Chrome Plated Heart

It's here! My first-bidder auction winners in the Marvel Trumps Hate 2022 auction graciously allowed me to put their (35k and counting) fic on hold so I could write my second-bidder auction, and here it is -- a Marvel Pacific Rim AU featuring Winterhawk! I've posted the prologue and chapter 1 together, and will be updating one chapter per week until I post the last chapter and epilogue together. Enjoy!

“Hey.” Steve nudges Bucky’s shoulder and tilts his head toward the door of the canteen. “New blood.”

Riley and Sam turn all the way around to look, not in the least bit subtle as the newcomers follow Coulson in and grab trays.

They are an odd match to be drift compatible — the man as tall and broad-shouldered as the woman is small and slender. Similar in age, so probably siblings or romantic partners. Or just new recruits from the Pan Pacific Defense Corps, maybe. There’s not a jaeger in the assembly line anywhere near to done, but having a backup team on hand is never a bad idea with how high the casualty count has been lately. Fewer minutes on the war clock after every event, and he heard Pietro Maximoff took a hard hit in Scarlet Sentry the other day — enough to put him out of commission for at least a few weeks.

“Interesting,” Steve says. “They could almost pass for —” He stops, the forkful of macaroni arrested halfway to his mouth. “Holy geez,” he says reverently. “That’s —”

“Lucky Striker,” Bucky finishes. “Sonuvabitch!”

Romanoff and Barton. They’re legends, the very first team to establish a neural handshake once Stark nearly blew out his heart trying to pilot a jaeger alone and realized it only works with a shared neural and physical load.

They have more kills than any other team out there. Hong Kong, Vladivostok, Lima — Lucky Striker has held the line at almost every ‘dome on the rim. Steve and Bucky have pored over the footage of every single one of their kills, marveling at the way their jaeger moves. Fluid, seamless, graceful. And most of all, of course, deadly.

“Think they’re just visiting or they’re here to fight?” Steve asks.

“Either way, we’ll probably at least get to see them in the kwoon,” Riley drawls. “Shee-it, won’t that be sweet? Whaddaya think they’ll use? Staffs? Nunchaku? Or just hand-to-hand?”

“Whatever it is, it’s gonna be fuckin’ beautiful,” Bucky says.

He can’t take his eyes off of Barton. In the recruitment posters and news clips he’s handsome, sure — tall and blond with an easy smile. In person though, he’s not nearly as polished. His hair is all mussed up like he just tumbled out of bed, his faded t-shirt has a hole near the collar, and he’s got about four days’ worth of stubble shadowing his jaw. There are bright purple hearing aids looped behind each ear, a Wonder Woman bandaid across the bridge of his nose, and a scrape along his cheekbone. Bucky thinks this scuffed up and scruffy version of Barton is about a million times more appealing than the airbrushed PanPac posterboy.

As Bucky watches, Barton reaches out to snag a piece of lemon meringue pie. He puts his thumb right into it as he tries to fit it onto his already-full tray.

“Aw, pie, no,” Bucky hears him say mournfully over the background hum of conversation. He balances the overfull tray on one forearm, bicep threatening to split the seams of that threadbare t-shirt, and sticks his thumb in his mouth, sucking off the smudge of lemon and meringue.

Bucky feels his heart stutter as he watches that thumb going into Barton’s lush mouth and coming back out, leaving both it and Barton’s lips pink and wet and shiny. “Fuckin’ beautiful,” he breathes.

An Unfortunate Incident (Regarding Dragons and Hoarding Behaviours)

Rated: General audiences Fandom: Marvel Relationship: WinterHawk Tags: Dragon Clint, Fluff, Bucky Barnes is So Done, Idiots in Love, Established Relationship. Words: 577 Betas: @o-kaythislooksbad and @blubblesandink - Thank you both so much for the help! Y'all are great 💛 Summary:

Clint is a dragon. Bucky is so done with his boyfriend's hoarding instincts (but still very much in love with him). They're both disasters.

Wherein Clint hides on the roof with his stolen hoard of coffee mugs, and Bucky has to make him put them back so he can wash them. (But they're still idiots in love.)

Bucky looks up at the roof from where he's standing on his lawn and sighs deeply.

