small amount of luck, Toni able to pass of your tears and general upset-ness as being sick; and her presence as worry and a reminder about the game coming up. It ends abruptly when your mom leaves as soon as she came rushing to get to her second job.
“So; uh, how’d it go?” Sweet Pea asks and Toni glares at him. “How the fuck do you think it went Pea?” “So that’s a yes then?” You turn away from them and retreat to the couch shoving your bag and the pillows to the floor curling into the side of the couch and tugging the blanket over yourself. “Maybe if I just don’t eat for the next like two weeks; hah I’d actually lose weight then, bet Cheryl would let me on the Vixens. At least it won’t be noticeable for a while.” “You have time to think about it anyways. There’s that clinic in Centerville I can give you a lift if you need. Maybe you should let Jones know?” Toni prompts and you shrug.
“Why, that won’t change anything. He used me for a rebound; just until Cooper decided she wanted him back. I wasn’t anything to him and he won’t care.” “You can say it’s mine.” Sweet Pea speaks and you and Toni stare at him. “What?” “Say it’s mine; everyone already assumes I sleep around; that way you don’t have to date me if you don’t want; no one would be surprised. I mean; not being bad, we’re Southsider’s I think they expect it to be fair. It’s just an option.” He holds his hands up nervously. “That’s really Sweet. Thank you.” “Just living up to my name.” He laughs a little and you can’t help but smile. Toni sighs. “I’m gonna bounce; we still on for Pop’s later?” You nod and she grins.
“You want me to leave?” You turn to Sweet Pea who’s ripping up the box and soaking it in water. “What are you doing?” “Soaking the paint off; this way when you throw it away it’s too soggy to read.” “Oh.” You curl your hand around his arm, and he sets the cup aside as you lean on him. “Thank you.” You can feel yourself crying. “It’s no problem; anything for you Y/N.” You laugh a little. “What?” He arches and eyebrow. “I don’t think you’ll be saying that in a few months.” “Do you need anything?” “Right now?” “Well yeah but also in general. You can stay with me if your mom kicks you out. You don’t need to worry about that.”
“Why are you being so nice to me; you don’t need to pretend; I’ll be fine on my own; I can manage. Really it’s sweet of you to pretend to be the dad for cover but it’s okay. You don’t need to do anything.” “I know; I want to. I want to help.” “Why?” “I like you, as in romantically.” He keeps his eyes on the ground. “You like me? Me? When you could have anyone else in the entire town?” “Yes.” He looks up grinning. “Is that a problem?” You shake your head and he steps closer. “Good; can I kiss you?” He asks pulling your face closer. “I’d be insulted if you didn’t.”
It’s been a week of keeping quiet before Toni looks guiltily at when everyone is sitting in Pop’s; you don’t catch on until you see the booth arrangement; Toni’s on the edge, next to Cheryl; who’s next to Veronica, then Archie, then Betty, and then Jughead. You’re about to ask Sweet Pea to sit next to him when Cheryl smiles and waves you in. “You’re smaller so Sweet Pea can hang off the edge.” “Y/N you doing okay? You look like you lost weight.” Betty asks and you shrug. “I’ve been stressed lately.” “Stress isn’t good.” Fangs trails off as you watch Toni glare at him; you know Sweet Pea told him something of your situation. “Fangs you’ve been staring at Sweet Pea since he got here. What do you know?” “Nothing.” He stutters and Toni and Sweet Pea shake their heads in unison. “Fangs.” Jughead pressures and you can see when Fangs’ folds. “Sweet Pea knocked some girl up.” He mumbles and everyone freezes.
“Fangs I told you not to say anything!” “They deserve to know they’re your friends!” “This is my business, y’all don’t need to be involved.” “Yes we do!” Veronica fires back and Sweet Pea glares. “Did I knock you up? No I didn’t the only people this needs to be between are me and the girl; the rest of you can fuck off.” “No; Sweet Pea as leader of the Serpent’s I have;”
“You ain’t got shit Jones; you ain’t got no reason to poke your nose in my business not when you went of and how did you put it to fang’s and me? Ah yes; slummed it with the Serpent’s while Betty wasn’t talking to you? Hm? Did all those hook-ups you had after you drank just like your dad escape your mind?” You can see the way Jughead’s eyes flicker to you and you can see him swallow. “Fuck this.” He hisses standing and leaving; you’re surprised when Betty doesn’t follow him. More surprised when you find yourself running to catch up to him as he storms off. “I’m pissed you didn’t tell me you were with Sweet Pea when we hooked up; it’s a little rude to both of us.” “I wasn’t.” “So now you have to deal with some random chick he knocked up trying to ruin your relationship; both of you are in the Serpent’s I’m not having that shit interfering with the rest of us.” He laughs and you shake your head. “What?” You swallow not saying anything just shrugging. “Y/N what the fuck is going on.” “I’m with Sweet Pea but he didn’t knock me up.” You retreat as Betty emerges.
“Jones looks like he’s gonna keel over.” Sweet Pea mumbles into your ear and you try not to laugh. “I bet Betty is pissed at him.” You comment and everyone nods. “She’s going to ‘have words with him’ as she put it; are we taking bets on if they break-up or not.” “Come on Toni that’s a shit thing to do.” Archie comments and she grins back. “You’re just pissed cause you lost the last time we bet.” “Shut up.” Archie laughs and you sigh, surprised at how quickly everything returns to normal.
Everyone at school knows; you don’t see the point in trying to hide it; nobody expects any different from a Serpent; although you have to admit having Toni and by extension Cheryl to back you up means no one actually says what they’re thinking about you. Jughead asks to talk to you; he and Betty reconnected yet again; Archie lost fifteen bucks once more and complains to both Ronnie and you about it. “What do you need.” He glares at you; despite having been the one to ask to talk. “You’ll have to be more specific.” You fake a smile. “For the kid; as leader of the Serpent’s I have a responsibility to make sure you and said kid are taken care of and-“ “Leader of the Serpent’s that’s what you’re going with?” You scoff and he shakes his head. “I didn’t ask for this.” “And you think I did?”
“You didn’t do anything to change it.” He snaps and you sigh. “Listen; I don’t need shit from you and your “I’m leader of the Serpents” crap you’re spewing; either you take actual responsibility or just stay the fuck away from me. You have Betty to deal with I’m not going to drag you from how perfect and wonderful she is.” You mock and snap. “I can handle it. I don’t need you.” You expect him to hesitate to ask if you need anything. Instead he just nods. “Good. Keep it that way. Betty better not find out.” “Is that a threat?” “If she doesn’t find out then it won’t be.” He stalks from the room.
“You okay Y/N? You seem kinda shakey?” Sweet Pea snaps you from the daze you were in. “Yeah just tired.” You try to shrug off Jughead’s words but they linger in the back of your mind making you tremor slightly. “Come on. Let’s head home.” You nod letting Sweet Pea grab your bag. “So?” He prompts and you let him pull you against him as he spoons you on the couch; one of his hands draped over the bump on your stomach. “What did Jones want?” “To threaten me; well imply a threat; he doesn’t want Betty to find out.” Sweet Pea narrows his eyes. “I’m pretty sure her and half the school know; little hard to hide it yeah?” His hand moves lightly upwards to turn your face to kiss him. “Not that; just the whole dad thing.” You shrug and Sweet Pea sighs into your hair. “Everyone assumes it’s mine; there’s no need to stress; even Fangs doesn’t know, just in case he lets it slip.”
“I’m not worried about them it’s just shit Jughead just used me for a quick fuck and he gets to walk away from all this; and I’d be the bitch if I said anything.” You sniffle and Sweet Pea sits up slightly wiping your tears. “I know baby, I’m sorry he’s being such a dick about everything; it really is shit.” He pulls the throw blanket over you as he goes to answer a knock on his door. “Hey Sweet Pea is Y/N around?” “What do you want Jones?” “Just to clarify some things we talked about earlier is all.” “Oh you mean when you threatened her?” You peer from the edge of the couch keeping out of sight of the door.
