Different Styles Of Voodoo
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When I hear that a country or city don't practice real Vaudou aka voodoo it bothers me when that person don't really know what voodoo, Vodou, Vodun etc is. Some think that it started in Haiti or that it isn't real if your not initiated in Haiti. So I wanted to make this quick post to show a few of the different styles of voodoo there are. Do the proper research and choose which practice calls to you.
Tumblr media
First up is African Vodun is an is the birth place of vodun a ancient religion practiced by some 30 million people in the West African nations of Benin, Togo and Ghana. With its countless deities, animal sacrifice and spirit possession, voodoo — as it's known to the rest of the world — is one of the most misunderstood religions on the globe.
Tumblr media
Second Haitian Vodou is an African diasporic religion that developed in Haiti. It arose through a process of syncretism between several traditional religions of West and Central Africa and Roman Catholicism. Vodou revolves around spirits known as lwa. Typically deriving their names and attributes from traditional West and Central African divinities, they are equated with Roman Catholic saints and the central ritual involves practitioners drumming, singing, and dancing to encourage a lwa to possess one of their members and thus communicate with them.
Tumblr media
Third. Louisiana Voodoo, also known as New Orleans Voodoo, is an African diasporic religion which originated in Louisiana, now in the southern United States. It arose through a process of syncretism between the traditional religions of West Africa, Haitian Vodou and some christianity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Forth Santería, also known as Regla de Ocha, Regla Lucumí, or Lucumí, is an African diasporic religion that developed in Cuba during the late 19th century. It arose through a process of syncretism between the traditional Yoruba religion of West Africa, the Catholic form of Christianity, and Spiritism. This is the same as the Ifa in Africa except they use saints also
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fifth Palo: also known as Las Reglas de Congo, is an African diasporic religion that developed in Cuba. This is the first practice that hit first before Santeria. It arose through a process of syncretism between the traditional Kongo religion of Central Africa, the Roman Catholic branch of Christianity, and Spiritism.
Tumblr media
Sixth Espiritismo: Spiritism. Espiritismo (Spiritism) is rooted in the belief system that the spirit world can intervene in the human world and is widely practiced in Puerto Rico it not voodoo but I wanted to add it. At its most basic level, it invokes God and The Positive Spirits to divine for and assist the person. There is the use of a table covered with a white cloth, a large bowl full of water, and a crucifix. There are no initiations into this tradition and people work together at gatherings called Misas.
Tumblr media
Seventh Sanse: Sanse is a cross between Spiritism and the 21 Divisions. In this tradition, the dead and the Lwa (or Misterios) are worked with spiritually. There is an initiation called a Bautizo (Baptism) and people work withall sorts of different spiritual tableaus, or frameworks.
Tumblr media
Eight. Obeah, or Obayi, is a series of African diasporic spell-casting and healing traditions found in the former British colonies of the Caribbean. These traditions derive much from traditional West African practices that have undergone cultural creolization.
Tumblr media
Ninth. Dominican Vudú, known as Las 21 Divisiones (The 21 Divisions), is a heavily Catholicized syncretic shamanistic religion of African-Caribbean origin which developed in the erstwhile Spanish colony of Santo Domingo on the island of Hispaniola. Now 21 Divisiones/Dominican vudu is very similar to the tchatcha/kwakwa/Deka lineage in Haiti. In 21 Divisiones and in the tchatcha lineage of Haitian vodou, is the north part of Hati and the initiations are different and the temples are organized differently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tenth. Trinidad Orisha, also known as Shango, is a syncretic religion in Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean, originally from West Africa.
I these are some of the voodoo style practices around the world .

I love giving advice, apparently, so if you are a newly pierced person or are planning on being pierced, here are some of the things I found helpful, as somebody who isn't a professional piercer but has had six plus piercings on my face and body, and multiple ear piercings (which I don't count, since I DIY'd them):
Normal bath towels are your enemy, proceed with caution after bathing. NEVER wipe moisture away from a fresh piercing, always pat it dry
You will hit a new piercing and it will hurt. This is inevitable, just know that you likely haven't destroyed it. Feel free to cry, though, it hurts like hell.
