Do you think you'd have been more fond of the BE class members if Tru Piss had been the last route you played instead of the first?
Mmh...
I don't think so.
While the student cast sorts of bore me, I think playing SS then Tru Piss wouldn't have changed a thing, the BESF's reactions to Flamey is underwhelming, there's no mention of taking responsibility for what Adrestia did and still does during the war, and the characters are still painfully tone deaf to the current situation (Baldo'n'Waldi who ?).
Fe8's Cormag and, in general, Grado people, feel more connected to the main conflict in their game than the BESF, the literal scions of the ones who are supposed to run the show. There's no added knowledge/elements added because the BESF were once part of the Empire (and still part of it for the majority of the timeskip, sans Ferdie'n'Caspar ?). We have no prison break chapter (like the one of Fe5) or no paralogue where the cast destroys the Baldo'n'Waldi factory (sure, it wasn't the reason why the cast went to Gritnea in FE9, but by getting rid of izuka there are no more feral ones in the war).
The BESF is a disappointment in SS, and Tru Piss still, well, pisses on WC and Flamey's involvment with the war, so the between the two, while I prefer them as they are in Tru Piss, they're still, imo, a meh cast.
Sure, blame it on the game and its reheashed chapters through each route, but the feeling would have been stronger if the BESF, let it be Tru Piss or SS, were the last class I played with.