"Clint," he calls, resignation clear in his tone, "I know you can hear me."

A long, serpentine head peeks over the edge of the roof and somehow, despite not having facial features conducive to, you know, making expressions, manages to scowl at him.

"Clint!"

A whine, and then silence.

Bucky rolls his eyes, somehow managing not to facepalm.

"Clinton Francis Barton, get down here right now before I skin you and turn your scales into a necklace for my sister."

Bucky pauses, listens, and then rolls his eyes again at the conspicuous lack of noise and-or motion from the roof.

"Now, Clint."

There's a whoosh of air and then Bucky looks up and sees his blond idiot boyfriend standing in front of him — in his human skin now, thankfully - smiling sheepishly.

Bucky glares.

Clint pouts.

"Give it." Bucky's voice is firm.

"Aw, Bucky!" Clint whines.

"No. Give it," Bucky says again, leaving no room for argument.

Clint pouts but eventually rolls his eyes and acquiesces.

He reaches into a place that isn't really a place so much as a pocket-fold of space, and pulls out what Bucky had chased him out here for in the first place, with a little pop as reality shifts to accommodate Clint.

He drops the collection in front of Bucky, careful not to break any, visibly grumpy, and despite himself Bucky feels the corner of his mouth twitching up into a smile.

"Come on, babe," he says, warm affection bleeding through the exasperation. He shakes his head in bewilderment. "All of our coffee mugs? Really? Again?"

"I wanted them!" Clint protests in indignation. "They were so pretty..." he trails off, pouting. Bucky knows they've had this conversation multiple times before, but he also knows that they're going to have this conversation many times in the future as well - it was just his luck that he'd fallen in love with a coffee-addicted, mug-hoarding, dumbass dragon.

"You're such a disaster, babe," he says drily, smirking at his boyfriend's pout. "Go take them inside so I can wash them, and then I'll order pizza for dinner. And yes," he adds, foreseeing Clint's question with the ease of long practice, "I'll make sure to get enough for Lucky."

"Oh hell yeah!" Clint cheers and runs into the house with his collection in his arms, looking more graceful than a man that gawky has any right to be.

Immediately after the door closes, there's a loud crash from inside.

A pause.

"Nobody died!" Clint's yell comes from inside the house, sounding chagrined even without Bucky there to give him a look of exasperated disbelief at whatever mess he'd managed to make this time. At this point, Bucky can't even be surprised that his boyfriend has managed to cause a household catastrophe in the five or so seconds he'd been in the house without him.

Bucky sighs and shakes his head. "I don't know what he'd do without me," he says to no one in particular, turning his head up to the sky to look at the stars for a second. He pauses, and smiles softly, warmth suffusing his heart.

"But then again," he says, "I don't know what I'd do without him. Disaster he may be, but at least he's mine."

He smiles again and turns to head back inside. There are worse things to spend his life doing.

PoliZ’s WIP Update - 11 Oct 2023

A less-than average week as Real Life took center stage. I touched 3 fics (2 WIPs & 1 new works) for a total of 1954 words.

I have 18 semi-active WIPs 😬 with my current deadlines being the Sam Wilson Bingo that wraps on Oct 15, the Halloween Horror Bingo and the the Fictober/ Flufftober/ Whumptober prompt challenges that all wrap at the end of the month.

See below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc. As always, feel free to send me prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding any of these projects or any other WIPs I’ve got out there. Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Seek & Destroy Collab

After reading @psychiccatpanda‘s amazing Morguna and the Green Queen, I got the itch to explore the Soldier’s POV and talked Faustie into collab’ing with me! We’re working on a new part of the series, and I’ve contributed about 900 words towards the 2500-ish we have so far. Going to see if I can squeeze any of my BBB squares into this fic.

Sam Wilson Bingo [SWB_R3] (Ends 15 Oct 2023)

I have eight fills and zero WIPs - targeting a Column G bingo and perhaps one more fill before the bingo wraps up.

* B4 - Natasha Romanoff - Maybe add on to my Card Sharks drabble, where SamNat & Steve conspire to create a polycule with Bucky? This idea crosses over nicely with my BBB KINK: Seduction mission square and maybe I can squish a Fictober or Flufftober prompt in here.

