While I’m on my art break, here’s some HCs about my lil listeners.

Sweetheart(Valentina)

- youngest sibling. But isn’t the “baby”. Has the youngest sibling syndrome of having to be the best like the oldest sibling

- was not a fan of cats until she met Aggro

- loves the chocolate cosmos flowers

Lovely (Yue)

- Speaks Mandarin

- Book smart and a smart ass

- likes to roast Sam verbally. They see him as a big brother and treats him like one.

FUN FACT! I based her off my lil sister personality wise :)

Angel (Evangeline)

- misses her cat sm, and has asked David if they can adopt a cat. More like the adopts the senior cats person (“they just need a comfy home davey 🥺”)

- could say the alphabet backwards/knows random useless knowledge.

- died her hair in high school and has stuck with that color ever since

Freelancer(Percy)

- obsessed with “Song of Achilles” and they got Lasko to read it. They both cried.

- hates sand. (Cue the whole Anakin Skywalker memes)

- can quote the whole Cars movie

Darlin (Ina)

- the scar on their nose is from trying to befriend a stray cat. They told everyone it was they got into a fight.

- likes socks. Specifically the fuzzy socks, but no one needs to know…

- a big closet Harry Potter fan and definitely tried to use a spell with their magic (Heh closet joke)

Honey (Amber)

- has an OF, BUT it’s all click bait. Sexy honey pics?? Oh no that’s just them with the cat meme with a knife face. Fans eat that shit up

- has bit Guy when he tickles them or gets too affectionate. Nom nom bitch

- allergic to mangoes

Babe (Cass)

- loves bugs. Like…obsessed. They were that kid that ran around the backyard barefoot to catch beetles

- likes longs skirts cause of the flowy look, and always wears a sweater.

- the sole reason there is a “no snacks at midnight” rule when it is pack hang outs. This gremlin will fight David for the last snack at 3 am

Sunshine (Solidad)

- has that thick curly hair that breaks 2 brushes a month

- played volleyball in high school. Kicks ass when Elliot and her friends play beach volleyball

- likes to hug Elliot from behind and hide her face in between his shoulder blades

Warden (Selene)

- Kept her given name when she’s on Elegy, but since I noticed the boys are named after constellations, she’s named after the Greek moon goddess

- definitely had that “is that not what you humans do?” like Starfire phase when she first came to Elegy

- loves the smell of Mint or Lavender

Petra (oc?)

- definitely had body confidence issues until her later years of D.A.M.N.

- hated Lasko at first, they just didn’t get along at first. Now she won’t shut up about how cute he is when he rambles

- does more plant work than anything with her earth powers. Into medicinal herb studies shit

This would be my second effort at putting out some artwork, DCAU-style. My DCAU rendition of Starfire is back, only this time she's not alone. Here we see her enjoying a walk with Dick Grayson, aka. Nightwing (obviously) as well as their daughter Mar'i, aka. Nightstar. For anyone unfamiliar with Nightstar's story, she was first introduced in DC's "Kingdom Come" mini-series (written by Mark Waid and illustrated by the legendary Alex Ross). She is revealed to be Dick Grayson and Starfire's daughter and eventually, becomes a member of the future Justice League. Of course, she's a grown woman by that time. Here, we only see her at the tender age of three, enjoying some happy time with her mommy and daddy. I became inspired to draw this picture, mostly when I made the decision to branch out into DCAU, especially in light of the JLU fanfic I wrote, "Point of View", which heavily implies in parts that Nightwing and Starfire do get together and stay together. The plan was also to draw more pics of Nightstar over time...maybe even a couple that show conclusively that even though she looks cute and harmless, she can prove to be quite the handful. I'll admit, the background isn't much to write home about. Frankly, I just kind of faked it so as to avoid it just being a blank nothing (a pic like this pretty much demands some kind of background). Of course, having said that, I doubt the background will be what everyone will be focusing on, anyway. Either way, I hope you all enjoy this pic and feel free to tell me what you think.

IM TRULY OBSESSED WITH UR COSPLAY!!! it deserves sm praise! i just saw some of ur pics on twitter and here and u put in so much work into all the costumes!!! a lot of the cosplays ive seen of starfire have been of her teen titans look (which is still super cute and i absolutely love them!) but u managed to get her comic look DOWN with the hair. i also just love that u also got ur s/o to cosplay red x lmfao just perfect!! im so excited to see ur other cosplays!! :3

im basing this on my completely fallible memory so ive surely got the more finer details wrong but i do think that im correct abt the overall idea, that despite the drastic visual changes of tt2003 starfire compared to her OG ntt designs, i think they still managed to maintain most of the core components of her original personality, mainly her deep love for others, her very passionate way of expressing this love, and of course, being the Token Foreigner.

