Soo I wanted to imput my own culture on this one!
COD Men + König Dating a Jamaican Women
Tumblr media
König
Tumblr media
• You and König had been together for quite a while. Spending most of your guys relationship in Europe and in his home country.
• But when you make to offer of having him meet your family he is more then happy to accept!
• He didn't expect to take a plane to the tropicals however- Ending up in such a touristy area at first. Till you lead him off the beaten bath to a much more rural area to introduce him to your family.
• They are a but surprised at first, seeing such a large man. However accept him with open arms- Your Mummy especially.
• You handed your mother her drink, watching her as she looked at the new member of the family who was seated playing cards with your cousin- The shorts She'd bought clearly being a size too small to fit him comforbly.
• It was like she got the son she wanted the most- Immediately having him change into more comforble clothes. Fed him, and forced you to walk him around the prettiest parts of town.
• "Why does it feel like my Mum likes you more then me!?"
• Konig could only laugh at this and shyly disagree.
• However after your Mum took him shopping since she felt like he didn't have the proper clothes he couldn't disagree further.
• He absolutely adores the beaches of your home and spends so much time swimming he gets a golden tan in a short amount of time.
Tumblr media
• "Gonna need to order some better shorts" You mumbled- not wanting him to have a wardrobe malfunction while around your family. Your mother laughing at this and patting your hip- "Wen yuh climb tall trees yuh get langggg branches-"
• "MUMMY!"
Gaz
Tumblr media
• You decided that it was time for Gaz to meet your family, wanting to take that extra step together.
• They are so excited to meet him they start chattering away immediately- However Gaz figures out very quickly...
• He is more then thrilled. Having wanted to take that next step with you for quite a while- So when the plan arrived at your home he was so happy to see your family there to meet you and him there.
• He doesn't know what the fuck they are saying-
• They had accidently assumed he knew Patwah and were corrected by you quickly. Since they assumed he was Jamaican like you-
• "Wait it's not just an accent?" Gaz asks softly to you, Which leads to you explaining that it's a Creole language called Patwah.
• Your Aunty however seemed to take the liking to Kyle the most. Seeing him as great husband potential for you- As well as dropping 'hints' about a wedding. Which was amusing since she had the thickest of accents out of your entire family.
• "Kyle lov, Wi wud waan (Y/N) married yah inna di yard. A nuh eh ah luk gud place tuh marry an av babies?" (Kyle Love, we would want married here at home. Isn't it a pretty place to marry and have babies? )
• Gaz didn't know what she said per say- But he did year the word Married and Babies.
• He does have a blast however, going out dancing with you, drinking with your family and having a grand time- But most was being fed near constantly.
• "Nyam up Maaga bwoy" (eat up skinny boy)
• Gaz was satted there in the kitchen of your family home, Staring as your Aunty adds another massive scoop of Rice and Peas to his growing plate. Filled delicious foods he could only dream of back home.
Tumblr media
• It seemed like there was no escape from this pleasurable hell- and he couldn't be happier
• Gaz nodded obediently as he took up more rice on his fork and continued to eat. You trying to tell your aunty to not force feed your boyfriend.
Soap
Tumblr media
• You bring up wanting Johnny to meet your family after officially meeting his- Seeing how it would be fair and should be a fun experience.
• Seems he found his people-
• Of course he is more then willing! Seeing it as a fun get away as well-
• When he arrives his naturally cheery personality wins over your family quickly. Ends up having a blast with them the first day and eats so much he almost gets suck.
• There is a mild language barrier- However it was overcome rather quickly.
• Your cousin seemed to absolutely ADORE Johnny. Taking the two of you out to clubs and different bars around the area.
• "We should buy a place out here- for times like this" He said, Leaning against you as the two of you walk back to your families house.
• Finds out quickly that it's relatively cheap in parts and having his nice military paychecks went a lloonnggg way here.
• Adsolutely loves the drinks. The Ginger beer, the Red Strike, Sorrel.
• Adores them honestly!
Tumblr media
• This man has met other half it seems as bottles seem to rain around him.
• "Yu Drunk?" Your cousin calls out to Johnny who is dancing against you with a bright smile on his face.
• "A'm Blootert!" He shouts. His accent so strong its funny-
• Johnny ends up so drunk, he's locked arms with your cousin, seated under the romada singing some imaginary song they had made up together.
Ghost
Tumblr media
• You take the opportunity to get your hair braided as well- seeing how for once you don't have to pay an arm and a leg for it.
• It takes a lot of convincing on your part to get Simon to come meet your family. You'd been dating more then long enough and he finally agrees one day-
• However he still wears some form of mask- in his case a skull face mask that is still breathable while keeping him covered.
• Your family was a bit apprehensive of Simon of first- surprised by such a brooding figure you'd dragged with you.
• That was till your father stepped forward and welcomed Simon with open arms. Which lead to the rest of the family also being warm and welcoming-
• Simon accepts this and goes along with the kind greetings from everyone.
• Simon tags along, which surprises you. Ends up asking the hair dresser questions constantly.
• "Wah mek yu deh ask suh much?" Your hairdresser staps a bit-
Tumblr media
• "I want to learn how- do I can help her do her hair or our future children's" He says bluntly and truthfully.
• Wins over the whole Salon just like that.
• He has never met a group so God damn stubborn then your family- He can refuse all he wants but ends up being given or dragged some place.
• Getting a step by step on how to do different braids by the nice women at the Salon who baby him- even buying him lunch too.
• The soilder taking the day with your father. The two just enjoying the day together- Simon even smoking with him a little which made him relax more then he expected (You weren't there to tell him-)
• Didn't want a drink- Now has 4 he has finished. Refused an addional plate of food?- He had 3 more and some fruit.
• The only person who wasn't pushy was your father. Who was as stoic and laid back as Simon.
• Simon enjoyed the relaxing time with your Father- The two sitting on the front patio with their drinks sipping away as they occasionally chatted.
• This day being the same, When Simon got up prepared to be dragged to a other fun active place. But instead your father waving him over to sit with him.
• Looking to you as you just nod for him to go do as he pleased-
Price
• By the time you came back, Both men were actually chuckling at some sort of joke together. That night you looking to Simon who laid in bed with you shocked-
• "My Dad actually likes you-" You say in disbelief. Simon only nodding and smiling at your words.
Tumblr media
• By the next morning he is as red as a Tomato and sunburned to high hell.
• John is willing to meet your family. Finding it would he a nice holiday and fun overall since he hadn't been to the Caribbeans since he was first in the military.
• When arriving he did notice some stares, since he was so clearly military and learned the distrust was real.
• But your family was open to him in extending that olive branch to him.
• Your uncle however- took some convincing. Which ended up getting John hazed of sorts.
• "Mek wi si wah yu gat Brit-" Your uncle Said with a grin. John of course accepting a challenge. From drinking, Dancing and more. Which ended up with the two shit talking each other-
• By the end of the night John and your Uncle were as thick as thieves.
• John even proud of the hand rolled cigarettes your uncle had given him.
• "Don't take his cigarettes-" You say calmly. Taking the homemade rolled cigarette from your boyfriend and handing him a packed one instead.
• While you were with some of your cousins catching up John sat out on a chair with your Uncles and cousins. The group smoking cigars and cigarettes and chatting away.
• Seemed time was lost on the both of you as John sat out in the sun far too long. Ignoring the reddening of his skin-
• Your poor Boyfriend tho-
• "Fuck-k" John mutters, wincing as he sits down with his arms held out. Your uncle laughing at him-
• You spend the evening rubbing Aloe in his skin and fanning his skin to help ease the burn.
• "Burned noice an criss Hm?" Your uncle said with a laugh making John give a fake glare at the old man.
• "Ah fuck ya you old geezer-" John winced out making the men around him laugh hard at his suffering.

