“Is this a good time to talk?” Daphne asked Robin, approaching him in his office space while carrying her tablet and a slim portfolio folder underneath her arm. “I haven’t been a good enough mentor to you, and I’m hoping to make up for that starting... whenever you’re available. Now if that works, and later if it isn’t.” She had considered scheduling a time for this with Robin in advance, but it had made her stomach turn a little bit at the idea. No, best to try to just get this thing over with. Even if it stressed her the hell out.

Robin wasn't nosing, that's what she reasoned anyway. She was just.. being prepared. In case Eddie managed to get himself accused of murder and have to go into hiding again. Then she'd be better prepared to get him some supplies, she couldn't stand the look on his face last time. Especially when he'd had to run and they'd not been there.

Sure, they'd been busy tracking Vecna. But he'd still needed them. Jason could have done anything.

Oh God, what would it have been like to find him all beaten up, those doe eyes swollen...

Stop it. Even her thoughts ran away when she got nervous and wouldn't stop.

She moved an album aside and found the piece of paper folded up, trapped in the cover. It looked important. Something she probably shouldn't read.

So, of course, she did.

He was right.

They had betrayed him.

They'd left him down there.

They hadn't even thought about bringing him back.

She heard a noise behind her and tried to quickly fold the letter back up to push it back where it came from.