“Listen Sweet Pea I don’t expect you to understand but-“ You can’t see anything as he closes the door. You can hear, surprised no one else seems to hear their shouting match. “You don’t expect me to understand what? You playing pretend at being a good leader for the Serpents? You threatening my girl? You running off and hiding after being an irresponsible fuck boy? I get it, I understand perfectly why you don’t want this getting out; can’t have the leader of the Serpent’s not stepping up and taking care of what’s his can we? But you need to understand something Jones; you don’t get to say shit; you don’t get to have anything to do with this beyond what Y/N needs help with; because if you don’t I’ll go straight to Alice; and I’ll tell her exactly what you did behind her daughters back; before you two had officially broken up no less.” “You wouldn’t-“ “You wanna test that out?” “It goes against Serpent laws for you to-“ You jump when something hits the side of the trailer.
“Serpent law states we protect are own; what the fuck you doing to protect Y/N huh? Running off with some Northsider who likes to use us when she gets in trouble? Allowing one of our own to get killed cause you couldn’t offer him sanctuary after he got out of prison? What about Fangs; kicking him out cause he’s trying to help his mom; you gonna do that to Y/N? You need us to follow you; but if you think you’re the one directing us.” You can hear something thud and you realize Sweet Pea had hoisted Jughead against the side of the trailer moments ago. You don’t move and don’t say anything straining to hear if they’re talking more or not. “What happened?” You ask when Sweet Pea walks back in.
“Nothing Jones just wanted to see if you were okay; said he was sorry about the threat earlier.” “Oh that’s good then.” You don’t say anything as Sweet Pea lifts you and moves you against his chest as you return to spooning before the interruption. “I love you.” You don’t say anything else and keep your eyes straight ahead waiting for a response. You can feel both you and Sweet Pea untense as he smiles responding. “I love you too.” “You have another check up tomorrow, get some rest okay babe?” “Okay.” You nod; not commenting on how when he wraps his arms around you one automatically drifts to protect your stomach.

Spitfire Sweet Pea x Reader
Okay officially a new story, but don’t worry I am still working on some of my unfinished park as well. So if you follow me don’t be discouraged sweet pea kind of just jumped at me
Tumblr media
I followed Archie as he went to warn jughead about the dangers of becoming a serpent, I had to make sure my brother didn’t ruin any chance of keeping his friendship with him, it was my civil duty as younger sister. Jughead was leaving the trailer as we rounded the corner.
“Archie, Aurora,” Jughead started down the steps looking around frantically.
“We gotta talk Jug,” Archie started.
“Uh nows really not a good time, okay, you need to leave, okay, both of you.” Jughead put his hands on Archie’s shoulder but looked over at me, seeming to just remember that I was standing there too.
“What the hell is going on!” Archie tried to get jughead to talk to him.
“Serious man, take your sister and just go.” Jughead started to try to push Archie way.
“What the hell do we have here?” A strong deep voice that didn’t belong to Archie nor jughead growled from behind us. I whipped my head around to find a rather tall fierce looking serpent with what appeared to be the aftermath of a black eye slowly fading away from his left eye socket, making his way up to us. He was flanked by a few other younger serpents I had seen around. Fangs Fogarty being one of them, he and I had spoken on the occasion and he was one of the few that were nice to me.
“They’re just leaving alright.” Jughead said as he walked over to the tall serpent.
“You’re friends with these thugs?” Archie exclaimed from behind me. My head whipped in his direction ripping my eyes away from the serpents and their leather clad shoulders. Was he being serious.
“It’s not what you think,” Jughead stood slightly in front of the serpents as Archie walked up to him.
“Are you joining the serpents?” Archie questioned incredulously.
“If he survives.” Tall dark and stormy said dangerously. His voice was deeper than I originally thought.
I could see his serpent tattoo on his neck as he looked over at Jughead. “And go ahead and call us thugs one more time.” He started to make his way to Archie and I, a hard look written on his face, he clearly wanted a fight and if I didn’t get Archie out of here soon he surely would get what he wanted.
“Jughead! These are the guys that attacked me.” Jughead placed a hand on the tall serpents shoulder and pushed him back keeping him at arms length away from Archie and I. “And Reggie and Veronica and Dilton, your friends,” Jughead scowled at Archie, I was going to have my hands full with these boys if they didn’t stop soon.
“Is that why you’re here? To warn me?”
“No, I came here to tell you to stay away from Betty and Rory, she doesn’t want to see you anymore, and I don’t want to see you hanging around my place for my sister.” I could see the anger rolling off Jughead in waves. I noticed the tall serpent look over to Fangs and roll his eyes.
“Screw you I just saw Betty yesterday she,” a look of complete horror crossed his face “she was fine.”
“No dude, she’s been wanting to break up with you for weeks, she’s been agonising over it, since you crossed to the dark side, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.” Archie returned a look of remorse on his face.
“What so she sent you, Betty would never do that!”
“If you don’t believe me then call her, and feel free to tell her you’re a serpent now too I’ll bet she’ll love that, she saw where you were headed Jughead, okay we all did, and she knows you can’t be with them and with her and come on man you know it too.” I watched as Archie’s words started to sink in for Jughead, his bottom lip started to wobble slightly and tears gathered in his eyes. Suddenly his face changed.
“Tell Betty I got the message,” a hard look was plastered on is face.
“Yeah, come on Aurora, we’re leaving.” And he started to walk away from his best friend.
“I’m sorry Archie but I’m staying, I’ll see you at home.” He shrugged and walked off.
“Rory, just go home, you don’t need to see this.” Jug came closer to me and spoke softly.
“Listen to him Northsider, you don’t need to be here.” The tall serpent called out to me.
“Why don’t you shut the fuck up, I’m going to be here for my friend whether you like it or not!” I turned my gaze to him, he looked shocked for a spilt second before his eyes darkened once again. Jughead turned to the rest of the serpents.
“What! Did you enjoy the show?”
“Show hasn’t even started yet.” Tall, dark and stormy crossed his arms over his chest before chuckling towards Fangs. Soon enough the serpents had made a pathway with Jughead standing at one end. I stood further off to the side to keep watch. As Jughead made his way through the line up of serpents I cringed every time a blow was landed on him. The gauntlet seemed intense, much more intense than the other challenges he had to go through. He had told me about them because I was less judgmental than my brother and the rest of his friends. Jughead spit out some blood before looking at the tall serpent from before.
“That all you got?” Jughead challenged him. There was almost half a foot between the two boys snd I winced when the serpent clenched his fist around a set of brass knuckles and swung for Jughead’s face. He was knocked to the ground and I covered my mouth in shock. I never wanted to be on the wrong side of this serpent. Jughead got back up and spit out some more blood. I held back a gasp as he looked over at me causing the taller serpent to also look over at me. Something flashed in his eyes but it was gone before I could decipher it. The serpents left, tall, dark and stormy giving me one more look before he urned away and followed the rest of them and I walked up to Jug and cradled his face in my hands. I led him into his trailer and sat him down to the dinning table before I walked into the bathroom to grab the first aid kit. I cleaned up the cuts on his face before he stood up.
“I’ve gotta get to the wyrm. You coming or staying here?” He asked, Jughead was always more accepting of me wanting to be involved in things. Archie liked to lock me away from the world and protect me. I nodded at him and got up to follow him out. The tall serpent was playing on my mind the whole time as I wrapped my arms around Jug as we headed to the Whyte wyrm on his bike. He helped me off his bike even though he knows I don’t need the help, and we made our way inside where the lighting was tinged slightly red and it was dimmer than outside. I squinted before my eyes adjusted and Jughead placed his hand on the small of my back and lead me to the bar where a pink haired girl was standing behind the bar.
“I see you survived Juggie, Tall boy is just over there if you want to go get your very own jacket.” She said to him. He nodded at her before turning to me. I waved him off and turned around on the stool to the girl.
“I’m Aurora, but I usually go by Rory.” I held my hand out to her to shake. She shook it grinning.
“I’m Toni, but I usually go by Toni.” She giggled which caused me to giggle with her. My eyes found Jughead again just as he slipped his arms into his new serpent jacket. I smiled fondly at him.
“Are you two together?” She asked me as she poured out a glass of coke and pushed it towards me. I shook my head taking a large sip of the drink.
“No he’s my brothers best friend, but he knows that I’m more accepting of all of this than Archie is, or really any of our friends.” She nodded at me before gesturing behind me.