* G2 - Teacher/Teacher AU - Posted Lessons Learned on Monday - a No Powers AU FalconHawk meet (mostly) cute ficlet that crossed over with Flufftober Day 9 “: "I wouldn't do that if I were you.” and came in at 414 words.

* G4 - Adopting a Pet - posted a moodboard for this where Joaquin brings a stray cat home and Sam and Bucky (pretend to) disapprove. Shout out to @hannahshattuck3121 for the assist on the Joaquin pics!

Halloween Horror Bingo - [HHB_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

Just signed up for this event, hosted by @halloweenhorrorbingo. After picking three horror films, you get a 3x3 card (with 3 alternates) with prompts based on those films.

* B1 - Dealing with Extreme Cold - seems like a good match with my BBB Cold and or SVB Last Resort square along with Whumptober: Thermometer & Fictober "It's not too late, let's go."

* ALT1 - There’s something under the bed - Finished up A Hairy Situation - WinterHawk Werewolf AU that’s coming in at a nice, round 2200 words and crosses over with my BBB "This might as well happen" square. Targeting to post on Friday the 13th. 😁

Fictober/Flufftober/Whumptober - [FFWtober_23] (Ends 31 Oct 2023)

I’m lumping these three prompt challenges together as I plan on mixing and matching with a goal of using at least four prompts from each list by the end of the month for a total of 12 prompts. I’m a little behind at only three used so far, but we’ll see what the rest of the month brings!

* Whumptober Day 2: Thermometer see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

* Fictober Day 3: "Okay, show me." see SWB Joaquin Torres above.

* Flufftober Day 6. Corn Maze - posted An A-maze-ing Afternoon Together (fluffy IronStrange established relationship ficlet) on Friday. It crossed over with my TSB Tony/Stephen square and came in at 451 words.

* Fictober Day 9: "I wouldn't do that if I were you." See SWB Teacher/Teacher AU.

* Fictober Day 12: "I'm not saying I didn't like it." Wrote up a short Chapter 2 to Caught By the Rain and Blinded by the Lightning as a crossover with my TSB Pairing: Tony/Thor square. It came in at 567 words and will post on Thursday.

* Fictober Day 24: [melting emoji] - combine with TSB "Get back in bed!" Tony has a fever and won’t listen to his partner. Maybe throw in a little Whumptober too?

* Fictober Day 27: "I don't know if they will accept this." - This could be a fun combo with TSB T2 - KINK: Cock-blocking 'bots.

WinterIron Bingo - [WIB_R1] (Ends 16 Dec 2023)

I have sixteen fills completed and two WIPs for this brand-new bingo event that I’m helping mod! Along with crossfilling against my other bingos, I’m going to try to combine my B column squares for the Iron Soldier badge (complete a bingo with a single work). – Alpha Tony Stark, “That was not my intention.”, James Rhodes, Alpine loves Tony and Blind date. (Tony POV remix of A Sugar Coated Pill?)

* N1 - Bucharest – I think I can fold this into a future chapter of My Love is Vengeance - where a young!Tony and a recovering!Bucky have been kidnapped by Hydra, who still thinks Bucky is the Soldier.

* G2 - Eye contact during sex - This will come into play in Chapter 6 of A Sugar-Coated Pill, where Bucky figures out what making love really means, with Tony’s help. It’s crossing over with BBB KINK: Gentle Sex and is up to 830 words.

* G4 - AU: College Students – looking to expand Beaten to the Punch with some backstory on Bucky and Tony as science camp counselors to fit with this square - will also cross over with my WFB Volunteering Together square.

* O5 - Gentle – use this poem as inspiration?

Stucky’Verse Bingo Round 1 - [SVB_R1] (Ends 22 Dec)

Eleven fills, two WIPs and a couple of ideas.

* A1 - Harem - crossover with CABB Secret/Forbidden Relationship - Bucky and shrimpy!Steve are both concubines - they love each other more than their lord. I poked at this a little for 71 words.

* A4 - Fairy Tale Curse - this seems custom-made for a continuation of Beyond the Beast😁 Nothing written yet, other than some Vague Ideas.

