I've been in between book projects and freelance gigs the last couple weeks so I decided to explore an idea I had to reimagine the CandyLand (my favorite board game as a kid) characters in my own style. I started first to figure out a clear style with Princess Lolly and King Kandy, but here are some explorations of Lolly. I was playing with this idea that they could be characters in competitive fighting game so each of the characters have weapons and special attack abilities. Thought it would be fun to concept those out as well.

Something is wrong.

There's a weird noise coming from Chase's engine. His shoulders are scrunched to his audials and his finials are pinned back, his optics screwed shut.

But the weirdest part is no one seems to be paying him any mind.

Cody taps the side of Boulder's helm from where he's perched on their shoulder, pulling their attention away from Blades and Heatwave's ping pong game. "What's wrong with Chase?" he asks, pointing to the bot in question, who makes a weird cross between a squeak and a whine.

"Oh! Wait," Boulder claps their hands together as the game rises in ferocity behind them. "You guys have a word for it. He's- uh-"

Suddenly, Chase's plating flaps as air rushes out of all his vents, and his siren gives a WHOOP! on his back. Everything in a ten foot radius rustles with the force of it, and Chase drops his shoulders, clearly feeling some kind of relief.

It kind of looks like... "Sneezing?" Cody guesses.

"Yes, that was it!" Boulder claps their hands together. "That-"

"SCORE!" Heatwave shouts behind them.

"NO! THAT WAS OUT OF BOUNDS!" Blades shouts back. Heatwave grabs the ball from the floor and throws it at Blades, who lets it bounce off his forehead with wide optics. "BOULDER!" he suddenly yells, grabbing onto their arm. "It was my point! Tell him!"

"Quit hiding and tell me yourself!"

In the background, Chase's engines hiccup as he prepares for another sneeze.

Endlessly tickled by the idea of Akira being a good shot but a shit gamer. I like to think its cause hes got incredible hand eye coordination and super steady ‘surgeon’ hands; hes very good with precise movements, but panics when he has to do brain melting inputs. His brain can keep up but its hard to make his hands follow suit. Its why u can have him be dogshit at arcade cabinets; panicking with the little joystick and button mashing like mad, while having him be a beast at things like darts and billiards.

The only arcade games he can play is house of the dead-esque shooting games (hes literally at the top of the leaderboards for MILES and he draws crowds whenever he plays) and DDR cabinets (hes just very light on his feet)(NOT to be confused with stepmania; he would die if he had to do arrow inputs with his HAND). Its kinda fun to watch him fumble with the other silly gimmick cabinets, but its more entertaining to watch him do what hes good at. If u take him to play darts, and if the darts are super cheap, he will absolutely try his best to split them down the middle each time. Doesnt always work, but its insane to know that he lands the bullseye literally 100% of the time.

Why does everyone think Tin’s parents are abusive? Neglectful sure, but that was before his robin run. Doesnt his dad apologize and start treating him better?

He and Jack did have a recovering relationship and Tim was heartbroken when Jack died. his fans like to exaggerate his childhood because the others had such rough childhoods (and this is obvious in the way they talk about him. having other characters gasp and go “even I can’t imagine being neglected like that” your dad was a literal villain who ruined your and your mom’s lives. be serious). Tim’s life was…not difficult at All until he decided to be Robin at 13, and even then, he got written as “the better one” for long enough that he kind of just got lucky a lot

#I’m trying to think and besides the regular fighting and injuries #Tim’s life doesn’t get Bad until war games era. and then everything gets bad all at once #but at the same time is when dick’s life is getting bad for the 15th time so. point is that ppl try really hard to make it a competition #and one that tim wins. but it’s hard to without straight up lying to get a head start with a tragic childhood that doesn’t exist for Tim

Damn I just started playing your only move is hustle (hence forth referred to as yomi, hustle, or yomi: hustle) and god damn is it so much fun. My only problem at the moment is that I don’t know what the characters can do (leading to them breaking out of my combos) and that I don’t know how some mechanics work (the game says that my play is plus but they still break out of my combo anyway)

But my first ever game I absolutely steam rolled someone, I’ll upload the clip here but I don’t have access to my pc atm. It’s really fun!

If you are into tactical strategy games and want to get into fighting games but are too worried about the demanding inputs and quick thinking, yomi: hustle is for you! Every turn takes a whole 30 seconds! The only thing you need is a mouse! It’s only a fiver!

The songs showdown has shown me that I had a really biased belief of the popularity of ac songs. So many that totally shocked whenever I’d vote and it’s actually a close call, because how can anyone possibly think they’re equal?? It’s really interesting though, and a lot more surprising than the villager polls were!

I've said it before but that's exactly why I did double elimination because I had NO idea how popular some of these songs are. a recent one that shocked me was condor barely beating out technopop. technopop is a long time favourite of mine, but I had never given condor a second thought or even really seen anyone else say anything about it positive or negative

just thinking about the fact that a fully grown trans woman was removed from the platform for no reason (bad, obviously) & now all i see are transfem positivity & support posts in response (good, obviously)

meanwhile a nonbinary transmasc teenager was beaten to death at school, the school refused to call an ambulance and instead suspended them (again this is bad, obviously) & all i see in response is posts debating whether or not its possible for this to have been a suicide & the same singular post about their death that i have to go searching for because none of my mutuals will reblog anything about transmasc people.

like. am i actually crazy for seeing a problem with that? am i crazy for wanting to see posts condeming anti trans violence against ALL trans people? or wanting to see posts saying that transmascs deserve to be protected against this kind of violence?

am i really a big evil piece of shit for thinking that transmasculine people deserve to be recognized & protected when something fucked up and unfair happens to us?