1938 - PAULINE JOHNSON and FELICE BOUDREAUX, sisters, were once slaves on the plantation of Dermat Martine, near Opelousas, Louisiana. As their owners were French, they are more inclined to use a Creole patois than English.
"Us was both slaves on de old plantation close to Opelousas," Pauline began. As the elder of the two sisters she carried most of the conversation, although often referring to Felice before making positive statements.
"I was 12 year old when freedom come and Felice was 'bout six. Us belonged to Massa Dermat Martine and the missy's name Mimi. They raise us both in the house and they love us so they spoil us. I never will forget that. The little white chillen was younger than me, 'bout Felice's age. They sho' had pretty li'l curly black hair.
"Us didn't have hard time. Never even knowed hard time. That old massa, he what you call a good man.
"Us daddy was Renee and he work in the field. The old massa give him a mud and log house and a plot of ground for he own. The rain sho' never get in that log house, it so tight. The furniture was homemake, but my daddy make it good and stout.
"Us daddy he work de ground he own on Sunday and sold the things to buy us shoes to put on us feet and clothes. The white folks didn't give us clothes but they let him have all the money he made in his own plot to get them.
"Us mama name Marguerite and she a field hand, too, so us chillen growed up in the white folks house mostly. 'Fore Felice get big enough to leave I stay in the big house and take care of her.
"One day us papa fall sick in the bed, just 'fore freedom, and he kep' callin' for the priest. Old massa call the priest and just 'fore us papa die the priest marry him and my mama. 'fore dat they just married by the massa's word.
"Felice and me, us have two brothers what was born and die in slavery, and one sister still livin' in Bolivar now. Us three uncles, Bruno and Pophrey and Zaphrey, they goes to the war. Them three dies too young. The Yankees stole them and make them boys fight for them.
"I never done much work but wash the dishes. They wasn't poor people and they uses good dishes. The missy real particular 'bout us shinin' them dishes nice, and the silver spoons and knives, too.
"Them white people was good Christian people and they christen us both in the old brick Catholic church in Opelousas. They done torn it down now. Missy give me pretty dress to get christen in. My godmother, she Mileen Nesaseau, but I call her 'Miran'. My godfather called 'Paran.'
"On Sunday mornin' us fix our dress and hair and go up to the missy's looking-glass to see if us pretty enough go to church. Us goes to Mass every Sunday mornin' and church holiday, and when the cullud folks sick massa send for the priest same's for the white folks.
"We wears them things on the strings round the neck for the good of the heart. They's nutmeg.
"The plantation was a big, grand place and they have lots of orange trees. The slaves pick them oranges and pack then down on the barrel with la mosse (Spanish moss) to keep them. They was plenty pecans and figs, too.
"In slavery time most everybody round Opelousas talk Creole. That make the words hard to come sometime. Us both talk that better way than English.
"Durin' the war, it were a sight. Every mornin' Capt. Jenerette Bank and he men go a hoss-back drillin' in the pasture and then have drill on foot. A white lady take all us chillen to the drill ground every mornin'. Us take the lunch food in the basket and stay till they done drill out.
"I can sing for you the song they used to sing:
"O, de Yankee come to put de nigger free,
Says I, says I, pas bonne;
In eighteen-sixty-three,
De Yankee get out they gun and say,
Hurrah! Let's put on the ball.
"When war over none the slaves wants leave the plantation. My mama and us chillen stays on till old massa and missy dies, and then goes live on the old Repridim place for a time.
"Both us get marry in that Catholic church in Opelousas. As for me, it most too long ago to talk about. His name Alfred Johnson and he dead 12 years. Our youngest boy, John, go to the World War. Two my nephews die in that war and one nephew can't walk now from that war.
"Felice marry Joseph Boudreaux and when he die she come here to stay with me. There's more hard time now than in the old day for us, but I hope things get better.