* C3 - FREE - Need to find a good match for Chapter 2 of Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole - a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right), which is current sitting at 52 words. I’m expecting at least one more chapter, possibly two, depending on how far I want to take the remix.

* C5 - Last Resort - see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

Bucky Barnes Bingo - [BBB_R5] (Ends 10 Jan 2024)

I’ve got eleven fills, four WIPs, and a couple more Vague ideas.

* B2 - KINK: Seduction Mission - might add a new chapter to Card Sharks - where Sam/Natasha and Steve finish what they started to get Bucky onboard for a poly partnership.

* B5 - Cold - see HHB Dealing with Extreme Cold

* U1 - Never the fall that kills you - I’ve got a WinterIron hanahaki fic idea for this that I might play with or check against Whumptober prompts

* U3 - Fireplace - Working on a 1980′s No Powers WinterIron fic set at a ski lodge where Tony’s being wooed by poetry and love letters that Bucky wrote to someone else. Started poking at this as a crossover with a Love Letters prompt and it’s sitting at 129 words.

* C2 - Yelena Belova– The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik, (aka Three Avengers and a Baby), which is currently sitting at 1303 words (600-ish of which are mine).

* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple - next chapter of Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion. Got a spark of an idea the other day that might get me a bit further on this fic.

* K3 - Magic - Aro!Bucky healing with a kiss idea?

* Y1 - Gentle Sex – In-progress Chapter 6 of Sugar-Coated Pill- see WIB Eye Contact During Sex.

* Y3 - Alpine - see WIB Iron Soldier combo.

* Y4 - Forgotten Things - using this for Chapter 4 of You Can’t Stop It With a Gun - it’s sitting at 116 words at the moment.

* Y5 - "This might as well happen" - see HHB Alt1

* May Adopted - Insomnia - finally got this filled with The Dead of Night, which also filled a Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF211 An Old Friend] along with my JBB FREE square. It came in at 317 words and will post to Ao3 before this event ends.

* August Adopted: Take the Shot - sounds like a WinterHawk fic to me… maybe cross over with JBB Touch-starved? Whumptober/Fictober possibilities as well.

Tony Stark Bingo Round 7 - [TSB_R7] (ends 15 Feb)

I posted NamNori on Tumblr and have a general idea of how I want to build on it to also fill my SAUB AU: Crack square. It’s currently sitting at 360 words.

I signed up for a 3x3 card for this bingo and have four fills, one WIPs and a couple of crossover ideas.

Post July Break Bingo [JBB_23p] (Ends Apr 2024)

@julybreakbingo is running another event to tide participants over with a 2x3 non-fandom-specific card - I got mine earlier this week and am checking it over for potential crossovers.

* A1 - “It’s you. It’s always been you.” - This might fit in with my TSB Doppelgangers/Evil Twins fill NamNori above :: ponders::

* B1 - Ask the neighbor if they know why your apartment is haunted - I gotta do something with this for Spooky Month - maybe combine with TSB Old Ghosts or something off my HHB card :: ponders::

* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on BBB or WIB (or even SVB)

* C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint) possibly crossover with BBB Take the shot?

Warm and Fluffy Bingo - [WFB] (no end date)

I got my card from @warmandfluffybingocards back in February but really haven’t done much with it - however, I’m picking it back up for some crossover possibilities!

wrap your roots all around my bones - Clint & Steve road trip fic featuring spooky-adjacent Clint, trips through memory lane for both characters, and Steve on a horse!

couple of Clint/Bucky oneshots for my Winterhawk Bingo squares stealing a quinjet together and fifty years of friendship

Hope - high school/found family/Percy Jackson AU mostly featuring Bucky and Clint, also including Steve and Natasha (and eventually Sam). on-going series.

With the complex relationship the Avengers have with the US Military, Bucky’s canon backstory, and Clint’s perfect accuracy, it only makes sense that winterhawk is filled with military AUs and canon divergent fics! In addition, the WH classic tropes of trauma recovery and figuring out the answer to the question of “Am I more than just a weapon?” align perfectly for a conflicted, nightmare-riddled veteran. 4. Why was Clint a skeleton for Halloween?