“Sweet pea hasn’t stopped watching you since you walked in.” I whipped my head around to look where she was looking and I noticed the tall serpent that had done Jug’s initiation. I looked down at what I was wearing, ripped black skinny jeans with a loose fitting band t-shirt, I don’t think I stood out that much. I shrugged at Toni before turning back around to her, before I could open my mouth to say something to her I heard a booming deep voice from behind me.
“You lost northsider?” I swivelled around on my stool and looked up at the giant of a serpent member.
“No I came with Jughead, got a problem take it up with him.” I turned back around to face Toni as she filled up my glass once again. His hands came to rest on the bar on either side of me, I felt his breath on the back of my neck and involuntarily shivered and I turned my head to look at him. All I could see of him was his deep brown eyes and a dark curl falling onto his forehead.
“The names Sweet Pea, but you are definitely not supposed to be here, this place is for serpents only.” He pulled away from me and I turned back around to look at him as he stared down at me. I could see Jughead out of the corner of my eye but he didn’t intervene he knew I could hold my own.
“Well then I might just have to become a serpent myself, I like this place.” I shrugged and I watched as both Sweet Pea and Jughead’s eyes nearly popped out of their heads.
“You want to become a serpent?” I heard from somewhere off to the side of me. I ripped my gaze away from Sweet Pea and looked at the serpent who spoke. I took a deep breath and nodded my head. Archie could kill me later, I wanted this. Everyone had been nothing but accommodating to me in the short time I had been sitting at the bar. Some of the older serpents had even tried to talk to me while I was talking to Toni. “Names Tall boy little lady, if you want to be a serpent then initiation will start for you tomorrow. Be here at 12 noon, and be ready.” He turned around and walked back up to what I assumed was the office reserved for only the leader of the serpents, usually FP but with him in jail it was Tall boy. Everyone went back to their own business after that including sweet pea, but Jughead made his way over to me.
“Are you insane? Archie will kill you!” Jughead sat down next me and I shrugged.
“I’m sick of being looked down upon as only Archie’s little sister. It’s time for me to be my own person don’t you think?” I asked him crossing my arms against my chest.
“I knew you and I were too similar for Archie’s liking.” He pulled me into his chest as he chuckled looking around. “I don’t know what they do for female initiation though so maybe talk to Toni about it.” I nodded against his chest before pushing him away and turning to Toni.
“So what happens? What have I gotten myself into this time?” She chuckled before filling a shot glass up with whiskey.
“You’re in for a real treat. Everything is basically the same, you get hotdog, gotta recite the serpent laws and gotta grab the knife. Only difference is us girls gotta do a strip tease for the other members.” I scrunched my face up at her as she pushed the shot glass to me. “Drink up, I think you need it because you didn’t think this through.” I nodded at her and downed the shot of whiskey. It ran smoothly down my throat without even earning a grimace from me.
“Wow that’s good, I’ve never had whiskey that smooth before.” I felt a body come up behind me.
“It’s the best the wyrm has to offer.” He breathed into my ear. I turned around and saw an older man maybe in his mid 30’s leaning against the bar beside me. “Only the best for the prettiest girl here.” He brushed a strand of my hair away from my face. “Names Jason sweet cheeks, what’s yours?”
“Aurora.” I could see Toni wanting to say something but I shot her a look to not do anything. Her eyes flickered behind me almost startled.
“Well Aurora, could I buy you a drink?” He asked me leaning in a little bit too close. I nodded my head and he gestured for Toni to get me a drink of the whiskey I had had before. I looked back around the wyrm and noticed Fangs, Sweet Pea and Jughead were all standing by a pool table. Sweet Pea was lining up a shot but our eyes connected briefly before Jason grabbed my attention again by placing his hand on my thigh. “I can’t wait for you to do he dance tomorrow night sweet cheeks.” His eyes were hooded and I could tell he had been drinking most of the night. Jughead came over just as Jason’s hand travelled further up my thigh.
“It think its time to go Rory.” He said to me placing a hand in my shoulder and glancing at he older serpent. I nodded and turned back to Jason.
“Thank you for the drink and the company, I’ll see you around.” With that Jughead lead me out to his bike to take me home.
I pulled off Jughead’s helmet from my head and passed it to him.
“Thanks for tonight, I’ll make sure not to tell Archie about any of it.” He gave me a hug and he was on his way home. I made my way inside the house and up to my room, getting stopped by Archie before I could open my door.
“Have fun with the snakes tonight?” He sneered at me, Archie had never been this way with me and I was curious as to way he suddenly changed his attitude during the night.
“What’s wrong with you? Your best friend just became a serpent to protect himself and his dad and all you can do is make his life hell by saying Betty doesn’t want to be with him anymore? You’re a real great friend there Arch, have fun being on your own because I think he’s done with you now. Because I know I sure am.” I hissed at him before going into my own room.
Sweet Pea POV
I watched as the red head that stuck around to watch the gauntlet for Jones walked in, she held herself differently from every other northsider. Instead of the air around her feeling arrogant she was just confident. She was wearing ripped black skinny jeans and a band t-shirt and I found myself staring at her. Fangs nudged me in the side before giving me a look like go and talk to her. I shook my head at him and took my shot at the pool table ready to destroy Fangs.
“You know, she’s actually really nice, she’s always treated me like I was an actual person. We have bumped into each other at pop’s a few times. Other than being that red headed weirdo’s sister she’s pretty cool.” I chose to ignore him completely but I looked up at her a few times during our game. I noticed she got along with Toni well, the two giggling at something before the red head turned around to look in our direction. She looked down at herself before shrugging and turning back to Toni. I pushed my pool cue into Fangs before I made my way over to the two girls keeping my eyes on her at all times.
“You lost Northsider?” I sneered at her.
“No, I came with Jughead, got a problem with it take it up with him.” She turned back around to face Toni. I moved closer to the girl and placed both my hands on the bar on either side of her. I watched as she shivered as my breath hit the back of her neck. She turned her head to look at me and I was suddenly overcome with the feeling that I should kiss her. Her bright green eyes shone under the dim lights of the wyrm. I could tell she was intently looking at me too.
“The names Sweet Pea, but you are definitely not supposed to be here, this place is for serpents only.” I whispered in her ear before moving away from her. I watched as she glanced over to Jones before looking me in the eyes the best she could from her sitting position.
“Well then I might just have to become a serpent myself, I like this place.” I nearly choked on my own spit as Jones came up to us almost choking as well.
“You want to become a serpent?” I heard Tall Boy say as he made his way over to our small group. She nodded and looked at him. “Names Tall boy little lady, if you want to be a serpent then initiation will start for you tomorrow. Be here at 12 noon, and be ready.” With that he walked away, everyone else turned away from the scene and after I gave her one last look I made my way back over to Fangs.
After a game I watched as an older serpent named Jason made his way over to her, he was getting too close to her snd I could tell she was becoming uncomfortable with it.
“Dude, just go over there. She’s got bite and could give you a run for your money. But stop staring its weird.” Fangs shoved my side again before I took my shoot watching her out of the corner of my eye. I watched as she downed the shot of whiskey he bought her. She looked around the bar and our eyes connected briefly causing me to mess up my shot when he placed his hand on her thigh. She jumped slightly at the contact and I felt my jaw tense, he needs to learn how to keep his damn hands to himself. Jughead watched me before he made his way over to her and lead her out. I walked up to Toni to get myself a beer to calm down.
“You were watching her all night.” Toni said as she cleaned a glass that had just been washed. I didn’t give her an answer because it wasn’t a question. “You helping with her initiation?”
“I don’t get why she gets to just say ‘I think it’ll be fun to be a serpent’ and bam her initiation is tomorrow, most of us are relatives of old serpent members. Ahhh”. Slammed my hand down on the bar in front of me.
“Dude just chill, okay, she’s actually really cool once you get to know her.” Toni told me getting me another beer.
“I’ll be the judge of that. I’m sure Tall boy will make me do her initiation anyway.” I shrugged before finishing off my last bear and nodding to Toni and Fangs before I left.
Aurora POV
The next day I made sure Archie was nowhere to be seen when I made my way out the door. He was stood against my car with his arms crossed.
“Where do you think your going? And dressed like that?” He asked me, I looked down at what I was wearing, ripped grey skinny’s with a tight fitting tank top and leather jacket across my shoulders, under this I was wearing a sexy pair of red lacy lingerie ready for the serpent dance I would be doing later that night.