Thinking about my spidersona:
Small angst; small suggested smut at the end; mostly fluff and comfort. TW: Mention of death, depression, healthy issues, and isolation.
Wish my computer could work so I could draw my Spidersona...😩
🕸 Spidersona, who was bitten by a funnel web spider (💀) and is still traumatized. She takes appointments with Spider-Therapist every Thursday. Spider-Cat helps her copes with stressful memories.
🕸 Spidersona, who's Caribbean and wears traditional superhero suit. Bright madras tissues wrapped around her head and hips and Creole earrings (hoop earrings).
🕸 Spidersona, who was the only Spider-Girl in Nouveau Fort in Martinique (don't look for it, I made it up, but it's based on Fort-de-France) until a certain Miguel "Fat Ass" O'Hara came to enroll her.
🕸 Spidersona, whose best person is clearly Pavitr because we support cultural representation, and obviously because he's the most adorable boy I've ever seen. ❤️ Besides, they usually chat about new clothes they like to embellish their suit and wardrobe.
They even have Indian nickname for each other : Pavitr is Munna (used for pretty and gentle boy), and Spidersona is Choti (used for girls and means small) based on this.
🕸 Spidersona, who loves dancing with Gwen late at night in her home. Spidersona shows Gwen how to move her butt like there's no tomorrow, and Gwen gives her tips to achieve a boneless split. There're also countless sleepovers and "Girls Talk" about boys, which is pretty much awkward at first, but they both like gossiping.
🕸 Spidersona, who has the fattest crush on Hobart "Hobie" Brown, 'cause let's be honest who wouldn't. Always avoiding him when he comes her way. Obviously, Hobie notices, and he thinks she doesn't like him or his style makes her feel uneasy.
🕸 Spidersona eventually confesses that she likes him :
"That's why you've been dodging me, luv?" Hobie rhetorically asks her, his full lips stretching into a genuine smile.
She feels her face heating up and her hands becoming sweaty. "Yeah, but I don't expect anything y'know. Just wanted to tell you..."
Hobie leans forward, and she presses her lips together, gazing down because she never noticed how interesting the ground could be. She feels his breath on her neck, and she shivers when his lips plant on her cheeks fondly.
"You're too cute, luv."
From that day, he's always close to her. His arm rests on her shoulders, and he's never too far when they're fighting anomalies. They both rely on each other when something goes wrong.
🕸 Spidersona, who curses in Creole when she's pissed.
"WHO STOLE MY SALTFISH ACCRA?! AY KOKÉ MANMAN ZOT! LAN DJET MANMAN ZOT! OU SÉ AN SAKRÉ TI ICH SALO-!"
"Wow! Wow! Okay, okay, we got it. That's enough bad words for today, luv." Hobie covers her lips and drags her out to cool down a bit.
Peter B. covers Mayday's ears, though he doesn't understand a thing he knows what she's saying isn't lovely.
🕸 Spidersona, who has arachnophobia, watches Penni petting her spider with disgust (don't get me wrong, her spider is adorable, but I don't want it near me). Miles makes fun of her and eventually chases her with random spider he finds around through the lobby.
🕸 Spidersona, who slips in Hobie's universe to spend some time together. She watches him play guitar on his bed and turns red when he hands her his instrument and sits behind her, his fingers brushing hers as he teaches her how to play.
🕸 Spidersona, who brings Martinican food to Mrs. Morales when she comes to visit Miles. Rio observes her chat with her son from afar along with Jefferson.
"She looks nice," Rio says after a while, still looking at them, "and she calls me 'Mrs. Morales." Her lips turning upward.
"Yeah, definitely Caribbean. Besides, I love these." Jefferson says, grabbing a slice of butter bread she made with her mom, accompanied by communion chocolate.
Spidersona and Miles look at their feet awkwardly, feeling Miles' parents' gaze on them.
"'M sorry 'bout my parents, they're... protective."
"Yeah, don't mention it. My mom does this, too."
🕸 Spidersona, who invites everyone one in her universe in Nouveau Fort. The tropical climate welcomes them fiercely, and everyone change to wear swimsuit. Peter B. applies sunscreen on Mayday and himself and lays down on a towel.
🕸 Hobie and Pavitr bury Miles in the sand, mermaid body in process as Spidersona and Gwen take Mayday to a swimming lesson, her Spider-Man rubber ring assisting her.
"Damn Gwen, you're red as hell." Spidersona hands her Peter's sunscreen, snorting.
"Ha. Ha. Very funny."
...
🕸 After 3 weeks and still no news from her, Hobie and Pavitr head to her universe. When they slip into her bedroom through the window, they find her in her bed, barely breathing. Pavitr rushes to her, worry in his eyes as he brushes her now sunken cheeks. She hardly opens her eyes, dried tears staining her face.
🕸 Hobie takes her face in his hand, caressing her cheekbones slowly before kneeling to be face level with her. He takes her blanket off her, and it pains them to see how much weight she lost. They can clearly see her ribcage under her skin.
As they discuss what to do, they hear her mother's voice in the living room. She sounds exhausted, her voice quavering.
"I don't know what to do, mom. She hasn't eat anything in days and she keeps losing weight. The doctor said we should bring her to the hospital because of her iron deficiency and underweight. Otherwise, her anemia might come back and-" her voice cracks, as she can't handle her overwhelming emotions. The phone slips from her grasp as she falls on her knees.
🕸 Hobie grabs her without hesitation and opens a portal, quickly followed by Pavitr. He mumbles apologies when she groans pain. When they arrive, Hobie pushes open the medical department's door with his foot. Spider Meds are quick to take care of her, using advanced medical tech.
🕸 Spidersona, who wakes up after 2 weeks, looking less of a momified monk. She sees a red-haired baby lying down on her belly. She recognizes Mayday, and Peter B. reaches out, his hand caressing her head.
"We missed you." He says genuinely, worry fading away and replaced by a look parents would give to their child after they injured themselves.
🕸 Spidersona, who just cries. Her pain and grief pouring out of her chest and she can't help it. Peter B. hugs her tightly, kissing her forehead.
🕸 Miles appears and stands still when he views the scene, his brain analyzing everything. He comes close, taking her hand in his, squeezing it kindly. When Peter lets go of you, Miles replaces him.
🕸 Spidersona, who after she calmed down, thanks them and asks where the others are, only to find out that they are on a mission.
🕸 Spidersona, who is surprised to see Spider-Man Noir paying her a visit, flower is his hands.
"Everyone's been worried about you." Miles explains, her hands still in his. "When Hobie and Pav came back with you almost dead, we freaked out."
"Jessica even talk to your mother so she wouldn't pass out when she found out you disappeared." Adds Spider-Man Noir.
She is grateful but also a bit ashamed she worried everyone.
"So... what happened?" Peter B. asks cautiously.
She looks up to him and tries to suppress the tears, creating in the corner of her eyes.
🕸 Spidersona, who wasn't fast enough to save her uncle Henry and faced the reality of the world.
Though everybody can relate, Miles feels like he knows exactly what she feels. He remembers when he found out that Uncle Aaron was the Prowler, the look in his eyes when he discovered Miles was Spider-Man. His hand slipping from his as he exhaled his last breath.
🕸 Spidersona, who spends her day with Miles since Peter went home to put Mayday in bed. She eats empanadas Miles brought for her.
"My mom made them for you. When I told her you were hospitalized, she wouldn't stop asking about you. Besides, since we didn't know when you would wake up, she made some every day." Miles scratches the back of his head; cheeks and ears red. He knew his mom liked you, maybe too much for his liking.
"Well, please, thanks her for me. This is delicious. My taste buds are dancing hard right now." She giggles, making Miles smile.
🕸 Spidersona, who eventually encounters Jessica and Miguel. She thanks the pregnant woman, hugging her slightly, knowing she's not a big fan. To her surprise, she rubs her back and smiles.
🕸 Spidersona, who turns to Miguel reluctantly and apologizes for being off without warning. He brushes her off, as usual, talking about how it was her canon event. Gee thanks.
🕸 Spidersona, who hears familiar voices. She turns around, and there they are : Gwen, Hobie and Pavitr. She launches herself on them, arms fully extended. Pav sees her first and rushes toward her. They both collide, their hands grasping any pieces of clothes, hugging like the world would disappear.
"I missed you so much, Choti." Pav cries, his hands hold her tightly. "You almost gave a heart attack. Don't do this ever again, please. I love you."
And she cries again, hearing her best friend voice trembling.
"I'm so sorry, Munna. I promise. I love you so much, too."
Gwen joins in, her lips quivering, and they open their arms for her to come.
🕸 Spidersona, who wipes her face after a while, then proceeds to notice Hobie, who stayed back. Pav hugs her one last time, then leaves with Gwen. She approaches Hobie, not sure why she feels so nervous all of a sudden.
🕸 Spidersona, who follows Hobie to his universe, their pinky intertwined. When they are both alone in his room, he smashes his lips against hers.
🕸 Spidersona, who feels like a tsunami washed over her: emotions and feelings blending in her core. It's slow at first but quickly bursts into a wildfire when she feels his body against her. It feels strange, and she's a bit insecure, but Hobie reassures her. It's overwhelming.
"Are you okay, luv?" He asks, his voice barely above a whisper, like she'll shatter if he's too loud.
"Yeah. I am."
🕸 Spidersona, who slowly moves on, enjoys her life with those who remain and never forgets those who left.

She/Her
48 - Female - Mother of 1 - Work Full Time - Published Short Stories
I am a female writer on the Gulf Coast of the United States, currently residing in the state of Mississippi near the amazing city of New Orleans. I have lived in both Louisiana and Mississippi and the culture of the bayou areas runs through my blood. I have one adult son, who is the light of my life, and a cat who thinks she is the goddess of it. The stories that are currently being published to Tumbler are the continuation of roleplays and solo writing that I have been writing for over 20 years; and that I decided to continue sharing with everyone. Some characters have intricate and elaborate backstories which I will unfold for you. Some are new and you will learn about as they reveal themselves to me. I hope you all enjoy.
Some call me a free spirit, I call me...me. It took me years to become comfortable in who I am, so I judge no one else. We all have our own journeys. I am here to support everyone else on theirs, so maybe they won't have to take as long to be able to love themselves. I prefer not to talk much about my disabilities because I don't want them to define me, but am also open about them when asked or to help others come to terms with their own.
I love purple and sparkles, and I'll probably die petting something I shouldn't. Being as I live on the Gulf Coast, I might also be eaten by it, and that is fine. Life is a circle and we're all part of it.
Feel free to visit my inbox and ask box. I promise I do not bite unless asked.

