My own lil hc for the replicators is that they can only hold a certain amount of recipes but you can have a separate device to download recipes on that you can plug into the replicator and it’ll work on all of them (like a usb thing)

Which is great if you have a ton of allergies, or you know that whichever replicator you’re gonna be around aren’t gonna have too many recipes for your species, or even just if you like having certain comfort recipes (like you know at some point you’re gonna crave salmon), or like a common dish in every replicator always has unsalted butter but you prefer salted butter or something like that, etc etc etc

But everyone always forgets they can do that, they’re like “aw man :( guess I just have to deal with what’s already pre-coded into the replicator :((“

your f/o just arrived home from work.

"y/n! I'm home!", they announced, as they put down their things. yet there was no answer.

"y/n? are you there?", they call again. strange, you were supposed to be home by this time, they thought.

"y/n..?"

yet again, they are only greeted by an unusual silence. where was their "welcome back!" that they loved to hear? something isn't adding up, they thought.

worried, they decide to go look for you around the house. they finally reach your shared bedroom, only to be greeted by the sight of a mushy lump under the bedsheets.

"y/n...", they say, now visibly more concerned

you had a long day. you're anxious. the feeling is eating you up, whether you know its origin or not.

you tried to get rid of it, but now you're just trying to escape it all by hiding under your bedsheets. nothing seemed to work.

or so you thought.

as soon as your f/o lied down next to you (with your approval), you felt a little bit better. they then held you close, slowly rubbing your back in a soothing manner.

"hey... you'll be ok...you're not alone. whatever you're going through, we'll get through it together"

perhaps now you're crying onto their chest as you hold them tight, fearing they might leave you all alone.

but that isn't going to happen. they don't love you any less for these unfortunate emotions. rest assured that your f/o will always be there for you whenever you need them.

i’m watching this old black and white western movie (or tv show, not sure which—i’m taking care of my grandma and it’s on tv) and the Woman (there is only one, as is typical for westerns) is terrified because her father is lost in a cave filled with “vampires”…i was like wow, a fantasy horror cowboy vampire picture?! seems quite ahead of it’s time for an old western, this is awesome.

turns out they’re talking about vampire bats. i’m pretty disappointed tbh. both because of the bat slander and because of the lack of vampires. major bummer!

#also there is One native american character (probably not played by an indigenous actor) and they will not listen to him even though #his tribe has lived there for centuries and understands the bats #but their understanding of the bats is taken as a sign of devilry etc. i hate old westerns tbh 🙄#even the best ones are awful in terms of race gender etc.#but my grandma has dementia and is comforted by them bc she’s seen them #and when she sings along to the songs it does make me tear up a little #she doesn’t always remember my name or where she is but she still remembers music and i think that’s lovely #sigh #life does get complicated doesn’t it #maybe i should write an essay

Asker came across as american, so i get it, but we're cultured here in europe, we discriminate both on skin colour and ethnicity (/j but in that "kernel of truth in every joke" sort of way) so i don't really think "european hcs" can be generalised like that and. Whatever, I won't try to censor myself for fear of being misunderstood, i don't think headcanoning a character as British and as idk Polish can be judged the same way. For one, because Slavs and eastern Europeans get discriminated against in western Europe (Britain, like, especially? They don't seem to like us much), for another because we. Don't have an abundance of characters to choose from regardless. Skin colour wise, yeah, majority of characters in media are white (a problem, anyway), but I've never been able to "see myself" in anglo charas, so it never meant much to me, not when characters I could see myself in only get used for mockery and villains.

#i could talk again about representation and how eastern euros get treated and how media pushes that view of us #as nothing but criminals and backwards savages still living in the 12th century but i don't want to #i've been angry about that enough and i don't wanna continue talking about something that will never be changed #but like. there's that childish part of me that still wants to see my culture presented as positive in media #so it's like gently holding my favourite characters and dressing them in my folk clothes and saying ''you're my brother''#is like a small tiny comfort to me. to say ''look he behaves like such an eastern european (but he contains multitudes and isn't just a #caricature) he's my little eastern european♡'' it's. idk what it is #it's just my little emotions

Also I brought Doll appearance disco horse to a friend that refuses to get a social media account (a wise choice)! His theory is that perhaps Doll was deliberately created TO be in the Hunter's Dream, with purpose of being turned alive helping Hunters already in mind. And?

She was given very warm, inviting appearance purposefully. All these hunters (majority are easily simple hetero dudes) would, in fact, return from all this blood and beasts and hostility to the most soothing solace there is - a pretty woman that speaks calmly with them. Dream should feel like a home for the most basic of bitches you know. And perhaps, intimidating appearance of hunter Maria would be a little counter-productive! After all Doll serves the HUNTERS, not Gehrman alone.

And to top that, he pointed out that 99.99% Maria herself approved or would have approved of being of such help even after her death (should it happen... It did oh well) as someone who cared for the patients (so had fair streak of altruism and caring in her). Because... there are more pressing and important things than "respecting masculine presentation" in a Victorian era or something.

And that's what he said! Quoting almost word to word but longer because I am too wordy hhhrf I think this is a really good potential take too! Very sensitive to core demographic of the hunters and historical period and context, while still keeping respectable nuance of the characters! Wanted to get the word here out for him.

on the topic of eskel.

whenever i get into a new fandom (or come back to old ones) i get that urge to just combine my favourites and see how they would vibe together SO

today i suggest to you eskel and kazuha.

i imagine they'd get along very well, they both seem to be chill, polite, a bit more reversed maybe, but caring and kind (while also having... let's say a wilder side)

they'd teach each other their fighting techniques, eskel would LOVE to just listen kazuha's poetry and music !! i think they'd like to just relax together, maybe just lying on the grass under the maple trees at night and telling each other stories, or just staying like that in comfortable silence

they'd fight monsters together, smoke whatever that they smoke in teyvat together, etc. i also think they'd appreciate each others communication styles a lot, you know?
