I’ve had a dicussion with my sister, about how traditional clothing is usually presented

And there’s two ways, theater and museum (usually) both of which are very stiff, naturally, as the clothes themselves are meant to be accented

It’s not meant to be a story telling device

But, in a museums I wonder what we’re the limits, how much did people go out of their way to personalize what they wore, a little, a lot? How much could you shorten your skirt, how about sleeves

My grandma was a seamstress, that gave her a lot of freedom, and she was so pleased with herself that she was one of the first women to not wear a headscarf, in fact she dressed like Jackie Kennedy, imagine that scene, a sea of very traditional women and a Jackie Kennedy among them

Is it that easy ? Ok here I Go.. "Baggage Claim", then I give you my destination. BEG. Yes, that was it!

You and your buddies are on vacation in Croatia. And there you thought a suitcase from Belgrade could be useful. Of course, Serbs and Croats have not always been the best of friends. But let's see what develops. At least it's a huge sports bag that you got there. There should be enough stuff in it for the three of you. Even if most things are rather too big for you.

The sun is setting, the beach day is over. Your buddies help themselves to their clothes. You try out something from the bag from Belgrade. Yes, the T-shirt is too big. But somehow it feels good. It gives you strength and self-confidence. And even if you were always the smallest of the three of you, tonight you are somehow the leader of your little group. Although you just arrived this morning, you somehow know your way around the place. You feel a bit at home. And you speak a few words of the strange language.

The next morning, you grab a pair of shorts and running shoes from the gym bag. It's only 5:30 in the morning, but a run on the beach at sunrise is great and part of the vacation for you. When you arrive sweaty in your hotel room, your mates are still snoring. Let them, it's vacation after all. You pack your things for the beach and start the beach day in the outdoor gym with a few pull-ups.

Your lads spend most of the day on their beach loungers. You have to work off your excess energy. While you're at it, you make friends with some of the other lads on the workout machines. There are also a couple of Serbians, so communication is easier with them. But your Croatian is also getting better and better. The only thing that annoys you are your curls, which are always wet with sweat. You ask a local to give you a tip on where you can get a proper haircut. You plunge into the nightlife with your pals with very short hair.

After your lads have slept away the next day on the beach, you urge them to join you for a training session before dinner. You throw them something from the sports bag to wear. And you urge them to work out on the machines. You can afford it, God knows you've worked out enough today. After you have completed your program, it's straight to dinner. Unshowered. And not back to your hotel either, you go to the restaurant of one of your workout partners. Your lads finally have to get something decent to eat. Raw meat instead of fried stuff. And then it's off to bed early.

During the sunrise run, your pals' clothes are still very loose. You can't say that about your shirt. But hey, you have a few years of workout and experience ahead of them. And they really try hard. And tonight, after the day at the seaside, it's off to get a haircut. Those two look like girls.

If your lads really want to achieve something, an open-air gym like this might be a nice change. And it's also good for a basic tan. But you also have to go to a real gym. To the really heavy weights. So that your youngsters become real heavyweights, too. And if the two behave well today, it goes tonight as a reward again in the tattoo studio. After all, the muscles need to be decorated. And as a good coach, you have to take the stick and give them the carrot.

My friend is competing on Croatia's version of Dancing With the Stars / Strictly Come Dancing and we were talking about his last week's performance and I told him how I even downloaded the voting app to vote for him so I can support him (despite never voting in any local show previously ever in my life) and somehow we got to the topic of my grandma and how she's watched all seasons of the show and is a big fan and he told me he has a surprise for her today and he's been sending me videos of the cast members from rehearsals today where they're all saying hi to her by name and if that's not the sweetest thing ever, idk what is! She's so happy right now.

Ever since we lost papi, she hasn't been happy much, so it's really endearing to see her being happy like this again. Such a sweet gesture as well!

Fellow Croats remember the name Mario Mandarić because fame didn't change the man and it made him if anything, even kinder!

Ladies, gents, and all those in between and beyond, may I present...