THE ANDROMEDA EFFECT
@the-andromeda-effect - In Greek Mythology Andromeda was sacrificed by her parents to save their kingdom from Poseidon's wrath after her mother offended him, but Perseus saves her from death by a Krackon and takes her to his kingdom to be his Queen. Mircea (Meer-cha) Kalavati wasn't sacrificing his wife to appease a god, or bring peace to his clan, he was doing it to start a war with another. His mistake when he hired Caliban Andros was lying to him about why he wanted her rescued, then killed to look like those who had kidnapped her had done it. Never lie to your hitman. Now, like Perseus to Andromeda, Caliban has rescued Riona Kalavati and something is drawing him to the woman. He will kill to keep her safe, and her husband is going to regret that lie for what remaining life he has left. Now as Adira Andros, she is definitely Caliban's Queen, and his "army" has rallied around her.
BATTLEGROUND OF DREAMS
@battlegroundofdreams
BAYOU WITCHES
@bayouwitches (Heaven & Arthur Shelby belong to @call-sign-shark)
BEHIND THESE MASKS
@behindthesemasks - Melania LaVeau is a professor at LSU in Baton Rouge. She is also the grandaughter of Ambrose Meyers, one of the most powerful men in the country and the daughter of Marie LaVeau...yes THAT Marie LaVeau! Old money, going back to when the Gautier family came over from France to settle in New Orelans, there isn't much that goes on in Louisiana or Mississippi that they don't have their hands in. Meyers Worldwide, a tech conglomerate is a cover for underworld activities that will eventually come to light. What happens when someone decides to cross the most powerful, and immortal, Queen of Voodo and threaten one of her children? Will New Orleans be left standing? If you are a fan of Indiana Jones, Tomb Raider, or The LIbrarians, the story is in the same veign. All of the characters are human, but there are supernatural occurrences around them
BENDING THE LAW
@bendingthelaws - Colin Masterson is the Cook Count State's Attorney. He has been on a mission to take down the head of a Chicago crime conglomerate that is headed by Constantin Rakeovich. Now someone has kidnapped his intern and is sending her back to him in tiny pieces. Is it Constantin? Is it another one of the people that Colin has crossed? Now he and those he trusts are going to have to figure it out before someone else disappears or is hurt. Complicating matters is that his brother, Colton Masterson is Constantin's defense attorney. The brothers have never been close, but in this situation, things take a much darker turn. Will Colton stand by his brother or his client? And what happens when something bigger happens and puts everyone Colin cares about in the crosshairs? If you are a fan of Law & Order, or any of those types of shows, this is much in the same vein and will involve more than just the lawyers. All characters are human. There is no supernatural beings or magic. Some places are going to be fictional, but the main setting is the city of Chicago.
DEVIL IN THE DETAILS
@devil-in-the-details-ay - When Lucifer's daughter Yara gets bored and wants to intern for the Lord of Death, Astaroth, her father agrees. After their first meeting, the Devil changes the plans once more. Deciding to make Yara someone else's problem, she is now to be Astaroth's wife. Navigating this challenge, and those who will come against them both will reveal a lot about each other, and themselves. Is the Princess really as spoiled and entitled as she seems? Is Astaroth really the iceberg incarnate that he seems? Is she even who she believes herself to be? And what happens when someone decides to try to interfere in their relationship?
MAGICAL MISTAKES
@magical-mistakes-vm - Vollrath, the Master Warlock of the local Coven, encounters Mahala (Mah-HAY-lah) preparing to do a ritual on his land. Her mistakes in not being careful in preparations allowed him to find her, but it also set up events in the future that they will need the help of his best friends Baldur and Elmar to deal with. A witch that has no clue what she is and a Master Warlock who is not used to letting people close have to navigate revelations that will change both their lives, and possibly even the Coven. When his brother, Balor, an equally powerful warlock within the Coven who he has been at odds with for years, also shows up and it is clear will be needed, it just adds one more complexity to the situation. Can they all get along to keep each other safe, or will one of them fall to those who are coming against them?
MYSTS OF TIME
@mystsoftime
NIGHTMARE MAGIC

@princess-of-thieves-id - Princess Inara is set to marry Prince Diyan the next day, a man she has never met or even set eyes on. Ever defiant, that is the last thing she is going to do. Deciding to thwart her father's plans, the Princess slips out of the castle and sets to escape. Little does she know that the Prince's family sent Arik, the Prince's best friend and a trained assassin, to watch over her, fearing more that she would be murdered by enemies rather than escape. One thing that Arik knows is that Diyan doesn't want to marry Inara either, so instead of stopping her, he helps her with a promise to keep her safe if she stays with him. They make it to the next town, which is a port and aboard a vessel that is just preparing to depart in an effort to stay one step ahead of the soldiers now searching for Inara. Unbeknownst them, they have just become stow-aways on a pirate ship. Complicating things further is that Arik and the Captain of the ship are not strangers, and when a romance develops between Inara and Arik and the Captain deciding he would like her for his own, things become even more complicated. Not to mention all three of them are being hunted by multiple kingdoms. Nothing like a quiet day on the sea, right?

Tapperhet
@tapperhet-em - When Princess Meeri's father is deposed by his brother, he believes she was part of the coup, and disowns her as his family flees the country. Lucky for her, she is found by one of the knights she befriended in childhood and is still loyal to her, Einar, before her uncle did. A members of nobility, he and three of his friends spirit her off into hiding where they can plan to figure out who set her up, help her rebuild a life apart from royalty, and decide how to bring about justice. Can the seeming unrequited love of Einar for Meeri turn into more? Or will one of his brothers in arms, cut him off from that possibility? And how close was/is the traitor to Meeri? Sometimes safe isn't as safe as you think...and destiny, it's more than just a lofty ideal. She is a bitch sometimes, and she will find you.

Other Information~
The "Yuu" for Ignihyde's chapter.
Also a part of the "not having it" club. Like, they wouldn't have any issues except that Night Raven College is NOT accessible. "Crowley, how do you expect me to get to class with the 20 different staircases?" So now her wheelchair is enchanted to float; they do use this to their advantage. Gets along best with Ruggie, but somehow befriended Vil and Sebek.
She lived with her mother and stepmom in El Paso, Texas. During winter breaks she would visit her dad in San Diego, California. She learned Haitian Creole from her grandfather before he passed. They miss watching the Spanish soap operas with her moms so they join the Film Studies club to fill in that gap. It's not the same, but it helps.
Rayen would have been sorted into Diasomnia, they don't see themself as noble, but apparently, the mirror does. She and Sebek bicker constantly, and everyone thinks that they hate each other, but Lilia knows that it's all in good fun... at least on Rayen's part. Sebek doesn't understand how he came to befriend Rayen, but now he can't get rid of her.
They hate it when people don't pick up after themselves, mainly due to accessibility reasons. Usually, she uses her wheelchair but can use crutches for short distances. Ramshackle is honestly their worst nightmare, but the professors banded together to make it accessible for her. The entire student body nearly had a French revolution with Crowley for that.
They tend to wear more form-fitting clothes so that they don't get caught up in the wheels of her wheelchair. Really likes bright colours and neons, but also loves their black hoodie. Wears colourful box braids, which fall down to the middle of their back; she does a bunch of fun styles with them. Has custom wheel covers with fun designs, and allows her friends to put stickers on them. Speaks Haitian Creole with Sam.
During art class, they sculpted a frog in a suit. The glaze she was using had magical properties and brought the frog to life, so now they have a magical clay frog butler. Crewel is her favourite teacher, as he campaigned to build some elevators around campus. Rayen purposefully runs over Crowley's feet whenever he's near.

Q&A Questions.
Can Whites, Asian, indians etc. Can they practice African spirituality. YES.
Why? To tell a white person they can't practice any form of African religions is telling me I can't be apart of it ether. I'm a original Louisiana creole and I'm mixed. People are born in the world today or all mixed with something, all of us there are black Asians, white Haitians, white Africans etc. Okay.
So when we pray to our ansestors we pray to all of our ansestors all of them, okay not just the African ones, if you take a way your European ancestors, Spanish, Irish, Scottish etc, then you would not be the person you are today with out them you would not exist, you have to pray to all of them.
Now that don't mean you have to give the good offerings especially the old races ansestors NO. Give them the old molded beans, molded fruit etc. If you are stuck in hate them that how you'll be after death but you still have to serve them because it might be one of them who come to help and not the black ansestors . So if you are like that then your going against what Africa is about oy one race human because all life was founded in African.
Now that don't mean you have to give the good offerings especially the old races ansestors NO. Give them old molded beans, molded fruit etc. If you are stuck in hate the will be like that after death but you still have to serve them because it might be one of them who come to help and not the black ansestors . So if you are like that then your going against what Africa is about is one race. Humans... Not skin color. Spirituality is universal.
Can You Help Get An Ex Back? NO. There are many that goes to a houngan, a babalawo, Santero, Rootworkers etc and asking them for help to bring back an ex boyfriend or ex girlfriend or partner. Crying so to speak giving them money and feeling like it has been taken and nothing happens.
Answer. I'm going to speak the truth, no African traditions have the power to go against GOD. Okay. We have free will. God is not giving one person the power to take away another persons free will to be controlled by another. And it's sad because it's one of the biggest scams in the community. If they dont come back to you it's because you weren't ment for each other, if you bought a spell to get a person out of jail and that person went it was Gods is teaching them that lesson.
But if you're looking for love or need help with money or health; then someone like me could help.
How To Dispose Of Offerings? In Louisiana Voodoo or Root Work we put them outside. If you have let's say an offering that is coffee use that coffee or grounds in your garden, it helps to grow plants. Fruit or beans anything with seeds throw them in the yard or woods if you live near by and see if it grows. Because in voodoo we use that food to feed the community.
Hope all this helps.