“I’m going out, to see your best friend because apparently you’ve forgotten you have one.” I tried to push him out of the way to get to my car.
“He chose them Rory, what do you want me to do?” He threw his hands up for emphases before letting them fall at his sides loudly.
“I want you to understand why he’s doing this. He goes to school there! From what I’ve heard it is not the best place to be if your not in a gang for protection, you might not think much of the serpents but in the few short months that I’ve been around Jug and the serpents I haven’t had a problem with them, so maybe get off your high horse and see that your best friend needs you before he replaces you with someone he see’s more as family!” I yelled at him as I finally got him to move away from my car. I slammed the door in his face and watched as his face fell as I drove out of the driveway.
My initiation was quick and all too soon I was standing by the stage ready to perform my serpent dance. I wrung my hands together as Toni walked up to me holding a shot glass.
“They’re all pigs out there, but its part of initiation and if you want to be a serpent all I can say to you is good luck and maybe find something or someone to focus on.” She held out the glass to me and without even thinking I downed the shot, feeling it spread throughout my body as the music started. “I’ll be waiting right here for you with your new jacket.” She gave me a thumbs up and I walked out on the stage.
I looked out into the sea of serpents hoping to find Jughead to have something to focus on. As I flung my shirt off my body my eyes connected with Sweet Pea’s, he held his beer in his hand bringing it up to his lips as I shimmied out of my jeans. He and I held eye contact as I finished up my dance. I could hear all the serpents chanting and hollering at me but all I could focus on was Sweet Pea. As the music stopped I rushed off the stage where Toni was standing with my jeans and new serpent jacket. I quickly redressed myself as Fangs and Sweet Pea joined us to the side of the stage. Sweet Pea helped me put my jacket on before he gathered up my hair to pull out of my collar.
“You’re officially a serpent now. How do you think your brothers going to react once he finds out?” He placed his hands on my shoulders. I shared a look with Toni, I had completely forgotten about Archie today.
“I guess he’ll just never find out then.” I shrugged as the four of us made our way to the bar. I felt Sweet Pea squeeze my shoulder before he sat down on a stool and turned to Toni who had already grabbed beers for us all.
“You’re brother is going to kill you Rory.” I felt Jughead place his hands where Sweet Pea had his moments ago. I shrugged at him as I took a sip of my beer.
“Honestly I think he needs to get his head out of his ass. You guys are actually really cool and I’m glad I get to call you my friends now too. Let him kill me he wouldn’t he loves me too much.” The door to the wyrm was thrown open and all I could see was a bunch of letterman jackets in blue and gold walk in like they owned the joint.
“Aurora! We’re going home now!” I heard Archie yell at me walking over to us at the bar.
“Um, no thanks I’m good here.” I turned my body away from him. He stood over me but I watched as Sweet Pea stood up to my right and Reggie stood up next to Archie. Part of me shied away from Archie and Reggie and the other part of me wanted to be a serpent, so I stood up next to Sweet Pea gently placing my hand on his as a way of telling him to stand down. I placed my body slightly in front of Sweet Pea’s and stared down Archie and Reggie as best I could being nearly a foot shorter than the three boys currently surrounding me.
“You’re one of them now? A serpent?” Archie scoffed in my face, I felt Sweet Pea stiffen slightly and move closer now touching my back with his lower stomach.
“Yes now please leave before you make a fool of yourself even more than your doing now!” I pointed to the door and watched Archie turn his head to look, I grabbed Sweet Pea’s bicep and basically ripped him back towards the bar.
“You know, I’d still bang you Andrew’s even if you are just another serpent slut.” Reggie whispered in my ear closest to Sweet Pea. I felt him tense up again but this time I let him go. He swung his fist into reggie’s jaw and suddenly there was an all out brawl in the middle of the wyrm. I watched Reggie and Sweet Pea continue to go at each other. Archie pulled Reggie off Sweet Pea and Jughead grabbed Sweet Pea.
“You’ve just made a big mistake Rory.” Archie yelled as he dragged the bulldogs out of the wyrm. I turned back to Toni who handed me a shot. I took it gratefully before I turned to Sweet Pea. He had a bruise already starting to form on his cheek and a cut lip.
“You didn’t need to do that Sweet Pea, I can handle Reggie.” I told him placing my hand on his cheek gently so as to not hurt him.
“What’s serpent law number 1 Rory?” He looked me in the eyes.
“No serpent stands alone.” I recited. He nodded and turned his head away from me. “I better go have a screaming match with my brother, I’ll see you guys later.” Toni nodded at me and I made my way out of the wyrm and started my walk back to the Northside

Sweet Pea watched you smoke on the bleachers, alone and glaring at everyone who dares look at your way. You were clearly not a people person from how you act around.
“Who’s that?” Sweet Pea asked, nudging Jughead with his elbow and pointing at your direction discreetly.
The corefour, Toni, Cheryl and Fangs stops whatever they were doing to look at where he pointed and after seeing you, the corefour instantly looked away. “Why? Why do you ask?” Jughead asked, seemingly scared.
Sweet Pea furrowed his brows; all of the corefour seemed scared of you. “Just curious.” He replied.
“His name is (Y/n) (L/n).” Cheryl answered for everyone. “He's the worst type of boy in this school.” She added with a distaste look.
Archie was next to chime in, “He curses at anyone who looks at his way, beats up anyone who mess with him and hates everybody.” His explanation was pretty accurate and the corefour plus Cheryl nodded in agreement, their fear plastered their expression.
“Even Cheryl can't stand up to him.” Veronica comments, earning a glare from the red head, but she didn't deny it.
“The only idiot who stand up to him is Reggie. He kinda have a death wish.” Betty shrugged.
Sweet Pea turned back to look at you and sees that Reggie was now in front of you, obviously provoking you and trying to get a rise out of you. Everyone watched anxiously as Reggie, alone, kept poking your chest with his finger. Though, in Sweet Pea's eyes, Reggie was failing to get a rise out of you as you just sat there on the bleachers looking at him uninterested, blowing out smokes.
They could make out what Reggie was telling you; calling you names, saying you don't belong anywhere, that you deserve to die for being such a jerk. However, you remained unfazed, as if you were used to being called and said to like that. A sigh left your lips as you dropped the cigarette and stepped on it, standing up from the bleachers. Reggie smirked, about to make an snarky comment, but a fist colliding with his face prevents him and he was knocked to the ground. Everyone's eyes widened as you hovered above him, stepping on his hands and errupting a painful yell from him.
“You don't really learn, do you?” Your low and dark voice send a shiver down Sweet Pea's spine. “I told you many times to stay the fuck away from me.” You spat harshly, before raising your clenched fist and punching Reggie in the face with full force.
Everyone panicked as you punched him repeatedly, trying to find a way to stop the fight but failing miserably. No one can stop you, not even Weatherbee, and if you continued punching Reggie he might not live. A loud crack was heard, possibly from Reggie's nose.
Sweet Pea watched the way you punched Reggie — he somehow recognized rage in the way you did, like there was something else you've been going through and you're just letting it out on the Bulldog, switching your hands once in a while when the other hurt too much punching his face. Reggie attempted to push you off of him and he pushed your stomach, and it was just a glimpse but Sweet Pea saw the way pain appeared on your face, before you turned back to repeatedly punching Reggie.
“Stop! Mr. (L/n)! Enough!” Weatherbee yelled, rushing over, but not getting close to you completely.
You looked up from Reggie to him, rage radiating off of you, before it slowly disappeared and was replaced with an annoyed look. You clicked your tongue and got off of Reggie, kicking him on his stomach in the process. Your fist was busted open and bloody, but you didn't care as you grabbed your bag and walked off without turning back.
Sweet Pea stood up from his seat, alarming his friends. “Woah, woah, where are you going?” Jughead asked, stopping him by grabbing his arm.
“To aid (Y/n).” He responded, shrugging casually.
They looked at him as if he was crazy. “Are you crazy? You'll only get a punch in return for trying to help him.” Archie said as he shakes his head.
Sweet Pea smirked, “What a challenge.” Before walking off to follow after you.
The corefour and Cheryl turned to the two serpents, giving them a look. Fangs shrugged, “He likes challenges.”