The Hacker!

AKA Sage Corvid, age 28, and chronically tired hacker and computer virus programmer.

With their robotic arm, they are able to hack into any Dispenser, Teleporter, and Sentry in order to change the side of the device to service their own team for a brief time. They can also hack into Spy's disguise kit to disable it for a limited time as well. However, in both of these instances, they have to touch the device in question with the hand.

Alongside their Quick Hack arm, they also have a taser and a pistol. Their taser is built into their arm, so they have to be within melee distance to use it on someone to stun them. Their pistol is their long range device which doesn't do a lot of damage.

However, their final ability and arguably the most useful one is their shapeshifting ability: the ability to change into two animals (a crow and a cat.) They use this to sneak passed enemies and escape tricky situations more swiftly.

Small Things:

They have a tattoo of a crow on their left arm and a cat on their right arm.

The headphones they wear are noise-cancelling because they cannot stand the sound of bullets and loud noises in general.

Sage is Autistic and has BPD.

Under their oversized jacket, they have a machine strapped to their back that connects to their Quick Hack arm. It's basically the computer that is also connected to the headphones.

During fights, they always have music playing on their headphones.

They are seldom phased by shit.

They eventually develop a crush on Medic, who eventually returns their feelings

Backstory Stuff:

In 1940, Sage was born to a Yugoslavian father and American mother, who met right before the start of WWII. Their mother was forced to flee back to the United States because of the pregnancy, while their father remained in Yugoslavia to fight for the Partisans. Unfortunately, Sage's father arrived in the United States disabled post war.

Their mother and father were married when they were 5. For the next few years, Sage lived a happy childhood and learned Serbo-Croatian. However, at age 9, their parents were killed in a car accident, putting them in the care of their mother's tribe - the Abenaki. The US government tried to take them away multiple times, only for Sage to hide. It's here where Sage learned Western Abenaki.

It was among their people where they learned that they could shape-change into two animals (a crow and a cat), a gift that was passed down through Sage's father's side. Sage used this ability to escape out at night, play mischevious pranks, and escape unwanted situations. (This is often how they would escape the government looking for them.)

During these years, Sage lived with a war veteran who helped decode German messages. His name was Francis Brault, and he taught Sage all about codes and how to decode messages and other stuff. He even built his own computer. He taught Sage how to make one from spare parts, alongside how to fight and use guns. Francis also began working for IBM at this time, and this gave Sage a good window into computers and programming.

When Sage was 13, Francis took Sage to his work place, and Sage took to it very well - impressing Francis and some of his fellow programmers with their understanding of programs and computers. They were often invited by the programmers to experiment on their own, and their skills only seemed to improve (obviously they received help when they needed it.)

However, when Sage was 14, Francis died of cancer, and Sage was taken into the state's custody. Frustrated with being placed into foster care, Sage often avoided going back to their foster parent's "home" to go back to the IBM, where they were welcomed to come after school by the workers there who grew attached to the poor kid.

When they were 18, they aged out of the system, and Sage was effectively left alone. Their knowledge of computers and their fast growing skill with them allowed them to get a job working for a college in New York. And with this new job, they were the first person to create a computer virus.

During a regular day assisting with the computers, Sage found a rogue program in the system and used their own virus to combat it. They succeeded, but the person who actually messed up blamed them for the incident. Because of racism and general bigotry, Sage wasn't believed over the white guy and was fired.

At age 20, they began to built their own computers again, looting garbage bins and stole from hardware stores to do so. They moved to NYC, where they got a job as a cashier, but at night they'd make programs and computer viruses before sending them off via email to infect the systems of companies so they could steal money.

They did this for a while, worked for a few shady people as well, and started going by the name CROW. Learning from their mistakes, their programs and viruses became more and more advanced and dangerous. This eventually led them to discovering about Mann Co.