A: Because he’s made of bone and marrow!

“I’m an archer,” Clint slurs, gesturing at the x-rays taped above his bed in the med-bay. “You can tell.”

Bucky grabs his hand, pulling it down gently to his side before he can do any more damage. Clint watches the movement in amazement, wonder in his eyes. Bucky strokes his thumb across Clint’s knuckles. “How can I tell that you’re an archer, sweetheart?”

“Sweet-heart,” Clint drawls, drawing out the endearment to two words, eyes focused on Bucky’s. He pauses, and Bucky lifts his eyebrows to prompt him. “Oh, no,” Clint says, shaking his head in an exaggerated side-to-side motion. “No heart. That’s not part of the joke.”

Bucky feels his eyes narrow, even as his lips fight to rise. “No? Tell me what’s part of the joke, then.”

Clint frowns deeply. “Bucky, don’t you know anything? You don’t tell people what makes the joke funny or else that — that — defeats the purpose. That makes it not funny.” He looks down at their joined hands, studying the cast encasing his forearm. “Hey, I broke my arm.”

Bucky shifts his gaze to Natasha, sitting on the other side of Clint’s bed. He’s pretty sure Clint had forgotten she was in the room as soon as he looked away from her. The amusement in her gaze matches his own. He looks back at Clint, nodding in confirmation. “You did. And about half of your ribs because you’re a dumbass who never thinks twice before diving off falling buildings.”

The gentle, if familiar, reprimand goes right over Clint’s head. “I’ve had broken ribs before,” he says, petulant, then blinks, a dorky grin creeping onto his face like he's trying to be sneaky, but missing by a mile. “Hey, I got a joke about this.”

“Oh yeah? Why don’t you tell me?” From the corner of Bucky’s eye, he sees Natasha raise a hand to her mouth to stifle her laugh at Clint’s —what is this, fourth? — attempt to start the same joke. Goddamn, but the guy is hilarious on his post-surgery meds.

“Okay,” Clint says, nodding fiercely. “Do you know how I know I’m an archer skeleton?”

Bucky tries to keep a straight face, really; he does. “No. Tell me.”

“Cause I’m made of bone and marrow!” Clint exclaims, flinging his unbroken arm up towards the x-rays. “Bone,” he repeats, eyes huge and excited, “and marrow! Like — ” he moves the extended arm back towards his head in something vaguely like drawing an arrow while attempting to jerk his casted hand up to complete the bow mime. “Pew pew!”

“I get it,” Bucky chuckles, his smile entirely unfeigned. “That’s so funny, sweetheart.”

At Clint’s side, Natasha’s head is in her hands, her shoulders shaking. A snort breaks free, and Clint whips his head around. “Nat!” he cries, “Nat, my bones and marrow are broken!”

Bucky grins as Clint launches into attempting to tell the same joke. Damn, Tony is gonna be pissed that Nat drew the long straw to be in the room this time. Hopped up Hawkeye: everyone’s favorite post-battle entertainment.

oh, okay. hello. i guess to preface this; these are my opinions, partly formed from hcs and rps, fanfic, personal thoughts, fun ideas.

and like i mean. most of these i would write. i love to pre-establish / plot ooc before i ship in rp normally

im gonna preface this ask as romantic ships

CLINT BARTON -> i have a dozen of these way more and its hard to do a top 5, like there are so many things i ship with clint, like so many (and so many non canon ships; actually their are probbaly non cnaon ship i ship way more than clintasha but ssshh)

Hawkingbird (Bobbi M. + Clint) -> that's my heart and soul right here, barbie and ken of marvel, number one, would kill for

Ironhawk (Tony S. + Clint) -> look look this is my second most shipped thing, and like oh man the thread w/ mts giving me brainrot about them

Winterhawk (Bucky B. + Clint) -> they just make me giggle in recent canon, but even back in CW1, while there wasn't a lot; there is something to be said about the two "trained by captain amercia" boys, and candidates to be the next cap boys (yes clint was in the running for that)

Spiderhawk (Jessica D. + Clint) -> hear me out, they were very cute, they had a lot of fun together; there was real potential; jess just happened at a huge transitional period for clint, and like than he goes and cheats, can't communicate, but like they really are cute and they brought out the fun in each other

