THERAPISTS AND EVALUATORS We need to take a large step back in time for a moment, to the early part of Freud’s era, when modern psychology was born. In the 1890s, when Freud was in the dawn of his , he was struck by how many of his female patients were revealing childhood incest victimization to him. Freud concluded that child sexual abuse was one of the major causes of emotional disturbances in adult women and wrote a brilliant and humane paper called “The Aetiology of Hysteria.” However, rather than receiving acclaim from his colleagues for his ground-breaking insights, Freud met with scorn. He was ridiculed for believing that men of excellent reputation (most of his patients came from upstanding homes) could be perpetrators of incest. Within a few years, Freud buckled under this heavy pressure and recanted his conclusions. In their place he proposed the “Oedipus complex,” which became the foundation of modern psychology. According to this theory any young girl actually desires sexual contact with her father, because she wants to compete with her mother to be the most special person in his life. Freud used this construct to conclude that the episodes of incestuous abuse his clients had revealed to him had never taken place; they were simply fantasies of events the women had wished for when they were children and that the women had come to believe were real. This construct started a hundred-year history in the mental health field of blaming victims for the abuse perpetrated on them and outright discrediting of women’s and children’s reports of mistreatment by men. Once abuse was denied in this way, the stage was set for some psychologists to take the view that any violent or sexually exploitative behaviors that couldn’t be denied—because they were simply too obvious—should be considered mutually caused. Psychological literature is thus full of descriptions of young children who “seduce” adults into sexual encounters and of women whose “provocative” behavior causes men to become violent or sexually assaultive toward them.

I'm going to keep reblogging and helping inform people about the situation(s) happening in the world. but all the problems have really been a huge detriment to my mental health and I think after the strike I might take a little time off tumblr.
This blog isn't even a year old, and it has already deviated from its original purpose (for a good reason!) to help raise awareness to issues in the world and on the internet. Once the strike is over, I just need a break from it all. The blog will be back to its most basic purpose and will just post the daily sparkles until I'm ready to go back to answering asks and posting funny stuff. I've also got some posts queued up for after the strike.
I love y'all and I appreciate you for being receptive to my advocacy and wish to keep my followers informed. For the remainder of the strike, I will still answer asks if anyone has any questions or wants to request any further information on anything.
❤️

I just read a piece of The Hunger Games meta that said something like: "The book isn't about whether child murder is evil; everyone can agree that child murder is evil" and like. I congratulate your faith in humanity but I'm afraid it's misplaced.
or, if you want, for some time there's been a movement to redefine "child" and "murder"

AI copies showing up when you search an artist.
This has been an issue since AI generators started to get popular but it's slowly getting harder to look up artist on google or look up references on pinterest.
Tumblr media
First example this is what happens when I search the artist Kelly McKernan. The first thing you see when you search her is this AI generated image that was created with her work, along with probably some others mixed in.
A bunch of people, including myself reported this too google. As it's misleading information on an artist.
If you look up an artist you want to see their work on the front page, not a AI generated image.
It was taken down for a short time BUT it came back today.
Another example:
Tumblr media
It's the same with big name artist too, like William Stout. The image above isn't his, It's an AI generated image that was created with his work.
Now if anyone saw this and knew nothing about these two artist they may assume that A. This is the person's work or B. this person is a AI "artist". Both misleading and incorrect but like I said not everyone knows these facts. Also some people can be verry gullible, as we learned from there being flat earthers.
As for the Pinterest issue, just look up popular things like "anime girl" or in this case "gothic architecture"
Tumblr media
6 of these I can tell are AI generated, which sucks on multiple levels. Including that they are useless as refs. The perspective is off and they all almost look alike.
What I'm trying to point out here is that AI generators are being used and praised far too much. To the point where it is effecting search engines.
You almost can't escape it, you will fine something AI generated everywhere. Heck even on my windows search bar is even asking people to generate an image.
Tumblr media
Just frustrating and sad, that we can't escape these things being everywhere.

"But the Bible says!" Well, that's great. You know what else is great? It shouldn't matter what the Bible says about abortion, or literally anything else, on a political spectrum. The United States is not a theocracy. If you don't believe me, read all 4,440 words of the Constitution. Take your time.

At the moment I’m zoning out all the bad stuff and just focusing on the silly goofy part of doctor who. Transphobia? I’ll deal with it later. Homophobia? Just give me a moment. Racism? I’m trying my best. I can’t deal with everything I’m one man trying to accomplish a lot and right now it’s a lot of pressure to make unicorns everything’s fucked up and I don’t like it but I don’t have much control and it’s all scary. Let me just enjoy something silly let me forget for just today please. Anyway just cried at the muppet Christmas carol, how are you guys?

I don't want to make this blog about politics or any current issues, but just saying, as a marine science student living in Asia who will most definitely be affected by the release of treated wastewater, I don't want to hear shit from people who are in zero proximity to this issue, especially not white American Tumblr users.
Stop calling us bitches for being scared for our lives. Yes, TEPCO has claimed that it's been properly treated way below the safe drinking levels, but we don't have enough research to 100% confirm that it's safe. Several fishermen's and marine scientists' associations have voiced their concern over this, and governmental bodies have lied or made oversights before.
No, it's not right to demonize Japan over this, especially as many of its citizens and most importantly its fishing communities have strongly opposed this action. But you will live your entire life completely unaffected by this. We will not. We don't have a choice.
We have a right to feel devastated. We have a right to be scared, to be concerned. Stop speaking over the people directly affected by this.

Things are really bad right now. but please don't stop fighting
no matter how bad things get, dont stop hoping dont stop loving dont stop believing, don't stop fighting
no matter how corrupt and hopeless the world seems, remember those who fight, those who stand up for what they believe and not what is safe, those who risk their lives in order to be themselves
no matter how difficult life gets, we go on. and we fight so that one day we can live.
take care of yourselves folks, drink water, eat, rest. and dont forget to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you

People who are attracted to power and tend to abuse it have important common ground with a man who abuses women. For example, a dictatorial boss is bound to encounter some occasions when an employee finally gets fed up enough to swear at her, stomp out of the office, and quit. A manager who coerces his female subordinates into sexual contact with him may get reported for sexual harassment sooner or later. The abuser of power feels outraged when his or her victims attempt to defend themselves in these ways and considers them to be the unreasonable or aggressive ones. So it is not surprising that such a person, when looking at a woman who is complaining of abuse by a man, might have the following thoughts: “This woman is another one of those people who likes the role of victim. I know what they’re like because I have to deal with them myself: They are never grateful no matter how much you do for them; they don’t know their place; and everything turns into an accusation of mistreatment.” The abuser of power thus may personalize the woman’s resistance to oppression and feel a strong desire to retaliate on behalf of the abusive man, and in fact I have often observed this disturbing eagerness among some professionals to jump on abused women with both feet. Their statements have sometimes confirmed to me that they do indeed have the kind of thought process I have just described—coupled of course with the usual myths regarding women’s hysterical exaggerations and their provocation of men’s abuse.