Originally it was just a curiosity, but as they began to syphon money from the company, they noticed that something wasn't right. This looked like a coverup for something else. Digging deeper, they found out about the Gravel War and found this to be especially interesting. They hacked the cameras to watch the fighting take place, finding it all very fascinating that these men were fighting over a gravel pit of all things.

However, they soon caught the attention of the Administrator due to a mistake on their part. And she sent someone after Sage. They kidnaped the enbie and took them to the Administrator, who offered them a deal. Either stay in Teufort and work for her, make tons of money, or be exposed as the thief who stole thousands from other companies and go to jail.

Sage chose the first option and became another mercenary. Their ultimate goal is to eventually take down the Administrator, but for the moment, seeing a bunch of grown men fight each other is equally fun.

Culture based on ancient Israelites, but they worship the sun and have tattoos

In my story, these people are a nomadic group that worship a sun god known as “Shemesh.” (the Hebrew word for sun) They generally have light olive skin and wavy dark brown hair. I know it’s a fantasy culture, but I still want to be respectful to Judaism since I’m drawing some inspiration from the Israelites. With that being said, would tattoos be offensive in this setting? Is drawing from two cultures with different views on tattoos problematic?

For reference, I’m a Japanese, Mexican, and Black Catholic. So I’m not personally familiar with Judaism. Online research and articles have been my only resource.

I’m not sanguine about having something coded as ancient Israelite that worships observable natural phenomena. A great deal of our cultural narratives about our early development specifically places us in contrast to cultures that worship something other than a formless, omnipresent God, and often specifically sun worship. Many Jewish people, both who do and who do not believe that Torah is divinely inspired or historical truth, believe that the intent of many of the laws, especially ones like the law against tattooing one’s body, may have been intentionally designed to set us apart from neighboring cultures, to create a cultural identity that was not compatible with assimilation with cultures that ate pork, had religious tattoos, or worshiped the sun. 

Many people credit that distinctness of identity, that separateness, with the survival of our culture through the centuries, so to see something coded Jewish, that is, implied to be us in some meaningful way, mixed together with those opposing attributes, would not feel like positive representation.

You don’t say a lot in your ask about what aspects of Jewish or ancient Israelite culture you’re using to code this group, other than a generally Mediterranean phenotype and your use of the Hebrew word for sun as the name of their god--if that’s about the extent of it, then you don’t have a lot of revision to do to keep the bones of your idea without directly associating recognizable Jewish coding with sun worship. What if you name the sun-god something else, and include inspiration from other Bronze Age cultures along with the foundation you drew from Jewish, Croatian, and Celtic sources, to create something that skips the discomfort of muddling Jewishness together with other systems? 

Basically, I don’t think it’s necessary to tear your idea down and start from scratch, just make it not overtly Jewish and you’ll have avoided a discomfort I’m sure you didn’t even know to look out for. Good luck!

i was legit just thinking about šime earlier today 😭

favorite thing about them: man, of everyone who's made an appearance on my favs list, he is absolutely the most mysterious, both because he is mysterious but also because he would rarely do an interview in a language i can understand (tyoma is monolingual but somehow very understandable anyway 😂). šime speaks spanish and english but would only really do interviews in croatian or italian i feel like. so i feel like i know so little about him! but of course: he has the absolute most beautiful footballer tattoos (that BUTTERFLY!!!), fantastic taste in music, and his sense of style--a little more alternative/edgy than other footballers. he's clearly a guy who did his own thing without seeking a lot of external validation, and it was fascinating how he comes across as very mysterious but very steady at once. he's also very uniquely beautiful--there is that "you can tell a lot about a person based on whether they think šime or dejan is hotter" concept 😂 and the whole tungelr knows where i stand on this, but, damn if šime's slutty pirate/širen self isn't captivating to stare at. i miss him SO much and think constantly about how he essentially gave his whole career to the 2018 world cup without realizing.

something else is how humble and normal he always came across. of course you can only know about these people what they put on social media, but back when he was active on there, he was never vacationing to dubai or ibiza or on some yacht--he'd go home to Zadar and repair old cars with a grungy tshirt tied around his head.

