Apparently no Eastern European was included in either cast or crew in what is a production about real-life figures and historic events in an Eastern European country. On occasion, there may be a justified artistic reason to “Briticise” foreign settings and characters, but the fact that this happens in virtually every single UK production outside fringe theatre continues the complete exclusion of a huge part of the UK population from British theatre (10M people or 15% in the UK are foreign-born, 37% or more than 1 in 3 in London). I think that, like all fandoms, it has its problems. I think it’s inevitable that there’s ~drama~ in this fandom, just like any fandom. There are people who don’t like each other. There are people who perpetuate drama and antagonize the other side instead of just letting the drama die. But I think that’s the case in any fandom, especially in any fandom as large as the SW fandom.

For the most part, though, I have been very happy in the SW fandom. I have found some lovely friends, and I have found some incredibly talented writing partners. I am constantly in awe of the breadth of knowledge that so many people have -- about their muses, about their preferred section of the universe, etc. I have found many, many wonderful writers who inspire me, and I think that’s wonderful.

Is the fandom perfect? No. But is it terrible? No.