“It's his fault if he ended up having a blackeye and a bruised lip.” Toni added, earning a nod of agreement from Fangs. They continued to talk all the while the corefour worried about the boy’s safety.
Sweet Pea saw you sitting by the wall in the hallway, clenching and unclenching your fist. Your knuckles were bloody, busted open by the force of punching Reggie in the face. “Stop doing that.” He said, crouching down in front of you, first aid kit in his hands.
You glared at him, “Get the fuck away from me.” Venom can be heard from your tone, but Sweet Pea didn't flinch even a bit. He knew it was coming, seeing as you always did it to everyone.
He ignored your words and stared at your busted open knuckles. “If you keep doing that, it'll get worst.” He scolded, making you roll your eyes.
“What do you want?” You snapped, furrowing your brows in irritation and glaring at him.
“Can't you see what I want?” He retorted, holding out the first aid kit and showing it to you. You rolled your eyes, turning your head away from him and avoiding eye contact. “Let me take a look at it.” He said and grabbed your right hand gently.
You flinched at first, not feeling used to someone being gentle, but didn't smack his hands away. He started working quietly, treating your bloody knuckles as you clenched your jaw and prevented yourself from hissing in pain at the sting.
The way he held your hand as he treated it was so gentle, you could almost hear his thoughts of not wanting it to hurt you too much. There was care and gentleness in his movement; something that you've never experienced before from anyone, ever since the day your mother left you to deal with your alcoholic father. The thought made you so bitter and couldn't help but bite your tongue.
After wrapping a bondage around your right hand, Sweet Pea moved to treat the other hand, his move as gentle and caring as before. Your eyes fell back on him, studying him closely — he was the first one to approach you without getting scared. He was also the first one to show you kindness. You didn't understand why he was being nice to you. Certainly his friends warned him about you, based on how it looked earlier after you caught him pointing at you discreetly. His friends looked scared when they were explaining who you were, and you wondered why this guy didn't find you intimidating or scary.
Instead, he went on helping you treat your busted knuckles. You don't know how to react to it.
“Okay, it's done.” He said, holding both of your hands and looking at it rather proudly.
You looked down on your hands. The bondage aren't wrapped neatly like how the nurses do it, but it was proper enough to cover your wound. There was some sort of signs that he seemed used to treating other's wounds, then you realized he was a serpent. He's probably used to treating wounds from fighting with people.
“Yeah, you’re done. Now, get the hell away from me.” You said, looking at him.
He chuckled, “Are you this always rude?” You rolled your eyes and turned your head away, deciding to just ignore him until he stops bothering you.
You knew he was gonna leave anyway; his kindness won't last long. He'll leave you eventually. Even if you became friends with him, he'll end up being like your mother. He'll end up leaving you, and you'll be alone again. That's a big no-no — being attached to someone and suddenly be left alone is the worst feeling ever.
Even though you were thankful at him for showing you kindness, you had no plan of getting to know him.
“I'm Sweet Pea.” He introduced despite having noticed of your plan to ignore him. “Just thought I'd let you know.” He said before standing up and walking away, deciding he'd bother you tomorrow again.
There was just something in you that he wanted to solve — maybe, he wants to help you in whatever you were going through. So he decided, it was best to climb up a wall that cannot be break down.

You got home from school, immediately noticing the intense smell of alcohol reeking all over the house. Your lips turned downward into a frown, movement becoming cautious as you entered the living room. You met with beer bottles scattering around the floor and the whole living room being a mess, your father sitting on the couch seemingly drunk.
His kind of drunk was the worst.
“Where the fuck have you been?” He said, narrowing his eyes accusingly.
You rolled your eyes, dropping your bag on the floor as starting to pick up the bottles. “School. Where else would I be?”
“Stop lying to me, (Y/n). I know you went to a guy's house. A fag like you can't keep your dick in your pants.” He spat with venom filled tone. “Your mother was a whore, a disgrace! I'm not surprised you grew up to be like her.”
“Well, at least she was trying to provide money for us even when it was through prostitution, unlike you who's still jobless at this age.” You retorted, a thing that you regretted instantly.
“What the fuck did you just say?” Your father was up in a second, smacking your hand harshly causing the beer bottle you were holding to smash on the floor. You didn't say anything and just glared at him, in a defense stance and stepping backwards. It happened so quickly; within a second your father picked up a piece of shattered beer bottle from the floor and slashed your arm with it, and you stumbled back in shock.
Your butt hit the floor as your hand fly up to hold your arm that was slashed by him, pain instantly filling up your body. He was standing in front of your within a second, holding the bloody piece of beer bottle, glaring down at you. “I- I'm- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. I- I didn't mean to talk to you like that.” You stuttered, apologizing, fear eating you up from the inside.
“You'll be sorry once I teach you a lesson.” He said angrily through gritted teeth, before hovering above you and digging the piece of beer bottle on your stomach, a pain filled scream escaping your mouth.
This abuse continued on for a while, his fist colliding with every part of your body as you cried and screamed, begging for him to stop. Your stomach hurts from getting slashed by the piece of beer bottle and him punching it only made the pain increase more.
By the time he was done with you, you were covered in bruises and cuts, your lips busted open, with a blackeye, a bruise forming on your cheek. Every inch of your body hurt as you stared blankly at the ceiling, wondering what your life would be if he wasn't your father. If you had a decent family. Maybe, you wouldn't have been harsh and mean to everyone.
You were just a scared little boy hiding behind the cold, harsh, mean mask. Scared of your father's constant abuse, scared of getting attached to someone and being left alone like how your mother left you, scared of letting anyone in. You were scared of everything. You didn't want people to think you're weak, so you act all tough.
You just didn't want to be left alone, and that's why you always told everyone to fuck off.
Then, your mind wanders off to Sweet Pea. How he showed you kindness, how he wasn't scared of you, how he treated your wound so gently and caringly, and thought that if he was with you right now, he would probably have treated your wound.
You felt warmth in him.
A sudden exhaution took you over after remembering him and you closed your eyes, drifting off to sleep, not even bothering to go back to your room.
You thought of being all alone tomorrow again, unaware that Sweet Pea had no plan to stay away from you.

Notes:
I’d say I’m sorry for starting a 3rd multi chapter series but I’m honestly not. I haven’t written a whole lot for Riverdale, but this idea just kinda came to me and I rolled with it? Anyway, yeah.. If people really like this, I might be tempted to keep this going beyond just the few parts I already kind of have halfway planned.
Huge hug to @twistnet because their writing about Sweetpea kind of awakened and fuelled this and if you’re not reading their fics, you really should tbh.
Summary:
They clearly don’t mix. But sometimes, opposites attract. The only question is will these two’s sparks cause an inferno or go down in flames?
Ugh.. I hate my summaries, thanks.
Pairing:
Andrews!OFC, Alyssa x Sweetpea. Yep. She’s Archie’s sister. I couldn’t resist.
Warnings:
Uhh... teen angst, relationship drama, sexual tension, possible fights / violence here and there and.. That’s pretty much it. Oh yeah and eventually, filth.
Also, this is probably not going to follow seasons 2 through present to the letter. Actually, I’ll venture to warn now, it definitely will not. Because there’s some things in it that I’ve seen so far that make zero actual sense. And there’s probably not going to be a whole lot of Archie,Betty,Jugs and Veronica in here too, because this is me, kind of writing all the side characters into things a little more?

                                                  ONE.
“Sweet Pea, you’ll be working with Alyssa Andrews.”
I didn’t dare turn to look back at the guy. He was probably one of the most intimidating guys in Riverdale High. He hardly spoke to anyone unless it was one of the two friends he happened to have. Neither of them were in this class period.
The teacher, seeming impressed with himself, gave a nod to Sweet Pea and Sweet Pea grumbled, stalking up the aisle and flopping lazily into the empty seat next to mine. Our sides brushed a little when he moved his desk closer after getting a look from our teacher. I tried not to tense up.
Sweet Pea seemed to notice. He smirked at me.
Leaned in a little.
“Relax, cherry. I don’t bite unless I’m asked.” he muttered against my ear. My breath caught in my throat and I was promptly thrown into the mother of all internal uproars. I shoved the book between us wordlessly, not even daring to glance over at him.
I was not about to let him take pride in the fact that he made me blush or rattled me, not even a little.