Food Is Family
I’ve been studying Haitian Creole for more than a year, and with some patience on the part of listeners, I can have a conversation.
But learning a new language isn’t something to be done on its own. To understand the language you must also learn the culture that created it and the people who are its creators. And learning that culture means learning history and social dynamics and all that goes with creating an identity.
Among these are the foods and dishes that the people of that culture have created as a way to not only feed themselves but to also express themselves. Before the advent of refrigerated trucks and ships food was prepared from local goods, and so many foods we might think of as exotic or unusual are just what people did with the foods that their grew, captured, or traded for with others.
In learning about Haiti, you must learn of Haitian foods, which are varied, typically including local foodstuffs, and influenced by the incredible mix of peoples and cultures that have been a part of making this island nation what it is. Eating Haitian food is an experience—you might not always like it because it tastes “foreign” to you, but generally, you’ll find it well-prepared and popular, and typically available throughout a region.
One of the foods I particularly have grown to like is Haitian Pikliz, which in its crudest sense is pickled cabbage. But it’s unlike what I might have expected as someone who likes cabbage in many forms—fried with pork, shredded in cole slaw, wrapped around a serving of meat and rice, or just as an ingredient of East Asian food.
I had it first in a Haitian restaurant (Zeke’s) near Atlanta, Georgia, and I was immediately in love with the taste, the texture, and the mix of heat with sourness and sweetness. I had two servings of it because it was so good, and it became something I had to figure out how to make for myself. Which I have now done so.
And let me tell you, you just cannot get into Haitian culture if you don’t at least try a bite of pikliz. It’s colorful and flavorful with a kick of spice, and to me, it epitomizes the liveliness not just of Haitian cuisine but of Haitian culture. It’s something you have when you’re with family, when you’re out for a meal in a Haitian restaurant, when you want a low-calorie no fat snack that’s packed with vitamins and pre-biotics. This is a family dish, and eating this is part of being with family.
As for preparation, it’s not truly pickled as you might think of pickled vegetables. The ingredients are not cooked and are not stored for a lengthy period. Typically it’s prepared for use close to the day of serving, but it’s not left long enough to truly ferment, and it’s nothing like sauerkraut.
Instead, it’s mostly thinly sliced vegetables with certain spices left in a brine of vinegar and citrus juice with enough salt for taste long enough for the vegetables to be ever-so-slightly transformed and melded into a flavorful, spicy dish that goes great with fried foods such as griyo or peze.
I’ve made it now, twice, and in making it I’ve made it my own. Like most recipes for national foods, there is no one single recipe, and no one will make it exactly the same.
But there are certain ingredients that seem to be standards, and I’ve used most of them, eliminating some due to lack of access, difficulty of preparation, or a dislike of the actual taste or experience of eating it.
Here is the recipe I started from, loosely based upon the one I found in The New York Times. I think the proportions for the main ingredients are not exact, so don’t fuss too much. The only thing I’d keep an eye on are the use of the Scotch bonnet peppers because the amount of heat they bring to the pikliz can be overwhelming if you’re not prepared for it. But when you hit the right amount/proportion, they add that necessary touch of heat that contrasts so well with the foods that you serve it with.
RECIPE FOR HAITIAN PIKLIZ
Ingredients:
1 green cabbage.
1 large onion
2 bell peppers, in contrasting colors. I typically use green and red.
2-6 garlic cloves. I tend to really like garlic, so I lean towards the high number.
2-4 scallions / green onions
2 large carrots
4-6 Scotch bonnets or habanero chiles
6 black peppercorns *
4 whole cloves *
1-2 springs fresh thyme *
2 limes
Handful of salt **
White vinegar
(Items marked with a single “*” are optional. I added all three for my first batch, but it didn’t match the flavor of the pikliz I had in the restaurant, so for my subsequent batches I left it out. Plus, they look like little black or brown “nubs” in the mix, and biting into one is not, in my opinion, pleasant. Salt (**) is also optional, but I found it necessary to push the flavor up.) Note that there is no oil or sugar added.
Substitutions:
You can substitute cider vinegar, but I prefer the neutral taste of white vinegar. If you don’t have limes, you could use fresh lemon juice, but to me it changes the flavor profile quite a bit – the sweetness of the lime juice helps to bring out the sweetness of the carrots as they meld together in the marinade.
Scotch bonnets are preferred over habaneros for the authentic flavor, but the tastes are similar. Be warned that Scotch bonnets are far hotter than habaneros. You really do need the kick of the extra spicy chiles, though. Jalapenos and the like just don’t give it the right taste.
Be judicious with the number of chiles that you use. The first time that I made this I doubled the amount of Scotch bonnets, and although I like spicy food, it was way way hotter than I expected, so hot that my lips were numbed and my tongue buzzed with the overstimulation. Capsaicin is used for the treatment of joint aches caused by diseases such as rheumatism and arthritis because it overstimulates nerve endings so that they stop transmitting pain signals. And I think that over-inclusion of capsaicin just about thrashed my poor taste buds – but I ate every bit of that first batch!
Some recipes use chicken boullion (“Maggi”), which seems to be a common ingredient in Haitian cooking. I didn’t have it prepared that way when I had it, so I prefer it without using that.
Preparation:
Note: Before handling spicy peppers such as Scotch bonnet peppers or habaneros, wear disposable gloves and wear eye protection.
Wash the cabbage, carrots, scallions, chiles, bell peppers. Peel the onion and the carrots. Remove the skins from the garlic cloves.
Cut the cabbage into quarters. Remove the thick stem from each quarter. Cut the carrots into 2-3" long sections. Open the chiles and remove the stems. Deseed only if you want less spicy results. Open the bell peppers, deseed, and remove the white sections.
Using either a chef’s knife or a mandolin slicer, slice the cabbage into strips about 1/4-1/8th inch wide. Do the same with the onion and the bell peppers. Chop the scallions into thin “rounds”. Julienne the carrots. If you do not have a julienne attachment to your mandolin slicer, slice them as thinly as possible. Finely slice the chiles. Finely dice the garlic, or use a garlic press to make sure that the garlic releases as much flavor as possible. Roll and press the two limes to get as much juice as possible, then halve and juice them.
Put all the sliced/chopped ingredients into a non-reactive bowl. (The capsaicin of the chiles can stain plastic bowls or infuse the plastic with the capsaicin oil, and it’s very difficult to remove that, which means that bowl will flavor other foods you make in it.) Add the salt, thyme, peppercorns, and salt. Pour the lime juice over everything.
Mix thoroughly in the bowl, then cover and let it set in the refrigerator for a while. I leave mine for about 30 minutes so that the salt and juices can begin working.
After letting it set, put all the ingredients into glass jars or stain-proof containers (so they don’t pick up the capsaicin), and pack firmly. You want to leave about a half-inch or so at the top of the container.
Cover the ingredients with enough white vinegar so that none of the ingredients are exposed to air.
Close the lid of the containers or jars and put them into your refrigerator.
While it could be served right away or even the next day, it reaches the start of peak flavor and texture after three days. (I’ll bet you can’t wait that long, but try.)
Preparation notes:
I can’t stress enough that you should use gloves and eye protection when working with chiles. The first time that I made this I didn’t pay attention, and although I never touched my eyes, it proved impossible to get all the capsaicin oil off my hands, and that meant that the tiniest crack in my skin became a point of fire. It took three days before my hands stopped feeling as if they were being pricked with hot needles.
The pikliz I get in restaurants is sliced about 1/4" thick. I use a mandolin slicer because I don’t have good control over knives anymore. The result is a much thinner slice, sometimes 1/16" thick, which causes the pikliz to marinate and transform more quickly, and I much prefer it. But “true” pikliz is going to have thicker slices. Do what works for you, and don’t apologize!
Serving:
A serving size is about a half-cup for a plate. Use tongs or a fork to pull the pikliz from the jar or container. ALWAYS use clean tongs or forks when you dip into the pikliz because it has no preservatives, and you don’t want to contaminate it with stuff. The longer it’s in the marinade, the more the ingredients will absorb the flavors and the more the ingredients will soften. The marinade juice will start to look orange-y because the carrots are releasing their carotenoids.
Serve with fried pork (griyo), beef (tasso), eggs (it’s really good with bacon and eggs!), shrimp, white fish, fried plantains (peze), or other vegetables. Put on a pork or chicken sandwich. Add it as a side to a barbecue plate. It’s crunchy and spicy and flavorful, so anything where you might want a bright note of color, add it to the meal.

