Seeing people choose jazz and call it boring is horrifying...y'all have been listening to smooth jazz for too long you haven't experienced the pure chaos of the good shit. The dissonant chords, "odd" time signatures, syncopations on syncopations...Jazz is so full of life and love and energy oh my god

Edit: I'm making a correction to my opinion on smooth jazz. It's a VERY calming and nice sub-genre and I think paired with vocals or a quiet corner, it can make you feel like you're reaching heaven. I grew up listening to smooth jazz. I even remember the lil radio jingle for the smooth jazz station we'd listen to. Smooth Jazz has the sound of a really peaceful sunrise. The reason I denigrate it is because of how much people view it as True Jazz and either call it boring (what inspired this post) or call regular ass Jazz too noisy.

Tl;dr: it's perfectly fine to like smooth jazz it has its place but unfortunately it's viewed as a "more refined" jazz because it's (generally speaking) "simpler" in sound.