Our sides brushed again and I pursed my lips, taking a deep breath. Across the classroom, Reggie was already working with one of the other girls on my squad. I watched them laughing and flirting back and forth and I shook my head, rolling my eyes.
“I’m supposed to be his girl and  yet.. It’s as if I don’t even exist.” I muttered, mostly to myself. Annoyed at myself for being hurt over it because it shouldn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things. Reggie was a flirt. I’d known that going into things. I’d tried not to let it get to me. Tried to remind myself that nine times out of ten, he wasn’t doing it intentionally.
But tell that to Mandy. Mandy automatically thinks that any guy who flirts with her is in love with her, my brain weighed in on the matter and I sighed, drumming my nails against the desktop, glancing over my shoulder at the two and rolling my eyes all over again. I just knew I was going to have to hear about this all afternoon at practice.
“So you’re a River Vixen, huh, cherry?” he muttered after a few seconds, nodding to the cheerleading uniform I was wearing. I could feel him staring at me and sure enough, when I bothered to tear my eyes off of Reggie across the room and in full flirt mode with Mandy, he was looking me up and down. He repeated his question.
Just something about the tone he took when asking it both times that he’d done so had me jumpy. Defensive. He said it with this air of disdain. Making it obvious for the thousandth time since our school merged that he hated Riverdale High.
“Mhm.” I kept my best calm and neutral tone, despite the fact that I knew he was probably being judgemental. Or that he was being a tease. Maybe even both. “I have a name, by the way.”
“I know. But you also have bright red hair.” Sweet Pea shrugged, barely containing the smirk the second he realized that maybe he was getting to me.
“Yes. I realize this. But my name is Alyssa.” I muttered, my voice dropping lower. Trying my best not to let the giant of a Serpent intimidate me because that wasn’t who I was. He chuckled, shaking his head.
“Relax… Cherry.” Sweet Pea smirked at me.
“You just had to do that.” I grumbled quietly, shaking my head. I tried to focus more on the reading part of our assignment for today, but I couldn’t. Between Sweet Pea and the fact that I couldn’t tell whether he was teasing me, being an ass overall or a little of both and knowing that my own boyfriend couldn’t be bothered to butt in on my behalf and offer to switch with the guy because ‘his stupid pride’ and his thing against any and all Southsiders, my mind was already too full.
I finished my worksheet and glanced over at Sweet Pea, watching his eyes move over the page. Watching the way his tongue rolled over his lips as he wrote out his answers on the worksheet in front of him.
I jumped when without even looking at me, he muttered calmly, “See somethin you want, cherry?”
“No, I was actually just making sure you were actually doing the work.” I retorted, biting my lip when the words came a little harsher than I meant. He stopped writing and laid down his pencil, glancing up at me.
“Aw. Is somebody mad because her so-called boyfriend ditched her with a Serpent to go work with one of her little Valley girl clone besties?”
“Eat shit.” I snapped, tensing. Holding his gaze defiantly.
“You kiss your boyfriend with that mouth, cherry?”
My cheeks burned hot. Kissing was about all I did to Reggie Mantle with my mouth. And I never seemed to hear the end of it with most of the other girls on my squad, either. It was as if my sex life, or lack thereof, was the main topic of discussion pretty much any given moment.
,, And probably why he’s working with Mandy instead of you right now. You know he’s getting tired of getting stopped at second base.” my mind taunted me. I took a few deep breaths to really keep from losing my temper and I shrugged, not bothering to answer Sweet Pea.
I don’t think I’ve ever made a faster retreat than the one I made the second the bell to end class rang. I grabbed my stuff up in a hurry, flustered and a little annoyed. Definitely angry.
Reggie caught up to me in the hallway, holding out his letterman’s jacket.
The one I’d been in such a rush to leave class that I’d left behind. I was beyond tempted to shove the jacket back at him and tell him maybe he needed to give it to Mandy. Or Veronica. Or any of the other girls he’s constantly talking to. But I bit my tongue and took it.
I didn’t feel like speaking up, telling him it bothered me when he went into charmer mode only to have him promise not to anymore and then turn to do it all over again not even an hour later. The whole thing was infuriating, more than a little redundant by now.
“You okay, princess?”
Reggie eyed me as he asked the question and again, I heavily debated telling him exactly what was wrong with me, but again I chose not to.
It wasn’t worth the argument.
It hurt, but it wasn’t worth the hassle.
I plastered on what I hoped was my best convincing smile and leaned against his side, letting his arm wrap around my waist. “Yeah. It’s fine.”
I tensed when Reggie spoke up, mentioning the fact that I’d gotten paired to work with Sweet Pea for the semester. “Ya know, you could’ve said somethin, princess.”
“You know how Mr. Keaton is, Reg. It wouldn’t have mattered.” I muttered, my jaw clenching just a little because it irritated me. Did he not see that it went both ways and stop to think that maybe, just maybe… If he didn’t feel like it was important to do on my behalf, maybe I didn’t see the sense in making waves for him?
He chuckled, rubbing his chin as he leaned against the locker next to mine when we stopped at mine so I could switch out my books. I stopped digging through my books and notebooks to gaze up at him. “It’s not a big deal.” I shrugged it off.
Honestly? It wasn’t a big deal. I didn’t see any difference between the jerk of a Serpent I’d been paired to work with and Reggie at this particular point in time. ,,I just had an easier time telling one of the two where they could shove it.” my brain saw fit to point this out and I quickly shoved out the intrusive thought.
Reggie wasn’t a bad guy. He just had a few glaring flaws.
At least he wasn’t out late at bars or getting arrested. Or whatever it was that Sweetpea called himself doing as a member of an actual gang.
All I had to go on, of course, were my brother Archie’s interactions with the gang thus far. Outside of Jughead Jones, of course. But to put it technically, Jughead couldn’t really be considered an actual Serpent. Merely one by association.
Reggie seemed content with my answer, pulling me closer as we walked past the section of the hallway where Sweetpea and his friends' lockers were. Glaring at Sweetpea as if he had some kind of point to prove.
What Sweetpea did was petty. And if I were in a better mood and the guy hadn’t spent all morning making his mission to drive me up the wall, I’d have laughed.
“Hey Cherry?”
I stopped and turned back, my hand on my hip. “Again. My name is Alyssa.” I reminded him firmly. We locked eyes and I bit my lip, squirming a little under the intense once over he gave me before meeting my gaze again a few seconds later. I dropped my gaze quickly.
Wait, was I blushing right now?
Why was I blushing right now?
“Leather would look better on you.” Sweetpea rubbed his chin thoughtfully, locking eyes with me again for a few seconds when I dared to look up, thinking the whole staredown was over. What surprised me was that as he was letting his eyes roam over me, sizing me up, I actually felt my stomach flipping and flopping lazily. My breath even caught in my throat a little and despite everything, I felt my cheeks burning just slightly at his words and that look in his eyes when they met mine all over again.
I eyed him with a raised brow. When Reggie practically growled from beside me and I had to throw my arm out to stop him from storming over and Sweetpea smirked, I gave him a dirty look.
“ You think you’re slick, Serpent? Talkin to my girl like that?” Reggie was seconds away from storming over. Starting a fight. A fight that I knew would get him benched during the game tonight. I cleared my throat, tensing in front of him. “Reggie, don’t.”
“Why the hell not, huh? Did you hear what he said to you?” Reggie looked down at me. It was clear he was wound up, the fuse was lit. All I could do was roll my eyes. Keep quiet. Because if I opened my mouth right now, I was going to wind up arguing with Reggie. And it was over something stupid. Pointless. I knew what Sweetpea was up to right now. If Reggie didn’t, that wasn’t exactly my problem.
Yes, I was still very bitter about his lack of a solution in class earlier. That was it. That was the entire reason I wasn’t about to step up and defend my relationship with Reggie after Sweetpea’s remark called it to question.
,, now he says something. It only took Sweetpea being an ass. Questioning Reggie’s role as my boyfriend. Oh no, he couldn’t stop me from being paired with Sweetpea earlier, when he knew it made me uncomfortable. He wanted to make it into my fault that I said nothing, too.”  the thought came, making me even more irritable, especially when I couldn’t shove it out.