Clintasha (Natasha R. + Clint) -> look i love that, clint will always love and be in love w/ natasha; they aren't my highest rated ship, actually im mentioning them here to put out; that like she is his best friend, and i really love them platonically like oh boy i could go on about that ( but i do ship them romantically too just not as much as platonic ) also natasha is always the one he ends up trying for chance and chance again with her

HONORABLE MENTION -> WinterWidowHawkingbird -> Okay, but Bobbi, Bucky, Natasha, and Clint polycule/foursome/OT4 for real. it combines all the good ships. anytime these four appear on panel together? I go wild. also Clint and the Superspies, should be their band name. // spiderhawk, peter + clint, they are both disasters and we love it // clint + wanda, god he has such a big crush on her and just that's a best friend, they have being the first gen of new avengers together // deadpool and clint, i kill for wade and clint ship, cause just ask me later i love these two // bruce and clint, an factor in civil war 2, but also the amount of times clint specifically has either shot bruce to save him or shot bruce cause he asked is more than a few times. but yee. hulkeye good ship. // steve and clint is a ship i could go off about // and so many more

PEPPER POTTS -> oh boy pepper ships are a special something, because pepper is special to me you see

Happy Hogan + Pepper -> THIS RIGHT HERE. THE MOST IMPORTANT SHIP. Loves of each other's lives. The one. Soulmates. Love at First Fight. That's Pepper's two times husband. That's her ex-pug! My heart aches for Pepper that he's been dead in-universe timeline for probably longer than they were married; i have many headcanons about pepper and happy, especially in terms of my pepper; and just them. the iron family babes. tony's married friends. and just I would weep for comic/616 happy to write ahh

Pepperony (Tony S. + Pepper) -> look they may have never dated, or done more than kiss and sleep together like once or twice in 616/comic canon; whereas mcu did put them romantically which could have been done so much better (but i like the concept). NOW I love them Platonically. SO MUCH. They are best friends, and I have a lot of hcs about them just based in platonics and friendship, and actual canon... but yeah, i'd be so for them to actually explore a romantic relationship, and ship them romantically, as lovers.

Maria Hill/Pepper -> Ship Pepper with women. Look you know, hear me out. Just yes. Like YES? Before both being burned by Tony. To Maria just being shocked that Pepper Potts of all people /saved her/ to them just both being workaholics with /problems/ to bonding over stress, and drinks, and just Maria and Pepper finding common ground; and pepper plus woman makes my lesbian soul happy

Steve R. / Pepper -> self indulgent. self indulgent thoughts. headcanons of when steve is woken from the ice and tony is talking about that; and what his "bodyguard" tells him about steve; to pepper meeting steve, cause she's tony's PA/EA rolled into one, and getting to know steve/captain america cause of that through the early years of avengers, and just being friends with all the first avengers cause of her proximity to tony/iron man... to romance with captain america, steve rogers, and its so self indulgent. let her date a hero she just looks up and thinks is dreamy.

Natasha R/ Pepper -> same reasons as Maria. Don't have much to say, but boy would i ship it

HONORABLE MENTION -> look I'd be down for Rhodey and Pepper, they tick my /they are so platonic, almost too platonic/ friendship box to ship romantically, but i mean they could cute. tony's two best friend having a thing. // Bethany Cabe and Pepper hate fuck. that's it. that's the ship. it's toxic. neither of them like each other. but they hate fuck. // mj and pepper you know that could be something. // ship pepper with women ship pepper with women // and open to rp spawned ships

GREER NELSON -> oh boy this girl. okay. let just ship her with everyone. there done.