If your piercer gives you instructions, heed them. If you're on restrictions, please take it as seriously as possible
When you're going in for a piercing, please eat or drink something - at least what constitutes as a snack for your body. It really helps
If you're getting an oral piercing, make sure you size down after the healing period - I hadn't sized down for my last oral piercing when I first had the chance, and it was... so annoying to have too-large of jewelry
Not all jewelry is made equally. Do your research on materials, threading, and sizing. I've found that titanium jewelry is really nice for me, and I like it, but that isn't the only option. Make sure you think about your body and its needs and preferences
Close your eyes while being pierced (I found this really helps me)
Don't over-clean a new piercing, twice per day is usually a good place to start
The completed healing period is a very average suggestion - you may heal slower or faster. Try to adhere to that suggestion, though, especially if you do not feel you're healed enough
Personally, I have found that I am completely healed when my piercing feels like just another part of my body, even when it is touched. When my piercings start to feel as though they are foreign when they never do before, I know I likely need to clean them
While I have DIY'd piercings, I personally do not recommend it, especially if you are either not using sterilized equipment, or are piercing a very dangerous place (like the tongue). If you are absolutely positive about committing to the DIY mindset, please try to do due diligence in research at least
Tip your piercer. Body mods are a luxury service, and it takes years to even become a piercer, much less to be proficient at it. Tip your piercer, ESPECIALLY if their prices feel too good to be true - they likely are. Unless you are directed otherwise by your piercer, just assume that you will be tipping them for their services and budget accordingly
Make sure you understand how your piercer wants you to take care of your piercing, and ask questions. There is no question too "dumb"
If you are getting a body part pierced you are insecure about, realize your piercer has most likely seen HUNDREDS of different body parts of various sizes, shapes, and oddities. Your body is not uniquely bad, nor would a good piercer make you feel unwelcome or uncomfortable with your body. If they do, however, DO NOT go through with the piercing. You should feel safe being pierced by somebody, and, indeed, that is the bare minimum.
If you use saline wash to clean piercings, you can DIY it. You will go through NeilMed like no other, and with it being $5USD a bottle, that price can rack up quickly. Make sure you use distilled water and non-iodized salt, though
If your piercing is infected, please don't be too ashamed to seek help. It's in your best interest to make sure you don't get ill or your site gets nasty ("nasty" as in painful)
These are just some of the things I've learned being a pierced person! My piercings are something I absolutely needed, and I do not for a minute regret having them. I want that same happiness to befall you, and that happens when you are able to understand a bit more what goes into piercings. You are, essentially, getting a new body part installed by a pro, and so I don't want you to not be ready for that.
Again, I am not a professional piercer, but am rather a body piercing enthusiast with many different types of piercings. I don't have every piercing, though, so please look at this critically for the piercing(s) that you want or have. At least, treat this like a soft suggestion or ways to help you brainstorm what you will find helpful.
More tips are obviously welcomed, especially if you yourself have more insight or expertise. Good luck to every pierced person or future pierced person reading this💛
#body modification#body mods#piercings#body piercing#long post#honestly i love having a professional relationship with my piercer and i feel so happy to be pierced by her#i think the client and piercer relationship is a very important aspect of getting a piercing#and i don't think people talk about that part much. you should feel SAFE being around your piercer#they are literally creating a new hole in your body with a needle. that is a very vulnerable position to be in#but i'm honestly shocked at how cheap my piercer is...#...so my last piercing was only $50USD and that included the (nice) jewelry. i feel that in that cast tipping 60% was worth it...#...i know that can rack up the cost of the piercing but especially if you LIKE your piercer (like i do) - try being as generous as possible#i personally LOVE tipping my piercer and it's the best way i can show her that i LOVE her work even when i tell her#love having a personal blog that i can be autistic about piercings!!!!! I LOVE THIS ANCIENT TRADITIONNNN#one of my profs let us write about anything as long as it was an essay and i went Insane writing about historical piercing practices#LOVE ALL TYPES OF PIERCINGS especially ones that are used to 'scare' outsiders <3#when i was a kid they used to tell us about the Mystical African Tribes that STRETCHED THEIR LIPS (scary!!!!)...#...if it isn't obvious i hate that the lip plate especially practiced by the Mursi and many others have been used for frankly rascist ideas#i brought up the lip thing because i learned a lot about iirc the Mursi practice of lip plating and it's given me more appreciation for it!!#it's ENDLESSLY fascinating and i wish i hadn't been shown the negative bias against them first

How To Stop A Boo Hag From Riding You Or Your Family. Hoodoo Working.