Loosenin’ Up at the Kitchen
A/N: just a ficlet of Sam cookin’ things up, guest starring Sarah Wilson! a domestic tale for @samtember2022. :3
Word Count: 935
TW: food
Prompt: Day 25 - Cooking
***
Humming to 'Heard It Through the Grapevine', he removed boiled shrimp shells from a pot. He poured it on a strainer as steam slightly fogged the sink. He tossed eight tablespoons of unsalted butter into a bowl. He added chopped and minced vegetables along with it too. He stirred them with a ladle, watching them melt. He belted out to the chorus, holding another spoon as a microphone.
After two weeks of missions, Sam opted to visit Sarah, A.J, and Cass for a while. He had been rather homesick for local Louisiana dishes. He had eaten decent food, sure, except he kept missing a bowl of Jambalaya. Or a po'boy.
The first thing he did since he had entered the house was to cook. He had enough skills to do it, so he picked Crawfish Étouffée. He had been at it for an hour, gathering the ingredients and equipment. He sauté the vegetables, adding creole seasoning. It added an extra pinch of color, sizzling with tiny bubbles surrounding it.
For those weeks out of Delacroix, he had been dreaming about food. Probably because he had only eaten sandwiches for most of his meals.
Not tonight, though. He would eat like royalty and savor it.
Sam removed the pot from the stove, pouring them into a bowl. He put a small amount of duck fat and flour into it, stirring them with a whisk.
"You know if you wanted to bring the house down, you could have said so. Metaphorically speaking, of course."
At that wry voice, Sam froze and clutched onto the whisk.
"Geez," Sam muttered, turning to look at Sarah standing near the archway. "Can't you give a person some privacy? I'm tryin' to cook over here. And that attitude's not helpin'."
When Sarah burst out with a laugh, he shook his head. He poured the vegetables back into the bowl.
"Cooking? For real?" Sarah asked, barely hiding her disbelief.
He scrunched his face. "Why? Is it that much of a shock?"
"Well, I'm surprised because you seemed so busy lately," Sarah explained, gesturing at him with a hand. "However, I guess I can't say no to an extra set of hands."
"Relax, I got this," he sing-songed, adding bay leaves into the bowl. "I'm being careful with the seasonings and stuff."
"Oh, you better. Still, thanks for helping me out."
"No problem. I'm always up for a rescue."
Sarah snorted, smiling.
"I know, you big goof."
Leaving the sauce and vegetables to simmer, he opened a cabinet to get another bowl. For pasta. He filled it up with water then opened a packet of Fettuccini noodles, sliding them in it. Sarah leaned against the doorway, fixing her eyes on the stove.
At times, Sam wondered how did he get so lucky to have Sarah as his sister. Because she often had common sense and stubbornness in spades. Those two qualities alone could be a dangerous combination to have instilled on a sibling. However, he found himself far more grateful than irritated for that.
Good thing, they had each other and he could count on her. And he often tried helping her out whenever he could. Even if she wouldn't admit it, he would be there to offer to do any errands. He knew she had pride to ask for help, constantly insisting on doing stuff on her own. Like him, she barely didn't have much time for herself either.
However, if he could help her out with the little things -household chores and all that, he considered it as great work. That way, she could take a break from her responsibilities too. He was more than willing to be the sibling she deserved.
It had been too long since they had quaint days like this. Days not involving missions or issues. Days, where they both could enjoy it while they could.
"There's the Sam Wilson I know," Sarah murmured, leaning back against the counter. "It's been a bit way too long since. . . since I saw you like this."
Sam raised his brows. "Huh? Like what?"
"Laidback and without much weight around his shoulders." Sarah's mouth quirked in a small smile. "I missed it when you aren't. . . tensed."
To think of it, he hadn't been tense since he began preparing this Crawfish Étouffée. He probably had been too focused on this to notice.
"Thank you," he replied with a grin. His shoulders loosened. "It's good to be around at home all day for a change."
"Yeah, I'm glad for that. And ahh, that crawfish sauce smells good from here."
"Yup, see? I'm putting the effort here instead of winging it."
"Once you're finished, we'll eat it for dinner? I'm sure the boys would love to have a meal cooked by Uncle Sam."
"When I'm done, I'll call you and the boys. So, wanna tell me what's up at the docks?"
"Hey, finish that 'Crawfish Étouffée' and then we'll get talking."
"You want me to get down to business already? After that moment we shared? How cold."
Sarah chuckled, lowering her head.
"Nope. Just being a sister, who's gotta remind you to keep your head in the game."
"Ah, I see. You're here to take advantage of my cooking."
"Less talking and more stirring, Samuel."
"You got it, Sar."
When Sarah walked to the door with another chuckle, she waved at him and he snorted. Still, he moved a ladle around the pot as the sauce simmered. He inhaled it, smelling it's zesty and creamy flavor. He hummed in approval, checking on the boiling pasta. This had signs of a star chef in the making.

Ah, I heard that High Table is being replaced and that John is heading off the change, fuck yeah, man. Just to make it easier on people, figured I’d say a little about myself
My name is Georgia, Georgiana, or Gigi, either of the three works. Some call me “Alice” in reference to “Alice and Wonderland”, some further have called me “John’s Alice” or “Alice Wick”, because some have claimed mine and John’s relationship has mimicked aspects of Alice and the Mad Hatter. I personally am not sure if that’s accurate, but to each his own. I currently reside near the Atchafalaya in Louisiana, but was raised in New York and parts of Arkansas and Tennessee.
Winston Scott is my legal caretaker and only remaining blood relative, to my knowledge. I call Charon “Mama” because he is the closest thing to a mother I can ever remember having. Kinda gave both of them a heart attack, and then John, when I decided to sneak into the Navy in hopes of following John into his service in the Marines. Good news is, got high marksmanship scores and became a corpsman and ended up in John’s squad later on. Bad news, am now physically disabled and require a cane and a rolly chair/stool when working the New York Continental’s bar. Got nerve damage from chemical exposure and got discharged a little after John did.
Vincent and I, well, we haven’t tried to murder each other but are…I don’t quite know what to call our situation. We put up with each other, sometimes enjoyably, but I can’t tell if he puts up with me to have someone to gossip about or if he considers me similarly as Chidi, who I am admittedly fond of. He is a BIG dude, though the Chilean has his soft moments. The Parisian and the Chilean DO both give wonderful hugs, do with that what you will.
My current occupations are: mixologist, alcohol brewer and liquor distiller, swamp witch, Hallowed Lodge Owner
//ooc under the cut
Hey, so I made this character because I wanted to make another attempt at a non-Pokemon related sideblog. Part of her backstory is really more a combination of “she got lucky” plus good instincts and Winston pulling some strings for her.
Quick rules: no nsfw, but suggestive is fine. Doesn’t speak “proper French” but occasionally throws in some Cajun/Creole French or random Spanish when she genuinely can’t think of the insult or descriptor in English. Has definitely referred to Vincent as a “Parisian Couyan” behind his back once or twice.
She’s also based on a personal fanfic I created and ended up deleting. I haven’t decided her entire vibe with Vincent and Chidi, maybe being the annoying puppy friend that they keep around because her family has connections but any Vincent or Chidi rp on here can decide further about if they actually like Georgia or not, but basically, if you’re a John Wick rp blog, she will likely be very much an “Alice”-like character. My recent exposure to the story is Tim Burton, but I remember the disney and shortened versions of the story well enough to have some wiggle room.
Description: 5’7”, 210lbs, dark blonde hair with dyed streaks of red and sometimes shaves part of her head and dyes it. Eyes are brown, often does unnatural makeup to look almost fae-like, mildly or otherwise. Oh, and she randomly offers people food