they definitely played the Foreigner (Alien) trope up to 11, to a degree that many tt2003 critics find very annoying, which like, fair. its very zany and comical (love of mustard comes to mind), meanwhile theyve toned down her fiery/passionate personality by a bit, which led to some people saying that tt2003 has completely flanderized her. and while on a surface level it may seem true, i dont think it is entirely. tt2003 is an adaptation of her character after all, so yes they played up the foreigner aspect and toned down her more assertive traits, but i do think that theyve managed to have her still be essentially the same character at heart.

but in spite of all this, tt2003 still does deserve shit for starting the (still ongoing) trend of whitewashing starfire, or more specifically, making her racially ambigious. bc in tt2003 she does have that one(1) episode where shes actually experiencing racism so she is still very much a Girl of Disenfranchised Racial Identity, just not specifically black coded anymore. though more recent comics have gone way too crazy with this and sometimes she just looks like a tanned white girl which is like... 🤮

so much to say about starfire. like although it couldve been done without the whitewashing, i do think that her design is great for the show*, just like how donna troy's design was adapted, starfire's design is still very much inspired by her ntt design but was adapted just enough to be more age-appropriate, clean and impactful, and more readable as an animated character, but the fact that it continues to inspire how she looks in non-animated properties is like.... eh? stop that. but tbh from what ive heard at least, it doesnt seem like starfire has gotten any good writing after tt2003, so its sadly not super suprising that theyve gotten too lazy to give her a better design either (her injustice 2 design is the best recent one i can think of)

*although i like her design i can recognize that theyve essentially made her into a 'Generic' Anime Girl, which while very cute! it does take away quite an amount of charm that her original design had. (her beautiful voluminous hair was very reflective of her character). and whether whitewashing was the intention or not, the simplification of her character design (most glaringly, making her hair thin and straight) was most likely done in order to make her easier to animate, bc as pretty as she look with voluminous big hair even in tt2003's artstyle, it wouldve not hv been practical to animate for 5 whole seasons.

tho making her more practical to animate doesnt entirely justify the other design choices done to her character (alien eyebrows, thin nose, no lips**) and theres definitely ways they couldve still have starfire to be practical to animate while not entirely converting her into a Racially Ambiguous Anime Girl (which im currently making an edit of, and will post later :3c)

**also interestingly, while the show does have starfire be an anime girl in all her anime girl glory (aka no lip, though sometimes she'll get a small bottom lip if the shot calls for it), in the comics she does tend to have a lip

...sometimes. todd nauck is the main artist for the comics (these 3 starfire lips pics are by nauck) and starfire always has a lip when drawn by him (except pre-issue #7, when hes still getting used to tt2003's artstyle), but guest artists are plentiful and when its up to them, its a "sometimes they do, sometimes they don't" deal on whether or not starfire still gets her lip or not. though it tends to often fall on the 'no lip' side.

i wanted to post both of these in the same post just because ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

at first, i planned to draw joe and BK earlier this month, but i ultimately decided to wait until a bit later so that i’d be more familiar with them in AH content. i also did it because i wanted to fit little jokes and references in their minecraft designs.

so, joe’s mc skin is pikachu from the pokémon franchise:

i could’ve just drawn him in a pikachu onesie, but like the fool i am, i wanted to give myself a challenge. i haven’t played a pokémon game nor watched any of the anime series a day in my life, so i looked up pikachu images on google and just winged it. i picked the ultra ball because it went with the color scheme, and the bolts on the shoes are just the symbol for electric-type pokémon:

a more obscure reference i added is the color of the sneakers. i took the orange from shiny pikachu and just turned down the saturation.

and an ever more obscure reference is that i based the soles of the shoes off of clemont from gen 6:

pretty much everything else (like the cross necklace and the earrings) is just stuff i see joe wear in videos and streams, and the LG logo on his shirt is his twitch icon :)

BK’s skin is blackfire from the 2003 teen titans series:

i’m way more familiar with teen titans than pokémon, and blackfire was my favorite side character growing up. when i was looking for pics to save for reference, i saw that BK has cosplayed her in the past, and i was so ecstatic! i took the choker from this picture because i thought it’d look good with the outift:

and i kept her natural curly hair because i just think it’s cute.

i mixed 2003 blackfire’s design with 1980s blackfire’s design from the original comics:

i really liked the cape and the earrings. i made the cape shorter and changed the palette a bit, and because i didn’t know enough comic lore to know what the creature on blackfire’s earrings was:

i just made it one of the little alien dudes from space invaders:

other than all of that, i tried to keep the palette from 2003 blackfire’s design as close as possible. i had to change the purple of the clothing, shoes, and hair because it was too close to the shade of purple i use for lineart:

the stars on the gauntlets and the fishnet stockings are there simply because i thought they’d look cool, and the nose ring is there is because BK has one in real life. i made it pink so that it’d match the earrings :D

and finally, the background colors i picked for joe and BK’s art are direct references to the intro of pokémon yellow and starfire’s hair color, respectively:

Well, here we are, the third pic in my ongoing quest to add DCAU-style to my repertoire. I did promise an older picture of Mar'i Grayson, aka. Nightstar (Nightwing and Starfire's future daughter, first introduced in the "Kingdom Come" mini-series) and here it is. As you can see, Mar'i looks a lot different than the first time I drew her. In my last pic, I drew her at only three years old, using Starfire's character designs from the Teen Titans animated series as a template, so as to make her look extra cute. Now that's she's grown up in this pic, you can see that she's developed a lot more of her mother's physical attributes (not mention, her notions of modesty). Anyway, I hope you all like this addition. As always, any comments are greatly appreciated.