Tumblr media
In this post I'll be talking on Boo Hags and giving a working to capture one from writing you are a family member.
But before I do let's talk on what they actually are.
Where Did The Story Come From? Boo Hag is rooted in African American folklore, mostly by the Gullah-Geechee communities along low country. Now one origin of the Boo Hag is traced back to West African folklore and there is a creature known as the “Adze” or “Ade” a Adze.
What Are They? Boo hags are spirits, their similar to vampires that may be undead beings or spirits that feed off of living humans by sitting on their victims chest and sucking the energy or life sustenance from a person's breath, instead of their blood. I think their spirits of dead witches who continue to do bad after death, over time they change into this enity. Boo Hags can also give a person the medical condition known as "Sleep Paralysis"
You may wake up with strange scratches, recurring nightmares, exhaustion and illness as a result. All together, these symptoms will lead to mental illness or death
How To They Get In My House? They can easily enter your house through very small openings like a window, or a crack in a wall, key holes etc.
Fortunately, there are some warning signs that a Boo Hag may be close by. Some dogs are able to sense their presence and will start howling or barking. Crows will also recognize them. The air will be hot and damp, smell of rot and decay can happen. Now I never experienced one my self but if you have these signs then It could be a hag.
How Can One Hope To Stop Such Evil? For all of the Boo Hag’s power, there are a number of ways to keep her at bay.
Story goes that they obsessive-compulsive disorder and feels compelled to count the actions any small objects. Scattering sesame seeds around the bed will accomplish this as well can help you escape.
Who knows how fast they count but they do like to count. Sun light can destroy her.
Fake Hoodoo. I see this a lot, Boo Hag, hates the smell of asafoetida. This plaint is native to places like Turkmenistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan so understand how did the African Americans use this in the south. DON'T BYE.
WORKING: To Catch a Boo Hags.
Get yourself a blue bottle. Haunt blue and a plain white candle. (You can bye these bottles cheap online or use a bud platinum bottle or a milk of magnesia bottle)
Clean the bottle out. Then turn the bottle on its side and place it by the door of the room or where you believe the hag might be coming in at.
Next place mustered seeds under the bed making a line from the bed all the way to the bottle, then around the bottle. (You can add a pinch of salt to it a well.
Light your white candle in the back behind the bottle. Pray the 23rd Psalms.
If and when the candle start making hussing or crackling sounds you have it trapped in the bottle. Take your cap and close the bottle up take it out side and dispose of it. The sun will destroy it.

i'm not a soccer girlie in any way shape or form but this world cup has made me Feel Things esp this game with morocco and portugal. like we just witnessed history. history. morocco being the 1st (FIRST!!!) african team to make it to the quaterfinals and then b e a t portugal to be the first african team in world cup history to go to the freaking semifinals!! like this is history HISTORY and yayaya ik for some ppl iTs JuSt SoCcEr but it's sm more than that. it's about teamwork, about pushing past the limits, ignoring what the rest of the world thinks about you, sweating with your brothers on a field in front of the whole world, it's about representing your country but also your continent which has the stereotype of being nothing but a primitive, third world place with little to offer the rest of the world. sports have sm feeling in them and this world cup i swear i've been moved so close to tears you can feel the dedication and commitment they have not only to each other but to the people of the nation they love.