Sweetpea smirked when our eyes met again and I bit my lip, quickly dropping my gaze. God forbid I stir things up even further…
,, why does it feel like I’m gonna come undone when he looks at me like that? He’s clearly doing it just to get under Reggie’s skin, there’s no way in hell he actually wants me.” I found myself thinking, only to get annoyed by the fact that yes, it did bother me to know that.
XXX
“The guy spent the whole period hitting on another girl. Right in front of her. I mean, it’s her fault if she’s too stupid to take that as a huge hint.” Sweetpea finished his tangent and promptly raised his brows, swallowing the food he’d shoveled in as he’d been ranting to Toni and Fangs.
Toni and Fangs shared a look.
“I knew he liked her. I called it.” Toni teased triumphantly, high fiving Fangs.
“What the fuck? No!” Sweetpea practically growled the words. Glaring at both Toni and Fangs when they gave him a look as if to say ‘Riiiight. Sure ya don’t.’ but said nothing. “I’m just pointing out she’s obviously too stupid to see what’s obvious.”
“And that little dig in the hallway was what?” Toni questioned, laughing when all Pea could do was open and close his mouth and then finally take a very aggressive bite of his burger. “It was me, stirring her up. Look, she’s hot. That’s it.” Sweetpea insisted firmly.
“If that were it, you wouldn’t always be glancing over at her. Getting that angry look whenever you see her around with that prick Mantle.” Fangs pointed out, earning him a glare from Sweetpea. Fangs continued, despite it. “And the whole reason you moved the fight from Andrews house to that vacant lot after you saw her in the upstairs window.. Why did you do that, again?” smirking when Sweetpea clenched his fists and grumbled at him, answering quietly, “I didn’t think it’d be right for her to have to watch her brother getting his ass handed to him. That’s it.”
A throat clearing had the three looking up.
Alyssa stood there, a hand on her hip. Glaring down at Sweetpea who flashed her a smirk.
“See something you want, cherry?” Sweetpea teased, taking a handful of fries from his plate, biting into them. Holding her gaze steady. A little annoyed with himself at the way his heart fluttered and sped up just the slightest as he did this.
“It’s.. You know what? Nevermind. Call me whatever, I don’t care. But no. I don’t. I did come over here to tell you whatever it is you're up to, I don’t appreciate being dragged into the middle of it. I know you’re only doing this in the first place to wind Reggie up. I’m not stupid.” Alyssa said the words with a jaw clenched tight. Glaring at Sweetpea.
Until he licked his lips and Toni happened to see the way her eyes followed the movement helplessly and began to really sit there and quietly assess the situation. Smiling to herself as her own suspicions formed exactly as to why Sweetpea’s actions as of late bothered Alyssa Andrews so much.
She kept it to herself.
Sweetpea chuckled and shrugged. “Don’t know why it bothers you. The guy’s an asshole. Do better, Cherry.” he waved his hand dismissively at her as if he were shooing her from the spot she stood in at the end of the table. Alyssa glared and folded her arms, tapping her foot as her mouth opened and closed for a minute or two.
Then she turned sharp and stormed off. Finding her own table with Reggie and the rest of the football players and cheerleaders.
Sweetpea found himself staring at her, shaking his head. Clenching his fists. “I don’t get it. How does she not see her whole thing with that asshole is one sided, huh?”
“The more important question to ask, Pea, is why in the hell it bothers you so much? They’re Northsiders man, leave ‘em to whatever it is.” Fangs shrugged everything off, taking a sip of the soda in front of him as he leaned back in the chair lazily.
Sweetpea ignored his friend and found himself watching the table Alyssa sat at again. Watching her. The way she threw her head back to laugh. The bright little smile that gave him the distinct feeling that yes, she could certainly be a handful if she really wanted to and she were really being her truest self. He  glared at Reggie when the two locked eyes after a few minutes.
And while the advice his best friend Fangs gave him was a good idea in theory, it was not an idea good enough to stop Sweetpea. Even though Sweetpea knew good and well that it probably should’ve been.
He needed to just let go.
He’d die before admitting it, but knowing he’d never have a chance with her only made him want her so much more. Enough that maybe the thought took root.. Maybe he could keep stirring things up. At the very least, Reggie wouldn’t have her all to himself anymore after it all played out. ,, and anybody is better than that fucking prick Mantle.” Sweetpea shoved the thought out of his head as soon as it came, because he knew deep down it was a lie.
He wanted her. All to himself.

FP had asked you to join him with Jughead in the meeting room for the Serpents at the school. When you came in he was speaking to them about something. “As I was saying. Some of you are a little out of control. Which is where (Y/N) comes in.” FP summed up.
“Don’t worry.” Jughead muttered to you when he saw your eyes go wide and you started to count everything you’d ever done in your life that could be considered a crime.
“Sweet Pea, Fangs you’re getting stuck with (Y/N). You run everything by her.” FP said.
“What! She’s not one of us and this is just stupid!” Sweet Pea complained immediately.
“Right and you trashing that building last night was the last straw. I can’t let you boys get away with everything. I can’t… ground you so, (Y/N).” FP said firmly and everyone looked at you. Toni gave you a sympathetic look. The look on your face was the one she imagined a rabbit who had been trapped and coiled up by a snake would have as it realised it couldn’t escape.
“So what she just follows us around and snitches on us?” Sweet Pea continued complaining.
“Oh no. She’s in charge.” FP said forcefully.
“I am?” You asked under your breath and Jughead chuckled.
“If (Y/N) says don’t do it, you don’t. If she says jump you jump. If I hear you haven’t, it’s game over for you. Until you learn to follow orders.” FP continued. He and Sweet Pea started arguing as you turned to Jughead who had been joined by Betty.
“I see FP’s idea went over well.” She said and smiled at you.
“Is he sure this is a good idea. I know I was looking after Hot Dog for you but Sweet Pea… is a lot bigger than a dog.” You muttered and Jughead let out a laugh.
“Yeah but he behaves like one. FP is just hoping your good behaviour will rub off on Sweet Pea. He gets a little…” Toni said as she came over. She trailed off as Sweet Pea tossed a table across the room.
“I’m not even a Serpent don’t you have a law that says outsiders can’t babysit badly behaved serpents?” You said hopefully.
“It’s only during school and maybe a couple of hours after.” Jughead said hopefully.
“Fine but only because it’s both of them. I like Fangs. He’s nice.” You said finally. Jughead nodded and patted your shoulder as he thanked you.
After a little longer everyone had cleared out. “So then. What do we up to first!” Sweet Pea said as he clapped his hands and grinned wickedly.
“Should I be concerned about you causing me any trouble?“ You asked reluctantly.
“No.”
“Yes!”
Fangs and Sweet Pea said at the same time. “We won’t be a problem. We know keeping us in check was a big thing for FP to ask for you.” Fangs said and gave you a friendly smile.
“We’re going to the Speakeasy later. I guess you’ll have to come.” Sweet Pea muttered.
“Oh! I can’t. My boss makes me work extra shifts. He said I didn’t work enough hours to get paid last week. He wants me to drop out of school.” You explained. Fangs and Sweet Pea shared a look.
“Not to worry. We’ll have a few words with him. You’ll be missing out on Veronica’s Halloweek celebrations!” Sweet Pea said in a tone that made you unsure if they were threatening your boss or genuinely going to have some words.
“Tell us how much you worked last week too and we’ll see if he’ll change his mind.” Fangs said with a friendly smile as Sweet Pea tucked you under his arm and guided you out of the room, towards your next class.
“Oh! You don’t need to do all that. I don’t mind…” You said quickly. You caught Betty’s eye as you passed her with Kevin by their lockers. You tried to give her a pleading look of help. She excused herself and hurried after the three of you. She didn’t reach you until you’d been shoved into your classroom and patted on the head. “What’s going on?” She asked.
“They’re skipping class and maybe committing a crime? But I’m not really sure.” You muttered quietly. Betty sighed and nodded.
“Me and Jug did say that FP’s golden goose plan might not work.”
“Golden goose?” You asked as the two of you peaked out of the classroom to see Sweet Pea gathering a few friends and heading towards the doors.
“Well, he was hoping that your goodness would rub off on Sweet Pea and that he could just stick you with anyone to be rebellious and you’d straighten them out. Keep in on the right path. You know. You’d be his golden goose.” Betty explained and you frowned.