Miami, Yes ma'am
The tail end of my flight training I was fortunate enough to get the hell out of Greensboro, NC, where the majority of my ground training took place. The highlight of this first part was the North Carolina Foral Convention across the street at the Embassy Suites, where my roommate came back with arms fulls of bouquets one day.
Tumblr media
MIAMI though... I've popped through once before when I worked the world series baseball games. But, this time I got explore a bit more of the Wynwood and Miami Beach neighborhoods.
First off, why are we in Miami? Pan Am Flight Academy headquarters is located near MIA and they host a handful of airline companies to their training facility for ground coursework and in-flight simulations for pilots. There's one portion of the original building foundation left, that will soon be turned into a museum of sorts.
Tumblr media
Miami itself is expansive. It has a pulse. The downtown skyline goes on forever. It's warm all year, of course. I was here in March and even then it was scalding hot in the sun. August in Miami is another type of hedonistic amalgamation of colorful architecture, gorgeous beaches, warm waves, and delicious Caribbean food.
Speaking of Caribbean, I dabbled in Cuban cuisine at a local diner near our hotel. We were walking to the gas station for something and could see the storm looming ahead of us (or behind us?) and figured we may have to duck away in this open-air Cuban spot, Rincon Criollo Cafe Restaurant, while it poured for 20 minutes and moved on. A daily storm in Miami and along the Atlantic coast is pretty typical. Watching the downpour, listening to locals sipping their cafecitos, as we enjoyed some shrimp creole and sangria is as peaceful as a storm watch can get.
Tumblr media
Nestled within the vibrant heart of Miami, the Wynwood Mural District (Wynwood Walls) is a kaleidoscope of creativity, a place where art and urban life collide in a symphony of colors, shapes, and stories. It embraces a spirit of eclecticism that invites visitors and locals alike to explore, ponder, and celebrate the myriad forms of human expression.
Tumblr media
Wynwood and greater Miami as a whole blows up for Art Basal and Miami Art Week, where artists from all over the world take over to showcase their best works. A friend of mine who manages the Dr. Martens store in South Beach was our friendly tour guide for everything above and underground about Miami's art scene.
One spot we checked out early is Dante's HiFi, a lounge known for a bounding collection of vinyl and local DJ spotlights. First impression: love the intimacy of it, although you need a reservation if you want a dedicated spot to sit in their 70s-inspired living room sets. Though its petite inside, you may want to dance! And its definitely a place for the audiophile that appreciates the analog nostalgia.
Tumblr media
There are plenty of bars, art galleries, popup events and all sorts of goings on that will make you ask: "What is Miami?" We walked by one particular sneaker boutique that was blaring trap rap or SOMETHING comparable (I'm horrible with genres and sub-genres) and there was a full blown launch party going on with test tube shots and everything. It's a moment when you take a double-take and still can't decipher what is happening.
Tumblr media
This little plot in the center of Wynwood is where you can satiate yourself on the go, cause you have lots of mural's to see. Smorgasburg Miami's food truck lot promises an unforgettable, palate-pleasing adventure that celebrates the vibrant and diverse food scene of the Magic City. We sampled some new, almost on the market, canned beverage that supposed to taste like aromatic gin and tonics. Quite pleasant, but the name escapes me.

Even the sidewalks are tagged or else, artistically loved on. I had to snap this Warhol in the wild. Looks as if someone used the cig ash to create this iconic print.
We walked all over the place and in circles around Wynwood, there's something to see at every turn of the block. And I recommend going at night: obviously its cooler at night and the neon lights are out.
Peep my next post all about how shocked I was that I secured a reservation at the luxurious Gianni's Restaurant at the old Versace mansion, coming soon.

All the things wrong (and right) with Disney’s The Princess and the Frog:
Tumblr media
(Buckle up, I got a list 😒)
The obvious class difference. Even if Big Daddy says thank you, he still raised a selfish daughter (idk what happened to the mama, it’s never explained). His daughter Charlotte tries not to be selfish, but she’s very unaware of what’s around her.
Love Keith David as Dr. Facilier, he’s fucking amazing and as much as I wanna hate his character, the more adult I become, the more I’m understanding the villains. It’s sad, but true lol.
Prince Naveen is incredibly selfish. His servant wouldn’t had switched up on him if he’d been more grateful. I’m blaming the parents cause they were taught a certain way. At least with Big Daddy, he tried. He was weak willed too but he tried.
This “I have to struggle and work hard my whole life for a fraction of what I want” mentality is what really pissed me off. It really showed a light on the class system in not only New Orleans, but now, and it still hasn’t changed.
The accents. 😑 WE DONT FUCKING TALK LIKE THAT!
The bankers are crooks, we already know that. And they’re very patronizing; there are plenty of women owned businesses in New Orleans. If we gon do something, we’re gonna do it.
They killed Tiana’s daddy off too early. Or hell, they shouldn’t have at all; he probably would’ve talked some sense into her about working so hard. Eudora could’ve been enjoying her old age with her husband (there ARE marriages that last). Plus she was barely in the movie. I don’t like Oprah but still, some characters HAVE parents. Disney is always with this narrative that characters don’t have parents, and if they do, they are stupid and useless and that’s dangerous considering who lining their pockets for all these movies and shit (these kids ain’t got money 🙄😒)
Prince Naveen is stupid and lack common sense 😑. Again, I blame the parents. He doesn’t know how to do anything, and I realize that we ourselves don’t know everything (like balancing finances, what to do in case of emergencies, what to do in case of ill parents, etc.) because we’re not thinking about that, we’re not thinking to ask about all of that because we’re used to being taken care of and having everything done for us. But that has to stop cause Prince Naveen admitted to not washing his own mouth so I know he never washed his own ass. There’s common sense shit and then there’s adult shit.
Mama Odie, Ray, and Louis are national treasures, you hear me? Ray shouldn’t have died. This new show they claim they gonna give us would’ve benefitted from the show. Hopefully they highlight Ray in some way, the right way.
I’m mad as hell Tiana was a frog the whole movie. They ain’t did this with the other acceptable minority characters, but with her it was ok, and since we were children when this came out, we ain’t know any better. Idk how they gonna work the show but if they ever do a live version of the movie or something, they better make shit right. Disney finally giving us lgbtq+ characters but still do the majority of their audiences (the black minority) wrong.
They ain’t showcase all the food. We don’t just do gumbo and beignets. There’s other creole and non creole cuisine that was never displayed.
Tiana is the first vegetarian frog I’ve ever seen, I’ve never seen a frog not want bugs before.
The bayou is not pretty and magical. Some people can’t do bugs and swamps and shit, and that’s ok. I knew from a very young age that I hated outside. If it weren’t near the front porch/backyard area, I wasn’t going outside. Nothing to be ashamed of.
Voodoo/Hoodoo isn’t black and white. They pretty much whitewashed it in the movie and made it seem evil when like any religion, it is dependent on the person. It is the individual that makes the belief good or bad, not the actual belief. I hope that makes sense, I’m too sick to explain it, but there are people on this app better at explaining this type of stuff than me.
I don’t feel like the movie explained the difference between wants and needs. But again, it’s a children movie, morals is not the objectivity. It’s bright and colorful with music, that was the whole point.
I don’t like when people are upset, first thing they wanna do is lash out at other people. Because shit wasn’t going Tiana’s way, she lashed out at Ray about Evangeline not being real (turns out she was, so ha!) but still. Just cause things are bleak in the moment don’t mean you have to be nasty to people who are going out of their way to help you. Cause Ray could’ve been a mean muthafucka and never helped any of them at all, and there why his death hit hard.
Tiana’s restaurant lowkey looks like the place my family be having weddings; a lot of the places they did manage to get right.
They did get that quick fix solutions solve nothing. Yes you need hard work to get what you want but it’s not everything. How you gon enjoy the shit if all you do is work towards it?
Ray’s funeral send off is as close to a second line as Disney was gonna allow, and I’m ok with that. Everyone does their funerals differently, that’s why New Orleans got so many rituals.
I love despite Louis being a gator, Tiana gave him a permanent place in her restaurant because he loved playing jazz so much. He became the house musician/bodyguard/pet.
Tiana only real friend was Charlotte. Never judged her about constantly working towards her dreams or complained about her never wanting to go out. Some people don’t want to do that and it’s fine. But I bet by the end of the movie then vultures was in that restaurant dancing and eating.
Ok that’s the end of my rant lol. Stay tune for the next movie lol 🥴🥴🥴

