i am obsessed with ruby supernatural as being one of the most unwaveringly devout characters on the show. so many angels and demons act in their own self-interest, disillusioned by god or lucifer or archangels or the entire structure of the afterlife. fine. but RUBY?!? a human. a witch. sells her soul. dedicates her life to lucifer. in death she is tortured and molded and shaped into a demon. and yet she still worships. she is recruited into the ultimate satanic plan, cast as the delilah of the apocalypse. she spends multiple years publicly siding with the beloathed winchesters, being seen as a traitor to her kind. being hunted. being tortured repeatedly at the hands of her brethren for treason. painstakingly slowly seducing sam, convincing sam. luring sam to enact the plan. she lets sam drink her blood. so much blood. she is the sacrificial lamb. she is the best of those sons of bitches. all to be killed. and she knows this. she has to have known this. and she doesn't care. she's done it, the holy work. incredible character.

Literally Meg is SO compelling to me. The concept of demons in this show is soooo so miserably sad.

Someone makes a little deal in a moment of weakness and they have one hundred thousand million years of torment for it. They're twisted around by pain. And they will never get untwisted. It's live with the guilt of all they've been made to do or die. And die and die and die.

Meg has ONE guy trust her while he's unwell and she's making moves to try and get out of the game. Crowley has ONE summer of love and he's desperate to regrow a soul. They have no friends. They have no chances. It's Hell for them too.

samdean having the same blood type is so important to me like icb we never saw them giving each other blood transfusions.

it would’ve been john’s idea at first… sam gets a serious injury on one of his first hunts and he’s losing blood but they’re in the woods and john— calm, ignoring the obvious horror and self-blame on dean’s face— orders dean to the car, go get the first aid kit. dean’s out of breath when he gets back, silently taking over putting pressure on sam’s wound, entire focus on keeping him awake, you’re okay sammy, just look at me. he barely takes notice of john until he’s pulling dean’s left hand off sam, pushing up his sleeve. dean doesn’t even glance at him until he feels something stick in his forearm. that’s when he looks, seeing plastic tubing and needles. he makes brief eye contact with his father, understanding despite never going to a doctor before, and turns back to sam. sam barely reacts to the needle in his arm, just a weak flutter of eyelids, and dean sits there in shock until john smacks him on the side of the head, ordering him to stand up. dean obeys, already a good soldier at 17. he stands over sam like a guardian angel, watching his blood travel down the tube into sam’s veins as john sews the hole in his abdomen shut.

john knows from looking at him that he must be lightheaded, but dean still insists on helping sammy back to the car, sticking close to him like he’ll die if he lets go.

both boys in the backseat, pale from blood loss, but alive. sam’s head is on dean’s shoulder, and deans arm is around him, blood-stained fingers dragging up and down his arm slowly, soothing.

john doesn’t even argue about them sharing a bed that night; he’s too tired. dean refuses to leave sam’s side for a moment, washing the blood and grime off sam’s face, hands and stomach without doing the same for himself. they fall asleep with sam’s face almost against dean’s chest and dean’s arms tight around him, feeling him breathing.

once they know they can, they do it a lot. dean offering when it’s really not necessary, and sam letting him, both pretending they don’t just enjoy sharing everything about themselves.

and Maybe when they get a drop of blood on their hands they just lick it off instead of dirtying their clothes and Maybe that’s where sam got his taste for blood from but who am i to say

season 4 is the start of the "dean is always right" trend. like god, how much more interesting would it have been if ruby was being genuine the whole time? she legitimately wanted to stop the apocalypse, legitimately thought killing lilith was the only way to do it. how much crazier would lucifer rising be if everyone is shocked by what happens? if ruby survives and she and sam have to deal, together, with inadvertently causing the apocalypse? what do you even do in that scenario, when it turns out you were the rube and the lynchpin for hell's plans all at once? it would be interesting! and it would make sam and dean way more balanced -- dean is right that what sam is doing is bad, but sam's judgment about ruby is ultimately correct, and she continues to help them. it would be so much juicer than sam just being wrong about everything and dean knew the right path the whole time

#caveat to the last. i don't think sam was wrong for the demon blood thing. #he was screwed over by the narrative and fate #anyways. as i type this i worry i've stolen this idea #if i took it from anyone it would be b autisticandroids ruby posting. but i can't remember if they said something like this or not
