Derek: Violence isn't the answer.
Reid: You’re right.
Derek: *sighs in relief*
Reid: Violence is the question.
Derek: What?
Reid, bolting away: And the answer is yes.
Derek, running after them: NO-

Killer stories: "The Station Poisoner" (Alexey Vygovsky 🇷🇺)
Tumblr media
Known as 'The Station Poisoner', Alexey Olegovich Vygovsky, born on June 6, 1986, emerged as one of Russia's most notorious serial killers. Together with two accomplices, between 2006 - 2009, Vygovsky mercilessly poisoned 32 innocent individuals with a deadly substance💀, with the aim of robbing them in the metro stations across Russia. The brutal savagery resulted in the tragic loss of 17 lives, and left 15 more grappling with severe, lasting neurological damage that forever altered their lives.
Amongst the victims, was a 30-year-old promising athlete, Maxim Pakhomushkin, who tragically lost his life in the summer of 2008🏃‍♂️.
Despite his heinous actions, Vygovsky pled innocence, stating he downplayed his role in the murders during his interrogation. He only admitted to the robberies, maintaining that he too consumed the poisonous concoction as a supposed 'cure' to his own ailments--a claim that was swiftly dismissed by the investigators. 🚔🔍
In 2009, justice was served when Vygovsky was apprehended and sentenced to an imprisonment of 22 years, and three months for his monstrous acts. His accomplices, likewise, paid for their crimes-- with one of them meeting a fate in detention due to heart failure stemming from drug addiction.

Major in Forensic Psychology
So I am currently in the process of gaining my undergrad degree in forensic psychology. I’m attending Southern New Hampshire University online and am loving it! I would recommend this school to anyone who has struggled with standard college. I went to my local community college when I was 20 and hated it. I thought that college just wasn't for me, but when I finally decided to chase my dream of becoming a profiler, i knew that I would have to do it online. Between covid and my day to day life of work and living with my fiancee, I knew I couldn't attend a regular college and abandon all of my responsibilities. This school has welcomed me with open arms and has great people who check in on you every few weeks and are always accessible at anytime to help you with your tenure at the school.
I am still taking my pre recs, but I actually feel like I am learning the things I want in the way that I want. I’m not into any of my psych classes just yet(will be next term), but I have never had this much drive to work hard on my studies and achieve this goal.
I plan to continue onto my masters with SNHU also in forensic psychology, and eventually get a PsyD in the same field. I want to be able to leave this world a better place for my children and everyone else’s than the way that I found it. I want to be able to say I helped take some of the worst people in the world off of the streets to help secure a safer future for everyone I know and those I don't.
I don't want to go work for the FBI, if it happens like that, that could be fun, but I would rather work in the private sector and be my own boss. I want to be able to help people without having to worry about any higher ups breathing down my neck and always having unnecessary pressure be put on me by anyone but myself.
I know its hard to be able to look even one year in the future, but I feel like I have a pretty strong 10-15 year plan ahead of me, and I am looking forward to every second.
Stay tuned.

Racial Profiling; an Ethical Issue!
Welcome back to Ethics 101! 😁
Today’s blog will feature racial profiling and state how is this an issue within the field of criminal justice. Have you ever been searched simply because you were of a specific race? Have you ever been stereotyped or became a suspect simply because your looked, dressed, or spoke in a certain manner? Well, if yes, you have been a victim of racial profiling; an action that has become second nature to many criminal justice practitioners.
Tumblr media
Racial Profiling refers to the act of judging various individuals based on “stereotypical assumptions because of one’s race, colour, ethnicity or otherwise”(Ontario Human Rights Commission, n.d.). In Jamaica, citizens are typically judged as criminals or not based on the colour of their skin among other factors which is somewhat unbelievable since most Jamaicans are of African descent. Naturally light-skinned Jamaicans are usually given a preference, while Rastafarians, dark-skinned Jamaicans, individuals who have “bleached” to obtain a lighter complexion, and other groups of people are judged. Racial profiling is also dominant globally, for example, in America since recent times where blacks are being targeted frequently and being stripped of their innocence. One such case is the popular case of George Floyd, an African-American who was killed after a white officer handcuffed and pinned him to the ground with his knee on his neck even though he was unarmed and innocent (New York Time, 2021). The officer did not tell Mr. Floyd a reason for the stop which forces one to believe that it was an act of racial profiling rather than reasonable suspicion. Are you seeing the ethical issue here?
Tumblr media
Is this Justifiable?
It may be easier to judge someone based on their race, colour or ethnicity especially if they are a part of a group that possess negative characteristics; additionally, it is easier to create a cluster based on probability and assume that all members of that group are the same. However, this does not make racial profiling justifiable or ethical! Racial profiling is never acceptable because the system should demonstrate justice and fairness rather than bias and racism. Every individual should be “innocent until proven guilty” despite their race, ethnicity or being a part of a specific group!
Tumblr media
Negative Effects of Racial Profiling in Jamaica’s Criminal Justice System
There is a possibility for the wrong individuals to suffer or become subjected to harsh treatments.
Citizens tend to become alienated or feel like outcasts- detached and isolated from society.
Creates distrust for and hate towards law enforcement officials.
Social divide/ community division
Creates fear among innocent citizens and young children
What can/should be done?
Criminal Justice practitioners should be properly educated on racial issues so that they will no longer be a part of the problem. These practitioners must be able to focus on criminal profiling rather than racial profiling and refrain from using their personal opinions to judge citizens. Criminal profiling has been proven to be quite effective since it relies on actual criminal behaviour and information regarding the suspect of the crime. Law enforcement officials should use their discretion but at the same time, they should let one’s actions speak rather than allowing their race, ethnicity, looks or company/group to decide their fate.

Working On My First Profile
So... I'm really excited to be making a profile for one of the most famous killers, Jack the Ripper. I got into true crime about a year ago when I got into a Law and Justice class at my high school. We never did this sort of stuff so it's super exciting to be learning something new! :)

Put it in my veins! Very interested to see how they handle the Atlanta Child Murders, particularly post-Monster podcast (wonder if Fincher or others listened to it?). Jonathan Groff & Anna Torv are fantastic. But it's Holt McCallany who's finally getting his chance to shine. #Horror #InstaHorror #Mindhunter #Netflix #DavidFincher #SerialKillers #AtlantaChildMurders #JonathanGroff #AnnaTorv #HoltMcCallany #HorrorFan #SerialKiller #CriminalPsychology #CriminalProfiling #HorrorAddict (at St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1OnGjeFOwb/?igshid=5igcpmcsu2eg