i; Blue Bayou Series
Oh that boy of mine, by my side. The silver moon and the evening tide.
Tumblr media
Series Masterlist
Pairing: TFAWS!Sam Wilson x fem!Reader
Summary: Sam Wilson is back living in Louisiana and meets y/n for the first time.
Word Count: 1397
Author’s Notes: I’m so excited for this series, please let me know any feedback you have!
“Alright, I’ll see you next Friday at the base. And Torres, tell your team to try and stay out of TROUBLE until then, alright?” Sam quickly hung up his call with Joaquin, shutting the door to his truck and getting himself situated inside. He was already thirty minutes late for picking up AJ and Cass, and he was sure that the boys would be jumping out of their skin to leave when he got to their house.
After becoming the new Captain America and returning to Louisiana for his family’s cookout, Sam decided it was time to move back permanently to be closer to Sarah and the boys. He could do all his Captain America duties while being the best Brother and Uncle he could be. He had already been back in town for three months and he was already happier than he ever had been. The family business was BOOMING, even more so now that everyone knew who he was. They all wanted some of Captain America’s seafood.
Today was one of those days where he was trying to balance his new role and his family obligations. He had promised AJ and Cass that he’d take them out fishing today, and he was honestly looking forward to a calm day on the open water. The only things that mattered out in the river were the sounds of birds flying overhead, the WAVES rocking gently against the boat, and the laughter from his nephews to surround him. Sam relaxes back into his seat, popping his Marvin Gaye Let’s Get It On CD into the player, letting the smooth sounds of the titled track blare through the speakers of his truck.
Tumblr media
Sam pulls up to the front of Sarah’s home, his eyes focusing on an unfamiliar black Toyota Camry pulled up to the front near the porch. Sam puts the car in park behind the unknown vehicle, noticing a Colorado license plate on the back. Who would be here from Colorado? His footsteps are light against the wooden porch, not bothering to knock as he pulls open the screen door. “Sarah? AJ? Cass?” He calls out, shutting the door behind him. He hears the sound of DISHES moving in the kitchen, walking towards the sound. “What’s a guy gotta do to get a hello around-” His voice trails off as he notices the figure standing in the kitchen.
She is definitely NOT his sister. The woman turns towards Sam’s voice, a smile spreading across her face, reminding him of how it felt to feel the sunshine on his skin. The woman had her hands on a tray of biscuits, pushing a few into a row of styrofoam takeout containers on the counter.
“I know you…” Her voice is soft, trailing off as she looks him up and down. He knows where this is going to go, he’d had MANY Captain America fans come up to him since moving back to Louisiana, everyone had a reason to use him for a claim to his fame.
She walks in front of him, the warm smile still on her face as she extends a hand. “You’re Sam, Sarah’s brother right? I’ve seen your pictures in the house and she’s told me SO much about you.” Right, her brother. That’s all he used to be, Sarah’s brother, the Wilson’s BOY, and he forgot how it felt to be addressed as such.
Sam’s hand reaches out to hers, grasping it with his own and giving it a shake. His eyes lock on hers and he SWEARS his stomach feels like butterflies are swarming around. He had never felt that way. “Yes, that’s me. And you are?”
“I’m Y/N.” Her eyes are still locked with him when she realizes they’ve been shaking hands for far too long. Her hand moves out of his, feeling the heat of a BLUSH creeping up her neck and onto her cheeks.
“Sam? Is that you?” He turns his head to see Sarah BOUNDING down the stairs, hands reaching out to hug him. “I see you’ve met Y/N?” She moves from his embrace, standing next to the stranger in her kitchen. Sarah and y/n are matching, both wearing a black sports bra and leggings, each finishing off the look with some Adidas sneakers.
“Yeah, I have...where did you two meet?” His eyebrow is cocked while he watches Sarah finish filling up the styrofoam containers, putting them into an empty large cardboard box on the stool.
“We actually met at the boxing gym downtown. Y/N is QUITE impressive.” Y/N rolls her eyes, washing her hands off in the sink. “Sarah is lying, we are both fairly skilled. She makes for a great competitor in the ring. She’s been nice enough to show me around town these past few weeks. I’m definitely grateful for the company.” Sarah laughs, grabbing one of the filled boxes and handing it to the other woman. “We were actually headed there now since you were taking the boys out fishing.” She moves to look at the stairs. “AJ? Cass? Sam’s here!” Her voice booms, calling out towards them. “They were just finishing up re-organizing their tackle box before you came. We’re taking these plates to one of the boxers at the gym. His family is celebrating a birthday and they LOVE our fresh cajun seasoned crawfish. Y/N was kind enough to offer to come early and help me get all the orders together.” Y/N nudges Sarah softly with her elbow, a gesture as if to say she doesn’t mind helping.
Just then, the boys bound down the stairs, laughing about an inside joke and practically tackling Sam in a hug. “You’re late! We’ve been waiting for you all morning!” Cass cries out, giving Sarah and y/n a chance to slip behind them, boxes of takeout in hand. “I’m sorry guys, I had a work call to take. Grab your poles from the garage and put them in the back of the truck. And no fighting over who gets the window seat.” The boys race outside and Sam can already HEAR them starting to argue over who had the window seat last time. He picks up the last box of takeout containers, following after the women out the door. All three place the boxes in the trunk of y/n’s car before Sarah shuts it, moving to the passenger and opening the door.
Just as y/n steps towards the front driver side door Sam beats her to it, opening it with a SMILE spread across his face. “Thank you, I guess chivalry is not dead after all.” She teases, moving down to get in the seat. Sam still hovers at her open door, bending his down slightly to meet her gaze. He pauses for the moment, unsure of what to say.
“So, uh...since you’re NEW to the area have you been to Thompson’s Kitchen? Some of the best cajun and creole food in the area.” Her head turns to look at Sarah who is rolling her eyes. Sam’s got a way with the ladies, but she hasn’t seen him act like this around a woman in a long time. “I’ve never been there, but it sounds nice.” She tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear and Sam’s eyes follow her movements, noticing how her nails are painted a pale blue which CONTRASTS well with her skin tone, yet they are chipping off in many places, most likely from the boxing gloves.
“How about I meet you there tomorrow at 7?” He’d offer to pick her up from her place but he assumes that would be weird, not like asking her out in front of his sister after just meeting her WASN’T weird.
“Sounds good, I’ll see you then.” She gives him another smile as AJ and Cass run up to Sam’s truck, setting their poles next to his own in the back of the bed.
“Sam! We’re ready!” AJ calls out, opening the door of the cab as Cass hops in the middle seat. They’ve decided that the best TWO out of three in rock, paper, scissors was the way to go. “I should head out...see you tomorrow y/n.” He lets her door shut, walking to the front of his own vehicle.
Sam Wilson, you’ve only been in town for three months and you’re ALREADY interested in a woman? Who even are you?