Marc / Greer -> i think they are cuties and hope that current canon does something with them a lot more and better

Hank / Greer -> first you are unpack all of hank pym, acknowledge all his issues; but there is something about them, with this canon, and what could be

Bobbi / Greer -> YES. JUST YES. Let girls kiss, and just these two. TBH Greer would date every single WCA but Bobbi makes top of the list

Jessica D. / Greer -> i just think when girls are friends and save each other's lives thy should kiss

Bruce Banner / Greer -> self indulgent ship from scraps and inspired from roleplays, but i think it's pretty cool ship

Bucky… is going to kill Clint. Suddenly all of Clint’s odd comments and strangely demure behavior and even his clothes start to make a kind of insane sense. He’s play-acting at more than just a first date. Clint’s pretending to be someone else entirely, and Bucky’s not sure if it’s a joke or a bad attempt at seduction, but either way a heads-up before the evening started would have prevented a hell of a lot of confusion and maybe prevented Bucky from nearly murdering his husband in a bar in Hell’s Kitchen on a Wednesday night.

for the ficlet prompts: tv baking competition au

This is kind of what you asked for, and yet, it is not at all what you asked for.

Bucky doesn't know how or why he got drawn into TV cooking shows. He doesn't cook, for fuck's sake. He didn't cook before his accident, and he sure as fuck isn't chopping onions with only one arm these days. Bucky spends half his time wrapped in his comforter eating ham sandwiches.

It started, he thinks, with Great British Bake Off. There's just something comforting about that show. It's just nice. It was something to do when Bucky couldn't even drag himself out of bed, deep in a dark hole of depression an self-loathing and pain. He could turn on GBBO and just... let his brain rest.

And then it sort of... expanded. From baking competitions to cooking competitions to plain old cooking shows.

And now he's watching YouTube episodes of Oh Crepé!, featuring a tall, handsome blond man who seems to enjoy fucking up famous recipes and telling bad jokes.

Bucky's not even sure how he found the guy. But he's funny (if you like puns, and god help him, Bucky does), and kind, and laughs at himself more than he laughs at other people, and he's fuckin' deadly with a knife, and there's something soothing about listening to him describe his sexual attraction to a pork pancake.

Okay, that part's a little weird, but Bucky likes weird, and he likes that the guy - he's called Clint, Bucky knows that, because the girl behind the camera who heckles him incessantly says his name with with varying degrees of exasperation at least twice an episode - is so at ease with himself, so comfortable in his own skin, despite bandages, and bruises, and his inability to pronounce 'self-aggrandizing'.

He's also Deaf, and that's nothing at all like being an amputee, but something about knowing that makes Bucky feel like one day he'll be okay too.

thanks to @trashkingtater for the tag!! here are five of my favourite fics!

How It Should Have Gone - I don't think I'll ever get over this fic, honestly. It'll always be one of my favourites, just because I put so much love and work into it. It's about Steve right after he wakes up, if Coulson was put in charge of showing him the future. Steve goes to university, meets some friends, and falls in love.

once upon a december - this one is Winterhawk. it's an Anastasia (1998) rewrite, and it's also super dear to my heart. That movie is one of my favourites, and I was really glad that I was able to write it.

blood on my hands, love in my heart - more Winterhawk! this one is mostly recovery!Bucky. Clint rescues him from Hydra a bit early and steals him away to the Farmhouse. It's soft and sweet (and a little spicy at the end) and it's just nice.

the harder we try, the harder we fall - some good old fashioned ameriwinterhawk soulmates. i was asked for angst, and i think i delivered. soulmarks don't always mean the relationship will work, it just means it has the potential to work.

Shift - ameriwinterhawk again! but this time, werewolves! established SteveBucky, with newcomer Clint who is taught his worth by Steve and Bucky.

I notice that 4/5 of these are written for other people. I seem to do my best work when it's for someone else.

Accepting Prompts

I'm reopening prompts for a while!! While I'm really excited to do this, i wanted to establish some guidelines to pin to my profile for people who've never requested words from me before.

Romantic ships I'll write for:

if you want to request a different romantic ship, that's okay!! It just might take me longer to get to. I also accept friendship prompts, but please use an & for those prompts rather than /. (Example, Clint&Nat) Please do not send me Clint/Kate, I won't fill it, not even for MCU. If you have a preference for which universe you want, please let me know, I don't mind switching or mixing and matching universes. (Example: 616!Clint/MCU!Bucky)

When requesting something please remember my specialty is angst or hurt/comfort rather than fluff or overly romantic prompts. All this means is that it will take me longer to fill the prompt if it's more of a fluff based prompt, not that I won't write it.