1. Robin from Teen Titans

I adore Teen Titans, I still do. I will never shut up about this show and how great it is and how whipped I am for Robin. LOLOL. He may be stubborn and overly serious, but he’s also really sweet and caring and is a great leader. Ugh, I love him and Starfire so much and I’m glad they’re together.

2. Takuto Kira (Full Moon Wo Sagashite)

EVERYONE HUSH AND LISTEN BECAUSE THIS BOY IS REALLY WAS THE LOML AND STILL IS. OH MY GODDDDDDDDD. From my favorite anime ever, Takuto is this sensitive boy who gets irritated when you do something dumb b/c he cares so much and he is so precious, can sing, protect, be silly, he really is the perfect package bye. The manga will make you cry, the anime will make you bawl, but please watch it, okay? Okay.

3. Freddie Benson (iCarly)

Nathan Kress played Freddie so well in this show. I love iCarly and though I didn’t have cable, I would try to watch as much of it as I could at my bff’s house and then later online. Freddie’s literally such a cute dork, he really is my type of guy. LOL.

4. Malcolm (Malcolm in the Middle)

Frankie Muniz spent years acting on this show and it’s sad he doesn’t remember much of it, but I will always remember! This show was so hilarious and chaotic, I still watch it when I need something in the background. I probably can quote most episodes. Lol. Malcolm had his faults, but he really grew as a character. He’s a genius with a hard life, complains most of the time, and is self-absorbed yet I still crushed on him so hard. Hehe.

5. Takumi Usui (Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama)

AHDKLFDJLKFSDLK my childhood heart is throbbing!!! Usui!!! You’re such a massive tease ahdskldjlkf. I highly recommend this anime, it’s really short (only 20 episodes I think). And you’ll definitely fall for him, no one can resist his charm. I laughed so much while watching this. Lol.

Hmm... would anyone mind if I put my thoughts of that earlier-mentioned idea that I can’t get out of my head, out here instead of just into a never-to-be-posted-draft?

Well, I mean, it’s about an OC concept, and it’s still munday, so I’m just gonna say it’s part of that and post it. below the cut, as usual.

This is made with an avatar creator of rinmarugames, another look-ref would be Hijin of Innocent Venus, though the FC there is no perfect fit either as I’d still have to edit the usual (skin, eyes, hair), and the clothes too and Hijin feels a bit too old too.

Her name would be Kahmlur, which basically means ‘scent of fight/ing’, if she would pick something else for easier earthen pronounciation it’d be Fi (speak like the “fi” from “fight”). She’s a pretty default tamaranean, with strong fighting-spirit and sometimes rather stubborn. Daughter of one of the highest advisors that had been at Myand’r’s side, she sees it ‘only fitting’ that she has to be Wildfire’s (advisor, bodyguard, more, she doesn’t specify what exactly she means), now that Tamaran knows that he still lives.

She thinks Wildfire is cute - weak and weird, but cute - and laughs a lot and claims that she will manage to make him ‘proper’. Treats him nothing like a king, more like a little kid or a pet or sth, but means it all in an endearing way, probably. Doesn’t hesitate to call him out on his weird or un-Tamaranean thoughts or behaviors. Often comes up to him when he’s outside. Doesn’t downright stalk him, but seemingly has her ways to always find him when he isn’t in a building where she can’t just like that enter, like with friends or sth.

She’s proud of her strength, more of a buff figure than Starfire and Blackfire, also curious about earthen things but not really intending to adapt to them. Her voice is somewhat darkish, often laughing, female, strong - I haven’t come across a good voice claim I could share here, sorry. The hair at the back isn’t a bun, but a very puffy ponytail. She doesn’t wear the so common tamaranean collar/gorget, there’s only a small silver band above the neck-covering part of her top on which the gem is located.

This isn’t really as detailed information about her as I would have it if I’d actually plan on keeping her (or making her a blog even), but hopefully this is enough to get me away from thinking through her more and more.

I kinda feel like this idea is giving Wildfire an equivalent of Moonshot for Starfire, even though it isn’t entirely the same; and I also feel like I have enough characters going on already, so I doubt I’m actually going to keep/make her, but yeah. Maybe I got this out of my mind now.

As an edit, here’s a pic I edited a little later than when this post had been made.

It’s not exactly good quality, but it was the only one I could get through a quick google search of the abovementioned FC, so yeah.