least favorite thing about them: that he knocked up some Instagram Hot Lady and got together with her! and disappeared off social media and is made of literal glass! promise i'm not showing favoritism--i don't think šejan had a dramatic and bad breakup, but i think science kind of proves that the breakup was driven by šime bc dej is persistent as fuck and clearly a very devoted long distance boyfriend 😂

favorite line: omg i can't remember the exact translation of it, but it was during the wc when he was like "you film me doing everything, you'd probably film me taking a piss" and dej was like "THAT'S RIGHT!!!" i mean, the šejan lajvs had a ton of classics that i could go back and find, but i'm contractually obligated to say that one

to see šejan, two grown ass men, in hysterical giggles in their own private world, is something else entirely. those 2 really had something going on. they kind of had "read each other's minds and finish each other's sentences" vibes, except they were usually laughing too hard to even finish a sentence. at the same time, šime's calm, even energy was obviously so healthy for dejan's uh, in the words of Mo, stormy head. it breaks my heart that it is over.

(PLUS. when deki said šime should get his name tattooed on him on šime's pornographic workout livestream...)

Good evening dear Anonymous, and thank you so much for the patience. Finally we have another headcanon post upon my blog! And I thought it only fair to honour one of the most beautiful women in the palazzo for such an occasion.

I will try my best to keep Caius’ ire from growing out of hand.

Athenodora is one of the most respected women amongst vampires, often considered to be one of the oldest ones alive today besides Amun and Kebi of The Egyptian Coven. This leads to many vampires being quite intimidated by her despite never really showing her temper in public. Behind the carefully crafted facade of The Volturi she is quite the righteous woman with a heart of gold, willing to lay down her life for both coven and family if it demanded of her. So when a vampire does not show that immediate fear she has become accustomed to, she will be interested regardless of the connection.

“Dora, I was wondering if you,-” “Dora?” “... Yes, Sulpicia said it is what everyone calls you.” “... Not everyone no.” “Oh” “... Only those special to me” “I am sorry,-” “No. Keep using it.”

At one of The Volturi’s many gatherings Athenodora would witness a clueless vampire sweet talking her beloved. Before anyone had noticed Athenodora would have brought them into her arms and given them a fierce kiss for all to see. After she would have looked upon the suitor with a smug grin before pulling her mate into a fast paced dance, her leading of course. That was the night her would-be lover understood Athenodora was just as dangerous as she was beautiful.

Their first outing would be to a theatre, it is Athenodora’s favourite pastime and she would make sure to explain the plot well before the night was upon them. After all, she truly wished for her beloved to enjoy it as much as she did.

“What is your favourite story?” “All of them.” “That is a cheap answer!” “Not if it is a queen that said it.”

She will definitely be teaching her mate how to fight wether they like it or not, to her it is a bonding activity that may land them in som precarious situations if she times it correctly. The sessions are filled with laughter however, and soon enough her lover will find themselves on their back, Athenodora straddling them before leaning down to give them a kiss.

On moonlit nights she would have her lover leaned against her chest or shoulder as she ran her fingers through their hair, spinning all sorts of tales about her thousands of years in this world. Her voice having a slight rasp too it and soft as the night, a detail of her character that her lover would never forget about her.

Athenodora does in fact have tattoos, so one of her favourite things for her lover to do is simply trace them with their fingers as they lay in bed at night. She will gladly speak of the symbols and their meaning, after all tattooing had a different purpose back in her day.

PDA: Athenodora is quite fond of PDA, having no qualms about grasping for her beloved wether it be by hand, waist or hair if the mood strikes her. One thing is for sure, if you take Athenodora as a lover you will experience her bestowing you're behind with a slap or two a day.

Terms of endearment Athenodora would use: "Dragi/draga/drago” (Croatian for dear/darling) and Sweetheart.

Being with Athenodora is a privilege few has been able to claim, for not everyone is worthy of being with a woman as fierce as her.