Bonus: If you want, send me the name your favorite song + artist and your ship of choice and I'll write you something based off of that. Snippets of lyrics are also acceptable!

Another fun event hosted by @stonyauniverse - this one uses flow charts where you choose a starting point, a genre and a prompt and are then assigned an AU and a trope to create a fanwork that incorporates all four into a single work. I was challenged to combine the following: AU: Med School, Hurt/Comfort, Miscommunication, and Bathing. Blind Luck is coming in at 825 words at the moment. It will will need a bit of trigger/warning tagging (cadavers & eye trauma) but am holding on to it until I get my Tony Stark Bingo card later this month to see if I can incorporate any of those fills as well. 😁

Bucky Barnes Connect Four Alt-Juniverse Event (BBE_C4)[ends 30 Jun 2023]

Signed up for this event over at @buckybarnesevents - you get a four-square card featuring ideas for AUs. The prompts can be used as stand-alones or combined with each other or other events. Thanks to crossovers, I finished out one card and have a WIP that combines 2 square and an idea to combine the other two. .

Tentatively titled A Sugar-Coated Pill, up and coming politician Alpha!Bucky starts a sugar daddy/sugar baby relationship with a young omega!Tony. But both of them have secrets they’re hiding. WinterIron Bingo - [WIB_R1] (Ends 16 Dec 2023)

I have seven fills completed and three WIP for this brand-new bingo event that I’m helping mod! Along with crossfilling against my other bingos, I’m going to try to combine my B column squares for the Iron Soldier badge (complete a bingo with a single work). – Alpha Tony Stark, “That was not my intention.”, James Rhodes,Alpine loves Tony and Blind date.

* O5 - Gentle – use this poem as inspiration?

* ADOPTABLE1 - 1990′s – picked this to prod me into picking My Love is Vengeance back up. Chapter 4 is in draft form at 1492 words and will be posted on 6/9; Chapter 5 is in progress at 719 words. I have some decent notes that should allow me to finish this up in six or seven chapters total.

Bucky Barnes Bingo - [BBB_R5] (Ends 10 Jan 2024)

Am still trying to match up squares to crossfill, but have five fills, three WIPs and a couple more Vague ideas already.

* B4 - Shapeshifters - wrote . A Shift in Their Relationship as a crossover with the WI_PPP prompt Dragons are Gay. This came in at 404 words and will be posted to Ao3 before this event is over.

* U2 - Clint Barton/Hawkeye - Dredged up my year-old Winter Soldier/ young Clint WIP You Can’t Stop It With a Gun. Chapter 3 was already in progress and is now up to 548 words.

* C2 - Yelena Belova – The plan is to use this prompt in the next chapter of Peresmešnik, (aka Three Avengers and a Baby) , which is currently sitting at 1100 words (400-ish of which are mine).

* C5 - Marriage of Convenience/Pretend Couple - next chapter of Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion. Not quite sure where to take this next at the moment. 😕

* K3 - Magic - Aro!Bucky sickfic idea?

* Y2 - [image: IW Bucky with the good hair] Last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF198 What Comes Next] was a perfect match for an idea I’d already been playing around with to fill this square. I banged out Getting Prepared -(updated title = Preparations) an A:IW missing scene set between the time that T’Challa and Okoye come for Bucky and the moment he sees Steve again. I will post it to Ao3 sometime in the next month or so.

* Y3 - Alpine - see WIB Iron Soldier combo.

* Y4 - Forgotten Things - I may use this for Chapter 2 Half of the Flesh and Blood That Makes Me Whole, a Bucky POV remix of at least the first part of Take What Was Wrong (And Make it Right), which is current sitting at 52 words. I’m expecting at least one more chapter, possibly two, depending on how far I want to take the remix.

Warm and Fuzzy Bingo - [WFB] (no end date)

I got my card from @warmandfluffybingocards back in February but really hadn’t done much with it - however, I’m picking it back up for some crossover possibilities!

* N4 - Affectionate Teasing – I can fill this with Starting Something New , but am going to hold off on posting to Ao3 until the next Tony Stark Bingo round starts. 😁

On other creative fronts: I have an Mothman Stuffed With Character figure in progress. I am prepping for a con in June so am pretty well booked up through the middle of this month.