“They’re going to talk to my boss about… well you know.”
“Well at least your boss is actually an ass. Maybe he’ll finally let you quit and you can work for Ronnie.” She pointed out as you took your seats at your desk.
“I just hope FP doesn’t think I deployed them to do my wicked whim.” You said quietly.
“Oh believe me he won't think that.” She assured you.

The Story of Us - It takes a village
Time flies and it’s been a little while since I added anything new to my collection of short one shots/drabbles but a few days ago a wonderful idea by @tikigoddess caught my attention and wouldn’t let me go. You can find the original post here or if you don’t want to be spoiled
Read below or on Ao3
“Are you sure you guys are gonna be fine on your own? I can just tell Veronica to reschedule. Or maybe we can stay in. I’m sure she could bring the whole spa over here if she wanted.”
“Betts,” Jughead says, placing a hand on her shoulder to stop her nervous rambling, the other hand cradling their baby daughter against his chest. “We’ll be just fine. Mia will probably sleep most of the time you’re away anyway while I’ll try to get some writing done. No need to worry about us.”
It’s been only six weeks since Mia Isabella Jones has entered their lives, causing everything they do to stop and focus on her. And while Jughead is more than willing to do that, assuming the role of a full time dad with pride, he’s also still a husband, one of his duties being that he needs to force his wife to take time for herself and relax.
“But what if...” Betty tries to protest but Jughead stops her.
“No what ifs. You’re only going to Greendale. If something were to happen, which it won’t, Veronica’s driver will have you back in no time.”
With a resigned sigh Betty nods and Jughead knows just how she feels. Every moment spent away from their daughter feels like forever. And for someone as young as her, it probably is. Even though she spends most of her day sleeping, completely unaware of her parents’ presence.
“I’ll miss this sweet face,” Betty says, her lips down-turned as she strokes Mia’s cheek, the little girl rewarding her with a toothless smile.
“I’ll miss yours too.” Jughead grins, making her chuckle. “But it’s only a few hours and you deserve time for yourself.”
Just then a car honks outside of their house, signaling Veronica’s arrival.
With dozen kisses to Mia’s face and a few spare for him, Betty is out of the door, finally leaving the father-daughter duo alone.
“It’s just you and me kiddo,” Jughead whispers and for a moment he worries Mia will feel the lack of her mother’s presence and break into tears. He sure would in her place. But instead she just lets out a quiet gurgle and snuggles into his chest.
“I know, I’ll miss mommy too,” he says, pressing a kiss to the top of her head. Not sure if more for her comfort or his. “But I promise we’ll have fun.”
Jughead may have exaggerated the term fun when twenty minutes later Mia is sleeping soundly in her crib while he stares at the blank screen of his computer, willing the words to come to him. It’s difficult to get into the zone though, as a thought in the back of his mind keeps nagging him, telling him he’s forgetting something important. He’s ran through the mental checklist of baby care twice already, making sure his daughter was safe and satisfied but the feeling doesn’t go away.
It’s only when his phone rings and a frustrated “Jones, where are you? We’ve been waiting for twenty minutes.” comes from the other end that he realizes what he’s been forgetting this whole time. The monthly Serpents’ meeting.
While the previous month, due to Mia being barely two weeks old, Toni, as his second in command, lead the meeting, this month Jughead promised to check back in himself. A thought that quickly slipped his mind in the hustle and bustle of his everyday life.
What was once a five minute bike drive now turned into half an hour as Jughead triple checked the contents of the diaper bag before loading Mia into the car seat and setting off towards the White Wyrm. By the time he arrives, the Serpents are already waiting, faces predictably twisted with annoyance that quickly dissipates and turns into smiles once they notice the sleeping baby strapped to his chest. His daughter does tend to have that sort of effect on people.
“Sorry for the delay, guys,” Jughead says as they all settle into their chairs, “but as you can see, I have a very cute excuse.”
It’s barely ten minutes later when he’s running his hand through his hair in frustration. He’s forgotten how these meetings can sometimes go, especially with new members of the gang and without Betty by his side to shut them up with a single look before they have a chance to say something stupid.
“It’s just weed. What’s the big deal?” the newest member of the gang, a self-nicknamed guy called Sniper, asks, crossing his arms. He looks like a toddler about to throw a tantrum and Jughead hoped he was at least two years away from having to deal with that.
“The Serpents don’t deal drugs. It’s one of the main rules and you know that,” Jughead says, trying to keep his tone firm and serious. He knows that the adorable baby strapped to his chest may be making it a bit more difficult to take him seriously but he tries anyway.
Sniper rolls his eyes with an exaggerated huff, muttering something about the gang being boring. Then he pulls out a pack of cigarettes but Toni slaps the lighter out of his hand before he can light one.
“Are you crazy? There is a baby here,” she says, her eyes flaming with anger.
“Yeah, and Fangs has asthma. The Wyrm is a strict no smoking zone,” Sweet Pea growls, standing up to tower over the new guy for emphasis.
Sniper takes a quick look around him, as if wondering whether anyone will back him up, but the other Serpents just shake their heads and send him disapproving looks. “What kind of stupid gang is this?” he grumbles, kicking a chair angrily.
The sudden noise startles Mia from her slumber, a loud wail piercing through the air in an instant.
“See? Now you made the baby cry. Get out of here!” Sweet Pea snarls, pushing him towards the exit.
Jughead’s hand immediately comes up to Mia’s back, trying to soothe her with gentle strokes. “It’s okay, sweetie,” he talks to her in the softest voice possible, “sorry that poopy head woke you up.” He hears a couple of people snicker at his choice of words but ignores them, bouncing lightly on his feet, hoping to quickly put her back to sleep. The first three weeks of her life, bouncing on a fitness ball was the only sure-fire way to get her to sleep but Betty and Jughead have since moved on from bringing the ball with them everywhere so this is the most he can do now.
The little girl isn’t having it though, her tiny face scrunching up and her cries growing louder. Some of the Serpents, mostly the ones who don’t have kids on their own, start looking uncomfortable, clearly not sure how to deal with the situation. A crying baby is not a common problem during gang meetings.
“Let me hold her. Maybe she’s just sick of all the testosterone in the air,” Toni says and after a moment of hesitation Jughead carefully extracts Mia from the baby carrier.
“Be careful,” he tells her and she shoots him a look that says: “ I know what I’m doing better than you do.” . He supposes she’s right. After all, she has her own tiny person at home and therefore a lot more experience than he does. Still, it doesn’t stop him from worrying whenever he hands his daughter to someone else.
Toni’s presence doesn’t seem to help though, as Mia continues to prove to everyone how strong her lungs are.
“Let me try,” an older Serpent comes up to Toni, reaching his hands out for the baby. “My girls always liked to be rocked in a specific way.”
Jughead runs his hand through his hair, wondering how the direction of the meeting changed so quickly. Ah, right, Sniper was being an idiot.
Betty often teases him about how the Serpents have hardly resembled a gang in the past half a decade. He usually tries to oppose her, saying that a gang isn’t defined by doing criminal activities or riding motorcycles (many of the Serpents have exchanged theirs for family cars). But looking at them now, all he sees is a group of dorks in leather jackets, passing along a crying baby in a poor attempt to get her to stop crying.
“Your ugly face is only making her cry more.” He hears Sweet Pea say to a Serpent called Hisser who is trying to pull funny faces at Mia, before taking the baby from him. “Babies like being sung to,” he says, taking a deep breath before a slightly husky rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star reverberates through the bar.
“You’re singing it wrong,” Fangs interrupts him, starting the song again and several other Serpents start humming alongside him.
To everyone’s surprise, by the time they finish the song for the second time, the crying stops, Mia’s bright green eyes half closed and heavy with sleep.
“We did it, boss!” Fangs whisper yells in excitement as Sweet Pea continues to rock the baby in his arms until her eyes close completely.
As Jughead watches them, he realizes he could hardly ask for a better family for his daughter. Raising a child really takes a village. And sometimes that village is a group of gang member singing lullabies in a bar.
_______________
“Oh my god!” Betty exclaims with a giggle as a video of the Serpents singing to her daughter plays on her phone. Underneath a message from Toni says: "The Serpent Princess already has them wrapped around her tiny finger.”
